Speaker 1 (00:00):
KF The Minnesota Vikings are live from Shields of Eating Prairie,
presented by Unreal Come drop off and unwrapped toy and
help those in need this holiday season and listen to
your favorite kfan shows and great Vikings guess.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Guys, Yes, great Vikings guests all day long year at Shields.
Not so much right now. Right now, we just have
a pug in a French bulldog. At some point there
will be Vikings related guests.
Speaker 3 (00:28):
Don't say that about Saucy.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
That looks like my dog, Mochi, the black Frenchie over there,
the best man. What's that dog's name? Dusty, Dusty Cowtown.
Finally you met a dog named Dusty Cowtown. It's a
good looking dog. Man Marns.
Speaker 4 (00:47):
What do you think, cutie?
Speaker 5 (00:49):
Yeah, looks just like Mabel and Mace very close.
Speaker 4 (00:54):
Yep, yep. Why would you need to know my dogs
and names? Actually?
Speaker 2 (00:57):
I agree with that. That's ridiculous. Everybody's dogs names, that's
next level?
Speaker 4 (01:02):
All right? Should we do fan five? No? Okay, are
you asleep at the wheel?
Speaker 6 (01:11):
Sorry, guys, I was just getting an update on our
situation here with our players.
Speaker 4 (01:14):
So we got somebody that's here in just a moment,
so right on.
Speaker 7 (01:17):
Okay, well, let's just yeah, let's two fan fine.
Speaker 1 (01:21):
Five on the Power Trip presented by Builders and Remmodelers.
Speaker 4 (01:26):
Al Right, thanks builders and remodelers.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
The big news yesterday the Vikings waved wide receiver Adam
Feeling to let him find a bigger role in what
he is calling his final season. He posted on social media,
quote his last few weeks of his career. Feeling is
thirty five years old. We've been asking him again on
this show for years, like how long do you think
you're gonna play? And even you know, we've had him
on I don't know how many times have we had
him on this year? Six yeah, something like that, and
(01:50):
we've even hinted like, hey, we don't know how much
time you have left?
Speaker 4 (01:53):
Oh well, apparently shocking he did.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
This sounds like this is his last year, so he
is going to tire of Viking. He already said that
in his post too, that one day he hopes to
return to sign the old one day bit and retire
of Viking. He'll always be a quote Viking, but for
now he wants a bigger role. So I don't know
if he specifically said he wants to go to a contender.
I would think he would want both write a role
with the contender that where he gets to play and
(02:18):
have a chance to play in the postseason. But he
just wants to play, and that part I can't blame
him at all. If he's got five games left in
his career, nobody wants to be inactive for the last
five games of year career.
Speaker 4 (02:28):
So we'll see what he does.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
Is that, what do you think Martin's I mean, come on,
it's a family.
Speaker 5 (02:32):
Thing, and I think when you've had a career like that,
you've earned the right. And I hope that the conversation
was as it appears to be based on everything we've
read and heard. I hope it was respectful on both
sides and there should have been no issues and no
arguments either way. It's sad that it had to end
(02:53):
like this, but I think Adams deserved this opportunity and Musham.
Speaker 8 (02:57):
Well well, and the inactive status that he Yeah, this
isn't even necessarily a reflection on how he's performing. It's
just you need to invest time in your twenty twenty
six season at this point, and since he's not going
to be part of that twenty twenty sixth season, and
there are other receivers on the roster who could be
that determines who gets the playing.
Speaker 4 (03:16):
Time, and I thought chaos.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
He said something kind of interesting in the the press conferencesity.
I think he mentioned because of the ineptitude right now
of the offense, was it eleven, ten or eleven? It
was something like ten or eleven, fewer passes a game
they're averaging, So not only his role as Adam Deln's
role smaller, the opportunities just are shrinking because they're not
throwing it as much. So you take the percentage of
(03:38):
times that he's out there when they do throw it,
and now you minimize that by ten or eleven a game,
and there's just not a lot of spots for him.
Speaker 6 (03:44):
So here's what I want to say, Adam Deln, if
you do retire. First of all, thanks for your time.
We had so much fun watching you. What a great run,
and what a great story that is a Kurt Warner
as kind of a story for a movie at some point.
But it is time for a former player to become referee.
He talked about it on our show. Well, you know
what I mean, You know what I mean. Sure, I
(04:07):
doubt they make what a player does. But if you
want to clean some stuff up, you want to do it, right.
I somebody's got to do it, Adam. Let's go start
next year.
Speaker 4 (04:18):
Am I right?
Speaker 5 (04:20):
You're right?
Speaker 4 (04:22):
Yeah? Wow? Out? No, Well, love is a strong No.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
What is your name, son, Connor?
Speaker 4 (04:29):
It's nice to meet you.
Speaker 3 (04:31):
Are you an Adam Deeling fan?
Speaker 7 (04:33):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (04:34):
Me too. Who's your favorite Minnesota Viking? Justin Jefferson?
Speaker 4 (04:38):
He's pretty cool? Huh yeah, so Connor?
Speaker 2 (04:41):
You you don't think Adam Feeling should be a referee
next year?
Speaker 4 (04:44):
Why not because he's a player?
Speaker 2 (04:47):
Well, well said, yeah, don't hate you got me put
me there.
Speaker 4 (04:50):
I don't hate the player, I hate the game. Yeah
yeah yeah.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
When you make that kind of money, it might be
hard to transition into being an official.
Speaker 3 (04:57):
Are you Are you busy like at seven o'clock on
week day mornings?
Speaker 4 (05:04):
Cool?
Speaker 6 (05:04):
Because I think you do a good job with Fan five.
We've been looking to replace somebody on the show. If
you're interested, you let me know you've got a resume.
Speaker 4 (05:12):
What's that exactly? It's okay? How do you spell out there?
Thank you?
