Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, what's up at Stanny g Here is the best
of the best of this past week from Coveno and.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Rich All got a great thing going, man.

Speaker 1 (00:08):
Enjoy the NBA Playoffs in between watching all those games,
Enjoy this good long listen.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
Question is simple. If there's a cool rumor about you,
or someone thinks something you're doing is bigger than it
really is, do you correct them or let the legend grow.
Covino's got a story we'll explain. But two things that
were just.

Speaker 4 (00:31):
On my mind.

Speaker 3 (00:31):
I gotta get out number one. Awesome or lame?

Speaker 4 (00:37):
Lame?

Speaker 3 (00:38):
That Gronk throughout the first pitch at a Red Sox
game and he spiked the baseball, and he's like, Gronk,
is it funny because it's Gronk. That was great spiking
a baseball. I loved it. I thought it was good.
Roger Roger, that Roger Dodger number two. With all due
respect to the Yankees broadcaster that hung it up, John Sterling,

(01:03):
it is far, it is high, it is gone, Captain.

Speaker 5 (01:12):
Yank.

Speaker 4 (01:14):
I'm so glad you played that.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
I was saying because I feel as though you might
think who cares? But he retired like as of now,
right old Turkey. As you keep saying he didn't quit cigarettes,
he quit job. Could you still say cold Turkey voting
Dan Byer. He's the uptake guy. He's got the scoop. Now,

(01:35):
the last game the Yankees played the Yankees lose, does
he not only did they lose, they losen they lost
in I mean it's early in the season, but heartbreaking fashion.
It was a walk off win for the Guardians. I mean,
is a heartbreaking when it's like Game twelve, Wells were winning.
They should have won that. So my question is if

(01:55):
Sterling is ill and they said, hey, you can't do
this anymore, which seems like the case. Unfortunately eighty five
years old, do you patch him in one last time?
He has to give one final.

Speaker 4 (02:08):
The Yankees win. He can't go out on a Yankees loss.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
Like walking off the court when out hitting a three
point shot that you gotta make it before you leave.
I even taught my kids that recently, No what it was,
my daughter, we hit a major breakthrough. You never want
to leave on a down note. Ever, this is big
and anything breakthrough.

Speaker 4 (02:25):
My daughter.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
Is now making contact every at that in T ball,
so she doesn't need the tea anymore. She wants to
practice every day, and I'm like, well, that's a good thing.
I'll go out there with her. But I try to
teach her. I was like, buddy, you want your last
swing to be like a line drive. Then we go
in the house.

Speaker 4 (02:43):
You don't. You don't.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
End On will take that to absurd lengths of like
like my girlfriend, her last bite of any meal has
to be like the dope bite that she saved.

Speaker 4 (02:51):
Do you work for the bike?

Speaker 3 (02:52):
I don't do it. Yeah, She's like, I wanted that
to be my last bite. I ruined my last taste,
last hate a good last haye.

Speaker 4 (03:03):
So I agree.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
If you're shooting hoops, you need bottom of the net
swish three pointer before you saying something cool like if
I make this shot, she's gonna want me. You gotta
do something cool like that. So I just think that.
I know it sounds juvenile, and you might say, as
Dan Bayer said, the guy called hundreds of Yankees playoff games,
he's a legend Hall of Famer if not already, well,

(03:25):
I mean it's John sterling Ow. He's got to give
one more one final.

Speaker 4 (03:32):
The Yankees winning. I hate the Yankees. I'm a Mets fan.
He's got to do it. You can't.

Speaker 3 (03:37):
I mean, well, he's coming back for the announcement, like
the official announcement, So I know, I'm just I don't
agree with you. Actually I agree with you. I don't
want his last game. I don't think he wanted his
last game to be a sudden extra inning loss for
the Yankees. Yeah, he was a Yankees fan grown up.
It was a dream come true to be a broadcaster
for the team. So his signature call was the Yankees way.

(04:02):
He's got to end on that, planted. The most important
thing is the health of an eighty five year old man.
But if he is capable of pushing out one last
the Yankees win, let's just bring him in for that.
I even said you could patch him in from home
with the technology get We'll get you know, the thing
that we use when people broadcast other places, A little Kodak,
a little little uh, a little Comrax, a portable broadcasting device.

Speaker 4 (04:24):
I agree.

Speaker 3 (04:24):
I'm sure he has that in his house. Anyway, I agree,
I do.

Speaker 4 (04:27):
I do.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
And then for one last time, we'd pass it to
the legend and then he gives a little Yankees win.

Speaker 4 (04:34):
Come on, I.

Speaker 3 (04:35):
Think they got to part of his sign off. That's
it for the guy. He's been a lifelong broadcast. Well
back to the question at hand, do you correct the
cool rumor about you? Yeah, Cavi, he know's friends assume
you were at a big game. You weren't at your
friends assume we're broadcasters, right, So it's like, uh, listeners like, yeah, man,
you've interviewed Michael Jordan, right, And I'm like, no, sure,

(04:57):
but if you want to believe that I did, that's great.
I think a lot of the feedback I'm getting people
are assuming I'm the host of this new TV show
that premieres tonight.

Speaker 4 (05:07):
Yeah, can you know post it now?

Speaker 3 (05:08):
Posted a picture advertising, you know, a little promo for
a rock show on Access TV tonight.

Speaker 4 (05:15):
But the way the.

Speaker 3 (05:15):
Little promo looks, Kivino, it does look like you're the
host of the show. But dude, they took similar pictures
for all the other countries. But guess what, your listeners
and followers don't follow those other people.

Speaker 4 (05:24):
I know.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
So again it's like embarrassing because I might not even
be on tonight's episode. Like, it's embarrassing. So do you
correct people? Because then you look like a fraud, Like
I tuned in to watch you fraud a liar.

Speaker 4 (05:37):
I was Sam.

Speaker 3 (05:38):
If someone said, you know, I was Sam, that guy
used to hook up with all the hottest models, would
you correct him or.

Speaker 4 (05:45):
Be like, yeah, I did, let him believe the legend,
Like what do you I'd correct him because that's that's
just not believable at all. You know, maybe a bad
examples preposterous, but I think I believe it. I was No.
I think you doubled down though, Kavino. I think you
say I was the host. They cut me out because
I got fired for an HR violation. But for me,

(06:06):
the model thing, no way, no, I say no.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
Let me tell you I was Sam. This is a
true story. It's very uh, very appreciate that. Back in
the early back in the early back in the early
two thousands, Spot this is where you and I became pals.
We worked for iHeart New York and they used to
do you know how they do it around the country now,
jingle Ball. Back in the day, they used to do

(06:29):
a summer concert that was like a big thing, giant stadium.
It was called Zootopia. It was the equivalent of that
big compilation concert.

Speaker 4 (06:36):
It's like a big summer jam. Yeah, out here they
Mango tango? What did they do?

Speaker 3 (06:41):
The rock one was what functional Family Picnic? Yeah, one
of those cool radio stations. Yeah, compilation concerts. To the
left and the right of the stage at Giant Stadium,
we're two hot tubs and.

Speaker 4 (06:56):
They had put me in.

Speaker 3 (06:57):
Another guy in charge of getting some girls at wanted
do like some promotional models to be in the hot tubs. Now,
our pal who's still on iHeart Elvis Duran. You probably
know the name Elvis Duran, pop radio legend. He started
a rumor that I heard Rich Davis, but he didn't
start He actually believed it, right.

Speaker 4 (07:18):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (07:19):
He was telling everyone that, you know, those promotional models
underneath the water. You don't even want to know what
Rich Davis was doing. You know, he was sleeping with
he Rich was doing ungodly things with those apparently, you
know again on the stages. This is the early two thousands,
So I was like, look at this guy, what a stud.

Speaker 4 (07:38):
And I never really corrected anyone. It didn't happen.

Speaker 3 (07:42):
I wasn't hooking up with all these girls in a
hot tub on stage. But you know what, the legend grew.

Speaker 4 (07:47):
Why would I.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
Ever correct what would what is sort of like a
cool rumor. It's like, you know, if there's a rumor
going around town about you and you were packing, Like,
do you correct people if it's a cool rumor? Do
you correct people if it makes you look good? Question?

(08:09):
Rich based on his proof, this sort of made him
cool back then, and the legend.

Speaker 4 (08:14):
Grew not cool. It's just I think if there's something about.

Speaker 3 (08:17):
It, I think he could be exposed, and I say
it's best to be honest about it, like, yeah, well, no,
there's something flattering about you or something not accurate.

Speaker 4 (08:26):
But everyone's talking about it, you know what, Let him
think it.

Speaker 3 (08:29):
I don't think there's I don't think there's any reason
to correct people be like, well, I am a contributor
on the show, but I'm not the host.

Speaker 4 (08:36):
Let them think of the host. Who cares.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
Let's go to Florida, Brett, you are on with Covino
and Retrod's up, Bud, Hey Brett.

Speaker 6 (08:43):
What's up?

Speaker 4 (08:44):
Guys?

Speaker 6 (08:44):
My favorite time of the day.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
Appreciate So I just had to call in.

Speaker 6 (08:49):
I got a little short tidbit that I'll give you
about that. Yeah, so I am a triplet. I'm the
middle of a triplet and so like you know, we're
all in the in the high school at the same time,
and everything went to a big high school. That exact
thing used to happen to me all the time because
my brother and sister were friends with different people than
I was. And I'll tell you, guys, if it was

(09:11):
a good rumor like you were saying, I would just
let that thing ron Man.

Speaker 3 (09:14):
Yeah, you're a triple. That was That was me, That
was that was the Yeah, why not? Because you feel
like a phony?

Speaker 4 (09:20):
You really do. That's what it is like you.

Speaker 3 (09:22):
I don't look around, look around social media. Everyone's a phony.

Speaker 4 (09:25):
I guess.

Speaker 3 (09:25):
Yeah, you're right about that for sure. You know, Hey,
thank you buddy, super resced day. Hey supersed Detroit. What's
up for c Day?

Speaker 5 (09:32):
What's true?

Speaker 7 (09:33):
Man?

Speaker 5 (09:33):
How y'all doing?

Speaker 3 (09:34):
We'll come in. If there was a rumor about you
that wasn't true, but it made you look cool, would
you correct?

Speaker 4 (09:38):
People?

Speaker 5 (09:40):
Listen, I could care less. I want to get to
the to the other topics you guys were talking to less.
I don't care less, no.

Speaker 3 (09:46):
No, no, first all, First off, for it's I couldn't care less,
because if you could care less, then you would.

Speaker 5 (09:54):
I couldn't care less.

Speaker 3 (09:55):
No no, no, no, no no, I couldn't. I couldn't, could not.

Speaker 5 (09:59):
Well, come on, fellows, come on, man, come on, man,
come along, I.

Speaker 3 (10:03):
Do the let's go, let's hear it.

Speaker 5 (10:05):
God, no, no, I want to I want to roll
with the Western Amy. Now. But you're talking about the
NBA playoffs and the Lakers.

Speaker 3 (10:10):
Yeah, it's so undelayed. That's what I want to know.
All right, let's say, let's head Lakers.

Speaker 5 (10:17):
Yeah, missed the playoffs and the Lakers. So let's let's
let's first of all, let me say, United United States
of America, can you smell what super Side is cooking?

Speaker 7 (10:25):
Know?

Speaker 6 (10:26):
It's excitement, it's incredible, it's everything that you want to hear.

Speaker 3 (10:29):
Now, are you cooking? What the hell are you cooking?

Speaker 5 (10:32):
Man? I'm cooking excitement, superman abilities and all that. So
let's go to this. Let's go to these playoffs.

Speaker 8 (10:38):
Man.

Speaker 5 (10:39):
These people that's talking about, oh, this person or or
this team is going to be the fifth sixth seed
and he needs to do the play in Man, get
out of here with that crap. That is so weak,
it's lame, it's whack. It's with wik wat If you
are a real, real playoff person, and you're really like
putting money on these games, and you really like on
on top.

Speaker 7 (10:59):
Of us the up. Yeah, the people that are talking
about or the teams that are trying to not play
the first number one teams, you stay with them anyway
because they ain't going nowhere, so you can care less
about them when.

Speaker 3 (11:12):
You couldn't care less, couldn't, couldn't, couldn't.

Speaker 4 (11:18):
Yeah, we'll look it.

Speaker 5 (11:19):
Down to the nitty gritty. You want to play whoever
right away? Don't matter what seed, how seed, all that,
all that talk of, you know, the fifth seed succeeds.
It's whack.

Speaker 3 (11:30):
I'll get you before you go. Who wins the NBA?
Oh wait, who wins the NBA champions?

Speaker 4 (11:36):
There?

Speaker 5 (11:37):
Yeah, the Lakers need to bring back magic Johnsons. Please,
somebody get Jennie Bus on the line. Why haven't you
brung back mad?

Speaker 4 (11:45):
All right?

Speaker 3 (11:46):
He's doing his own show reside super receed a show.

Speaker 4 (11:51):
Ron in Washington. What's up right?

Speaker 3 (11:53):
Hey?

Speaker 7 (11:53):
Ron?

Speaker 3 (11:54):
What's up buddy?

Speaker 9 (11:55):
It's Ron for Missouri And the thing is about the
whole actual stuff. There's this movie out there from John
Wayne Is called The Many Shawn Liberty Balance, and in
the movie they say, when the legend becomes sack printed legend.

Speaker 3 (12:10):
Yep, yeah, that's true. And you know there's that. There's
a docu series HBO a long time ago, but HBO Max.
I'm sure it lives on there somewhere. You could find it.
Robert Woll who's a comedian and actor. He's from my hometown, Union,
New Jersey. He did a show that went under the radar,
so I don't expect you to know it, but it
was what was it called History went On?

Speaker 4 (12:32):
History went on?

Speaker 3 (12:33):
And he went over all the cool moments in US
history that weren't necessarily how we were taught them. But
a lot of times the legend is cooler than the
real story of Paul Revere. It wasn't Paul Revere, some
dude with a weak name. And Paul Revere was also
sort of in the mix. So they're like, well, there
was some guys like the Brinage of comment, the Brintage
of comment.

Speaker 4 (12:52):
And Paul Rio is like, yeah, they are, yeah, And
so it became like in Paul Revere and it.

Speaker 3 (12:58):
Was never fact, but the legend becomes fact you print
the legend. It was like Paul Revere or like you know,
Humperdink Dinkleberry and they're like, yeah, yeah, Stupovia just sounds cooler.
So when the legend becomes fact print, the legends stick
with it. Do you correct the cool rumor about you? Uh,
think about it, and then hit us up at Covino

(13:20):
and Rich that said, check me out. I'm hosting a
new show tonight APM Eastern on Access TV. You know
what's funny is that, uh, we're all guilty of it.
So anyone that says, oh, you got to be honest,
you're all full of horse maneuver because every dumb story
you have with your old college frat bros. Or high
school buddy so embellished at this stage of the game.

(13:42):
At this stage of the game, what might have been
a funny little story you have enhanced over the last
ten twenty thirty forty years that some of your stories,
if you really dissected them, you'd be like, yeah, we're
now repeating a pretty fictional story. Yeah, I mean, like
they're so embellished. It is like every guy I talked
to could have went pro, like.

Speaker 4 (14:02):
Really could have went pro?

Speaker 3 (14:04):
Sure about that? Are you sure about that? But you know,
these rumors just roll with you. Every everyone's full of it.
So my point is just to wrap it up. If
there's a cool rumor about you, roll with it. Who
cares because everyone's full of it. Think of how many
times your buddy has told you a story. And not
to sound crude, but how many times has your buddy
been like your dude, I slept with this girl? She

(14:25):
was she was dynamite, And I'm like, I don't want
to see the girl because I'd be disappointed. I darret
to like when you have a when you're beer belly
out of shape, like not so handsome buddy is telling
you about this hot chick he got with. I always
just go along with the story because the reality is,
do you think she was that if she got with
your gross buddy? All right, let's get into it some

(14:49):
Tyson trivia on a Monday.

Speaker 4 (14:51):
How about that.

Speaker 10 (14:54):
Mike Tyson was a maniac.

Speaker 4 (14:56):
I want your heart. I want to eat a children, but.

Speaker 10 (14:58):
An ear to this. If you're a boxing, brainy, act
tired Mike Trivia, you can't.

Speaker 4 (15:04):
Tell me you're not man enough.

