on Fox Sports Radio, let's go right three Wednesday or

stories in the world of sports and pop culture today.

(01:14):
Spotty's got them are that bedlines mid Are they weak?

Speaker 1 (01:17):
Are they major depresses?

Speaker 2 (01:20):
Let me tell you, are these stories dog water as
the kiddies say, are they toilet water?

Speaker 1 (01:24):
Are they skivvy ohio Riz? Or are they.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
Really good stories? Say skibbity Ohio, Riz. One more time,
I might slam your head against the console.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
I know, because I still never want to see the
word skibbitty again. You say these things as a jo.
It's because of the skivvity toilet thing. I know, I
don't understand. That's the moment where I realized, like, you know,
I've gotten too old.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
We're not supposed to understand. Let the kids say it.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
It's funny, but you start saying these things to annoy
younger kids or to aggravate your teenager.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
But it's weird because I know the tech they use
to make that stuff. That's reason I used to use
that one as a kid. So it's just it's, you know,
every song an abomination with legos.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
Every generation has their own lingo, and as Kavina said,
we're fans of lingo.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
I don't blame the kids. I think it's funny.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
There's ones I like when the kids, you know, Riz
and the Rizzler and you got charisma.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
I think that's funny, the skibbity.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
I'm like, I know, but you know, you say it
as a joke and then it becomes a part of you.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
You become the joke.

Speaker 4 (02:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:24):
Anyway, we're broadcasting live from the tire rack dot com studios.

puts together the best of podcast each hour, so if
you miss anything you can always catch up, rate review
follow just search Covino and Rich and according Uh, surely

(02:48):
you have five minutes to hear the best of our show. Yes,
Danny G has a hard time getting that together. Yo, Danny,
what do you think the pointspread is tonight for Game three?
Not to put you on the spot, but you are
a guy that knows your NBA. Yeah, do you think
who's favorite tonight?

Speaker 5 (03:03):
I'm gonna say that Boston is favored by three and
a half points.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
No, they got the MAVs at home, keeping this alive.
MAVs by two and a half.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
So if you want to know is questionable for tonight too.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
Porzis is questionable. Luca said, we all got to believe.
So Porzias is questionable, but be saying he's playing, if
he could play, he's playing.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
Yeah, I look at it this way.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
We all should be rooting for Dallas because who wants
an NHL Stanley Cup Finals and an NBA finals.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
That's sort of over after three, like if both.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
Of these go up, Hey, rich are Das Let's go?

Speaker 1 (03:38):
Let me text Mark Cuban, get these guys fired up.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
Mark, Hey, everybody, you're right if you're not a Celtics fan,
if you're not, you know, a Panthers fan, h Yeah,
why not extend it?

Speaker 1 (03:50):
Keep the fund going.

Speaker 2 (03:51):
I'm with you, because then we just have baseball and
and your occasional Caitlin Clark view before football kick. So
let's extend this another week or so, shall we? Let's
go NBA, Let's go NHL.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
We've got the Olympics coming on stretch it the Olympics,
and there's a stady for judo golf.

Speaker 5 (04:10):
There's a stat here in favor of the MAVs teams
that are favored to win in Game three when down
two to oh in the finals are eight No since
nineteen ninety three?

Speaker 2 (04:18):
Wow eight No so hey, as Rocky Bowboas says, and
I follow this in life for real, and it has
nothing to do with sunshine and rainbows.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
Oh, condominium's unus.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
No, no, no, it's not hey like absolutely yo, hey, yo,
mister tiger, none.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
Of that, okay, coconuts.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
It's a great way to approach life because when you
look too far ahead, you get too flustered. It's one step,
one punch, one round at a time, step, one punch,
one round at a time, one game at a time.
They went tonight, they're right back in it.

Speaker 5 (04:49):
The reason why I thought Boston might be favored by
a little bit. Lucas battling like three different injuries. Yeah,
and it's he's just not himself. And Kyrie obviously does
not like going against Drew Holiday.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
Well.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
As of now, Kyrie has not hit a three point
shot in the NBA Finals. That's got to change tonight.
So I think a lot of it has to do
with is Kyrie going to be the guy that a
week ago we're saying, Yo, Kyrie's the old Kyrie. We
knew this guy's stepping it up. Best backcourt in NBA history.
Now all of a sudden, it's like, where did Kyrie go?

Speaker 1 (05:18):
Somebody? Again?

Speaker 2 (05:19):
Speaking of three points, I saw a stat I saw
it on TikTok, so it has to be true.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
It has to be It was a meme, so it
has to be real.

Speaker 2 (05:27):
He said, what's more shocking to you the fact that
Shaquille O'Neal took only one three point shot in his
entire career?

Speaker 4 (05:35):
Right?

Speaker 1 (05:36):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (05:36):
Or that JJ Reddick had only one slam dunk in
his career. What's more shocking in their entire career. That's
a good one, I would say, You're like, what, really,
that's it?

Speaker 4 (05:48):
One?

Speaker 1 (05:48):
They both had one each was due three point shacks.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
I we should all know if it was only one,
was it a wide open, meaningless moment where shacks like
I'll take I don't know what I've seen it. I
just don't know if the moment was. It wasn't like
a significant moment. It was just some random shot. It
was like another I think it was off the glass too.
It was an ugly shot, but it went in so in.