Speaker 3 (05:18):
What's it you living?
Speaker 6 (05:21):
Thanks for coming all the way down to the part
of Morning Show and Shields. Are you excited for Christmas?
Speaker 4 (05:29):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (05:32):
What do you what do you? What do you want?
What are you asking for?
Speaker 4 (05:36):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (05:37):
Hell yeah, that's the like ther system.
Speaker 4 (05:43):
Yeah that's pretty cool. I thinks kick ass.
Speaker 3 (05:44):
I'm sure you're gonna get Have you been good? Yeah,
you'll get it then.
Speaker 4 (05:49):
Yeah, Santa Hockey, Yeah, I'll put a good word in
for you. He knows I was born on Christmas Day. Yeah,
he knows.
Speaker 3 (05:56):
He doesn't care at all.
Speaker 4 (05:57):
He's a blessing from It's good to talk to you.
Speaker 3 (06:00):
Thanks for being on the pouch it.
Speaker 4 (06:03):
Yep, nailed it. See you later. Hawk and Connor are
going to start a podcast, The Wilder at the Oilers Tonight.
Another Inside Jokes.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
Love it.
Speaker 4 (06:17):
It's my Vietnam.
Speaker 6 (06:18):
I'm gonna ask you a question, answer the question, and
then talk about myself Met sauce.
Speaker 3 (06:25):
Man Inside jokes.
Speaker 4 (06:27):
There's so many. I love them. The Wilder're at the
Oilers tonight.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
The wild to remain one of the hottest teams in
the NHL, eleven one and two in their last fourteen games,
and again it's like a week and a half before
their home again. They take on the Stars on Thursday,
December eleventh. Before that, Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver and Seattle.
Speaker 4 (06:44):
Yeah, it's good to get back on the road.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
I think you know, Zachary, When I was looking at
the old map, the old map of our friends to
the north Canada, Yeah, a lot of provinces, it's reminded
me for the nine hundredth time that I just don't
know Canadian geography at all. Sure, like, I know Vancouver
is above Seattle because they always talk about like whistlers
right above there, and it's like they're right west. But like,
if you had said, here's a map of Canada, put
(07:10):
a pin where Edmonton or Calgary is, and if you
can get within I don't know, five hundred miles to
get you a thousand dollars, I don't think i'd be
even close.
Speaker 4 (07:19):
Yeah, it wasn't for hockey, I probably wouldn't know a
damn thing about Canada. Oh man, you're welcome, dude. He
teaches me every day.
Speaker 6 (07:25):
I do.
Speaker 4 (07:26):
I teach you little things. So this is where Nova
Scotia is, sure, this is where Newfoundland is. How many
provinces it's like ten or eleven, thirteen or something, maybe eleven.
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
This is something bonus would know how many Canadian provinces. No,
it's like ten or eleven? Anybody know thirteen? Now, one
person in this crowd knows.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
You could just say a number.
Speaker 4 (07:46):
Well, yeah, yeah, what is it?
Speaker 2 (07:50):
You think it's eleven? I think it is ten or eleven?
He's going with eleven. Seems like a smart dude, final answer.
Speaker 3 (07:55):
Thank you're right.
Speaker 6 (07:57):
You know, I was told that by this lady at
the stadium the other day that there are like, yeah,
go ahead.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
She was very informative.
Speaker 6 (08:08):
She said there's like a hundred islands off the coast
of Seattle on the sound right there, and that when
it's low tide, there's like one hundred, and when it's
high tide there's like sixty five.
Speaker 3 (08:20):
Okay, wow, for real, that's true. That something is that
called it archipelago.
Speaker 4 (08:24):
I don't know what you just said, are you okay?
An interesting way to pronounce it.
Speaker 7 (08:29):
And then, like a bad guy on Superman, it's sure
archipelago right?
Speaker 4 (08:34):
Maybe yep? What does that mean? So a series of islands? Yeah,
a series of islands like a TV disappear when the
water gets high.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
Hold on, guys, Martin, he's got to drop in.
Speaker 5 (08:45):
I've seen some of those islands because a few years ago,
my mom and her two sisters Lola, Lola and her
two seventy year old two sisters, and I went on
a vacation.
Speaker 4 (08:57):
No good, no gracious, The answer is no.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
She all your hands up, Lola and her two seventy
year old sisters.
Speaker 4 (09:05):
What you do?
Speaker 2 (09:07):
Only need two more wishes?
Speaker 5 (09:10):
We my mom and I flew to Seattle. Her sisters
live north of Seattle, and we got on a ferry
went to some of these islands because you know what's
on a lot of these islands in that area? HOWK
because know? And we we stayed at two different hotels
on on islands in casinos that can only be reached
(09:33):
by faerry. And it was gorgeous. It was summertime and
it was awesome. And I liked to vacation with three
seventy year old women.
Speaker 4 (09:47):
MARTI, can we plan a vacation?
Speaker 2 (09:50):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (09:50):
Do you want me to call Lola, Colleen and Margie Poppy.
We call each other.
Speaker 3 (09:56):
The business of her name is Margie.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
Yeah, she'd add that one to the list.
Speaker 4 (10:02):
He's definitely slept with the Margie he's going through. I
haven't yet. Hey, And you call yourselves the what bizzos?
The bizzos? Oh wow, man, you each have a number.
So what bizzo number are you? Or God?
Speaker 3 (10:18):
So you're the Tommy Olsen of the crew.
Speaker 5 (10:19):
Oh we don't line up.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
Margie's gotta be the O G bizzo. Yeah, bizzo number one,
she's three. Oh God, I was way off.
Speaker 3 (10:28):
Does Margie like the rambunctious one? If you know?
Speaker 2 (10:31):
She the room McClanahan of these Golden Girls, Chris Hockey
of the Golden Girls.
Speaker 5 (10:36):
I mean she definitely had the wild side.
