Same exact fun we had this past weekend in Oregon,
but let's step it up. Let's get more people there.
Were all invited, bring friends. We got a happy hour,
live broadcast and happy hour and will be rocking out
nice uh Danny g Before we get into Aaron Rodgers

(01:09):
and some quarterback stitches in the NFL stitches. You couldn't
fit in the situations. You're right, as I said it,
I wanted to punch myself quarterback situations. Hold on, he me,
slap myself. I started watching a show sus I know
Kenny Rich would always say. I don't know if it's
like trying to be cool or way he goes. I
made a reservation I could shun. Was just too much

(01:35):
reservation where bro? Sorry, I got sorry, I got the
riz that you don't have, Danny. I started watching a
show with the wifey that you recommended. I know it's
not Friday and it's not weekend hobnobbin, but last night
I watched three episodes of The Big Door Price. Oh yeah,
And I'll tell you what get you thinking? What a show?

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Huh yeah, it's uh. I would say it's one of
the most what's the word I read? It makes you
think about your own life through the characters on that
TV show. And not every show you watch. Really, we
watch a lot of senseless reality TV, so not a
lot of shows make you have critical thinking like that one.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
Yeah, and you know what, it applies honestly to sports.
And I'll tell you why. Because the show Big Door.
What is a big Door price, the Big Door Prize.
It's a machine that gives you a car telepaux, the
morpho let you know the full potential of your life.
And when you think of sports, it's like the greatest

(02:34):
example of circumstances, luck, timing everything where there's a different
timeline where Tom Brady was Shannon Sharp's criticism to Shaquille
and Yole in their recent beef that he didn't maximize
his fullest potential and if he did, he would have
been an even more unstoppable force with more championships and MVPs.
I mean, there's a world in which Drew Bledsoe didn't

(02:58):
get laid out and Tom Brady their got that chance.
There's a world where that scenario, you know, like if
you butterfly fe So it's a good show if you
need something new to watch because I know right now
sort of a lull in TV. You, Oh, you can
watch Ashley Madison documentary and fight with your spouse about
it and rich wait till you see the blonde girl
in town that gets the card explore. Oh, I can't wait.

(03:18):
She she has an interesting thought on how to make
that her potential. I'm excited to watch all right, Willison,
or you can watch this Stenhouse Kyle Busch fight. I
like that one, the ball, the NASCAR brawl, the ages
I see that. I don't want to sound like a caveman,
but fights in sports are so good. I don't know why.

(03:39):
When you see baseball players, even in football, when guys
are hitting each other in the helmet, which seems meaning
was like punching helmets. I don't know why. I just it.
It excites me to see a sports fight. I mean,
people go to hockey games and NASCAR events to see
crashes and fights. Let's be honest.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
Yeah, there's a NASCAR series on Netflix and they do
it like twenty four to seven style. Oh really, just
the tension you feel between some of the drivers. Man,
it's what drives that sport really.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
Shake and bake. All right. Aaron Rodgers talking about a
controversial guy. Aaron Rodgers. I want to talk expectations, but
let's clear something up. We talked before about how this
presidential election is gonna get people fighting and confused. I mean,
it is, it really is. It's a nightmare. You might
want to take yourself off of Facebook because that's where

(04:27):
it gets the weakest and Twitter X. I would say Facebook,
Book Facebook, because it's like your family members are involved too,
and you're like and all of a sudden, like your
high school friend and your aunt are arguing, and to
stop with your political opinion. Doug from high school and
my a my aunt Sharon are fighting on Facebook. I
know it's all stop it. But r f K Junior,
the third party candidate, will not have a big enough

(04:49):
percentage to join in on the fun debates. But there
was the rumor that his VP candidate could have very
well been Aaron Rodgers. And this is what Aaron said
about it.

Speaker 3 (05:00):
How seriously did things get up with RKA about.

Speaker 4 (05:03):
Being a running man?

Speaker 1 (05:04):
Obviously we haven't kind of chances.

Speaker 5 (05:06):
Office says that watch Yeah, I love Bobby.

Speaker 6 (05:09):
We had a couple of really nice conversations, but there
were really two options. It was retire and be his VP,
or keep playing.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
And I want to keep playing. You know, do you
think that if RFK Junior had a real shot, That's
what I was gonna say. You know, if there was
a real chance to make a change and help lead
this country, and it was a real chance at that
that would have been a more honorable you know situation
for him to be in then playing football, right, but
there was no shot, There was no shots. Give me

(05:41):
the right choice, give up football to to not have
a shot at being vice president? Or like what if
Aaron Rodgers was asked to be the VP for Trump
or Biden? Different story? Will the politics line up?

