Brodie McAlister: Chiefs hooker on making the All Blacks squad set to play France

All Blacks coach Scott Robertson has unveiled the 35-man squad set to play France - and there's some new names in the batch.

Chiefs hooker Brodie McAlister is among the new faces included in the All Blacks squad.

He says he didn't get a heads-up about this development - and he says he's in 'shock'.

"I'm just looking forward to getting in there and getting stuck in."

dad actually called me straight away. Yeah, we're weabit in
shock and the garage, so the phone was just blowing up, mate.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
Yeah? They were pretty stoked. Yeah, mum had a few tears.

Ye, bloody bet, my bloody bet she did. Now what
happens now? I mean, do you get like it's probably
too early, but have you thought about that?

Do you do?

Speaker 2 (01:46):

Do you get a pay rise?

Ah? I'm sure, Well I'll just carry on enjoying my
footy and you're just looking forward to getting involved.

And I'm sensing that you're very awkward about that question.
What about do they do they rock up with a
brand new forward for you or a Toyota or something
like that. Do you get a new ute?

Speaker 2 (02:12):
I'm unsure on what all the perks are, but yeah, yeah,
just looking forward to getting in there and getting stuck in.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
Are you also feeling equal amounts of being stoked about
this and then totally packing yourself because it's like it's
the thing you want, but now you have to perform.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
Yeah, yeah, it's pretty fortunate. After I would go into
the environment into last year over when they are in
the UK, so I'd kind of expect to know what's coming.
But yeah, obviously got added pressure on you, but that's

where you want to be. And yeah, I'm just looking
forward to being able to better my self.