Speaker 4 (10:39):
Yeah recently.
Speaker 5 (10:42):
Sixties?
Speaker 2 (10:43):
Oh yes, does Margie have osteoporosis yet?
Speaker 3 (10:50):
Does she want it?
Speaker 4 (10:52):
Should she want that? Lady from the Shields? Does she
take Boniva?
Speaker 3 (10:57):
I just embarrassed myself.
Speaker 5 (11:00):
Well, I'm telling you, if you ever are just looking
for a place to go, as you sometimes do, you'll
sometimes plan a trip without a whole lot of rhyme
or reason.
Speaker 4 (11:07):
Get that right.
Speaker 5 (11:08):
The coast of Seattle and just ferry boat your way
around it is spectacular.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
So what you're saying is, if Chris goes back to
Seattle with the Vikings in the next couple of years
and he's looking for a place to crash just crash
at that Margie's house. Yeah, and then you can take
take a boat over to the casino. You start at Margie's.
Speaker 5 (11:26):
I mean, Colleen is closer, but.
Speaker 4 (11:29):
For proximity. He's looking for party. Yeah, he doesn't care.
Yeah yeah, party. Yeah, he'll uber anywhere.
Speaker 8 (11:35):
I can't imagine a better vacation for Hawk than going
casino to casino by himself with a bunch of Marquis.
Oh god, with seventy year old Marguis. Oh he loved that.
Oh my goodness, you said with frozen Margis. Oh yeah,
that would be great. Oh man, marks and marks.
Speaker 1 (11:53):
So you get a warmer up, Chris, I must say
something that you made it weird.
Speaker 6 (11:58):
I'm going say I don't mean to be dirty, but
little salt on the rim, oh my.
Speaker 3 (12:04):
Because when you say that's what I think.
Speaker 4 (12:07):
Hey, it's nord O.
Speaker 3 (12:11):
Margie. All right.
Speaker 4 (12:13):
That was the end of that segment of radio.
Speaker 3 (12:15):
Yeah, that's it, man, that was it.
Speaker 4 (12:17):
We got one segment left.
Speaker 6 (12:18):
We're live at the Toys for Tots, drive at Shields,
and eaton Prairie. We love shields and we love shields ladies, and.
Speaker 4 (12:23):
Yeah, yeah, we love it.
Speaker 6 (12:25):
And how about these sweet hats from our friends.
Speaker 3 (12:28):
That unreal.
Speaker 6 (12:29):
They are literally unreal. Nordo's here drinking coffee. Hi, Nordo,
good morning, Hey, good morning everybody.
Speaker 3 (12:34):
Everybody say, I know.
Speaker 9 (12:37):
How I'm feeling terrific. I love the Toys for Tots
bit every year. Nod a personal question. Okay, you ever
slept with a Margie? A Margie Margie?
Speaker 4 (12:47):
No? What is a mark?
Speaker 9 (12:48):
What about a Colleen? You ever hook up with a
Colleen or a Lola? Well, the first time I didn't
get her name. It was an el couch and an
old roommate Andy was there, But I know maybe that
was a Margie. I got a lot of questions about answering.
Saw the lady you sucked with the first time? Would
Hawk all one hundred percent? I think he has.
Speaker 4 (13:08):
We're called brother brothers.
Speaker 9 (13:09):
Ah, all right. My favorite part about unreal. They come
and uh, a double XL guy like myself, still a
little bit of a room.
Speaker 4 (13:18):
No, unreal, it is unreal. It's unreal.
Speaker 6 (13:20):
You should see the coat I was wearing earlier. They
said it was a lady's coat but had fringes on it.
It was a lady's coat, which is perfect for you.
Speaker 9 (13:27):
Whether it's leather it's jeans with diamonds and sequins on them.
That's your fashion statement right there.
Speaker 3 (13:33):
I'm must send at the margin and get her thumbs up.
Speaker 4 (13:35):
Marty. You know that's the Marny.
Speaker 2 (13:36):
That's the point is if if these run a little
big and there's a little extra room in there, you
can fit.
Speaker 4 (13:40):
A Margie in there.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
Smuggler right in, Yes, Smuggler and snuggler, Smuggle.
Speaker 5 (13:46):
And snuggle and marks and marks.
Speaker 4 (13:47):
I'm a smuggler.
Speaker 2 (13:49):
Your MIC's on maright, Marnie and Margie. Sounds like a
podcast as well.
Speaker 5 (13:54):
Yeah, you know it's getting a nice ring.
Speaker 2 (13:57):
It does have a nice ring to it, a nice
room to it. All right, why do you make it weird?
We need to get a bread.
Speaker 4 (14:02):
What's going to be a ridiculous headlines when we come back?
Speaker 2 (14:05):
Yeh, final segment. We go commercial free after this. This
is the power Tip Morning to Lie from Shields.
Speaker 10 (14:09):
And Eden Prairie on FI. Today we are in Eden Prairie.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
Shields, which is Minnesota's largest all sports store. Eden Prairie
has everything from a ferris wheel like sixteen thousand gallon
fish tank, two lanes of bowling, and even an animatronic
statue of John Randall stop by.
Speaker 4 (14:33):
Today this holiday season.
Speaker 6 (14:36):
Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome to the stage here at
Shields Eden Prairie as we do Toys for Tots with
our friends at the Minnesota Vikings.
Speaker 3 (14:43):
Jalen Naylor, ladies and gentlemen, makes you noise?
Speaker 4 (14:47):
Hi? Jayleen, Good morning, Good morning. How are you doing?
Speaker 2 (14:50):
Thanks for swinging by. Man, of course, Aleen Naylor from
Michigan State. We can talk to Michigan State football in
the second man, you got a new coach there. But
let's talk bike first, and let's talk toys for talks
first of all, again, thanks for coming out. This is
super cool. We're trying to collect some toys for a
bunch of kids. Favorite toy growing up? Do you have
something off the top of your head that jumps out?
