Speaker 3 (00:19):
Woo.
Speaker 1 (00:20):
Yeah, that's us, Covino and Rich. What's a buddy?
Speaker 2 (00:24):
Tight like Lelo and Stitch, but not as tight as
that shirt Rich is wearing.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
And Stitch.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
Yeah, that came out I think when I was in college. Yeah,
I never saw it, never watch it, And now my daughter,
I'm not sure how tight it is. He's obsessed with
Lelan Stitch and that was her theme for her birthday party.
Not a bad movie, but hey, I always say that
those four years you're in college, whatever comes out on
TV or the movie theater, it's a good chat. You
miss stuff because you were busy, like chasing Moody and
(00:50):
studying and drinking and partying.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
Like I can't even talk about when I was I
was busy. Yeah. So anyway, we're live from the ti
rack dot com studios. Hope you're having a great day.
Let's go oh Covino. That's me, Rich Davis, Danny g Profet.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
Dan Byer spots on the videos getting ready for Midweek
Major again. Please play along at home, check our videos,
say something cool or not. Just get involved at Covino
and Rich at Fox Sports Radio when you're checking out
our stuff. You know, I'll prioritize myself at Covino and Rich.
But I did retweet a really cool Dan Patrick club.
(01:24):
We're big fans of Dan. In fact, I think we're
gonna be filling in for him a bunch this July,
you know, when people take some vacation. So, Dan Patrick
was talking to Laurence Fishburn. Oh, Larry, I love Larry Fishburn.
You mean cowboy Curtis. Wait, we've had on the show,
great guy, Larry Fishburn, Lawrence Hey, cowboy Curtis.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
Hey pee weee.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
Does everybody know that Laurence Fishburn was Cowboy Curtis from
Pewey's Playhouse?
Speaker 1 (01:54):
That's common knowledge, right, I think?
Speaker 4 (01:56):
So?
Speaker 2 (01:57):
I mean, I think not everybody knows that Dan Byer
was Cherry, though not people don't know that I'm Cherry.
But he was talking to Lawrence Fishburn, and this just
shows you, you know, we all have those friends or
family members that aren't into sports, and you're like, well,
what do you watch?
Speaker 1 (02:11):
What do you talk about?
Speaker 2 (02:13):
Lawrence fishburn in this Dan Patrick clip, who I love
Dan Patrick Show. I guess we'll be filling in a
few weeks. I'm pretty sure said he had no clue
who Doc Rivers was when he got the part. He's like,
all right, now, who's Doc Rivers? I love that about him?
Speaker 1 (02:27):
And Larry's like, I don't watch sports. So he went
to a barbecue.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
He invited Laurence fishburn invited Doc Rivers and a mutual
friend over his house for a cookout, and he observed
Doc Rivers arguing at this barbecue, I get a fun way,
like you know, busting chops. And he's like, I was
just watching him and he was talking to Dan Patrick
about how it was easier to play Doc Rivers, having
no preconceived notion of Doc Rivers. He's showing what a
(02:54):
great actor, what a great actor Laurence Fishburne is. And
if you're not watching that show, get off yours and
watch it. It's besides the NBA Finals and some hockey
here and there. Clipped three episodes in on Hulu FX fantastic.
Would you say this would be a second wind for
Lawrence Fishburns. I haven't seen him in much. I know
he hosts that stuff on the History Channel.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
It's like a twentieth win. I I mean, I'm just
trying to get back to this, Russell Wilson.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
It's Ed O'Neil's third win after Marriati Children, Modern Family,
and now this.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
But Russell Wilson never heard of them. That's what we're
talking about. Spot you have to play in the show.
Oh so careno enriched But Russell Wilson. Look, Russell Wilson says,
and Danny g makes a great point. Maybe he's just
trying to strategy strategically make a case that he's feeling
second in life, so that he's the guy for the Steelers.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
But you know what, because the sentiment really would be
maybe you start with Russ, but if anyone's going to prevail,
it's probably the younger, justin Fields. So maybe Russe is
saying this to be like, hey everyone, I'm feeling young.
He was creating the narrative right that, Hey, I found
the fountain of youth. So I think that's a great
way to start things. I think it's a great way
(04:10):
to think.
Speaker 5 (04:11):
You know.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
I think we've seen a lot of examples of people
who seemed done and then they came back. I think
at the Fight Game a lot of times people who
you may have thought were done and they came back.
I don't want to give away all the examples. So
you know, we get you involved at a seven to
seven ninety nine on Fox and at kiv wan O
and Rich. But you mentioned Gino Smith. You thought he
was kind of done and found second life, second win
(04:33):
in Seattle nine.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
Done, I mean kind of done Gino Smith, everyone thought
was done.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
Yeah, but again he proved you wrong. I got he
wasn't I got. I got a couple of good ones
for you. But again, I don't want to take all
your answers. So if you want to chime in eight seven, seven,
nine to nine on Fox, I'll give you two that
come to mind. And you could add to the list
people who genuinely have seem to have found the fountain
(05:01):
of youth in sports. You could say actors, movies, rock stars. Hey,
sometimes you need to shake things up for that feeling,
for that motivation. So Vester Sloane on some documentary I
saw about him. He's like, yeah, like I'm moving from
moving from the West coast to you gotta shake things up,
stay motivated. Absolutely, like he's moving his life because sometimes
(05:24):
you just need a fresh start. And that could help
Russell Wilson here. I mean, you could say he had
it in Denver, but maybe it just wasn't a good fit.