Speaker 4 (05:57):
You know?

Speaker 1 (05:58):
Would that have been a possibility? So, yeah, would have
been a different story. Unfortunately, those are the two guys
you got to deal with now. He also said, because
this is almost a triple doozy of Aaron Rodgers news because,
as Dan Byer said, no restrictions at practice after the
Achilles tear, no restrictions. So he's feeling good, he's playing well,
and he loves football more than the opportunity of not,

(06:23):
let's just say running as VP, because he would have
had no chance to win. Now, the next tier of
this is all right now that he's back on the field.
I just wanted to get that RFK thing out of
the way because he finally addressed it. But now that
he's a full participant year two, it's almost like last
year was a sad mulligan, right. Take two. Last year

(06:46):
was like the worst case scenario for any Jets fan right,
like almost it's almost comical him running out there with
the USA flag four plays later, Like really, that's it?

Speaker 3 (06:58):
What?

Speaker 1 (06:59):
Yeah, that's the weakest. So it's it almost seems like
a comic Almost sounds like a comical nightmare for Jets fans.
So now that that's all side year two, Take two,
the team made some improvements. The Zach Wilson arras behind us.
Throw Aaron Rodgers in there. You got some weapons. Now,

(07:21):
what what is the expectation, whether you're a Jets fan
or just a football fan in general. I talk to
my brother during the break, but my brother hit me
up during the AFCA. My brother hit me up during
the break and he's like, you gotta talk about Aaron Rodgers. Hey, Jimmy,
you haven't talked to my brother in a min I go,
what do you think? He's high on it? He goes,

(07:42):
Aaron Rodgers is going to be added to a team
that was good, that had trash in the quarterback's position.
So my brother thinks the Dolphins and the Bills. Dolphins,
he thinks, and they know what I steel. I feel
like maybe the Dolphins take a little step back and
the Bills are solid and I would you be shocked
if the Jets win ten or more games. I would not.
But here's the question I got to ask for the

(08:04):
people playing along at home. They were seven to ten
last year. You think they're under what are the no
I think they're pretty much where they are, maybe eight wins.
You so you think under five hundred for Aaron rodd
underfive Well yeah, probably yeah. I think just just about
five hundred, little under five hundred. What are the realistic expectations?

(08:25):
Because the third part of the Aaron Rodgers' situation here
is that he's saying he loves the pressure. Not only
does he love football, but he loves the pressure. Take
a listen.

Speaker 6 (08:37):
If I don't do what I know I'm capable of
doing that, we're all probably going to be out of here.
So I like that kind of pressure. Though it's a
tough market to play in. It's not for everybody realist
that opportunity.

Speaker 1 (08:48):
He wants it. He likes the pressure. David Bowie style,
Billy Joel style, sir sly. He welcomes the pressure. So
what does a successful Aaron Rodgers season look like to you?
Eight seven, seven, nine nine on Fox, Danny g The
realistic expectation and what does it look like to us?

(09:11):
What the expectation is. He's playing in New York, they're
paying in big money, he's Aaron Rodgers. The expectations is
playoff or BUS. That's the way. So you're saying playoff
for Bus absolutely round of the playoffs. Yah, I don't
think that's the REU. So you think those are two
separate questions. You think ten and seven Jets team that
loses in the wildcard rounds as a fail. Yeah, I

(09:32):
feel like they need to go deeper into the play
I think it needs to be mahomes Lamar Jackson, Aaron Rodgers,
Jets like like division around him in at the tail
end of his career to not do that. So you're
thinking a divisional weekend in the AFC should look like this,
mahomes Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow and Aaron Rodgers. Yeah, yeah, ding,

(09:55):
ding ding, those are the expectation. I just don't think
that'll happen. Joe Burrow's hair, by the way, Joe Burrow's hair,
I rooting against him, not that'd be awesome to see.
But I still think, you know, even though they made
improvements for whatever reason, just like the Knicks still were
the Knicks when it all came down to it. The
Jets will be the Jets. Mant me. They're gonna be
better than they might be, just as good as the Dolphins.