Speaker 4 (15:10):
No?
Speaker 11 (15:10):
I wasn't really a toy kid. What Yeah, I was
busy with sports too much, so you went outside?
Speaker 4 (15:16):
Yes? Oh no, I was outside. What other sports did
you play?
Speaker 11 (15:21):
I played baseball for a short period of time and
then chrack.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
That's the name speedy, Yes, sir, do you prefer speedy?
Because we've debated this on the show now for about
a year. I just call you Jalen. I have a
hard time calling anybody speedy. It's weird your thoughts.
Speaker 4 (15:36):
On the nickname. I don't really mind. You don't mind it? Yeah?
Speaker 6 (15:39):
Are you guys should have a foot race and just
show them why you're called speedy, Jalen.
Speaker 4 (15:42):
That's what I'm thinking we can do today. Is it
Miles Price? Who's the one that is he the one
that thinks he's faster than you?
Speaker 11 (15:50):
Yeah, Miles Price type Felton Jordan maybe maybe, but none
of them are.
Speaker 4 (15:56):
No.
Speaker 6 (16:00):
I was watching in pregame warm ups the other day
when you're out on the field and you were fielding punts.
I don't know if that's something you do in every
pregame is I asked Paul, I'm like, is something going
on over there? He said, no, he does that all
the time. Is that something you'd like to do? Would
you like to be fielding punts out there? Is that
something you think is fun? Because it scares the heck
out of me every time we punt the ball.
Speaker 11 (16:17):
It definitely scares me as well. But I don't think
I would. I wouldn't mind, you know, but every every
pre game, yeah, I do go out and catch punch,
so I'm just ready if I ever need to go
out there.
Speaker 12 (16:30):
What's it like being in a wide receiver room with
Justin Jefferson and Jordan Aedison.
Speaker 4 (16:34):
That's fantastic, man.
Speaker 11 (16:35):
You got two great guys, even better football players, you know.
So just to have them in the room and just
see what they're doing well and just try to put
that in my game. And then when I see things
that they can improve on, I give them that feedback
as well.
Speaker 4 (16:49):
So it's we got a complete room in there. You know.
Speaker 11 (16:51):
We don't take criticism two series, you know, or to
take it too personal, so we enjoy like helping each
other up.
Speaker 4 (16:59):
Got to ask the hard question.
Speaker 6 (17:00):
I promised you I wouldn't putch in a bad spot,
So I'll just let you take it from here. Talk
to me about Adam Feeling and the time you've spent
with him as a teammate.
Speaker 4 (17:07):
Yeah, Adam has been great. Man.
Speaker 11 (17:08):
Helped me out so much my very first year when
we was there. His last year, it was really great
to just see him play. You know, he's one of
the great Minnesota Vikings. And be able to share room
with him for almost two years, you know, it's amazing, man.
You know, there's just little little tidbits in there with
what he sees in my game that can help me out.
(17:29):
I try to put that in the consideration when I'm
out there taking my next rep. So just having him
as as a role model and as a leader in
our receiver room, it has been amazing.
Speaker 5 (17:38):
Jalen as a wide receiver. A lot of times we'll see,
whether it's you or anyone in the league, the incredible
one headed catches or a toe tap that we're like,
how did he get a toe down?
Speaker 4 (17:49):
How?
Speaker 5 (17:50):
And when do you work on those kinds of little
details that sometimes make for a spectacular play.
Speaker 11 (17:58):
Oh, I wouldn't say I work on it too much
at all. You know, I just let my instincts take
over at that point. And that's just how I am.
I know other guys work on that type of stuff,
but I just have a pretty good feeling of where
I'm out on the field or if I need to
use one or two hands on the ball.
Speaker 8 (18:14):
Is that one of the things that it's one of
the things that you do work on, is you know,
trying to trying to run a route without giving that
route away, and what does that what does that process
look like in terms of like your footwork, which way
your hips are going, which way your eyes are going,
et cetera, to try and get the corner back, less
information to work with as you're trying to get open.
It's a lot of work, you know.
Speaker 11 (18:35):
It's it's the things that people don't see that we
work on, not in the lights. So just having that
feel of not trying to dictate your routes or just
working on your game in general, I feel like that
helps a lot with with knowing like trying to make
everywhere else look the same.
Speaker 8 (18:52):
It almost feels like you're practicing dance books, you know
what I mean, Like I go over and over and
over again, take the footwork with just right.
Speaker 4 (18:59):
Literally yeah, literally, that's how it is.
Speaker 11 (19:01):
But you know, just sometimes we're all humans, so we
make mistakes and sometimes that we will give way around
or we might slip on a on a break this
and there. So I mean, it's just a matter of
just being intentional with your with your fundamentals.
Speaker 6 (19:14):
Jaylor, My friend Davis here physically threatened me if I
didn't let him ask you a question.
Speaker 3 (19:17):
So I'm gonna go ahead, let him do it.
Speaker 4 (19:18):
Go ahead. What's your favorite part of being a wide receiver, you.
Speaker 11 (19:24):
Know, just just bring that incitement to the game and
just having fun out there with with the office line,
the running backs to the quarterback.
Speaker 4 (19:31):
You know, it's just fun being out there.
Speaker 6 (19:34):
If you were on the defensive side, what would you
what position you replay? Because I think we all saw
the tackle this past weekend when it looked like you
were a tiger waiting to attack somebody.
Speaker 3 (19:43):
Is that something you'd like to try at some.
Speaker 11 (19:45):
Point if it calls for me, you know, but I'd
rather make the catches and touchdowns. So sure, you definitely
don't test the ball as much on defense, but I
wouldn't mind it.
Speaker 4 (19:57):
I'll probably play safety if I had a choice.