Stallone said, just in life, forget about sports too. In life,
sometimes you just need to clean the.
Speaker 1 (05:39):
Slate, shake things up because it revives you, revitalizes you.
I love you that second win, that win beneath your wing.
I loved our time at Serious xm Our time at ESPN.
I feel like we got we got some new energy
here at Fox Sports Radio, no question. I'll give you
a couple other people that are in that.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
Russell Wilson fount in the Youth Conversation, boxer Anthony Joshua. Yeah,
without a doubt, Anthony Joshua seemed unbeatable for he to eating,
Andy Ruiz knocked him on his ass and was like,
oh my god, what happened? And then he ended up
losing to Usak twice. And now you see how good
(06:20):
Usak is. He'd beat Tyson Fury, So there's no real
shame in losing to Usak two close fights. But now
Anthony Joshua many people thought was done. He's won four
fights in a row. And Anthony Joshua is right there
and he top of the Headyway division, knocked out Fransis
in Ghanu. So yeah, he seems to be back. And
(06:41):
then some people say, don't call it a comeback. I've
been here for years. You know, maybe he was never done.
We just thought he was done, but he proved everybody
else otherwise.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
An example that comes to mind for me, and again,
we'll take your phone calls, and I think it's great inspiration.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
It's great motivation. Like if you feel stale in your routine,
you might need a new change of scenery. It could
be a new job, could be a new relationship. You know,
a new relationship could revitalize you all of a sudden.
You bought new clothes, you got a haircut. Look at you, man,
you look alive again. It could be it could be anything.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
Dude, I thought Matt Carpenter found that with the Yankees
a few years ago before he got injured again.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
But dude, everybody thought that guy was done. Remember the
saying was he fell off a cliff forgot how to
had a hit. All of a sudden, he's hitting bombs
with the Yankees again. Uh, Jean Carlos Stanton, not that
he was done, but guess what, ines yo, he's he's
got what sixteen dongs right now? Oh oh yeah, bombs?
(07:40):
Oh sorry, bomb. I got a couple that I'll throw
in the mix too. Baseball pitcher that we all thought
was done though, Stick a fork in them parties over
Chris Sale. Chris Sale is eight, he's eight and two.
A whip under one. This guy's bringing it. So Sale
found his momentum and his mojo on the mound again,
(08:02):
I got one for you. And last year in the NFL,
a guy that's on the big deal that we all thought, eh,
you know, you know, nice sweet commercials, Baker, but you
may be done on the field. Baker Mayfield found new
life in Tampa where you sort of wrote that guy off.
Speaker 6 (08:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
Maybe it's an adjustment, like you said, change of scenery,
but you found something. You found your second life, your
second wind, your fountain of youth.
Speaker 1 (08:25):
Mike who runs this place, you know, Mike, He the sick.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
Stone Cole Steve Boston, Yeah, who never heard of he
rides his mountain bike to the office. He says, rich
and Keel remember, like he was a guy who you
remember the story of Rich and Keel. You called him rich,
I call him Rick Rick and Keel you call him
Richie and Keel call him Richie. I knew him was
rich You guys are palaces. But yeah, reinventing yourself. You know,
you lose the strike zone. You find uh, oh, this
(08:49):
guy can hit.
Speaker 1 (08:49):
Let's put put him in center field exactly. You know,
rich I have one.
Speaker 7 (08:55):
I think he was out of baseball for like a
year back in twenty ten, came back for your Mets
and torn sixteen. Bartolo Cologne.
Speaker 2 (09:02):
Yeo, Bartolo, reinventing yourself, reinventing fan favorite. Who doesn't love
Bartolo Cologne. Players that have found the fount of youth
that they've adjusted their game, Like you said, it could
be a guy that you're like, wow, he had one
or two off years. You know, at the very end,
I know this is a stretch, so this isn't a
(09:22):
great example, but it was cool to see Poolholso to
end on a high note like he had. He had
a great final season because he had become a shell
of what he was and then remember the home run derby.
He made it to like the finals and it's like, Yo,
Albert found his stroke enough to end on a on
a pretty reputable note.
Speaker 1 (09:42):
You're thinking hard, aren't you. No, I had one and
then it's slipped my mind, but I wanted to go
to the phones anyway. I think it's a It's a
great approach for Russell Wilson, though, is it? Is it true?
Speaker 2 (09:53):
He could feel that way now? So I'm not saying
he's lying about it because he's probably excited. He's got
a new haircut, he got rid of the uh rid
of the soul glow look he had going on. He's
got it, you know, nice and tight. Now he's got
new colors, new uniform, new city, new fans, so he's
probably feeling all of this. I'm not denying that, but
we don't see if it's true until the games start.
(10:15):
Think hard, because you're you're a big you know, bigger
than all of us. You're a big boxing and mma, guys,
is there someone in the in the vein of an
Andy Ruiz or you know a guy that for for
you know, most fans thought he's sort of done and
then he all of a sudden, He's like, no, not
so fast, I got some gas in the tank. I think, yeah,
(10:36):
there's there's so many examples of that, but I want
to go to the phones. Eight seven, seven ninety nine
on Fox, A lot of people are calling up about this,
about the second wind as second chance at proven everybody
who counted you out wrong. And what's cool about it
is you know, deep down the side whether or not
if you still got it.
Speaker 1 (10:53):
So who do we got?