Speaker 1 (15:07):
All right, A very surly Mike Tyson. I ran into
him in our blue kitchen. He looked like he was
in a bad mood.

Speaker 4 (15:14):
I am.

Speaker 3 (15:14):
I'm very irritable, very very I want to figure that,
but I'm not supposed to have any right now because
i'm training.

Speaker 1 (15:21):
Yeah, we talked about this on the show last week. Mike,
you say no smoke while you're training, No more smoke.

Speaker 3 (15:26):
But I'm gonna smoke Jake Paul on July twentieth. But yeah,
no smoke. I'm just trying to enhance my extreme lung capacity,
extreme lung capacity. And I just feel like you're the
more irritated and irritable. I am more agitated, the more
floishit that could be in the ring. You know what
I worry about. Not in a very good mood. But hey, Iowa, Sam,
I don't I don't want to talk about I don't

(15:48):
want to I don't want to talk about you Iron
Mike when you're five feet from me. But if you
guys notice that Jake Paul was starting to step up
the trash talk and Mike, I hope he doesn't. Actually,
I hope you don't want to wake the bee. I
feel like he's gonna wake the better. He better relax,
you get ready because I'm feeling I'm feeling agitated. But
I need extreme long capathy.

Speaker 4 (16:07):
You know what? Uh? You know what Jake Paul said
about you, Mike?

Speaker 3 (16:10):
What do you think He said, he can't bite my
ear off if I knock his teeth out?

Speaker 4 (16:16):
O shots fired? Jake Paul's talking like that.

Speaker 3 (16:19):
Well, it's like some great man said, everybody had the
plan that that you punched your feet?

Speaker 4 (16:23):
Is that you all right? I think that all right?

Speaker 1 (16:26):
Let's meet the contestants his trivia wind total on the
show twenty one, twenty one time winning Rich Davis, sixteen
time champ Dan Byer, Hey, hey, seven time winner Spotty Boy, Hey,
let's do this, and looking to win and seeing our
stainless steel Swiggy on our studio lines. Morris in Alabama?

Speaker 10 (16:45):
What's up?

Speaker 4 (16:45):
Morris?

Speaker 11 (16:47):
Hey?

Speaker 5 (16:48):
God, I've read it, man, I've read it all right.

Speaker 1 (16:50):
What you do there for a living in Birmingham?

Speaker 5 (16:54):
O the time?

Speaker 8 (16:56):
Guy?

Speaker 4 (16:57):
Oh? What do you say? He plays the packages all day?
You worked for years.

Speaker 3 (17:05):
I wonder if he'd delivered with my mic bite. I'm
not over state lines by.

Speaker 1 (17:10):
Here are the rules for Iron Mike Trivia. The first
contestant with two correct answers is the champ. If there's
a tie, we have a tie breaker question. Your name
is your buzzer, but you do have to wait until
all three possible answers are read. If there's two wrong
answers in a row, we move on to the next question.
Are you ready, Let's go, Let's get it out all right?

Speaker 3 (17:27):
Round one? How did the thriller Manila between the Great
Muhammad Ali and Joe Fraser in were the a Ali
won by KO in the tenth round, b Ali by
TKO on the twelfth round, or the Fraser's corner threw
in the towel after the fourteenth round.

Speaker 4 (17:45):
I think Morris tried to try. Morris, what you got?
You got? Wait for all three, but we'll take you first.
Excuse speak up for user, Yeah, yeah, yeah, what Fraser
jo is the outcome of the fight?

Speaker 5 (18:00):
Pradier will put it okay.

Speaker 4 (18:03):
I'll repeat your question.

Speaker 3 (18:07):
And by the way, it's very aggravating because I stopped smoking.
How did the thriller Manila between the Great Muhammad Ali
and Fraser and whether a Ali won the KO in
the tenth round, b Ali won by t k O
on the twelfth or c Joe Fraser corner throw in
the towel after the fourteenth round.

Speaker 4 (18:29):
A B or C Morris.

Speaker 3 (18:35):
It was like a like a sad.

Speaker 4 (18:43):
B Morris one.

Speaker 3 (18:46):
How about this Morris one?

Speaker 4 (18:47):
Two or three?

Speaker 3 (18:51):
No, I came all the way here now I want
to fire for.

Speaker 4 (18:58):
The steal a ampersand a turtle.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
I don't even remember what the options were. So Ali
won by a ko or Fraser's corner, throw in the towel, uh.

Speaker 12 (19:14):
Fraser's yeah, through the town.

Speaker 1 (19:19):
After the fourteenth they stopped Fraser's corner, stopped the fighting.

Speaker 4 (19:24):
In the towel. On this game, I was like, qushed
it out. I don't think that question counts or anything off.

Speaker 12 (19:30):
Because Morris said Fraser wins, and I'm like, okay, where's
the option where Fraser wins?

Speaker 3 (19:35):
And there were none of them?

Speaker 4 (19:39):
All right, right here we go. We move on to
round two.

Speaker 3 (19:43):
And by the way, you guys laughing at me with me,
very definitely very aggravating right now.

Speaker 4 (19:48):
That sound effect comes from it.

Speaker 3 (19:50):
When when if the very green rookie Jake Paul could
beat me who said that they were worried about my legacy,
whether a de la joya Dana White or see Mini
Pakiah rich Rich.

Speaker 4 (20:04):
I think Oscar deale Hoya said that it was Oscar.

Speaker 1 (20:07):
Yeah, rich and buyer both on the board.

Speaker 3 (20:11):
Oh, no, need to worry. I stopped smoking so extreme
I need extreme lung capacity for.

Speaker 4 (20:17):
Yeah, you mentioned that. Move on to round three.

Speaker 3 (20:20):
Round three. What did I want famously say about not
wanting to box anymore?

Speaker 4 (20:25):
Whether it A.

Speaker 3 (20:26):
The fight game has been overrun by corporate thugs and
I'm a street thug. Quitting time is soon. B. I'm
fighting just to pay the bills. I feel bad. I
wish people could get their money back or see. I
need the money, but I need the leftover brain cells more.
What did I famously say?

Speaker 4 (20:44):
I know the answer to this. I was giving someone
an opportunity. Rich one rich to B two B is correct.

Speaker 3 (20:53):
I'm fighting just to pay the bill. I feel bad.
I wish people could get their money back. That's what
I love the fighting guys. Rich you're a wonderful man
and a great champion. Hey, Mike, I'm rooting for it.
Not so much, Marth. You really aggravated me today. Marshare good, dude.
We appreciate yours.

Speaker 4 (21:10):
Thank you delivered. Want too many packages.

Speaker 3 (21:14):
Mike, by the way, tuning in July twentieth, Mike, when
I annihilate Jake Paul Mike, good luck with you, e
LC thank you. What that means long capacity extream extreme
capacity by extreme Monk. All right, guys, Hey, it's great
to you guys on a Monday.

Speaker 4 (21:29):
Bye.

Speaker 3 (21:30):
All right guy, they I pay your tactics.

Speaker 10 (21:31):
Guys.

Speaker 3 (21:32):
Yeah, good luck, bye bye with them, bye.

Speaker 4 (21:35):
Goy see you goodbye. All right.

Speaker 3 (21:37):
Now, Hey, before you get to Iron, Mike was like
agitated today, Bro, you know what, because he's quit. Yeah
he's Yeah, it's aggravating, but you know what, that'll get
him angry for the fight. You need that angry agitated
Mike Tyson to step in the ring with Jake Paul,
especially if Jake Paul's talking trans Yeah, you know what.
The I'm so torn on this and I don't want
to harp on it long. We'll get the DB's update

(21:59):
and have another Mike take. Didn't even shake my hand.
On another deep thought, there's a part of me that
when I talk to some of my random buddies, like
I was at softball all the weekend and I was
talking a bunch of.

Speaker 4 (22:08):
The guys like yeah, we got to have a party,
get together.

Speaker 3 (22:11):
Some of them are in that mindset, like Kavina, I
said a lot of people are, which is it's fixed,
it's this, it was not a real fun.

Speaker 4 (22:17):
Blah blah blah.

Speaker 3 (22:18):
And I just think to myself, am I just playing
into it because I'm under the feeling of if if
Jake Paul talks enough, maybe you could wake up something
within Mike. Because we've met Mike a handful of times,
not name drop him, but he's become more subdued and
chill over the years. Didn't you sparrow him back in

(22:39):
the day. I did not about that, but I do know,
I do know. Oh you know what, Yeah, I'll keep
that roomor yeah yeah Rich did, Yeah, yeah, I know.
I really do feel like when you got someone like Mike,
if you did say the wrong thing, what if you
did wake something up? As they said in Rocky Balboa,
Yeah they got something in the basement. What if?

Speaker 4 (22:59):
What if?

Speaker 3 (22:59):
I what if he went real low and Mike's now
're not playing It's like the story of Lambert the
sheepish Lion.

Speaker 4 (23:05):
Look it up. I just I still think there's something
to be seen about that.

Speaker 3 (23:09):
He lived like he lived like a sheep, and then
one day he realized he was a lion, and he
had the heart of a lion.

Speaker 4 (23:18):
I really hope Myke woos as. I really hope Mike.

Speaker 12 (23:21):
Is it true the incentives? I saw this on TikTok,
so it's fifty to fifty really true. But is it
true that there are incentives for Tyson for the fight
to go on longer?

Speaker 4 (23:31):
It is something that I.

Speaker 12 (23:33):
I don't know, it's something to why not just throw
it out on national radio and not any background or
but I saw something and I was like.

Speaker 3 (23:41):
Well, head fear rules and a lot of that has
been fake along the way.

Speaker 4 (23:48):
Yeah, no, Daniel, you're not.

Speaker 3 (23:49):
You're not wrong, because I mean half the things you
see on social media are fake, even if they look
like they're legit, Like.

Speaker 4 (23:54):
In the beginning.

Speaker 3 (23:55):
In the beginning, there was such a rumor that they
were in headgear that Jake Paul had to come out
and be like, yo, the rumors are overwhelming that there's.

Speaker 4 (24:01):
Gonna be headgear. No head gear.

Speaker 3 (24:03):
So, I mean, anything you see on TikTok, you're right,
it's a fifty to fifty shot. Two things have happened
on this day, April fifteenth, besides it being tax Day.
In nineteen twelve, one hundred and twelve years ago, Titanic
sunk in an iceberg.

Speaker 4 (24:20):
It's all she wrote.

Speaker 3 (24:22):
And I would argue that something else that happened on
this day it was more more, was more impactful to
your life on this day in nineteen ninety it was
the debut of in Living Color. And I think while
the well was one was one hundred years before anyone.

Speaker 4 (24:42):
You know one was.

Speaker 3 (24:45):
I was always one of those two things linked one
gave us Jim Carrey, j Low, the Wayans Brothers, and
some great sketch comedy Hobody don't play that two thousand?

Speaker 4 (24:55):
So how many people twelve hundred? What was it?

Speaker 2 (24:57):
Like?

Speaker 3 (24:57):
I said, I care.

Speaker 4 (24:58):
I think the more impactful thing in Living Color?

Speaker 1 (25:01):
Wow, had fire Marshall Bill lived back when the Titanic song,
he would have saved.

Speaker 3 (25:07):
Saved the day four ninety six perish in the ocean
that day. You know who would have got to the
bottom of it. The head detective. But Jim Carrey, the
head you know what, the head detective, You're right, more
impactful in my life than do you remember the head
detective with David Allen Green?

Speaker 4 (25:23):
Yeah, he was just the head with the.

Speaker 3 (25:24):
Feet hold on the most. Have you if I asked
you what meant I gave this U two thumbs down
and two snaps, So you know why, because it was
more impactful to you than the title.

Speaker 4 (25:36):
The Titanic was a great movie in nineteen.

Speaker 3 (25:39):
We all agree they both could have fit on the door, right,
I want to hit you over the head with a sock,
or was huge like Homie the Clown because.

Speaker 4 (25:45):
Would it stay afloat?

Speaker 3 (25:46):
Though, even even though color was more impactful to a
lot of people of our generation, to everyone, the story
of the Titanic was always captivating and always intriguing when
he learned about it in school, still is till this day.
If a documentary is on about that, I've probably seen it.
I'll watch it again because I find it to be

(26:06):
that interesting. What's more, what's more pactful to your life that?

Speaker 4 (26:10):
That's nonsense? The Titanic, The Titanic. No, I love.

Speaker 3 (26:16):
The Wayne's Brothers, you know, I love Tommy Davidson.

Speaker 4 (26:20):
Remember the Homeboy Shopping Network? I remember all that stuff,
you know.

Speaker 3 (26:24):
I don't know why we.

Speaker 4 (26:26):
Remember all that stuff any because it was what's the
word I'm looking for? Impactful?

Speaker 3 (26:29):
Jamie Fox, Jamie Fox, Wanda and you tell me the
The the Fly Girls, Jennifer Lopez, her debut.

Speaker 4 (26:39):
Let me tell you something now, Rosie present sul Train
was more impactful.

Speaker 3 (26:44):
Titanic, while the while, you know, a ship that can
never be sunk, sinking and being a.

Speaker 4 (26:52):
You know, how are you connects?

Speaker 3 (26:54):
This happened on this day?

Speaker 4 (26:57):
No, I mean, like how like? But what I'm saying,
from one to the other happened on in April fifteenth.

Speaker 7 (27:02):
Right.

Speaker 3 (27:03):
The journey from one to the other that you're making
right now is bigger than the journey of the Titanic.
You ask clowns, let me explain every day and it's
crashing every day, sinking just before the every day. As
part of my research, besides looking up all the sports
headlines and doing all deep digging into football of the

(27:23):
NBA or this and that, I look at all the
smut websites at the tmzs and the all and I
check out a website I know Danny checks out the
same one on this day dot Com, and I just
go back and they start like in the fifteen hundred,
So I'm like scrolling through, like what happened on this
day and they have categories music, sports, entertainment, news, and
on this day, April fifteenth, other than being tax day,

(27:43):
The two headlines that stuck out to me were obviously
the Titanic sunk and Oh Yeah in nineteen ninety in
Living Color debut, And it dawned on me that while
The Titanic ended up being a billion dollar movie, Celene
Dion a major world event, what has had more impact
on my life? Your life, your life, anyone that's alive
in the nineties. Jim Carrey as Vanella Ice was pretty impactful.

(28:06):
That was pretty great.

Speaker 4 (28:07):
Tomorrow we discussed the Hindenburg and the debut of Growing Pains.

Speaker 3 (28:12):
You ever see Jim Carrey as Hindenburg and the Mic
Siver Waterbed episodes on tomorrow show both equally disastrous try
to plug it with chewing guns more impactful, look one
significantly more historical. One that gave us what do you mean?

(28:34):
What does that mean? Once in the history books? One
is not. But I'm asking you for you personally. If
I told you Steve Cano, take away one of those
things I love didn't live in Color. But I also
like the Titanic. I was always intrigued by that story.
If I told you take away the movie and documentary
book A Night to Remember, is that the name of
it was unsingable, Molly Brown. I didn't read anything growing up,

(28:55):
but I read that book, and I was always intrigued
by that. If I told you take away, take away,
the movie, take away, the soundtrack, take away, the documentaries,
because that event never happened, your life would be no
different if you took away in Living Color, you'd have
no Wayans No Jamie Fox, no Jim Carrey, no j Low.
I think it's so fair to say that in Living

(29:17):
Color left way more of a mark on anyone's life.
That's twenty thirty, forty fifty years old, opposed to the Titanic,
which sunk one hundred and twenty years ago.

Speaker 4 (29:25):
Almost that's old news.

Speaker 3 (29:27):
That you might as well tell me what are you
gonna tell me now? Just because in Battling Gettysburg is
you know, yeah, because it was more impactful, more lives
were taken, more historical turns as a result. And although
that was a very popular show, I think it had,
it still holds more weight, more water Titanic pals in comparison, Oh,

(29:51):
we don't play that. If your dad still had the
energy to have a catch with you feel the dream
style after a long day of work, Props to him.
Tip your hat to your dad. If he didn't, he
didn't love you and he was a jerk. I don't
think of how many times your dad or your mom
dropped you with practice or brought you to practice. Yeah,

(30:13):
these things you realize as you get older, like not
always easy. Like you always say you're a chauffeur to
your teenage daughter. Yeah, it sucks, but not gonna lie
to embrace it and love it. But I gotta do
it while I can as part of the job.

