Speaker 3 (02:01):
You know?

Speaker 4 (02:01):
I'm hungry. I'm trying to figure out what food I
want to order?

Speaker 1 (02:04):
Really, yeah, I'm hunger.

Speaker 4 (02:06):
I'm here till seven too, so I gotta get food.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
You can do a little grub hub. Yeah, I don't
do that. I don't do it. I don't pay the feest.
I'm the guy that goes to pick up pizza. I'm
the guy that goes I do takeout curbside to me
when I see the check and it's like ten dollars
or fifteen dollars extra for delivery. And you know your
burger is gonna be soggy, your fries are gonna be bunk.

(02:28):
Like I don't do the delivery, I'll pick it up.
I'm with you. I never thought of it this way.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
But you know, kids get like grub Hub delivered to
their high schools, to their junior high school.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
Thing.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
Yeah, because my daughter tells me kids get like burgers delivered.
I'm like, you realize that was like a joke at
fast Times at Richmond High.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
Remember he gets the pizza delivered and soiled joke from
the eighties. The reality of the twenty twenty hours that's crazy.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
Hey, so yeah, kids are taking advantage of that. I
never even thought of it. But anyway, I'm Steve Cavino.
I'm hungry too, So let's get through the show. Let's
have some fun, let's get ready for the weekend. And
before we get into Scott Scheffler rich I know he's
on your mind.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
I'll leave it at that, he's on my mind. What
does I handle the OJ thing properly? You know I'm
about to post a video you and I just did
in the Fox Sports radio lobby before he went on
the air. I think we did our whole take is there.
But I thought about it. When was the last time
a quote unquote villain died other than like Osama bin Ladener,

(03:32):
like a serial killer or Saddam Hussein. So this is
the first time in a long time a villain, yeah,
not just a villain, was also a guy that everybody
loved at one point. I can't say the same about
osamap and Laden, right, So that's what makes it different.
Osamup and Laden didn't have me cracking up in in

(03:54):
naked God. I mean that is true, right, So we
talked about it.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
It's been forty eight hours. It's sunking in now. I
think we handled it just right. We weren't crude about it.
I don't think that's the approach. I don't think the
Caitlyn Jenner approach is the right approach, even though.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
I got it ridden shit. Yeah, but someone still died,
and not only oj and there was a lot of victims.
So it's really not a joking matter. Right, you don't
want to be rude and crude about it, but it's
also a situation where you don't want to be like
overly sympathetic about it either, because I.

Speaker 5 (04:29):
Don't see any jokes on social media.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
Well that's it.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
And I'm not saying it's wing to even laugh at
it either, because I mean, it's still funny, right, That's
the whole point of comedy is bringing some light to,
you know, some dark moments.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
Let it be know. I don't give a you don't
have to press the dumb button, Sam, I don't give
a funk or wagnal, your favorite encyclopedia brand a terrible
terry funk. I don't give a funk or wagnell about
the perception of what I say about OJ. I'm just
curious in general, how do you think we as a
public responded, Meaning, you know, any time as a public

(05:04):
just spread out everywhere. But I'm just saying, usually a
celebrity dies and it's a lot of people that don't
even really know or care about the celebrity, and they
make it about themselves, like, oh my god, I was
such a huge fan of I don't know, give me
a sad story. Who passed away told me Keith, you
know I was such a big fan, and You're like,
I was gonna go with Paul Rubins. Paul Rubins, Yeah,

(05:26):
that was heartbreaking. I love Pewey Herman, and it's usually
you know, if you have a picture with that person,
it's very self indulgent to be like, look at me
with the dead person with OJ, I'm like, oh, how
are people going to respond to this? And you know what,
the memes the Internet wins every time. The hearst that
was made out of a bronco saw that one.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
There's an up and coming comedian named Troy Bond. I
thought it was funny. He goes, you know, like rest
in p so ojo is picture of him in Cuba
Gooding Junior.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
Like I thought, I thought, I want to laugh as
some funny things. That doesn't mean we need to laugh
about someone's would would have been better if it was him?
And Tim Meadows. Oh yeah, that was a good one.
That was some good I retweeted Iowa Sam's Tim Meadows
bit from SNL. I saw one from where he wrote
I did it in the Tellustrator Telecaster Telestrator tell a tellustrator,

(06:16):
illustrator comedian Mark normand yeah, he's great, He's really funny.
He reposted a picture and it was like I didn't
do it cancer, Yeah, like right, didn't do it, So, hey,
you can make jokes. I guess it's OJ. But hey,
we posted a video at Covino and Rich. But like

(06:37):
you said, there's a lot to get to today in
the world of sports and entertainment.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
Uh, can I wrap it up by saying, I think
it's okay to feel or be confused or conflicted when
it comes to OJ. I think that's really what we're
getting that we're posing that question because you don't know
how to feel, you don't know how to react, you
don't know what's appropriate and what's not. Because he was
such a polarizing figure in our lifetime, our you will
be the biggest scandal and sports scandal and story of

