We all should be rooting for Dallas because who wants
an NHL Stanley Cup Finals and an NBA finals. That's

(00:29):
sort of over after three, Like if both of these
go up, Hey, Rich, are Das Let's go?

Speaker 2 (00:38):
Let me text Mark Cuban, get these guys fired up. Mark.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
Hey, everybody, you're right if you're not a Celtics fan,
if you're not, you know, a Panthers fan, Yeah, why
not extend it and keep the fun going.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
I'm with you.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
I'm because then we just have baseball and your occasional
Kaitlin clarkview before football kicks in. So let's say extend
this another week or so, shall we? Let's go NBA,
Let's go NHL. We've got the Olympics coming on stretch
it the Olympics, and there's a study for judo golf.
There's a stat here in favor of the MAVs. Teams

(01:11):
that are favored to win in Game three when down
two to oh in the finals are eight no since
nineteen ninety three. Wow eight no, so hey, as Rocky bowboassays,
And I follow this in life for real, And it
has nothing to do with sunshine and rainbows.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
Oh Goddyminium's unus.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
No, no, no, it's not hey like absolutely yo, hey yo,
mister tiger, none of that.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
Okay, coconuts.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
It's a great way to approach life because when you
look too far ahead, you get two flustered. It's one step,
one punch, one round at a time, one step, one punch,
one round at a time, one game at a time.
They went tonight, they're right back in it.

Speaker 3 (01:48):
The reason why I thought Boston might be favored by
a little bit. Lucas battling like three different injuries. Yeah,
and it's he's just not himself. And Kyrie obviously does
not like going against Drew Hall.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Well, as of now, Kyrie has not hit a three
point shot in the NBA Finals.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
That's got to change tonight. So I think a lot
of it.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
Has to do with is Kyrie going to be the
guy that a week ago, we're saying, Yo, Kyrie's the
old Kyrie. We knew this guy stepping it up, best
backcourt in NBA history. Now all of a sudden, it's.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
Like, where Kyrie go?

Speaker 1 (02:17):
Somebody get to Speaking of three points, I saw a
stat I saw it on TikTok, so it has to
be true.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
It has to be It was a meme, so it
has to be real.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
He said, what's more shocking to you the fact that
Shaquille O'Neill took only one three point shot in his
entire career?

Speaker 2 (02:34):
Right?

Speaker 1 (02:35):
Or that JJ Reddick had only one slam dunk in
his career? What's more shocking in their entire career. That's
a good one, I would say, You're like, what, really,
that's it one? They both had one each, Shacks. I
we should all know if it was only one. Was
it a wide open, meaningless moment where Shacks like I'll

(02:57):
take I don't know what them I've seen it. I
just don't know if the moment was. It wasn't like
a significant moment. It was just some random shot. It
was like another I think it was off the glass too.
It was an ugly shot, but it went in. So yeah,
so I mean, now you confuse me. But what's more shocking.
I'm going with the fact that Shaq only had one
three point shot. JJ Reddick barely slammed on that shot. Huh,

(03:22):
that's a good one.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
It's good.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
It's a good TikTok hypothetically found, so don't think about
it anyway. We got Russell Wilson to talk about midweek major.
Am I a grown iPad kid. If we have time,
we'll get to all that. If not, you'll hear it
on our bonus podcast tomorrow. Over promise. Well, let's jump
into it as we get ready for the NBA Finals
Game three tonight. I say go MAVs, not that I'm
a fan, like like we said though, just to make

(03:44):
it fun, like who who wants a who wants a
dog water? NBA Finals where toilet water bro where it's
it's nothing. So let's go MAVs. And uh, we lost
an NBA legend, So I think it's you know, fair
to say a legend a guy that meant so much
to I wanted to dedicate our show to him, but
I didn't want to put that pressure on us. I

(04:06):
want to honor the legend. Eighty six years old. The
logo the face of the NBA. Jerry West passed away
at the age of eighty six. Definitely gonna honor him tonight,
and which will be nice?

Speaker 2 (04:17):
I said to Mike, who runs his place? Who Mike?
I said, Mike.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
Any speculation that ever that they would at some point
change the logo is done now because this guy passed away.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
He's a legend. You don't do that when someone's gone.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
So I think I think the NBA logo, which is
Jerry West, but that side dribble, Do you think that
lives forever?

Speaker 4 (04:35):
Now?

Speaker 1 (04:36):
Oh yeah, the moment to like have the Jordan dunk
replace but that's already the Jordan logo. I think that
Jerry West will be part of NBA history forever, not
only because of what he's contributed on and off the court,
but he's the logo. The only one I could ever
see replacing that, and I don't think they should. I
think it's a great logo is Kobe, probably because I've

(04:58):
seen someone like the look good and it is Kobe
and they look good. But Jerry West, this, yeah, it's
just classic and legendary at this point.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
And one of the many cool stories coming out today
about Jerry West is stephen A said that back in
the day, he was trying to make an argument on
TV or radio whichever one, that he thought Michael Jordan
should be the new logo, and when he met Jerry
West in person for the first time, Jerry West was like, hey, dude,
like you assume I would have a problem with that.
That's what it sounded like you were saying. I agree

(05:29):
with you. Michael Jordan's the best to ever do it.
Like I'd be okay with him being the logo. So
that's how humble Jerry West was.

Speaker 1 (05:37):
Now it's a great logo, let it be, especially now
eighty six years old with his wife Karen, I believe
at his bedside. So no detail, no further details last
night saw I just imagine he's eighty six.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
He had a legendary life.

Speaker 3 (05:52):
He's an old guy, inducted into the Basketball Hall of
Fame in three different roles, which is amazing.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
That's insane.

Speaker 3 (05:59):
You can and we hardly use the word icon for
good reason. You can't call a lot of people icons,
but he is.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
No, yeah, that's amazing. So it's literally an icon. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
we're using that word the right way. Unlike every young
twenty something. No, he literally is an icon.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
He is the icon. He's the logo. Let me ask
you a question about logos before we talk some. Aaron
Rodgers Russ is in the news.

Speaker 2 (06:23):
We'll talk some.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
Like I said everything, you're gonna ask me about logos. Yes,
I know there's an arrow and the FedEx logan.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
No, not that, not that.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
Yes, I know it's his thirty one in Besk and Robins.
I don't know what about the Chicago Bulls logo upside down?
Upside down is a robot DJing robot having his way
with a cramp ro about reading a book.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
Yeah, in a while. It's both a forest and an
unidentifiable beast.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
Yeah, Milwaukee Brewers. Yes, I know it's a baseball glove.
I know the B M and the B, the M
and the B Milwaukee Brewers kidding. Oh, what logo you
want to give me on? Is the MLB logo?

Speaker 2 (06:59):
Okay? A righty or a lefty? I always thought it
was a bird. I thought it was a bird too.

Speaker 1 (07:05):
It has a point those it's not a bird. No,
I always thought it was a bird holding a bat. Right.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
Um, that's a good one.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
He is clearly batting lefty, No, I'm thinking righty.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
Nah. I think that's the whole point. And it's kind
of the point they did with the Jerry West logo too,
is like you can't tell what he and they're using
for either for either sport.

Speaker 1 (07:27):
It's a good point. Look at that the NBA logo
all great logos. So again, rest in peace. The silhouette
chosen by MLB lefty could be righty or a lefty
depending on how you look at it. Contrary to popular believe,
the silhouette was not modeled after Harmon, Killer Brew or
any specific player. It's an ambiguous lefty or righty batter

(07:49):
up to interpretation switcher.