Speaker 2 (10:55):
Let's say, what's up to Matt in South Dakota? Matt,
you're almost conveno on Retchay Buddy Yop, Hey, hey Matt, Matt? Right,
Oh see, we say goodbye to Matt, but do you
ever know what happened to him?
Speaker 1 (11:14):
Matt?
Speaker 2 (11:14):
Somebody should check on Matt. Yeah, it's like that comedian
one of the best bets. So is Mitch Heedbard, bitch Heedburg.
He goes, people will beat a rush of Johnson Party
of five, and then no one answers.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
They move on to the next person. He's like, is
no one going to check on Johnson Party of five?
Where are they talking? Nobody ever cares? No one cares
about Johnson Party of five. I hope Matt's all right,
Terry in Mississippi? What's up? Terry?
Speaker 4 (11:38):
Want to smoke themselves to coat of me?
Speaker 1 (11:40):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (11:41):
I know, now you know he stole kind of one
of man.
Speaker 9 (11:46):
But I'll tell you what if you watch him on
streaming on tickets Amazon, False King with Sylvester Saloon's Awesome
show Man. And then the other is Harrison Ford Man.
Speaker 4 (11:58):
That guy just keeps on.
Speaker 1 (11:59):
Keeping, just when you think it might be like, yeah,
he's done, He's still got the juice. Huh.
Speaker 2 (12:04):
Thanks again. This transcends sports. This is about life, and
that's what makes the Russell Wilson thing motivating. Makes you
want to root for the guy, like, hey, yeah, I'm
down to see this comeback. I'm a bit biased, yeah,
because I'm an East Coast guy. Originally I grew up
on Long Island, so you could say totally jaded. But
(12:24):
Billy Joel's song he put out this year really is
a song that could have been in with like seventies
and eighties old school Billy Joel spot I feel like
you agree with me? That turn the lights back on.
Billy Joel's song this year wasn't some cheesy ah we
feel bad, we feel oh it's Billy, just listen. I
think it was a good song, like he found it
in him with his co writer to make one more
(12:45):
good pop song. I think Travolta is a good answer
to you know, speaking of actors, not now, not recently,
but people counted him out before Quentin Tarantino put him
back in pulp fiction. He did a lick uluk Who's
talk stuff, but he really got his second win and
reinvented him again. It's all about reinventing yourself too. Yeah,
(13:07):
with that with Don Johnson, remember Don Johnson was cool again.
Quentin Tarantino is known for taking guys like that that
he counted out. I think his next project was Luke Perry.
Before he passed away, he did include him in some projects.
But again it's it's that if I'm not mistaken. Bartolo
Cologne was a great example of reinventing what he did
(13:27):
because he used to throw hard and he developed, you know,
all this junk and reinvented his game. You have to
be able to reinvent yourself too in a lot of ways,
and I think that's what Travalta did. We saw him
in a different light and it was a a great
comeback for the guy when people counted him out.
Speaker 1 (13:43):
Let's go to Dave and Missouri. David, what's up a Bud?
Speaker 2 (13:47):
Anybody who comes to mind found when you were talking
about Fountain Youth.
Speaker 1 (13:50):
Yeah, well it's not sports, but it's acting.
Speaker 8 (13:54):
Tell me you don't think that, Danny the video was
Frank Reynolds instead of Matilda or Twin with doronold sports.
Speaker 2 (14:00):
You know, Always Sonny took the veto And you're right,
Danny Dvido. I would think of twins and Taxi and
you know, a couple of eighties things. But yeah, Danny
Dido had a whole, you know, whole new world with
Always Sonny on that. Let's go to your phone calls,
Danny g lining up all the calls. Let's go to
(14:21):
I want to go Travis and l A. He had
a quick thought about Aaron Rodgers and maybe he'll chime
in on this too. What's up Travis?
Speaker 8 (14:27):
Yeah, and with the Fountain. The thing about Travolta, though,
is now all I think about is that drop where
he mispronounced that lady's name Adele.
Speaker 3 (14:38):
That was bad.
Speaker 1 (14:39):
That was bad. He needs to redeem himself from that too.
I agree, what's up Man, Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 8 (14:44):
For Aaron Rodgers. You know why he missed practice, right?
Why is that he was sampling Vegan hot dogs with
Joey Chestnut.
Speaker 1 (14:53):
Big update by the way, Big update is a big
update for major. Oh can't wait? Thank you, Travis, so hey,
thank think about it.
Speaker 2 (15:00):
Chime in at eight seven, seven, nine nine m Fox
So you could hit us up at Covine on Rich.
You know, you look at that division, the AFC North
and ah Man we were talking about last week. That
division is so competitive that you could make a genuine
argument for either of the teams, that any of the
teams in that division to win it, right, Hey, Lamar Jackson.
(15:22):
They were favored to go represent the AFC last year
and they had it. They you know, had a bad
playoff game. The Bengals get Joe Burrow back. The Browns
are going to have their first full season of Deshaun Watson,
and the Steelers made the postseason last year with who
a quarterback? Now they got Russ and Justin Fields to
(15:44):
see what they got. I think the AFC North is
going to be unbelievably fun to watch. So hey, imagine
so let me ask you this. I wrote down this
one final, no.
Speaker 1 (15:54):
Wonder and if you really could, if you really lost
a step, Unless Russell Wilson has reinvented himself and changed
his game, is he just thinking positive right now?
Speaker 6 (16:04):
Like?
Speaker 1 (16:04):
Can you really find the fountain of youth?