(10:16):
They're not gonna get past Buffalo. So well, hold on,
let me, let me, let me throw something at you.
This will take two minutes, but I think it's a
fun exercise. Squad thrusts go. I'm kidding, kurpies, a fun exercise.
I heard our pals, Jason Fits and Gargana, the fellas.
I was listening to them, what's up, fella, my drive

(10:37):
from Eugene to Portland. I have to catch those dudes.
Great guys, Gargano and Jason Fits, great dudes. And they
were going game by game of the Chargers schedule. And
I know it's so hard the season and preseason hasn't
even begun. But if we just take a casual look
at the Jets season and say win loss, win, look, sure,

(10:57):
let's let's just do that and then we'll move on.
Because I'm curious if we played out that way strength
of schedule wise, and Danny, I was Sam van Byer, correct,
as if you feel like we're way off Okay, let's
try to get a consensus. Forty nine Ers loss, right, Yeah,
no way you would think so. At the Titans, I
think that's a win. Yeah, it could be at home

(11:20):
against the Patriots. Win at home, Pats, Yeah, at home
against the Jets. I at home against the Broncos, I
think that's a win. At the Vikings in London. Well,
it's the London game. You never know about London games.
Let's just give it the benefit of the doubt. Four
and one Bills, No. Four and two Steelers, we don't know.

(11:41):
That's a tough one. I mean, we're talking about the quarterbacks.
Give them the win. Five and two, give them the win,
all right? Patriots? Do they it's no longer Belichick, So
it's a bad Patriots seems so. All right. Six and
two Texans, I'll gi him a loss. Cardinals'll GiMA win.
Now there's seven and three.

Speaker 5 (12:01):
Cults.

Speaker 1 (12:04):
I think they got that. No Richardson healthy, all right,
we'll give him a long Well, we'll give him a loss,
but we'll give him a win at home against the Seahawks.
Then they played the Dolphins. Let's get let's split it
with Dolphins one in one. Let's say they lose to
the Jags, they lose to the Rams, win against the Jags.

Speaker 5 (12:25):
We'll get it.

Speaker 1 (12:29):
Ten and ten and seven, eleven and six? Is that fair? Like?
Just to what would the would they the most casual
of it's fair like. We're also guessing that Aaron Rodgers
stays healthy again, no restrictions at practice. That was the
update today. You give her take. I mean, I know
it's a it's a big one, but I know, Cavino,

(12:50):
it's a ridiculous look six months in the future. But
based on what we know from last season and what's happened,
that's a fair look, right, Dandy. Yeah, I could see
ten and seven, ten and seven playoff team, and you're
right for it to be considered successful, though they would
need to be a little better than that or win
in the first round and at least be able to
say the Jets won a playoff game with a guy
they spent forty to fifty million dollars on at the quarterback.

(13:12):
That's a positive. I love the two things he's quoted
as saying in the past twenty four hours. Though, you know,
the choice to continue playing football was easy for him
as opposed to getting into politics and it's because he
loves football. I love football. That's great to hear. He's
you know, older now in the game of football, he
still loves it. That's what you want. I love the pressure. Well,

(13:32):
guess what, there's gonna be a lot on you this
year because everyone waited an extra year for you to
be healthy and the expectations are high. He loves the pressure.
That's what you want to hear. He's going to thrive
under this New York pressure. That's great New So I'm
wishing all the best for him. I'm thinking closer to
five hundred rich as opposed to ten and seven. But

(13:54):
we'll see Dan byering anything stick out to you. Are
you and Aaron Rodgers optimistic? Are you thinking under five hundred?

Speaker 7 (14:02):
Like, No, I'm not an I don't think it's under
five hundred. I just the expectations you guys pointed out
earlier last year at this time, I think super Bowl
was something that they would have hoped for and maybe
wasn't too far out of the realm of possibility. But
just even his own health, even though he's doing stuff
at practice, I think playoffs is what you got to expect.

Speaker 1 (14:24):
Remember the year behind, like had he played last year,
they would have probably played over five hundred football. We
think they would have built that chemistry looking to be
in better position this year they're starting. It's almost take one.
This is to take one, even though it's really take two.

Speaker 7 (14:41):
With a guy who's got now injured achilles, I have
no idea on how he's going.

Speaker 1 (14:46):
To respond to that.

Speaker 7 (14:47):
So I think I think playoffs especially too, because of
their playoff drought that they have, which I believe is
the longest in the NFL. And so just to just
to be able to if you could just knock that
hurdle aside, you know, jump over that hurdle, it's probably
the better analogy I think is what we should ask
for the Jets this year.

Speaker 1 (15:06):
And all the growing pains we would have saw last
year and all the you know, working out the kinks
and creating a chemistry we're gonna see this year. So
keep that in mind when you think about it.

Speaker 7 (15:17):
And the other thing, just as you guys were mentioning
when you mentioned your your four quarterbacks that you wanted
to see in the divisional weekend, think of all the
ones that you're leaving out.