Speaker 6 (20:00):
It did look as if when he was running towards you,
you kind of sized him up and waited for him.
Can you take me through that moment that was that
what was happening, because that's.
Speaker 4 (20:08):
How it looked for the most part.
Speaker 11 (20:09):
Yeah, I mean I knew he was going to come
back to where I was, and I just found that
little void to where he can only go through that way.
And I seen him running full speed at me. So
I wasn't gonna let him like run me over anything
like that. No, I just made a great tackle.
Speaker 6 (20:25):
Yeah, did you Did you specifically try to knock the
ball out as well or was that just something that
happened because of the violence of the tackle.
Speaker 4 (20:32):
I kind of just wanted to hit him.
Speaker 3 (20:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
Did he say anything to you afterwards? Because he looked
so mad at himself for fumbling? But did he say
anything to you after the game or after the hit?
Speaker 4 (20:41):
He did? He did? You know?
Speaker 11 (20:43):
He thought he was gonna run me over, So we
had a little bit of laughter there. Just just just
two competitors, you know, And I made a great play
on him, and he made a great play to just
started off with the interception. So it's just a competitive
aspect of me to just go out there and play
my heart out.
Speaker 5 (20:59):
Did you played both sides of the ball in high school?
Speaker 4 (21:02):
In high school? I did. Yes.
Speaker 11 (21:04):
My last year I played a little bit of safety.
So that's why I feel more comfortable that.
Speaker 4 (21:08):
Where'd you play high school football? Bishop Gormant in Vegas?
Oh Man Gorman?
Speaker 2 (21:13):
Okay, yes, it's it's it's for those of you that
are not big Las Vegas people or high school football people,
it's kind of insane when you're flying out of Vegas.
How you can see. It's like you can see the
Great Wall of China from the moon. You can see
Bishop Gorman from almost every airplane because it just looks
absolutely massive. It's like a pro it's like a pro
level program. Just it's a high school in Las Vegas.
Speaker 4 (21:35):
That's all it is, man, That's all it is.
Speaker 3 (21:37):
Did you did you win a couple of state titles
out there?
Speaker 4 (21:40):
Oh?
Speaker 11 (21:40):
Yeah, we won four when I was there.
Speaker 4 (21:42):
We won four.
Speaker 11 (21:44):
We won we went all four and then we had
a couple of national championships that we won there as well.
Speaker 2 (21:48):
My goodness, man, So are you from there or do
you move there to go play football? I moved there
to go play from where? From California? From California to
Las Vegas?
Speaker 11 (21:58):
Man?
Speaker 5 (21:58):
Who were some of your high schools teammates that are
now in the NFL.
Speaker 11 (22:03):
Sedgric Tillman the receiver for the Browns, Revan Jordan tight
end for Detetions, my boy Kyu Kelly cornerback for the Raiders.
Speaker 4 (22:12):
So we got a couple of guys there that's like
an all star team. Yeah, that's really something.
Speaker 6 (22:20):
So you've done a lot of winning and this has
been a tough year for Vikings. Fans, Vikings, coaches, everybody,
and specifically every guessed for the players.
Speaker 4 (22:29):
How are you holding up mentally right now with the season. Uh,
you know, I feel fine.
Speaker 11 (22:33):
You know, we still got five more games to go
out and compete, and I'm just decided to still have
those opportunities to go play football. So no matter what
the record is, you know, I feel like, as football players,
we want to go out there and play, so.
Speaker 4 (22:45):
We're just going to give our all each week.
Speaker 2 (22:47):
You said something interesting to Ben Lieber a couple days
ago about how as a receiver there's not really much
you can do when it comes to who plays quarterback,
whether it's Carson Wentz or McCarthy or Brosmer. And obviously
the ball has to be caught no matter who's throwing it,
But the like, how long does it take you to
get used to somebody like you know, how many reps
did you have this season with Brozenberg before last Sunday?
Speaker 11 (23:08):
I say, I have had a good amount, you know,
throughout OTA's training camp and a couple of times throughout practice.
So I mean it wasn't a big big change changeover
for me. You know, I just see it as as chiefs,
we got to get open, and we got to make
it easy on the quarterback as we can and just
catch the ball when it's thrown to us.
Speaker 12 (23:25):
It's got to be a great feeling knowing you get
to go back to the US Bank Stadium and play
a noon game and get back into everything you know,
normal as it comes to football.
Speaker 11 (23:33):
Of course, you know, we got the best fans in
the league, so to be able to have a few
more opportunities to play.
Speaker 4 (23:39):
Out in front of them, you know, it's a blessing.
Speaker 6 (23:41):
Jalen, who's got the worst fans in the league. Let's
just be honest because we have a Philadelphia Ego fan
over here. I'm not going to plant out who they
are or anything like that, but I think would you
agree that Philadelphia is like the worst fans?
Speaker 4 (23:58):
He's not wrong, Chrissy. Would you like to defend them
at all?
Speaker 6 (24:01):
I don't think the people who hosted the of Eagles
tailgate when it was here said that the Ravens fans
three weeks later were much worse.
Speaker 4 (24:09):
Well, there you go.
Speaker 11 (24:11):
I haven't played in Baltimore by playing in Philly, and
it's it's not fun.
Speaker 6 (24:15):
Would you like to apologize for all Philadeph Eagle thing. No,
that's what I figured out. Yeah, shocking, Yeah, that true
wife right there.
Speaker 4 (24:22):
John.
Speaker 2 (24:22):
See you went to Michigan State, right, They have a
new coach, right, Pat Fitzgerald going back from from Northwestern
now to to Michigan State.
Speaker 4 (24:31):
Your thoughts about him reeverging in the Big Ten. I
love that.
Speaker 11 (24:34):
I love that move that we made. You know, I
played against a couple of Northwestern teams. You know, they
always fought hard. So just to have that kind of
kind of guy leading the team out next year, I
think it's gonna be funnier for us.