Speaker 2 (07:51):
Yeah, Bernie Williams, that's who it is.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
One of those like reverse optical illusions, as the ballerina
spinning clockwise.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
Yeah, oh yeah, that are you hearing green needle or brainstorm?
All right? Well, hey, Aaron Rodgers, I want to talk
about Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 1 (08:08):
Aaron Rodgers. Apparently there's an announcement manyana that means tomorrow.
Grenghos locos as to why he missed his mandatory practice yesterday.
It was a mandatory day, but again a misleading headline
because he let his coach know that he wasn't going

(08:29):
to be there now because it was a mandatory day
at camp. He gets fine and whatever, but he said
he had an important personal thing to attend.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
The coach knew about it.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
So therefore, in my opinion, it was all good because
I'm looking at it this way. For Aaron Rodgers to
have taken off, it had to be something like a
I don't know, like I said, an important graduation of sorts,
a family event, a family emergency, something where he felt
that he needed to be there.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
He told Roberts South and he told the coach like
you said, Let's say he's not gonna hurt anybody. Let's
make it clear.

Speaker 1 (09:06):
This isn't like Dennis Rodman, where Phil Jackson and the
Bulls were like, where's Dennis Rodman? Is he alive? Is
he in Vegas? And then he shows up on Monday
night Nitro with hul kochin. Now, it's not like Rodman
in the nineties. Aaron Rodgers said, hey, coach, hey Jets,
I'm willing to take the punishment or whatever the case
may be. If IMAA means you're missing. Aaron Rodgers is

(09:27):
not missing, don't put him on a milk cart and
everybody Aaron Rodgers has accounted for. He was just not
at the Jets practice for one day. Now here's what's
interesting about it, too, though he's making an announcement about
what it was tomorrow now. I don't think he owes
anybody any explanation about where he was and why his teammates.

(09:49):
Of course, if he wants to adjust the team as
a leader, Hey, I'm the leader of this team. Just
so you guys know, this is what happened, this is
why I was out. He doesn't owe the general public
Didley squad as far as I'm concerned. That's how I
say that, not only does he owe us nothing. We
can't pretend that everyone is equal.

Speaker 2 (10:10):
That's like one of the.

Speaker 1 (10:11):
Craziest misconceptions in life, society, sports, business school.

Speaker 2 (10:17):
We're all equal. It's just not true.

Speaker 1 (10:19):
I agree with that statement. But nobody wants Nobody wants
to be reminded of what you're saying. But it's truth,
it's truth, but nobody wants it rubbed in their face. Eron,
if someone's walking around like they're better than me, I
want to remind him real quick that they're you know
that they're really no, I'm not saying Aaron Rodgers has
even done this with arrogance. Aaron Rodgers has played in
the league. I'll be honest. Some of the kids on

(10:44):
his team were in diapers when he started playing for
the Packers back in the day. This guy's a veteran.
If you don't think Aaron Rodgers wants to win, if
you don't think he did everything he could to bounce
back from that injury, if you don't think he's got
the fire in his stomach, you didn't watch Hard Knocks.

Speaker 2 (10:57):
This guy leads. We can make fun of him.

Speaker 1 (11:00):
Well, could you know, knock Aaron Rodgers and the ayahuasca
and the vaccine stuff and oh he's, you know, hanging
with Rogan.

Speaker 2 (11:06):
Rewind Ready rug we plam yim Rewind.

Speaker 1 (11:11):
When he became part of the Jets organization, we commended
him almost every week for doing all the right things.
He was doing everything the right way to embrace New York,
and every week it seemed like there was a new
story of man, what a great leader Aaron Rodgers is,
and we were giving him the credit for that. So
you have to rewind and remember that he was putting

(11:32):
his best foot forward every step of the way until
he got hurt. His track record has shown that while
some may make fun of him and he's the butt
of like a joke about drugs or vaccines or something,
he has done nothing but be a good teammate. The
record shows that everyone that played with Aaron Rodgers seems
to have liked Aaron Rodgers. Right, Yeah, you watched Hard Knocks.

(11:54):
All the young guys loved him too. On the Jets. Yeah, So,
I mean we're talking about a guy that it was
his nephew's graduation, whether or not he reconciled with his family,
Remember he had a you know, they didn't talk.

Speaker 2 (12:07):
What if there was a family trip and he's.

Speaker 1 (12:09):
Like, I think it's time, or even if he wanted
to support a friends charity, an event, whatever it is.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
Whatever was important to him. Everybody has different priorities. Dude.

Speaker 1 (12:19):
Whatever it is important to Aaron Rodgers is none of
your business and affects the Jets twenty twenty four outcome
in no way at all. One afternoon of practice is
not making or breaking the New York Jets. The over
exaggerated overreactions I'm seeing in sports TV and radio, like, well,

(12:40):
he's a leader in the guy said, this day, I
got something to do. That means a lot to me.
He's a twenty year veteran in the league. He deserves that.
I heard Colin Cowherd Stars.

Speaker 2 (12:54):
I heard him too. He said, trust your eyes.

Speaker 1 (12:58):
And you know my feeling's on Colin. I think he's
the best in the game. Colin Damn Patrick. There's a
lot of big time superstars at work on this network.
Let me ask you guys a question. Every year, at
the Super Bowl or big events for Fox Sports Radio, right,
we have a big sales Can I just say something?

(13:18):
This is where I think you might lose me. Okay, okay,
I'm just warning the Fox Sports Radio nation that I
was on riches page all up until I think right
about now, maybe continue carry on, proceed with the bar.
When we were in Vegas for the Super Bowl, there's
always one morning right where we have a little breakfast,

(13:42):
a little pow wow with sales and some big clients
and people that are that are making things happen here
for iHeart and Fox Correct.

Speaker 3 (13:49):
The talent are all fighting over coffee because they were
all out too late the night before.

Speaker 2 (13:52):
Oh I been maw or what's up? Boddy? Hey, Jonas.

Speaker 1 (13:55):
Can I tell you I was so tired at the
one that we went too. It's the worst picture I
have of myself till this day. The worst picture I
have is from that morning because we're partying in Vegas.
Then we have to wake up bright and early for
a big sales meeting the following day.

Speaker 3 (14:13):
Yeah, at the NFL party was the night prior, and
so you I remember you had raccoonized.

Speaker 1 (14:17):
Yeah, oh ha, Clay Travis. Let's take a picture so
I could send it to my parents. I can hardly
raccoonize him. Yeah, you could barely raccoonize me. The worst picture.
I'm so tough.

Speaker 2 (14:26):
I'm sleeping. I'm still sleeping.

Speaker 1 (14:27):
And I's a picture because Camino his mom and dad
like Clay Travis, and he's like hey mom, Luke Holm
hanging with and the Camino looks like he's sixty five
years old. It's the worst photo I've ever seen him myself.
Beginning twenty years of following every Super Bowl, there's a
big sales meeting that we all go to. Fox Sports
rad has this big early morning breakfast. Guess who doesn't

(14:48):
have to wake up early for that breakfast? Colin, your
boy and Dan because they've earned the ability to say, yeah,
I'm not going to go to that. You bring the
client to my show, we'll we'll work it out. They've
earned it. They are the Aaron Rodgers in this scenario.
No explanation needed. No, here's the difference, Aaron Rodgers. I'm

(15:08):
assuming Aaron Rodgers has something important to do. I feel
I'm not saything about Colin or Dan, but I feel
like if and when I'm ever fortunate enough to be
in that position.

Speaker 2 (15:21):
I'll still show up any will Yeah, I will, because.

Speaker 1 (15:25):
I feel like that's the better way to lead, meaning like, yo,
I'm no better than anybody.

Speaker 2 (15:32):
I'm here. What's up? Man? How aar?

Speaker 1 (15:34):
I take it as you good to see you have
at different levels in your career. Remember Roger Clemens didn't
take road trips if he wasn't scheduled to pitch because
it was like, yo, the rockets on this team.

Speaker 2 (15:43):
Yeah, but you don't think that rubs some people the
wrong way. Idiots.

Speaker 1 (15:46):
Now, if you're not people walk around like they're better
than you, that's not a great way to lead.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
I don't think it's better.

Speaker 1 (15:51):
People want to fight for and play for somebody that
is on their team, not the acts, not like the
person that acts like they're better than them. I know,
so I could see both sides. I think that's where
you're standing, right, Danny G. As far as Aaron Rodgers
j now, again, I think the difference here is he
had something important.