(07:05):
our life. You know when we went over that yesterday,
By the way, we forgot Amy Fisher and Joey Buttafuco.
We forgot that classic scandal growing up. We forgot a
few and that was a hell of a great conversation.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
Yes, if you missed number one answer we missed, we
said Tanya Harding and Jeff Galuleian, Thegons, We said, the
flate Gate, we said every scandal possible. We forget Joey
Buttafuoco and his muscle pants Amy Fisher, and we were
living on the East Coast at the time. There's one
we forgot. I'm gonna give you ten seconds to think
about it. I'll give you a hint the rain and Bobbit,

(07:40):
you stay away from my junks. So John Wayne Bobbit.
That's a good one. There's one. I'll give you a hint.
College football. Come on, we didn't mention Reggie Bush. We did. Yeah,
you guys are still missing the ball. Now they're good.
One though, Danny g One brought up Man Tito and

(08:03):
his fake girlfriend line. That was an amazing scandal, But
that was crazy. These are scandals and stories on different levels,
for sure. And again my point is the OJ.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
One was so big and so polarizing, and he was
so beloved at one point in such a villain at another.
I think it's okay to feel conflicted. I think that's
the point we're getting at the end. You know what,
you can chime in with your response on our Instagram
at Covino and Rich because we just posed this question.
I said, Hey, if you don't know how to feel,
watch Naked Gun. It's a great movie.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
So at Covino and Rich chime in there, and if
you missed our discussion about it, catch it on the
podcast is search Covino and Rich. How about this hashtag
FOJ hashtag rest in peace, Norburg? You could miss Norburg.
He was a hell of a character. He was he No.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
Three heroin Frank, I think he was so either way,
we have lots to get to and one of the
stories ist Scheffler.

Speaker 1 (09:01):
Rich, I know you're a big fan, huge now. I
just thought this story was right up our Steampipe Allley
Mario Canton style. Well, I mean, my Iyesay's kind of bad,
but he's on top of the leaderboard here right Yeah,
he's tied for first right now. But here's the story
Morning Glory.

Speaker 2 (09:21):
By the way, look at all those tight white pants
at the Masters right now.

Speaker 1 (09:24):
I saw a very funny clip from comedian Tom Sigoura
speaking of comedy a tight white pants. Wasn't Tom, it
was Louis c k, one of my other favorites. I
think you're mixing up everybody. I don't even think it
was Mark Norman before. I think it was Sam Morril.
I think you're just confusing all the comedians possible but
Louis c. K does a great bit where he's like,
I wish I had the confidence to wear white pants.
Everybody's talking about my wife pants. He's like, imagine going

(09:47):
out of the house just thinking like I'm not gonna
spill ketchup or any like the confidence a man must
have to wear white pants. I don't own a pair.
But to the story, enough horse it around.

Speaker 4 (10:00):
Mhm.

Speaker 1 (10:01):
Scotty Scheffler on top of the leaderboard. Now his wife
is pregnant. Congrats to Scott and his wife. Yeah, had
a wild night about nine months ago. Scotty Scheffler is
saying that if his wife goes into labor, he's prepared
to just jet and leave the masters no matter what.

(10:24):
First place seven under day two, and he's ready to
be like, if it happens, I'm out. Is this the
first child? That's a that's a good question. The second
one doesn't count? Yeah, second one, well, I don't have kids,
so I really don't know. The first born of five,
I could, yeah, agree with Monzi, it doesn't matter after that, Yeah, like.

Speaker 4 (10:45):
The first I honestly, I think the first one is
probably why he's saying that's crazy though.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
Think my parents cared about my brother.

Speaker 4 (10:53):
The toilet baby didn't care about the first one.

Speaker 1 (10:56):
They cared about me. My brother was raised by wolf. Yeah,
I care about my brother. I'm like, hey, did anyone
bathe this kid? My brother and the nose picker? That
kid was raised by nobody. Can I give you the
difference on its mothered. I try very hard to make
sure my two kids I treat them equal. But you
do have a propensity as a parent to really pay

(11:19):
attention to the oldest. Because I look back and this
is something little, but you you say little, this is
a big one in my family. I'm one of three.
Do you know that I had braces and my brother
and sister did it?

Speaker 2 (11:32):
Yeah? The leg ones right, you were like Elvis Forrest Company.
I was like for a scope, No, I had braces.
My brother and sister didn't have perfect teeth. But I
think by them, they're like.

Speaker 1 (11:42):
Who cares? Uh? Yeah, that's actually I feel like they's
not that they gave me more money for your parents
love them any less.