Speaker 2 (16:09):
Can I Tyson find it one more time against Jake Paul?
I mean, he'll never be Mike Tyson that we remember,
but could he could he find? Could he find you know,
when Connor McGregor comes back, could he really be that
guy again?
Speaker 1 (16:21):
Does he really want to be that guy again? It's
not easy. It's a great mindset to have, but in
reality it happens so few and far between.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
You might have one great moment, you know, George Foreman
is a great example of that. You might have to
go on, Yeah, George for really brought him back no knockout,
like you know, finding that fountain of youth? Do you
still have it? But are you willing to readjust your game?
That's really the key here. So while we take the
(16:50):
rest of the phone calls, let me pose a final
tier to this question. If Russell Wilson has found the
fountain of youth a la constant leone, like you said earlier,
what is the expectation. Mike Tomlin just signs an extension.
He's there, hasn't finished under five hundred ever, are you
Are you saying, Russ healthy, Russ fountain of youth. This
(17:13):
is a ten plus win team that makes the playoffs.
That's what they're Yeah, that's what if you're a Steelers fan.
Speaker 1 (17:18):
You might even make that quarterback decision soon though, like,
because you need to figure that out before we uh
even start speculating on that.
Speaker 2 (17:26):
I'm so intrigued. Usually I'm not intrigued by Pittsburgh to
be honest. It's one of those teams that just sort
of exists in my mind, Like I'm you know, they
haven't been the most exciting in my mind.
Speaker 1 (17:37):
But now it is. All right, let's go to Matt.
He's back in South Dakota. Thank goodness. Hi, Matt. Yeah, yeah,
but we got you.
Speaker 4 (17:46):
So I want to talk about uh Brett Barr because
when he came to Minnesota, you know, he went to
the Jets after Green Bay and we all thought, man,
he's gonna he's not gonna have he's not gonna do it.
And with the Jets and it comes to Minnesota, Man,
that is one of the greatest seasons you ever had,
and I just thought, you know, was so was so happy,
(18:08):
not just for my team, but for him too.
Speaker 2 (18:10):
You know, honestly, it's harder in sports in life, I
think you have a greater chance sports. You know, sports
is humbling because it's your athleticism. Father time gets you
no matter what in life. Like Rich said, I hate
to use us as the example, but.
Speaker 1 (18:23):
When we started at Fox Sports Radio, you know, we
came here with so much determination and motivation, excited to
be here.
Speaker 2 (18:30):
That's what I'm saying. A new scenery, a new workplace,
a new relationship. Yeah, all these things really can motivate
you in in regular life.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
Sports is tough.
Speaker 2 (18:41):
Let me ask you, being that your other love besides
boxing and but cheeks rock music. Can you think is
there any rock band that's put out a good track,
a good album where you're like.
Speaker 1 (18:54):
Yo, they haven't done anything in twenty years.
Speaker 2 (18:55):
People always counted Metallica out, you know at a certain point,
and I think they came back with seventy two seasons
pretty strong. There's there's Yeah, you know, it's tough in
music too, because you know, time goes on and they
expect you to be the same. But you're trying to
move on. You could reframe that question in this way.
Is there a classic artist in rock, hip hop, anything
where you'd say I want to hear their new stuff.
(19:20):
It's tough, right, that's really tough. Well, people have been
waiting for Andre three thousand for a while. Yeah, they
put a flute album, right, Oh gosh, you know what,
I almost forgot about it.
Speaker 1 (19:34):
I like the new M and M a lot, but
I don't.
Speaker 2 (19:36):
I feel like he never dropped off, though maybe diehard
fans and the younger generation does it to connect as much.
Speaker 1 (19:40):
But I've always liked that.
Speaker 7 (19:42):
Also Detox from Doctor Dre. Been waiting on that for
over a decade.
Speaker 1 (19:46):
Yeah, and sometimes it's like it's a stinker, like you said,
like Guns N' Roses and that, oh and her new
Gun in the Rose finally comes out.
Speaker 2 (19:53):
I one really cares about it at that point. It's
really hard to recapture that magic. So if Russell Wilson's
able to find that somehow in a new space because
he's still young enough to be the guy, Yeah, but
did he lose a step? I don't know. That's why
I thought Jean Carlos Stanton was a good answer. Rich,
because why has he seemed to find the fountain of youth?
Speaker 3 (20:11):
This year?
Speaker 1 (20:12):
He trimmed down and lost a lot of weight. He adjusted,
he adjusted, He made that adjustment this year.
Speaker 2 (20:18):
So two more quickies, then we'll play midweek major with
Spotty Larry game. What's up Larry in Washington State?
Speaker 1 (20:25):
Hey Larry, hey man?
Speaker 4 (20:27):
What about Randy the natural cature? He won the title
as a light heavyweights.
Speaker 8 (20:32):
And then came back and won it again as a heavyweight,
and now they became a movie star.
Speaker 1 (20:36):
No, that's awesome. He's had a great career for sure.
That's a really good one. I like that one.
Speaker 3 (20:42):
What's up?
Speaker 1 (20:43):
dB?
Speaker 10 (20:43):
I got one that didn't come to fruition on the
heels of the Guns N' Roses?
Speaker 3 (20:47):
Another talk?
Speaker 10 (20:48):
Don't you think the in syncrenion recently just kind of died?
People always wondered and it was that, you know, variety.
