Standing your chance to win a swiggy Who's the Last
One Standing?
Speaker 1 (00:50):
It's our favorite trivia game.
Speaker 5 (00:53):
You know.
Speaker 1 (00:53):
I'm in town for Father's Day.
Speaker 6 (00:55):
Rich.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
I was talking to my mom about the show. She
loves it, and she's like, I can't listen to one's standing.
It gets me so nervous.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
Well, get ready and let's be rocking out. I also
got to talk Patrick Mahomes. Actually we're in the middle
of that right now.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
Yeah, you know, before he gets back to Mahomes, I
want to go around the room for a second, sure,
and just bring a couple sports notes up that I
think we'll get people excited in the studio. Number one,
your boy Garrett Cole set for a season debut on Wednesday.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
Can't wait for that. That's big news.
Speaker 3 (01:27):
If the Yankees aren't good enough already, add Garrett Cole
to the bank.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
You know, the Red Sox had their number over the
weekend and there was that debate of the Yanks are
sitting pretty right, so do you continue pushing a guy
like Garrett Cole in the minor leagues just to ramp
it up a little bit and take your time with
the guy. But if he's not gaining anything in the
minor leagues, just do you throw him out there? There
(01:52):
was that debate and they're going with him on Wednesday.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
So well, we talked about my Mets and all held
Grimace the other team. I love the forty nine ers,
Dan Byer, I'm sure you saw this in your update. Well,
you know they re signed Juan Jennings and their first
round draft pick Ricky Pearsall Brandon Ayuk saying forty nine
ers quote don't want me back? Is there any more
(02:17):
to that story other than a.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
There to me? I?
Speaker 6 (02:21):
I didn't see that story, and I'm talking as a
newsperson on why I didn't include it because there was
no context to it.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
Yeah, I saw that. It was like, do you mean
this season or permanently? Are they in negotiations?
Speaker 5 (02:33):
Yeah, he was talking to Jaden Daniels.
Speaker 6 (02:35):
And what was odd was it came from Ayuk's Twitter account,
but he was being filmed on his phone, so somebody
was filming him. It just felt very strange. I don't
and again the offer of the reports with that they've
offered him what twenty six million dollars and he doesn't
want that, So I don't know if that's really them
not wanting.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
Him the right amount of money for Ayuk because I
think he is elite but not top guy Lee. So hey, listen,
they were former teammates at Arizona State, Jaden Daniels, Brandon Ayuk,
and again the forty nine ers seem to have backup
plans if him or Debo were to go, because again
they've they're pretty forty nine or wide receiver heavy right now. Yeah,
(03:16):
So I thank you, dB, Now back to Mahomes. Dan Byer,
the weenie by the way that didn't go to his reunion.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
According to Cory Well, I had a feeling. I'm not
saying Dan Byer is a weenie at all. Dan Byer
is one of the coolest guys we work with, no doubt,
most knowledgeable. But I have to ask why so Patrick Mahomes,
here's the backstory, is skipping his reunion and he does
feel bad. He's, like I said, in all my best
(03:42):
my classmates, I wish you could be there, But the
reunions at September, so I'm gonna be doing my football thing.
So September, White House High School class of twenty fourteen
has the reunion minus their most popular student, Patrick Mahomes.
Guess what, He's got big things going on. He wishes
(04:02):
he could be there, so get perspective.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
I first thought though, was why not make it during
the Chiefs bye week? And I'm being serious because the
high school could pick that when the reunion is. I mean,
it's like, it's not like the high school like this
is the week and this is the only week, Like
if you want the biggest star from your high school's
history to be there, why don't you ask Patrick?
Speaker 1 (04:22):
When could you make it right?
Speaker 2 (04:23):
Exactly right? And he wants to go. That's why this
is a story. Now, the whole story is.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
Dude, when your kid has a birthday party, you ask
her best friends first, like is this date gonna work
for you? Because we're not gonna have a birthday party
if her best friends aren't there.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
There's always somebody that doesn't make it. He actually wants
to go, that's the thing. Yeah, you know some people
don't go because they're too cool.