Speaker 1 (06:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:11):
So I mean, now you confuse me, But what's more shocking?
I'm going with the fact that Shaq only had one
three point shot. JJ Reddick barely slammed on that shot. Huh,
that's a good one.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
It's good.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
It's a good TikTok hypothetically found, so don't think about
it anyway. We got Russell Wilson to talk about midweek major.
I am I a grown iPad kid. If we have time,
we'll get to all that. If not, you'll hear it
on our bonus podcast tomorrow. Over promise. Well, let's jump
into it as we get ready for the NBA Finals
Game three tonight. I say go MAVs, not that I'm
a fan like like we said though, just to make

(06:45):
it fun, like who who wants a who wants a
dog water? NBA Finals where toilet water bro where it's
it's nothing. So let's go MAVs. And uh, we lost
an NBA legend, So I think it's you know, fair
to say a legend of a guy that meant so
much to I wanted to dedicate our show to him,
but I didn't want to put that pressure on us.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
I want to honor the legends.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
Eighty six years old, the logo the face of the NBA,
Jerry West passed away at the age of eighty six.
Definitely going to honor him tonight, and which will be nice?
I said to Mike, who runs his place. Who Mike,
I said, Mike. Any speculation that ever that they would
at some point change the logo is done now because
this guy passed away.

Speaker 1 (07:28):
He's a legend. You don't do that when someone's gone.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
So I think I think the NBA logo, which is
Jerry West, but that side dribble, do you think that
lives forever now?

Speaker 1 (07:37):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (07:37):
Oh yeah, the moment to have the Jordan dunk replace it,
but that's already the Jordan logo. I think that Jerry
West will be part of NBA history forever, not only
because of what he's contributed on and off the court,
but he's the logo. The only one I could ever
see replacing that, and I don't think they should.

Speaker 1 (07:56):
I think it's a great logo.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
Is Kobe, probably because I've seen some and they look
they look good, and it's Kobe and they look good.
But Jerry West, this, yeah, it's just classic and legendary
at this point.

Speaker 5 (08:08):
And one of the many cool stories coming out today
about Jerry West is Stephen A said that back in
the day he was trying to make an argument on
TV or radio whichever one, that he thought Michael Jordan
should be the new logo. And when he met Jerry
West in person for the first time, Jerry West was like, hey, dude,
like you assume I would have a problem with that.
That's what it sounded like you were saying. I agree

(08:30):
with you. Michael Jordan's the best to ever do it.
Like I'd be okay with him being the logo. So
that's how humble Jerry West was.

Speaker 1 (08:38):
Now it's a great logo.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
Let it be, especially now eighty six years old with
his wife Karen, I believe at his bedside. So no detail,
no further details. Last I saw, I just imagine he's
eighty six. He had a legendary life.

Speaker 5 (08:53):
He's an old guy inducted into the Basketball Hall of
Fame in three different roles, which is amazing.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
That's insane.

Speaker 5 (09:00):
You can we hardly use the word icon for good reason.
You can't call a lot of people icons.

Speaker 6 (09:05):
But he is.

Speaker 1 (09:06):
No, yeah, that's amazing.

Speaker 3 (09:07):
So it's literally an icon.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, we're using that word the right way,
unlike every young twenty something.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
No, he literally is an icon. He is the icon,
he's the logo.

Speaker 2 (09:20):
Let me ask you a question about logos before we
talk some Aaron Rodgers Russes in the news. We'll talk
some like I said everything you're gonna ask me about logos. Yes,
I know there's an arrow and the FedEx logan.

Speaker 1 (09:29):
No, not that, not that. Yes, I know it's his
thirty one in Best and Robins.

Speaker 2 (09:33):
I do.

Speaker 6 (09:33):
What about the Chicago Bulls logo upside down?

Speaker 1 (09:36):
Upside down?

Speaker 2 (09:37):
Is a robot DJing robot having his way with a
cramp roe about reading a book.

Speaker 3 (09:41):
Yeah, in a while, it's both a forest and an
unidentifiable beast.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
Yeah, Milwaukee Brewers. Yes, I know it's a baseball glove.
I know the B and the B, the M and
the B.

Speaker 6 (09:52):
Milwaukee Brewers' kidding.

Speaker 1 (09:53):
Oh, what logo you want to give me on? Is
the MLB logo?

Speaker 6 (10:00):
Okay?

Speaker 1 (10:01):
A righty or a lefty? I always thought it was
a bird.

Speaker 3 (10:04):
I thought it was a bird too.

Speaker 1 (10:06):
It has a point those it's not a bird. No.
I always thought it was a bird holding a bat.

Speaker 5 (10:11):
Right.

Speaker 2 (10:12):
Um, that's a good one. He is clearly batting lefty. No,
I'm thinking righty.

Speaker 5 (10:19):
Nah.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
I think that's the whole point, and it's kind of
the point they did with the Jerry West logo too,
is like you can't tell what he and they're using
for either for either sport.

Speaker 1 (10:28):
It's a good point.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
Look at that the NBA logo all great logos, So again,
rest in peace. The silhouettes chosen by MLB lefty could
be righty or a lefty depending on how you look
at it. Contrary to Poppy or Believe, the silhouette was
not modeled after Harmon, Killer Brew or any specific player.
It's an ambiguous lefty or righty batterwitch up to interpretation switcher.

Speaker 1 (10:52):
Yeah, Bernie Williams, that's who it is.

Speaker 2 (10:54):
One of those like reverse optical illusions as the ballerina
spinning clockwise.

Speaker 1 (10:59):
Yeah, oh yeah, that is. Are you hearing green needle
or brainstorm?