Speaker 2 (20:55):
Of r just two layers of this dand because in
Sync the single sort of flopped. It was part of
that Trolls movie. Timberlake was like, I'll do this song,
but there the record labels in Live Nation, all these
companies are bidding over who could do their tour because
this is gonna be a bunch of forty year old
women that want to see him on tour and Dan
Byer and.
Speaker 1 (21:12):
Dan Byer and I met in sink. Can let me
tell you though, You're right the new single was like
I leave that off the tour.
Speaker 10 (21:19):
Yeah, and I think the stuff with Timberlake and Britney
Spears didn't help any Yeah, you knowing.
Speaker 1 (21:24):
Sucked all though. I also think Timberlake wanted to make
it more about him, despite the fact.
Speaker 2 (21:28):
That it should have been about Yeah, we're seeing the
shift now, but all the momentum went out the window
and he started getting that backlash from Britney Spears. And
by the way, just coincidentally, she posted on her Instagram
yesterday heard dancing to Justin music saying like this is
the best, like and it's like, what is she doing anyway?
But no, not to talk about boy bands, but Damn
Byer's right, it's uh, it's fun. You were saying, Justin Timberlake,
(21:50):
I think now monetarily on a tour in sync is
more valuable than Justin. So I got one for you, bro,
I got one for you ready, Speaking of music and
oid bands, kind of you think anyone thought Ricky Martin
would be anything after Menudo and he comes out with
she's in the super Us.
Speaker 1 (22:08):
This shot that guy came out like a superman and
he was a soap star and then came out top
of that was the Latin exploit.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
But that he did she bangs and I'm like, he
doesn't know. No man, no one expected that dude to
come out like a superstar. Again, I'm telling you that
that was the second win for him back then. But again,
it's not easy. I think in the game of life.
In the game of life, you're you're more prone to
have a comeback and really reinvent yourself and and have
(22:40):
a second win than a second chance. And you are
in sports. Sports is what makes it tougher. Last call, keV,
you're on in Colorado.
Speaker 1 (22:46):
Have you known wretch?
Speaker 4 (22:48):
Yeah? I think the biggest comeback in my last time
in sports it's the George Foreman.
Speaker 2 (22:54):
Oh yeah, wait, we had mentioned it. We had mentioned
not only the grill, but you're at the knockout. Yeah,
he's did per Foreman's definitely on this last I.
Speaker 5 (22:59):
Think heard the hul Cogan side of that story. Yes,
it makes me sad missed out on the on the
call on the foreman grill.
Speaker 1 (23:06):
What did he choose?
Speaker 5 (23:08):
He got like a smoothie blender. In his words, he
put in two double A batteries. It would bleep, is
spend one's bleep and then die.
Speaker 1 (23:16):
Yep, yep again. You guys don't have the hulkster blender.
Oh I guess not.
Speaker 2 (23:20):
It's about finding the fountain of youth. And hey maybe
for you it's uh it's getting hair plugs, you know,

much fun in our two hour show.
Speaker 1 (24:58):
We never get to every honestly because this guy is
over promising things we never have time for. Yeah, you
blubber list me.
Speaker 2 (25:06):

be good at it because you've been over promising women
for years. Well, it's a Covino and Rich after show,
and we want you to be a part of it.

There you go, over promising, and remember you could see
on YouTube, but definitely join us. Listen Over Promised with
Covino and Rich on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or

(25:55):
Ricky Martin had a second win? Dude, I got a
second win. I got second win. Curtis you him You
know how much Booty I got. I mean, you know
how much I benefited from the Latin explosion back in
early two thousands.
Speaker 2 (26:07):
Got a few explosions of your own. Cavino and Rich
on Fox Sports Radio. You know, the more we rack
our brains about it, having a legitimate second win is
really tough. It really is because you're fighting father time.
So in today's world, I guess with plastic surgeries, you
could probably do it a little easier than here has gone.
Speaker 1 (26:27):
By, But uh, in sports is tough, man. So all
the best again to Russell Wilson. Again, Covino and Rich
live from the Tyrack dot Com studios. Get that second.
Speaker 2 (26:37):
We don't forget your second win. Let's uh, let's get
into Midweek Major. I don't want to I don't want
to waste any more time. Spotty's got a stories lined up.
Speaker 1 (26:46):
Let's go.
Speaker 4 (26:48):
Hit it.
Speaker 6 (26:51):
Covino and Rich get you over the middle of the week.
When mid Week Major, we throw sports and popcor your
headlines and topics at the fellas and it's like the kids.
Speaker 4 (27:04):
Says week definitely Major.
Speaker 6 (27:07):
See it our scoring Midweek Major?
Speaker 3 (27:11):
Ah boy, I hear the horns.
Speaker 1 (27:24):
That means you've made it to the middle of the week.
Speaker 7 (27:26):
Before we hand things over to the number one and
only hosts of this segment, We're gonna roll the two
big Red Love Dice in the main studio.
Speaker 4 (27:33):
There.
Speaker 1 (27:34):
Yeah, to see who goes first. I just rolled a seventh.
Oh cras can I beat a seven?
Speaker 7 (27:39):
It's a ritual?
Speaker 1 (27:40):
Hell yeah, I beat a seven. Nine, Let's go. Rich
gets first take.
Speaker 7 (27:45):
And now, ladies and gentlemen, the most famous person from
Scotch plays.