Speaker 1 (04:46):
Is Dan Byer too cool? I can't wait to hear again.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
Maybe the travel was too much, maybe something was going on.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
I don't know, but Patrick Mahomes wants to go.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
And he said his wife's was last year, so she
graduated the year before. She's on year eleven, as he
goes on to say, Brittany Mahomes, So you know he'd
want to go.
Speaker 1 (05:07):
But that's when football starts, so he can't as of now.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
And I'm here to say that I'm not one of
those guys that looked forward to going or anything like
that at all. But I did go and I did
have a good time ten and twenty, and believe it
or not, I graduated high school in ninety four, which
I hate to admit. So if they had another one,
I'd probably still go. And I'm not some raw raw hometown.
Even though I'm proud to be from Union, New Jersey.
(05:33):
My family still lives there, you know. I'm not some
dude who lives through the yearbook and peaked in high school.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
So I want to go back and relive the glory days.
That's not it. I just I don't want to be
too cool, and there is a part of me that's like, yeah,
why not? Why not? And I want to know why
dan Byer didn't go.
Speaker 6 (05:55):
Well, you mentioned travel. I mean mine's back in Wisconsin,
and that's I go back probably about two or three
times a year, you know, I get various seasons and whatnot.
So at that point, I think we had we had
a gosh, we're My thirtieth is next year, so I
(06:16):
don't even I assume that they had a twenty fifth.
Speaker 5 (06:18):
I don't even know if they did or not.
Speaker 6 (06:19):
To be honest with you, I think that they had
a twentieth though that I ended up missing. But yeah,
just it wasn't as important to me, unfortunately, as as
it is to you.
Speaker 5 (06:29):
To you guys.
Speaker 6 (06:30):
And it's nothing against them, you know, it's not a
you know the people that I still talk to and
keep in touch with, are you know those people? It's
not the well if I didn't talk to you then
and talk to you now sort of thing.
Speaker 5 (06:43):
It's just yeah, no.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
Real f to travel three thousand miles essentially.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
I do honestly, Dan, I do understand. Yeah, I understand
where you're coming from.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
And social media has really changed that.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
Yeah, our parents would go to their reunions and be like,
I didn't see this person in thirty twenty years.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
And now it's like you go on Facebook, you can
see him. I get that angle of it.
Speaker 6 (07:06):
So here's just like I went back to my hometown
once and I was standing in line in my hometown's
like nine ten thousand people and I was standing in line.
We have a Walgreens in town, and there was a
girl ahead of me who I went to school with
that I am Facebook friends with that I recognized, but
she didn't recognize me at all. And your point of
(07:29):
you guys of like not knowing names and whatnot, Like
I was kind of like, well, if she doesn't recognize
me and we're Facebook friends and it's probably not that
important to her that I'm randomly in Walgreens. So I
just didn't say anything to that point. And so that's
kind of my point about it, of like, I don't
even know if I'd register with half of the people
(07:49):
that were even at the reunion that they have now
it's gone on so far that you've kind of forgot
about it.
Speaker 3 (07:55):
There's so many layers to it, whether it's Mahomes or
just you know you or I.
Speaker 2 (07:58):
I think that could be at a context too, because
sometimes you don't expect to see people you know.
Speaker 5 (08:04):
In your story absolutely.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
Whatever, So out of context, you're not really in that
mindset of did I know this guy?
Speaker 1 (08:11):
Do I know this guy?
Speaker 2 (08:12):
It's all these factors, But you know what, your answer
is understandable because sometimes there's a level of resentment sometimes
that keeps people away from these things, and that opens
up the conversation to, well, it's not Patrick Mahomes in
this case, but there's always somebody that doesn't show up,
whether it be a reboot of a TV series or
(08:32):
like I mentioned before, that brat Pack documentary rich that
I watched over the weekend, it could be a team.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
Okay, we're getting together the eighty eight Dodgers, and there's
someone that sits it out.
