Scott Barrett has been named as the new captain of the All Blacks.
The Crusaders lock is set to take over as skipper in the first squad named by Scott Robertson as All Blacks coach.
All Blacks assistant coach Jason Ryan outlined why Barrett was the best choice for the role.
"He's a real leader, players follow him - and he's a winner."

I think they'll work pretty well together. They both see

to me, they think that's weird that you've named three
locks and one of them has got an injury.

Well, Sam Barry's coming in for cover, so he'll be
with us for a couple of weeks.

Okay, why did you leave out Hoskins to Tutu, Well, we.
Speaker 3 (01:45):
Just thought Wallace the td is work create both sides
of the ball as phenomenal and he put his hand up.
Could not pick him the performance that he had in
the semi final. He put on a bit of a
master class and for a young man, we'll see a
huge future in him.

have got their own real point of difference, to be.

boys that have also made it.

and he's got a big future at Test match rugby.

like there's pressure on him man, like we're expecting him
to win everything.

Well, I think every head coaches and every all black
coaches expect to win everything. So I think it's you know,
that's part of the that's part of the legacy, it's
part of you know, who we are. It's what the
Black Jersey ask of you, and we wouldn't want.

To be fair Now, fair enough, okay, what happens for
you guys, now do you get to celebrate or is
it just like straight into the business.

You know, we're we're on a eleven o'clock flight tomorrow
morning up to to Wellington to assemble as a management group,
the All Black player as they're all on promos, promos
and Auckland for the whole day and then we assemble on.

Wednesday up in Wellington here and then we have.

Pretty much a couple of days together there and then
then it's the weekend and we've got seven days we
play England, so it's going to come around pretty quick
now and really looking forward to it.
