The NRL has issued a breach notice to Warriors assistant coach Richard Agar following a probe into an altercation that took place during the first round in Las Vegas.

The breach notice proposes a fine of $10,000, a suspension from three NRL matches and a requirement for Agar to undertake appropriate education and training.

Newstalk ZB sports journalist Nathan Limm says Agar will likely be prohibited from travelling to any away match scheduled for the Warriors during the suspension period.

He also revealed the NRL declined to comment further.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
The NRAL has issued a breach notice to Warriors assistant
coach Richard Agar after an altercation with a journalist during
the first NRL round in Las Vegas.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
You'll remember this.

Speaker 1 (00:09):
It was in the news The Big League podcast host
Nathan Limmers with us, good afternoon.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Hey Ryan, how are you good? Thank you? So he
grabbed him by the throat, didn't he? Yeah.

Speaker 3 (00:18):
So, basically at halftime between the Warriors and the Raiders,
Richard Aga and the other coaches were descending down to
see the players from the coach's box and it's alleged
that Richard Agar got into a verbal altercation with an
Australian journalist from The Guardian, which resulted in him grabbing
him by the throat and pushing him. So the NRAL
have launched an investigation into this. The Warriors coach and

(00:42):
CEO both backed to Agar after this sort of came out,
and so they've issued this breach notice, suspending him for
three games, ten thousand dollars fine, and he has to
undergo I guess some education of some sort of education
course around this sort of thing. Grab been thrown, not
grabbing throats would be the lesson that he needs to lose.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
So this has come from the NRL because I found
it interesting that Warriors said we're going to do our
own investigation.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
What does that mean? Nothing?

Speaker 3 (01:12):
Well, I mean I guess that means they'll talk to
Agar and get his side.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
Of the storm. They didn't do anything, did they.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
Well, we don't know exactly what has gone on behind
the scenes, but the effectively what this band means is
the suspension means that he can't perform assistant coaching duties
on match days, so we can still be with the
team during the week, and he can't travel to the
team for their array games within this three game period.
So there are two away games coming up against this
Tigers and the Storm, he won't be able to make

(01:38):
the trip over.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
What's the Warriors saying about it? You've checked them?

Speaker 3 (01:42):
Yeah, So I've just reached out to the Warriors and
have just got back to me saying that they have
no response to this breach. Notice, they have five days
to respond. They're not going to respond, which effectively means
they accept it and they're not going to appeal it.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
Okay, interesting, Thanks so much for that, Nathan. Good to
see Nathan them. Who's with the Big Lead podcast? Here
at news Talk MB.
