Danny J put up a hell of a best of
every day plus each hour the podcast. So where we
get your pods? Just search coven on Rich, follow, rate
and review and we will appreciate it. We got I
was Sam, we got Dan Bayer, we got Danny G.
The whole cruse here spotty on the videos. Now, I
did want to say before the show, Danny, I was
asking you about your dodger who's been lighting it up
(01:46):
this year, the Oscar Hernandez Ti Oscar.
Speaker 1 (01:50):
Yeah, Ti Oscar is my te o.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
And you were you were saying how he sort of
filled the void left behind by j D Martinez. Yes, sir,
And I was just telling you, you know, JD's been
lighting up for the Mets. He's part of why they've
strung together some wins. And I just looked at the
box score hit a bomb today. Another RBI single. So
that guy's found of youth like because he's not young,
right JD. Martinez late thirties.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
Yeah, And I guess what you were talking about was
what batter on your team in our pre show meeting,
and you're like, which batter kind of surprised the fans
last season?
Speaker 1 (02:23):
JD. Martinez.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
We all know he's a great player, but in the
roster last season, people are like, Okay, we got Martinez
to see what he can do, and he did great
for the Dodgers. In fact, I was sad to see
him go to your Mets.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
You know, anytime a guy just the erupts like this,
I assume immediately the juice. The guy's on the juice. Seriously,
where is he the needles? I would check them anyway.
Congrats to his success. Who was your Yankee surprise this year?
Yankee surprise this year? That's a good one. The Yankee
(02:55):
surprise this year, I would say, is Anthony Volpi setting
the table really becoming that hit that everybody hoped he'd be,
because while he struggled that bad last year, he had
a decent rookie year, but it was more based on
he want to go with a good defensive. Yeah, love.
But now he's putting it all together and it's fun
to see. Also, Jean Carlos Stanton, You know, but we
sort of expected him to be a little better now
(03:16):
that he leaned out. If he stays healthy, he'll be good.
But again, baseball, some hockey this weekend tonight. In fact,
also what else you need to watch in the world
of sports and entertainment? We do it every Friday weekend
hobnobbing plus your chance to win some prizes Chipotle worker
or w NBA player. We have lots to get to
(03:36):
on this Friday show. But well, hope you had a
great Thursday night. Let's have a great day, Let's have
a great weekend. Let's go tonight.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
NHL Stanley Cup a up in Canada, So get your cheesies,
get your poutine.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
Hardest hitting question of the day before we really get
into the meat. Who best best thing Canada's ever given us?
Jim Carrey, No, I was gonna say Edmonton Euler girl
or Hawk to girl, Hawk to a girl? Is she
just the biggest thing going? And we haven't seen anything
like this in a long time? What I was glad
(04:07):
to say?
Speaker 2 (04:08):
We really can't talk about it much on this show,
I mean, but it's also but to a girl, impossible
to ignore the simple fact that I believe she's in
on it unless it's like a lookalike. She may be
in on merch now, like she's leaning in like all right,
if I'm gonna be a little embarrassing and humiliated, then, uh,
I think she's on like hats and shirts. I don't
(04:28):
know about that. Last I heard, she was hard to find.
I don't know if she's leaning into it. There's a
lot of girls with straight blonde hair that look like that,
so I'm not sure if that's really her. Can't confirm
or deny that at the moment. But she's sweeping the
nation for sure. Well, if it's that, you know that.
You ever see that yearly chart where each month there's
a meme or a video that owns the month, Yeah, June, we.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
Hand it over to you. Hawk to a girl, I
would say May was eiler girl, right, who flashed everybody
now and now talk to a girl is sweeping the nation,
like we said, help and uh, that's just some viral nonsense,
but hard to avoid. Like I said, yeah to a sister, right, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
Yeah, of course the dolphins just signed her Hawktua for
a big deal. So I want to bring up a
dumb meme I saw on social media. But I do
want to remind people of one thing. While you're watching
your sports this weekend, while you're going to the pool,
the lake, the beach, whatever the heck you're doing with
the friends are fam.
Speaker 1 (05:28):
I think right after the show today, because it's our
first weekend of the summer, right right after the show,
or drinking on the pool. No, no, no, I go
right to the gym across the street, break a sweat,
maybe hit the sauna, pretend like I did some sauna.