Speaker 1 (27:50):
New Jersey besides Judy Bloom Spotty boy. All right, well,
I'm not gonna keep you waiting any longer. I've been
teasing it the whole show starting on the day the
hot Dog News. Oh boy, we have seen the last
of Joey Chestnut and I'll tell you why because he
and Kobyashi, you know Kobyashi they last faced off in
two thousand and nine, will be part of a live
Netflix special coming this Labor Day. Chess Nut Versus Kobyashi
(28:15):
Unfinished Beef will stream live on Labor Day Monday, Yes,
to close out the summer. It's a showdown fifteen years
in the making, Kobe's current records and three or is
this chess that so everyone thinks The timing of the
announcement is very interesting, being as he just was a
banned and uh so, yeah, we'll see this.
Speaker 2 (28:34):
Henriya Mager band from the Nathan's Hotel getting contest on
fourth of July because he signed with the Vegan Company Finished,
but he went public yesterday saying how he was his
heart broke in about it and how sad he was
about it. Did he have this up his sleeve the
whole time with next? That's great, it's a great question announced.
That's a great question for someone that goes first. Hey,
(28:57):
Kevino took and I agree with everything he said. No,
the timing is what is it interesting?
Speaker 1 (29:03):
I think it's major. We watch a lot of we
watch a.
Speaker 2 (29:07):
Lot of dumb things. You know, we're gonna watch Kobyashi,
Joe the Unfinished Beef. Come on, It's awesome.
Speaker 3 (29:12):
It's such a great title.
Speaker 1 (29:14):
I'm sorry I jumped in there first, but I also agreed.
It's very major. Believe it or not.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
He's the face of hot dog eating. It's a big deal.
Everybody knows his name, and you're forgetting a major part
of the story.
Speaker 1 (29:28):
Kobe Yashi announced his retirement, so that means he's coming
out of retirement just to do this. Yeah, for medical reason,
for health reasons. He said he want to improve his health.
But he's doing this for one more shot at the title,
to prove who's best in a live Netflix I think
that's great major.
Speaker 4 (29:44):
I like it.
Speaker 1 (29:44):
A quick follow up though, speaking of Chestnat is the
new favorite Georgia. Jeffasper, who we talked about yesterday, has
weighed in on his absence, saying that there will be
an asterisks on his win if he competes, because it's
not going to be the same without Joey chestnutt being there.
And he says that joe Chestnut not only is the
(30:06):
biggest competitor but also hypes up the crowd at the event,
gets everything going. So I don't know if you want
to comment on that. We don't have to, but that's big,
that's that's a good omission, all right. Travis Kelsey, of
course the weekly Kelsey News has continues to follow in
his big brother's footsteps. In the New Heights podcast this week,
(30:26):
they were speculating about what Travis would do in his
retirement now that Jason's retired, and Travis said he didn't
want to be in an office. They talked about maybe
running an NFL franchise. He said no, I want to
go the way of he actually said Tony Romo and
Greg Olsen, not his brother, and become a broadcaster. Said
he wants to be the talking head that calls the games.
So I'm sure plenty of networks will move someone aside
(30:48):
to make room for him. Midweker major, that's major.
Speaker 2 (30:50):
He better signed that deal before he breaks up with
Taylor Swift, I'll say, right, I mean it's major. And uh,
you know, I think the bigger stories that Taylor Swift
his you know, his girlfriend was wiping snot off her
face at a concert and she's so popular that it's
the main story on TMZ. I think the headline should
be he's following his brother's dirty footsteps because either one
of them watched their feet, right, that's what. But I
(31:13):
do think it's a major story because it shows again
second life, second win, there's life after football, and that's
in broadcasting.
Speaker 1 (31:21):
Not everybody could do it bone year as popular as
they are. I think you lean into it. You know
who this effects who?
Speaker 2 (31:27):
Everyone that works for Fox, CBS, Amazon, They're like, oh,
someone's gonna lose their gig the minute. Travis Kelsey says,
I want in. There's only so many spots, right, that
is for all broadcasters to worry. If not true, you know,
so hey, step your game up, broadcasters, and props to
him all.
Speaker 1 (31:44):
Right, Dallas Cowboy MICHAEH. Parsons, Yeah, needs a huge reality check.
So a few days ago, Bleacher Report asked Micah and
c J. Stroud how they think they could fare as
an MLB hitter. The question was, if you played one
hundred and sixty two games with five that bats, how
many hits do you think you could get? And Parsons
had no problem saying that he could have a two
(32:04):
hundred batting average, which equates to about eight hundred and
ten hits out of those one hundred and sixty two
or no, I'm sorry, one hundred and sixty two would
we get he could average? He's saying he could average
one for five and one for five. Impossible. Guys like
Pete Alonzo hit two hundred, Kyle Schwarber bets like one Nike.
(32:25):
They actually gave Mookie Betts's a batting average of three
oh seventy. He's like, oh yeah, based on that easy
two hundred. Yeah, this is the you know, horse maneure.
I think the story's major because he's so dopey to
think that. I think this is a mid story. Again,
A good for him for having the great confidence to
think that he could do that.
Speaker 2 (32:44):
But no way again, Like Rich said, there's so many
big leaguers that are batting on the interstate now, a
big leader like Stars, Yes, Stars, And for him to
think that he could do that against these guys who
were flame throwers. Now, I remember, we grew up at
a time where if one picture was thrown close to
a hundre miles per hour, you're like, wow, now you
got nobody's throwing one hundred and four miles per hour.