Speaker 6 (08:42):
Yeah, there's a difference between the brad pack and the
three hundred kids you went to high school with.
Speaker 3 (08:46):
You're part of the popular brat pack in Wisconsin.
Speaker 6 (08:50):
I'm just saying, like to go back and Andrew McCarthy.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
To catch ump. Yeah, it is enough.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
Don't you realize there's always someone that sits it out,
like in that case it was Judd Nelson and Molly Ringwald.
Speaker 6 (09:06):
Yeah, but they're not reuniting with the entire crew and everybody.
So that's that's I mean, there was five or six
of them that all had the pretty much exact same experience.
Speaker 3 (09:16):
Well, I think a lot of times, and it is
I'll be honest, if you are of note, and I'm
not saying I am or you are anyone, but.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
When you go Patrick Mahomes, well he is.
Speaker 3 (09:26):
He's clearly of note, the most you know, one of
the greatest NFL quarterbacks of all time.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
There's a weird stance, Danny G.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
Do you feel like if someone doesn't go back, it's
considered one of two things, like, yo, they think they're
too cool to go, But then if they go, it
could be like, look at them showing off, Like I think.
Speaker 5 (09:46):
It's sort of one of those shine line to walk.
Speaker 7 (09:48):
I missed my ten, but most recently my twenty happened
and they actually asked me to DJ the graduation, so
I went, but I was behind my turntables the whole time.
Speaker 5 (09:58):
So have you worked on your Yeah?
Speaker 7 (10:00):
It was unique because I was playing the music for
everyone else to have fun.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
Yeah that's kind of cool, right because they knew what
you were up to and that's your thing.
Speaker 1 (10:08):
So hey, guys, your thoughts on this? And I agree
with rich.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
Actually, how did they not rearrange who's the president of
a class of twenty fourteen White House High School? Where
they can't rearrange this reunion for Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker 1 (10:23):
In fact, I.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
Think I think like he should be the guest of
honor where that's the mandatory thing if he's willing to go,
and that's what he's saying he would do if he
didn't have his football season, And there's.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
Always got to be a reason.
Speaker 3 (10:35):
And sometimes you have to be empathetic and understand why
someone would or wouldn't want to go, Like if someone
feels like they're it sounds terrible, but if someone feels
like they're a disappointment, like oh I was valedictorian, I'm
now I suck or you know, I was the prom
king and the captain of the football team and now
I'm fat and bald and divorce three times. Like, there's
reasons why people don't want to have small talk because
(10:56):
those what are those events usually can be now, hey,
how are you?
Speaker 1 (10:59):
How are you is if the answer is pretty terrible,
pal or you have that.
Speaker 2 (11:04):
Look forward mentality. You don't want to look bank you
close the year years ago, blah blah blah.
Speaker 1 (11:09):
So you're talking.
Speaker 3 (11:10):
You know, that's one reason and the other the other
thing is you may not want to go because it
does no good for you. But then then there is
a layer of like I if you do go and
you're you are successful, there is a sense of is
that person bragging. I'll give you a quick story and
then we'll move on.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
It's kind of depressing to see how old everybody else got. Yeah,
at least that's our mindset, no matter who it is.
It's like, man, I hope I don't look that old.
Well to that point with a cane at my last
one Colvino, to that point, the age. We remember those kids.
Speaker 7 (11:46):
They have kids that are that age, some of our classmates.
Speaker 1 (11:49):
Yeah, by the way, who'd you go to high school with? Chlessey,
Freddy Blassie, mister Fuji dude.
Speaker 2 (11:55):
We're broadcasting live from the tyrack dot com studio tirat

Speaker 1 (12:05):
Buying should be.
Speaker 2 (12:06):
What are your thoughts about this my home story? I
actually think it's it's it shows you what a humble
guy he is. It makes me like him even more.
Speaker 3 (12:13):
I saw clip by the way with h I have
a funny story. But I saw a clip with I
believe it was Bradley Cooper m hm. And it's not
the cliff where he's in this audience, So one of
those actor studio things.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
You've seen that clip, right, Yeah?