Speaker 2 (05:41):
Just step outside or just step outside.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
No, but I'll be at the gym anyway. Then Rich,
you're right, grab myself for sirveysa and then hit the pool.
I might do that tonight. Do the pool, Shumer, No,
I can't wait.
Speaker 2 (05:59):
Let me give it on a piece of advice and
then we'll get into some NBA, some baseball.
Speaker 1 (06:04):
Please don't do that. Hey, it's a comed on Rich musical.
What the hell, Benjo is that you can't hit that
your vault the high note, dude.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
So I want everyone to locate your bluetooth speaker and
charge it because you know what's gonna happen tomorrow. A
lot of people for the first time this season, are
gonna say, dude, I'm gonna go outside by the fire pit,
I'm gonna go to the pool. I'm gonna and you
grab your Bluetooth speaker and it's dead. Charge it today
when you get home from work. Just charge it because
(06:33):
you're gonna hate yourself when you're all packed up, like
I will go, Oh, gotta have you ready, gotta be prepared,
So charge that Bluetooth speaker.
Speaker 1 (06:41):
But here's the meme I saw that bothered me.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
It had to do with this heat wave that sweeping
the nation East coast, Midwest I think is getting it
the worst. Got my car today. I'm sure Danny felt
the same way because he's in the deeper part of
the valley like I am. My car said one oh three.
I'm like, well, it's really not one o three, but
my car thought it was one hundred and three.
Speaker 3 (07:04):
It took twenty minutes of my AC just to cool
down the inside of my car.
Speaker 1 (07:08):
That's because you're so hot, dany g. This is why
I thought.
Speaker 2 (07:11):
Now there was a meme that someone did a screen
grab from the News and I think this is horse manure.
I think this is nonsense. I can't stand by this
at all.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
I'm so conflicted with the news because you want to
be in the know. You want to stay up on things.
You want to know what's going on in the world
of politics and weather and news. And you know, did
the ducklings make it across the street? How's that that
squirrel on his.
Speaker 2 (07:38):
I don't watch the news for the reason of there's
nothing you won't see on but the social media just
makes you so angry.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
And politics aside, because you should see how angry my
parents are just from watching the news. Politics aside, when
you see something foolish like this, I'm angry just thinking
about it. The news makes me mad. Avoid it the
sports to balance your life.
Speaker 2 (08:01):
They had tips on conserving energy during this heat wave,
and it said thermostat recommendations. I don't know about you,
but I'm not one of those people that think lizard
people live among us, right, but this stat might make
you think that, Okay, this is the numbers they're suggesting
(08:22):
during the heat wave.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
Okay, but please keep in mind that Rich is a
little extreme, like he's one of those guys that you know,
has his air conditioner blowing and blasting all the time.
Not everybody lives like that. There's a middle ground. I
think you're extreme on the right side, as opposed to
this list is on the left.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
Okay, well, here's what they're saying. They're saying, when you're
at home, set it at seventy eight.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
Yo.
Speaker 2 (08:51):
When I'm at home, it's at sixty eight. When you're
sleeping eighty two, So I think I may get colder.
I'm sleep in sixty seven, maybe seventy eight. Again, what
are you a camel? Are you a lizard?
Speaker 1 (09:05):
Person?
Speaker 2 (09:06):
And get this standbyer? When you're away, have you and
a wifey and the kid are stepping out? Go get
some ice cream? Oh, leave your house at eighty five.
Speaker 4 (09:15):
That's just absurd. Eighty that's crazy. By the way, that
was a drop of me. That wasn't me saying that,
which I know I could be completely confusing.
Speaker 1 (09:25):
I like that.
Speaker 4 (09:26):
I will turn it up to I don't want my
place as a freezer. And even last night I was
I wanted to go outside and kind of cool off,
take a little dip in the pool, and it was
almost too cold inside for me to then go outside
and be refreshed, like it wouldn't have been refreshing. I
kind of wanted to have a little little sweat going
(09:47):
inside the house before I.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
Went in gardening.
Speaker 2 (09:50):
Why that's why I like, you know, trim my rose
bushes and walk around for five minutes, You'll be sweating
your asshole. That's true, that's fair enough. But I don't
know why. This just bothered me so because it's absurd.
Who has anything set of eighty five? It's the heat
of the summer. When I go to a hotel, the
first thing I do is turn the AC down to
sixty five.
