Let's keep rocking out. Thank you. I got to give

(01:06):
a shout out to Rob, one of our listeners and
friends in San Antonio. He did remind me, said, at
the beginning of this past college football season, he goes
keep an eye on Panix. He's going to be great
for someone. And he said every week he hit us
up saying, did you watch Penis? Did you watch Panics?
And you know what, clearly a wanted man, so much

(01:28):
so that a team that had a veteran, four year,
one hundred and eighty million dollar contract tie up. But
Kirk Cousins still said, we gotta take him. And that's
the story right now.

Speaker 3 (01:40):
I'm happy that we had him in weekend Hobnobby And
at the start of the college football season, yeah, I said,
watch out for this dude in the Heisman Trophy. I
remember that, yeah, because I remember just being amazed at
first of all, he throws the ball like nobody else.
We talked about that, that elbow and just his command.
I remember after a big win, him with his family

(02:03):
and just there was something about him that stood out
right at the beginning of the college football season, and
you know, he was one of the guys too. A
lot of people were rooting for Rich because he had
come off those injuries, Yeah, and had to really rebound.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
Get a crazy path to where he is and Danny,
you know you would think, and a lot of injuries. Yeah,
so maybe this gives him a little bit of rest.
N he gave him some wear and tear. I don't know. Listen, well,
he's gonna have to sit back a few years. Well,
look at it this way, Danny.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
I would never usually care about a team other than
my own, but because we're tight and we're hanging out
every day and Danny's our good friend. The way you
watch Penix this past year and he was a possibility
for your Raiders, it sort of bums me up because
I feel like it made sense for Danny to get
the guy he watched in college on his Raiders and
see what he could do. But I guess you got

(02:54):
to turn your attention to Minshew being.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
Like the man.

Speaker 4 (02:58):
Jason Stewart brought this point to me. I think we're
gonna see Michael PENNICKX playing this year.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
There.

Speaker 4 (03:05):
I think it was a record set last year of
like six sixty three quarterbacks played in a game last
year in the NFL. Kirk Cousins is not healthy and
what if he has to miss a couple games. You're
gonna see Michael Pennix sooner than you think, because, yeah,
because he's getting overned backup.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
Quarterbacks are so necessary. I think the thought process was
something along the lines of, you got to get them
now while you can, because by the time they need
another quarterback, it's going to be harder to get a
quality quarterback in the drill. That's optimistic. The Falcons mindset
is that's how they're spinning it a little bit.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
The spin zone, spin zone. The spin zone for the
Falcons is we're gonna be so good for the coming
years that when you're so good, you're never in a
position to draft that guy. Yeah, we're in a position
now to get that guy. Like look at teams like
the Chiefs, the Niners, the Eagles, Cowboys. Teams that continues

(04:00):
win ten plus games, they're never gonna be in a position.

Speaker 1 (04:03):
The only downside I really see is to not let
your starting quarterback that you invested so much money in
one hundred million, guaranteed one hundred and eighty for four years,
to not let him in on what they were doing
is just a bad look overall, and I believe it.
I would imagine it rubbed kirk Cousins the wrong way
when he's publicly saying I had no idea, and he

(04:25):
was publicly stunned, and he found out when everybody else
found out. So you know, I think had the letter
where they dropped it.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
You know, Kovino, he had to let it marinate, yeah,
for a little bit before he was okay with it,
and then got Panix on the phone.

Speaker 5 (04:38):
Dan Byer, Yeah, I just I I understand where you
guys are all coming from, but throw this scenario in.
Let's just say, yeah, kirk Cousins maybe doesn't get injured,
but maybe he isn't playing as well, maybe not the
Kirk Cousins of all pah Nicks.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
And then you're sad And is that there to Kirk
Cousins or is it good for the organization? Does it
let fire up of under Cousins ass? I mean, we
watched him on quarterback. He works good problems for the team.
I imagine you would think that's the case.

Speaker 5 (05:08):
But then when you have the dead cap amount that
you would have because of the contract that you signed.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
If Pennix is the guy, then you're it's like the
Russell Wilson deal in Denver where you're just paying for nothing.

Speaker 5 (05:19):
I get the trying to find the silver lining or
trying to figure out the plan. I just there there
are so many trap doors when you're laying out those things.
It's just to me, it still doesn't make a lot
of side which I.

Speaker 3 (05:32):
See a scenario where the crowd could be chanting panics
at the first Falcons home game, even if Cousins isn't
playing horrible.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
Now, I love the video of Arthur Blank looking confused
and and the GM of the Falcons with all this
hand motions to get like and you're like, I want
to know what they're saying, Like he's explaining because Arthur
Blank looks like, whoa, what did you?

Speaker 1 (05:53):
What did you guys do?