Speaker 1 (33:04):
No way? All right, speaking of big leaguers, the female
Oilers fan who went viral for flashing her chest at
a selling for I believe it was May thirty first, yeah,
versus the Dallas Stars, Well, we finally found out who
she is. The women who we only know has Kate
appeared on the Spit and chick Lits podcast on Monday
and talked about her clip. She said she blames Rich
(33:26):
You watch out because she blamed Cheesy's and Truly's for
the inspiration behind getting caught up in the moment and
showing she had nothing planned. It wasn't a thing, and
she apparently tried to squash the video. She actually reported
the video on social media, thought it was going away,
scrubbed all her social was like, I'm good and then
it came back with a vengeance, so now she's uh. Oh,
(33:46):
by the way, they asked the most important question, and
no they are not midweek er major. No, let me
tell you.
Speaker 2 (33:52):
I think it's a mid story. We've seen Boots before,
you know, you've never seen but you know what, I
got boots. I'm more impressed that she shouted out cheeses,
which is my favorite Canadian treat and.
Speaker 1 (34:02):
Truly your favorite trick. Just something I admit. I think
it's major because that means one day rich might be
flashed in the world. So what's that world? You can
You can only hope. I also think it's major that
there's a show called what is it called Split and
chick Lits. We don't know, no brstools, big hockey bro.
I think that Kate is kind of hot actually, so
(34:22):
I think it's mid I'll go mid on it.
Speaker 2 (34:24):
Well, thanks guys, thank you, Spotty. Damn Buyer's got your update,
Deep Deep what up?
Speaker 10 (34:29):
D Bu's still waiting on the status of one Chris
stops Porzingis for tonight's Game three of the NBA Finals,
considered questionable because of that leg injury. Celtics are up
two to zero, but the scene shifts to Dallas tonight
eight thirty Eastern time for Game three. Basketball Hall of
Famer Jerry West died today at the age of eighty six.
Helped build the showtime Lakers, also was the president of
(34:52):
the Grizzlies and spend time in the front office of
the Clippers and Warriors. And then there was his playing career,
where he was an All Star every single season, went
to nine NBA Finals, won a title with the Lakers
in seventy two, and in fact, in nineteen sixty nine,
when they lost the NBA Finals, was still named the
NBA Finals MVP. Jerry West again was eighty six years old.
Aaron Rodgers and no showed a Jets mandatory mini camp
(35:13):
and won't be there tomorrow either. According to The Athletic. However,
head coach Robert Sala of the Jets says that while
it's an unexcused absence, they are on the exact same page.
Bill Sun rookie wide receiver Keyon Coleman to a deal.
Brewers beat the Blue Jays today in Day Baseball five
to four, while the Twins were all over the Rockies
seventeen to nine. Astros fell to the Giants in San
(35:34):
Francisco final score of five to three in the A's
and Padres tied up at four as they head to
the ninth inning in San Diego. And a couple of
other notes. Rafia on Nadala, Carlos Alkarez teaming up in
men's doubles to represent Spain in the Paris Olympics this summer,
and Leo Messi said that Inter Miami will be the
last club that he plays for as he admitted there
wasn't a lot of time left in his playing career. Guys,
(35:55):
back to you, no thank you, Dan Byro.
Speaker 2 (35:56):
I was talking to your cohort Brian Fenley, one of
the other greats here and he's a big tennis guy.
The doll and al Karez is going to be must
watch doubles tennis because a lot of times the male
stars have not historically teamed up like that. This is
the Williams sisters on the female side of things. Yes,
but this is pretty big. It's the opposite of Caitlin
Clark because they said they don't care about fans and
(36:18):
eyes on the sport.
Speaker 1 (36:19):
This is going to get you to watch who's not
gonna watch the doll and Alcaaz in doubles. Yeah.
Speaker 10 (36:24):
I think it'll be a lot of fun. There have
been when the games were in London and they played
at Wimbledon. It was neat to watch. And this will
bring you, uh bring you out to watch the stars.
Speaker 1 (36:33):
Grit it doubt all right, thank you, dB, have a
great nothing.
Speaker 2 (36:35):
Yes, thank you, Dan Byer. Now Rich, Yes, am I
a grown up iPad kid? We'll explain, all right, maybe
you're a grown up iPad kid. You the equivalent of
some dumb little kid on his iPad at a restaurant.
Speaker 1 (36:50):
We'll explain.
Speaker 2 (36:51):
Next, and a little preview the NBA Finals. Hang tight
more CNR next? Uh oh yeah, CNR. Covino Rich on
Fox Sports Radio. Got that midweek feeling Wednesday already.
Speaker 1 (37:07):
You know we gotta go to Dan Byer because there
is breaking news in the world of sports. Let's do it.
Breaking news from Fox Sports guys.
Speaker 10 (37:17):
The Boston Celtics have ruled Kristaps Porzingis as out for
tonight's game against the Dallas Mavericks.
Speaker 1 (37:22):
It is a Game three of the NBA Finals.
Speaker 10 (37:24):
Celtics head coach Joe Mizzuli said yesterday they would leave
the ultimate decision up to the team doctors. Apparently they
felt Porzinga shouldn't go tonight. He will miss tonight's Game
three with that left lower leg injury.
Speaker 2 (37:36):
Bigger picture, the Celtics don't need to win tonight. Of
course they want to win and go up three to zero,
but if they lose, they're still up to one and
they're in Dallas. Get porzingis healthy for when the series
returns to the Boston.