Speaker 3 (24:45):
Tell me about JJ McCarthy, would you.
Speaker 6 (24:47):
I'm obviously I've never met him, none of us here
in the audience probably ever. Have you know him very well.
You've seen him in highs and lows. You've seen him
in his best times on divorce times. Talk to me
about his demeanor and how you think he's doing right now.
Speaker 11 (25:01):
I feel like he's throwing well, you know, he's just
eager to get back, get back on the practice field
and and get back to playing with the guys. Man
and his energy that he brings in day in and
day out, it goes, it goes unmatched so just to
have him and have him be our captain. You know,
that energy that he brings, he gives us a little
edge when we when we go out there and play.
Speaker 4 (25:21):
Is there a such a thing as throwing a football
too hard?
Speaker 2 (25:23):
Because that's been one of the criticisms of McCarthy is
that he basically throws the rocket ball all the time.
No Tom Brady on a TV broadcast a couple of
weeks ago.
Speaker 4 (25:32):
So that can be learned, that can be taught.
Speaker 2 (25:35):
How do you feel about the fastball that he throws.
Speaker 11 (25:41):
It's it's tough to It's tough to judge sometimes because
we don't have the laces on the ball, so we
can't tell or or the stripes on the balls, so
we can't really tell how much velocity is going into
that throw. So sometimes you when you hear him throw,
you can actually hear the ball whistle out his hand,
so geez.
Speaker 4 (25:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 11 (25:59):
So he he does put a lot into it, and
you know, there's certain moments where you do need that
fast ball and certain moments you don't. But that's part
of his learning process, the things that he has.
Speaker 4 (26:08):
To work on.
Speaker 2 (26:09):
So if the ball had stripes, you think it'd be
a lot easier.
Speaker 4 (26:11):
Is that what you're saying? Yeah, because you can tell
how about yeah, the rotation college ball.
Speaker 2 (26:15):
Yeah, so just like just like the seams on a baseball,
if you saw it coming out of his hands and
the stripes were there, you'd be able to judge it faster.
Speaker 4 (26:21):
Yeah. Wow, that makes a ton of sense. Never thought
of it like that.
Speaker 3 (26:24):
You said something to Ben Lieber in the locker room.
Speaker 6 (26:26):
We were talking to the other day as well about
the different calls for the quarterback or something. I can't
remember exactly how you put it, but we played it
yesterday back and I found it interesting. Is it a
situation when the quarterback is up under center and changing
the play? Is that where you were referencing? Sometimes it's
it gets difficult to hear what's going on, or it's
different from quarterback to quarterback.
Speaker 4 (26:46):
H No, not really.
Speaker 11 (26:48):
It's more of a just hearing the calls in the
huddle and then when he does check to those type
of plays, we all remember what what that second play
is so well. But sometimes it is it is hard
to hear on the road. Just just being verbal within
the receiver room, you know, to give each other to
signals they can signals things like that. But it's a
(27:08):
matter of just communicating over communicating.
Speaker 6 (27:11):
And it probably helps to do it over and over
and over again with the same guy, and that's why
the injuries have been so hard, right, Yeah, of course,
anybody go ahead, Marty what I thought you had your
hand up. I'm sorry, I don't have my glass. Apologies,
I can't.
Speaker 5 (27:22):
See from here, Jalen, I had already asked you about
if you work on the toe tap or the circus
catches or anything like that, do you take extra special
care of your hands? Especially in the winter time you
get those cracked fingertips for some people, some people sleeping
in gloves. Because you're a guy who makes his money
with his hands. What kind of extra special care do
(27:44):
you take on a regular basis of them hands?
Speaker 4 (27:49):
Nothing?
Speaker 6 (27:49):
Really, you creeped out, Jalen Naylor.
Speaker 7 (27:53):
I guess he's on stage with us, giving us his
time and you just creeped him out. Are they are
they huge hands? Because little hands, I say, minds are
too big. I could play in the mines.
Speaker 4 (28:08):
Aren't too big? Yeah?
Speaker 6 (28:10):
Yeah, Corey is disagreeing, But I'm just thinking, like j
Loo has her butt insured, right, I think a lot
of NFL receiver should have their hands insured.
Speaker 4 (28:18):
What if? What if you lose a hand in a
farming accident. We're never going to get another bike.
Speaker 2 (28:22):
It's never gonna happen. Just saying, man, make that money,
Jalen farm. I don't know if Jalen farms or not.
Who knows, Maybe he does.
Speaker 4 (28:29):
Not at all. What do you do for fun outside
of football? Not farming? I played video games? Yeah? Which one?
Two K?
Speaker 12 (28:36):
Call of du Do you play MLB the Show? Because
I do? You gotta play it. It's the best sports
video game of all time.
Speaker 4 (28:43):
I do.
Speaker 11 (28:44):
I do play it, but it's been it's been a
while since I haven't played it.
Speaker 4 (28:47):
It's super fun. I love it. I love it. I
love it.
Speaker 2 (28:49):
So now you're an avid indoorsman. When you were younger,
you went outside and played sports? Yes, got it?
Speaker 4 (28:55):
Yes? What was that like? I mean, going outside was fun?
Did you have friends and stuff too? Yeah? That sounds awesome,
sounds super cool.
Speaker 3 (29:05):
Yeah, sounds a good life.
Speaker 4 (29:07):
Good for you, dude.
Speaker 6 (29:07):
Absolutely, So we're here for toys for tots again, Jalen
Nayler's our guess in case you're just tuning in, but
obviously we appreciate you being out here and talk to
me about Uh, you had little ones, you had your
family's ready for Christmas? Have you got the tree up
and everything ready to go?
Speaker 4 (29:20):
The tree is up and that is it?
Speaker 6 (29:22):
Yeah, yeah, that's why you're here at Shields today.
