OTU 2024 Sauvignon Blanc. Marlborough $16

Why I chose it:

- I like Sauvignon, particularly when we get some warmer weather.

- First of the excellent 2024 vintage.

- Best of the 2024 vintage wines so far.

- Don’t overlook the discounted 2023 vintage wines.

What does it taste like?

This early release wine confirms the general belief that 2024 was a cracker of a vintage; a crisp, dry white with lime zest and passion fruit flavours, with appealing purity.

Why it’s a bargain:

Classic Marlborough sauvignon at a terrific price.

Where can you buy it?

Glengarry Wines, Auckland: $15.99
The Good Wine Co, Auckland: $16.99
Supermarkets (check the vintage)

Food match?

Great with seafood, I like it with pan-fried scallops.

Will it keep?

Fresh is best – good for a couple of years, perhaps more.

Quarter of eleven non news talks. He'd be Bob Campbell
is our master of wine and for his best buy
this week, he's chosen and or to twenty twenty four
seven on Blanc from Marlboro for sixteen dollars count of Bob,
why did you choose this?

Speaker 3 (00:25):
Well, Sovinyon blancs my go to wine statistically in the
warmer weather. Not that we're getting that today, but it
just is. And it's about as key we as as
possible to get. This is we're just starting to see
the first of the really excellent twenty twenty four vintage

(00:48):
wines called Mars, particularly from Marlborough, and it's it's it's
looking good. It's the I think that that, sovir lovers
can really really look forward to some some treats from this.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
Yeah, very nice. So what does the R two twenty
twenty four Savignon Blanc taste like?

Speaker 3 (01:13):
Well, my notes said say that the early release wine
confirms the general belief that the twenty twenty four was
a cracker of a vintage right and it's a cristal,
refreshing wine with sort of limesiest and passion fruit flavors,
a classic sort of Marlborough sauvignon.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
Yeah, nice, and you reckon at sixteen dollars it's pretty good.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
Value, yes, I do. It's it's, as I say, a
classic Marlborough savignant and at a terrific price.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
So can you buy it?

Speaker 1 (01:49):
Well?

Speaker 3 (01:49):
I founded at Glengarry Wines in Auckland. That's the retail
place of fifteen ninety nine, and the Good Wine Company,
also in Auckland, was sixteen ninety nine. Check the supermarkets out,
but when you check the vintage, because they quite often
maybe they may be running out of twenty twenty twenty

(02:13):
three ye right, and the twenty twenty four could be
slightly better.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
So yeah, yeah, okay, Well what would you mention with?

Speaker 3 (02:24):
Great with seafood? I like it with Penn Fried Scott.
I think it's a scallop season study shortly.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
Yeah, it does well. I've just able checked this so
it starts tomorrow, so perfect timing, really, Bob, maybe you
could go out a little bit of hunter gathering tomorrow
morning and then and then the order to wash it
down and will it keep? Do you think.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
Fish is best?

Speaker 1 (02:46):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (02:46):
But it's good for a couple of years, perhaps more,
but you know, as soon as as soon as I
think is the answer.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
There a very nice okay, thank you. So Bob's wine
once again is an is an all to twenty twenty
four Somnon blanc from Marlborough to sixteen dollars.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