Speaker 2 (05:55):
And he's doing all he's like, well, you know it
made no sense because dB, I mean you, Danny J.
Everyone knows that you get Cousins. This team's in the
division that's up for the taking. You have the ability
to add a young wide receiver, a good young wide receiver.
You could have got Rock Bowers if you wanted to
go the tight end route. They have a tight end,

(06:15):
but you could.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
Have run yeah, yeah, you could have boosted up the
offensive line, if that's what you want to do. But
to get a quarterback with pick eight was like, huh,
major story yesterday, your thoughts, your feedback. We made lots
of observations. I felt like Tim Allen eight seven seven

(06:39):
again at Kofino and Rich you know it all.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
I can only think of one thing, dB. I know
I'm trying to I'm a silver lining type of guy.
I try to think of the positive, and I know
that things always work out not the way we plan,
whether it's career, whether it's relationships, marriages, family, you know,
you know, s happens, Crap happens. And two of my
favorite things, the fact that I lived the dad life

(07:05):
and I lived the sports life, they intersected because two
of the things I've watched over the last year of
my life both had the same fable that I love.
And that's the story of the Chinese Farmer. And that
was brought up not only in Tom Brady's docuseries Man
in the Arena, it was brought up in that extended

(07:25):
Blue episode that all moms and dad's watched, and it
has to do with maybe.

Speaker 3 (07:30):
So the story of Chinese Farmer is there was a
man in a village and he had a horse, and
the horse ran away, and all the people in the
village came to him and said, we're so sorry.

Speaker 1 (07:39):
I can't believe your horse ran away. And he has
comment back was as well, maybe everything will work out
the way it's supposed to you. Everything's supposed to work
out the way it's supposed to Bluie and Tom Brady
both tackled this subject of life has twist and turns.
Tom Brady, it was always man, that's really tough, Tom.

(08:01):
Maybe because maybe there's maybe that happened for the next
thing to happen. Maybe the falcons come out on topic
him like Landy Pofo, Geniuses like Iowa Sam said, you
don't know how healthy. You don't know Cousins comes back
next year, you know how banged up he is. You
don't know what could happen. And then next thing, you know,
Hey they got Penix and it looks like, wow, look

(08:23):
how smart they are. Tell me listen.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
Percentage wise, I think it favors. It's a weird, a
weird move that no one gets. But there is that
slight chance of like this could be a genius move.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
We just don't know. I will completely shut up if
you want me to. Oh, I love it.

Speaker 5 (08:37):
The point is is, if you have all the questions
that Cavino had about Kirk Cousins, why did you sign
him to the deal in the first place? And not
only that he was one of the first signings in
free agency. It was a done deal. We had found
out kirk Cousins, his wife was looking at schools in
Atlanta a week before you could even sign free agents.

(08:59):
That was a done deal. The Falcons didn't do anything
in this draft aside from pick where they were. It
wasn't like Penix fell to them at you know eight.
He was there at eight, so they took him there,
and it just it doesn't It doesn't make a lot
of sense, no matter how you try to twist it
one way or another way.

Speaker 1 (09:19):
We're trying to figure out, like, how does this make about.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
Put yourself in the dB mindset at you know, five
fifty yesterday.

Speaker 1 (09:29):
He's a local time YEP.

Speaker 2 (09:30):
When they chose Pennix, were you thinking there'd be some
type of immediate trade Like when they picked Penix, I'm like, oh,
is this like a bigger move?

Speaker 6 (09:39):
Like?

Speaker 1 (09:39):
And then they like like a.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
Draft trade like that was my first thought like, Oh,
that's what they'll do. They're getting something from someone like
maybe DeVante Adams and the Raiders.

Speaker 1 (09:49):
Like I was thinking, something was in the mix. You
see that in the NBA a lot.

Speaker 5 (09:53):
Yeah, not as much in the NFL, and that's why
it was so so jarring. But to that point, yeah,
can totally see how that would come into someone's mind
because of just how much it didn't make sense.

Speaker 2 (10:04):
All I thought was, Ooh, who do they want? Do
they want Judy? Do they want Devanta Adams? I'm like,
den are they trying to Did they take Panics to
then do a deal with the Broncos or Raiders?

Speaker 1 (10:16):
Was my first thought. And then when nothing happened, I
was like, oh, what is going on here? But again,
we've seen quarterbacks start immediately out of college and after
a year or so, Allah, Zach Wilson, Mac Jones, Treye Lance,
guys that are just they're done already. And then you

(10:38):
see Jordan Love who sat around for a couple of
years and now he's maybe a little more mature and
got his chance. I don't know if that's a new template.

Speaker 2 (10:45):
And they're saying, hey, listen, we gave cousins four but
we're really banking on two. And if we bank on two,
eat some cap space and money. Maybe in two years panis.

Speaker 1 (10:55):
Is the guy? I don't know? It could be three
plus I know. And that's a good song. Okay, handing
it over to the guy we don't know. I don't know.
And by the way, Rich, you know, this is all
great speculation, but you got us on the edge of
our seat. How much longer did you stay at the
barbershop because you said this happened and your haircut was
done already.

Speaker 2 (11:12):
Oh no, I told I told you. I did a
whole move where I was like, I don't want to
look at my phone. I told my wife turn on
the NFL draft and pause it. So you just went
home and watched the rest of it? Yeah, you said,
pause like Joe Biden.

Speaker 1 (11:23):
Four more ears? Pause? Oh sorry, anyway, that's just that happened.
Don't get all politically angry at me. It was just
a funny story.

Speaker 3 (11:33):
So if you bring up hours now, Rich, that's surprised
some people because tight end wasn't a need for the Raiders.
The Raiders of old would always reach for need players. Suddenly,
now with Tom Telesco, they take the best player on
the board.