Speaker 6 (11:04):
All right?

Speaker 1 (11:04):
Well, hey Aaron Rodgers, I want to talk about Aaron Rodgers.
Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 2 (11:10):
Apparently there's an announcement Manyana that means tomorrow. Grenghos locos
as to why he missed his mandatory practice yesterday. It
was a mandatory day, but again a misleading headline because
he let his coach know that he wasn't going to
be there. Now, because it was a mandatory day at camp,

(11:33):
he gets fine and whatever, but he said he had
an important personal thing to attend. The coach knew about it.
So therefore, in my opinion, it was all good because
I'm looking at it this way. For Aaron Rodgers to
have taken off, it had to be something like a
I don't know, like I said, an important graduation of sorts,

(11:55):
a family event, a family emergency, something where he felt
that he needed to be there.

Speaker 1 (12:01):
He told Roberts South and he told the coach, all right,
like you said, let's say he's not gonna hurt anybody.
Let's make it clear.

Speaker 2 (12:07):
This isn't like Dennis Rodman, where Phil Jackson and the
Bulls were like, where's Dennis Rodman?

Speaker 1 (12:11):
Is he alive? Is he in Vegas? And then he
shows up on Monday night nightro with hul kochin Now, now,
it's not like Rodman.

Speaker 2 (12:18):
In the nineties, Aaron Rodgers said, hey, coach, hey jets,
I'm willing to take the punishment or whatever the case
may BEMAA means you're missing.

Speaker 1 (12:27):
Aaron Rodgers is not missing.

Speaker 2 (12:29):
Don't put him on a milk cart and everybody Aaron
Rodgers has accounted for. He was just not at the
Jets practice for one day. Now here's what's interesting about it, too,
though he's making an announcement about what it was tomorrow now.
I don't think he owes anybody any explanation about where
he was and why his teammates. Of course, if he

(12:51):
wants to address the team as a leader, Hey, I'm
the leader of this team. Just so you guys know,
this is what happened. This is why I was out.
He doesn't owe the general public like Diddley Squat as
far as I'm concerned.

Speaker 1 (13:03):
That's how I say that.

Speaker 2 (13:04):
Not only does he owe us nothing, we can't pretend
that everyone is equal.

Speaker 1 (13:11):
That's like one of the.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
Craziest misconceptions in life, society, sports, business school.

Speaker 1 (13:18):
We're all equal. It's just not true.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
I agree with that statement, but nobody wants Nobody wants
to be reminded of what you're saying. But it's truth,
it's truth, but nobody wants it rubbed in their face. Eron,
if someone's walking around like they're better than me, I
want to remind him real quick that they're you know
that they're really No, I'm not saying Aaron Rodgers has
even done this with arrogance. Aaron Rodgers has played in
the league. I'll be honest. Some of the kids on

(13:45):
his team were in diapers when he started playing for
the Packers back in the day. This guy's a veteran.
If you don't think Aaron Rodgers wants to win, if
you don't think he did everything he could to bounce
back from that injury, if you don't think he's got
the fire in his stomach, you didn't watch Hard Knocks.

Speaker 1 (13:58):
This guy leads. We can make fun of him.

Speaker 2 (14:00):
People, could you know, knock Aaron Rodgers and the ayahuasca
and the vaccine stuff and oh he's you know, hanging
with Rugan rewind ready ugly plam yim rewind. When he
became part of the Jets organization, we commended him almost
every week for doing all the right things. He was
doing everything the right way to embrace New York and

(14:23):
every week it seemed like there was a new story
of man, what a great leader Aaron Rodgers is, and
we were giving him the credit for that. So you
have to rewind and remember that he was putting his
best foot forward every step of the way until he
got hurt. His track record has shown that while some
may make fun of him and he's the butt of

(14:44):
like a joke about drugs or vaccines or something, he
has done nothing but be a good teammate. The record
shows that everyone that played with Aaron Rodgers seems to
have liked Aaron Rodgers. Right, Yeah, you watched Hard Knocks.
All the young guys loved him too. On the Jets. Yeah, So,
I mean, we're talking about a guy that whether it
was his nephew's graduation, whether or not he reconciled with

(15:05):
his family, Remember he had a you know, they didn't talk.
What if there was a family trip and he's like,
I think it's time, or even if he wanted to
support a friends charity, an event, whatever it is.

Speaker 1 (15:17):
Whatever was important to him. Everybody has different priorities. Dude.

Speaker 2 (15:20):
Whatever it is important to Aaron Rodgers is none of
your business and affects the Jets twenty twenty four outcome
in no way at all. One afternoon of practice is
not making or breaking the New York Jets. The over
exaggerated overreactions I'm seeing in sports TV and radio, like, well,

(15:41):
he's a leader in the guy said this day, I
got something to do that means a lot to me.

Speaker 1 (15:47):
He's a twenty year veteran in the league. He deserves that.
I heard Colin Cowherd Stars. I heard him too. He
said trust your eyes.

Speaker 2 (15:59):
And you know my feelings on Colin. I think he's
the best in the game. Colin Damn Patrick. There's a
lot of big time superstars that work on this network.
Let me ask you guys a question. Every year at
the Super Bowl or big events for Fox Sports Radio, right,
we have a big sales Can I just say something?

Speaker 1 (16:19):
This is where I think you might lose me.

Speaker 6 (16:21):
Okay, ok.