Speaker 1 (10:08):
I see that's sixty five, Yeah, sixty five.
Speaker 2 (10:10):
And there's a trick. You know, there's a trick. That's
what I want to strangle you. You're there's a.
Speaker 1 (10:15):
Middle ground where normal people live, and you're not one
of them. So we're strung out on caffeine, you're blessing
your air conditioned. You're just like on the next level
of annoying. So there's a seventy seventy to rate seventy, Right,
there's a seventy I think that's where I live at.
And when you come over my house, Rachel complaining that
it's hot and I'm like, dude, I got it at seventy,
you know, but he's so used to it even cooler.
(10:37):
But he's also running around chasing the little rug rats
that don't make you break a sweat. I understand, but
for the news to report this especially, I feel it's careless.
I think people are to die at Yeah, old people know.
Speaker 4 (10:51):
Old people also have their house at eighty eight degrees,
you know, they need it that hot, Which makes me
wonder if you guys ever gone on vacation, didn't leave
the air on and came back and like, what, like,
what was the hottest your house could have ever have been?
Speaker 2 (11:06):
I hate that you're describing my nightmare going on vacation,
the hotel, the airbnb, your house and you come back
and you're like, oh no, it's like eighty seven.
Speaker 1 (11:17):
Well that's why, yeah, and I have one ninety two
once it's hey, it's twenty twenty four. You could have
a digital thermostat. You don't have to. No, I haven't.
Now I've been nest that I was gonna say, boil your goldfish.
You could avoid that nowadays, absolutely, But guys don't don't
fo We're here to say, don't listen what the news
is telling you use your common sense and find a
(11:37):
middle grade.
Speaker 2 (11:38):
I think I'm I'm going to adjust because I know
I'm a little extreme on wanting it to be freezing right.
But I think when you're living in your house in
the summer, seventy to seventy two is fair. If you
go out and you're not home seventy five tops sleeping
at night, I feel like sixty eight to seventy get
that nice little chili feeling. Don't you want you want
(11:59):
it blanket because.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
It's a little chili.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
Yeah, no, absolutely, But anyway, Hey, I enjoy your heat
wave this summer. But I just thought the news like
eighty five on drugs.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
News, and remember to hydrate. It's generational. I have a theory.
In fact, I have proof that my theory is correct.
Growing up, right, our generation, we grew up. We played
whiffle ball. We were rough palsing outside, kill the man
with the ball. We were drinking by the hose. That's
our bragging, right, we drank out of the hose, right,
(12:30):
shout out to the hose on a flashback frying, I
was shout out the host. Yeah, we survived courtesy of
the hose because our parents didn't let us back in
or out. That was our gar yea.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
I have a question, why was it because she had dusty,
dirty s feet because my mom, Yeah, your mask stains
and dirt in our shoes.
Speaker 5 (12:46):
Yea.
Speaker 1 (12:47):
I can imagine your mom had that same phrase. I
thought that was an East Coast thing.
Speaker 5 (12:50):
In or out.
Speaker 1 (12:51):
Oh no, that's universal. In or out.
Speaker 3 (12:53):
Our parents and grandparents thought you were letting the cold
ac air out of the house with the door open there.
Speaker 1 (12:59):
And maybe there's some truth to that, right, So yeah,
it's like leaving the refrigerator. Old people hate that stuff.
Speaker 2 (13:05):
My mother in law, when I tell you this, she's
at my house when you know, not now, but when
she visits, she'll be at my house.
Speaker 1 (13:13):
If I open the fridge to.
Speaker 2 (13:15):
Get a little milk to put my coffee, and I
don't close the fridge while I'm doing that, she yells
at me in my own house. Yeah, they tell you
it's yo. Relax there, Ledwp, I'm more good. But again,
my point was to hydrate. We drink water. We always
drank water, and now we drink more water than ever right,
bottled water water in our fridge, water water water. But
(13:38):
our parents' generation for whatever reason, they didn't drink water
or weren't taught to drink water the way we were
taught to drink water. My dad, who you know, has
some health issues. The doctor says, listen, you got to hydrate.
Speaker 1 (13:50):
Dude.
Speaker 2 (13:51):
He refused, I don't drink water, my dad.