Speaker 2 (11:50):
It's just they sort of throw caution to the wind,
as they say, like you know, if he falls, he falls,
or it's just a different level of concern when it
comes to the other.

Speaker 1 (11:59):
End is now they're not expecting for a couple of weeks,
but we all know that there could be healthy babies
born weeks ahead of time. Danny G I know you
are on high alert when Brenda was pregnant because we
were doing the show, doing a little traveling, and I
remember you being like, yo, it could happen it any day.

Speaker 5 (12:17):
I made sure we were broadcasting live from Las Vegas.

Speaker 1 (12:21):
Yeah. So my thought is I have a thought on
this as well. Where where are you realistic? Where are
you old school? I don't even know what that would
even mean. Old school means you don't care. My thought is,
what would it have to be?

Speaker 2 (12:35):
School means that your dad has an awkward time saying
he loves you, and he seems to be a little disconnected,
but you know he cares.

Speaker 1 (12:45):
Okay, I get that. Yeah, And did he have to
be there? Not really? You know, my mom likes to
say my granted my parents are divorced, but my dad,
my mom likes to say. You know, your dad, when
your sister was born, he was out playing poker with
his buddies, and he's stopped by the hospital and then
went back to play poker. I'm like that sounds old school.
My sister is the third born. That sounds old school. Yeah,

(13:06):
but what would it have to be for you to
miss the birth of your first child. Now, I'm a
father of two, and I'll tell you this, there is
the joy in the magical moment of like, holy crap,
I'm a dad. But if I was in first place
at the Masters, listen, I'm a radio host. I feel
proud of what I do for a living. But I'm
not in the Masters on the leaderboard at number one.

(13:27):
I'm not pitching Game seven of the World Series. I'm
not in the super Bowl. I'm not, you know, in
the heavyweight main event at a UFC event, if that
so happened to line up with the birth of your
first child. Aren't there exceptions? And I'm usually the guy
that says family first. I say family.

Speaker 2 (13:46):
These are exceptional people and they're doing exceptional things, and
that's what makes it different. I'm not saying they're more
important than you, but they're doing once in a lifetime
like they hit the life lottery. And you got to
let I think you gotta let him play it out
in these moments.

Speaker 1 (14:04):
And I think a good wife and I'm not saying
his isn't. But I'm saying a good wife or good
partner flip it and reverse it. I don't care would
say no, you do what you gotta do. I'll be
fine because you're doing this for the family and we're
proud of you. And I think here's my thought on this.
I think that's today just put so much unnecessary pressure
on themselves, me being one.

Speaker 2 (14:24):
Of them, to be at every event, to be overly
compassionate and present. And you know what, man, as a provider,
man or woman like, you gotta do what you gotta
do sometimes and you can't make every event, but you
live with this guilt that you gotta be there.

Speaker 1 (14:41):
You're also and you're a bad person if you're not.
You're also trying to make up for previous generations that
were That's it. Un President, You're like and you know
you can never at the end of it. That's the
other part.

Speaker 2 (14:52):
Like Scott Scheffer is like, you know what, I know
him in the Masters, but my wife will never let
me live it down if I'm not there because of
all this unnecessary pressure.

Speaker 1 (15:00):
Is not fair. You gotta let this guy be a
man absolutely as Rocky said, or a woman on the
flip side of you're quoting Rocky, I am being Rocky. Well,
if it was a woman, dude, she'd have to be
there to say. This is a particular Like. I'm not
trying to sound sexist, right, I'm saying a man also
has to support his woman in whatever scenario you want

(15:23):
to choose. But in this scenario, you gotta let this
dude do what he does. He's a golfer man. Well,
what is Rocky said to Adrian when she doesn't want
him to fight? You're Adrian like, I don't want you
to stop being a woman, so don't ask me to
stop being a Man's a great line, and I'm not
saying being a man is being at the Masters. But
I think we need to remind ourselves that, you know,

(15:45):
no offense of your Frank who has a you know,
a truck router John that works at the doctor's office,
or Rich Davis who has a radio show, we are
not at the Masters. We are not scheduled to be,
you know, playing Game seven of the NBA Finals. I
think there's exception, and I usually do side on family
comes first, and I know Cavino a couple of years
ago it was good because We got some love about it,

(16:07):
but Cavino caught a little heat because he was, like,
remember getting on the case of Jeff McNeil in the
Mets because he took a little bit of a long
paternity leave. Yeah, yeah, but they twisted my words around.
The narrative was.

Speaker 2 (16:20):
The narrative was that I said he didn't have to
be there for the birth of his baby. And that's
not what I said. I said, you know, get back
as soon as you can, because the team and the player,
the fans want you to be back.