Speaker 2 (11:48):
I think that's what they did, because I've heard others
speculate that, like the Raiders were also thrown off by this.
And then at this point you're like, well, did we
just take the best player.

Speaker 1 (11:57):
On the on the board. That's you know, that ideology,
like best player, think the best player.

Speaker 3 (12:01):
And I mean, obviously they can run some nice two
tight end sets with Michael Mayer.

Speaker 1 (12:06):
I'm not mad.

Speaker 3 (12:07):
I mean, he's like the most decorated tight end in
college football history. You saying maybe, and like, try to
spin it positive. I think me and the half of
Raider fans you try to look at the glass half full.
We're like, Okay, this gives Minshew a season to show
if he's the guy.

Speaker 1 (12:23):
Yeah, hey, listen, maybe I'm just listen. Maybe.

Speaker 2 (12:26):
I'm a big Blue fan and I'm a big fan
of sports documentary. So it came in my mind that
Tom Brady and Bluie have both discussed the maybe theory.

Speaker 1 (12:36):
Speaking of documentaries, We're gonna tell you what you need
to watch this weekend on Weekend Hobnobbing later this hour.
There is a new documentary out and I'm gonna tell
you about it. But now your phone calls to wrap
up all this draft talk eight seven, seven ninety nine
on Fox again at Covino and Rich always new videos,
new clips, and all your feedback there. I want to
start with Steve. Yeah, you know, what's up Steve? Steve Hey,

(12:59):
love you guys the show. Thank you man.

Speaker 7 (13:01):
I'm glad you kept me on hold a in Eugene.
Your shows from like one to three and then it
goes to it.

Speaker 8 (13:09):
It doesn't go to the whole three hours.

Speaker 1 (13:12):
Well we're two or two hours, so hey, maybe you
get one of the two here we are. What's up, Steve, Hey.

Speaker 7 (13:17):
As you were talking about the draft, I was just
thinking to begin with when Eminem came out, not to
make it a halftime show an hour and a half,
you know, worth of waist, but.

Speaker 8 (13:29):
Come out and get those that crowd going with one
of the songs.

Speaker 7 (13:32):
You know.

Speaker 2 (13:32):
Oh, I mean, if you don't think that's the next step,
you're right. Why not add a why not add an
a list performer to the NFL draft?

Speaker 7 (13:39):
That's next?

Speaker 2 (13:39):
If you don't think it is, I'm sure someone's already
thought of that, Like, oh, Eminem, what if you did
lose yourself and.

Speaker 1 (13:45):
That's a relationship that benefits both, especially eminem but it
is wild.

Speaker 2 (13:50):
I was talking to some of the young editors, Breebrie
and Patrick and Bursch and some of the guys, and
we were just saying, how I said, you, if you
haven't watched watch it. I know you got They were
you know, some of the young people around who were
born I'm talking about Bluie No that they were born
like a you know, late nineties, two thousands. I said,
go back and watch the thirty for thirty from Lway

(14:11):
to Marino. Yeah, and you'll just get an idea of
like how crazy the draft has always been, but how
low key it was compared to the big production it
is now. But that documentary is a must watch if
you get if you've never seen so low key looks.

Speaker 1 (14:28):
Like you remember when you remember that scene in Rocky
where Apollo is there and he's trying to figure out
who's gonna fight next, and he's in that weak ass office. Yeah,
that's I mean, that's a random auto comparison, but that's
what it used to look like.

Speaker 3 (14:42):
You were talking about the editors yesterday afternoon for the
beginning of the Draft, it was just the biggest football
party in here. With wings and everybody running around. The
coverage in the studio there was really good. And then
you would just hear the different studios like go up
with applause and people shouting at the TV about the
player's picked.

Speaker 1 (15:02):
It was a really cool app I.

Speaker 2 (15:03):
Will say it was very cool what I thought the
coolest thing here at Fox Sports Radio yesterday because you know,
I think you could say this place has finally sort
of got life again because COVID sort of ruined so
many places.

Speaker 1 (15:14):
For like a good year or so. I mean the
energy here. We came back here to Fox Sports. Right
when we first started, it was like a ghost town almost.
We're like the only live show. Yeah, We're like who
else works here? And you know what, it was very
cool yesterday. I was years ago back to see everyone.

Speaker 2 (15:28):
I like, Patrick had a Seahawks jersey on add my
Niners gear, Danny had his Raiders gear. Everyone here was
representing their team and that was a cool feeling.

Speaker 1 (15:38):
It was very cool, and we gave you extensive coverage
all day on Fox Sports Radio. I hope you enjoyed it.
And today, but now we go to the phones again.
Robb Robin in Oregon, you're on the Cavino and Rich show,
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 7 (15:53):
Robin, Hey, guys, Man, I love you guys. You guys
killed me every day.

Speaker 1 (15:57):
Thank you brother. What's up?

Speaker 7 (15:58):
Man? Hey man, you were talking about fantasy football a
while back in the episode, and I just wanted to
say that we started ours in nineteen eighty seven.

Speaker 1 (16:07):
Wow, you were early, because that was that was the
you know, anything anything pre internet. I'm thinking like guys
just writing stuff down with pens and papers.