Speaker 2 (16:10):
I don't know what that was.

Speaker 1 (16:11):
So I'm gonna give him the pass on this because
he has a great track record of putting his team first.
There's no question to me that his priority is winning
with the Jets, so I have no problem with it.
But as far as leadership is concerned, the leader has
to be there, man, he has to be there always,
as far as i'm when when Travis Kelsey's out and
about traveling the world on an off day, on a

(16:34):
bye week or whatever he's doing to see Taylor Swift,
that's his priority. That's his girlfriend. That's the woman he loves,
and he is the best tight end arguably in the
NFL now and maybe of all time. You earn things,
it doesn't make you arrogant. No, no, I'll give you.
Let's dumb it down. Right, You ever play on a team.
I played on a soccer team when I was a kid, Right,

(16:54):
everyone you think everyone that flies first classes arrogant or
did they just earn it?

Speaker 2 (16:59):
I think they paid for it. But I'm saying but yeah,
down to them.

Speaker 1 (17:03):
But by your thinking, by your thinking would be like, well,
why don't they just sit and coach with the rostivals.

Speaker 2 (17:08):
Look, let me finish my story.

Speaker 1 (17:09):
I was a little kid and I was playing soccer,
just like all the other little kids from Fantasy Island.
What does that have to do with the price of bananas?

Speaker 2 (17:18):
Just paint the picture. So yeah, don't even get me started.

Speaker 1 (17:23):
And every kid would show up to practice, just like
all the other kids. But there was one kid that
they rolled the red carpet out for. You know why,
they said this.

Speaker 2 (17:31):
This is the eighties, so they didn't care about political correctness.

Speaker 1 (17:35):
He's so good he doesn't have to practice, what you
idiots is basically what they said.

Speaker 2 (17:39):
So he would only show up. He would only show
up on the games.

Speaker 1 (17:42):
And you know what, yeah, yeah, yeah, we won with
the kid, but no one on a team really liked
the kid because we had no camaraderie with him. Talking
about a double little kid versus Aaron Rodgers, you're missing
the point. You clearly are a bozo, And really I'm saying,
if you want to be a part of the team,
you're a part of the team. You're not better than
the team.

Speaker 3 (18:02):
Rich I just wanted to point out for your analogy
about the network's early morning Super Bowl breakfast, Dan Patrick
was still on the air while we were there.

Speaker 2 (18:11):
Happy that's a good point as well.

Speaker 1 (18:12):
Yeah, but also keep in mind, when you hit a
certain level in your career, you have a respect and
Aaron Rodgers has earned the ability to say, hey, guys,
one day, I'm not going to be there. You know why,
because I got some business to attend to. It doesn't
matter whether you agree with it or not. This guy
could have retired multiple years ago. Multiple times he's saying

(18:33):
I'm in it to win it, and he shows that
on the field. He shows that a practice one day.
What if it was his niece's communion, would you have
said that's not good enough? So this guy, I'm sure
there's other veterans there like, well, hey man, I could
have went to my nieces.

Speaker 2 (18:47):
Common too, and I didn't go.

Speaker 1 (18:49):
I'm not just giving you to flips by no means
am by an old guy. But I'm not young. You know, veterans,
if you're forty something at your job. You know what
I used to skip in my twenties, Dan Byer events,
family functions things. I was twenty four, twenty three, and
I was like, yo, I'm earning my keep. I'm making
my way right now. If my kid has a school
performance or something going on, I'm taking that day because

(19:10):
that's more important to also work, you know, around the clock,
three sixty five.

Speaker 2 (19:14):
Days a year. Aaron Rodders, they work season to season.

Speaker 5 (19:18):
Can I why didn't you guy? You guys have been
together for twenty years? Why did you show up for
the breakfast You've been in doing a radio show for
twenty years?

Speaker 1 (19:26):
Because I'm a team player and that's expected. I am
a brownnoser.

Speaker 5 (19:30):
Yeah at least, But I would also think it's because
you've been with Fox for two years.

Speaker 2 (19:34):
Yes, yeah, it's like where the rookie.

Speaker 5 (19:36):
Is just like Aaron Rodgers with the Jets. Everything that
he's done with the Green Bay Packers doesn't matter with
his new team, and that's why he needs to be there.

Speaker 2 (19:44):
I mean a great point.

Speaker 1 (19:47):
That's what responsibilities last season are we just ignoring that.
That's why these conversations are fun to speculate, because yes,
oh yes, I think he's earned it in his career
to take a day, but he's also rubbing other veterans
the wrong way. Perhaps he's setting a bad example for
the rookies. Like there's all different ways to look at
these things. It's not as black and white as you

(20:08):
make it out to be. Like, hey, I've earned it,
now beat it.

Speaker 6 (20:11):
He didn't, Yeah, because had the previous season not fallen
apart the way it had, maybe, but.

Speaker 2 (20:18):
I think it makes them look I think it makes
I think it makes them look more valuable. We'll go
with this team without a baby.

Speaker 6 (20:22):
But this is the first day back after all the troubles,
after the fact that after his achilles.

Speaker 2 (20:28):
Injury, he was at the non mandatories.

Speaker 6 (20:30):
But I'm saying like, after that, this is the mandatory,
first one of the season, after a season that crumbled because.

Speaker 2 (20:38):
Mostly because of him.

Speaker 1 (20:39):
Yeah, so it might be it was over after the
fourth snap.

Speaker 2 (20:43):
To show camaraderie for the team that you are leading
to show up. All right, your thoughts and uh, we'll
take your feedback.

Speaker 7 (20:52):

Hey, we're Covino and Rich Fox Sports Radio every day

Speaker 2 (21:09):
But here's the thing. We never have enough time to
get to everything we want to get.

Speaker 1 (21:13):
To and that's why we have a brand new podcast
called over Promised. You see, we're having so much fun
in our two hour show. We never get to everything, honestly,
because this guy is over promising things we never have
time for. Yeah, you blubber list lame in me. Well,
you know what it's called over promise. You should be
good at it because you've been over promising.

Speaker 2 (21:31):
Women for years.

Speaker 1 (21:32):
Well, it's a Cavino and Rich after show, and we
want you to be a part of it. We're gonna
be talking sports, of course, but we're also gonna talk
life and relationships. And if Rich and I are arguing
about something or we didn't have enough time, it will
continue on our after show called over Promised. Well, if
you don't get enough Covino and Rich, make sure you
check out over Promised and also Uncensored, by the way,
so maybe we'll go at it even a little harder.

(21:53):
It's gonna be the best after show podcast.

Speaker 2 (21:55):
Of all time.

Speaker 1 (21:56):
There you go, over promising remember you could see on YouTube,
but definitely join us. Listen over Promised with Covino and
Rich on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you
get your podcasts. Covino and Rich, by the way, just
a reminder, we're approaching Father's Day weekend, so remember to

(22:19):
just not bother your father. And if your father, just
ask to not be bothered this coming weekend, that's all,
and buy a card or something like that. Covino and Rich.
We're dad's dads just want everyone to get along. Yeah,
they want no one's. My dad would say, hey, I
just don't want nobody busting my chops, and that's.

Speaker 2 (22:41):
All we really want.

Speaker 1 (22:42):
And I bring that up because I'm heading back east
this weekend for Father's Day weekend, hang out with my
daughter and my dad and have a nice weekend, which
means I'm not gonna be here on Tuesday, right, Why
I'm gonna make that announcement on Wednesday.

Speaker 2 (22:57):
But but yeah, I won't be here on Tuesday, that
is the truth. But tell us why. I'll let you
know on Wednesday, big announcement.

Speaker 1 (23:06):
And uh, I think you all that I think I'm
like Aaron Rodgers, bro I don't know anybody anything.

Speaker 3 (23:10):
I say, all the rest of us should get that
day off too. No, No, you'll find out why on Wednesday.
That is pretty wild, and you think about it, he
really is dangling that news. It's Cavino and Rich on
Fox Sports Radio Live from the tyrack dot com studios.
Aaron Rodgers announces why tomorrow. I mean, there's so many
easy ways right social media, there's so many ways where

(23:32):
he could just simply tell us what the deal is.
But then Spot brings up a good point for all
we know it's something serious and we're all going.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
To feel bad about it. We don't know. We don't know.

