OpenAI is coming for LinkedIn

The company announced it'll be expanding and applying its AI knowledge to new applications. First up, matching employers and job seekers.

The "Jobs Platform" is designed to match those with AI skills to employers who want those skills. They're working on a certifications program too. There are also reports they're working on a web browser and a social media app.

The woman who runs this new "applications" vertical along with ChatGPT knows a thing or two about social media – she is the former head of Facebook and CEO of Instacart, a shopping and delivery marketplace.

Mark Zuckerberg is suing Mark Zuckerberg

It's a pretty famous name, huh? So imagine life for poor Mark Zuckerberg in Indiana. Facebook keeps suspending his account while falsely accusing him of "impersonating a celebrity". But when it suspends his account, it suspends his advertising account too.

Mark S. Zuckerberg says there is a breach of contract because he paid $11,000 for advertising that was improperly taken down. In a statement, Meta says it has "reinstated Mark Zuckerberg's account, after finding it had been disabled in error". "We appreciate Mr Zuckerberg's continued patience on this issue and are working to try and prevent this from happening in the future”.

Speaker 1 (00:07):
You're listening to the Saturday Morning with Jack Tame podcast
from News Talk z AB.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Time to catch up with our Textbert, Paul Stenhouse and Paul,
this is very confusing. But Mark Zuckerberg, he of Facebook fame,
is suing Mark Zuckerberg. And would you believe it's over
problems that Mark Zuckerberg's having on Facebook?

Speaker 3 (00:27):
Yes, but Mark Zuckerberg is being sued by a Mark
Zuckerberg who lives in Indiana. So the one who is
suing the Facebook founder is known as Mark s Zuckerberg.
The one who runs the giant social media company is
Mark E. Zuckerberg. And Mark s Zuckerberg has been around

(00:49):
for significantly longer. In fact, he's a lawyer, and I
think he said he's been practicing law since Mark Zuckerberg,
of Facebook fame was just in nappies. So what's going on?
You ask? Well, you can probably guess. Mark Zuckerberg has
a bit of a hard time, especially on Facebook, because
Mark Zuckerberg's account keeps being suspended and shut down because

(01:13):
people think he is impersonating a celebrity aka Mark Zuckerberg,
the founder of that very platform. But he is not Jack.
His real name is Mark Zuckerberg, and he is a lawyer,
and this is what he says. Okay, this is a
real case. He says that when the account is suspended,
obviously it's annoying, but it's not that it's the problem.

(01:35):
The problem is there is a breach of contract because
at one point he had paid eleven thousand dollars for
some advertising and that was improperly taken down and I
don't think the contract was fulfilled because when they suspended
his account, it also suspended his ad account. You see. Ah,
So apparently this has been going on quite some time,

(01:57):
you know, his frustration is you know, been mounting. And
Meta now says that it has reinstated of Mark Zuckerberg's
account has been disabled in error. And we appreciate missus
Zuckerberg's continued patients on this issue and are working to
try to prevent this from happening in the future.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
I'm on Mark Zuckerburg's side with this one.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
Oh same here.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
I don't know what you think. I mean, it'll be
very interesting to see who the court favors. But I
reckon Mark Zacherberer might come out on top. Actually it
would drive you, Natze, do you have anyone who has
How many poor steinhouses?

Speaker 1 (02:30):
Are there?

Speaker 3 (02:31):
Very few? Actually this do you know? There's another two
paul steinhouses just in christ Jury.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
Okay, so that's more.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
It's very weird. At one point one of the paul steinhouses.
I was a painter and painted my parents' house, so
my parents were at a checked paul steinhouse that I
really should have.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
Nabbedn't That is pretty cool? That's good. Are there any
paul steenhouse texperts out there or are you the only?

Speaker 1 (02:53):
Okay?

Speaker 2 (02:54):
Those? So, so far as I know, there are two
Jack Tames that aren't me. So there's one Jack Tame
who's out like a university lecturer in the UK, and
the other Jack Tame, confusingly is a journalist. But here's
the thing. Jack Tame the journalist. It works for the
National Broadcasting Corporation of Papua New Guinea and lives in

(03:15):
the Western Highlands in Papua New Guinea. And I don't
think I'm giving too much away when I suggest that
Jack Tame of Papua New Guinea looks very different to me,
like there's no confu if we walk into a room,
there's no confusing me and Jack Tame. There might be
if you compare our work, but there is no confusing
us in person. So there you go. Funny how these
things work out.

Speaker 3 (03:34):
Hey, he doesn't do probably very well on the SEO,
does he.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
Well, yes, I'm the Search engine optimization Matt mate, Well
maybe not. Maybe you never know. Sometimes I get a
notification on Twitter or something like that saying, oh, you
know you're trending, and I was say, oh, okay, I
know I'm trending in the western Highlands of Papua New Guinea. Hey,
open ai is coming for LinkedIn.

Speaker 1 (03:54):
Yees.

Speaker 3 (03:54):
So open ai is the company behind chat GPT and
they have got a new head of Applications. So that's
this woman's job is to basically think of all these
different ways to be coming up with new things they
can be doing with their technology. And what they're going
to be doing is creating what they're calling the Jobs Platform,

(04:15):
and they're going to be using AI, their own AI
to be matching employers and job seekers together. Okay, but
where they're going to start, I assume start, maybe finish,
I don't know, But where they're going to start at
least is they want to find people who have got
AI skills and they want to match those with companies

(04:36):
who want people with AI skills. Obviously, they're recognizing the
fact that the world is changing, jobs are changing, They
potentially maybe less entry level jobs and some jobs may disappear.
So they're also going to work on a certifications program
so that you can do these certifications, show that you're
AI is certified, and then sort of make yourself available
for work on this job's platform. But it's really interesting

(05:00):
what chet GPET is going for because they you know,
they're not stopping no with just this with the chatbox
kind of piece, right, They're also looking at a web browser.
They're also looking at a social media app. And the
woman who I said is the one who now runs
the applications team. She was the former head of Facebook,

(05:20):
so when Facebook really large and starting Instagram and WhatsApp,
she was the head of Facebook, so she knows a
thing or two about social media. So just very interesting
to see where this company's going. You know, it's interesting.
I feel kind of bad for some of these startups,
right because there are a lot of startups in the
AI space at the moment who are trying to solve
some very niche problems and then you hear something like this.

(05:43):
It's like, well, here we go open. AI just took lunch, Sorry.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
About it all right? Hey thanks Paul, appreciate your time.
That is texpert Paul Steenhouse, not to be confused with
house painter Paul Steenhouse.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
