The public scrutiny is off All Blacks coach Scott Robertson - for a few days, at least.

His side have arrived in Wellington, fresh from snapping a four-test losing streak over the Springboks and preserving a 31-year unbeaten run at Eden Park.

Sportstalk host Jason Pine explained further ahead of the second clash in Wellington.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Sport with TV bedlave with in play righting there responsibly.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Jason Pine Sports Talk coasters of Mellow Piney Heloida, what
did I say to you on Friday? I said, don't worry,
we got it in the bag.

Speaker 3 (00:11):
You did say that?

Speaker 2 (00:11):
And then what was it?

Speaker 1 (00:12):
First try?

Speaker 3 (00:12):
Within three minutes, I know, so quick, and then fourteen
mil up after twenty minutes. This is going the way
we hoped, and everything was looking good and look, I
think the All Blacks probably had control for the most part,
but South Africa just kept on coming, didn't they as
they do, And then there was that turnover by Ardi
at the end. We thought, hey, great, fantastic, But even
then there was a twist because how Africa got the
ball back and almost made it twenty four all. But

(00:33):
I just thought it was an epic Test match. The atmosphere,
the South African fans really brought into it, my goodness,
there were so many of them. The anthems were amazing,
every part of it and the right result for All
Blacks fans. I guess the trick now is doing it
again in what five days time in Wellington.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
You know normally what happens with the All Blacks is
that they they were kind of touched to this on
Friday right when they're nervous, they play really well well
when they can place it. They dropped the ball. What
do you reckon? Their vibe is going into Wellington.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
I think it might be a recognition of what you
just said and saying, Okay, we can't be we can't
drop at all down because just because we had a
big win and it was a big win, Eden Park Fortress,
South Africa, double World Champions, Artie's hundredth all that stuff,
they have to find a way to recreate that urgency
without those things.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
Because they bloody had to work for it by just Saturday.
So thats nothing to be complacent about.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
That South Africa went great. I didn't think. I thought
they made a lot of uncharacteristic errors. They'll come again
and the last thing they'll want is a two nil
series sweep in New Zealand. So the All Blacks will
have to lift again and maybe that will be enough
for them to lift again. I think it'll be intriguing
to see the team, the names. I think it'll be
pretty similar. Rassie Rasmus has gone back to his Monday
night Shenanigans, he's naming his team tonight five days out.

(01:49):
You never know we're going to get from Rasci. I
love him, so yeah, all sorts of storylines and I
think we're in for another intriguing test mat.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
Do you reckon that he truly believed they could do
it on Saturday night?

Speaker 3 (02:00):
RESSI?

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Yeah, absolutely, do you reckon?

Speaker 3 (02:02):
He is the he is the utmost confidence in him
he would have been Yeah, and I saw some shots
in the in the coach's box, and of course it's
all emotional, but yeah, he would have absolutely believed they
could be the ones to break it, because now they're
gonna have to wait. You know, it's the one thing
they haven't done. They've beaten us in World Cups, they've
beaten us in the last four test matches, still haven't

(02:22):
broken that even past cover.

Speaker 2 (02:24):
Those pony I mean, look for those Saffa boys, right.
This is the kind of pounding they give each other
the whole time, so they're probably kind of used to it.
But can now boys get their bodies back?

Speaker 3 (02:31):
It's a great question. And I spoke to Timoty Ellison
about this on my show yesterday and he said, well,
we have to, we have to. There's no other option.
We are elite sports people. We have to recover. Because
you're right, I am the CREA team all that stuff.
Just do whatever is required. That's why they may look
at some changes if guys are really beaten up, and
they'll just be tweaks, not wholesale, but they have to
they have to turn around and do it all again.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
Okay, so Saturday we are watching the Warriors for an
hour and then we're really then we're then we're stuffed.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
Yeah, it's such I mean, it's just an a tow
of what the NRL thinks of New Zealand sports fans.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
Really, the Warrior did somebody press, did somebody ask them
to change the time?

Speaker 3 (03:07):
Cameron George went to the Warrior, I went to the
NRAL and said, hey, how about this will kick off
at five o'clock here in New Zealand and then the
All Blacks will be at seven. It's four hours of
a sporting extravaganza for New Zealand fans. RAL said, no,
we don't want to three o'clock kickoff on the Eastern
seaboard of Australia turned it down, so they gave it
to go. That's what Cameron George wanted was five o'clock

(03:29):
New Zealand on a Saturday. Now we have to as
you say, what's first half? And then you make a
choice or your double screen or you go somewhere with
there's lots of screens.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
I mean, look, let's be honest about it. You're going
to watch the first half, by which point the Panthers
are beating us comprehensively, aren't you? But isn't that realistic?

Speaker 3 (03:44):
That's possible. That's one possibility.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
It's most likely one, though, isn't it.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
It's a possibility. Let's dut on Friday and do our predictions.
You got you got? I think you picked Manly on Friday?
Didn't you to beat the Warriors?

Speaker 2 (03:55):
I don't know that I made any predictions. Your prediction
was just squarely wrong.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
It was, and you're on about the All Blacks was right.
So I'm going to I'm going to take preture you
on you more.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
Reginever you picked the All Blacks as well. All right, Parney, listen,
thank you so much.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
Thanks.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
We'll talk to you again on Friday and we'll get a
little update then and see how things are going
