D'Arcy Waldegrave: Sportstalk host on the Indian Panthers getting suspended for the rest of the NBL season

The Indian Panthers are out of the NBL basketball competition for the foreseeable future.

The NBL commission has suspended the overseas first-year entrant amid claims of payment issues and poor treatment of players.

The club will be indefinitely suspended until certain conditions laid out by the Commission are met.

I feel really tired today. Well, I don't know why.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
Let's blame We will wear where wolves. We're reacting to
the moon. Okay, if you're feeling really tired, let us know,
because I feel like I feel like we need them.
We might be Two of us is not a pattern,
but three would be anyway.

So the Indian Panthers have now been suspended, have they?

Speaker 2 (00:55):
If they have.

Speaker 3 (00:57):
The commission today? This is the Commission looking after this
from on basketball, I'd suspend them effective immediately, from the
participation in the rest of the NBL. The sales NBL
twenty twenty five. And they go through the reasons they're
doing it and why they're doing it, the ongoing investigation,
the details, the conditions, the matters. That one line that

I'm quite interested in here, and look, I stand to
be challenged on this.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
I probably will be yes by.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
Their commission, but this is the line from the chair
Tracy Garland. It is very disappointed with the commission to
be facing the situation, especially given that the following careful due.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
Diligence whatever carrying on.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
Yeah, that's it.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
Let's play a game at connect the dots, right, And
I'll been on the internet connecting dots all night doing
on that research my own research. Yah.

The connections between the Panthers are the Indian Basketball League,
some vaguely shonky out for a Melbourne that are also
connected to Western United Football And there's all of these
connections with these similarities of these people engaged and it's
a mess. It's a financial mess. And like I've managed

to find that of an evening in a morning.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
So I don't know, you're saying that the NBL should
have just done a Google search like that.

Speaker 3 (02:26):
They hopefully went a bit deeper than that. But to me,
to me, the issue is not about the Indian Panthers.
The issue here is who enabled the Indian Panthers who
started this, because it's their problem. It's their fault. They initiate,
they opened the door, they let this team in and

(02:47):
they're surprised that all chaos and hell's broken loose.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
So but now they have to redraw the draw.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
Well, they must have. They must otherwise every time somebody's
supposed to play, the Indian Panthers.

Speaker 3 (02:59):
Get couple of points, but no one will turn up,
so the people on the concession boots won't be able
to make any money. So they're experiences. We had the
bloke on last night proneil and it was whosh, what's
interesting what some crazy old texts about that?

Speaker 2 (03:12):
As well as like well, I don't know, this guy
talks a lot, didn't say a great deal, but that's
what why people heard. And I talked to on challenge
him on on quite a few things.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
And you know, we ran the money because you know,
fifteen thousand dollars a game, a home game, and you
know first five games of home games, like, well you
just found that out?

Speaker 2 (03:32):
Sorry, Just do you think maybe you might have looked
forward to go we're going to need to thick end
of fifty k for the first game?

Speaker 1 (03:39):

Speaker 2 (03:41):
Seventy five? Well, phone and I don't do math talk.

Ask your question, is this Ruby two in news bag
or this is expected?

Speaker 3 (03:48):
I wouldn't say expected, But what I say of Alan
Barunting is that what he's doing with the lights of Chelsea.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
Bremner, who's not there as well. Rena Holmes is.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
Not there and Ruby till now, they're not out of
the rugby will cut which is coming up late August September.
He's just shot across their bows and goes my expectations.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
Of this because they're not in the Pacific Fall Series.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
No they're not. That's the accent. They're not out. They're
still in there.

Speaker 3 (04:10):
There's a forty person squad coming up for training for that.
But they've run some of the the more veteran players out.
They've introduced some amazing young talent into the side. There's
some sevens talent coming, but there's still the core and
I think they might object to the fact that's all
about Ruby Towey. The core of the team that won
that World Cut, that have been playing great rugby and

Opicky are still there and they're the important ones and
lot Ruby would be fantastic, but I think that maybe
Porscha Woodman Wickliffe coming back probably, And then you've got
the young fullback Braxton who's quite Braxton Sorenson McGee who's
quite something else, but there are some great.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
He just needs to do a few spinning classes and.

Speaker 3 (04:54):
Wow, she's got something to prove. But internal competition in
any team is everything to staff needs. So it's not
the end of the line. It's a good thing in
my humble opinion.