Speaker 9 (16:16):
You know.

Speaker 7 (16:16):
Oh man, Yeah, no, we had. There was a beer
company I worked for that presented it to put it
into bars and taverns for whatever, promoted their stuff, and
I was like, wow, this is kind of cool. So
I got on board with it. And then yeah, we
were we like every Monday morning man to the Oregonian Paper,
you go.

Speaker 2 (16:34):
That was our bible for you would have you know why,
because you would have to I mean this this might
be obvious to some, but for younger listeners. You look
at your fantasy football results and it's right there on
your app or whatever you're using in reason that time
back then, you'd have to be like, all right, Tim
Brown had ninety yards ten receptions.

Speaker 1 (16:53):
That's fun. You'd have to do the math, and then
you'd have to go to your league and have to
be like, is my math right?

Speaker 7 (16:58):
Wow, that's it and your buddy's mouth too, and then
call him and go, hey man, what'd you come up with? Right?

Speaker 8 (17:05):
Yeah, well there's a little bit of a step and see.

Speaker 1 (17:08):
Yeah, break out the calendar. Thank you, Rober. We've see
how far that's come since eighty seven, since the late eighties.
That's incredible, man, That's what we were talking about earlier.
How far the draft has come, how big it is now?
What was that baseball game? Was like statamatic? Yeah, that
was the most complixt Did you ever stratamatic? It was
one of the most complicated board games where you're writing
stuff down and it's all about baseball statistics. Yeah, I

(17:32):
absolutely remember that. That's where we're sport. Everything has come
so far, Hey, Rich, we'll take some more phone calls.
Eight seven seven ninety nine, ol Fox And before we
get into you know, Lakers and other nonsense weekend hob knobbing,
Dan Byer showed me a funny story. I missed this somehow.
With all the NFL Draft and the NBA playoffs, all
the stuff that's going on, I'm watching my Yankees. I

(17:54):
don't know how I missed this. The Panthers owner David
Temper was cruising around the streets of Charlotte. Did you
see this or no? No? But I saw the owner's
son in Jacksonville wearing a neck brace really playing up
his aw wrestling appearance. Did you see that? No? But
listen to this stupid story talk about like pettiness and

(18:16):
I don't know, fragile ego maybe so David Tepper's and Charlotte.
Just driving around, he passes a restaurant called the Dilworth
Neighborhood Grill or something like that, right, and they had
one of those signs, like over a billion served. They
have one of those signs where you just yeah, write
stuff on it. It says, please let the coach and

(18:38):
the GM pick this year. And you believe it aggravated
the owner of the Panthers so much he went in
there to like cause us think about it, like hey, yeah,
and his video of it and everything home. I couldn't
you know what Dan was telling me. I couldn't believe it.
I'm like, oh, you would think that he's so important
that he wouldn't give a dead ley squad about something

(18:59):
so silly like that, and you see him talking people,
you see him talking regular workers, and they're like, you
can't hear it, at least in the clip that I saw,
you couldn't hear it. You just saw the video. Hey dude,
I'm just dude, I'm just a busboy, right, you gotta
see it.

Speaker 5 (19:14):
Surely the kid was wearing his hat and temper on
the security footage. Grabs the kid's hat and takes it
off and puts it on the the you know, the
little the little table that you have where you Greek
guests look the stand, no hats indoors.

Speaker 1 (19:30):
With all the important stuff going on, I just didn't
want to miss out on this funny little side story.
I just couldn't believe that he would waste his time
when so much going on in the NFL, to reprimand
and cause a stink and a stir about something so
silly and petty.

Speaker 5 (19:46):
Do you think he cruises around the Charlotte area on
Saturdays taking down signs from churches switch switch to service, right?
You know, very churches are usually the best with those
right with the puns in the playoff words.

Speaker 1 (20:02):
But yeah, this was crazy.

Speaker 4 (20:03):
He's the rest the hothead of the NFL owners. Yes, wow,
why they've can David Temper. Yeah, yes, good one.

Speaker 1 (20:11):
And by the way, you got to look up the
footage if you think we're making it up, because Dan
showed me and then I looked it up. Man, I
missed it. So well, let me add one more thing.

Speaker 2 (20:19):
You were talking about how far not only fantasy sports
have come, but well, you know, obviously we're talking about
how the draft went from a couple of guys smoking
cigarettes with brown beige phones in the seventies and eighties too,
to a ridiculous, awesome AI production with interviews and hundreds
of thousands of people and you know, a spectacle that
millions watch. And you got to you gott to credit
the NFL for making the NFL Draft probably pulling higher

(20:43):
ratings than NBA or NHL playoffs yesterday.

Speaker 1 (20:47):
I didn't hear those numbers yet, but they have to
come out. Yeah, yeah, I can only imagine.

