D'Arcy Waldegrave: Sportstalk host on cowbells getting banned from Super Rugby Pacific final

The Crusaders don’t want Chiefs fans to bring cowbells to the Super Rugby Pacific final in Christchurch on Saturday.

The final is set up as the perfect crescendo to a compelling 2025 season, with the Chiefs, the number one ranked team in the round robin and second ranked Crusaders to duke it out.

Sportstalk host D'Arcy Waldegrave unpacks the ban ahead of the match.

I think it's really funny, do you. It's they're having fun,
that's all they're doing. They just have a bit of acting.

them an inch. And so he's saying, I'd be interesting
to see how many gets knuck on the door now
they can actually do, and whether the security actually come

down on them and try and take said cow bell
off them, because it's been said that as part of
Daiki stadiums, it's a musical instrument, and they don't like
musical instruments.

Speaker 3 (00:54):
They've banned them all, like those vouverzella and stuff like that.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
I don't really call a vouverzella or a cow bell
a music instrument that makes one noise? How is that musical?
Although Will Farrell the cow bell.

No, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
I look it up okay, well, look it's a little video.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
Look I suppose because I was I thought, I think
it's a silly decision. I mean, it's good for a niggle,
but I think it's a silly decision because it takes
so much of the fun and the atmosphere away. But
then I guess they don't care, do they, Because it's
not as if the Chiefs are going to go, well,
I'm not going to play you next time, don't turn up.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
If I don't know if New Zealand's renowned for fun
and atmosphere and anything alone rugby, I don't know. I
mean piping some fun with h It's just it's it's
bringing the attention to the final, not like we don't
need the attempts of the final anyway, because it used
to be Auckland Canterbury. Now it's the Chiefs Crusaders. Actually
hold on, someone said to me in the office today.

Now you got it wrong. It's anyone in the Crusaders,
doesn't matter who they're playing. They don't like them.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
Are you fizzling the state of origin too tonight?

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Yeah, I'll be up for that. It's not starting much later.

Speaker 4 (01:56):
I thought it might have been because it's in Perth,
but they've obviously adjusted that for the Eastern Boar, because
that's want I upset that might and suddenly or quint
now do they last time out they didn't fire a
shot Queensland.

That was depressing the second half. They still couldn't fire
a shot at home and they were looking down the
barrel of consecutive losses at home. And they didn't get
flogged on the school but but they got flogged everywhere else.