Speaker 3 (12:26):
I saw clip of Bradley Cooper talking about how his
high school friends are the ones that humble him most.
So he goes to these things and no one treats
him special, and he loves it like they like. He's
always good to remember where you came from? Rich and yeah,
that's that's a nice part. Maybe bump it to the
one or two old teachers that show up but don't
has it. Don't shy away.
Speaker 2 (12:45):
To something about it that grounds you too, you know,
forget about just being humbled. It's like, you know, I
didn't realize they'd care that much, but it was really
nice to see and talk to or catch up to
or or sort of as big bygones when I ran
into so and so.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
It's sort of healthy.
Speaker 5 (13:05):
I think.
Speaker 3 (13:06):
I think there's a layer of hey, we're all adults,
this is fun, get over it. It's different, you know,
seeing uh, you know, seeing Vanessa who you went to
high school with on Facebook with their kids is different
than having a drink and catching up and be like, hey,
you know I haven't seen you. You know, like a
real conversation is nice, you.
Speaker 1 (13:25):
Know what happens to every once in a while.
Speaker 2 (13:26):
I was like, you know, I really I used to
have a crush on you, and you have to play
the like.
Speaker 3 (13:31):
No way, no way, really, Now you got to hide
an affair you're gonna have now you got to hide
an affair.
Speaker 1 (13:37):
I get it.
Speaker 7 (13:37):
That's why they probably don't don't let Facebook, don't want
social media.
Speaker 1 (13:43):
He was the leader of the brought back Rich.
Speaker 7 (13:46):
I've heard people say that Facebook is the reason that
they don't go because they already keep tabs with people.
Not everyone's on social media. I talked to several people
that I went to school with that were not on Facebook,
and so I did lose touch with him. So you'd
be surprized at how many people just avoid social media.
Speaker 5 (14:02):
How did they know about the reunion?
Speaker 7 (14:04):
Then, because it's the only face, they're the ones that
have to be tracked down by the class president.
Speaker 3 (14:10):
I was gonna say, those guys, think of how the
screet a woman would be that's not on Facebook.
Speaker 1 (14:13):
I'm kidding.
Speaker 3 (14:16):
There was one story I'll tell you from I have
two quick stories from one of my reunions, Allah Patrick
Mahomes and then we'll uh, we'll move on to last
one standing. Everyone's favorite game on a Monday NBA Finals tonight.
Speaker 1 (14:27):
Can't wait. So there was one kid that was sort
of a misfit in high school.
Speaker 3 (14:33):
And you know, you grow up and a lot of
times the I want to say bullies, but on the
East Coast, the guido kids of the jocks, they.
Speaker 1 (14:42):
Might have picked on that kid, like time has.
Speaker 3 (14:44):
Passed and we're all grown ups now. I went to
high school on Long Island with a bunch of Italian
Guido kids and we were at our reunion and one
of the kids that they sort of picked on wasn't
over it, and it was sort of an embarrass saying
moment for a bunch of thirty year olds at the time,
where they were like, Hey, what's going on, John, how
(15:05):
are you? And he just got all like, oh, you're
saying hi to me now, and blah blah blah, and
it's like, dude's not being embarrassing. Like the the I
guess it's easier for the police to get over it.
But they seem to be like, hey, well so we're
adults now.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
But the I guess.
Speaker 2 (15:20):
The flip side, though, it is weird for people to
assume that everybody forgot that.
Speaker 1 (15:25):
On the flip side, it is strange.
Speaker 6 (15:27):
I hope you guys don't take offense to this, because
I'm going to give you a compliment and then be critical. Sure,
you guys are very successful in your fields. Thanks very successful.
You've got a long you got you know, a standing thing.