Speaker 2 (20:51):
With that said, you know, I want to credit a
guy that that we become pals with over the years.
I'll name drop, but John Taffer bar Rescue if you've
ever seen that show, he's one of the people responsible
for bringing Sunday Ticket into the mix. He's talked to
us about how you know, he had talked to the
NFL back in the day, and he for some reason,

(21:13):
it just dawned on him, like, Eah, all these out
of town fans, how do we not have something where
they could watch the games and think about how that
revolutionized things. You would only get to see the primetime
teams if it was Monday night football, because that's been
Sunday night football, as we discussed, existed in the form
of like like a cable ESPN game. Not as many

(21:33):
people watch, change everything, but it changed it all. So, Hey,
NFL is king. I think we've proved that all right. Now,
coming up, I do want to talk a little Lakers
and whether or not the attitudes there, and listen, I'm
not going to focus on the team that's on its
way out of the playoffs, because there's plenty of teams
that are playing great that are in the mix. But
we'll talk some NBA and get this a fun fact

(21:56):
that I guarantee you don't know about.

Speaker 1 (21:59):
My child, man Randy Savage.

Speaker 2 (22:03):
I promise you don't know this one, really, So a
fun fact about a legend, Macho Man, the late great
Macho Man, plus we'll talk some MBA and get you
into the weekend here coven On Rich on Fox Sports Radio.

CNR on FSR later this hour weekend hobnobbing. What you
need to watch in the world of sports and entertainment
and what you need to watch right now is this
video again. It's going under the radar, at least to me.
I watched it, and in my circle, I would have
slapped this guy in the face. And I'm not a
violent guy. The owner of the Panthers, he's offended that

(25:22):
a Charlotte restaurant had a sign out front that said,
let the GM and coach make the picks. Yes, a
neighborhood grill. David Tepper walks in there. The owner walks
into this little local restaurant and then you know what
he does. Dan Byer mentioned it, but you gotta see it.
I couldn't have. I can't imagine this kid being cool
with that. Here's a woman and a young man there like,

(25:43):
oh my god, you're the owner of the panthers are
and he takes the kid's hat off his head. Honestly,
which is right? You take my hat off, and I
don't know you. You might get an elbow to the note.
You might imagine. Imagine Comino, you have your Yankees hat
on right now and someone I don't jim you and
I went to go grab a drink after the show,
right and some guy at a restaurant walks up to

(26:05):
and he like, hey you, and he grabs your hat
off your head. Ooh man, yo, doesn't that's fighting words,
Danny you know? Can you imagine someone to do it?
Doing that to like a Danny G type him when
his hat off, Danny G rolls up with his Bretta
Hitman heart sunglasses and a Raiders hat day two of
the draft, and some guys like, yo, what you're doing?

(26:27):
Slap slap slap? Look that up in the meantime, But
let's talk Danny G's Lakers man.

Speaker 2 (26:35):
But I have to pay off my h I can't
tease things and not give you the answer with the
macho man. Oh okay, there's a macho man fun fact
that I saw on TikTok.

Speaker 1 (26:45):
Now I did see part of this. I saw it
on TikTok. It must be true.

Speaker 2 (26:48):
Well, if I saw on TikTok, I might only have
two hundred days left. I saw this, but it was
also part of a macho man documentary I saw back
in the day.

Speaker 1 (26:56):
But I know that you've never seen this. We know
that macho man Randy Savage, Randy Poffo almost made it
to the pros and baseball. We know that the fun
fact is that there's a baseball card because he was
part of the Cardinals organization. But did you know the
hole full fact?

Speaker 6 (27:13):
Baseball was the first to endeavor that I encountered, and
I did it rather well.

Speaker 1 (27:20):
I did it rather well, I have.

Speaker 6 (27:22):
To admit myself. I started out in nineteen seventy one
Saint Louis Cardinals because I was a switch hitter and
a switch thrower.

Speaker 1 (27:31):
That means I.

Speaker 6 (27:32):
Could hit and throw with both arms, which no other Rostler.

Speaker 1 (27:38):
No other baseball player, no other hockey player.

Speaker 6 (27:42):
Northern football player, no other nothing couldn't do with an
athletic background.

Speaker 1 (27:46):
Like Dan who Yeah, macho man not only was a
switch hitter, he was one of those guys I could
throw with both hands. That's amazing, macho man. That's why
he's the macho Oh yeah, I was saying, by the way,
that wasn't macho man, that was comedian Dan Soder with
the impression right there. But that was awesome. I don't

(28:07):
think I I don't know. I play mental gymnastics, and
I convinced myself that I knew that, But I don't
think I.

Speaker 2 (28:11):
Did you do that he was a baseball guys, of course,
but did you know? You didn't know he's a switch
hitter and a guy that was MBDS. Yeah, No, I
didn't know that he could throw with both arms. And
everybody knows that he's the brother of Lanny Pofo, who
passed away this year.

Speaker 1 (28:27):
Yeah, leaping Lanny po. Yeah, and we also know that
he always snapped into it.

Speaker 2 (28:32):
All right, let's go to mic in textas take a
quick phone call about the NFL draft, and then we
will talk a little NBA, get a damn buy update,
get into the weekend.

Speaker 1 (28:40):
What's up, Mikey, Hey, what's going on?

Speaker 5 (28:43):
Guys?

Speaker 1 (28:43):
What's you know?

Speaker 7 (28:45):
I know everybody's doing crazy with the panics, but I
got two examples of how it works, and they came out.

Speaker 8 (28:55):
And said they're doing it.