Speaker 1 (15:26):
Josh Allen left Yeah, I left out Lawrence, you know,
I mean, you're right, Deshaun Watson. Yeah, I mean like
there's those justin Herbert who you know, you ever know? Yeah,
So it's going to be tough to try to break
through on that, just with how good the AFC is.
So if the Niners don't find the way to ever
win a Super Bowl in an era right now where

(15:46):
all the powers in the AFC, my team is doomed.
As a Niners fan, think about it when you say that,
and then say who's in the NFC Cavino Jalen Hurts Detroit, Detroit, Troit. No,
maybe a young.

Speaker 7 (16:01):
I laugh at Detroit because it's the only other team,
but not I'm not laughing at Detroit. They have a
legitimate shot at winning. But it's like that's you know, Philadelphia, Dallas.
But San Francisco is in the driver's seat, So get
it done.

Speaker 1 (16:13):
Kyle Shanahan, all right, listen, coming up, we're gonna do

of Utah? I do excavation? Okay? Cool?

Speaker 2 (21:07):
Here are the rules for Shack Diesel trivia. The first
contestant with two correct answers is the champion. If there's
a tie, we have a tie breaker question. Your name
is your buzzer, but you do have to wait until
all three possible answers are read. If there's two wrong
answers in a row, we move on to the next question.
Are you ready? Yeah, let's get it on round one.

Speaker 10 (21:26):
Here, Yeah, all right, let the big Aristotle party start it.
Let's get it started. How many times has a quadruple
double happened.

Speaker 1 (21:32):
In the NBA?

Speaker 10 (21:33):
A two times? B three times? Or see four times?
How many times has a quadruple double happened in the NBA?

Speaker 1 (21:44):
Rich? Yeah, all right, go ahead?

Speaker 5 (21:48):
Uh B three?

Speaker 8 (21:50):
No?

Speaker 1 (21:52):
Sorry man?

Speaker 5 (21:53):
Four times?

Speaker 1 (21:54):
Yes? The less do it was?

Speaker 10 (21:56):
David Ronaldson Robinson of the Spurs of nineteen ninety.

Speaker 1 (22:00):
Funny would say that my guess would have been Duncan
or Robinson, one of those guys that was putting up points,
boards blocks, like that's an impressive thing. Nate, what are
you doing? Are you underneath your car. Yeah, excavation.

Speaker 9 (22:10):
All right, I'll stop for a minute.

Speaker 1 (22:12):
I was just moving in Mike, Okay, I was just
working all right. Rich on the board quickly as we
moved around too. Around two.

Speaker 10 (22:19):
Who was the first African American to play in the NBA? Ay,
Chuck Cooper? B Earl Lloyd or c Nott Clifton. You
want to buzz in Nate Nate? Yeah, go for it.

Speaker 5 (22:36):
I'm gonna go with a Chuck Cooper.

Speaker 1 (22:39):
No, no, damn buy it.

Speaker 10 (22:43):
I'll say see No, first African American to play in
the NBA. Let's all give our props to Earl Lloyd.

Speaker 1 (22:51):
Yeah, Earl Lloyd.

Speaker 10 (22:53):
Because of the nineteen fifty schedule, Lloyd played a day
before Cooper in four days before Clifton.

Speaker 2 (22:57):
Yeah, all three came in in nineteen fifty, but Lloyd
played first.

Speaker 1 (23:02):
How uncompetitive was the NBA before that? Such a white
dude tribling in front of themselves. They all look like you. Rich.

Speaker 7 (23:13):
I liked how the technicality is down to the schedule
like the day. Yeah right, all right, we move on
to round three. Rich is the only one on the board.

Speaker 10 (23:22):
So far before being selected by Washington in nineteen fifty.
Lloyd was a star for the Globetrotters in nineteen twenty seven.
Where did the original halland Globetrotters play their first road game? Angola, Indiana? B. Hannibal,
Missouri or C. Hinckley Illinois.

Speaker 1 (23:40):
Rich, I'll go a Indiana. No, you'd be wrong, Nate,
Nate for the steal.

Speaker 2 (23:47):
Yesley Illinois and she near They started in Chicago, made
their way out to Hinckley Hall Globe Trotters.

Speaker 1 (23:55):
All right, Nate and Rich both on the board as
we go to around four of nineteen fifties trivia. By
the way, you got anything that happened within the last like,
I don't know that was nineteen twenty seven we're talking about. Yeah,
we're talking about where Lloyd got to start, all right.

Speaker 10 (24:10):
He was the only woman, only woman to ever be
officially drafted by the NBA team. Hey, Rebecca Lobo, B
Lisa Leslie or C. Lucia Harris, Dan Buyer.

Speaker 1 (24:22):
It's got to be C. Yes, you're right. She turned
down the NBA in nineteen seventy seven. Wow, three way time,
three way tie right now? Yeah? Round five? Round five?