Speaker 1 (23:40):
Maybe somebody died, we don't know, you don't know. I
want to do I want to thank him why because whether,
like I said, whether you roll your eyes or aggravated,
you're like this guy's ego or you love them, however
you feel about Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 2 (23:54):
He's fun to talk about.

Speaker 1 (23:56):
He provides fun content in an otherwise you know, boring
June Day in the world of sports, where again NBA Finals.
But besides that, it was the big story this week
with this week Joey Chess not on hot dogs.

Speaker 2 (24:08):
That was a big sting you, Aaron Rodgers. I want
to thank you. I got a mid week major update
by the way. Oh I can't wait update. Yeah you
got Oh wait till you hear this. It's huge, So
stick around again, baite.

Speaker 1 (24:20):
That's got midweek major the biggest stories in the world
of sports and pop culture.

Speaker 2 (24:24):
We do that every Wednesday.

Speaker 1 (24:25):
But I thought you when you said you got updates
on buns, I thought it was something different. Well too,
if you want that, all right, do you wanna talk
about Russell Wilson or do you want to get some
feedback going ATG You have any final thoughts about Aaron Rodgers,
because I feel like you were leaning towards Yeah, he's
rubbing people the wrong way.

Speaker 3 (24:47):
Yeah, but remember in our pre show meeting, I said,
I think when he announces what the actual reason is tomorrow,
that'll be the time to really have the discussion about it.
Go blindly right now, just yeah, ca an't blindly attack
a guy when you don't know exactly what's going on.

Speaker 1 (25:03):
Yeah, dude, for all we know, he's uh kitting died
and he's distraught, and we're gonna be like really, but hey,
whatever it is for him, little muffin, we don't know. Yeah,
we don't know. Well, hey, we'll find out. Like you said,
Russell Wilson, how is he like Ponce de Leon as
you said, which, by the way, might have been one

(25:24):
of the few explorer names you remember as a kid,
right of course, and we're going through explorers in elementary school.

Speaker 2 (25:29):
Yes, of course they both dated race car drivers.

Speaker 1 (25:33):
No, no, that's not true. No, no, that's not it.
They are similar because Russell Wilson has claimed that he's
found the Fountain of youth.

Speaker 2 (25:45):
Well, hold on, Jean Staleon never found the Fountain of youth.

Speaker 1 (25:48):
They never found it. But yeah, they had that in common.
They were both searching for it.

Speaker 2 (25:51):
So I think Russell's not going to find the founder
of youth, is what you're saying. Oh, well, he says
he has.

Speaker 6 (25:57):
Maybe he didn't. He's just didn't want to share it
with anybody. He's living my I as a young guy.
Do you ever think about.

Speaker 2 (26:01):
That Ponce dealy owen man, you failed history class? Coming
maybe I'm ponstant Leon? How did I feel history? Look
at his faith?

Speaker 1 (26:08):
I feeled recess because you don't play, because I don't play.
But how do you feel about Russ saying the following
Russell Wilson said that he feels revived in every way
and that he has found the fountain of youth after
joining the Steelers. Rebirth in Pittsburgh, the rebirth of Slick

(26:29):
Sierra doing that one two step bringing her goodies to Pittsburgh.
And you know, Russ gotta be happy about the fact
that Seattle won a Super Bowl. Great chapter should have
won two Denver disaster. This is an opportunity for Russell
Wilson to really a new star. It's a clean slave,
to really show that I got some guests in the tank.

(26:49):
Does a good team around him. Keep in mind that
Mike Tomlin, who is invincible, the guy you know Pittsburgh's
had three coaches in the history of their franchise.

Speaker 2 (26:58):
He's been doing this since you Uh.

Speaker 1 (27:00):
I saw you a young mansuer of when he first
signed recently did you see that? I saw it on
social media like when he first signed in a picture
now and like he still looks good now, but man,
he was like a kid.

Speaker 2 (27:11):
Did he look like Omar EPs then as well? He
baby Omar Epps?

Speaker 3 (27:15):
How much of this, though, could be him hyping things
up to gain some momentum to beat out justin fields.

Speaker 1 (27:21):
Oh that's great, that's great speculation, some good self hype.
And I do wonder though, like, can you think though,
here's here's the question. We could draw from all four
major sports and that includes hot tal getting hockey, baseball, basketball, football,
you could say tennis, you could say golf. Tiger Woods
a couple of years ago. Do you think every great

(27:42):
athlete has it in them to give one last great push?
And I want to hear the times where you remember,
like you know that guy was, you know, as good
as dead on the field, and all of a sudden,
here he is, you know, winning the big game. This
is his I guess what third chance? But his second
chance Some times goodbye is a second chair. I mean,
he's not winning a super Bowl. But you could say
Gino Smith. We never thought Geno Smith would be a

(28:05):
starter in the NFL. Again, so finding the fountain of
youth in sports will take your feedback. Next a La
Russell Wilson at Covin and Rich I did retweet a
really cool Dan Patrick club. We're big fans of Dan.
In fact, I think we're gonna be filling in for
him a bunch this July. You know when people take
some vacation. So Dan Patrick was talking to Laurence Fishburn. Oh, Larry,

(28:28):
I love Larry Fishburn. You mean Cowboy Curtis.

Speaker 2 (28:31):
Wait?

Speaker 1 (28:33):
Wait, we've had on the show, great guy, Larry Fishburn,
Lawrence Hey, cowboy Curtis?

Speaker 2 (28:40):
Hey, pee wee.

Speaker 1 (28:42):
Does everybody know that Laurence Fishburn was Cowboy Curtis from
Pewey's Playhouse?

Speaker 2 (28:46):
That's common knowledge, right, I think?

Speaker 1 (28:48):
So?

Speaker 2 (28:48):
I mean not everybody knows that Dan Byer was Cherry though.
People don't know that I'm Cherry.

Speaker 1 (28:55):
But he was talking to Lawrence Fishburn, and this just
shows you. You know, we all have those friends or
family members that aren't into sports, and you're like, well,
what do you watch? What do you talk about? Lawrence
fishburne in this Dan Patrick clip? Who I love Dan
Patrick Show. I guess we'll be filling in a few weeks.
I'm pretty sure. Said he had no clue who Doc
Rivers was when he got the part. He's like, all right, now,

(29:16):
who's Doc Rivers?

Speaker 2 (29:18):
I love that about him?

Speaker 1 (29:19):
And Larry's like, I don't watch sports. So he went
to a barbecue. He invited Laurence Fishburn, invited Doc Rivers
and a mutual friend over his house for a cookout,
and he observed Doc Rivers arguing.

Speaker 2 (29:33):
At this barbecue.

Speaker 1 (29:34):
I get a fun way, like you know, busting chops,
and he's like I was just watching him and he
was talking to Dan Patrick about how it was easier
to play Doc Rivers, having no preconceived notion of Doc
Rivers's showing what a great actor, what a great actor
Laurence fishburn is. And if you're not watching that show,
get off your s and watch it. Gaus besides the
NBA finals and some hockey here and there, clipped three

(29:56):
episodes in on Hulu FX fantastic. Would you say this
would be a second wind for Laurence Fishburns. I haven't
seen him in much. I know he hosts that stuff
on the History Channel.

Speaker 2 (30:07):
This is like a twentieth win. I'm a fan. I mean,
I'm just trying to get back to this.

Speaker 1 (30:12):
Russell Wilson, it's Ed O'Neil's third win after Marriati Children,
Modern Family and know this.

Speaker 6 (30:18):
But Russell Wilson never heard of them. That's what we're
talking about. Spot you have to play in the show.

Speaker 1 (30:24):
Oh so careno Enrich, but Russell Wilson look Russell, Wilson says,
and Danny g makes a great point.