Speaker 2 (16:22):
I'm just warning the Fox Sports Radio nation that I
was on Rich's page all up until I think right
about now, maybe continue carry on, proceed with the bar.
When we were in Vegas with the Super Bowl, there's
always one morning right where we have a little breakfast,

(16:43):
a little pow wow with sales and some big clients
and people that are that are making things happen here
for iHeart and Fox Correct.

Speaker 5 (16:49):
The talent are all fighting over coffee because they were
all out too late the night before.

Speaker 1 (16:53):
Oh I Ben Malan, what's up? Boddy? Hey? Jonas?

Speaker 2 (16:56):
Can I tell you I was so tired at the
one that we went to. It's the worst picture I
have of myself till this day. The worst picture I
have is from that morning because we're partying in Vegas.
Then we have to wake up bright and early for
a big sales meeting the following day.

Speaker 5 (17:14):
Yeah, at the NFL party was the night prior, and
so you have I remember you had raccoonized.

Speaker 2 (17:18):
Yeah, oh, like Clay Travis. Let's take a picture so
I could send it to my parents. I could hardly
raccoonize him.

Speaker 1 (17:23):
Yeah, you could barely racoonize me.

Speaker 2 (17:25):
The worst picture, I'm so tugh, I'm sleeping. I'm still sleeping.
And I a picture because Camino his mom and dad
like Clay Travis, and he's like, hey mom, muke HOLEM
hanging with and the SOO.

Speaker 1 (17:35):
Looks like he's sixty five years old.

Speaker 2 (17:37):
It's the worst photo I've ever seen him myself. Begin
twenty years of following every Super Bowl, there's a big
sales meeting that we all go to. Fox Sports ready
has this big early morning breakfast. Guess who doesn't have
to wake up early for that breakfast? Colin, your boy
and Dan because they've earned the ability to say, yeah,

(17:58):
I'm not going to go to that. You bring the
car to my show, we'll work it up. They've earned it.
They're the Aaron Rodgers in this scenario. No explanation needed. No,
here's the difference, Aaron Rodgers. I'm assuming Aaron Rodgers has
something important to do. I feel I'm not saying about
Colin or Dan, but I feel like if and when

(18:18):
I'm ever fortunate enough to be in that position, I'll
still show up.

Speaker 1 (18:23):
Any will Yeah, I will, because.

Speaker 2 (18:26):
I feel like that's the better way to lead, meaning like.

Speaker 1 (18:32):
Yo, I'm no better than anybody. I'm here. What's up, man?
How are you?

Speaker 2 (18:35):
I take it as good to see you at different
levels in your career. Remember Roger Clemens didn't take road
trips if he wasn't scheduled to pitch because it was like, yo,
the rockets on this team.

Speaker 1 (18:44):
Yeah, but you don't think that rubs some people the
wrong way? Idiots.

Speaker 2 (18:47):
Now, if you're not if people walk around like they're
better than you, that's not a great way to lead.

Speaker 1 (18:51):
I don't think it's better.

Speaker 2 (18:52):
People want to fight for and play for somebody that
is on their team, not the acts, not like the
person that acts like they're better than them, I know,
so I could see both sides. I think that's where
you're standing, right, Danny G. As far as Aaron Rodgers
j now, again, I think the difference here is he
had something important.

Speaker 1 (19:11):
I don't know what that was.

Speaker 2 (19:12):
So I'm gonna give him the pass on this because
he has a great track record of putting his team first.
There's no question to me that his priority is winning
with the Jets, so I have no problem with it.
But as far as leadership is concerned, the leader has
to be there, man, he has to be there always,
as far as i'm when when Travis Kelsey's out and
about traveling the world on an off day, on a

(19:35):
bye week or whatever he's doing to see Taylor Swift,
that's his priority.

Speaker 1 (19:38):
That's his girlfriend.

Speaker 2 (19:39):
That's the woman he loves, and he is the best
tight end arguably in the NFL now and maybe of
all time.

Speaker 1 (19:47):
You earn things, it doesn't make you arrogant.

Speaker 2 (19:50):
No, no, I'll give you. Let's dumb it down. Right,
You ever play on a team. I played on a
soccer team when I was a kid, Right, everyone you
think everyone that flies first class is arrogant?

Speaker 1 (19:58):
Or did they just earn it? I think they paid
for it.

Speaker 6 (20:01):
But I'm saying, but yeah, handed down to them.

Speaker 2 (20:04):
But by your thinking, by your thinking, you would be like, well,
why don't they just sit and coach with the roast
of us. Look, let me finish my story. I was
a little kid and I was playing soccer, just like
all the other little kids from Fantasy Island. What does
that have to do with the price of bananas? Just
paint the picture, so yeah, don't even get me started.
And every kid would show up to practice, just like

(20:27):
all the other kids. But there was one kid that
they rolled the red carpet out for. You know why,
they said this. This is the eighties, so they didn't
care about political correctness. He's so good he doesn't have
to practice, what you idiots is basically what they said.

Speaker 1 (20:40):
So he would only show up. He would only show
up on the games. And you know what, yeah, yeah, yeah,
we won.

Speaker 2 (20:46):
With the kid, but no one on a team really
liked the kid because we had no camaraderie with him.
Talking about a double little kid versus Aaron Rodgers, you're
missing the point. You clearly are a bozo. And really,
I'm saying, if you want to be a part of
the team, you're a part of the team. You're not
better than the team.

Speaker 5 (21:03):
Rich I just wanted to point out for your analogy
about the network's early morning Super Bowl breakfast, Dan Patrick
was still on the air while we were there.