Speaker 4 (29:25):
It's time to load them up. I should do some
shopping myself.
Speaker 2 (29:28):
That's tough though, Like we we just did that story yesterday.
Was it like somebody in Michigan had their entire all
the packages opened and stolen. It's like, well, why did
you have your present under your tree a month ahead?
Speaker 6 (29:41):
You're more upset at them than you are about the
people who broke into their house.
Speaker 2 (29:45):
If I remember right, the guy like after he broke
into the house and he took a nap on the couch,
so he didn't even like break in and steal him.
He opened them all up and then took a nap.
What are you doing? Either rob him or don't?
Speaker 3 (29:55):
Right, Jalen, We don't know each other that well.
Speaker 4 (29:58):
But I got you a gift. I brought you this.
Oh I love that.
Speaker 3 (30:03):
It's pretty good, right.
Speaker 11 (30:04):
I don't have any pajamas, so yeah, got a hood
on and everything like that.
Speaker 6 (30:09):
It's it's covered in cats and athing like that. So
I don't know something about I knew it. I knew
you were gonna like that.
Speaker 4 (30:14):
Do we have to pay you? But how much?
Speaker 2 (30:18):
How much would we have to pay to wear that
on the field during warm ups on Sunday?
Speaker 4 (30:24):
You're thinking about it? I love yes, good amount, good
good amount. It's different to you, and I don't think
I can go out like that. We'll pay the fine.
Isn't there a fine? We'll pay the fine? Is it
like a hundred bucks? All right? Then you're on your own,
Mike Clea, it's my cause.
Speaker 3 (30:43):
Last week, my pajamas, my.
Speaker 4 (30:44):
Cause, let's go. I like, okay, that's pretty. I got
a matching pair.
Speaker 5 (30:48):
In case you're wondering, what are the ages of your kids?
Speaker 4 (30:53):
Two and three?
Speaker 5 (30:54):
Two and three?
Speaker 4 (30:55):
Yes?
Speaker 5 (30:55):
Do they already? Did they show interest in playing football?
Speaker 11 (31:00):
No? No interest? But watching They they love to watch.
Speaker 5 (31:03):
And as a parent, how would you feel if you're
twoing or are they boys girls?
Speaker 4 (31:07):
Girls?
Speaker 5 (31:08):
Flag football? Coming up?
Speaker 11 (31:10):
I mean possibly, if they were into it, I would
I wouldn't mind it.
Speaker 5 (31:15):
Because sometimes sometimes we as parents, you get that extra
protective layer of I know I did that, but I
don't want you to do that. Whether it's you know,
cracking a beer in high school or playing football.
Speaker 2 (31:27):
It's it's like white Sauce isn't a lawyer, right, His
dad didn't want him to follow in his footsteps.
Speaker 4 (31:31):
Right for the same reasons.
Speaker 2 (31:33):
Yeah, yeah, are you?
Speaker 5 (31:37):
What kind of girl dad are you?
Speaker 9 (31:39):
Like?
Speaker 5 (31:39):
How would you describe yourself your parenting?
Speaker 11 (31:42):
I think I'm very soft with them. I let him,
I let him do what they want. I let him
get whatever they want. You're the good cup in the relationship.
Speaker 4 (31:49):
I am the good cup. Yeah, definitely the same. I'm
definitely a good cup.
Speaker 6 (31:54):
Well, I'll tell you Jayleen. We appreciate you getting up
early coming out. Here's let's make some more as we
get ready to go to the US Bank Stadium. I
know that obviously. The fans uh, you know, they're tough.
They they they deserve to be at certain times, but
they love this team.
Speaker 3 (32:10):
So uh, we're all rooting for you man.
Speaker 4 (32:12):
Good luck and thank you for me, good time, appreciate great, thanks.
Speaker 6 (32:15):
Much time, everybody, jam thank you very much, appreciate it
very much. Toys for Tots once again as we uh oh.
Speaker 3 (32:23):
Yeah, there you go.
Speaker 4 (32:23):
That's his sharpie there.
Speaker 6 (32:24):
Yeah, right Toys for Tots once again, and thanks to
the Minnesota Vikings for having Jalen Naylor out here. And uh,
I don't know, man, I'll tell you. I still want
to watch him have a foot race with you, Corey.
I just want to sit him.
Speaker 4 (32:35):
I would lose, of course you would. You need to
know why they call him speedy. I would lose.
Speaker 2 (32:39):
Yes, it would be awesome if if Levi Drake Rodriguez
had showed up right like, we could have had Speedy
versus slow Polk say that.
Speaker 3 (32:46):
That is a I don't think you can say that.
I'm not sure you should have say that.
Speaker 4 (32:50):
But one of the all time great card of the
great characters.
Speaker 3 (32:53):
And you know what, I would love to see that
T shirt. That's pretty awesome.
Speaker 8 (32:57):
What if we had what if we had a race
between Hockey and Speedy in like a shield supermarket sweep?
Speaker 4 (33:03):
Oh win have to wear the cat onesies.
Speaker 3 (33:09):
I'm definitely going to buy him song.
Speaker 4 (33:10):
Did you buy Lady cot.
Speaker 6 (33:12):
Of course I did. I don't care if it's a
lady's coat. I like it has spurls on it. I
feel cool.
Speaker 4 (33:16):
Lady Cote makes me feel pretty.
Speaker 3 (33:18):
I like it all right?
Speaker 4 (33:19):
Should we do headlines to wrap up the show quickly.
No headlines.
Speaker 2 (33:23):
Brought to you by my friends at Wolf River Electric
and Wolf Riverelectric dot Com. Go Solar, get solar panels
put on. That's what I did last year. There are
awesome people. Solar panels are sweet, Wolf Riverelectric dot Com.
Rolling Stone put out their list End of the year
lists are coming out now. The ten best movies of
the year go as follows. I haven't heard on battle
(33:44):
after another. I haven't heard of a lot of these.