Speaker 4 (30:24):
Part of the job.

Speaker 3 (30:25):
Especially by the way, if your dad or mom got
down on their knees or in a crouch position to
catch for you when you were practicing pitching, you think
your dad wanted to be You know, at thirty forty
fifty years old, you think your dad wanted to be
in a crouch catcher position.

Speaker 4 (30:40):
But he did it. Why because he loved.

Speaker 3 (30:43):
Because he loves you. Do you play catch or do
you have a catch? I'm an East Cluster, I have
a catch. Playing catch sounds like something two year olds do.

Speaker 4 (30:48):
I agree with you. Let's have a catch. Yeah, let's
have a catch.

Speaker 3 (30:50):
Have a catch. When someone says let's play catch, I'm like,
all right, four year old I gave my analogy before.
I'm not comparing pets to kids. Okay, I'm not that guy.
I'll never be that. I'm a dad of a of
a pain in the ass daughter, and I have a dog.
But the analogy is this. When you come home from
work and your dog he's all excited to see you,

(31:11):
and he brings a toy to you out of excitement,
you gotta try to snag it from him, tug it
a little bit, and throw it across the room because
he waited all day. He waited all day for that
moment for you to walk by that dog and not
acknowledge him, not give him a little pet on the head,
and grab that toy that he was holding there for you.
That's a travesty. You're selfish, You're an a hole. So

(31:34):
when you're a kid, forget about doggie, forget about wooffles.
When your kid comes up to you after work and
you're like, dad, you want to have a catch?

Speaker 4 (31:45):
Man?

Speaker 3 (31:46):
What kind of guy are you if you're like, no,
I'm too busy. Have you ever seen that viral video
where it's a kid looking in the mirror practicing.

Speaker 4 (31:56):
Like dad, Quiva catch yeah, quieva Ketchuck.

Speaker 3 (31:59):
He's nervous to ask his dad, and then he goes
to his dad's room and his dad's looking in the
mirror saying, sorry, son, sorry, so sorry. He's practicing rejecting.
I've seen this. I will hate enough of that. Let's
get into the show. I just wanted to point it
out because can I make a random observation.

Speaker 4 (32:14):
I just listen. We talked about sports a lot.

Speaker 3 (32:17):
It's Fox Sports Radio, but there's a lot of unsung
moms and dads are trying to take credit for being
some sort of hero. No, I'm just being a dad
man like everyone else. I have a friend who is
traveling around to his kid's soccer. We'll say, I don't
think you get extra credit for being a dad, dude.
I did not one time asked for a Barry Horwitz
pat on the back. What I'm doing is I'm giving
props to all the other parents. Good dads do, of course.

(32:39):
But I'm saying I got friends and low places and
high places. I got friends that every week they're traveling
for their kids soccer.

Speaker 4 (32:47):
I have a buddy who took his kid to like
Wayne Gretzky's hockey camp. I'm like where'd you go? He's
like Seattle. I like Washington.

Speaker 3 (32:53):
You're from New York. As for my kid, dude, parents
would do anything for their kid. And I was talking
to a couple of guys in the newsroom earlier about
how when we were kids, it just seems so much
more simplistic. And I don't want to sound like the
old guy. I'm only forty ish, right, But when we
were kids, I always joke about how you went to
the school in your town and you played seasonal sports.

(33:15):
That's it now. If your kid like soccer, it's like
a calendar, full year thing. If your kids into baseball,
travel baseball see social media, and it has to be
real because it's on social media. But I hear so
many people complaining about it that travel sports are tearing
families apart because it's making them broke and they're just
spending all their weekends just all over the place. Like

(33:36):
chances are if you have multiple kids, they're playing at
different times, different places, So you got mom at one place,
dad at the other, and you're just stressing out on
these things, and they're not necessarily bringing people closer. It's
just making things more stressful for families. You think you're
always doing the right thing. But I did see an
article about how overdoing it with sports as a thing,

(34:00):
Like if you think all three of your kids need
to be in three different travel leagues and summer leagues
and all this, maybe they don't like previous generations were
fine doing it the way they did.

Speaker 4 (34:14):
Don't You don't. You don't need w kid play soccer
twelve months of the.

Speaker 3 (34:17):
Year, so I don't want your kid to get left
behind when all the other kids are in all these
extra camps and everything else. Danny Gy, you your step
kids are good ball players, right, like your son is
a good ballplayer.

Speaker 4 (34:26):
Yeah. Did you did your wifey ever get involved in
all these travel leagues? She did.

Speaker 1 (34:32):
Our middle son really really good shortstop and second basement,
and he traveled for baseball, so she was heavily involved
in that whole lifestyle. And you're right, it's expensive, time consuming,
and you really got to invest into it to do
it the right way.

Speaker 3 (34:48):
God takes a lot out of here, a lot, sure,
so is on that lifestyle right now where every day
it's a softball practice. We had to cancel at dinner
today because Rich has kids softball. We had a like
a business, dinner with a with a pal, which is
like I can't girls softball. So it really starts to
take up a lot of your time in your life,

(35:08):
but rewarding at the same time because your kids will
never forget it.

Speaker 4 (35:12):
They're your kids.

Speaker 3 (35:13):
It's important. So anyway, be a good dad. And before
we get into the meat, I have another observation. Someone
hit me up. They said, Covino and.

Speaker 4 (35:21):
Rich, you could get into the meat. I'll sit right here.

Speaker 3 (35:23):
Cavino and Rich, your show leaps and bounds the greatest,
and I said, thanks so much, said that your mom.
I don't know I made that part up, but he
did say, hey, I love your show, but you got
to drop the let's go. And I'm like, you're right,
but really, when did that become the rally cry for
this generation? We got to stop with that, and I
try so hard, but it's something that we said that

(35:45):
younger people feel they invented. It's like we always said, let's.

Speaker 4 (35:49):
Go, let's go Yankees, let's go.

Speaker 3 (35:52):
Different, let's go. The kids the middle of it, they
put that let's f and go go, so everything became
a let's go. And I want to know how younger
people took ownership of something that always existed, and it
became their rally cry, and do we have to stop
with it already? They get out of here the whole
like let's go Dodgers.

Speaker 4 (36:12):
That's not the same. This is a let's go. You
didn't say let's go, let's get them. Let's go, said
get them.

Speaker 3 (36:18):
You played sports, you said let's go. And now they
take ownership of it as if they invented it. And
if you say it, it's now you're saying something that
young people say. It's like the word clout. It's like, hey,
the word cloud existed. You guys did not invent that.
It's not slang. That's a word, you know. And just like.

Speaker 4 (36:35):
Let's go existed, let's go, But.

Speaker 3 (36:38):
Now it's a rally cry to someone said, hey, keep
doing your show, keep kicking ass, but drop that nonsense.

Speaker 4 (36:45):
Signed Covino's daughters.

Speaker 3 (36:47):
Yeah, dadd god, yeah, week that's so mad. Anyway, I'll
do my best to uh let it go, and I'll
leave it to the ween eels. Now, have some questions
I want to pose to you. There's a viral clip
today and I don't expect you to care about fighting
or boxing, but I'm gonna do my best to get

(37:08):
you excited for it. Ryan Garcia, Devin Haney, they have
a stare down today. They're doing press all week The
fight is this weekend. And Rich, I don't know if
you've seen it yet, but it just happened today. They're
on top of the Empire State Building. They're talking trash
the fights in Brooklyn this weekend. And weren't they dancing

(37:29):
and kissed each other? Oh no, I'm sorry, that was
Bieber and Jaden Smith my bed, Sorry that was not Garcia.
No different viral clip.

Speaker 10 (37:39):
One.

Speaker 3 (37:39):
Yeah, and Hani Man takes Garcia by the face and look,
this happens a lot and fights. It's good promotion, but
I really think they've had enough of each other. They've
been going at it since they were little kids. Takes
them by the face and basically throws them across the
Empire State Building from one side of the roof to
the They like mushed them. Yeah, push someone's fail like

(38:00):
a must you want to say, it's right on my
ig story at Steve Covino, at Steve Covino, it's right there.
The fights this weekend. Now, I have like a two
part doozy based on this fight. That I'm gonna ask
you about. Okay, So here you go. You can see
them fighting going at it. That was a shove. He's
it right, so he did stare down viral. First things First,

(38:25):
I want to say that one of my pet peeves
is when people bring things up but they have no opinion.
They're just asking you your opinion. It's like, well, what
good are you? You hate when I do that to you? Hey,
well I do. I wasn't even talking about you. There's
other like fight commentators and they're like, all right, the

(38:45):
fights this weekend, it's getting heated.

Speaker 4 (38:49):
Who you got?

Speaker 3 (38:50):
Let me know? That does nothing for me as a
fight fan. What am I getting out of you? What
are you doing reminding me that it's this weekend?

Speaker 4 (38:59):
That's it?

Speaker 3 (39:00):
You know that it's one thing to promote it, but
how about you tell me what you think if you're
the expert. That's a pet peeve of mine, and now
you'll notice it. I just broke the glass on so
many things that you see.

Speaker 4 (39:12):
Wrong about social media.

Speaker 3 (39:13):
People are providing content, but they're not giving you anything.
What they're saying is what do you think? And as
a fan or consumer, I'm trying to say, well, dude,
it's not about what I think. I'm coming here to
see what you think. They're trying to stimulate engagement. I
see what they're doing. BS, you're not giving me anything.
What did you give me? Hey, here's the fight this weekend.

(39:34):
What do you think? Who do you got? What does
that give me? So I'm gonna tell you Fox Sports
Radio reasons. The care These two have been fighting since
they were little kids. They're both three and three in
the amateurs. This is their first professional fight at one
point a heated division junior welterweights. And I think Ryan
Garcia is the naturally gifted fighter, killer speed, great path,

(40:00):
our super gifted and talented fighter. What we're going to
see this weekend is a classic example of someone's hard work,
discipline and next level work ethic overcome natural talent. And
I think Devin Haney has that discipline and that work
ethic that puts them over Ryan Garcia. Now I'm rooting

(40:21):
for Ryan Garcia. Some people say he lost his mind,
whatever the case may be. So I'm rooting for Ryan.
But Devin Haney's discipline and work ethic has really shined
him in a different light for me, and I think
that puts him over the edge. Hard work beats raw talent.
That's what we're going to see. So I'm giving you
a little something there now. This weekend is the fight.

(40:44):
I've waited months for this fight, years, you could say,
because I've always wondered who has the edge at one forty.
There's so many big names in that division. My question
to you Fox Sports Radio Nation is this I'm going
to is it my girlfriend's family for her birthday this
weekend in Idaho? Is it rude and asking too much

(41:08):
if they sort of revolve my one real night there
Saturday night, around my little fight night party?

Speaker 4 (41:16):
Is that rude?

Speaker 3 (41:17):
And my question is what is it for you that
you anticipate the most in the world of sports, Because
there's two things. For me, fights like this. When the
date is set, I look forward to that date the
same way you look forward to a vacation, almost like oh,
May fourth, Canelo Mungia. That's like saying, man, we're going

(41:37):
to CanCon that weekend. I get that amped up about
these fights. The only thing I can can compare it
to is maybe Christmas when you were a kid, or
opening day baseball. So for me, a big fight is
just as exciting to me as Opening Day Baseball. So
if I'm going away this weekend of visit my girlfriend's family,
you're basically asking me to miss Opening Day, hey Baseball,

(42:01):
to miss a fight that I've been waiting for, to
miss Christmas, to miss Christmas. And granted I'm only there
for the weekend. I'm like, Yo, you're asked if we
go out on Saturday night or we're hanging with your
family in the living room, if the fight's not on,
I feel like I'm missing out something, missing on, something
I've been waiting for and anticipating for months.

Speaker 4 (42:20):
What did your girlfriend say when you said this nothing yet?

Speaker 3 (42:22):
Are you the Yeah? I just hit her with a text, Hey,
can we watch the fight, make a night out of
it on Saturday. I'm only there for Friday, Saturday, and
I leave Sunday.

Speaker 4 (42:33):
Are you serious?

Speaker 3 (42:34):
I am serious, because that's what fights are for me.

Speaker 4 (42:37):
You know.

Speaker 3 (42:38):
It's like UFC three hundred just passed. She knows you
is You've been dating her a long time, she knows
you love fights. In fact, she doesn't, she laughed.

Speaker 4 (42:44):
At like, oh my god, every weekend you watch a fight.

Speaker 3 (42:47):
That's part one of my personal questions, right that's my
personal dilemma. Second part for me is, well, what is
that for you? Because that's how much I anticipate these fights,
not every fight fights Like you said, hey, when people
don't give answers, Yeah, I have two answers. I can't
wait to hear it. I know it's different for everybody,
but I want to hear your answer on that A
seven seven ninety nine on Fox at Covene Owners because

(43:10):
I don't think if you have and everyone has their answer,
I don't think you should ever be expected to miss
those things, because I mean, life is mundane, it's boring,
it's stressful sometimes. If these are the things that give
you joy, you gotta lean into them. You can't miss
out on those things. They're few and far between. I
have the perfect answer. I have a perfect answer, Hank Tied.

(43:32):
I'm gonna tell you exactly what you need to do
nice for this and what is that for you? Let
me know? Yeah, Ryan Garcia, Devin Hainey fight for me.
If I mean listen again, I don't want to say you.
I'm gonna give you all my opinions. I can't wait
for me, Danny, I don't know if you feel the
same way. I'm not trying to it's not a dig
at you, Danny, but they haven't been to the postseason
a while, your Raiders. But after Week eighteen of the NFL,

(43:56):
when they've officially made the NFL playoff schedule that Monday.

Speaker 4 (44:00):
I'm like, come on Saturday, Come on Saturday.

Speaker 3 (44:02):
Like I am waiting for that Saturday Sunday and wild
card weekend, Division weekend.

Speaker 4 (44:07):
Dude.

Speaker 1 (44:07):
The NFL draft is like the NFL drafts calendar for month.

Speaker 3 (44:11):
But if your team has a top five pick, yeah,
that week of the draft, you're like, come.

Speaker 4 (44:16):
On, let's go. And that's how many things in life
excite you to that point.

Speaker 3 (44:20):
So think about them?

Speaker 4 (44:21):
Wait are they?

Speaker 3 (44:22):
And I'm telling you that I think the number one
answer Vartians might be the draft. No, I think NFL playoffs.
For me, if you're asking me what excites me the
most in sports? When Week eighteens wrapping up in the
final wild card gets their slot and they're like, all right,
it's always the end of that last Sunday game because
they have that one flex Sunday night game, and in
like the third quarter, the announcer will be like, all right,

(44:44):
they've given us the official schedule. I pause, that crap, and.

Speaker 1 (44:47):
I'm liker that. But think back to when the NFL
season starts. It's like a holiday around here. We celebrate
like it's an early Christmas, and those are great moments
to embrace. I used to feel the way about opening
day baseball for real. I still do, man, and I
love the smell of the grass, and I try so
hard to ignore that date because the anticipation kills me.

(45:09):
It feels so far away, like a like a little
kid christ But you know what, look at my Mets,
for example, we joked about they started what five oho
and six, and now they're eight and eight. I I've
been convinced now that my eagerness for the start of
the baseball season is nonsense. And I have buddies that
have the mindset of, oh, I'll watch, but don't even

(45:31):
speculate until the All Star break, and I feel like
I might have to adopt that mindset because it's such
a long season, one sixty two.

Speaker 3 (45:39):
By July they've played eighty and you're like, yeah, but
I need to be negative, Norberto Rich to be downer.
But the older you get, even if you're the.

Speaker 4 (45:49):
Most passionate of people, the the.

Speaker 3 (45:54):
Luster, the excitement on things you used to love. It
starts to go away, a little bit like how excited
it used to be about Nudy Magazine Day? Is nudi
Magazine Day as exciting as it once was?

Speaker 4 (46:05):
That's true?

Speaker 3 (46:06):
No, So if you still get excited about certain things.
These are your holidays, these are your moments.

Speaker 4 (46:13):
You shouldn't be expected to miss them.

Speaker 3 (46:16):
Good luck convincing your thirty something year old girlfriend who's
in town with her friends and family that the one
night you're all there together.

Speaker 4 (46:22):
Where are we going? What fancy restaurant? What club? What bar?