Speaker 1 (21:12):
Happy that's a good point as well.

Speaker 2 (21:13):
Yeah, but also keep in mind, when you hit a
certain level in your career, you have a respect and
Aaron Rodgers has earned the ability to say, hey, guys,
one day, I'm not going to be there. You know why,
because I got some business to attend to. It doesn't
matter whether you agree with it or not. This guy
could have retired multiple years ago. Multiple times he's saying

(21:34):
I'm in it to win it, and he shows that
on the field. He shows that a practice one day.
What if it was his niece's communion, would you have
said that's not good enough? So this guy, I'm sure
there's other veterans there like, well, hey man, I could
have went to my nieces come in too, and I
didn't go. I'm not just giving you to flip some
by no means by an old guy, but I'm not young.

Speaker 1 (21:53):
I got to tell me, veterans, if.

Speaker 2 (21:54):
You're forty something at your job, you know what I
used to skip in my twenties Dann Bayer events, family functions, things,
because I was twenty four twenty three and I was like, yo,
I'm earning my keep. I'm making my way right now.
If my kid has a school performance or something going on,
I'm taking that day because that's more important to also work,
you know, around the clock, three sixty five days a year.

Speaker 1 (22:16):
Aaron rodderd They work season to season.

Speaker 7 (22:19):
Can I why didn't you guy? You guys have been
together for twenty years? Why did you show up for
the breakfast You've been in doing a radio show for
twenty years?

Speaker 2 (22:27):
Because I'm a team player and that's expected. I am
a brownnoser.

Speaker 1 (22:31):
Yeah, but I would also think it's because you've been
with Fox for two years.

Speaker 6 (22:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (22:36):
It's like where the rookie.

Speaker 7 (22:37):
Is just like Aaron Rodgers with the Jets. Everything that
he's done with the Green Bay Packers doesn't matter with
his new team, and that's why he needs to be there.

Speaker 1 (22:45):
Oh. I mean a great point.

Speaker 2 (22:48):
That's what responsibilities last season are we just ignoring that.
That's why these conversations are fun to speculate, because yes, ooh, yes,
I think he's earned it in his career to take
a day, But he's also rubbing other veterans the wrong way.
Perhaps he's setting a bad example for the rookies, Like
there's all different ways to look at these things. It's
not as black and white as you make it out

(23:09):
to be. Like, hey, I've earned it, now beat it.

Speaker 8 (23:12):
He did, Yeah, because had the previous season not fallen
apart the way it had, maybe, but it makes.

Speaker 2 (23:19):
I think it makes them look I think it makes
I think it makes them look more valuable, this team
without a baby.

Speaker 8 (23:23):
But this is the first day back after all the troubles,
after the fact that after his achilles.

Speaker 1 (23:29):
Injury he was at the non mandatories.

Speaker 8 (23:31):
But I'm saying like after that, this is the mandatory,
first one of the season, after a season that crumbled because.

Speaker 1 (23:39):
Mostly because of him.

Speaker 2 (23:40):
Yeah, so it might be it was over after the
fourth snap.

Speaker 8 (23:44):
To show camaraderie for the team that you are leading
to show up.

Speaker 2 (23:48):
All right, your thoughts and uh, we'll take your feedback
at Covino and Rich if you want to chime in
eight seven, seven, nine nine on Fox. I think a
fun conversation Aaron Rodgers, A great convers Aaron Rodgers, whether
it be him the veteran at your job, whether you're
twenty forty sixty, does it matter, is it respectful? Is
it earning that there's so many angles to this. We

(24:09):
would love to hear from you again. At Covina and Rich,
we got more coming up. We're talking some NBA. Russell
Wilson's in the news. I find it to be very
funny what he's saying about his time so far in Pittsburgh.

Speaker 1 (24:19):
All next right here Covino and Rich. Now, whether you're
headed to campus to see some college baseball? Meet up
with the old time No, I'm not going. You could
go alone. I have something to do that. Oh really,

Hey, we're Cavino and Rich Fox Sports Radio every day
five to seven pm Eastern. But here's the thing, we
never have enough time to get to everything we want
to get to and that's why we have a brand
new podcast called over Promised. You see, we're having so
much fun in our two hour show. We never get
to everything, honestly, because this guy is over promising things

(25:56):
we never have time for.

Speaker 1 (25:57):
Yeah, you blubber list name in me.

Speaker 2 (25:58):
Well, you know what it's called the over promise. You
should be good at it because you've been over promising
women for years. Well, it's a Covino and Rich after show,
and we want you to be a part of it.
We're gonna be talking sports, of course, but we're also
going to talk life and relationships. And if Rich and
I are arguing about something or we didn't have enough time,
it will continue on our after show called over Promised. Well,
if you don't get enough Covino and Rich, make sure

(26:19):
you check out over Promised and also uncensored, by the way,
so maybe we'll go at it even a little harder.
It's gonna be the best after show podcast of all time.
There you go, over promising. Remember you could see it
on YouTube, but definitely join us. Listen Over Promised with
Covino and Rich on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or
wherever you get your podcasts. So I have a question

(26:43):
for you. What does Russell Wilson and Ponce de Leon
have in common?

Speaker 1 (26:48):
Paunce de Leon? I know you looked at up because
you're not.

Speaker 3 (26:52):
Are you serious you think I looked that up?

Speaker 1 (26:54):
Speak for yourself, Gonberger.

Speaker 3 (26:58):
Just because this civicness of Punks dal Leon.

