Speaker 1 (00:00):
Ever duplessyl Now, did you know that it's unlawful to
serve a cup of tea at the hair dresses? I know,
how hilarious are we in New Zealand not allowed a
cup of tea? It's an offense to serve drinks in
the service area of a hairdressing salon or a barber.
And it's also an offense to bring your dog to
the hair dresses. God only knows why. National MP Dana
Kirkpatrick wants to sort all of the souturners with us. Now, Dana, hello, hey,
(00:21):
how's it going very well? Thank you? Now? How is
this an offense?
Speaker 2 (00:25):
Like?
Speaker 1 (00:25):
What is the law here that makes this an offense?
Speaker 2 (00:28):
Ah, some age old dark age thing out of the
nineteen eighties where a health regulations deemed that it was
safe for he dresses to serve your cup of tea
or a cup of coffee. I mean, how out rageous.
Speaker 1 (00:39):
But I've been having cups of tea at the hair
dresses since the nineteen eighties, haven't.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
You, well the odd one. But you know, let's not
tell anyone what he dress are right?
Speaker 1 (00:48):
No, I'm saying absolutely nothing, But I mean, legit, what
kind of trouble could they get into if somebody, if
somebody I don't know in uniform walked in and saw
me having my little English breakfast while getting my haircut.
What are we talking about.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
Yeah, it's well it's it's I guess it's a fine
under the health regulations. So you know that currently it's illegal,
so we need to sort that out. Good, I'm not
above having a glass of bubbles transferring.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
Well, now you're pushing the boat out. Okay, So you're
not just wanting to change the rules so I can
have a cup of tea. You're wanting to get boozed
as well.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
Yeah, well just the one heither, just the one. So
you know what we're saying is the spell would transform
that alcohols act as well, so that you could, you know,
the her dresser to give you glass of bubbles.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
My mum always has a glass of bubbles at the hairdresser.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
Well, now said be able to do it legally? Even better?
Speaker 1 (01:36):
Okay, Now, once we get the spell.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
Through, I mean that's the problem. We've got to get
it out of the members ballots, so rety quickly.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
What's the problem with the dog?
Speaker 2 (01:44):
Yeah again, no idea health sp regulation. For some reason,
they decided that you couldn't take your dog to the
hair dresser. But you know these days we don't really
do that, do we. We take them to the pub, the cafe,
we take them to the office. Even allowed in parliament.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
You you sit in parliament. How on earth does this
kind of nonsense make its way into law? Like which
idiot in parliament was like, you know what we need
to do that? Do you know?
Speaker 2 (02:08):
I'm not sure I should have found that out for
the nineteen eighty regulations who decided that this was a
good idea. Mate clearly could longer.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
If he could and then send me a text, I'd
appreciate it. Okay, Now, okay, you put it into the
that you've put it into the cake tin of biscuit tin,
which means that we have to wait for the luck
of the drawer for it to be drawn out. Why
don't you just march on down to the Minister of
Red Tape David Seymour and ask him to do it
on your behalf.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
Well, you never know, we could yet do that. I mean,
that's not a bad idea, is it.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
Yeah? And then he'll give you the well, he won't
give you the credit because it's David, but we'll give
you the credit.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
Well, look, you know, I have that conversation and we'll
see how we get on, but certainly it's out of date,
irrelevant and we need to you know, we need to
move on.
Speaker 1 (02:48):

us through that. It's Dana Kirkpatrick, nationally MP for the