Speaker 3 (46:25):
No? No, no, no, We're gonna have a Devin Haney
Ruyn Gussie a party at your parents' house. I know
your best art. I have your best bet. Yeah, let's
hear it. Your best bet is simple. You've been dating
it for a couple of years. Yeah, you get along
well with her family. Why don't you text her dad.

Speaker 4 (46:42):
A couple ten years? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (46:44):
I know.

Speaker 3 (46:44):
I'm trying to downplay. I don't want to put the
pressure on because I know other people thinking, where's the ring?
Covino going to Idaho? The boxing ring? It's on pay
per Vier. Let's go Saturday night Saturday night. It's in Brooklyn.
I want to talk to you about a ring. Oh
my god, the ring inside the MGM so at the Barclays,
the Barclays.

Speaker 4 (47:05):
So twenty four by twenty four foot ring.

Speaker 3 (47:07):
Here's here's my thought. You text your dad. Her dad
name's Lynn, right, yeah, right, his BIOX Sports support. Hey,
listen to the potato, Hey, Len, really pumped to see
you in the FAM this weekend. No, it would mean
a lot, you and I watching the fight together. Oh
that sounds manipulative, I know. And then you be like,

(47:29):
I'm watching the fight with your dad, And then it's
it's if you set it up like that, because he
would be down to watch the fight. It's not a
bad idea. But again, not to make it all about me.
That's just the same guy that your father, your your
girlfriend's dad took you fly fishing, and he took you
out to do his stuff. Right. Yeah, he'd be like,
I had such a good time when we went fly
fishing and you know, had a guy's day. No, it

(47:52):
would be awesome. You know, I'm a big boxing guy.
We got to watch his fight together, me and you.
I've been waiting for it for months. You gotta do
a little Tom Sawyer ex manipulation. That's my situation based
on that. My thought process was, Man, there's only a
few things in life that I anticipate that much. Hey, Len,
what's the best takeout place in Boise? Well, there's this

(48:13):
potato fixings place.

Speaker 4 (48:15):
Well, let's order for everyone, honestly, not everything there is potato.

Speaker 3 (48:18):
I imagine it just to be I imagine women wearing
burlap sacks. I imagine there was Dutch Bros And potatoes.
So Dutch Bros. Coffee where they're overly too nice to you. Yeah,
so any good plants this weekend?

Speaker 4 (48:31):
Just give me my coffee, damnit?

Speaker 3 (48:32):
So what brings you to town? Can I have a coffee?

Speaker 4 (48:36):
Please? Hey? Rich?

Speaker 3 (48:38):
So what is that for you?

Speaker 4 (48:39):
Is that the first kickoff of the season?

Speaker 3 (48:42):
Because these are the little things in life that we
live for, man, And I'm telling you those big fights,
it's right up there with Christmas morning. It's Sunday football
for me, And I feel like I speak on it's
a boring answer, but it's Sunday football for me. But
most importantly playoff football. In fact, so much so that
I look at some of the other guys on pals
with here in La.

Speaker 4 (49:02):
I'm like, who are you?

Speaker 3 (49:03):
I meaning, during the fall, there is a Sunday softball
league that I opt to not playing a lot because
I'm like, are you good? You guys are okay playing
Sunday softball with his football on all day? Like, isn't
softball designated for Like? I don't not this season.

Speaker 4 (49:19):
I don't think you should be expected to miss those
little joys in life.

Speaker 3 (49:23):
But you know what my girlfriend would say, every weekend,
you say, it's a good fight. I'm like, no, but
this was the true You are the boy that cried.
You are the boy that cried fight of the year.
I mean last weekend was UFC three hundred. This weekend
Garcia HAINI every time any g what is it for you?

Speaker 4 (49:37):
Man? Is it? Base? Is it? What?

Speaker 5 (49:39):
Is this?

Speaker 4 (49:39):
Is there it?

Speaker 1 (49:40):
Maybe it's I guess it's a tie between the NFL
draft because my team is always hopeful to draft a
franchise quarterback and the pieces that are missing have been
missing for a long time. And when football, when NFL
kicks off, that to me feels like a holiday like
Christmas morning, It really does.

Speaker 3 (49:59):
That's your new again. Christmas is fun, but it's not
like it was when you were little newdy. Magazine day
was great, but it doesn't really excite you any well.
What gives you joys?

Speaker 4 (50:09):
Give you joy? Joy? It does. It's true.

Speaker 3 (50:14):
Iowa, Sam, what's yours?

Speaker 4 (50:17):
I can't miss a Iowa football games? Yeah, yeah, that's
a big one. Can't do couch football college football for Iowa? Sam?

Speaker 3 (50:26):
Know what I used to do just to avoid conflict?
You could say it's a dope thing to do. I
used to not make plans in October with the hopes
that the Mets would be in the postseason. Like anytime
somebody like you want to take a trip at October,
I'm like, no, can do. If the Mets do it,
then I in my mind, I'm like, I just like
blocked out a hell of a lot of October for
no reason. But I still do it. You know, we're

(50:49):
gonna go to dB in a minute for an update.
But let's say, what's up to d in Florida?

Speaker 4 (50:53):
What's up date?

Speaker 13 (50:54):
What's going on?

Speaker 8 (50:55):
Fellows?

Speaker 3 (50:56):
Heyboddy, what's going on?

Speaker 8 (50:58):
Man?

Speaker 13 (50:58):
I'm with you now, I'm I'm I'm the biggest Dallas
Cowboys fan you want to meet. I haven't missed a
Dallas Cowboy game in at least the last five years now,
other than being in church, which sucks sometimes, but it's
because we play night games a lot, so they truck.
But I'm also the head of security at of middle school.
I'm talking about like, girls basketball gets me excited, boys

(51:22):
football gets me excited.

Speaker 4 (51:23):
Middle school.

Speaker 13 (51:24):
I have to watch more middle school football. Like I
don't even watch like NBA basketball anymore or college basketball.

Speaker 4 (51:33):
You join.

Speaker 3 (51:33):
Don't let people get in the way of anyone getting
away out. That's such a great that's such a good answer.
When our son Jaden was playing football for Agora High,
we were so excited the whole week leading up to
the big game. Yeah, sports really rally people together, a
community and everything that invested in middle school sports, Like
that's that's special.

Speaker 4 (51:53):
Man.

Speaker 3 (51:53):
I think that's awesome. If I were you, I'd say,
listen you. His girlfriend's name is Jordan. Jordan's parents Lennon,
what's the mom, Sandy? Lennon, Sandy put down the sour Hey, guys,
put down the sour creamin tribes for a second. We
got they don't just live on potatoes. Okay, all right,
take the shred of cheese. Hold off for a second,
because this Saturday is a fight of the candidate.

Speaker 14 (52:17):
You could have French fries, home fries, baked potato, curly fries, potatoes, potatoes.
All gatoes are grot, baked potato, twice baked potato, hash.

Speaker 4 (52:28):
Brown, potato hash brown.

Speaker 3 (52:31):
I thought I thought the number one answer on the
board would be first football game of the season. You know,
I think that's probably the universal. Like you took an average,
I would agree number one answer.

Speaker 4 (52:43):
Well, it's getting later early. Let's go to our pal
Dann Bayer.

Speaker 3 (52:45):
And by the way, spot hasslebacked potatoes, I think named
after the quarterback right Dan Seahawks.

Speaker 4 (52:50):
I just found out.

Speaker 12 (52:51):
Within the past two years that Arida was a combination
of Oregon and Idaho.

Speaker 3 (52:56):
I learned that.

Speaker 4 (52:57):
Did not know it now, No, just now I find that.

Speaker 3 (53:00):
Yeah, as you told men, oh wow, yes, DP, what's
it for your man football last week?

Speaker 4 (53:08):
The Masters? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (53:10):
Yeah, absolutely, that's a That's a really good one.

Speaker 5 (53:13):
Man.

Speaker 12 (53:13):
It's why I'm in such a crappy mood this week
because I gotta wait, you know, fifty one more weeks
for it. But even when we were having our baby,
I was you know, they told us like the do
date and you're like, Okay, well what about if he
comes early? And so I'm trying to do the math
and I'm figuring out, like I just don't be the
second week in April, he said, no, when I have
birthday parties, you know, on a Saturday of the.

Speaker 3 (53:35):
Third round of the Masters, I feel you things bring
your joy.

Speaker 4 (53:38):
Though, yes, you were away before Scheffler's time.

Speaker 12 (53:42):
Absolutely speaking of the Master's final around, TV ratings down
twenty percent from a year ago. Nine point five to
nine million watch the final round on Sunday. For the
WNBA Draft, completely different story, two point four million watch yesterday.
That's the highest ever for the event, the first time
that it received more than one million viewers.

Speaker 4 (54:02):
Playing tournament tonight.

Speaker 12 (54:03):
Lakers and Pelicans, seven thirty Eastern Warriors and Kings after
that at ten Eastern. Jannison Tetakumpo not likely to be
available for the Bucks at the start of their series
against the Pacers because of his CAF injury. Blake Griffin
retired today after fourteen seasons in the NBA.

Speaker 15 (54:55):

Speaker 4 (55:06):
Yeah, I'm reading this story more and.

Speaker 3 (55:10):
I you know, I hate when I what story the
puppy who lost his way? No, how does it end?
The gruff I'm reading. I don't know what story Rich
is read. There's a monster at the end of this book.
I'm reading more about Ryan Garcia and the New York Mets,

(55:31):
and I'll be honest, I got you know, when you
want to force yourself to make an opinion and you like,
I don't know, I need more info. Well, the backstory
here that the general public, the Fox Sports radio nation
needs to know is that Ryan Garcia appears to have
lost his mind. People don't know if he's lost his mind,
he's punched, drunk, he's on drugs, or he's just trolling

(55:54):
everybody to sell this fight that's coming up this week. Yeah,
sometimes you could troll everyone by acting like, Yo, did
he lose his mind?

Speaker 4 (56:01):
Is he going off the deep end? You see going on?
He got married again? Did you see that Covino? What dude? Yes,
he's married. Yes.

Speaker 3 (56:10):
By the way, Wan Soto just walked at the bases juiced,
so the Yankees pulling ahead of the Blue Jay. He
walked two load the bases.

Speaker 4 (56:18):
Oh no, wait ah, I.

Speaker 3 (56:20):
Thought the bases were loaded. He said they're gonna lose.
So anyway, Ryan Garcia appears to have lost his mind. Okay,
let me give you the time. He's saying crazy things.
Yesterday I saw him warming up on the field at
City Field, very excited to promote the fight and throw
out the first pitch. You talked about old school hip hop. Yeah, well,
make like juvenile. Back that ass up for a second,

(56:41):
because you're missing a big part of the story. Back
it up to earlier in the day. They're promoting this fight,
Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia. You know, you know the fight.
They talked about it yesterday. You know, the fight that
Kevino is going to force his father allowed to watch
an Idaho this week. Yeah right, I don't Potato boxing party,
can't wait. We talked about this yesterday. It was kind

(57:03):
of wild.

Speaker 4 (57:03):
We got mash Taters, we got Ill Grunton, we got.

Speaker 3 (57:06):
They got into a tussle on top of the Empire
State Building promoting the Witches French rug So Empire State Building,
Little face Off, New York City Fun Vibe the Fights.

Speaker 4 (57:21):
On four twenty.

Speaker 3 (57:22):
They get in each other's face and Devin Haney straight
up doesn't even mush it. I thought at first it
was a little mush action. I was right to the face.
It was like it was like a push, but it
wasn't like a put your hand on the face of push.

Speaker 4 (57:34):
Pretty much hit him in the face.

Speaker 3 (57:35):
Yeah, and Ryan started screening.

Speaker 4 (57:39):
Ryan freaked out.

Speaker 3 (57:40):
Ryan Garcia wanted to be a little bit of a baby.
He could be like, I'm proven Georges. It really was like,
uh the saltworthy. I know, because if you listen back
and you pull a little John Boy action, Ryan's saying
something about his mama. He says something about his mama
and talking about Haney's mom. I'm pretty sure, man, that's
what I got out of it. Well, he's talking about it,
and he's mom. Devin Haney does his best like I'm

(58:04):
gonna push Ryan Garcia almost off the Empire State Building.

Speaker 4 (58:09):
So next stop on.

Speaker 3 (58:10):
The promo tour with your boy Oscar de la Hoya.

Speaker 4 (58:15):
Is City Field.

Speaker 3 (58:17):
They're gonna do some dual throw out the first pitch
together in promotion of the fight, and Aaron Judge. Aaron
Judge just hits a line drive down the line, balls
and no man's land.

Speaker 4 (58:28):
It might clear the bases.

Speaker 3 (58:30):
Bob Bashet don't know what to do with that, man,
Thank you, Aaron Judge. Finally, guys batting on the Interstate
Captain comes through. Well, keep in mind, guys, this would
have been their fourth loss in a row, so I
have reason to be a little Also, keep in mind,
Conveno will be more pleasant for the next hour now. Yeah, So,
Ryan Garcia Devin Haney fast forward Mets game because in

(58:52):
an attempt to promote this fight and the fact that
there is no love loss between.

Speaker 4 (58:55):
These two guys.

Speaker 3 (58:56):
These two have been going at it since they were
little kids. They were sort of tussling and staring each
other down and making Mets officials a little uneasy. Like,
think about it, there's probably a bunch of weenies and
women working in the PR department. They're like, all right, guys,
settled down. They're like, we don't want a problem here.
You guys are here to just throw out the first pitch.
They met Steve Cohen, the owner, they met some of

(59:18):
the players, and then as they're getting ready, I think
there was some odd jawing back and forth and the
Mets are like, guys, we're just we're not doing this.
And Ryan Garcia reacts like this.

Speaker 16 (59:32):
The Mets just wasted three hours of our life to
say at the end, we can't throw the pitch for
whatever reason. There was no reason, and they kicked us
out for no reason. So everybody, I'm personally gonna say
the Mets, don't ever go to Mets game again.

Speaker 3 (59:47):
Because I'm gonna expose the Mets. And he does. He
starts like tweeting all these things about the Mets. He says,
go Yankees, and by the ways, up, what's too exposed
about the Mets. I'll expose it. They've stunk my whole life.
They gave me eighty.

Speaker 4 (01:00:00):
Six is a kindergarten kid he.

Speaker 3 (01:00:02):
Posted like every Mets controversy from like Vince Coleman in
the parking lot. Remember remember those stories about Vince Coleman fireworks.
He posted like every like controversial story about what if
this is like a reverse curse, you know, like you
know how they threw out the goat for the Cubs
and they and they had that hundred whatever, Maybe this
will be a reverse thing and they'll win this. Ye,

(01:00:22):
the Mets are hot now. They got rid of Rye Garcia,
they threw it vout. I don't know, I feel like
the Mets got a little nerdy with this, to be honest.
I mean, first of all, they're fighters, so hey, that
might have been fun. And to think that they can't
conduct themselves like professionals in that family type of atmosphere
is also kind of insulting because what happened at the

(01:00:43):
Empire State Building. Devin Haney is not normally that type
of kid. He's a he's a he's a true professional here.
He's a really disciplined fighter. This is a family friendly event,
and they kicked them out. They wasted these guys on
their promotional tour. The Mets wasted three hours of their
important time. They could be, they could be doing something else.

Speaker 4 (01:01:01):
I think that was a.

Speaker 3 (01:01:02):
Weak move by the Met if you want to talk
from a promotional standpoint, I think the fact that this
happened promoted the fight more because if they didn't fight
at the top of the Empire State Building or get
kicked out of City Field, I don't think a lot
of people would even know they're fighting. I know, and
you know because we're fight fans. Yeah, I think this
is one of those It's like me, like, did you

(01:01:23):
even know Ryan Garcia was at City Field?

Speaker 4 (01:01:25):
Unless he said if the Mets.

Speaker 1 (01:01:26):
I'm leaving, they probably would have threw the baseballs at
each other.

Speaker 4 (01:01:29):
That would have been great.

Speaker 3 (01:01:30):
Yeah, Ryan goes, how could you Mets? And he tweets
Vince Coleman. Right, he says, the Brett Saberhagen incident? What's that?
What did he do? I don't even know k Rod
slugs it out in.

Speaker 4 (01:01:42):
The locker room, anything about Dwight.

Speaker 3 (01:01:44):
Gooden, Bobby, the Bobby Bonilla contract. So he's exposing them now,
you know. The whole thing was sort of weird. I
didn't know that Hany was involved. What I thought was
they caught him and Dala Hoya up to no good,
doing something weird, and you're like, all right, guys, get.