Speaker 1 (13:53):
I mean, I know, I don't drink water. I don't
like how it take. Hey drink water, especially old people
living in their eighty five degree house, and you got
about hydration.
Speaker 2 (14:04):
You had a bunch of teenagers and twenty year olds
over drinking water out of their Stanley cup.
Speaker 1 (14:07):
Old people didn't grow up with it the way we did.
So they just don't know to do it. It's not
in their instinct and they refuse sometimes because they're stubborn
and old and dehydrated, and that's why they're cuckoo's nest.
But speaking of hydrating, this hot heat wave of a
summer weekend, I don't know if you saw this viral clip.
I'm throwing it out there. It's the importance of staying hydrated.
(14:28):
Boxer Tremaine Williams was fighting Ryan Allen. Did you see
this clip went viral today? This dude, Tremaine Williams he's
in the middle of a brawl, a boxing match, right,
all of a sudden, he steps back and he's throwing punches,
and then he completely collapses because he has a seizure.
You know why, wasn't hydrated so he's totally fine, But dude,
(14:48):
talk about scary moment.
Speaker 2 (14:50):
What is the reason most concerts are delayed or canceled?
The artist? What do they always say? Dehydration because they're
on the move. They're on the ghost city to city,
party and drink and drug and doing everything. No one
drinks enough water like our parents.
Speaker 1 (15:04):
I'd say keep the place at sixty nine. That's a
good cover. Seventy a mind seventy seventy two, depending on again,
how much you're moving around. Seventy not what the news
is saying. Eighty eighty five. Out of here, and stay
hydrated during the heat wave and don't end up like
Tremaine Williams the boxer again. You'll see this clip. You
(15:25):
might not have because Hawk too has taking up your
whole algorithm and justin Timberlake. But when you see this
clip and you see this guy faint for no reason,
it's not like he had a delayed reaction to a punch.
He was dehydrated and he passed out mid fight.
Speaker 2 (15:38):
I'm gonna post on our Instagram story there's a hilarious
huck to a girl Donald Trump remix that we can't
play on Fox Sports Radio but worth watching. So at
Covin on Rich now listen. Plenty of sports to get
to today. There's an NHL Stanley Cup Finals game tonight.
There's some good baseball. I'll tie this into sports.
Speaker 1 (15:57):
Theres you imagine back in the day wearing those wool
baseball uniforms. They were rocking those Babe Ruth Negro League
era baseball uniforms in this kind of heat. What a nightmare?
What a night I bet if you buy these from
Ken Golden, if you buy these collectible jerseys, they probably
stink to the high heavens because I can't imagine being
(16:18):
out in the sunlight playing in those.
Speaker 2 (16:19):
Uniform game warn Babe Ruth jersey, I was like hot dogs.
Speaker 1 (16:23):
So I was like hot dogs and uh relish nan sweat,
so perfume relation for all the ladies that love the babe,
so hey, stay hydrated, have a good weekend, and keep
it at seventy while you're sitting around chilling grilling, cooking.
Just remember that it can't.
Speaker 2 (16:45):
I always feel like you can never be too chilly
because you could always throwing more clothes. The other is
like it's hot. So I ask you this Randall question
to wrap this up. Sure, you'd rather be a Dodger
Stadium in July, Danny j one hundred and six with
a hat on, suntannlotion on your neck, sun beating down?
Or do you rather be at Lambo Field in January
(17:09):
during a blizzard?
Speaker 1 (17:10):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (17:11):
What's what's what's a what's a grosser sports scenario? Soldier
Field January? Or or or an Angel or an Angels
game down an Anaheim on like a July twentieth type
of day.
Speaker 1 (17:24):
It's a little worse.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
I think when you're in freezing temperatures and you can't
feel your digits.
Speaker 2 (17:29):
Do you remember do you remember how many people had
frostbite amputees, Well, not not whole limbs, but there were
people that lost fingers in toes.
Speaker 1 (17:37):
Remember the Chiefs game last.
Speaker 2 (17:38):
Year, Yes, where it was like with the wind Show minus.
Speaker 1 (17:42):
Whatever people lost fingers.
Speaker 2 (17:44):
But then again, there have been people that have passed
out from heat, exhaustion and everything.
Speaker 1 (17:48):
So what's worse?