And there are certain things in certain people's lives that
they don't necessarily want to bring out or do or
their lives haven't maybe not that they know, but there's
(15:49):
so to the fact of people maybe not going, Like
that guy that you just talked about probably had been
waiting for this day to show everybody to rub it
in their face, and maybe the people that got along
with you were like, hey, my life's great, you know,
let's go and hang this out. I think that there's
some people with real hang ups that are just like
(16:11):
just you know, I just you know, it was not
a great time in my life. So these are people
that I associate with a bad time in my life
and don't necessarily want to go.
Speaker 1 (16:19):
So I think it exports me for.
Speaker 6 (16:20):
You guys to say, hey, let's go back and have
a good time, and you're a weenie if you don't go.
When there are some points in people's lives when they're
probably like, you know what, it's probably the worst time
of my life, or you know, these people like so,
I think that those things end up, you know, are
reasons why.
Speaker 2 (16:37):
I know I was harsh and I was joking when
I said it, but I did say, you do harbor
some sort of resentment, and that's probably why.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
And that does make well, not mean you're saying in general,
Yeah no, no, not in generally.
Speaker 3 (16:50):
Yeah uh, but you know it's interesting about what you're
saying that sort of ties into a sports story. Remember,
we were all shocked, like, why does David Freeze like
reject his time with the with the Cardinals.
Speaker 1 (17:00):
We all look at it as.
Speaker 2 (17:01):
Like he turned down the Hall of Fame, the Cardinals
Hall of Fame because in retirement.
Speaker 3 (17:07):
It reminds him of a time when he had some
major drug issues, right, and and that's why he doesn't
want to be part of that. And I was like, oh,
you know what, You're right, people have different memories of things. Yeah,
back up of dancing.
Speaker 7 (17:19):
Remember when Richie Incognito bullied one of his teammates.
Speaker 6 (17:23):
Yeah, yeah, there's how about TV shows We were talking
about brat pack or brought pack if you will, with earlier,
Like some people don't want to be associated with shows
even though not just being type cast, but maybe that
time in their life that show was not great and
it's not a point where they want to go back to.
And so that's why, you know, I don't think that
(17:43):
Patrick Mahomes is in that case, No, not at all.
But but yeah, I think.
Speaker 2 (17:48):
That that's difficult, and it could be a band reunion
that guy doesn't come back because he felt disrespected or something. Right,
there's always that one dude.
Speaker 3 (17:58):
Well, you know, if you watched Fuller House with your
kids or wife, you know the Olsen Twins. I saw
an interview with Stamos where he was saying, like, you know, listen,
they're millionaires or their fashion stuff.
Speaker 1 (18:08):
And they live their weird world.
Speaker 3 (18:11):
The Olsen Twins were just like, yeah, we don't want
to be on a Netflix show that we were kid actors, Like, yeah,
no thanks. I mean, some people just aren't interested. But
let me give you the quick twenty second story where
don't do what I did my tenure reunion when I
was like still my twenties and I probably was a jerk.
I was probably like I probably thought it was a
hot shot, like a guy, I have a cool job.
(18:34):
I did this move. Hey, so great to see everyone
drinks on me. The next day, I was like, what
did I do? I looked at my credit card statement,
I'm like, oh, I had bought my whole class, like
multiple rounds of drinks.
Speaker 1 (18:48):
And what's even dumber about the story is the drinks
were probably free and you paid for me.
Speaker 3 (18:52):
No, it was like an after party. It was like
we like a bunch of people went to a party
and after party, I'm like, hey, put it on my dab.
Speaker 2 (19:01):
Hey look, don't I say if you don't have these
hang ups, you know, you gotta go? Yeah, just because
and you'll be thankful and grateful that you did. And
that's how I felt about it. And I'm not one
of those gung ho gotta go kind of guys. I'm
not this smoozy rich Davis blabermouth socialite like he is.
Speaker 1 (19:18):
So I still had a good time and it's nice
to see that.
Speaker 2 (19:21):
Patrick Mahomes is humble enough to say, you know, he'd
love to go, and that's the story, but he's skipping
as of now his ten year reunion.
Speaker 3 (19:28):
Well, for every Mahomes, there's a Trip McNeely, a lah
can hardly wait.
Speaker 1 (19:33):
Trip McNeely, the peaked in high school guy.