Speaker 2 (30:31):
Maybe he's just trying to.

Speaker 1 (30:33):
Strategy strategically make a case that he's feeling second in life,
so that he's the guy for the Steelers. But you
know what, because the sentiment really would be maybe you
start with Russ, but if anyone's going to prevail, it's
probably the younger, justin Fields. So maybe Russell is saying
this to be like, hey, everyone, I'm feeling young. He's
creating the narrative right that, Hey, I found the fountain

(30:55):
of youth. So I think that's a great way to
start things. I think it's a great way to think.
You know, I think we've seen a lot of examples
of people who seemed done and then they came back.
I think at the Fight Game a lot of times
people who you may have thought were done.

Speaker 2 (31:12):
And they came back. I don't want to give away
all the examples.

Speaker 1 (31:14):
So you know, we get you involved at A seven
seven ninety nine one Fox and at keV wan Ow
and Rich. But you mentioned Gino Smith. You thought he
was kind of done and found second life, second win
in Seattle. Finally done, I mean kind of done, Gino Smith,
everyone thought was done.

Speaker 2 (31:30):
Yeah, but again he proved you wrong.

Speaker 1 (31:34):
I thought he wasn't. I got I got a couple
of good ones for you. But again I don't want
to take all your answers.

Speaker 2 (31:40):
So if you want to.

Speaker 1 (31:41):
Chime in eight seven, seven, nine to nine on Fox,
I'll give you two that come to mind, and you
could add to the list people who genuinely have seem
to have found the fountain of youth in sports.

Speaker 2 (31:55):
You could say actors, movies, rock stars.

Speaker 1 (31:57):
Hey, sometimes you need to shake things up for that feeling,
for that motivation. So Vester Sloane on some documentary I
saw about him, He's like, yeah, like I'm moving from
moving from the West Coast to you gotta shake things up,
stay motivated, absolutely like he's moving his life because sometimes
you just need a fresh start. And that could help

(32:19):
Russell Wilson here. I mean, you could say he had
it in Denver, but maybe it just wasn't a good fit.
Stallone said, just in life, forget about sports to in life.
Sometimes you just need to clean the slate, shake things
up because it revives you, revitalizes you. I love you
that second win, that win beneath your wings. I loved

(32:40):
our time at Serrius xm Our time at ESPN. I
feel like we got we got some new energy here
at Fox Sports Radio, no question.

Speaker 2 (32:48):
I'll give you a couple other people that are in that.

Speaker 1 (32:51):
Russell Wilson Fountain, the Youth Conversation, boxer Anthony Joshua. Yeah,
without a doubt, Anthony Joshua seemed unbeatable for he to
eating Andy Ruiz knocked him on his ass and was like,
oh my god, what happened? And then he ended up
losing to Usak twice. And now you see how good

(33:12):
Usak is. He'd beat Tyson Fury, so there's no real
shame in losing to Usak two close fights. But now
Anthony Joshua, many people thought was done. He's won four
fights in a row, and Anthony Joshua is right there
and he top of the Headyway Division, knocked out Fransis
in Ghanu. So yeah, he seems to be back. And

(33:32):
then some people say, don't call it a comeback. I've
been here for years. You know, maybe he was never done.
We just thought he was done, but he proved everybody
else otherwise. An example that comes to mind for me,
and again we'll take your phone calls, and I think
it's great inspiration.

Speaker 2 (33:49):
It's great motivation.

Speaker 1 (33:50):
Like if you feel stale in your routine, you might
need a new change of scenery. It could be a
new job, could be a new relationship. You know, a
new relationship could revitalize you. All of a sudden, you
bought new clothes, you got a haircut. Look at you, man,
you look alive again. It could be Uh, it could
be anything.

Speaker 2 (34:08):
Dude.

Speaker 1 (34:08):
I thought Matt Carpenter found that with the Yankees a
few years ago before he got injured again. But dude,
everybody thought that guy was done. Remember the saying was
he fell off a cliff, forgot how to had a hit.
All of a sudden, he's hitting bombs with the Yankees again. Uh,
Jean Carlos Stanton, not that he was done. But guess what,
ines yo, he's he's got what sixteen dongs right now?

Speaker 2 (34:28):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (34:29):
Oh okay, yeah bombs? Oh sorry, bomb. I got a
couple that I'll throw in the mix too. Baseball pitcher
that we all thought was done though, stick a fork
in them parties over Chris Sale.

Speaker 2 (34:45):
Chris Sale is eight, he's eight and two.

Speaker 1 (34:49):
A whip under one. This guy's bringing it so Sale
found his momentum and his mojo on the mound again.

Speaker 2 (34:54):
I got one for you.

Speaker 1 (34:55):
And last year in the NFL, a guy that's on
the big deal that we all thought, eh, you know,
you know, nice sweet commercials, Baker, but you may be
done on the field.

Speaker 2 (35:02):
Baker.

Speaker 1 (35:03):
Mayfield found new life in Tampa where you sort of
wrote that guy off. Yeah, maybe it's an adjustment, like
you said, change of scenery, but you found something. You
found your second life, your second wind, your fountain of youth. Mike,
who runs this place, you know, Mike? He looks sick
Stone Cole Steve Boston, Yeah, who never heard of He
rides his mountain bike to the office. He says, rich

(35:25):
and Keel remember like he was a guy who you
remember the story of rich and Keel. You called him
rich I call him Rick. Rick and Keel you call
him Richie and Keel call him Richie. I knew him
as Richie. You guys are palace fistic. But yeah, reinventing yourself.
You know, you lose the strike zone. You find uh, oh,
this guy can hit. Let's put put him in center
field exactly.

Speaker 2 (35:43):
You know, rich I have one.

Speaker 3 (35:47):
I think he was out of baseball for like a
year back in twenty ten, came back for your Mets
in twenty sixteen.

Speaker 2 (35:52):
Bartolo Cologne.

Speaker 1 (35:54):
Yeoh, Bartolo again, reinventing yourself, reinventing fan favorite. Who doesn't
love Bartolo Cologne. Players that have found the fount of
youth that they've adjusted their game, Like you said, it
could be a guy that you're like, wow, he had
one or two off years. You're at the very end.
I know this is a stretch, so this isn't a

(36:14):
great example, but it was cool to see Poolhols to
end on a high note like he had a he
had a great final season because he had become a
shell of what he was.

Speaker 2 (36:24):
And then remember the home run derby.

Speaker 1 (36:25):
He made it to like the finals, and it's like, Yo,
Albert found his stroke enough to end on a on
a pretty reputable note.

Speaker 2 (36:34):
You're thinking hard, aren't you.

Speaker 1 (36:35):
No, I had one and then it's slipped my mind,
but I wanted to go to the phones anyway. I
think it's a It's a great approach for Russell Wilson,
though is it? Is it true? He could feel that
way now? So I'm not saying he's lying about it
because he's probably excited. He's got new haircut, he got
rid of the uh rid of the soul glow look
he had going on.

Speaker 2 (36:55):
He's got it, you know, nice and tight.

Speaker 1 (36:57):
Now he's got new colors in the uniform New City,
New fans. So he's probably feeling all of this. I'm
not denying that, but we don't see if it's true
until the game start. Think hard, because you're you're a
big you know, bigger than all of us. You're a
big boxing and Mma, guys, is there someone in the
in the vein of an Andy Ruiz or you know

(37:18):
a guy that for for you know, most fans thought
he's sort of done and then he all of a
sudden he's like, no, I'm not so fast.

Speaker 2 (37:25):
I got some gas in the tank.

Speaker 1 (37:27):
I think, yeah, there's there's so many examples of that,
but I want to go to the phones. Eight seven
seven ninety nine on Fox, a lot of people are
calling up about this, about the second wind, that second
chance at proven everybody who counted you out wrong. And
what's cool about it is you know, deep down the
side whether or not if you still got it. So
who do we got? Let's say, what's up to Matt

(37:49):
in South Dakota. Matt, you're Almo Conveno on retch. Hey
Buddy yop, Hey, Hey Matt, Matt Right, Oh see, we
say goodbye to Matt.