Speaker 10 (24:36):
Who was the first NBA player to wear the number
double zero? A. Orlando Woolridge, b Robert Parrish or C
Johnny Moore, Rich Rich for the win, Robert Parish, Yes, yes, yeah,
Elanda Wood, Jenny where the singles are all exactly trying
to throw you off.

Speaker 1 (24:57):
Good one, Shack, Thanks Shack. Going to the game tonight, Nate,
have a good day in you, Tom. I'm fraid a
game tonight. Yeah. We appreciate you playing the game, Nate,
Thank you. I enjoy later Nate, Nate the great goodbye
all right now?

Speaker 2 (25:10):
Yeah, hope you don't get canceled after NBC gets the contract.

Speaker 1 (25:14):
There's a really really cool story in the world of
Bryce Harper and PROMP Polsles. We're gonna get to that
in a second while we go to Denbyer for an update.
What's up DBA Celtics tonight?

Speaker 7 (25:27):
Man, You know you miss Shack. He was amazing eight
o'clock in this certain time. He brought us all the
tidbits from nineteen forty one, great pre World War two.
It was crazy, it was all that good stuff.

Speaker 1 (25:38):
Yeah, let me give you another fun factor. We're always
trying to hook up with Bobby the podcast. If you
want to, if you want to go back to the
early nineteen hundreds, dam buyer. On this day in nineteen
o eight, this will go along with Danny Trivia, the
first ever horror movie was released. You know what it was,
no idea, Doctor Jekyll and Mister High hmm, nineteen o eight.
So you look at that thought it was more.

Speaker 5 (25:57):
Of a thriller.

Speaker 1 (26:02):
Pacers Celtics tonight. We hope that's a thriller.

Speaker 7 (26:04):
At eight o'clock Eastern, Game one of the Eastern Conference
Finals now, Game seven of the Timberwolves Nuggets series averaged
eight point four million viewers. That's the most ever for
TNT for a first or second round NBA playoff game,
but playoff numbers are down ten percent from a year
ago when it comes to TV ratings. According to Awful
Announcing had that information. Sports Spurs rookie center Victor woman

(26:27):
Yama named to the All NBA Defensive First Team. He
wasn't an unanimous pick, though Timberwolve center Rudy Gobert was.
The rest of the first team includes Anthony Davis of
the Lakers, the Heats, bam at a Bio, and Herb
Jones of the Pelicans, where Shee Rice is not likely
to face charges in Dallas after an alleged victim and
an assault case did not want to press charges against
the Chiefs wide receiver. Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers has had

(26:50):
no restrictions in practice, according to the head coach Robert
Sala as he returns from an ankle achilles injury. Browns
quarterback Deshaun Watson won't throw it out as tomorrow as
he returns from shoulders and rams, ruing that Karen Williams
is going to miss the team's offseason program this spring.
He's dealing with a foot issue with The NFL confirmed
a report out of Australia that the league could play
a regular season game within the next two years in

(27:12):
the country. And the Louisville Metro Police Department continue their
investigation into the arrest of Scotti Scheffler last Friday. The
reports are saying they're looking into whether proper procedures were followed.
The department says I'll have an additional update on Thursday. Guys,
back to you, thank you, d ME, thank you Dan.

Speaker 1 (27:28):
Now, earlier today, we saw a story that I think
everyone saw on social media yesterday. Man, it was everywhere yesterday,
was everywhere this morning, and I looked in my inbox,
and it turns out that the mom in this story
has been a longtime listener of our show. I love
that and she's like, hey, did you see this. I'm like, yeah,
I did. Why She's like, that's my son, and I

(27:50):
was like, well, your son has a set of huevos.
We're talking about one of the greatest promposals in recent history. Now,
if you don't know, these promposals our next level, extra
and elaborate nowadays. So how do you compete in this world?
How do you let this young woman know that you
want to take her to the prom? And the coolest

(28:11):
way pops if some of the old heads don't know. Nowadays,
kids don't just ask each other to the problem. There's
like an elaborate like display a love or affection, like
a you know, something showy. It's like a gender reveal. Yeah, exactly.
And there's a kid named Jake Portella in Jersey that
pulled off possibly the coolest one ever. We have him,

(28:33):
his girlfriend and the mom on the phone. Let's say
first hello to Lauren. Hi, Lauren, how are you?

Speaker 8 (28:38):
Hey?

Speaker 1 (28:38):
How are you Lauren? First of all, thanks for listening.
I heard you. You like you're a fan of our show,
and we love you for.

Speaker 8 (28:44):
That very much. Long time Carl here, Well, not only.