Something called sentimental value is number ten. No idea that
spreads me. You don't know about that.
Speaker 4 (33:51):
Marty Supreme is number nine.
Speaker 2 (33:52):
That's the Timothy Shallomey movie that people are raving about him.
Speaker 4 (33:55):
Is like a ping pong. Oh yeah, yeah, okay, got it.
Speaker 2 (33:57):
People are saying shallow May kicks ass in that movie.
That's number nine. Something called Sorry Baby is number eight.
Sorry Danny, no idea what that is? Exactly? Number seven?
No other choice. Yeah, that's Hawk when he buys coats.
Speaker 3 (34:12):
Nope, that's us when we hired you for the morning show.
Speaker 2 (34:15):
No, that was number six, which is it was just
an accident.
Speaker 4 (34:20):
Never heard of that you?
Speaker 3 (34:21):
Oh, that's what that's a movie about his birth.
Speaker 2 (34:25):
Wow, I believe that was also number eight, Sorry, baby.
Number five, I'm not even making these up. Number five
is something called novelle Vogue.
Speaker 4 (34:36):
What the hell are these movies?
Speaker 12 (34:38):
Number four Hawks started when he was in Moonshine.
Speaker 4 (34:41):
Number four is Train Dreams. I think that's on Netflix.
Speaker 9 (34:45):
Brother.
Speaker 2 (34:45):
Number three is black Bag insert joke here. Number two
is Hamnet. And again, this is how dumb I am.
Whenever I'm watching Jeopardy, which is almost every day because
Ken Jennings kicks ass. One of my blind spots in
life is Shakespeare, for sure. Sure, So every time, like
if the clue is like anything that's not Romeo and Juliet,
I'm always sitting on my coach going.
Speaker 4 (35:05):
Well, it's got to be Hamlet.
Speaker 2 (35:07):
It's it's always wrong. I just guess Hamlet. When I
saw the ad for Hamnet, I'm like, did they misspell
the son of a bitch?
Speaker 4 (35:13):
What Hamnet? Hamnet?
Speaker 3 (35:16):
It's a female ass, Hamlet.
Speaker 4 (35:17):
That's exactly what it is. Whatever the hell that is?
Speaker 2 (35:19):
Hamnet's number two, and then number one is one Battle
after another, the Leona DiCaprio movie that everybody is saying,
I'm gonna win Best Picture.
Speaker 6 (35:29):
It's got the coolest car chase scene I've ever seen.
It's it's supposed to be very long, and it's very cool.
Speaker 4 (35:34):
And Leo's great baby driver. Yes, really, one battle after
another question?
Speaker 5 (35:40):
Should Wicked for Good be on that list?
Speaker 4 (35:43):
Uh, it didn't make.
Speaker 5 (35:44):
It's not a top ten movie of the year, it
didn't make the top twenty.
Speaker 6 (35:47):
I really enjoyed it. I really really enjoyed it. And
I'll see you Wicked for Good besides me, anybody? Yeah, yeah, right, yeah,
I mean it's not a feel good film.
Speaker 5 (35:55):
Yeah. I will be seeing it on Friday with my
friend Michelle, and I heard your review of it saying it's.
Speaker 2 (36:02):
Not your friend, Michelle wood Hawk after Markie, Tony would
be so pissed. I don't think I didn't ask about Tony.
Speaker 4 (36:16):
Tony wouldn't care. So you're gonna see Wicked Tony would Zach?
Oh my god, Michelle would be so pis Michelle doesn't care.
Speaker 5 (36:27):
Yes, Michelle and I are going to Wicked for Good.
And I heard your review Hawks say it's a little
bit dark and heavy and it's not a feel good
and so I'm kind of prepping myself for like, okay,
am I not gonna love it like I loved the
first one because it doesn't make me dance out of
the movie theater.
Speaker 6 (36:45):
The lowered expectations are going to help you a lot. Oh,
I know, it's it's not a bad film, it's just
not it's not happy go lucky like the first one.
They're not you know, they're not dancing around there. Okay,
they're dealing with some pretty dark stuff like we are
in the real world.
Speaker 5 (36:57):
I mean, that's not a great sign if it's not
a top twenty movie of the year.
Speaker 4 (37:01):
Little surprising number twenty.
Speaker 2 (37:03):
Christopher based on how the movie was received when it
came out, Weapons all the way down at number twenty.
Speaker 4 (37:10):
So good, so good? Anybody else see that? Everybody loves
that movie. It's so good. I guess.
Speaker 6 (37:15):
I still say it's the funniest scene in any film
I've seen all year when when the when the kids
are chasing, I laughed out loud. I'm the only person
at the air laughing. But it was the best part
in it. It's it's a great film. It's completely original.
I love that Weapons. Scary as hell.
Speaker 4 (37:31):
Mike really good.
Speaker 5 (37:31):
My kids both sided and I saw the previous and
I was.
Speaker 3 (37:34):
Like, no, I'm gonna do it.
Speaker 4 (37:35):
I can't not gonna do it.
Speaker 5 (37:36):
Yes, that's so one where the lady had the haircut, right,
they had the bowl cut or the aunt.
Speaker 4 (37:43):
Yes, she's scary and mean. Yeah, man, that's my dream girl.
Speaker 2 (37:50):
Nearly seventy percent of straight millennial men say they've never
or rarely updated their dating profiles since first creating them.
So whatever they first input, that's they just stick with,
whether it's working or not.
Speaker 4 (38:04):
Somebody just said who said yes out there? It was abbot.
Yeah he's never changed his dating profile. You only get older.
Speaker 2 (38:11):
Yeah yeah, yeah, I mean your interests could change, your job,
could change, your location, could change.
Speaker 12 (38:19):
Your women's coat could change. Oh, he's gonna keep that
one forever.