Speaker 7 (28:56):
The Green Bay Way man, how did that thing? Kandas
City workout drafting a guy who was never a pocket passer.

Speaker 8 (29:04):
Came out pretty good. Yo.

Speaker 2 (29:05):
There's there's the audio of I'm sure like a Rich
Eisen or someone that you know, respectable broadcaster that said, well,
it's you.

Speaker 1 (29:13):
Heard this clip the other day.

Speaker 2 (29:14):
We played it on over Promised our bonus podcast, where
Rich Eisen goes whoa, wow, whoa instead of Deshaun Watson
in fact, h well, well, you know it's Alex Smith's
job as long as he wants to make sure.

Speaker 1 (29:26):
If you listen closely, I think it was a Joey
Lawrence that dropped them. Whoa. I think it was. It
was yeah, right like if you listen. No. But again,
we did play this the reactions, the you know, looking back,
crazy reactions to these picks. It's not over promised on
Fox Sports Radio's YouTube page our bonus podcast. Definitely check
it out.

Speaker 2 (29:45):
We played some fun, weird moments from drafts past, but uh,
very much like coman you and I off. They were
saying much how the Green Bay Packers kept Aaron Rodgers
a little too much in the dark on some of
their decisions. That was probably a weird first impression because
he is new to Atlanta, A weird first impression for
Kirk Cousins where he.

Speaker 1 (30:05):
Is like, wait, what are you guys doing him? Your guy?
How am I not in on this a little bit?
Or just that not even in on it? How about
just a heads up? That's just courtesy. That's a courtesy
heads up, Like Danny g this morning goes.

Speaker 2 (30:17):
That would be like when Fox hired you guys and
then all of a sudden started training the guys that
would take over for.

Speaker 1 (30:22):
You one night. Yeah, it's like, whoa just a heads up?
Oh wait a minute.

Speaker 3 (30:27):
Yeah, because he hasn't taken a snap. I think that's
the difference here. And I was talking with Mike off
the air about it. I should look, I get that comparison,
and I hope Pennix Junior does turn out to be
like Mahomes. But half these quarterbacks in the draft don't
work out. And also one hundred million dollars for the
quarterback they just signed who hasn't taken a snap for
them yet. That's the difference here.

Speaker 2 (30:48):
Oh oh, ooh ooh, I just got way too excited
about my dumb point. Ooh ooh, there's one other layer here.
And dB correct me if I'm wrong. Dan Byer always
the smartest guy in the room. In my mind, he
could be fooling me.

Speaker 1 (31:00):
dB.

Speaker 2 (31:02):
Four years lines up perfectly with you will no longer
get Pennis Junior on.

Speaker 1 (31:07):
The cheap correct.

Speaker 2 (31:08):
So it's like, absolutely you're wasting like the whole idea
of get a guy, get a guy that's young that
could do it before you have to pay him a
lah Brock party. Why did the Niners compete the last
two years and for the next year because you're allowed
to stack your team because you don't have to pay
a quarterback. By the time Cousins contracts up, Yeah, you
will then have to pay Penix.

Speaker 1 (31:30):
Defeats the purpose.

Speaker 5 (31:31):
Look at the NFC right now, Like, just look at
the NFC. We we know your Niners are good, but
honestly their window could be done.

Speaker 1 (31:39):
Could be you know, not as good as it was.

Speaker 5 (31:42):
We feel the Lions are good, Green Bay all right,
NFC East who knows everything?

Speaker 1 (31:46):
Else? Who knows?

Speaker 5 (31:47):
So it could kind of be there for the taking.
Why not then try to get another piece to try
to do it this year, to try to do it
next year.

Speaker 1 (31:54):
Honestly, you're about the contract. That's right, right, You're so
right that it's not like, listen the Niners. You know
things could go wrong. The Niners have cruised through the
playoffs this year, and you know, you assume the Niners
are strong. And besides that, Cavino, who else, who else
in the NFC? Detroit Green Bay showed promise? You know,

(32:17):
maybe you think maybe the Eagles have a bounce back
here Saquon Sirianni. They gave some they showed him some
confidence that you're our guy. But I would not be
shocked if there was a team that emerged as one
of the better teams in the NFC, and if you
would have got Kirk Cousins one more weapon on a
team that already had some good weapons that just needed
a quarterback and a coach that everyone seems to be behind.

(32:38):
I don't know. In Terra Sentte, well again your feedback
at Covino and Rich But I've got to talk to
dB and get an.

Speaker 2 (32:49):
Update first, and then a little NBA, little NBA what's
up debate.

Speaker 5 (32:54):
Guys, you're gonna get a lot of NBA right now
because the Pacers and Bucks and airing halftime in their
Game three is running.

Speaker 1 (33:00):
Shepherd took it to the hoop and laid it in
with Lopez all over.

Speaker 11 (33:05):
In league's third best shot blocker tried to take advantage
of the smaller Shepherd, who drove Lopez into the lane,
and Shepherd wins the motto moto.

Speaker 1 (33:16):
So it's been basically all Pacers in the first half.
Pacers Radio Network on the call.