Speaker 1 (28:48):
Were we pumped to see the story, we were extra
prompt to know that, you know, you're the mom of
the kid who came up with this crazy plan. Now, yes,
I want to talk to Jake too, well how he
came up with the plan. But when he told you
about it, what were your thoughts? And again to get
Bryce Harper to ask his girlfriend to the prompt, Well,

(29:14):
I was.

Speaker 8 (29:15):
Impressed that he was willing to go to such great lengths.
I mean, he told me that it had to be
a proposal, and I was like, do you want me
to go to the store. You know, he mentioned he
like Philly's. I'm like, and you get like some Philly
swag And he was like, no, no, no, that will
not do. And and he you know, he definitely really
up the ante here.

Speaker 1 (29:36):
You know, I would have been impressed if he got
the Philly fanatic to show up, you know, yeah, to
think he was thinking big. You got to give him
credit for it.

Speaker 8 (29:44):
I was going to get like balloons or something like
Philly balloons or like a stuff animal. And he definitely,
you know, he definitely had bigger dreams.

Speaker 1 (29:52):
Than I did. So if you want to hand the
phone over to Jake, your son, he's right here.

Speaker 5 (29:56):
He's right here, Jake.

Speaker 1 (29:58):
What's up man? Now, O tell us how this all
went down, because we've seen the video Bryce Harper. Did
you go to Bryce Harper's house?

Speaker 4 (30:06):
Yeah, I'm just knocked on his door.

Speaker 1 (30:08):
I mean that's bold, dude, you got it. You gotta
tell me, like the mindset. Did you ask your mom
if you if you thought if she thought it was
a good idea? Did you ask anybody who? Did you
just boldly go there? Yeah? How did you get the address?
And like, what was the thought process here?

Speaker 4 (30:23):
Well, I know someone who's his neighbor who like, so
I was basically just thinking of a Phillies player to
get Yeah, because she's a big Phillies fan. And my
one friend happens to be neighbors with Bryce Harper, and
he was like, he's a cool guy. You know, you
might as well try.

Speaker 8 (30:39):
And he lives we live in the same town, so
it's that kind of helps you sort of know things
because we all live in the same town.

Speaker 1 (30:46):
Yeah, but I imagine like his house is hard to
get to. Now, like do you ride your bike there?
You have high school a high school senior did, so
you drove over there. Knock, knock, knock. Bryce Harper answered
the door.

Speaker 4 (31:00):
Jake, Yeah, it was him.

Speaker 3 (31:03):
I was a little shocked.

Speaker 4 (31:03):
I thought he's gonna like send someone else answer the door.

Speaker 1 (31:05):
But dude, wait, hold on, you weren't nervous. I would
have been so nervous to do this.

Speaker 4 (31:10):
I wouldn't say the nerves didn't kick in until he
actually agreed to do it, because I went into it
with like low expectations, right, Bode, I might as well
just like try my best, and I was pretty confident
with it. I'd say hey, but once you said yes,
that was yes, I was nervous.

Speaker 1 (31:25):
Jake, correct me if I'm wrong here, because I did
talk to your mom, Lauren. I was told that, like
your initial thought was maybe to exchange information so you
guys could coordinate like a later date. Like that was
sort of where you were going for, right, And then
what happened?

Speaker 4 (31:41):
Yeah, so yeah, my original goal was to like like
schedule it for the next couple of days and make
a poster in time.

Speaker 1 (31:51):
Yeah, He's like, I don't know that.

Speaker 4 (31:52):
Take tradition to make a poster. Yeah, but he gave
me the opportunity. He was like, let's just do it
right now. And I couldn't turn that down, So I
figured I don't post their matters.

Speaker 1 (32:00):
For this, No, So he was just there chilling. He's like,
let's go now then, and how far away with like
how far away is is Julia's house? Like where he
was down for that?

Speaker 4 (32:12):
Only a couple of blocks? Yeah, real short drive.

Speaker 9 (32:14):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (32:15):
So it just all sort of logistically worked out perfect
for you. And did you interrupt his workout dinner? Was
he watching American Idol or something like? Yeah? What was
he doing?

Speaker 4 (32:26):
I honestly have no idea. He didn't seem busy or anything.
I mean I had to go on a day obviously
when they weren't playing, I thought I'd have the best
chance of him answering.

Speaker 1 (32:36):
Hey, dude, on a serious note, like we were talking
about we were talking about Joe Burrow's hair and his
flow and how handsome he looks and everything earlier, like
when you see Bryce Harper, you're a young guy. When
you see Bryce Harper open the door and he's got
that beard and that jolly and that main are you
just like sort of like whoa, that's Rice Harper.

