Speaker 1 (00:00):
Jason Pine SportsTalk hoast with me Had Poney. Hello, Heather
Auckland FC. I mean, come on, they're going to do it,
aren't they?
Speaker 2 (00:06):
I think they are. Do you know it was exactly
seven months ago today they played their first game. If
you can go back seven months, did anybody really expect
that they would be one game away from the Grand
Final seven months later? I mean, here we are over
in Melbourne on Saturday night, rarely professional performance, another clean sheet,
a goal when it was needed. They did what had
(00:27):
to be done. So now all they have to do
is avoid defeat back home this coming Saturday in front
of what will be a magnificent crowd, and then the
following week King's Birthday, we can they host the Grand Final.
It's I don't think fairy teals the right word. It's
just an extremely good sporting story and you've got to
give credit to everybody involved.
Speaker 1 (00:45):
I reckon, jeez, I mean what happens after this? Like
if you imagine if they actually win the thing in
their first outing, then from here on in what do
the fans expect? I mean the fans are going to
have extremely high bars, yea very high bar.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
Yeah, they probably think you know, fans to walk on
the FC probably think of this is what sports fandom is,
you know. Yeah, yeah, you're jump on board a team
and it's all in the sunshine and rainbows. Yeah, but look,
all sporting teams go through peaks and troughs, don't.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
They only downhill from here pineys.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
So that's the cliche. It's all downhill from here. Look,
I think it's Look, let's enjoy the next couple of weeks,
shall we, and then and then worry about next season
when next season rolls around.
Speaker 1 (01:21):
You're right here, we are like glass half all. Would
they can't win the first year? Hey Pioneer seriously though,
So let's say that they actually win it. Then presumably
the tickets. Then then we can confirm the location for
the Grand Final. Would it be at Mount Smart?
Speaker 2 (01:35):
It will definitely be at Mount Smart.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
And then the tickets must go go and seale pretty
much immediately, I.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
Would say, be Monday. Yeah, they probably do a members
members only kind of thing Sunday to Monday lunchtime, I
would say, and then general the mission after that. So yeah,
it's only a short windows day. It will it will,
And they've had an extra seats of course, thirty thousand
I think, or knocking on thirty thousand for the semi,
a few more for the final. But yeah, hotcakes, I
mean it'll be hottest, hottest ticket in town.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
Yeah, and Mwana pacificate, how impressed.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
I'm very impressed with them. You hear a bit about
how the Blues kind of you know, we weren't that
much a fan, so much of having another team in
the in their city and made it know and apparently
so looked interesting narratives. But Artie Savier one of the
all time great individual performances. Man, if one guy can
transform a team, it's that man. Incredible stuff from him. Well,
(02:22):
they make the six. They might still pretty tough from
here with a couple of big games to come, but
they play like they did the other night, every chance.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
Brilliant stuff. He Piney has always loved talking to you.
Thank you, mate, Jason pine Sports talk hosting.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
