Speaker 1 (00:00):
Heller duper ce Allen.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
Now, so the crack and how about that? The Black
Caps India Test has resumed in Bengaluru. After bowling the
hosts out for a poultry forty six in the first innings,
the black Caps are now sitting on two hundred and
fourteen for five. Craig coming as a form of Black
Captains with us.
Speaker 1 (00:14):
Now, Hey, Craig, isn't the secret just to repeat the
question when you're after question one? O? One of media training?
Speaker 2 (00:20):
Is that what you do?
Speaker 1 (00:21):
You do?
Speaker 2 (00:21):
You repeat the question and then do you say anything
else or just repeat us?
Speaker 1 (00:24):
Well, you know, we have a written statement that you're
prepared and you're don't you just repeat the statement or
you have a couple and you bounce from one to
the other, from one to the other. So yeah, I
mean you give it us.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
But are you available, Craig to help the nets out?
Speaker 1 (00:38):
Oh yeah, I mean that's interesting, like I mean, talking
on the you know, talking to the media. But it's probably
something that you'd expect to be the first thing that
you get taught in. It's something I actually did get
taught when I when I started doing cricket and being
a player and being a captain, you get given some strategies.
But I suppose when you get a bit frazzled, you know,
like when you play the game of cricket. Sometimes in
you get stuck. And the worst thing is when we're
(00:59):
talking to each other. If it stuck, it doesn't sound
very good, does it?
Speaker 2 (01:02):
Do you know what? Listening to this because this is
for free from Craig coming, how good is the cricket?
Did you see this coming?
Speaker 1 (01:10):
No? No, not not to that extent. I suppose when
it rained on the first day and we knew that
it had been under covers for a better bit, then
you know, because any bit of a hope that we
might get some assistance. But I certainly didn't expect it
to be that. And New Zealand did it brilliantly. They
played Tim Saudi, they played three seemers and it did
work in their favorite a bold beautifully and you know,
(01:32):
Orouric and mat Henry have been outstanding in Saudi got
the first wicket. So the key is now they hear
that you always say it the next hour is the
most important, and they've done so far with the bat.
But yeah, unfortunately lost a couple of wickets today. But
if they can get that lee. They really would like
that lead over two fifty because that puts real pressure
on India. It'd be a lot. He's about the second thing.
(01:53):
So we need to get as many runs and you
don't get many opportunities to beat India, and in India,
we've got to make the most of this and this
innings is really important.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
So Matt Henry has just you know, bold superbly. Why
was he left out of the last couple of tests.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
Yeah, and that was the big question literally because I'm
not sure why they were with a row over room
because but I did brilliantly. That was the question about
Tim Saudi playing. He was the captain and you know
he had to be packed and obviously it changed, you know,
it was howd he's stepping down. Probably probably saw this.
I meant, you know, we should have Matt Henry on
(02:29):
every side that we put out with his bel efforts.
So he's shown that. But I think they realized that,
and that's the reason why Tim Saundy stood down. And
we still saw Tim Saudi bowl bringing me well when
the conditions suit him. So but I've got it right. Unfortunately,
it took two test losses for that to happen. But
they're on the right track and I think we could
all forgive the losses in Schlanger if they win this
(02:49):
Test in Bangaloou. I think, you know, it's a great
way to bounce back.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
So is there something like a captain's curse going on here?
Because now Tim Soudy's not the captain. He's awesome, But
now now Tom Latham's fifteen is out. What's going on? Ah?
Speaker 1 (03:03):
Yeah, I mean it is a huge job, it really is,
and you know especially and it's not just on the
field with all the decision making. It's it's a media,
you know, it's it's it's those things. It's all the
extra stuff that you have to do. It's the meetings.
You know, you've got to make sure the players are
all happy, even though the coaches do that, as a captain,
you've got to do that. So it's probably one of
(03:25):
the few sports where the captain still has a massive
influence on the game because you have to do all
the decisions. Out of them, at ninety nine percent of them,
you have to come up with yourself or your own mind.
Whereas we've seen our in modern sport, there are walkie talkies,
there are water boys, there are people running on and
off your hand signals, there are lights open, so I
think the fact though so cricket. The captain still has
(03:47):
a major influence on how the day runs. And when
you do it for the first time after having a break,
you normally sit back in your chair and you can't
get up because mentally you're absolutely naked. So it does
wear on and there's nothing like being a good form
and we've been pretty lucky in the past with Brendan
McCallum and then came Williams and two players who perform brilliantly.
But it's not an easy job without a doub especially
(04:07):
Test cricket, because it wears you out and it's tiring.
And Tom Lincoln's got the heat in the sun and
the crowd so it's a big text. But you'll hand
he'll be fine.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
No good stuff. Hey Craig, it's always good to talk
to you. Thank you mate, there's Craig coming former black app.