Speaker 8 (32:58):
Yeah, no, he's Yeah.

Speaker 4 (33:00):
I just one way to say is like intimidating, especially
when he just opens the door and you're just staring
right at him.

Speaker 1 (33:05):
Oh god, it's Bryce Harper. So you thought you were
selling cookies yourself. Yeah, yeah, I'll sponsor your run walk.
So you got Bryce Harper. And then he agrees to
go right now, go with you to your girlfriend's house. Now,
your girlfriend's on the phone. Put on Julia if you
don't mind, Julia. You answer your door and there's your boyfriend,
but he has Bryce Harper with him.

Speaker 5 (33:27):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (33:28):
Yeah, I have to say, the first thing I saw
was Bryce Harper, and then my world was immediately blown.
I had to shut the door really quick to recalibrate.
Oh back up again, and I just was absolutely hysteric,
immediately started crying.

Speaker 1 (33:47):
Now, now this video is everywhere and the reaction and
Bryce Harper, this whole thing is so priceless. So I mean,
no matter what you're checking, ESPN, Fox Sports, please, it's
everywhere right now, so definitely check it out out. But
I want to know, like, were you sort of taken back,
Like were you sure it was him? Did you think
it's an imposter, Like did you know it was him
when you saw him? And did you get any sort

(34:09):
of warning like we're on our way?

Speaker 9 (34:11):
I saw. Oh, I had absolutely no warning, But I mean,
how could he really? I mean, it happened so quickly
that you know, it just really was a complete complete surprise.
But you know, I just saw I saw the mark
under Bryce's eye and I was like, oh my god,
that's him, Julia Mark.

Speaker 1 (34:32):
He was wearing his EyeBlack.

Speaker 8 (34:36):
Birthmark. Wow.

Speaker 1 (34:39):
Yeah, Julie, I can only imagine. Is it safe to
say your your boyfriend, Jake, your dude, may have given
you a top five proposal of all time? This is
this goes down right, I mean in the in the books.

Speaker 9 (34:49):
I mean I think it's top two.

Speaker 5 (34:51):
And it's not number two.

Speaker 9 (34:52):
I really don't know how.

Speaker 1 (34:55):
Especially considering you're you're such a big Phillies fan. If
you oh, and you know what I noticed too. So
Bryce asks if you'll go to the prom with Jake
and you hug Bryce first? Yeah, yeah, you hugged Bryce first.
I don't blame you, but tell me your thought process.

Speaker 8 (35:16):
It's Bryce Harper, like the chosen one standing in front
of you.

Speaker 9 (35:20):
You're not going to try to You're not going to
try to, like, you know.

Speaker 1 (35:24):
If he's real, Like, you know what, I think there's
a great story, Julie Jake. One last question. Yeah, because
when she asks, uh, he asked her to the prom
she says, yes, everybody hugs and everything. It appears that
maybe your dad comes out to shake the hand of
Bryce Harper. How cool was that? Well, your dad must

(35:44):
your dad must have been in shock, like, why is
Bryce Harper in my porch?

Speaker 9 (35:50):
Mark?

Speaker 1 (35:50):
Mark is here?

Speaker 4 (35:51):
Who's Julie's dad? And I'm that who's Jake's dad?

Speaker 5 (35:53):
And we have no clue what the hell we've done here?

Speaker 1 (35:57):
That's awesome. And I guess everybody's just hitting you up
since because it's gone so viral. It must be a
cool feeling.

Speaker 4 (36:03):
Yeah, it was. It was.

Speaker 8 (36:04):
It was surreal seeing him standing there, and you know,
I just wanted to shake his hands.

Speaker 1 (36:11):
And that's part of the clip.

Speaker 9 (36:12):
And Jake.

Speaker 1 (36:15):
I give all the credit to Jake for having the
thought to do this, uh, the confidence to knock on
his door, to make this happen for Julia, to make
her feel special. What was the little one on one
you had with Bryce? You know before he went on
his way, did he wish you good luck? Like, did
you say thank you? What was the little one on
one interaction?

Speaker 4 (36:35):
I mean, you know, he's a busy guy. He got
out of there really fat. Oh yeah, basically he walked
out and I was like, thanks so much, man, like
I appreciate it, Like you really just like made my
entire year with this.