Speaker 3 (19:36):
Yeah all right, well, hey, coming up next, you want

Speaker 2 (20:02):

It to be honest, So buyer Coveno on the board

Speaker 3 (30:49):
Rich Panthers, kidding, kidding, kidding, kidding, Well, I'm torn between two.
I'm gonna a three Vikings.
Speaker 7 (31:03):
No, no Buyers, the last way standing and he's the winner.
Speaker 11 (31:09):
The Panthers were on the list.
Speaker 7 (31:26):
Rich literally took his headphones off and started walking out
of the room.
Speaker 1 (31:29):
Hold on, I'm gonna pull a ravishing recruit. Cut the music.
Speaker 3 (31:40):
How are their memes of one person sitting in the
Carolina stands and they're being blacked out and no one
who Why.
Speaker 5 (31:48):
Their average attendance is seventy one and thirty five?
Speaker 1 (31:52):
Oh wow, I was gonna say Lions, by the we

Lions are not Denver, for is number five Denver. Both
the Rams and the Chargers are on the list.
Speaker 5 (32:04):
Man Diana, Atlanta.
Speaker 1 (32:08):
Because I thought Santa Clara was a little smaller a stadium.
Speaker 5 (32:11):
Texans Bears are pretty small too, the Ravens, Saints and
bottom of the list Falcons.
Speaker 7 (32:17):
Hey, it's a good game, Memphis playing on your fifteen seventeen.
That's seventeenth. God, I deserve the arrogance of my joke.
I deserve that. I know why you thought that was hilarious.
Speaker 5 (32:35):
You were thinking of that rainy game.
Speaker 7 (32:37):
It was between the Panthers and who was the other team,
and it was like nobody was there.
Speaker 1 (32:41):
Remember we we talked about it last year. Do you
remember they were giving away tickets, like great seats for
ten dollars. Oh? Man, I that was so funny.
Speaker 5 (32:48):
It was Titan's Panthers.
Speaker 3 (32:49):
I want to say, well, hey, congrats Dan Bayer.
Speaker 1 (32:52):
What you know what it's like?
Speaker 3 (32:53):
You know what, a guy makes a great play in
the field and then he's the first to at bat
the next inning.
Speaker 1 (32:57):
Damn.
Speaker 6 (32:57):
Byron Now with an updates Game five Celtics and MAVs
tonight in Boston. Chris Topsforzinga is still with that question
mark next to him. We'll see if he plays eight
thirty Eastern time. Celtics up three one in the series.
How about some baseball news. Phillis reinstated Trey Turner from
the IL while the Dodgers placed Mookie Betts on the
injured list. College World Series Florida dropped n C State
(33:19):
five to four, so the wolf Pack now eliminated from
the action. In Omaha Euro twenty twenty four, the last
game of the day saw France beat Austria one nil,
but Killian and Bape appeared to break his nose late
in that match after colliding with an opponent from Austria.
We'll see his we don't know his status going forward.
Bengals wide receiver T Higgins officially signed his franchise tag
(33:40):
for the twenty twenty four season. That's where twenty one
point eight million dollars now has until July fifteenth to
work out a long term deal with the team. Former
LSU had football coach Les Miles, who's suing the school
claiming that vacated wins are keeping him out of the
Hall of Fame. And finally, Rory McElroy officially withdrew from
this week's Travelers Championship. In a statement, macroy said he
(34:00):
was going to take a few weeks away before teeing
it up at the Scottish Open in July. TMZ spotted
McElroy today with his daughter and wife at a marine
life center in Florida. Last week, McElroy called off the
divorce with his wife as the sides have reconciled. But
you will not see Rory McElroy tea it up this
week after heartbreak yesterday at Pinehurst Number two, guys, back to.
Speaker 1 (34:21):
You, Oh, thank you, Danny, congrats on the wing, my friend.
Speaker 5 (34:24):
Thanks guys, that's fun. I like the laughing.
Speaker 1 (34:29):
Oh that was great, so funny.