Speaker 4 (01:02:03):
Out of here.

Speaker 3 (01:02:04):
I say, there's a lot of rumors swelling around their
their lifestyle. Don't don't let Lenny Dykstra know that people
were talking about the Mets. Imagine Lenny Dykstra now comes
out as a feudal oh yeah, oh my goodness, but yeah,
that happened yesterday. So Garcia was saying, f the mess
if you missed it one more time. I was saying,
here's Ryan Garcia, his hatred for the Mets.

Speaker 16 (01:02:23):
The Mets just waited three hours of our life to
say at the end, we can't throw the pitch for
whatever reason. There was no reason, and they kicks us
out for no reason. So everybody, I'm personally gonna say,
the Mets.

Speaker 4 (01:02:35):
Don't ever go to a Mets game again.

Speaker 3 (01:02:38):
Messed up. I think it's kind of messed up. You
get someone there, I get it. The Mets are trying
to play it safe. But hey, maybe Rich is right.
Maybe this adds to the promotion. So just a story
about Ryan Garcia, and it is interesting to think about, like,
is he pulling some sort of boxing Andy Kaufman? Here
is he pulling some sort of maneuver where it's all

(01:03:00):
in act because he is really acting unhinged. It's an
unhinged sort of performance that this kid's been pulling for
the past few months to promote this fight. Now, another story,
Dan Byer broke yesterday here on the show, and it
was about Applebee's and it's a hot Applebee's has partnered

(01:03:23):
up with the NFL. They're the official like mid level
restaurant of the NFL. I don't think they're calling it
mid level restaurant, but you know what, I think that's
what it was, the official mid level restaurant. And by
the way, I love Applebe's. By the way, when I
go home to Union, New Jersey to visit family and everything,
it's my uncle's number one spy bait. Let's get involved tonight.

(01:03:45):
And I know he's gonna say apple Beasts cause it's
just that's the spot. Is this the same uncle that
doesn't know how to use a QR code and has
a flip fund. Oh, I'm telling me you said that
text him on.

Speaker 1 (01:03:55):
So this makes us laugh because we have a host
here at the network. I know he swears by Applebee's.
It's his favorite restaurant.

Speaker 4 (01:04:04):
I like it too. I'll be honest. Listen, we grew up.

Speaker 3 (01:04:05):
I'm not We're not playing too cool for these restaurants
because we grew up with all of them. Applebee's is
a good hang my favorite by far when it comes
to this sort of genre, this this particular type of restaurant.
I worked at Bennigans for years, so Bennigans was and
still is my favorite of all those.

Speaker 4 (01:04:22):
I like Chili's appetite.

Speaker 3 (01:04:24):
If you are too cool for any food for that matter,
like those were our date spots. Like I'm fascinated when
people are too cool, Like dude, I'm good for a
nice fast food, I'm good for a super sassy, expensive restaurant,
and I'm good for a mid level chain restaurant. I mean,
who are you you? You would happen rich What happened
after our generation when when the weenials started going out

(01:04:46):
and they were legally drinking and going on dates, they
sort of abandoned those mid level restaurants that we would
go to, like a Friday's.

Speaker 1 (01:04:54):
I was gonna say, Fridays just shut down almost forty
of their location.

Speaker 3 (01:04:57):
And it makes sense because the generation younger than us
saw those as overpriced and lame and they'd rather go
to some sort of local artsy Ven's ear type of
what would you call those type of restaurants spot like,
they would rather go to that or some high end place,
like a local spot like a well that's a coffee

(01:05:19):
shop fan goes here, Yeah, that type of scene. They
would rather have gone to that local type of spot,
or like an expensive spot that mid level spot started
to be in. Yeah, because kidsway stadium. Kids are like,
if I'm gonna go out, I'm gonna go to a
sassy place on a date night, or I'm gonna just
like get grub Hub Chipotle. By the way, Applebee's was
named yesterday the official grill of the NFL named the

(01:05:41):
official Grill.

Speaker 4 (01:05:42):
And then there's another layer to this story.

Speaker 3 (01:05:44):
George Foreman must be upset now from the state of
California exactly. So, just recently here in California, they raised
minimum wage to all the fast food restaurants to twenty dollars.
And that's controversial in itself. Rich and I have debated
this on our Patreon. We have clips on it at
Cavino and Rich I thought it was kind of odd

(01:06:04):
to give twenty dollars for an entry level job. How
do you expect someone to live it's entry level, dude,
it's entry level one that works. You're not meant to
live on entry level job. Minimum wage was created at
a minimum you could live. As a result, small businesses
go out of business, and they raised the prices of
your hamburgers at McDonald's. And since they've raised the prices

(01:06:27):
at all these fast food restaurants, now they're saying kids
are more likely to say no to McDonald's, no to
In and Out, no to Carl's Junior, and yes to Applebee's,
yes to Chili's, and yes to all these fridays and
mid level restaurants that we grew up loving again. So
it might be the resurgence and comeback. It's the return
of the Oh wait, no, wait, yeah's just say what
I think he did, Yes, return of the Apple. It's

(01:06:50):
the return of the mid level. And the one thing
we could agree on with the minimum wage and the
rates is that if you are going to increase minimum
wage and fast food are jacking up their prices. I
was saying the other day, said he can't go to
Taco Bell and get all his fixings for less than
twenty bucks.

Speaker 4 (01:07:06):
You I guess she was not to Gorge. Could I
could eat like a reasonable person? And have you know
healthy places? The menu items have gone up? Yes they have.
Can you want something all a card? It's eight dollars.

Speaker 3 (01:07:20):
I go to Chipotle, I always say for my wife
and I for the two of us, two burrito balls
and a sot of chips and guacus thirty five dollars.
Easy you go to you go to like five guys Burgers.
People will say alone if you get yourself.

Speaker 4 (01:07:31):
Like a twenty five Bucks by yourself, if.

Speaker 3 (01:07:33):
You get a double double on fries and a drink,
it's twenty so on the Bucks. So what people are
doing and it makes sense. It's not the sassy restaurant.
Cavina brings it up and you're seeing it now. We
might have the resurgence of that mid level restaurant from
our teenage twenty year old years when we would take
a girl to Fridays. What the thinking is, if I'm
going to pay twenty five dollars for two burgers, I

(01:07:55):
might as well go to Applebe's. I might as well
go to Begains. I might as well go to Chilis.
Because fast food prices are now approaching the prices of
those mid level restaurants, especially if Chili's or Applebee's or
Benigans or Hula Hans. If they're saying, hey, we have
a we have a happy hour special, and our happy
hour special has like five dollars apps, people are gonna

(01:08:17):
go there and say, what damn, I'm gonna I'm going
back to Friday's, going back to and by the way,
if you had to name your top few items off
of those mid level ros the Jack sauce at tj
A Fridays Oh Jack Daniels Jack Jack Daniel sauce. By
the way, Friday's also has good frozen Margarita's, the.

Speaker 1 (01:08:35):
Seasoned fries at Red Robin.

Speaker 4 (01:08:38):
I feel like Danny G.

Speaker 3 (01:08:39):
I feel like every time I've gone to Red Robin,
it's been followed up with a terrible bathroom visits saying
it's so true, look at they just signed a contract
Red Robin.

Speaker 4 (01:08:55):
You just said Chili's. What is that?

Speaker 3 (01:08:59):
I like it too? I don't like myself. Twenty five
minutes later, do you know what boys to Men? Redid
the Babyback's Ribs song? Yes, Boys to Men? Just recently,
so that don't add to the hype again now, But
Danny Jeep mentioned Chili's. Danny, they have like a caso dip?
What is it like a fundato caso dip? That's fantastic,
Dan Buyer, what is your go to on.

Speaker 12 (01:09:18):
Those it's you were talking about Chili's They took off
the original chicken crispers from their menu from a year ago,
and there was an entire outrage for it. I know,
the baby back is more of the like the standing
thing in their chips and salsa, but the original chicken
crispers from Chili were That's the only thing I would
get Yo.

Speaker 4 (01:09:38):
The Southwest egg rolls too, which are I got it well?

Speaker 3 (01:09:43):
For years, guys, I worked before I got into radio,
and I would tell all the customers. I would tell
my colleagues, I can't wait to leave this place. You
could all kiss my ass to me a radio star
like whatever you got to pick up a table nine.
So I worked at ben Against for years. I worked
at Benigans. Bartended at Benigans in Springfield, New Jersey. It
is no longer there, but Benigan's does still exist, not

(01:10:06):
as many as there used to be, because again lo
these went away coming back though the Turkey o tool
was the ultimate you know what turkey sandwich with the
honey mustard on the pretzel roll, the pretzel rolls it yeah, spot,
I believe was it Swiss and Turkey? Yeah, Swiss and
Turkey on that pretzel roll with that so with that
honey mustard. The Monte Cristo was famous, but it wasn't

(01:10:29):
my favorite. I used to count Monte Cristo. Yeah, I
was very famous, and I used to The sampler was
famous at Benigan's and I used to always eat the
Health Club chicken platter, but their honey mustard was to
die for. So again, if you just joined us the
fast food prices, it joined us. It's fat Guy Radio.
We're talking about food. Welcome to fat Guy.

Speaker 4 (01:10:47):
Radio, everybody.

Speaker 3 (01:10:49):
Fast foods have hiked the prices up to offset the
minimum wage of twenty dollars. So casual dining chains like
Chili's and Applebee's, they're saying, are going to reap the benefits.
And it just coincides, coincidentally with the big announcement yesterday
that apple Bee's was named the official grill of the NFL.
Apple Bee's the go to casual dining destination for game day,

(01:11:13):
and it's kind of cool. Because again, it's like bulty
by the Way game when I play, Yeah, and I
figured you want to see right tribute.

Speaker 4 (01:11:24):
Yankees way.

Speaker 3 (01:11:27):
So it was kind of cool to see our our
teenage years, our childhood places sort of come back. Yeah,
because the prices aren't going to be that different than
fast food price. Like you can get a look at
a Friday, you can get a basic cheeseburger with fries
for dude, and that's like regular price. I imagine there's

(01:11:47):
happy hour. It would mills they shut our Fridays down. Yeah,
that's us. But again, if this is a trend and
we start jacking up these prices at Taco Bell and
and and in and out, this is gonna come back
and that and that NFL announcement.

Speaker 4 (01:12:07):
Was peculiar, but that'll bring more people back to these
restaurants a whole On a second, isn't that just the
isn't that just Applebee's paying the NFL bowtload of money
to say, yeah, we're the official grill pretty much, but
that's a good promotion. Yeah, Yeah, I didn't see the
connection at all. There'll there will always be some advertisement running.
It's like these cleats are the official cleats of the NFL.

(01:12:29):
This gum is big Red is the official gum of
the NFL.

Speaker 12 (01:12:33):
Is an official ladder of the ncaatnment. Yeah, there, Ish
dan Byer. When you made that announcement yesterday, though, I
was like, well what is that? I really did think, well,
what does that mean. It's just they've entered a multi
year partnership agreement designating Applebee's as.

Speaker 3 (01:12:49):
The official grill and bar of the NFL.

Speaker 1 (01:12:52):
But I wonder if this will bring those businesses back,
because I also saw that Red Lobster is gonna They're
on the brink of declaring bank.

Speaker 4 (01:13:00):
Yes, I saw that.

Speaker 1 (01:13:01):
So some of these mid level places like Friday it's
got a whole Friday a bit longer.

Speaker 3 (01:13:05):
Yeah, exactly. Are There's Olive Garden half a step up.

Speaker 4 (01:13:09):
I think it's I think it's along there. It's just
that brands.

Speaker 12 (01:13:13):
It's just a talleng like Boston Market. I think it's like,
you know, it's a step.

Speaker 4 (01:13:17):
Food also fall out of the times the markets market back.

Speaker 3 (01:13:21):
Just the Boston market isn't that same category as Panera
bread where you bring the number to your table, like
it's that in between.

Speaker 12 (01:13:27):
I read an article that recently about Boston market that
at the start of twenty twenty three, they had three
hundred locations across the country, they're down to like twenty seven.

Speaker 4 (01:13:38):
Sad. Yeah, dude, Yeah, that's sad. So everybody's going to Applebee's.
That's why.

Speaker 3 (01:13:43):
Okay, so okay. Based on the announcement right Dan and
Fox Sports Radio Nation, who wins the mid Level Restaurant Wars?
When all said and done, we know Taco Bell wins
the fast food Wars in the future. According to demolition Man,
who wins the mid Level Restaurant Wars? With the momentum
of the NFL Chili's Does Fridays make a comeback? Does

(01:14:04):
Bennegan's come back from the woodwork?

Speaker 4 (01:14:06):
Correct me?

Speaker 3 (01:14:07):
I mean I could be wrong. In fact, I'm usually wrong,
so there's a good chance of this here. I think
Applebee's then in the prime of all those restaurants. When
I say nineties early two thousand foot Rutgers Hula Hans,
I mean my sister.

Speaker 12 (01:14:20):
Rutgers was a step down, kind of like Boston Market.
Now BJ's is in like thirty states. Yes, that's something,
but house go ahead, Rich.

Speaker 3 (01:14:33):
My thought was back then. I don't know why I
thought Tgi Fridays was the benchmark. I don't know why,
I feel like it was good.

Speaker 4 (01:14:40):
I'm with you.

Speaker 3 (01:14:41):
I thought that was like one it was come be
wrong when you look back at the day. I was
all like, I loved Applebee's and Hula Hans and all
the others, but I thought Fridays was.

Speaker 4 (01:14:48):
Sort of like the the thing.

Speaker 3 (01:14:50):
And you're right, they have a pretty decent menu and
you would take a date there. That was what we did.

Speaker 12 (01:14:54):
Rich's point about the Jack Daniel sauce. I wouldn't get
the Jack Daniel sesame strips for the appetizer and then
get the.

Speaker 4 (01:15:03):
Chicken breast Jack Daniels for the meal. Yeah, and you
drink it by the glass. Yeah, seriously, do shots of it.

Speaker 3 (01:15:10):
And they had this sweaty like margarita thing frozen. I
don't know what that was, but it was not a
magical like a Texas roadhouse.

Speaker 4 (01:15:16):
No Riches.

Speaker 3 (01:15:17):
Right, that's a little step up, because Rich, that is
a good cuts of meat.

Speaker 1 (01:15:20):
On Friday nights, Fridays would bring a DJ in and
people would start dancing by the bar.

Speaker 4 (01:15:25):
Yes, so Fridays was so popular they try to turn
it into a little club. At the end of the
Friday Night there.

Speaker 3 (01:15:31):
That's so funny. Hey, you know what, If anything, it's
just a good reminder some of these places were very
important to our childhood and then our vacteen in twenty
years when you were going on your first dates. Because
fast food is getting so expensive, we might see the
re emergence of the sit down, mid level restaurant, the Applebee's,
Friday's Chili's of your life. Would you look at the time.

(01:15:52):
We gotta do this. There's a certain.

Speaker 4 (01:15:57):
What we gonna do is go back.

Speaker 10 (01:16:01):
Back into town, throwing it back for a Thursday.

Speaker 4 (01:16:05):
Old school went fifty.

Speaker 10 (01:16:07):
That's fifty after CNR give you the time capsule topic
and we reminisce together.

Speaker 3 (01:16:13):
Yeah. Yeah, so Danny g a doozy today. You brought
up some old school jingles and it got us thinking.

Speaker 5 (01:16:23):
Bro.

Speaker 3 (01:16:24):
There was a viral like YouTube video of the top
ten of.

Speaker 1 (01:16:27):
All Yeah, the Folgiers one really got me thinking about this.

Speaker 3 (01:16:31):
The best part of waking.

Speaker 4 (01:16:37):
Is that that might be.

Speaker 3 (01:16:38):
That's why I don't like these lists, because I don't
ever agree with them, but i'd be the best one.
But the crazy part is, I mean, maybe maybe it's
still out there for people on a budget.

Speaker 4 (01:16:48):
But do you know anyone that drinks Folgers coffee?

Speaker 1 (01:16:51):
Yeah, I don't tell anybody about my wife. He drinks
it for real.

Speaker 3 (01:16:54):
Yeah, Like when I go to the supermarket, you know
they have the biggest Starbucks's not the best part of
this is a classic. Yeah, but Folgers comes in a
jug and it's like three Bucks.