Speaker 2 (17:50):
That midsummer baseball game in Florida or southern California, or
that lambeau Field Soldier Field, you know, January game. Let
us know beat in Buffalo at Covino and Rich at

Speaker 1 (20:43):
And the running Man all the dance boofs. This is
a CD I got courtesy of Columbia House for a penny,
No doubt, I remember twelve for a penny. This was

Big Game this weekend, giving away some prizes here on
the show, plus Weekend hobnobbing. What you need to watch
in the world of sports and entertainment.
Speaker 2 (21:24):
Now, I'm trying to compile a little list here because
I was thinking about this last second. So as of
right now, you're seeing so much about Caleb Williams. In fact, Danny,
you hit us up with an NFL report this morning
that said Caleb Williams could be worth over one billion
dollars by the time he turns thirty.
Speaker 1 (21:49):
He launched his own investment firm, eighty eight Minas, has
reached brand partnerships with Wendy's Beats by Dre Doctor Pepper, which,
by the way, I saw stat recently. Doctor Pepper's like
number two in the world after Coke. Would have never
thought that Doctor Pepper, United Airlines and Nutrigena. He's got
good skin. Yeah, so he's making money moves, he's making
(22:11):
good investments. Yeah. We talked about Duff mccagan just in
passing Guns n' Roses. Duff mccagan how he had some
money as a rock star back in the day, and
he invested in some local Seattle brands, those being Starbucks, Apple,
and Amazon. And he's doing all right, sitting pretty as
a result. Make your money work for you, Caleb Williams
(22:34):
doing the right thing. We see so many people. Look,
it's always a risk, but we see so many risk Yeah,
life's a risk card now.
Speaker 2 (22:41):
But I wanted to just ask what is a disappointment
and what is the expectation of Caleb Williams.
Speaker 1 (22:50):
Now.
Speaker 2 (22:50):
The only reason I asked that is that when you
look at the last ten years, I've been sort of
doing a little compiling over the last ten years in
the NFL Okay every year if you want to look
at who the number one overall pick was and the
number one quarterback, which means these are the guys that
teams expected they will change our franchise. And we always
(23:13):
talk about how often those things don't work out, more
often to not work out than they do. Can I
go over a couple of the years just to play
stat boy here?
Speaker 1 (23:28):
Sure?
Speaker 2 (23:28):
I was, Sam Danny dan Byer Cavino. Feel free to
chime in on your thoughts now again, the way the
Chicago Bears have put their heart and soul into Caleb Williams.
Speaker 1 (23:37):
He's the guy number one overall.
Speaker 2 (23:39):
Like this is you know, we're talking about Meme saying
he's gonna be worth a billion dollars and he hasn't
taken a snap in the NFL yet. Let's go back
to twenty fifteen. We'll do the last ten years. Number
one pick quarterback Jameis Winston didn't really change the stars.
Speaker 1 (24:00):
Turnovers. Marcus Mariota was also in that draft, so not again,
also too many turnovers.
Speaker 2 (24:06):
Uh, twenty sixteen, you could say, all right, Jared Goff
got the Rams to a Super Bowl and now he's
you know, signed the big deal.
Speaker 1 (24:12):
He has worked out, he's in Detroit now. But and
they love him.
Speaker 2 (24:16):
You know, Carson Wentz did not work out after him.
That's sort of He's been a journeyman in the last
handfull of years. So again, are these drafts resulting in
teams getting their guy?
Speaker 1 (24:27):
So far? He could say Goff, yes.
Speaker 2 (24:30):
Right, okay, right, well, you know, let's go to twenty
seventeen Mitchell Trubisky, Come on. Nope, But in that same draft,
Mahomes and Deshaun Watson, two guys were found permanently for
their team.
Speaker 1 (24:46):
Right the next year. Baker. I mean he is an
NFL player. Yeah, he's had a revival. Yeah, he's had
a revival. He's proven that he could play in the league.
I don't think he's going any where.
Speaker 2 (25:01):
After Baker, though, two teams did find their guy Josh
Allen in Buffalo, Lamar Jackson in Baltimore. I'll speed it up.
Let's go to twenty nineteen Kyler Murray. I don't think
the question still out, but I'm gonna say Noboddy, and
also in that draft, Daniel Jones, which I'm also going
to give up.
Speaker 1 (25:21):
Nope, nobody.