Speaker 1 (16:32):
I never said he shouldn't be there. If he could
be there, they want social media to quote you the
right way. Yeah, Lou, I mean that's not what I said. Well,
I'm just saying. My point was he had an obligation, yes,
to his wife and to his child, and he was there,
But he has an obligation to his teammates and to
the fans that pay to see him play. So I

(16:52):
was just saying he shouldn't be away for months at
a time. Listen, buddy, Lebron James said it straight up
and no one blinked. And I guess he's Lebron and
knowing those more than Lebron, that he puts it all
on the court. Remember Lebron said if I have a conflict,
then Bronni's got a big game. I'll be there, saying
I will skip a Lakers game if I need to

(17:14):
be there for my son prioritizing being a dad. And
when you're Lebron James, you could do that. I just
ask you the Fox Sports Radio Nation eight seven, seven
nine nine on Fox, when you open up the lines.

Speaker 2 (17:26):
Here, these are once in a lifetime moments.

Speaker 1 (17:30):
You know. I guess both ways Goffing and the masters
being in the lead as we speak, and also being
a first time dad, I could also see not only
not only does Scott Scheffer want to be there for
his wife and support and to be there for his
future child, he wants to be there because he wants
to be there right selfishly, I understand all of that,

(17:51):
But man, I think in this moment it goes back
to the Rocky Boboa quote. Actually, Rich, Yeah, I don't know.
If you just love being a woman, don't being a man?
Those done? Yeah, that's it. I mean, it's a magical
moment watching your first kid be born. I'd play the
audio for you, but all I just keep saying is
holy s over and over and over again, Holy Holy listen.

(18:14):
I was never on the leaderboard at the Masters, but
I will say this Kevino and I was say, I'm
letna give a little old school story, buddy boy. So
this is when Kevino and I were working at ESPN.
We were doing a late night TV show every night
on ESPN two. The year was twenty eighteen. Was it
twenty seventeen? Twenty seventeen? He do and they said, hey, guys,

(18:40):
we're signing you on to do this new show, but
we're doing all the demos, all the auditions for some
of your co hosts and other talent on the show.
On May seventeenth, we're flying everyone in. I'm like, okay, boss.
Then I turned to Kavin and I said, that's my
wife's do date. And He's like, well, what are we
gonna do. I was like, well, we're in the same city.

(19:03):
I looked at it like we got things to do. Date.
So I would say, my wife gave birth to our
daughter on May sixteenth. The next morning, I showed up
at the TV studio with the hospital bracelet on, did
the demos and auditions, went back to the hospital. You
gotta do what you gotta do as a provider, as

(19:24):
a man, as a woman. You don't want to miss
those family moments. I do wonder if it matters if
Scotti Scheffler was like twenty eighth on the leader board.
He's number one right now. Yeah, I do think that
matters it, or even if you're like.

Speaker 2 (19:46):
I would say, even if you were a long shot,
that makes a difference. Right, Like, he's in first place.
There's no way he could leave. I'm sorry.

Speaker 1 (19:56):
Let me ask you could be known and Danny g
and my future kid would under that was my question.
Do you think, let's say you, Steve Covina, if you
found out in the late seventies your dad passed on
something awesome because you were gonna be born, would you
ever be like, Wow, I wy'd you do that? Dad?
If his kid in the future finds out like, no, Dad,

(20:16):
you left the Masters because I was born, his kid
may be mad at him, and then his kid's a weenie.
What I mean, that's the truth. His kid might be
mad he left. Yeah, yeah, my dad, I know my
birth was important, but you left the Masters exactly. He's
doing it for the family, He's doing it for the
legacy for his children. It's not just a selfish move,
it's for everybody involved here. So I think it's also

(20:39):
selfless to miss that opportunity of the birth of your
child and go out there and try to win it
for your family. That's that's also a very selfless move.

Speaker 2 (20:50):
It's not like he doesn't want to be there, right,
But that's the pressure you feel, and that's maybe the
pressure a woman would put on you. And that's also
the fear of doing the right thing. For example, like
you know, women don't forget my ex, and maybe she's
my ex for this reason.

Speaker 1 (21:06):
But she loves to say I feel like lead.

Speaker 2 (21:09):
She drove herself to the hospital as a way, probably
to make me look bad, right.

Speaker 1 (21:15):
And that is true, But it was a scheduled C section.
I was with her, I was with she drove, but
I was with her in the car.

Speaker 6 (21:21):
Context matters, yeah, context, this is.

Speaker 1 (21:28):
So it is not the story.

Speaker 2 (21:29):
So my point in bringing that up is it was
always stown in my face. Just like if Scott Scheffler
ever steps out of line or thinks get bad, you
know what the wife's gonna say. So out of fear,
he wants to do the right thing, you aren't even there,
maybe even marry someone like your ex. Yeah, but people
love to bring up things like that when they can

(21:50):
as ammunition.