Speaker 1 (36:49):
No, that's the coolest Jake, you the man, Lauren, thanks
for being a listener. And Julia, I have a great
time at the problem. You have the coolest proposal story
of all time. Now and a Mets fan, I hate
to say it, your phillies are phillies. Your phillies are
so damn good. They are so damn good. And I know, well,

(37:12):
let me tell you your team. Your team's the best
in the National League. And Bryce Harper is a really
likable dude. So hey, congrats and we'll chat soon. Okay, guys,
okay later, thank you, thank you guys, and thought again,
Bryce Harper couldn't get any cooler. I think he's one
of the most underrated stars in the MLB, and this

(37:33):
makes me like him even more.

Speaker 3 (37:35):
Well.

imagine you're a high school girl and knock, knock, knock,

(39:23):
your boyfriend is asking you to the prom. But look
who's with him. I just Harper, that was such an
underachiever when it came to that, Like, I think I
pulled some sort of rocky boum boa Like I was
wondering if you didn't mind like go with me too much?

Speaker 2 (39:37):
Like absolutely, Cavin know your girlfriend would have been asking
for Don maddingly.

Speaker 1 (39:41):
Yeah, like yeah, and can you imagine, you know how
nervous I would have been to do something like that
and just go up to the door blindly and knock
like that. That's crazy, he pictured that old but Don
Maddingley was around there, and your problem old guys. Anyway,
So Danny G's a thing, yeah ninety five? Yeah, sure, bro,
but uh, what's interesting is off the air. Cavino goes, yoh, bro,

(40:05):
if I was you know, if I was a teenager now,
I want to do any of this BS, And I'm like,
you would because the hot girls would expect it. I
know that's not the right answer, but did you think
you got a pressure on a young man? Is it
really a lot of pressure? I'm just saying, because you
look you you're competing again, think of all that bring
Bryce Harp Not to sound crude here on Fox Sports, ready,
but think of all the random, dumb things you did

(40:25):
for tail back in your twenties and teen years. You're
telling me you wouldn't have done a promposal. Of course
you would have had. I would have felt weird about it.
You always tell me, tell me, you always tell me
that you're I would have been waiting for gir to
ask me on the prom? You know who she bringing,
what she gonna do? Oh, Phil Simpson. I'm like, but

(40:46):
you would have done it because you could be the
stubborn guy. That's like, I wouldn't have I don't know, man,
that's a lot. That's a lot. It really is. Guy.
Guys are going there singing with their friends and doing
all these crazy things. But hey, it's nice for the
glass mobs. Yeah, I know, flash mobs, dances, routines, choreography.
Hold on, you have a teenage daughter. You don't think
when it's prom time for her some guy should go

(41:07):
out of his way for her. I do think that,
and I think that would be nice. That's why I
think it's a great story. I'm just saying I don't
think I would have had the huevos. The Kohona has
to do something this elaborate. But again, different time, different place, right,
So thank you guys for hanging out with us. If
you Missshack Diesel trivia, our discussion about Aaron Rodgers. We
talked a lot of hair today because we were duped

(41:29):
by the Joe Burrow great meame. I'm still not the
photoshop of Joe Burrow still want to believe it. I
still want to believe that Joe Burrow looks like a lion.
Remember you could hear it all on our podcast just
search Covino and Rich Remember to join us live on
Friday in Tempe, Arizona Graduate Hotels. And the only story
we really didn't get to today, Rich, Well, we talked
Tyreek Hill yesterday. There's no real update there. Kobe get

(41:50):
someone else pregnant eleven kids now. Kobe Yashi announced his retirement,
so he cites health reasons. He just wants to focus
on as well. Wait, Kobyashi, the hot dog eater, the
hot dog eater, it's one of the four major sports.
I figured he'd be interested. He retired, he says he's done,
So what happening on his well being? And you know
he's been doing He did a lot of damage to

(42:11):
his body in two decades of eating hot dogs. So
what if you have a night? What if you have
a night we have a one too many drinks, so
you get high and you just eat a lot? Is
that coming out of retirement? Sort of just not competitively,
but I mean he was the Look, every great one
has a competitor, Every for every Kobayashi, there's a Joey Chestnut.

(42:31):
For every Muhammad Ali, there's a Joe Frazier. So you know,
they brought greatness out in each other. You know something
you said, Kobyashi, something Kmita said earlier, which is honestly
like a sad truth. I know we joke about hot
dog gatting, but Joey Chestnut's greatness really did get in
the way of this guy. You know how Jordan got
in the way of every superstar in the nineties. Yeah,
it's the truth. Kobyashi had Joey Chestnut in his way.

(42:53):
Joey Chestnut. Joey Chestnut, absolutely so he's calling it today
and we wish him the best. But thank you guys
for hanging out with us. And again, I'm really looking
forward to Friday's live broadcast in Tempe, Arizona. It's gonna
be a lot of fun shirts coming with us. Danny

more live shows courtesy of us. We'll see you then