Speaker 2 (38:03):
But do you ever know what happened to him? Matt?
Somebody should check on Matt.

Speaker 1 (38:07):
Yeah, it's like that comedian one of the best bets
is Mitch Hebbard bitch Hedberg. He goes, people will beat
a rash of Johnson Party of five, and then no
one answers, they move on to the next person. He's like,
there is no one going to check on Johnson Party
of five?

Speaker 2 (38:21):
What happened? Where are they talk?

Speaker 1 (38:24):
Come?

Speaker 2 (38:24):
Nobody ever cares? No one cares about Johnson Party of five.
I hope Matt's all right. Terry in Mississippi? What's up? Terry?

Speaker 6 (38:30):
Want?

Speaker 4 (38:30):
I smoked himself to coat of me?

Speaker 2 (38:32):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (38:33):
I know, now you know he stole kind of won
of man.

Speaker 8 (38:38):
But I'll tell you what if you watch him on
streaming on tickets Amazon, False King with Sylvester Saloon's Awesome
show Man. And then the other is Harrison ford Man.
That guy just keeps on keeping on, just when.

Speaker 2 (38:53):
You think it might be like, yeah, he's done. He's
still got the juice.

Speaker 1 (38:56):
Huh.

Speaker 2 (38:56):
Thanks again. This transcends sports.

Speaker 1 (38:58):
This is about life and that's what makes the Russell
Wilson thing motivating. Makes you want to root for the guy, like, hey, yeah,
I'm down to see this comeback. I'm a bit biased, yeah,
because I'm an East Coast guy originally I grew up
on Long Island, so you could say totally jaded. But
Billy Joel's song he put out this year really is

(39:19):
a song that could have been in with like seventies
and eighties old school Billy Joel spot. I feel like
you agree with me that turn the lights back on.
Billy Joel's song this year wasn't some cheesy oh we
feel bad.

Speaker 2 (39:31):
We feel Oh it's Billy just listen.

Speaker 1 (39:33):
I think it was a good song, like he found
it in him with his co writer to make one
more good pop song. I think Travalta is a good
answer to you know, speaking of actors, not now, not recently,
but people counted him out before Quentin Tarantino put him
back in pulp fiction. He did a lick uluk who's
talking stuff, But he really got his second win and

(39:55):
reinvented him again. It's all about reinventing yourself too. Yeah,
don't do that with Don Johnson. Remember Don Johnson was
cool again. Quentin Tarantino is known for taking guys like
that that he counted out. I think his next project
was Luke Perry. Before he passed away, he did include
him in some projects. But again it's it's that. If
I'm not mistaken, Bartolo Cologne was a great example of

(40:18):
reinventing what he did because he used to throw hard
and he developed, you know, all this junk and reinvented
his game. You have to be able to reinvent yourself
too in a lot of ways, and I think that's
what Travolta did. We saw him in a different light
and it was a a great comeback for the guy
when people counted him out.

Speaker 2 (40:34):
Uh, let's go to Dave and Missouri. David, what's up, Bud?

Speaker 1 (40:38):
Anybody who comes to mind found when you were talking
about Fountain Youth.

Speaker 4 (40:42):
Yeah, well it's not sports, but it's acting.

Speaker 2 (40:46):
Tell me you don't think of Danny de Vito.

Speaker 4 (40:48):
Was Frank Reynolds instead of Matilda or twin with Donald Schwartzenegger.

Speaker 1 (40:52):
You know, always Sonny took the Vito and you're right,
Danny Davido. I would think of twins and taxi and
you know a couple of eighties things. But yeah, Danny
Gito had a whole, you know, whole new world with
always sunny on that. Let's go to your phone calls,
Danny g lining up all the calls. Let's go to

(41:13):
I want to go, Travis and l a he I
had a quick thought about Aaron Rodgers and maybe he'll
chime in on this too.

Speaker 2 (41:16):
What's up, Travis?

Speaker 4 (41:19):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (41:19):
And with the fountain.

Speaker 4 (41:20):
The thing about Travolta though, is now all I think
about is that drop where he mispronounced that lady's.

Speaker 2 (41:25):
Name adele d. That was bad. That was bad. He
needs to redeem himself from that too. I agree. What's
up man, Aaron Rodgers?

Speaker 4 (41:36):
For Aaron Rodgers?

Speaker 3 (41:37):
You know why he missed practice?

Speaker 7 (41:38):
Right?

Speaker 9 (41:39):
Why is that he was sampling vegan hot dogs with
Joey chestnuts.

Speaker 2 (41:45):
Big update, by the way, Big update is a big
update for a big.

Speaker 1 (41:48):
Major Oh can't wait. Thank you, Travis, so hey think
about it. Chime in at eight seven seven nine nine
m F box so you could hit us up at
Covine and Rich. You know, you look at that division
the AFC North, and man, we were talking about last week,
that division is so competitive that you could make a
genuine argument for either of the teams, that any of

(42:09):
the teams in that division to win it, right, hey,
Lamar Jackson. They were favored to go represent the AFC
last year and they had it. They you know, had
a bad playoff game. The Bengals get Joe Burrow back,
The Browns are going to have their first full season
of Deshaun Watson, and the Steelers made the postseason last

(42:30):
year with who with quarterback? Now they got Russ and
Justin Fields to see what they got. I think the
AFC North is going to be unbelievably fun to watch.
So hey, imagine So let me ask you this. I
wrote down this one final no wondering if you really could,
if you really lost a step. Unless Russell Wilson has

(42:52):
reinvented himself and changed his game? Is he just thinking
positive right now? Can you really find the fountain of youth?
Can Mike Tyson find it one more time against Jake Paul?
I mean, he'll never be Mike Tyson that we remember,
but could he could he find?

Speaker 2 (43:08):
Could he find? You know?

Speaker 1 (43:09):
When Connor McGregor comes back. Could he really be that
guy again? Does he really want to be that guy again?
It's not easy. It's a great mindset to have, but
in reality it happens so few and far between. You
might have one great moment, you know, George Foreman is
a great example of that.

Speaker 2 (43:25):
You might have a good one.

Speaker 1 (43:26):
Yeah, George Forman really brought him back. No, a knockout,
like you know, finding that fountain of youth? Do you
still have it? But are you willing to readjust your game?
That's really the key here. So while we take the
rest of the phone calls, let me pose a final
tier to this question. If Russell Wilson has found the

(43:48):
fountain of youth a la constant leone, like you said earlier,
what is the expectation Mike Tomlin just signs an extension.
He's there, hasn't finished under five hundred ever? Are you
are you saying Russ healthy, Russ, fountain of youth? This
is a ten plus win team that makes the playoffs.
That's what they're Yeah, that's what If you're a Steelers fan,

(44:10):
are you better make that quarterback decision soon though? Like,
because you need to figure that out before we uh,
even start speculating on that.

Speaker 2 (44:18):
I'm so intrigued.

Speaker 1 (44:20):
Usually I'm not intrigued by Pittsburgh to be honest, It's
one of those teams that just sort of exists in
my mind, like I'm you know, they haven't been the
most exciting in my mind. But now it is, all right,
let's go to Matt. He's back in South Dakota. Thank goodness,
Hi Matt.

Speaker 4 (44:35):
Yeah, can you hear me?

Speaker 2 (44:36):
Yeah? But we got you.

Speaker 4 (44:38):
So I want to talk about, uh, Brett Barr because
when he came to Minnesota. You know, he went to
the Jets after Green Bay and we all thought, man,
he's gonna he's not gonna have he's not gonna do it.
And with the Jets and comes to Minnesota, Man, that
is one of the greatest seasons he ever had. And
I just thought, you know, was so was so happy,

(45:00):
not just for my team, but for him too.