Speaker 4 (21:50):
If he leaves, it's because they've had a conversation and
she has said something, she has sayd something. You know
what I'm saying, like, I won't forgive you.

Speaker 2 (21:58):
MACI what would you expect Sean to dot?

Speaker 4 (22:04):
And it was game seven of the finals, I would
be like, sorry, bye, you're on your own. And I
would expect the same from him because I'm never gonna
be pregnant, so I go. But I would I would
not expect him to leave.

Speaker 1 (22:16):
This is huge, It's huge, Yeah, it really is. It's
an interesting big Yeah. I mean they're both important, very important. Both. Yes,
they're both important.

Speaker 5 (22:25):
But like I was just talking to James in Virginia,
who you guys will talk to in a few minutes.
It is such a magical moment when you're in that
room and you hear your kid cry for the first time.

Speaker 2 (22:35):
But that's why I'm saying, Danny g selfless for him
to even potentially miss that.

Speaker 1 (22:39):
Yeah, but it's also matter like he wants to miss that.
Put on that green jacket. That's magical.

Speaker 3 (22:45):
You know what.

Speaker 1 (22:45):
The phones are all lit. We're gonna take your feedback next. No, really,
it isn't a matter of what do you put first,
because family is always first. But if you have an
opportunity that is, this is different. You're right, this is
the life lottery. You won the life lottery. If you're
pitching Game seven, if you're in the Super Bowls, a
starting quarterback, if you're on the leaderboard number one at
the Masters, what you're going for the heavyweight title. I

(23:06):
feel like something we've seen in movies. Yeah, you know,
sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do. People
have missed these magical moments for a lot less than that.
Like you said, your dad was at the strip club
or wherever you so, hey, your feedback will take it next.
Give you on rich having a fun time on a
Friday right here on Fox Sports Radio. Now, whether you're

(23:27):
headed to campus to see some college hoops, college baseball,

Speaker 2 (24:45):
And that's why we have a brand new podcast called
over Promised. You see, we're having so much fun in

because this guy is over promising things we never have
time for.

Speaker 1 (24:57):

it's called over promise. You should be good at it
because you've been over promising women for years. Well, it's
a Covino and Rich after show, and we want you
to be a part of it. We're gonna be talking sports,
of course, but we're also going to talk life and relationships.

we didn't have enough time, it will continue on our
after show called over Promised. Well, if you don't get

(25:18):
enough Covino and Rich, make sure you check out over

(25:48):
I Was Sam.

Speaker 2 (25:50):
I Was Sam. He's got the dance moves broll. He's
ready for the weekend. Iowa, Sam, hope.

Speaker 1 (25:55):
You're ready for the week If not, you if you're
not ready for the week and we're gonna get you
ready for the weekend. With weekend, you start, you start
tapping into grandfather's coffee here ever ready you know it is?
I just got all excited about Friday.

Speaker 2 (26:07):
Cavino and Rich on Fox Sports Radio, Danny g on
the phones at eighty seven seven ninety nine on Fox.

Speaker 1 (26:11):
What kick are you on recently? You?

Speaker 8 (26:12):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (26:13):
Are you with Uncle Tito? Are you an old fashioned guy?
You not dip it into the edibles? What? What is
your deal like my drink of choice? Yeah? What are
you having a know? Cavino does, which was a mu
Khan jack. No, Covino does. That is a move I've
seen people do. I don't do. He takes a hard
Seltzer and adds a little bit of Tito's to it,
gives a little extra oh yeah, little extra pop. No

(26:34):
he listen, I don't think he invented that. I mean people,
I'm gonna say event invented it. You take credit for
inventing it.

Speaker 6 (26:40):
It's it's a good because it's the calories you're It's
like it's a good thing because the calories are already
kind of in the Seltzer and then you're just adding
a little tea.

Speaker 1 (26:47):
Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 2 (26:48):
And I also don't want to take credit for that
being the case right now. I think I just had
like a little mini baby stroke or something. Anyway, Fosser
Iowa Sam's dance was really flustered me speaking of babies. Yeah,
but we're going through the phones right now at eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox again, we're Covino and Rich
live fromati iraq dot com studios talking about Scott Scheffler again.

(27:11):
He's on the leaderboard the Masters, he's the master. Yeah,
it's either Bruce Lee Roy or Scott Scheffler right now
or showing up the showgun of Harlem who's the master.
It could be him, but his wife is prego. She's pregnant,
and he's saying he would leave doesn't matter where he

(27:31):
is on the leaderboard if she went into labor. So
it got us debating here on the show.