Speaker 1 (27:02):
What person doesn't all that thought?

Speaker 2 (27:04):
What the significance of pont de Russ and Paunt stan
leone have in common. We'll explain, plus a midweek majorvy.
But now no scurvy is not the answer.

Speaker 1 (27:15):
We'll get to that, and then next what do Kelsey
and Vespucci? I can't wait.

Speaker 2 (27:20):
Later we're Covino Rich, We'll got Verrizanno and uh oh
and who who Verrizano? We'll talk about Aaron Rodgers. Someone
on the jet right well, arizonal Bridge, do you think
about it? We're live from the Tirack dot com studios
and right now we're discussing Aaron Rodgers, Covino and Rich
with Danny g and Spotty and Prefet and Dan Bayer.

(27:41):
And what I was trying to get at is it's
not all black and white, and we don't know the
answers yet, even though that Mike who runs his place
has some fun speculation. Aaron Rodgers missed the first day
of mandatory camp, but the headline.

Speaker 1 (27:56):
Was he was m i a.

Speaker 2 (27:58):
The truth is that he told Sala that he was
taking the day off, but it was mandatory, so he's fine.
He's gonna announce tomorrow why he wasn't there. Well, my
point was he doesn't owe us the explanation. He owes
his teammates explain. If they're okay, then we should just
all zip it. So then we started breaking down, like,
how do you feel about him missing the practice? How

(28:19):
do you feel when leaders aren't there? You know, and
no one, I said, no one wants to be reminded that, oh,
you're better than me. I don't like that vibe. And
if and when I ever get to that point where
you know, I'm considered a leader or one of the
big dogs. Dude, Yo, you want to show up and
show people that you're still in it with them. You
don't want to appear like you're better, because then they

(28:39):
don't want to play for you. And I could see
both sides of his story. So we were breaking it down.
If you want to chime in, it's eight seven, seven
ninety nine on Fox. I have other examples. I was
gonna say, Mike, who runs his place? You didn't finish
he he was speculating that forget RFK, Aaron was meeting
to be Trump's VP, it does matter what he was doing.

Speaker 1 (29:00):
I was gonna ask if it's something family related, But.

Speaker 2 (29:03):
Again, priorities are we specific to everybody, but it doesn't matter.
Live in a world now where every major company, any
publicly traded company, is all about take a mental health
day if you want. Oh if you need a day
to refresh. Oh oh your kids school play, Oh go go.
Maybe he's in Turkey getting hair plugs.

Speaker 1 (29:20):
Who knows.

Speaker 6 (29:21):
I feel like it's going to be a better conversation tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (29:24):
Oh yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (29:25):
So how about this though, Like it's relatable to everybody,
you know. Like let's say your company's having a big
holiday party or whatever, and every company has that big dog.
Then everyone is like, oh, he's the guy, he's the
cool guy at the office. Sometimes that guy doesn't come
because he's too cool or he's too busy, and that

(29:45):
rubs me the wrong way. It does, well, then it
must have rubbed you the wrong way than when we
worked at Sirius XM for seventeen years together and Howard
Stern had his own elevator, his own locked off area. Bingo,
I'm saying. I'm just saying. I have eyes, I have feelings.
I notice things, and it's not a good look all
the time. I understand because I have a brain and

(30:07):
I can comprehend. Not everybody's on the same pace scale,
but it rubs people the.

Speaker 8 (30:11):
Wrong way to synology because it's a team sport. Yes,
like we shows can be islands, you know, where everyone's
kind of their own little entity. We're our own little
crew here, even though we were part of a bigger entity.

Speaker 2 (30:24):
But yeah, teams, but when you're fighting together, you don't
put yourself on the owner.

Speaker 8 (30:30):
And there needs to you know, it's everyone needs to participate.

Speaker 5 (30:34):
To your point, this is why Russell Wilson had problems
in Denver with his own office and and all that stuff.

Speaker 6 (30:41):
That had to get fixed with the new head coach.

Speaker 7 (30:45):
Maybe God forbid, you want your quarterback to be working
long hours in an office studying the game plan and whatnot.
But the point about Rogers, couldn't you put this all
to rest by letting us know what he's doing? Like
this seems to be that he's drawn it out for
us to do this exact thing. And then tomorrow you
mentioned Trump. It feels like he's got a Trump card

(31:07):
that he's all gonna like, haha, you guys talked about me,
this is why I was gone, And then he's gonna
look again like he likes to be the smartest guy
in the room.

Speaker 2 (31:16):
That's what you either hate or love about Aaron. Yeah,
we fell in the trap. Look, everybody's talking about it,
absolutely everyone. We wait, if we found out it was
two days and tomorrow will be.

Speaker 7 (31:28):
Three, So it will be three days. Yes, so it's yesterday, today,
and tomorrow. He's not going to be there. But why
couldn't you announce today on why you are missing these
three days? And then we understand and maybe talk about that.
But I feel like he just wants to get you
in some sort of gotcha moment?

Speaker 3 (31:45):
Just what does what does he win? Like that's that's
the thing that frustrates me the most thing about Okay,
but like that attention is what He's one of the
best known quarterbacks in the league. What more attention could
you possibly want? Like like this is this is like
what I I don't I don't feel like you pulled
one over announced he always does.

Speaker 2 (32:05):
I think he's But if he shows up tonight on
the Savannah Banas or something, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (32:10):
Now he's gonna show up on Pat McAfee, he's gonna
mumble a little bit, he's gonna talk about how clever
he was over everyone else. Everyone's paying attention to him.
And that's going to be that we're we just have
to just groan once again. It's old man, it's so annoying.