Speaker 1 (45:02):
You know, Honestly, it's harder in sports in life. I
think you have a greater chance sports. You know, sports
is humbling because it's your athleticism. Father time gets you
no matter what in life. Like Rich said, I hate
to use us as the example, but when we started
at Fox, sports radio. You know, we came here with
so much determination and motivation, excited to be here, That's
what I'm saying. A new scenery, a new workplace, a

(45:26):
new relationship. Yeah, all these things really can motivate you
in regular life.

Speaker 2 (45:32):
Sports is tough.

Speaker 1 (45:33):
Let me ask you, being that your other love besides
boxing and but cheeks rock music. Can you think is
there any rock band that's put out a good track,
a good album where you're.

Speaker 2 (45:46):
Like, yo, they haven't done anything in twenty years.

Speaker 1 (45:47):
People always counted Metallica out, you know, at a certain point,
and I think they came back with seventy two seasons
pretty strong.

Speaker 2 (45:54):
There's there's Yeah.

Speaker 1 (45:54):
You know, it's tough in music too, because you know,
time goes on and they expect you to be the
but you're trying to move on. You could reframe that
question in this way. Is there a classic artist in rock,
hip hop, anything where you'd say I want to hear
their new stuff?

Speaker 2 (46:12):
It's tough, right, that's really tough. Well, people have been
waiting for Andre three thousand for a while.

Speaker 1 (46:18):
Yeah, then he put a flute album, right, Oh gosh.

Speaker 2 (46:24):
You know what I almost forgot about it? I like
the new m and m a lot, But I don't.

Speaker 1 (46:28):
I feel like he never dropped off, though maybe diehard
fans and the younger generation does it to connect as much.

Speaker 3 (46:32):
But I've always liked that also Detox from Doctor Dre.
Been waiting on that for over a decade.

Speaker 1 (46:38):
Yeah, sometimes it's like it's a stinker, like you said,
like guns n' rowses and that, Oh and a new
gun in the Rose finally comes out. I no one
really cares about it at that point. It's really hard
to recapture that magic. So if Russell Wilson's able to
find that somehow in a new space, because he's still
young enough to be the guy.

Speaker 2 (46:56):
But did he lose a step? I don't know.

Speaker 1 (46:58):
That's why I thought Jean Carlos Stanton was a good answer, Rich,
because why has he seemed to find the fountain of
youth this year? He trimmed down and lost a lot
of weight. He adjusted, he adjusted, He made that adjustment
this year. So two more quickies, then we'll play midweek
major with Spotty Larry Game. What's up Larry in Washington State?

Speaker 2 (47:17):
Hey Larry, hey Man?

Speaker 4 (47:19):
What about Randy the natural Cature? He won the title
as a light heavyweights and then came back and wanted
again as a heavyweight and now they became a movie star.

Speaker 1 (47:28):
No, that's awesome. He's had a great career for sure.
That's a really good one. I like that one.

Speaker 2 (47:34):
What's up? dB?

Speaker 5 (47:35):
I got one that didn't come to fruition on the
heels of the Guns N' Roses?

Speaker 2 (47:39):
Another talk?

Speaker 5 (47:40):
Don't you think the in syncrenion recently just kind of died?
People always wondered and it was.

Speaker 1 (47:46):
That variety r just two layers of this dand because
in Sync the single sort of flopped.

Speaker 2 (47:52):
It was part of that Trolls movie.

Speaker 1 (47:53):
Timberlake was like, I'll do this song, but there the
record labels in Live Nation, all these companies are bidding
over who could do their tour because this is gonna
be a bunch of forty year old women that want
to see him on tour and Dan Byer and Dan Byer.

Speaker 2 (48:04):
And I watch it in sank camp.

Speaker 1 (48:06):
Let me tell you, though, you're right the new single
was like I leave that off the tour.

Speaker 5 (48:10):
Yeah, and I think the stuff with Timberlake and Britney
Spears didn't help any Yeah, you.

Speaker 2 (48:15):
Know, thing sucked all though. I also think Timberlake wanted
to make it more about him, despite.

Speaker 1 (48:20):
The fact that it should have been about Yeah, we're
seeing the shift now, but all the momentum went out
the window and he started getting that backlash from Britney Spears.
And by the way, just coincidentally, she posted on her
Instagram yesterday heard dancing to Justin music saying like this
is the best like and it's like, what.

Speaker 2 (48:34):
Is she doing anyway?

Speaker 1 (48:36):
But no, not to talk about boy bands, but damn,
Buyer's right, it's uh, it's fun. You were saying Justin Timberlake.
I think now monetarily on a tour in sync is
more valuable than Justin.

Speaker 2 (48:47):
So I got one for you, bro, I got one
for you.

Speaker 1 (48:49):
Ready, speaking of music and boy bands, kind of you
think anyone thought Ricky Martin would be anything after Menudo
and he comes out with shees in to sup us
this shot. That guy came out like a superstar. He
was a soap star and then came out top of

(49:10):
that was the Latin explode. But that he did she
bangs and I'm like, he doesn't know.

Speaker 2 (49:14):
No, man, no.

Speaker 1 (49:15):
One expected that dude to come out like a superstar. Again,
I'm telling you that was the second win for him
back then. But again, it's not easy. I think in
the game of life. In the game of life, you're
you're more prone to have a comeback and really reinvent
yourself and and have a second win than a second chance.

Speaker 2 (49:33):
And you are in sports. Sports is what makes it tougher.

Speaker 7 (49:38):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to
listen live.

Speaker 1 (49:50):
Hey, we're Cavino and Rich Fox Sports Radio every day
five to.

Speaker 2 (49:54):
Seven pm Eastern. But here's the thing. We never have
enough time to get to everything we want to get.

Speaker 1 (49:58):
To and that's why we have I have a brand
new podcast called over Promised. You see, we're having so
much fun in our two hour show. We never get
to everything, honestly, because this guy is over promising things
we never have time for.

Speaker 2 (50:11):
Yeah, you blubber list me.

Speaker 1 (50:13):
Well, you know what it's called over promise. You should
be good at it because you've been over promising women
for years. Well, it's a Covino and Rich after show,
and we want you to be a part of it.
We're gonna be talking sports, of course, but We're also
gonna talk life and relationships, and if Rich and I
are arguing about something or we didn't have enough time,
it will continue on our after show called over Promised. Well,
if you don't get enough Covino and Rich, make sure

(50:33):
you check out over Promised and also uncensored by the way,
so maybe we'll go at it even a little harder.
It's gonna be the best after show podcast.

Speaker 2 (50:41):
Of all time.

Speaker 1 (50:41):
There you go, over Promising, and remember you could see
it on YouTube, but definitely join us. Listen over Promised
with Covino and Rich on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts
or wherever you get your podcasts. Let's let's get into
Midweek Major. Don't want to I don't want to waste
any more time. Spotty's got his stories lined up.

Speaker 2 (51:03):
Let's go hit it.

Speaker 7 (51:07):
Covino and Rich get you over the middle of the week.
When mid Week Major we throw sports and pop culture
headlines and topics at the fellas and it's like the kids.

Speaker 4 (51:20):
Say, that's summit.

Speaker 8 (51:21):
We definitely leader.

Speaker 7 (51:23):
See in our scoring mid Week Major.

Speaker 9 (51:27):
Ah boy, I hear the horns.

Speaker 2 (51:40):
That means you've made it to the middle of the week.

Speaker 3 (51:42):
Before we hand things over to the number one and
only hosts of this segment. We're gonna roll the two
big red love dice in the main studio.

Speaker 2 (51:49):
There, yeah, to see who goes first. I just rolled
a seventh. Chs, Can I beat a seven? It's a ritual.
Hell yeah, I beat a seven.

Speaker 6 (51:57):
Nine.

Speaker 2 (51:57):
Let's go. It gets first take.

Speaker 3 (52:01):
And now, ladies and gentlemen, the most famous person from
Scotch Playing's New Jersey besides Judy bloom its spotty Boy.