Speaker 1 (27:36):
Does it matter? Does it matter that he's already amassed
over fifty million dollars in earnings through the PGA. I
guess all of these things matter. They're all factors. But
you know what, you brought up a good point last segment,
and I'll reiterate. Covino said, there's been idiots that have
missed their kid's birth are way less way, Oh my

(27:58):
phone guard, I was in Vegas. I forgot where I
was here. You know it's it happens. Let's go to
your phone calls James in Virginia. Our point is family
comes first. But if you're on the leaderboard of the
Masters scheduled to pitch Game seven of the World Series,
you're in the super Bowl. I'd imagine there's a short
list of I get it right.

Speaker 9 (28:22):
I think you were taking my call gentlemen, Friday, Man, Sloth,
the Commanders, and look, I'm want to prevace it. I
love sports at my whole life surrounded by sports man.
But I'm gonna be real. I'm gonna git three points
real quick. My mom told me what I was expecting
my first child this earlier late last year. Just show
up for always be there for. Show up.

Speaker 10 (28:43):
Man.

Speaker 9 (28:44):
So that's one thing.

Speaker 11 (28:45):
Second thing.

Speaker 9 (28:46):
No one on their death that ever said man. I
wish I.

Speaker 11 (28:48):
Worked another day.

Speaker 9 (28:49):
Finally, man, the third thing and the most important thing
until you're in that room, man, and you experienced that.
It's the greatest experience of your life watching your child
be born. Man, there's not can't there's no words that
can explain it until you actually experience it. So yeah, man, man,
because there's always another tournament, but there's never another time
child was born. Man, have a great day, man on

(29:11):
your weekend.

Speaker 2 (29:13):
He made some really great points, really really great points.
But guess what, here's the flip side to that. Again,
it's selfless to want to miss such a beautiful moment,
to do something great for your family's legacy in their
future and to make his future kid proud.

Speaker 1 (29:33):
But you know, I feel like on both points.

Speaker 5 (29:39):
Do you feel like your wife might use that as
AMMO against you in any future?

Speaker 3 (29:43):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (29:44):
Yeah, you weren't even in the room.

Speaker 11 (29:46):
I was.

Speaker 4 (29:48):
You have to get me to sign a contract if
I can skip it.

Speaker 1 (29:51):
You can't bring this crap up again. You gotta be contract.
You're gonna this this one page one chick contract.

Speaker 4 (29:56):
Says I can't bring the present and you.

Speaker 1 (29:59):
Can't bring this cra but the extent of our marriage, simon.
But my point was you could still be the greatest
dad that ever was just because you missed his one moment,
doesn't ruin that for the rest of your life, you
know what I mean? Like, yeah, I know he wasn't there, Well,
what was he doing? He was at the Masters. It's

(30:20):
not like he was messing around with his buddy. He's
had a poker game. Listen, dude, there's nothing more satisfying, fulfilling.
It was a dad had a fantasy draft. Then imagine that, dad,
Why weren't you there? You don't understand what.

Speaker 4 (30:36):
If this fantasy draft was with Mike Trout.

Speaker 1 (30:39):
Yeah, Like, let me tell you. There's idiotic reasons people
miss important events prioritize family. I just think that there
are very few exceptions. And I think if you're number
one on the leaderboard at the Masters, that's one of those,
Like you know this exceptions for everything in life. There's
nothing absolute. Let's go to your phone calls, Glenn in
La your own con on Ritch. Hey Glenn, what somebuddy?

Speaker 11 (31:02):
Heybody except young guys, little show, great topic, ma, I'm
excited to give a perspective on this.

Speaker 1 (31:06):
Yeah, what you got so.

Speaker 11 (31:10):
James and Virginia, Man, that was a great call, great
great information. I mean, I agree with that guy, but
my situation was little different. I'm forty two, I have
one child, she's four and a half now, and my
only child. And I was kind of going through some
issues with Obama at first, and we were kind of separated,
and uh, she gomped me right before the birth and

(31:32):
by choy, by her choice, not mine. I wasn't able
to be there for the birth, you know, and that
tore me up. And I'm still having a hard time
dealing with it on a day to day basis, you know,
four or five years later.

Speaker 1 (31:42):
But it goes back to what I said.

Speaker 2 (31:43):
First of all, out of your control and that's unfortunate, right,
And man, you missed out on something great. But does
that mean you can't be the greatest dad? Don't be
yourself forward, don't put yourself up. You can't you the
man Jimmy in Texas? What's up, Jimmy?

Speaker 1 (31:59):
Thank you for the call? Man, what's up?

Speaker 8 (32:01):
Yo?

Speaker 3 (32:01):
What's up at my nose?

Speaker 10 (32:02):
And s.