Speaker 4 (01:17:03):
And men drink folds and you go to the mechanic
shop and that's always like the coffee in that the
stale coffee is full, you make some of the partial.

Speaker 3 (01:17:11):
To chuck full of nuts and then the yellow teg
so Brenda drinks folders and you drink Senka. Is that
how your morning works?

Speaker 4 (01:17:20):
Thanks MANA Scalco.

Speaker 3 (01:17:22):
Exactly.

Speaker 4 (01:17:23):
I have a Sanka spoon I still use just for
my normal wow learning.

Speaker 3 (01:17:25):
Stuff, but iowa sam So based on a snowback Thursday
old school. When fifty hits, we ask you the most
memorable jingles of all time?

Speaker 4 (01:17:35):
We're making our own list.

Speaker 3 (01:17:37):
Yeah, and I'll tell you the YouTube's top three. But
I don't want to give away any answers, all right,
but I'll tell you what that is if you stick around.
I have my personal favorites, rich I know you have yours.
We also have some more. You know, it's a fun
fact Thursday, So we got some fun facts about this.
What would you put up there? Is your favorite jingle
of all time? Because that's the era we grew up

(01:17:58):
in when we'd be watching car tunes and we'd be
singing along a lot of all the jingles we grew
up with were memorable to the point where we knew
the words. I'm not gonna lie. You and I might
have the same favorites. I don't wanna, I don't want
to steal your answer, but it really fires me up.
Let's hear it. Let's just say, if I want to

(01:18:19):
get fired up, I grabbed me some juicy fruit. The
taste is gonna move you. Juicy fruit, This says rock
and a rich guy. Get my ski shine God, get
your shined up fruit.

Speaker 4 (01:18:40):
Take a snip, is gonna move your window. It's gone
gum right, juicy fruit.

Speaker 10 (01:18:54):
The taste, the taste, taste.

Speaker 3 (01:18:57):
You know what though, you know gum was slang it
back then because Harmonies not only does that song rock,
but they also had the big red one, my favorite.

Speaker 17 (01:19:05):
So kiss a little longer the whole time, a little
longer and then double big Yeah, that big red fresh
chanswer your fresh path, Oh my god?

Speaker 3 (01:19:22):
Yeah yeah, and what was the double mid one because
double your freshness, double fun.

Speaker 1 (01:19:29):
Before we started this segment, Iowa Sam told me I
could do an eight hour podcast this is my wheelhouse.

Speaker 3 (01:19:34):
Wow. Yeah, because again we were sitting there man Cereal,
watching TV. So you know what, think of your favorite
The phones will already all lit up your favorite old
school jingle on a throwback Thursday, we got more fun.
Plus of course some NBA, some NFL could being on
Rich Fox Sports Radio having fun Thursday, Let's go. There

(01:19:58):
was this viral YouTube clip about old school jingles, and
we figured we'd go over some of our favorite ones
and make our own list before we go to the phones.
At eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven
seven ninety nine on Fox. I want to give you
the top three according to this list. All right, So
if I'm taking your answer away, I'm sorry, but I
don't think I am coming in to number three. Number

(01:20:21):
three in my Best Spider Harrison from Sirius XM Spider
Harris alka seltzer PLoP PLoP fizz phizz number three. Oh
actually that was number two. I'm your carbo Countdown, got
a number three Huggies. Mommy, wow, I'm a big kid now, Mommy, wow,
that is a good kid. Now coming to number two.

(01:20:42):
You already heard it, al celt PLoP PLoP, fizz phizz
and cheating blen Chandra cheating. Blen Chandra also pointed out
that Jimmy Connors was a part of that tennis great
Jimmy Connors, saying that memorable for a particular general and
the number one recording.

Speaker 4 (01:21:03):
Here's a jingle for number one.

Speaker 3 (01:21:05):
Coming here, number one Top ten jingles of all time,
Spider Harrison with a y. Why I don't know is
band aid? I'm stuck on band aid and band aids
stuck on me. But guess what, there's a fun factor.
It's a fun fact and I'm about to drop a
bomb on you. Fun fact Thursday. We should save this

(01:21:27):
for Friday one day.

Speaker 1 (01:21:28):
Yeah, I know it's coming.

Speaker 3 (01:21:31):
There's a very famous artist that your mom grew up loving.
She probably saw him perform at the Cooper at the
Copo Cabana.

Speaker 4 (01:21:41):
What do you mean my mom spot loves it too,
he said. My mom likes I'm like Neil Diamond.

Speaker 3 (01:21:46):
Do you know? Barry Manilow wrote a lot of those
famous jingles he wrote the band Aid one, he wrote
one that I'm about to give away.

Speaker 1 (01:21:53):
And he would tweak his voice to sing some of them.

Speaker 4 (01:21:56):
Danny G.

Speaker 3 (01:21:57):
You brought it up in our pre show meeting. He
brought like a good he wrote, like a good neighbor
state farm is there? Crazy, Barry Manilo. The best version
is the best version is Peyton Manning and Brad Paisley.
That is the best version of a good neighbors state
farmer is there? So that might be your number one
because it's so famous to get how long it's been around. Now,

(01:22:19):
there's a lot of jingles that Barry Manilow wrote that
people forgot about or we moved past. H that one
still remains.

Speaker 1 (01:22:25):
I read that he has like ten major ones that
he still earns money off.

Speaker 4 (01:22:28):
You know what it's like, Danny G.

Speaker 3 (01:22:30):
Barry Manilo dominated the jingle game the same way the
late great Alan Thick dominated the TV theme game. A
lot of people don't realize Alan Thick did Facts of Life.
He sang a lot of those things. Different strokes you
could actually hear if you pay attention to being serious,
you'll hear alan Thick's voice like, oh my god, that
is alan Thick. So when you listen to Well the World,

(01:22:53):
don't move to the beat, just one that's alan Thick, dude.
So anyway from growing paints right, let's go to the phones.
Let's chop it up the most memorable jingles old school
in fifty Hey, give you one more?

Speaker 4 (01:23:06):
Before the phone?

Speaker 3 (01:23:06):
Sure, I was saying, you got the Mentos jingle on standby.
I feel like Mento's one of my favorites. Mentos to
me was more popular in jingle form than actual eating Mentos.
I don't even know what Mentos is, but hear what here?
It is the freshmaker.

Speaker 4 (01:23:21):
Mentos.

Speaker 3 (01:23:22):
I'm picturing that guy on the bench and and he
sits on the bench with his jacket aty.

Speaker 17 (01:23:27):
It doesn't matter what times live, nothing.

Speaker 4 (01:23:34):
Get you.

Speaker 11 (01:23:38):
With Mentos Fresh and.

Speaker 4 (01:23:53):
It's supposed to be Mentos the fresh Maker.

Speaker 3 (01:23:56):
You know, I think the fresh Maker Dave Growl and
the food Fighters re enacting it.

Speaker 4 (01:24:02):
Thanks version.

Speaker 3 (01:24:04):
Let's go to the phones eight seven, seven ninety nine
on Fox. The ones that stood out to you mental
sity deal. You got to start with a guy named
Trip in Vegas. Let's up Trip, Trip McNeely.

Speaker 5 (01:24:17):
Good afternoon, and gentlemen, thank you for taking my call.

Speaker 4 (01:24:19):
No problem, come to mind.

Speaker 8 (01:24:21):
I got a couple.

Speaker 6 (01:24:22):
First one would be, uh my boloney has a first name.

Speaker 11 (01:24:26):
It's Oscar.

Speaker 3 (01:24:28):
Yeah, yeah, legendarlastic, like just transcends generations, for sure, dal
trip any others. You know, the only reason I know
how to spell baloney is thanks to that.

Speaker 4 (01:24:38):
So not true. Yeah you got one more trip?

Speaker 2 (01:24:41):
Yeah, dude, I got one more. Well, I got settled,
but I don want to this one.

Speaker 13 (01:24:43):
How about h I'm a pepper, you're a pepper? Would
you like to be a stepper tooth?

Speaker 3 (01:24:49):
Yeah, that's a good one, that is no, Yeah, for sure.
I was just thinking now the doctor pepper commercialist sweet
and a lot of people don't know. That's Justin Garini
from American Idol. Remember that kid with the afro, the
kid that.

Speaker 4 (01:25:05):
Lost Season one?

Speaker 3 (01:25:06):
A little sweet?

Speaker 4 (01:25:07):
That sweet was sweet.

Speaker 3 (01:25:09):
That's Justin Garini from American Idol.

Speaker 4 (01:25:11):
Fun Facts. This is really a.

Speaker 3 (01:25:12):
Fun fact type of show. I know, Steven Boise, where
the potatoes are strong? Be there this weekend?

Speaker 4 (01:25:18):
What up?

Speaker 3 (01:25:19):
Do you know? What'll buy you a Dutch Brothers?

Speaker 4 (01:25:20):
What's up? Steve?

Speaker 2 (01:25:22):
No, I just gave you my infro on Yeah, to
buy you drink.

Speaker 7 (01:25:27):
I am the freedo.

Speaker 3 (01:25:34):
My dad saying that to me my whole life, throwing up,
yeah for sure.

Speaker 4 (01:25:38):
Yeahs like a three it's based on a three tenor
song like. It sounds like it's it's I know yodas.

Speaker 3 (01:25:44):
It's uh, it's American, I mean that Mexican Mariacci.

Speaker 4 (01:25:49):
Steve, you said you had one more?

Speaker 5 (01:25:52):
Oh, I'm sure.

Speaker 10 (01:25:53):
Uh, that's kind of a cheesy.

Speaker 13 (01:25:55):
One is for apple Jay's for jacks, cinnamon toast apple jacks.

Speaker 3 (01:26:00):
Yeah, not only an old you go cereals, that's a
whole category, cinnamon, cinnamon, and juggar, bacon. Up about if
you got the whole Yeah, I mean you gotta think
how obsessed we were. We really hypnotized by these things.
And by the way, when's the last time you had
apple jacks? Did they even make those? My wife likes
that really oddly enough, My goodness, let me hit you

(01:26:23):
up with one more that's more current. But Larry David
couldn't get this out of his head on the recent
season of Curb Your Enthusiasm. The whole jg wentworth you
know that'll get stuck in your head.

Speaker 4 (01:26:40):
Show.

Speaker 3 (01:26:45):
I saw a funny meme that said, that's so funny,
you can stop. It said, I saw funny Sam wants
to stop. Sam could do an eight hour show.

Speaker 4 (01:26:54):
I have thoughts on J went with, but go ahead.

Speaker 3 (01:26:56):
I saw his thoughts on them controversial.

Speaker 4 (01:27:00):
He's like, I like how the tenor.

Speaker 3 (01:27:02):
I saw a funny meme It said if I got arrested,
I don't know anyone's phone number anymore because of you know,
you keep he goes. The only press I'd be able
to call is JG. Wentworth, And I'm like, you know what, facts? Actually,
I got think of two other people I could call
aside from JG.

Speaker 4 (01:27:16):
Wentworth.

Speaker 3 (01:27:16):
Oh should I shout him out? Please do? I don't
want to take anyone answer away, But uh, how about
eight seven seven Cars for Kids? And how about eight
hundred and five eight day two three hundred Empire. In fact,
I think some old dude who was part of the
original song reenacted it with like his grandkids recently and

(01:27:39):
it went viral and you could recognize the voice because
he sang it.

Speaker 4 (01:27:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:27:43):
The funniest part of this conversation is that it's just
proving that Jingles, theme songs, all these things are so working. Yeah,
they're impactful. Like, for sure you know some of them.
But what I'm saying if you take it to sports
for a second, if you're telling me the nineties MBA
on NBC theme or the Monday Night Football song of
that Sunday Night Football dun't dun't d no no, Like,

(01:28:06):
those songs and themes are so memorable, so memorable, and
even with the NFL Draft coming up next week, that
little tone is famous for you do do do do that? Man,
Tommy Segy, hit us up at Covino and Rich and
we'll wrap it up with your phone calls.

Speaker 4 (01:28:26):
Everybody. Hang tight.

Speaker 3 (01:28:27):
Fun fact by the way, that you know that's Steve
Covino on the snare drum there. I was saying to
play that. A lot of people know that, and it's
a Rich onto the trumpet right here. Tommy Segi hit
us up at Covino and Rich. Everything's at Covino and
Rich at Fox Sports Radio. He says, come on, guys,
you know Fox Sports like Mike the Gatorade commercial dream Yeah,

(01:28:51):
I mean as a kid, he is, I was huge.
That's part of Michael Jordan's legacy. In my opinion, that
really I think solidified it for kids because you realize, yeah,
every kid did want to be like Michael Jordan. That
was awesome. So you absolutely are your answers. But honestly,
as a kid, we we got we got it. We

(01:29:12):
don't have in the system.

Speaker 4 (01:29:13):
Bursch.

Speaker 3 (01:29:13):
You gotta Paul to be like Mike because it ties
everything from sports and jingles together. Because when we were kids,
that made you want to drink gatorade. It did him.
Do you know I'm picturing the black and white one
and the gatorade was in color?

Speaker 4 (01:29:29):
Right?

Speaker 3 (01:29:29):
Is that what you picture?

Speaker 4 (01:29:30):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (01:29:30):
There was several you guys are crossing over in the
theme songs.

Speaker 3 (01:29:33):
Now that's a commercial.

Speaker 4 (01:29:35):
It's j yeah, maybe jingle the yeah? What is it?

Speaker 8 (01:29:39):
Does?

Speaker 4 (01:29:39):
A jingle? Is a jingle shorter? Because the Applejacks is
like your definition of a jingle.

Speaker 3 (01:29:45):
But like the juicy fruit one we played, that's like
a song sort of yeah, shin up, grab a stick,
good juicy fruit. I think your iTunes right, I think
of that as the extended jingle.

Speaker 1 (01:29:56):
Rich when you're playing recreational softball in some he makes
a great grab.

Speaker 4 (01:30:01):
What do people do? They say?

Speaker 3 (01:30:04):
Yeah, that's the Yeah, that's that's I think it has
a stinger.

Speaker 4 (01:30:08):
That's a stinger. Dinger, Yeah, jingles.

Speaker 3 (01:30:10):
Like when you say stinger, I think, like you said,
the NFL draft a week away?

Speaker 4 (01:30:13):
Did do do?

Speaker 3 (01:30:13):
Do?

Speaker 4 (01:30:13):
Do do do?

Speaker 3 (01:30:15):
That's like a that's a memorable stinger, as you would say,
I guess right.

Speaker 4 (01:30:19):
I think it's the.

Speaker 3 (01:30:21):
Call that a stinger. I think, yeah, kids, that's called
the So we're wrapping up with your phone calls. Throw
Back Thursday, Old School and fifty hits eight seven, seven
ninety nine on Fox your top jingles of all time.
According to that viral video, it was the band Aid one.
But we disagree. We're going over some better. Remember that,
uh Roger in Tacoma, Hey, Roger Fellas.

Speaker 5 (01:30:42):
So we used to sing jingles and theme songs over
and over in our families, so we knew them all.
So you might remember.

Speaker 2 (01:30:48):
McDonald's first first came out with to all.

Speaker 3 (01:30:51):
These We remember we had it on vinyl. Yeah, they
came like a little record. Yeah we had it because
that was a big prize Camp of Pain. If they
said you want at the end of that record, you won, Like,
I forget what the prize was, but I remember.

Speaker 13 (01:31:05):
I lost stayed under a three seconds stuff. So then
Burger King felt the depression they hold of pickles old and.

Speaker 6 (01:31:12):
Let us special lords, don't upset.

Speaker 2 (01:31:14):
That's all we have is that you let us have
it your way?

Speaker 5 (01:31:17):
Have it your way?

Speaker 4 (01:31:20):
How hilarious?

Speaker 3 (01:31:21):
You know what I thought he was going to say, though,
as a Burger King ad plays on TV. How ironic
is that?

Speaker 4 (01:31:27):
Look at that?

Speaker 3 (01:31:29):
I thought he was going to say after the original
that's probably.

Speaker 4 (01:31:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:31:34):
I thought he used to say bought up, because that's
a yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:31:38):
Well the new kind of catch you too?

Speaker 1 (01:31:40):
And you know you know who wrote that push a
t what and the clips?