Speaker 6 (52:09):
All right, well, I'm not gonna keep you waiting any longer.
I've been teasing it the whole show on this day
the Hot Dog News. Oh boy, we haven't seen the
last of Joey Chestnut, and I'll tell you why, because
he and Kobyashi No Kobyashi with a last face off
in two thousand and nine, will be part of a
live Netflix special coming this Labor Day. Chessnut Versus Kobyashi

(52:31):
Unfinished Beef will stream live on Labor Day Monday, Yes,
to close out the summer.

Speaker 2 (52:38):
It's a showdown fifteen years in the making. She's current record.
It's three. Where is this chess Nut?

Speaker 6 (52:44):
So everyone thinks the timing of the announcement is very
interesting being as he just was banned and uh so, yeah,
we'll see this.

Speaker 1 (52:50):
Henricka Madri ban from the Nathan's hotth Dog Getting contest
on fourth of July because he's signed with the vegan
company Finish. But he went public yesterday saying how he
was aren't broken about it, how sad he was about it.
Did he have this up his sleeve the whole time
with Netlis. That's great, that's a great question, he announced.
That's a great question for someone that goes first. Hey,

(53:13):
Cavino took it. I agree with everything he said. No,
the timing is what is it interesting? I think it's major.
We watch a lot of we watch a lot of
dumb things. You know, we're gonna watch Kobyashi, Joey just
the Unfinished Beef.

Speaker 2 (53:27):
God, it's awesome. It's such a great title.

Speaker 1 (53:30):
I'm sorry I jumped in there first, but I also agreed.
It's a very major believe it or not, he's the
face of hot dog eating. It's a big deal. Everybody
knows his name, and you're forgetting a major part of
the story. Kobyashi announced his retirement, so that means he's
coming out of retirement just to do this. Yeah, for
medical reason, for health reasons. He said he want to

(53:52):
improve his health, but he's doing this for one more
shot at the title, to prove who's best in a
live Netflix.

Speaker 2 (53:58):
I think that's great major. I like him.

Speaker 6 (54:01):
Quick quick follow up though, Uh. Speaking of chestnut his
the new favorite Georgia. Jeffasper, who we talked about yesterday,
has weighed in on his absence, saying that there will
be an asterisks on his win if he competes because
it's not going to be the same without Joey Chestnutt
being there. And he says that Joey Chestnutt not only

(54:21):
is the biggest competitor but also hypes up the crowd
at the event, gets everything going.

Speaker 2 (54:27):
So I don't know if you want to comment on that.
We don't have to, but that's big. That's that's a
good admission, all right.

Speaker 6 (54:33):
Travis Kelsey, of course the Weekly Kelsey News has continues
to follow in his big brother's footsteps. In the New
Heights podcast this week, they were speculating about what Travis
would do in his retirement now that Jason's retired, and
Travis said he didn't want to be in an office.
They talked about maybe running an NFL franchise. He said, no,
I want to go the way of he actually said

(54:54):
Tony Romo and Greg Olsen, not his brother, and become
a broadcaster. Said he wants to be the talking that
calls the games. So I'm sure plenty of networks will
move someone aside to make room for him. Midweiker major,
that's major.

Speaker 1 (55:06):
You better sign that deal before he breaks up a
tail as Swift, I'll say it right. I mean, it's major,
And you know, I think the bigger story is a
Taylor Swift his you know, his girlfriend was wiping snot
off her face at a concert, and she's so popular.

Speaker 2 (55:19):
That it's the main story on TMZ.

Speaker 1 (55:21):
I think the headline should be he's following in his
brother's dirty footsteps because neither one of them watched their feet, right,
That's what.

Speaker 2 (55:29):
But I do think it's.

Speaker 1 (55:29):
A major story because it shows again second life, second win,
there's life after football, and that's in broadcasting. Not everybody
could do it. Bone Y're as popular as they are.
I think you lean into it.

Speaker 2 (55:41):
You know who this effects who?

Speaker 1 (55:43):
Everyone that works for Fox, CBS, Amazon, They're like, oh,
someone's gonna lose their gig the minute Travis Kelsey says,
I want in. There's only so many spots, right, that
is for all broadcasters to worry if not true, you know,
so hey, step your game up, broadcasters and props to him,
all right.

Speaker 6 (56:00):
Dallas cowboy Michael Parsons, Yeah, needs a huge reality check.
So a few days ago, Bleacher Report asked Micah and c. J.
Stroud how they think they could fare as an MLB hitter.
The question was, if you played one hundred and sixty
two games with five at bats, how many hits do
you think you could get? And Parsons had no problem
saying that he could have a two hundred batting average,

(56:22):
which equates to about eight hundred and ten hits out
of those one hundred and sixty two Or no, I'm sorry,
on hundred sixty two.

Speaker 2 (56:31):
He could average.

Speaker 1 (56:32):
He's saying he could average one for five and one
for five. Impossible. Guys like Pete Alonzo hit two hundred,
Kyle Schwarber bets like one Nike.

Speaker 6 (56:41):
They actually gave Mookie Betts's at batting average of three
oh seventy's like, oh yeah, based on that easy two hundred.

Speaker 1 (56:47):
Yeah, this is the you know, horse maneure, I think
the story's major because he's so dopey to think that.

Speaker 2 (56:54):
I think this is a mid story again.

Speaker 1 (56:56):
A good for him for having the great confidence to
think that he could do that, But no way. Again,
like Rich said, there's so many big leaguers that are
batting on the interstatement now.

Speaker 2 (57:05):
A big leader like stars, yes, stars.

Speaker 1 (57:08):
And for him to think that he could do that
against these guys who were flame throwers. Now, remember we
grew up at a time where if one picture was
thrown close to one hundred miles per hour, you're like, wow,
now you got nobody's thrown one hundred four miles per hour.
No wait, all right, speaking of big leaguers. The female
Oilers fan who went viral for flashing her chest at
a selling I believe it was May thirty first, yeah,

(57:30):
versus the Dallas Stars, Well, we finally found out who
she is, the women who we only know his Kate
appeared on the Spitting chick Litz podcast on Monday and
talked about her clip.

Speaker 2 (57:40):
She said she blames Rich.

Speaker 6 (57:42):
You watch out because she blamed Cheesy's and Truly's for
the inspiration behind getting caught up in the moment and
showing she had nothing planned it. Wasn't a thing, and
she apparently tried to squash the video. She actually reported
the video on social media, thought it was going away
scrubbed all her social was like, I'm good, and then
it came back with a engine, so uh now she's uh.

Speaker 2 (58:02):
Oh.

Speaker 6 (58:02):
By the way, they asked the most important question, and
no they are not midweek or major.

Speaker 2 (58:07):
Let me tell you, I think it's a mid story.

Speaker 1 (58:09):
We've seen boots before, you know, you've never seen but
you know what, I got boots. I'm more impressed that
she shouted out cheesyes, which is my favorite Canadian treat.

Speaker 2 (58:17):
And truly your favorite, your favorite trick. Just so admit.

Speaker 1 (58:21):
I think it's major because that means one day rich
might be flashed.

Speaker 2 (58:24):
From the world. So what's that? You can only hope.
I also think it's major that there's a show called
what is it called split in chick Lits. We don't
know that cartools the hockey Brough.

Speaker 1 (58:35):
I think that Kate is kind of hot actually, so
I think it's mid I'll go mid on it. Well,
thanks guys, thank you, Spotty Damn Buyer's got your update,
d b UPDB.

Speaker 5 (58:46):
I'm still waiting on the status of one Chris stops
Porzingis for tonight's Game three of the NBA Finals, considered
questionable because of that leg injury. Celtics are up to
to oh but the scene shifts to Dallas tonight eight
thirty East Time for Game three. Basketball Hall of Famer
Jerry West died today at the age of eighty six.
Helped build the showtime Lakers, also was the president of

(59:08):
the Grizzlies and spend time in the front office of
the Clippers and Warriors. And then there was his playing career,
where he was an All Star every single season, went
to nine NBA Finals, won a title with the Lakers
in seventy two, and in fact, in nineteen sixty nine,
when they lost the NBA Finals, was still named the
NBA Finals MVP. Jerry West again was eighty six years old.