Speaker 8 (32:23):
I hope the obviously, I hope the outcome is not
the same. But this is reminiscent of what happened. Was
it a couple of months ago with Kate Middleton where
everyone had that speculation in the.

Speaker 1 (32:31):
Media what was she doing? Were wash Why isn't she
making appearance? And she was sick?

Speaker 8 (32:36):
And I looked like idiots when she made that announcement,
even though we think it's a I when she made
that announcement.

Speaker 3 (32:43):
At least don't you think at this point we've hit
the boy who cried wolf too many times?

Speaker 1 (32:48):
Yes, you know what, I hope. Look, it's fun. I
hope it is. It is silly set, it is silly
fund vaculation.

Speaker 2 (32:55):
Would rather talk about that than you know, breaking down
someone's stats or something. But but I will say this,
I will say the best outcome I think would be
what if he's like, you know, I've done a lot
of soul searching, and what if he reconciled with his
brother and his family and everything, Because remember Aaron Rodgers
and the family don't really communicate I'm giving that less
than one percent chance. Okay, maybe so all right, let's

(33:16):
get to Dan Buyer for an update. D B what's
up man.

Speaker 7 (33:19):
Guys Celtics and MAVs today, Game three of the NBA Finals,
but the scene shifts to Dallas tip off eight thirty
Eastern time. Christaps Porzingis remains questionable for Boston because of
that leg injury. The sad news to start the day
is Jerry West, the Basketball Hall of Famer, died at
the age of eighty six. Enshrined in the Hall as
a player and as an executive, and most notably the silhouette,

(33:40):
as he remains the logo of the NBA. Aside from
his great playing career that saw him go to nine
NBA Finals and win a tunnel with the Lakers in
nineteen seventy two, also was one heck of an executive,
spending time with the Clippers, Warriors, Grizzlies, and most notably
the architect of those Lakers showtime teams from the eighties.
Jerry westad at the age of eighty six. Other NFL

(34:00):
news outside of Aaron Rodgers, the Bills on rookie wide
receiver Keon Coleman, to his rookie deal, while veteran Tenna
and Jimmy Graham wants to speak with the Saints before
determining whether he wants to play another season or retire.
Says New Orleans is the only place that he would
like to play. Leo Messi said that Inner Miami will
be the last club that he plays for, as he
admitted there wasn't a lot of time left in his career.

(34:21):
Summer games in Paris this summer will feature an interesting
pairing in men's doubles in the tennis program, as Rafael
nadaland Carlos Elcarez will team up to be a duo
for Spain.

Speaker 1 (34:33):
Who is beating them? Yeah right, nobody just give give
him the medal? Yeah yeah.

Speaker 7 (34:41):
Brewers beat the Blue Jays today five to four, while
the Twins had some fun with the Rockies clinging miss
and this one.

Speaker 1 (34:48):
At long last is over.

Speaker 9 (34:49):
Jackson ends up staking out three in the ninth inning,
a run on two hits four the visiting Rockies and
the Twins win this one by the final of seventeen
to nine.

Speaker 7 (35:00):
Dr As Your Island Baseball Network, every Twin that saw
a plate appearance today knocked in a run and that's
seventeen a's and pods dot at two and the six
Giant sleeve the Astros five to three in the eighth guys.

Speaker 1 (35:10):
Back to you, DBC, Skeens had another gem yesterday? Huh
yeah too? Is it had a gem? Anaho?

Speaker 2 (35:16):
I've seen a few people in the baseball world say,
don't count out if he keeps it going, like there's
no clear cy Young in the n L, Like what if?

Speaker 1 (35:22):
What if the Pirates make a playoff front?

Speaker 7 (35:24):
I was just even thinking short term. Last year, I
felt like Elie de la Cruz should have gone to
the All Star Game because of the fervor that he
had last year. Like if Skeens has got to be
there for Pittsburgh, like absolutely, like there's there's there's a
no doubt or even though he joined the team you
know later in the season, for sure.

Speaker 1 (35:40):
Thank you d B. All right, we have more Covene
on Writch.

Speaker 2 (35:43):
We're going to talk about Russ and how is Russell
Wilson like Paul ste leone what a tease.

Speaker 1 (35:48):
We'll get to that.

Speaker 2 (35:49):
Plus uh, mid midweek major with spot and everything else
going on in the world of the NBA Finals tonight
more Covene on retch next right here on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (36:00):
Covino and Rich.

Speaker 2 (36:02):
By the way, just a reminder, we're approaching Father's Day weekend,
so remember to just not bother your father. And if
your father just asked to not be bothered this coming weekend,
that's all, and buy a card or something like that.
Covino and Rich. We're dad's dads just want everyone to

(36:22):
get along. Yeah, they want. My dad would say, hey,
I just don't want nobody busting my chops, and.

Speaker 1 (36:29):
That's all we really want.

Speaker 2 (36:30):
And I bring that up because I'm heading back east
this weekend for Father's Day weekend, hang out with my
daughter and my dad and have a nice weekend, which
means I'm not gonna be here on Tuesday, right, Why
I'm gonna make that announcement on Wednesday.

Speaker 1 (36:45):
But but yeah, I won't be here on Tuesday. That
is the truth. But tell us why.

Speaker 2 (36:51):
I'll let you know on Wednesday, big announcement, and uh,
I think you will that. I think I'm like Aaron Rodgers,
bro I don't know anybody anything.