Speaker 3 (32:06):
Hey so man? Honestly, yeah, I mean family is everything, right.
I mean I was there for all three of my kids. Uh,
and there's nothing more special than you know, they're wiping
them down, kids are crying and all this stuff, right,
there in the birthroom and to know that, you know,
I talk to my wife Belly all the time whenever
she was pregnant. For me to just be able to
say hey bye, hey mama, to say you know, it's okay,

(32:27):
it's okay, and they stop crying to listen for your
voice because they recognize it. Magical, dude, magical. So that
being said, the only way you can miss something like
that is if it is for the family, Like you know,
you have to do a logical decision over an emotional decision.
Is in this case, I think he's right because he's

(32:48):
already got he's already secured the bag, man, and love.
Love makes the world go around. But you got to
be able to feed the people on it. So if
you've got to secure a bag like I like this,
like millions of dollars, do what you gotta do. If
he's already got it in the bank and he's not
doing it except for just personal accolade, This personal accolade
of a child's birth will will trump any green jacket
anything else, then that's just my opinion.

Speaker 1 (33:10):
Trump uh Man, Jimmy, you know, it's a corny answer.

Speaker 2 (33:14):
It's a fun debate, right It is a fun debate,
and I gave you all my flip sides and thoughts
on it. Truthfully, I wouldn't judge the guy either way.
It's his decision. He's a man, it's his decision. I
really wouldn't be judgy of his decision in this case.

Speaker 1 (33:31):
And you know what else, you don't know the dynamic
of someone else's relationship for all you know, we don't
know Scotty Shuffler's wife. She could be the most easy
going person, like listen to these she could be listen
to these idiots having a conversation. I told Scotty stay
if he wants to, if he wants to. Notes were
based on my own projection, my own if I put
myself in his shoes, right if he can't see I

(33:54):
can't see you in golf shoes. I don't look that
good in golf shoes.

Speaker 2 (33:57):
But you know, if he decided to do this, and
that's his decision, I wouldn't be judging of it. I think, Hey,
he's a man, he's a grown man. Grown man can
make their own decisions.

Speaker 1 (34:06):
Here, all right, let's go to our pal MONSI for
an updatellome.

Speaker 4 (34:10):
On well fellas, Let's start at the Master, Scottie Scheffler
Bryson Deshambo in the lead seven under par. Second round
play still going for both of them. Max Homa is
done for the day and he is one shot back.
Tiger Woods finished plus one. The cut is currently plus four,
which becomes the only golfer in history to make twenty
four consecutive cuts at the Masters. In the NBA, Carl

(34:33):
Anthony Town's return to the Timberwolves lineup for the first
time since March fourth, as they take on the Hawks.
Minnesota and OKC are currently tied for second place in
the Western Conference. No Kyrie Irving for the MAVs tonight.
It's their final home season game of the regular season.
They're taking on the Pistons. Kyrie Irving is not playing
due to left hamstring soreness. Luca Doncish is questionable with

(34:53):
left ankle soreness. Now an update on Ipitt Misuhara. According
to Sam Bloom, who for the Athletic, he did not
enter a plea. In case you missed it, he did
surrender himself to authorities this morning. He was ding court
in Los Angeles. But this report from a guy from
the Athletic. Sam Bloom says that he did not enter
a plea. His arraignment hearing is scheduled for May ninth.

(35:16):
So that is the latest with Shoheo Tani's former interpreter
in college hoops Yukon seven foot two sophomore Donovan Klinging
is going to enter the twenty twenty four and be
a draft and last thing I'll tell you here. Clayton
Holloway of the NFL Network put a screenshot that Brandon
aiyuk is no longer following the forty nine ers.

Speaker 1 (35:36):
Don don dog he Bo did the same thing tactic
Manzi tactic. Thank you for the update. Can I ask
you one thing, so repeat after me. Okay, t wolves,
T wolves, T wolves. Okay. When she says wolves is
cute wolves, thank you.

Speaker 4 (35:54):
It. I also don't hear it.

Speaker 1 (35:56):

(37:07):
Thanks for all the feedback. He's on top of the
leader board at the Masters.

Speaker 1 (37:12):
As dice KLi would say, he's on top of the world.
On top of the world. Ma oh, lots of tight
white pants at the Masters. Man, if I had a pair,
I would have Warren him today, just because I'm Steve Cavino.
That is Rich, Davis, Iowa, Sam on the ones and twos,
Danny g on the phones at eighty seven seven ninety
nine on Fox, you know what. Feel free to chime

(37:33):
in at Covine on Rich. It really is a again,
there's there's no right or wrong answer, There's no like
argument here. It's a matter of what are the circumstances
in which you would miss the birth of your first child?
And could this be one? Ninety nine point nine percent
of the answers would be like, no, not worth it.
Of that point one percent leading on the Masters board

(37:55):
might be one of them. M hmm, yep. Thanks for
all the feedback. Like we said at COVID you know
and Rich phone calls eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox. Also,
there's a video up did we handle we the public
handle the death of O. J.

Speaker 2 (38:11):
Simpson the right way? Want your feedback there too. There's
a new video up at Covino.