Speaker 5 (33:20):
Damian Lillard had to leave a little while for Milwaukee
because of an ankle injury. He has returned to the game,
but right now Indiana's up on Milwaukee fifty seven to
fifty three minutes to go until halftime. And this is
a game that the Bucks are again playing without Giannis
and Tetokumpo because of his calf injury.

Speaker 2 (33:35):
Oh, it's going to ask you, dB, is there any
timeline on Giannis or no?

Speaker 1 (33:40):
No? And I do think that they.

Speaker 2 (33:43):
Were hoping to sneak by this first round, weren't they?
And it doesn't look like it's going to be as
easy as they may have thought.

Speaker 5 (33:48):
Correct, And I'm not even We'll just figure out the
Pacers deal. But when you have that Kevin Durant injury
that he had in the finals a few years ago,
you start talking about those calves.

Speaker 1 (33:58):
I mean rushing the guy back. You saw what happen.

Speaker 5 (34:00):
Yeah, yeah, it's just it's a scary situation. Two other
playoff games tonight Clippers and MAVs, t Wolves and Sons
will be the nightcap in Phoenix. The athletics is that
the NBA and Amazon Prime Video are closing in on
a deal that would make that streaming service home to
some NBA regular season in postseason games, and that deal
could last more than a decade.

Speaker 2 (34:20):
To confuse our parents even more. More sports on streaming,
where do I.

Speaker 1 (34:24):
Find it dead? Give me go on your remote?

Speaker 5 (34:27):
A forget we're talking conference finals? Maybe even that was
part of the rumors leading up, but we'll have to
see if a deal does get finalized. NFL Commissioner Roger
Goodell till the Pat McAfee show a couple of things
that yeah, he could see an eighteen game regular season coming,
maybe sooner rather than later, but saying that the seventeen
game regular season schedule is good right now, but that

(34:48):
he would rather have another game that means something than
to have the three preseason games that you have. Also
says he doesn't see a team moving overseason the next
ten years, but could see as many as sixteen NFL
games being held abroad during a season within the next
ten years or so. Isekil Elliott likely to be back.

Speaker 1 (35:05):
With the Cowboys.

Speaker 5 (35:06):
According to the Dallas Morning News and you guys touched
on this, the NIFLO will allow players to wear guardian
camps during games this season in hopes of lessening concussions.
Caitlin Clark, by the way, is at this game in Indianapolis,
taking it in the number one overall pick from the
Indiana Fever. And in college basketball, a mont Butler transferring
from San Diego State to Kentucky. According to KSR in

(35:27):
the Bluegrass State, Guys, back to you.

Speaker 1 (35:28):
Thanks dB, thanks to you know, show both sides of it.

Speaker 2 (35:32):
You know how a lot of people are showing like
the girlfriends of these guys about to make a ton
of money. Did you see the picture of Caitlyn Clark
and her boyfriends clinging on for dear life.

Speaker 1 (35:39):
They were celebrating their one year anniversary this week.

Speaker 2 (35:42):
Oh he's gonna He's gotta be popping that question soon.
All right, Cavino, We've been to graduate hotels, loved it, fantastic.

Speaker 1 (35:50):
Man, I can't wait to go again. We're on the streets.
We're going on a tour can We're gonna be visiting
a few more.

Speaker 2 (35:56):
Whether you're going to check out some college baseball, meet
up with some old friends, maybe check out your alma
mater with your kids. Springtime is primetime in college towns.
And two words for you, graduate hotels.

Speaker 1 (36:07):
There's no better place to stay, you know where fans.
We were at Nashville, had a great time, met some listeners,
met a bunch of listeners. Beautiful rooms, beautiful experience. The
bars were great, the karaoke bar rich. You shut it down.
He was there late at night, singing along again. When

Speaker 1 (36:51):
Dang it's ketting late early man early like mister Furley.
We're live from the Tiraq dot com studio, Cavino and
Rich and Thoroughbred Racing had a new independent regulator HAISA
that's implementing comprehensive reforms, and the sport is combining hands
on care with cutting edge technology to help keep its
athletes safe. To learn more of is it safety runs
first dot com? As safety runs first dot com. So

(37:14):
we're getting into weekend hobnobbing what you need to watch
this weekend, But a lot of that is the NBA
and the Lakers. Danny g sad to say that your
Lakers are one loss away from being swept, but at
the end of the day, it's just basketball. That's then
James quote Lebron James, but in his defense and by

(37:34):
the way, in print, that's a terrible quote. In his defense,
it was in regards to his teammates playing under the
pressure to play perfect, you know, like, hey, this is
what you gotta do. At the end of the day,
it's just basketball. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (37:49):
He and Anthony Davis have had a good series. It's
the supporting cast that has not showed up. Three point
shots have been off the defense hasn't been there. Yeah,
the effort hasn't been there in the second half the games.
You saw the stats I was giving you before the show.

Speaker 2 (38:02):
Then he said A eight D and Lebron have shot
sixty nine percent sixty nine yeah, and the rest of
the team has shot thirty eight percent, which he can't
win like that. It's like it's like a ever see
a movie where they spent all the budget on one
actor and it's like, what, it's like one good star
and it's like who the rest.