Speaker 2 (34:31):
We're lying from the tyreck dot Com studio and thanks
again for playing along.
Speaker 1 (34:35):
Thank you Colin and Memphis as well. And we'll have
your chance to win some more prizes tomorrow on the show.
We'll play some.
Speaker 2 (34:42):
Shack Diesel Whack Diesel trivia or Tyson trivia. We always
give way stuff here on the Cavino and Rich Show,
but we got to do some well, we never got
to it last week.
Speaker 5 (34:52):
Rich. Nick.
Speaker 3 (34:54):
Yeah, this is a story about Nick Castellanos and it
has to do with veterans getting the call. We'll explain
coming up possible, we'll make our picks for tonight. What
do you think is going down the Celtics cover in
Game five? Do the MAVs keep this bad boy going
all next right here. Covino on Rich Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (35:46):
Bayer, Sam and Spine.
Speaker 2 (35:49):
Now, something we didn't get to last week, and we'll
wrap up the show with this as we get ready
for Game five tonight.
Speaker 1 (35:56):
What's gonna happen to me?
Speaker 3 (35:57):
What's more likely to happen Celtics wrap up the NBA
Finals or two of their fans knocking each other out
in the stance.
Speaker 1 (36:06):
I saw the viral video.
Speaker 5 (36:07):
Its brutal. It was from the Watch party.
Speaker 3 (36:09):
I know that was the watchbardy when they were in
Dallas play that was horrible. Yeah, I saw that Boston
stuff man they fight each other.
Speaker 2 (36:15):
MAVs tonight, dude, I really am. And I don't like
what Tatum said about if they lose, no.
Speaker 1 (36:20):
If they lose nothing.
Speaker 2 (36:22):
If they lose nothing, that's not the attitude you want.
If they lose, it's not the end of the world.
You know, you're letting them back in the series, you know,
and they're there because they're good.
Speaker 3 (36:34):
Now now I'm not saying I'm not saying they didn't play.
Speaker 1 (36:38):
I don't want you to get it twisted.
Speaker 3 (36:39):
I'm not saying they didn't play Game four, but they
lost by forty. There is like a little sense of
they went light. Now they're back in Boston, it's nice
to win in front of the home crowd. I'm not
saying teams do that. I'm just saying, maybe subconsciously mentally,
they were just not in it even at all in
Game four. Right, Yeah, now it's Game five in Boston.
(37:00):
Then you could win your eighteenth league leading championship.
Speaker 1 (37:04):
In front of the hometown.
Speaker 3 (37:07):
I think if you let the MAVs back in Hey,
it's crazy to say, but you're putting yourself in a
dangerous situation.
Speaker 7 (37:14):
Porzingis is available tonight, but Boston saying they're not going
to use him much. Maybe in certain situations, will he
limp out onto the floor Allah Willis Reid on the
East coast there in New.
Speaker 1 (37:26):
York, And yeah, in one of the Nicks only highlights.
Speaker 5 (37:29):
The crowd will go banana.
Speaker 7 (37:31):
Not so much, but yeah, you know, you got to
think a lot of us are going to watch this
sharing on the MAVs, but our cash would probably be
with the Celtics.
Speaker 1 (37:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (37:39):
Do you like the six and a half though? Or
do you think it's close? So you think it's like, yeah,
double digits. You know, if I had to, if you said,
Danny Rich, you gotta bet one hundred bucks on the game,
I'd probably say Celtics.
Speaker 7 (37:50):
It feels like it's either going to be really close
or a blowout. The Celtics will just blow him out. Yeah,
I'm excited to watch tonight, you know what I am?
Speaker 1 (37:57):
You know what, I can't lie. You're right.
Speaker 3 (37:58):
I didn't think I would care, but now knowing that
it could force the six back in Dallas or you
get to watch the Celtics win the championship. So little
NBA action tonight, But give me out. I don't want
to not do it again. But there was a clip
I saw on TikTok and Instagram. The audio is not
great and plus Castiano curses.