Speaker 1 (38:15):
And Rich on his head. I'm reading the feedback already. Yeah,
there's some people that are like brutal, like half him.
I mean, I guess there's one person that times already
saying they're mad. I said alleged. I mean he was
innocent in the court, but I know we all believe
he did it. You know what the worst move too
was that book? That book he wrote that was Oh

(38:38):
didn't he write who moved my cheese? No? No, that
was a different one. Sorry, the Chinese probably.

Speaker 6 (38:45):
Some people were upset with you guys for either not
hammering him enough or it was like there's no there's
no right, right way to win.

Speaker 1 (38:52):
That was my point. My point was ground is unattainable.
My point yesterday, today and forever, I said, would be
every time a celebrity dies, there's a lot of fake
sympathy and who cares a right? But I love them.
They were my favorite artists. They were my favorite this
I love that athlete with OJ. It's weird because the

(39:12):
only other times we celebrated death is like a terrorist
or a murder, like a serial killer, like if Ted
Mundy or Osama bin Laden like very rarely is everyone
like yeah, they're dead. OJ was an odd case. The
Buffalo Bills, by the way Buffalo Bills did not even
address it. I'm not saying they should have, but he
was maybe the greatest player in that franchise's history.

Speaker 2 (39:35):
Yeah, the whole story is just tragic, it really is.
But your feedback, your feedback at Covino and Rich. We
discussed it obviously yesterday and that's on the podcast. If
you missed it, just search Covino and Rich.

Speaker 1 (39:50):
Even people that are I guess you would say bad people.
Allegedly people hate when I say that they still have
friends and family, and I I saw that before OJ died,
he had thirty to fifty people visit him and they
all had to sign an NDA, no phones, no cameras
because apparently he looked rough towards the end. I mean,

(40:12):
if you were friends with OJ, sounds like a jerk move,
But do you keep that friendship secret.

Speaker 6 (40:21):
It's going to ostracize other people if you tell people, yeah,
I support them.

Speaker 1 (40:24):
Just friends. There's people that you don't want to tell
your political beliefs around because you're yeah, they're gonna judge me.
You don't think there's people that are friends that were
friends with OJ. They're like, I'm just telling anyone if
fifty people visited underside, why some did if that was
their choice.

Speaker 6 (40:40):
They want to hover or they want to orbit around
a celebrity star even though he's tarnished.

Speaker 1 (40:45):
There are people like that. Yeah, man, the whole story
is awkward. So I was saying, there's people, there's people
that start romances with people in prison. Oh yeah, so
nothing shocks me. There's that who's that Gypsy Rose girl that.

Speaker 2 (40:57):
Came out, you know the woman that I with Samy'
stright letters too, Chipsy Rose Blanchard's single.

Speaker 1 (41:03):
Now, yeah, she already got divorced, Like what's going on?
I think she's dating somebody new already though. If you
can't get a date, stories like that myself MutS really
bother you. Yeah, somebody for everybody.

Speaker 2 (41:17):
Let's wrap it up with two last phone calls about
Scott Scheffler eight seven seven ninety nine on.

Speaker 1 (41:21):
Fox Ben in New Mexico. What's up, Benny? Hey Ben?

Speaker 8 (41:24):
Hey guys, great show. Uh. If I'm on death row,
my last meal is gonna be with Cavino and Rich
and then I'm gonna let I'm gonna go with the
smile on my face.

Speaker 1 (41:33):
What are we gonna we have? We have a pizza,
but you're on death row. I don't want to have
dinner with you. I don't know, maybe we can't. We'll
be secret friends like people with oj real quick.

Speaker 9 (41:43):
Real quick.

Speaker 8 (41:44):
I think you go with the life that got you there.
You stay at the Masters and you can memorialize the
birth of that little one. And is there any way
that the tape's gonna that kid's gonna look at that
tape and say, there's my dad talking about me and
this is running around, jumping into the water and everything
like that. Yeah, you go with the life they got
You give him.

Speaker 1 (42:04):
A little green jacket too, put him on FaceTime, little
green baby jacket. Matt in Illinois, real quick, what's up, Bud?

Speaker 10 (42:12):
Hey, guys appreciate it so uh. It's been touched on
once or twice. But I wanted to bring in the
focus and this mainly, I guess I would talking this
more towards MONI. If you were Cheffer's wife and he
has the option of being there for the birth or
missing out on that paycheck, win the thing. I know
my mom would have slapped my dad stupid if he

(42:33):
passed up on that paycheck.

Speaker 1 (42:35):
If you have a chance to win the Masters, that
the kid would understand the big Yeah, Dad, you did
the right thing. Right. We got more Covino Rich, a
lot of fun, one more hour fun, in fact, so
hang tight. Fox Sports Radio cn R