Speaker 3 (01:31:44):
I didn't know that. Yeah, by the way, and by
the way, that's how Roger won over his wife. Dude,
you know he thought, Hey, listen to this. It just
goes to show you how impactful these things were. Ready,
you're a big cereal guy. I was a serial killer
back in the eighties. I got one.

Speaker 10 (01:32:04):
What do you got?

Speaker 3 (01:32:06):
I'm the repind Mesta, and I'm here to say I
love fruity pebbles in a major way, loss in a
major way. That was just a random commercial, that was
a song. It was just a random commercial that we
all loved and knew and I loved. I used to
house some coke pebbles.

Speaker 1 (01:32:21):
Did you guys have any regional drops?

Speaker 4 (01:32:23):
Rich?

Speaker 1 (01:32:23):
I know back in the day you worked for the
famous Z one hundred. It's a famous radio station jingle.

Speaker 4 (01:32:29):
Z one hundred.

Speaker 1 (01:32:31):
Yeah, in southern California, And I think people outside of
Cali might know this one cal Worthington and his dog Spot.
And we didn't know. Me and my older brothers kids
had no idea, and other kids saying the same thing,
go see cow, go see cow, go see cow. But
we thought it was pussy cow, pussy cow, pussy cow,
because he had all these circus animals and all of

(01:32:51):
these commercials.

Speaker 3 (01:32:52):
Dude, I got two of them. We're from the East Coast,
growing up in New I grew up in Union, New Jersey,
but we all listened to New York radio and the
two that's out to me the most is one oh
one CBS, F one oh on CBS. And then they
had this franky Valley guy seeing.

Speaker 4 (01:33:09):
Your favorite all the CBS.

Speaker 3 (01:33:12):
FM, and then it was w UFA y.

Speaker 4 (01:33:18):
Yr so Smarts Radio six to six.

Speaker 3 (01:33:22):
Wuf Yes that you see these things stay in your
heads forever.

Speaker 4 (01:33:26):
Man.

Speaker 3 (01:33:27):
You know what I let me give you, Let me
give you another based very East coast. I know this regional.
I was like Danny g I didn't realize the the
the love of Earl Shive out here on the West coast.
When we were on the East coast local there was
a place called mount Airy Lodge. I don't know if
it was upstate New York.

Speaker 6 (01:33:45):
It was a.

Speaker 4 (01:33:47):
Beauty, a full mount Airy Lodge.

Speaker 3 (01:33:51):
Oh, you have to bring is your love of everything beautiful.
He's so right about that. And you know what I
thought you're gonna say though, the Lulla Bion Broadway.

Speaker 4 (01:34:00):
The Mill.

Speaker 3 (01:34:02):
Which Roach Motel on Eighth Avenue in New York City.
They aired that commercial all the time when we were kids.
All right, wrapping it up with your phone calls, Ron
favorite jingles in Alabama?

Speaker 4 (01:34:14):
What's up? Ron?

Speaker 2 (01:34:16):
Hey, guys were good man?

Speaker 4 (01:34:17):
What comes to mind? Old school jingles?

Speaker 2 (01:34:19):
Well, this is a really old school one, probably before
your time. But there used to be a camera called
the Swinger and they used to go, it's almost a camera,
it's almost alive. It's only nineteen dollars and ninety five?

Speaker 3 (01:34:32):
Dude, what year was that now?

Speaker 4 (01:34:33):
For real?

Speaker 3 (01:34:33):
Because this is amazing that you said that might.

Speaker 2 (01:34:35):
Be late, that might be late sixties.

Speaker 3 (01:34:38):
It shows the power of jingle. Yeah, amazing.

Speaker 2 (01:34:42):
How you remember that though? And the guy before me
mentioned about McDonald's. I used to work there when that
jingle came out, and we have I saw have a
T shirt. I think I saved it has a whole,
you know, to all these patties printed on the front
of the shirtoon.

Speaker 5 (01:34:55):
We had to wear it.

Speaker 4 (01:34:56):
Every kid sixty five is what I'm seeing on YouTube.

Speaker 3 (01:34:59):
And the jingle extra credit to jingle outlast the product.
Like the guy's still saying the product hasn't been around
in thirty years, fifty years probably, you know, did Birsch
pull trying to think did he pull the old school
five dollars foot long? But you the first second the
other day, I was just complaining how a foot long
subway is now nineteen dollars baseline.

Speaker 4 (01:35:18):
Boom boom boom by your dandy g on the base
there twenty twenty dollars. Twenty dollars.

Speaker 3 (01:35:33):
Now they advertised six dollars cookie, Yes, six dollars, six inch,
five dollars cookie. Who do we got next? That's uh
a Lynn in Florida?

Speaker 4 (01:35:42):
Hey Lynn? What's up?

Speaker 8 (01:35:46):
What's up?

Speaker 3 (01:35:47):
All right?

Speaker 8 (01:35:47):
I don't know if anybody's going to remember this one,
but it was a good one and I really think
the product is still around.

Speaker 3 (01:35:54):
Coola was the scoreboard at Shay Stadium with a Mets plate.
It was RC Cola everywhere in Queens.

Speaker 8 (01:36:02):
And the jingle was some kids still do Califony tanss
up and down slow such.

Speaker 13 (01:36:12):
I get up back some day.

Speaker 8 (01:36:14):
Maybe I'm gonna know one the way them on the
twe to me and my.

Speaker 3 (01:36:25):
You go to Holly, you go to Hollywood.

Speaker 1 (01:36:29):
I didn't think the new Taylor swift dropped until midnight,
and that was the Royal Crown calla jingle.

Speaker 3 (01:36:34):
I had no idea is that royal crown? You didn't
notice the royal Crown? Well, I'm the son of a
I used to ride with the vending machine repair man.

Speaker 4 (01:36:42):
Hard to find her these days. He's made.

Speaker 3 (01:36:44):
But you know what, let me tie it back to
sports again. These are regionals, so I apologize, but they
were famous to me and some of you might recognize it.
Gotta go to mos gotta go to modals, Gotta go
to which is a sporting Okay, It's equivalent of Big
Five out here growing up before that was Herman's we

(01:37:05):
are sports.

Speaker 1 (01:37:07):
No, nobody said one of my favorite Halloween candies, give
me a.

Speaker 4 (01:37:11):
Break, Give me a break, break me off a piece
of that kid Cat for.

Speaker 3 (01:37:26):
It's a good one, Danny Jerry.

Speaker 1 (01:37:31):
And then my brother was an animal and he would
take a bite from the side.

Speaker 4 (01:37:35):
And I know there's a whole subplot of an episode
of the Office where Andy's trying to figure out what
the lyrics are to the Kitcat theme and he's like,
break me off a piece of that football cream and
he can't.

Speaker 3 (01:37:47):
You can't. Yeah, it's a great episode. Two jingle writers
in sitcom history that come to mind? Can you think
of him in the last I'd say thirty years? Yeah,
it wasn't. I think I got one. Wasn't It wasn't

(01:38:08):
Uncle Jesse. Uncle Jesse. Wasn't Uncle Jesse, un him and
him and Uncle Joey remember a jingle company? Okay, I
was gonna say Joey. So Uncle Jesse and Uncle Joey
wrote jingles in San Francisco.

Speaker 4 (01:38:20):
It was the other one in real life, Clayton Kershaw's dad.

Speaker 3 (01:38:23):
Yes, Yeah, that's that's crazy. I didn't know that. And
there's one more spot. The show is based in Beach
house in Malibu. A lot of the time he's at
his piano and he writes jingles. Oh yeah, I met
Charlie Harper. Charlie was a jingle writer. Get that must
pay nicely. Well, look, maybe we could take one more

(01:38:43):
phone call. No, I think we're good, but are so late.
So here's what we're gonna do. Just go to the
Twitter page, our ex page, Instagram, whatever. Hit us up
at Covino and Rich at Fox Sports Radio. Hashtag greatest
jingles whatever, hashtag Cavino rules. Danny g I see the
look in his eye. He wants Michael Pennox Junior on

(01:39:04):
his raiders.

Speaker 4 (01:39:05):
You gotta trade up for the I.

Speaker 1 (01:39:07):
You think it'll faulty yet, Well, if you can't get
up the draft board and get Jaden Daniels, then you
gotta go with Pennix Junior at thirteen.

Speaker 3 (01:39:14):
Hey, Rich, speaking of presenting and looks in your eye?
Are you staring at that picture of Bert Kreischer that
he posted today? I saw that a little light blue speedo.
You know how I know that? By the way, can
I tell you how? I Can I tell you how
I know how I know that I'm hosting an event
this morning. I had to do an event down in
Long Beach, California. They got a racing event going on

(01:39:36):
with serious ExM and I was down there and some
woman she didn't see there's something I was trying to
show her. I was like, oh, have you seen that clip?
And she's like, no, I haven't seen. Oh I know
what it was. She was telling me she loves Sublime,
and I'm like, have you seen Bradley nols Son Jacob Knowles, Yeah,
performed at Coachello with Sublime, all his late dad's music.

(01:39:58):
It was beautiful.

Speaker 4 (01:39:59):
And I go, you know, let me show you on Instagram.

Speaker 3 (01:40:01):
I open up my Instagram and it goes right to
Burke Kreischer and a speedo median. Burt Kreischer is showing
more helmet than Danny G's Raiders. I don't know what's
something's going on there. Yeah, yeah, you gotta check that
out on your own time. But there's other stuff to
get to this hour weekend hobnobbing. What you need to
watch in all the sports and entertainment. We do it

(01:40:22):
every Friday, And of course we gotta tell you about
the fight and all the drama. Haini Garcia Rich is
saying it doesn't matter that the belt's.

Speaker 4 (01:40:31):
Not up for grabs.

Speaker 3 (01:40:32):
I don't think people care about belts due that takes
away so much fun. Even our buddy West just hit
up and he's like, well, that news kills the fight,
like people think, oh the fight's ruined, now ruined. Yeah, well,
we got lots to get through. Danny g you got something.

Speaker 1 (01:40:46):
Yeah, before we get to that. I don't know if
you caught it or not. At the end of last hour,
Rich Davis broke some news CNR apparently are going to
be debuting on TV.

Speaker 4 (01:40:55):
Yeah. I accidentally said FS one.

Speaker 3 (01:40:57):
Did you hear that?

Speaker 4 (01:40:58):
Coming up?

Speaker 6 (01:41:00):
One?

Speaker 4 (01:41:01):
Cool? You know what?

Speaker 3 (01:41:01):
I put it out there? All coming up next giving
not Rich F's one. Let's see you know what I
put CAVI. You know you always taught me. You know
we've been together, as you know, co hosts and friends
for almost twenty years. Yeah, and you always say, put
it out there in the universe. Maybe it was maybe
next week all of a sudden, like, ah, we're gonna
simulcast your show. See yeah, man, Rich is manifesting here
on the radio. Love of Attraction. Throw it out there

(01:41:24):
to the universe. Well, listen, before we get to your
Ryan Garcia, Devin Haney. Big fight this week and I'll
back Kevinov. But there's a big fight. We talked about
the city connects Jerseys. We talked a little about the
NBA playing games tonight. There's an A Rod story I
want to get to. But I gotta ask you one
random question today. You know, there's always some random thing
like national whatever day, Today's National Garlic Day, And I

(01:41:49):
gotta ask, do you feel like every time you go
somewhere you always want to get the most garliky dish,
but you're insecure the rest of the day. No, I
love it and I lean into it and I don't
care anybody else. Yeah, because I love it enough to
not care. I'll house some garlic pasta dish at some
Italian reshot, But the rest of the day, for like

(01:42:10):
a day, I'm like, No, I stink And I saw it.

Speaker 1 (01:42:13):
It says twelve percent of Americans don't mind garlic breath.

Speaker 3 (01:42:17):
You know, it's interesting that you care that much, rich
because I saw that. I saw that Doug Gottlieb brought
some wings in today and that stinks up the studio
real nice. But not only did he leave you some wings,
he left you a little present in the studio. I
overheard it because I'm here in Idaho and I had

(01:42:37):
the headphones on. I heard a little something else he
left in the studio, and I don't know if it
smelled like garlic. I don't know if it smelled like
buffalo sauce. I don't know if it smelled like lemon pepper.
But I heard him say something like, yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:42:51):
Here's a little something extra for Rich Davis. I knew it.
I knew it.

Speaker 3 (01:42:58):
Yeah, So there you go, worrying about smelling like garlic.
Some people don't care at all. Wasn't there a dumb
story like someone was just convinced yesterday that some uh
some NFL guy or something during an interview at a
podium let one loose.

Speaker 4 (01:43:11):
And they're like, really, did he Trent Palky?

Speaker 3 (01:43:13):
Trent Palky, Yeah, Trent Stinky, Trent Stinky. But Sam Will
backed me up because I heard it on my headphone. Yeah, yeah, yeah, Doug.
Doug said he did that.

Speaker 4 (01:43:22):
And then I don't know if you guys actually noticed though,
but he was like, I didn't think they're going to
come in here this quickly. Oh you like garlic, lemon pepper?
What's going on.

Speaker 3 (01:43:34):
Anyway, there was a there was a story that Cavino
hit me up with, and I thought it was interesting
because it's a simple one. It's simple, but you and
I have always talked about the importance of the right
woman in your life and ladies, Scott wait, whatever your
preference is, the right woman or man in your life

(01:43:56):
makes all the difference. If you were with an awful woman,
she'll bring you down in every aspect of your life,
your career, personal life. Everything goes both ways.

Speaker 4 (01:44:05):
If you.

Speaker 3 (01:44:08):
Are with a great woman, she will support you and
encourage you and do all the right things. And you
got to do that back for the person in your life.
You have to be that same support. But you notice
some of your buddies when they're with the wrong person,
it really brings him down. Well, Alex Rodriguez, i'd say,

(01:44:28):
has done an amazing job of reinventing his public persona
right because he was a bit of a clumsy guy
on the field, even though he hit six hundred and
ninety six home runs. It was something about his demeanor,
the way he carried himself. It rubbed a lot of
people the wrong way. And that had something to do
with steroids and lying and all that other stuff. But

(01:44:49):
it seems like he's really likable now and he's doing
everything right as a broadcaster an analyst. Now you remember
he was with j Lo for a while and then
he dated around and now he's dating some other woman
by the name of Jacqueline Cordio Cordero Cordio, Jacqueline, and
she's a fitness instructor and apparently she's having an amazing influence.

(01:45:13):
If you read the New York Post today and all
the other articles about it, he's just on another level happy,
another level of success, and she has put him on
a health journey that cut him down thirty five pounds,
So talk about good influence. Like she's turned his life
around completely because he went from like, hey, that's a rod,

(01:45:36):
he's kind of chubbing now a little bit, to now
he's swelt and happy and bringing it on every level.
It's so obvious to thirty five pounds a lot. I mean,
that's a lot of weight. I like he was that overweight.
I look at it this way, Covino, what your partner
eats ends up being a reflection of how you eat

(01:45:58):
because you're with them all the time. You ever see
one of your buddies, So tough, dude. My girlfriend does
cookie reviews. You know how hard it is she brings
I'm not even joking right now, that sounds weird. She does.
She'll go to Crumbulls, She'll go to every cookie place
around and does reviews on social media. You know how
hard it is for me to avoid those when she
has them lying around the kitchen. You know, so when

(01:46:19):
I'm looking little chubby, you know, there's.

Speaker 4 (01:46:21):
A reason you gotta built an excuse.

Speaker 3 (01:46:23):
Those things are screaming my name every time I come home.
But I think we've all dated someone that was way
into fitness and eating clean and you're like, wow, you're
this girl's a hell of a good influence on me.
And then other times where you get comfy in a
relationship and every night it's like.

Speaker 4 (01:46:41):
I want to get Chick fil a, you want to
get pizza, I want.

Speaker 3 (01:46:44):
To get this, and you're like, I'm starting to get
at a little comfortable here. But Ayrod is a great
example of someone that career wise, fitness wise, this woman
is leaving a good impact, and I think, be fair,
sometimes it doesn't it's not an indicator that you're unhappy
in a relationship because my brother's super happy with his
current girlfriend and he's packing on the pounds. My brother

(01:47:04):
is I.

Speaker 4 (01:47:04):
Think you brought you sent me a picture.

Speaker 3 (01:47:06):
I thought it was George Lopez two twenty two, and
he's like, yo, I've never been this heavy in my life.

Speaker 4 (01:47:12):
Here.