Speaker 1 (38:19):
Yeah. Well, it poses a question.
Speaker 2 (38:21):
Nick Castianos not happy with the umpire after getting a
pitch clock violation. The Phillies were playing the Red Sox
and Castianos goes, out of respect for somebody who's been
in the league over ten years, you gotta f and
speak up, brother, And he's there fighting with the umpire,
and it poses the question did.
Speaker 1 (38:42):
He say did he say brother? Because he's been having
some hul Kogan beer.
Speaker 2 (38:44):
I'm just reading the quote, brother. The All American beer
does that too. That's one of the side effects, brother.
It poses the question about veterans getting courtesy calls. Really,
it's like, I don't play by those rules, rich and
I know some referees and umpires do, and players do
(39:05):
expect that we have audio proof in just a second.
But you realize that an umpire has his reputation on
the line, and if he makes these exceptions for veterans,
it just takes away from his own credibility of being
a fair and balanced referee.
Speaker 3 (39:20):
But I think your, uh, your nevity on this on
this subject is crazy because across all sports. Danny g
will be the first to say, guys like Tom Brady
and Peyton Manning and you know, legendary quarterback.
Speaker 2 (39:34):
Not about nevity, it's about some umpires can't be bought.
Some umpires do call it how they see it.
Speaker 1 (39:40):
I don't think it's the ones being bought.
Speaker 3 (39:42):
I'm saying, you see guys like I said, the Breeze,
the Brady's, the Manning meaning.
Speaker 1 (39:48):
Even glamored by the name on the back of the journey.
So like those guys get the late hit call. And
you know who doesn't like C. J.
Speaker 3 (39:54):
Stroud or some young gun Jordan love you see in
Major League Baseball. You know, maybe Maddi got that outside
corner a little bit more than than someone else in
his primer pedro.
Speaker 1 (40:05):
And not debating that it happens. I don't think it's right.
Speaker 3 (40:09):
That there's a classic clip and listen, you could someone
could debate and say, oh, that's silly, it's been debunked.
But we've all seen it where Michael Jordan's on the Wizards.
This is this is post Jordan legacy. This is when
he came back just to you know, give us all
a little Oh.
Speaker 5 (40:25):
I thought you were going to call us push off
on the jazz.
Speaker 1 (40:29):
You know what, a lot of people would have got
called for a push off. Not MJ.
Speaker 3 (40:33):
But Michael Jordan was a wizard. And the famous clip
that you see is the ref pretty much giving into MJ.
Take listen, ever controlled it?
Speaker 6 (40:42):
Michael never in touch with both hands, that's the thing
you think?
Speaker 1 (40:46):
So Michael fifty five hands clee.
Speaker 8 (40:48):
The com Mike.
Speaker 1 (40:50):
I see your hands on it, Michael, But I believe you.
But I believe you. I saw one. Yeah, calls a
foul because he believes Michael Jordan.
Speaker 3 (40:59):
I know you could say, oh, he probably conferred with
another ref, But dude, that's even the greats, even the
ones that aren't with us anymore, Kobe, Michael Jordan, these
guys all got calls.
Speaker 1 (41:12):
Lebron does get it, even though he likes to fly good.
That's the question. No one's debating that.
Speaker 2 (41:17):
The question is do you think they should be that way?
Do you think that should be the way it is?
Because Costianos was sort of insinuating it should.
Speaker 1 (41:24):
Michael Jordan thinks it should.
Speaker 2 (41:26):
I don't think players should be getting calls just because
they're they're veterans.
Speaker 3 (41:30):
Just every team has a veteran and I think there's
a unspoken, slight level of respect and I'm out against it.
Speaker 1 (41:39):
You could say, I don't see how how could you
not be against it?
Speaker 3 (41:43):
Derek Jeter in the final year or so, you know
what again, we can talk about this forever. Hold your thought,
damn it. We'll see you guys tomorrow. Until then I
rive it there at you, baby, see you in the
Promised Land.
Speaker 1 (41:53):
I enjoy the games.