Speaker 6 (36:59):
I say all the right. Most of us should get
that day off too.

Speaker 2 (37:02):
No, No, you'll find out why on Wednesday that's that
is pretty wild, and you think about it, he.

Speaker 1 (37:06):
Really is dangling that news.

Speaker 2 (37:08):
It's Cavino and Rich on Fox Sports Radio Live from
the Tyraq dot Com studios. Aaron Rodgers announces why tomorrow.
I mean, there's so many easy ways right social media,
There's so many ways where he could just simply tell
us what the deal is. But then spot brings up
a good point. For all we know it's something serious
and we're all going.

Speaker 1 (37:26):
To feel bad about it. We don't know. We don't know.

Speaker 2 (37:28):
Maybe somebody died. We don't know, you don't know. I
want to do I want to thank him why because whether,
like I said, whether you roll your eyes or aggravated
you're like this guy's ego, or you love him, however
you feel about Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 1 (37:43):
He's fun to talk about.

Speaker 2 (37:44):
He provides fun content in an otherwise you know, boring
June day in the world of sports, where again NBA Finals.
But besides that, it was the big story this week
with this week Joey Chess not on hot dogs.

Speaker 1 (37:57):
That was a big st something. You know what, Aaron Rodgers,
I want to thank you. I got a mid week
major update. By the way, oh I can't wait update.
Yeah you got Oh wait till you hear this. It's huge,
So stick around again, baite.

Speaker 2 (38:09):
That's got Midweek major the biggest stories in the world
of sports and pop culture.

Speaker 1 (38:12):
We do that every Wednesday.

Speaker 2 (38:14):
But I thought you when you said you got updates
on buns, I thought it was something different. Well too,
if you want that, all right, do you wanna talk
about Russell Wilson or do you want to get some
feedback going ag you have any final thoughts about Aaron Rodgers,
because I feel like you were leaning towards Yeah, he's
rubbing people the wrong way.

Speaker 5 (38:35):
Yeah, but remember in our pre show meeting, I said,
I think when he announces what the actual reason is tomorrow,
that'll be the time to really have the discussion about it.

Speaker 6 (38:46):
Blindly right now.

Speaker 5 (38:48):
Yeah, you can't blindly attack a guy when you don't
know exactly what's going on.

Speaker 2 (38:51):
Ye dude, For all we know, he's uh kitting died
and he's distraught and we're gonna be like really, but hey,
whatever it is for him a little we don't know. Yeah,
we don't know. Well, hey we'll find out. Like you said,
Russell Wilson, how is he like Ponce? De Leon, as
you said, which by the way, might have been one

(39:12):
of the few explorer names you remember as a kid. Right,
of course, are we're going through explorers in elementary school?

Speaker 1 (39:17):
Yes, of course.

Speaker 6 (39:19):
They both dated race car drivers.

Speaker 1 (39:21):
No, no that's not true. No, no, that's not it.

Speaker 2 (39:26):
They are similar because Russell Wilson has claimed that he's
found the Fountain of youth.

Speaker 3 (39:34):
Well, hold on, poncete Leon never found the fountain of youth.

Speaker 2 (39:36):
They never found it, but yeah, they had that in comedy,
were both searching for it.

Speaker 3 (39:40):
So I think Russell's not going to find the fountain
of youth, is what you're saying.

Speaker 1 (39:44):
Oh well, he says he has.

Speaker 8 (39:45):
Maybe he didn't. He just didn't want to share it
with anybody. He's living life as a young guy. Do
you ever think about that?

Speaker 1 (39:50):
Ponce de leone man, you failed history class? Maybe I'm
ponstant Leone. How did I feel his look at his face?

Speaker 2 (39:57):
I feeled recess because you don't blame becau, I don't play.
But how do you feel about russ saying the following
Russell Wilson said that he feels revived in every way
and that he has found the fountain of youth after
joining the Steelers. Rebirth in Pittsburgh, the rebirth of Slick

(40:18):
Sierra doing that one two step bringing her goodies to Pittsburgh.
And you know, Russ gotta be happy about the fact
that Seattle won a Super Bowl. Great chapter should have
won two Denver disaster. This is an opportunity for Russell
Wilson to really it's a new star, it's a clean slave,
to really show that I got some guests in the

(40:38):
tank as a good team around him. Keep in mind
that Mike Tomlin, who is invincible, the guy you know
Pittsburgh's had three coaches in the history of their franchise.

Speaker 1 (40:46):
He's been doing this since you Uh.

Speaker 2 (40:48):
I saw a young manser of when he first signed recently?

Speaker 1 (40:52):
Did you see that?

Speaker 2 (40:53):
I saw it on social media like when he first
signed in a picture now and like he still looks
good now, but man, he was like a did he look.

Speaker 1 (41:00):
Like Omar EPs then? As well? Baby Omar Epps?

Speaker 5 (41:03):
How much of this, though, could be him hyping things
up to gain some momentum to beat out Justin Fields.

Speaker 2 (41:10):
Oh that's great, that's great speculations, some good self hype.
And I do wonder though, like, can you think though,
here's the question. We could draw from all four major sports,
and that includes hot dog getting hockey, baseball, basketball, football,
you could say tennis, you could say golf, Tiger Woods
a couple of years ago. Do you think every great

(41:31):
athlete has it in them to give one last great push?

Speaker 1 (41:37):
And I want to hear the times where you remember, like, you.