Speaker 1 (38:19):
Are these extras? And one of the problems is that's
how they're playing the Angelo Russell and we'll explain. You know,
they had twelve point leads, a twelve point lead, a
twenty point lead, and a twelve point lead again only
to lose it to the Nuggets. And we get it,
the Nuggets are good. But when you got guys like
d Angela Russell on their phone when the team's in
a huddle, I honestly bro I didn't even I couldn't

(38:41):
eve believe that was real. I thought maybe that was
like after the game or something, but he's there on
his phone. Yeah, it's just a it's a bad look.
It's there's like a you know, there's like an apathetic look,
you know when you're like disappointed in yourself and you
doubled down, you're okay whatever. Like that's sort of the
vibe I got.

Speaker 2 (38:56):
And you know the Angelo Russell when you put up
a and you're oh for seven, you got you play
twenty four minutes, you're oh for seven, oh for six
from three point range.

Speaker 3 (39:06):
But this is two postseasons in a row. This happened
last year. The Lakers brought him back. They're like, we
believe in you, and they gave him another shot.

Speaker 2 (39:14):
And you know what, after his shooting woes last year,
the narrative was, while he's been shooting better this year,
that's not the same d second.

Speaker 1 (39:22):
Half of the season, he was the best shooter on
the Lakers.

Speaker 2 (39:25):
And you know what, in Game two, the one that
the Lakers did sort of let's slip away, you know,
the worst that game, he hit three six three pointers
in the first half. And we were like, that's the
D'Angelo Russell that needs to show up because it can't
just be all Lebron and AD. And you saw yesterday
the perfect example of what happens when Lebron and a

(39:46):
d are the only guys playing. Austin Reeves played all
right yesterday, but again when D'Angelo Russell puts up a
goose egg and you know, prints off the bench, didn't
really do much.

Speaker 1 (39:57):
I don't know, nuts said the rest of the team
shooting thirty eight percent well.

Speaker 3 (40:01):
And also in the offseason, the Lakers need to address
getting some more big goons on the team, because when
they were able to handle the Nuggets, it's when they
had Dwight Howard, Javelle McGee and guys like that. You
need guys you can throw out there. Cat, you go
go out five six miles who cares and just keep
throwing the big bodies at the joker.

Speaker 1 (40:19):
That's what you gotta do.

Speaker 2 (40:20):
Hey, Danny, do you uh, do you believe in a
thing called lo Do you believe in magic? Do you
believe miracles in miracle? Do you believe that you build
your team to beat the team or do you believe
you just build the best roster? Like if you're in
the AFC West, do you build your team to beat
Patrick Mahomes and that offense?

Speaker 1 (40:41):
This is not a cop out. I'm gonna say both.

Speaker 3 (40:43):
You focus on what your players are good at, and
you lean to their strengths, but you also key in
on what you need to defeat that block.

Speaker 1 (40:51):
Like everyone in the West, especially the West, should be
a little focused on moving forward, if not already, Like
what can we do move being forward to stop Jokic?
And no one really can, No one can right now,
enjoy your NBA this weekend. But what else are we
gonna do? What else are we gonna watch? Let's get
into some weekend hob nobin quick, live in for the weekend.

Speaker 8 (41:14):
You're winning bets for talking points if you get stuck socializing.

Speaker 1 (41:18):
You ever done anything dangerous? You ever dance with the
den in the pound line?

Speaker 8 (41:22):
Friday brings us weekend hob Now, I'll.

Speaker 1 (41:26):
Make it quick. Hulu has a new documentary out, Thank
You good Night, The Bond Jovie Story. I love a
good documentary. I'm from New Jersey, so why not Thank
you good Night. Jose Ramirez, former one forty pound champ,
fights Barthelamy and it's a Vato double header and Fresno
on his own this weekend because Virgil Ortiz Junior is

(41:49):
also fighting DeLorme. So Ramirez lookout for him, big fan
of him. Hope he has a nice win over the
weekend if you like the fight game, and I'll tell
you what I'm gonna watch. I'm gonna go watch some
live music at Sick New World in Vegas. Actually hopping
on a plane right after the show. So watch out
for me if you see me. Drinks on you enjoy

(42:12):
your weekend, drinks on you listen. Of course, I'll be
watching some NBA playoffs tonight. I'm all about this Clippers
MAVs series. I feel like it's the one to keep
an eye on, of course in the West. Now, as
far as like nonsports stuff, hm, I'm sort of pulled
into that stupid Circle show on Netflix. My wife and
I watch your first couple. The characters are great. It's

(42:34):
so dumb. So it's back, yes, sort of, but you know,
she said, who just apologized? Sorry? I got great, you
know Sidney Sidney Sweeney. That rom com Maybe if you
need something to watch with the girlfriend or WIFEI anyone
but you is now free on Netflix.

Speaker 2 (42:49):
It was a you had to pay for it. It was
in the theater, but now it's available on Netflix.

Speaker 1 (42:53):
Danny g What you got? One quick thing on Netflix
drops today.

Speaker 3 (42:56):
Hack Your Health, The Secrets of your Gut, Doc on
the role your gut health plays and your overall well being.

Speaker 2 (43:02):
Avoid Avoid Taco Bell is my number one, but I
love it. I can't avoid it. I will see you guys.

Speaker 1 (43:07):
Are Riba there? Goodbye,