Speaker 1 (37:53):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (37:53):
About that, just because I know everyone out there is like, oh,
if this is a it's going to be a brand
new series of Dallas wins one here. It just give
them no oxygen, don't give him anything.
Speaker 1 (38:01):
That's true.
Speaker 2 (38:02):
The doctors didn't clear him for this game where they're
just in a clear him. They're back home all of
a sudden.
Speaker 1 (38:06):
And that's not good for his Friday.
Speaker 3 (38:08):
Guys.
Speaker 10 (38:08):
It's the shortest turnaround. It's the only game in the
series where you have forty eight hours rest. All the
others are about two days, seventy two hours.
Speaker 1 (38:16):
It was very clear that he wanted to play, so
they must have realized that it was more severificant enough
to keep him out because.
Speaker 7 (38:23):
They were kind of tongue in cheek talking about dying
out there on the court.
Speaker 2 (38:27):
Remember yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure. So that's big news. Well,
and that goes to the original story of the Mavericks
being favored tonight.
Speaker 1 (38:34):
So there you go. No, I mean, we knew they
would be because it seems like obviously a must win.
I mean, I hate that. I was surprised that you were.
I thought it was going to be I thought it
might be one now.
Speaker 7 (38:44):
Closer to even Rich because of the way Kyrie and
Luca have obviously Luca herding and Kyrie that's the key tonight.
Is he going to finally show up that first three hits.
He's going to breathe. He'll be like, all right, here
I go. And if he has a great game in
front of his home fans, then it'll be a series.
Speaker 2 (39:03):
Dallason will blowout tonight. That's a big momentum changer though. Blowout,
that's that's a little son. I just think to something.
They're coming out to play Luca hurt. It doesn't matter
that it's it's in Dallas tonight. Oh hey, something to
be excited about. Later on tonight again, we're Covino and
Rich Live from the tire rack dot Com Studios quick
reminder tomorrow Thursday already, so we'll do a little old
(39:24):
school in fifty hits. So join us tomorrow. We reminisce
on Thursdays, we throw it back on the Coveno and
Rich Show. And speaking of injuries with Porzingis and Luca
in the NFL, let's hope there's no injuries because I
feel like the uh, the Madden curse is a thing
of the past, right at least knock on wood somewhere,
the Madding curse.
Speaker 7 (39:44):
That's what you and your nine are faithful hope for.
Speaker 2 (39:46):
Knock on Wood, because the mad curse is that when
you catch an athlete's foot at the gym boom top
acting boom top actment, when your feet going to burst
into flames.
Speaker 1 (39:56):
That's not the Maddic curse.
Speaker 2 (39:58):
But as you know, Christ McCaffrey will be well handsome
on the cover of the new Madden and he actually
spoke about it.
Speaker 11 (40:07):
I'm not superstitious at all about it. I was so excited, man,
I mean, was this was such an honor to be
able to you know, when I first got the call,
I was, I was in shock. Is something that I
just never thought what happened to me? I never thought that,
you know, somebody would call and tell me I'm on
the cover of Madden. So when I got the call,
I wouldn't thinking about any curse. I was just excited
and no, I mean, I think that stuff is kind
(40:29):
of myth and you know, whatever happens happens. But I'm
I'm excited to be on the cover.
Speaker 1 (40:35):
Well, the streak had a long run of coming through
now a few years not so much now.
Speaker 2 (40:42):
Something we said we're going to get to it's real quick,
because I do want to call you a schoolboy on
an iPad. Well, I saw a meme and it doesn't
just apply to me. I think applies to a lot
of people, especially guys that and women that watch and
listen to Fox Sports Radio. I saw it and it
says guys who watched live sports on their phone while
they're supposed to be socializing with family or friends are
(41:03):
really just adult versions of iPad kids.
Speaker 1 (41:07):
And it's kind of funny, right, like, if you're trying
to keep the kid quiet and entertained, like give them
a tablet, give it an iPad, dude, give give it
a I want to watch cocoa melon give me iPad.
You giving your two year old an iPad with Coco
Melon on it, that's blue. Give me iPad is.
Speaker 2 (41:22):
No different than Cavino watching a July or June Yankees
game when he's out to dinner with family, and does
it Does it really add to the story in the narrative?
When I have that big rubbery case on it, is
it camouflush?
Speaker 1 (41:35):
Honestly, you we told the story a couple of weeks ago.
Speaker 2 (41:38):
You were out to dinner with your girlfriend's family who
was visiting in town, and you had the phone out.
You are a two year old watching Coco Melon and
I'm not the only guy.
Speaker 1 (41:47):
So there you have it. Are you an iPad kid?
Is really what the question is.
Speaker 2 (41:51):
But to me, that just shows your commitment and loyalty
to whatever team, or maybe just how anti social you
really are.
Speaker 7 (41:57):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (41:57):
But for me, I just don't want to miss Yankee game.
I just don't want to miss a fight or whatever.
So I guess I'm just one big grown up baby
iPad kid. Well that's I've always thought that about you.
You know something, tomorrow, maybe we could get to I
saw a rumor that Pete Alonzo may stay in New
York their speculation, but not with the Mets. Would you
want Polar Bear Pete, Well, no one's saying that we
(42:20):
need him, but no one's gonna say no to that bat.
Speaker 1 (42:23):
He's got a great bat. Yeah. So hey, we'll maybe
get to that tomorrow. Until then, have a great Wednesday night,
enjoy the NBA Finals. Riva there, chie baby, see you
in the Promised landy Goodbye, guys,
