D'Arcy Waldegrave: Sportstalk host on South Africa's progress in the T20 World Cup

South Africa have finally broken the semifinal wall at a men's Cricket World Cup.

The Proteas sent the long-standing hoodoo cartwheeling into the history books with a thumping nine-wicket win over Afghanistan at the latest T20 global tournament.

Sportstalk host D'Arcy Waldegrave unpacks this news further.

I am surprised that this is their first ever Crinket
T twenty World Cup final.

They've only won one in ten knockout game in World Cups.

Speaker 1 (00:43):
How is this possible?

Speaker 2 (00:45):
Because they choke, They've dropped World Cups, They've been rolled
by New Zelanders.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
There T twenty tournament paying off for.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
Them, the one they had at home.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
Yeah, the one that they come up again.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
They come up against Afghanistan. I think had played their
final when they won against Australia and then they beat
New Zealand and they got rolled for at fifty six,
so I really really so Queens. The cot was the
only wicket, so they did it in ten overs. Easy. Yeah.
They're waiting now for England the India and whoever wins
that will take on South Africa in the final. And

we know that the BCCI, I've got their fingerprints all over.
This tournament's basically their tournament. So the final is going
to be on a perfect viewing time for the Indians.
So I hope England will win.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
And what time is it for us?

Speaker 2 (01:29):
Are we going to tune in? Okay?

Speaker 1 (01:32):
So we've got the round of sixteen games confirmed for
Euro twenty four.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Denmark, England, Slovakia, Spain, Georgia, France, Belgium, Portugal, Slovenia, Romania,
Netherlands and Austria Turkey. They are the round of sixteen.
They're the last eight games of four. Things start getting sticky,
although now we're not worried about the third place and
the twenty four teams in fold and the chaos of
trying to qualify. It's gone. Now we know win, go through, lose. Great,