Speaker 3 (01:47:13):
Well, he's like your brother's like five ten, you know,
because he's happy in a new relationship, and you get
a little lazy, little content, late night dinners, late night snacking,
lounging around like it just becomes a pattern, I guess,
in a new relationship. To me, let me throw this
at you, you know how Danny G Have you ever
heard the phrase?

Speaker 4 (01:47:32):
And I stand by this.

Speaker 3 (01:47:34):
A man is only as happy as the least happy
woman in his life.

Speaker 4 (01:47:40):
Ye have heard you say that before. It's true.

Speaker 3 (01:47:43):
Listen to that again. It could be your daughter, your wife,
or your mom. A man is only as happy.

Speaker 4 (01:47:49):
Pay attention.

Speaker 3 (01:47:51):
A man is only as happy as the least happy
woman in his life. So if your wife, your daughter,
your mom, if a woman in your life is unhappy
with the ex in there, if you have the co
parent ex wife, wife, daughter, girlfriend, mom, let me give
you another one sort of a parallel thought. If you're
living in a household, Danny g you got teenagers, you

(01:48:13):
got a newborn, you got all. I think you are
only as in shape as the least healthy eater in
your house. Because if someone in your house is bringing
in cookies, Totina, pizza rolls, crumb cakes and muffins like.

Speaker 4 (01:48:30):
You can't resist it. You just can't.

Speaker 3 (01:48:33):
So eight Rod has a good influence with his life,
and props to him, and props to him seriously, because
I thought that loss of of j Low to Ben
Asflex and oh Ben Affleck and no man, he found
someone that brought out the best in him, not only
mentally and professionally, but physically. And he looks great. And

(01:48:56):
for a guy that took a lot of heat from
a lot of people and again he brought it upon
himself in a lot of ways, you got to give
him props. What props would do. He's doing great as
a broadcaster and he's looking great. So thirty five pounds off,
that's the story in the news today, Alex Rodriguez, Well,
well that's not the story. The story is unfortunately this
Taylor Swift distrack. Yeah, I mean that is the dude

(01:49:17):
that was a huge the moment I woke up tonight.
Everywhere you look, even on sports sites, people are talking
about Taylor Swift dissing Kim Kardashian.

Speaker 4 (01:49:26):
So we'll we'll mention it in a little bit.

Speaker 3 (01:49:27):
But based on the a Rod thought of weight gain
weight loss being trim. I know everyone everyone's all. You
gotta give him props. Everyone's always on a mission. Danny,
g you've you've dropped some weight, You look great. You
you cut out what like sugar for the most part.

Speaker 1 (01:49:41):
Yeah, if it is above eight grams of sugar, I
don't go near it.

Speaker 3 (01:49:47):
So small adjustments. Yeah, and I'll be And you said
you cut out like soda, stuff like that, right, like
soft drinks.

Speaker 1 (01:49:52):
Yeah, maybe we'll have a soda every other day, but
it's a diet PEPSI. I had no regular sugar or
regular soda whatsoever.

Speaker 3 (01:49:59):
Anny. When Danny was at his worst, he would call
them sodies.

Speaker 6 (01:50:03):
No.

Speaker 1 (01:50:04):
I mean I literally do last year on our show.
I would go to the machine here and I would
grab a mountain de out of there every afternoon.

Speaker 4 (01:50:10):
Dude, because it can't do that anymore.

Speaker 3 (01:50:12):
Get hooked on the sugar, for sure is terrible for you.
You know, rich and I call him a big gulpers
sometimes because you get hooked on it and we have
big gulpers in our family, and it's like, damn, we
know it's not easy to make those adjustments. That's why
the A Rod story stood out so much. It's not
like he was that overweight. So for him to cut
down thirty five pounds at his age, you know that

(01:50:34):
his new lady is a great influence. Yeah, hey, listen,
if you're feeling chubby and you feel like you're not yourself,
just they like a fitness girl for a minute and
Jill straighten out tacky. But my other thought is real
quick and then we'll move on. I know, we want
to talk some Ryan Garcia, some fights this weekend, some NFL,
a lot of randough stuff to catch up on. But Cabino,

(01:50:56):
when you go to the doctor, because I know you
and I we go to the same general physician out
here in Los Angeles, Yeah, simple, not because we have
the same we don't you know what cot together And
at the same time, yeah, you know, you know why,
because it's called pure laziness. If Cavino and I find
a doctor, dentist, eye doctor, whatever it is, it's.

Speaker 4 (01:51:13):
Like, yo, who do you use?

Speaker 5 (01:51:15):
All right?

Speaker 3 (01:51:15):
Were covered? All right, I'll use the same person. That
chart of what you're supposed to weigh for your height,
the BMI is that? But is that? Yes?

Speaker 7 (01:51:24):
Is that?

Speaker 3 (01:51:24):
Is that based on like scrawny beachas dude? Because they
make it look like six foot, Oh yeah, you should
be one seventy What six foot guy is one seventy No,
it's it's dude, it's absurd. It's they're not accounting for
any sort of muscle. I can't be the only guy
that notices that you go to the doctor for your
physical and you see that little chart, it's like, oh,
you're five.

Speaker 4 (01:51:44):
Eleven, Oh you should be one sixty eight?

Speaker 3 (01:51:46):
What six two?

Speaker 7 (01:51:49):
Oh?

Speaker 11 (01:51:49):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (01:51:50):
What eighty something?

Speaker 3 (01:51:51):
I don't know how they expect people expect everyone to
be a little weenie string bean like I have. They
don't account for any sort of muscle at all. Oh
or tacos.

Speaker 4 (01:52:00):
That's that's the I've never lived in a weight in
my life chart.

Speaker 3 (01:52:05):
I'm pretty sure that's what it is. And again, I'm
five eleven and they have well, they have me down
at five eleven. Rich, I'm five and three fourth five
ten and three fourths five eleven and the doctor said
I should get down to one seventy five. You look sick,
That's what I'm saying. I'm like, dude, you want me

(01:52:25):
to get some matrophy going on here? You know, on
top of losing weight. That's way too thin, I think.
But you know, I'm sure there's healthy ways to do it,
but it seems impossible. Big stories today. The other one,
aside from all the Taylor Swift, Britney Mahomes, all that drama,
huge drama in Brooklyn, for the Hany Garcia fight, huge

(01:52:47):
drama show, as Triple G used to say, drama show
for real. First of all, the face off was out
of control, Rich. I don't know if you saw that.
But Hany's the Hanies, Bill and Devin. They're really leaning
into the Mexicans for Hany thing like bringing race into it, culture,
religion they both have. Ryan has said things about Hani's religion.

(01:53:10):
So it's like getting really ugly and we really don't
know if there's real hatred or they're selling a fight
or what, but it's causing a lot of drama. So
they're there with the Mexican flag saying that more Mexican
fans root for Hani and their work ethic more than Garcia,
and that's really sort of hit and blow the belt,
and Garcia has been unhinged completely on every possible level.

(01:53:33):
And then he said, Garcia said he's gonna kill the dad.
He's gonna kill Bill jan Yeah, he's gonna knock him out,
and like the whole thing is out of control. And
then you know, the wigh in, Garcia shows up three
point two pounds overweight, so one hundred and forty three
point two pounds over and they made a side bet

(01:53:55):
that for every pound Garcia shows shows up, oh, he'd
give him five hundred thousand dollars. So now he owes
Devin Haney one point five million dollars and as a result,
the WBC super lightweight belt is not up for grabs anymore.
There won't be a possible new champion even if Garcia wins,

(01:54:18):
which is lame as hell. And then Garcia went to
social media and interviews afterward and said, you know, why
would I force to make weight at one forty so
I could be weak. I'm here to win, that's it.
And he went on and said he had his family
to feed. It's not about belts anymore. It's about winning
and winning money and and feeding his family. But I'm

(01:54:39):
telling you there's a lot of fans.

Speaker 4 (01:54:41):
Rich.

Speaker 3 (01:54:42):
I know you're just excited the fights hapend, I tell you,
but there's a lot of fans that are like, if
there's no belt up the grabs, I mean, loses its excitement.
It would mean something if there were one belts for
each division, but as you know, in boxing, there's like
five plus belts.

Speaker 4 (01:54:56):
For each division. Different. What is it down?

Speaker 3 (01:54:58):
I go, so to me, it's like if it was
one unified guy and all the belts are on the line,
that would be one thing.

Speaker 4 (01:55:06):
But it's not.

Speaker 3 (01:55:06):
And you know what I looked at immediately when I
heard this news, I wondered if the odds had changed,
Like if a heavier not trimmed down Ryan Garcia might
tighten those odds up a little bit, Like, oh, if
he comes in a little heavier, maybe advantage Though, Ryan Garcia,
here's the thing. Do we think because he seems to

(01:55:28):
be unhinged and undisciplined throughout this whole thing, or it's
just an act that we don't know. Do you think
that he came in heavier so that he had that
advantage or do you think his lack of discipline, maybe
staying out late, maybe too many tacos? Well, you said
it too much, drink it. Maybe that's why he didn't
make the way. You just said that he's a little unhinged.

Speaker 4 (01:55:49):
But you said that.

Speaker 3 (01:55:50):
Ryan Garcia himself said I'm not gonna come in all emaciated.
I mean what he said. But you know, who knows
what to believe with this? Well, what I'm saying is
Vegas taking the bait. Okay, Devin Haney is still if anything,
the odds are minus eight hundred, like Haney is a
significant favorite. So I thought, maybe Garcia comes in three

(01:56:12):
pounds overweight. They're like, ooh, advantage Garcia because he didn't
have to get too frail like he you know, he
didn't get too frail. It's only three pounds, but still, dude,
it's not three pounds. He sacrificed one point five million
dollars and a chance to win the bill, you know.
And it does for a real fan, it does make
you think, oh, he's not taking this yet. Let me
let me ask you, let me ask you boxing politics.

(01:56:36):
I still think Hane wins this fight. I'm not betting.
I think the odds are it's not doing anything for me,
you know, like I told you, the only odds for
the fun of it might be if you think Ryan
Garcia could knock out Haney just for the hell of it,
for the smell of it, or what Hane said was,
it's not going to be an easy fight because Garcia's
got power and he's fast and good he always but
but I'm gonna make it look he's you're the you're

(01:56:57):
the first got to say. Ryan Garcia's got fast hands
and he's got some pop. Ryan Garcia by knockout is
plus fifteen hundred, which might be the only bet that's
worthy of. Like, yeah, I'll throw twenty five bucks, nothing big,
just for a little excitement on the fight. But Garcia
is a big underdog. But I do wonder if he does,
as a long shot, find a way to win, because

(01:57:19):
he comes in a little beefier, a little more you know,
a little more weight behind that punch does from a
political standpoint, from the boxing politics, I'm shures with rematch clause,
which means there's money to be made in a rematch
if Ryan Garcia won. But I just can't see him winning. Man,
that's a tough fight for him. It's a very tough
fight when you got a kid is disciplined and is

(01:57:41):
hungry and with so much to prove, like Devin Haney does,
and he brings that work ethic. Kove, do you have
handy the tail of the tape, because I know you
did the other day and it was very like their height, weight, reach,
everything was so pretty on the money, So yeah, I
got it. It's they're both twenty five years old. But remember, guys,

(01:58:03):
they've been even their whole life, right they fight. They
fought in the amateur ranks and they're like three right,
three three and three. Since they were kids, like ten
years old, they've been fighting each other, right, Uh, they're
both five eight actually, Garcia's five eight and a half.
HAINI got him on the reach seventy one inches to
seventy inches. Still thirty one, and oh his biggest win

(01:58:24):
is that Lon much that very controversial Loma Chank go win.
But still I mean to see Haine fight with guys
on that level and win. It's still big. He's thirty
one and oh, Ryan Garcia twenty four and one. He
lost to Tank Davis. A lot of people said he quit,
but he was hurt, and we were at that fact
when remember when Tank hit him and Ryan Garcia the

(01:58:44):
body shot was just too much. Yeah, but besides that.

Speaker 4 (01:58:48):
It didn't look like a lot in person. Remember, no,
it didn't.

Speaker 3 (01:58:51):
But when you when you watch, you like yo, he
just sometimes a body shot could get you know, Cavino Haci.

Speaker 4 (01:58:56):
Got fifteen knockouts and Garcia has twenty nine.

Speaker 3 (01:58:58):
I was gonna say, of Garcia's twenty four victories, twenty
are by knockout. He has a pretty high knockout percentage.
So again, I'm no boxing expert. I'm though Steve Cavino, I'm.

Speaker 4 (01:59:07):
No uh Ariel Hawani.

Speaker 3 (01:59:10):
Your boys Brock and Barack are our buddies from his own.

Speaker 4 (01:59:15):
But I do love boxing, not as much as you.

Speaker 3 (01:59:18):
But I think if you want to make a fun
bet on this fight, the only fun bet, because the
odds are they're not favoring like a fun bet to
make unless you say Garcia by knockout, the odds would
be astronomical. It's not even who you got at this point.
It's like, are you less excited now that the belt's
not up for grabs? Because I feel like some people
are really bummed about that, and then other people like

(01:59:40):
who cares?

Speaker 4 (01:59:41):
Don't don't say it?

Speaker 3 (01:59:41):
Sou's exciting if you want to watch that in Potato
Town because you got might have some plans to attend
to I update there, and I'm visiting my girlfriend's family
for her birthday. I'm in Idaho this weekend. And if
you missed the conversation the other day, Cavino iss trying
to figure a way to tell his girlfriend and her
family that they should all watch the fight to together
tomorrow night. I think what.

Speaker 4 (02:00:03):
We're not going to revolve a whole night because I'm
only here for two days.

Speaker 3 (02:00:07):
Well, I told you I thought it was worse that
if you broke your phone out at a nice restaurant.
That's what you know what? My girlfriend suggested that that's
what I do for that particular fight, because to be
quite honest, I don't care about the card, you know,
I care about this fight. Okay, So I'll just bust
it out, you know, wherever we're at, and I'll watch
it on my phone, or if I'm at her dad's house,
I'll just have it on there. So I don't have

(02:00:28):
actual plans yet, but I'm not gonna miss the fight
for sure, but again today's controversy. Controversy is that there's
no belt up for grabs and that Garcia comes in overweight.
So it's a wild fight. Man, I don't know what
to expect, but they've done a great job promoting it. Well,
I'll tell you what, if you're a casual boxing fan,

(02:00:50):
I'll back Cavino up because there's a lot of times
Cavino's like, yo, bro, fight this weekend and I'm like, dude,
stop and no one cares. This is one to care
about Ryan Garcia. Garcia's pulled some straight up Mike Tyson antics.
The thing is he's not as intimidating and he's not
as a household name as a Mike Tyson, but he's
pulling Tyson antics. He's been off the wall Michael Jackson's style.

(02:01:13):
You know, that's really wild to see. You know that
really awkward girl on social media, what's the name? All
tof Bobby? Bobby all tof the girl that remember she
did the bit with Drake laying in bed and like
the very awkward funny. She has a dry sense of humor.
She was on Ryan Garcia's I Guess podcast or whatever
he's doing. Video stream and Ryan Garcia. I don't know

(02:01:36):
if he was playing, but he comes across.

Speaker 4 (02:01:38):
Like cuckoo's nest, cuckoo's nest.

Speaker 3 (02:01:40):
And it makes you, honestly, it makes you appreciate Devin
Haney even warn guy took off his shirt and he's like,
what do you think of my abs?

Speaker 4 (02:01:46):
And she's like nice?

Speaker 3 (02:01:47):
And then then he weird. He had his lapel mic
and he's like, where should I put it? He tried
to attach it to his nipple. Like the guy's lost
in a little bit.

Speaker 4 (02:01:55):
Yeah, I know completely, Yeah, or is he just selling
a fight?

Speaker 3 (02:01:58):
We don't know. So that's the update there. And you know,
I don't know if you're gonna get it, but it'll
be you know. I'll tell you more about it on weekend.

Speaker 4 (02:02:05):
Hobnaben.

Speaker 3 (02:02:06):
Okay, so we'll go for some weekend hob nobin. What
to watch this weekend? What else is going on? I'll
tell you what's going on. Dodgers, Mets, and the Mets
are going to light up. Ya'm a moto tonight, Danny
g We'll oh tonight.

Speaker 4 (02:02:19):
That's for his nasty curve.