Speaker 2 (25:23):
Twenty twenty is where it starts to be like, all right,
there's some teams that as of now, you're like, all right,
Burrow number one pick, Okay, that worked out, work work working, Yeah,
Tua for Miami. I think this is a we'll figure
it out soon enough. If it's the guy, and Justin
Herbert is the guy for the Ramp the Chargers.
Speaker 1 (25:43):
No doubt.
Speaker 2 (25:45):
Then after that we just saw Trevor Lawrence signed that
big deal in twenty twenty one for the Jacks. Zach
Wilson Nope, Trey Trey Lance nope, Mac Jones nope. Three
teams just a couple years ago they thought they had
their guy. So my point is to call this guy
a billionaire and say he's headed in that direction without
(26:08):
ever taking a snap.
Speaker 1 (26:10):
Is it sort of a light it up? He's a
billionaire or bust?
Speaker 2 (26:15):
Do you see a middle ground for Caleb Williams based
on what I'm when I read the other quarterbacks, based
on how teams get a guy?
Speaker 1 (26:21):
Well, the billionaire article had to do with his investments.
Speaker 2 (26:24):
Those investments mean nothing if he's not a star in
the field, like they'll dwindle quick. He's got that rookie deal.
It's not he's not gonna be a billionaire.
Speaker 1 (26:34):
He could still get a couple hundred million if he fizzled.
Speaker 2 (26:37):
He also made millions of dollars at usc for coming
back for his his you know, the next year after
he won the Heisman, So he's got money in the bank.
Speaker 1 (26:44):
Alrea anymore. If there's a middle ground for this guy
based on his expectations on the field, not necessarily his investments,
Like you know, when expectations are so high, is it
he has to make the playoffs, a super Bowl or
he's a bus within a certain amount of time. I
don't know Caleb Williams. I mean, is he going to translate?
(27:05):
We don't know yet. What's up, Dan Bayern.
Speaker 4 (27:07):
I think there's a good news bad news scenario. I
think it's going to be impossible to answer your question
to the hype. It's just going to be impossible. The
good news is Chicago's just starving for that quarterback, and
they have for fifty years outside of you know, a
couple of Jim McMahon seasons. But the bad news is,
I think you named almost quarterbacks the season that c J.
Speaker 1 (27:28):
Stroud had last year.
Speaker 4 (27:31):
I think Caleb Williams almost needs to match that, not
only with the on field the stats, but the on
field of going to the playoffs, winning a playoff game,
doing that. Like heck, he may have a great season
and Rookie of the Year, but when CJ. Stroud did
what he just did this past year, I think it's
it's such a high bar for Caleb Williams.
Speaker 1 (27:50):
They'll try to meet.
Speaker 2 (27:51):
It's almost like you did something nice for your wife,
but your next door neighbor is like, surprise his wife
with a trip to Whole one yes, and you're like,
you know, oh, we went over for a nice dinner.
Do you hear about the neighbors he's taken her to
Hawaii for her birthday?
Speaker 1 (28:05):
I would say again, these things are mutually exclusive. I
think there's a difference here. You gotta really look at
his play on the field. That's one thing. Is there
a middle ground where he could still survive or is
anything less than playoffs a bust? Well, and then his investments.
You gotta look at his investments because they're saying he
could be a billionaire by the time he's thirty. Do
you believe in Wendy's Do you believe in beats by
(28:27):
dre Do you believe in Doctor Pepper?
Speaker 2 (28:29):
United Airlines? Well New Trigina. He's doing the right things
with his money. I'm just saying, when you're seeing everyone
talking about playoffs and this guy's gonna be a billionaire,
I look at a year ago. Bryce Young had a
rough start. I mean, he could have a big one
this year. We don't know. Richardson got hurt, will Levis
had a couple of moments, but c J. Stroud, my goodness,
(28:50):
he has set the bar and then.
Speaker 1 (28:52):
He showed that it's possible to play at a high
level right out the gate.
Speaker 2 (28:57):
But it seems like consistently, and it's not just the
last ten years we've talked about how the NFL. It
truly is like you can make a column of yes
and no, and it really is fifty to fifty on
whether or not these guys become the guy. Hey, Joe Burrow,
Justin Herbert, Yes, yes, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson. Then you're like, ooh,
uh Trubisky and you know Wentz and.
Speaker 1 (29:20):
Haven't seen Trevor Lawrence against situation matters right, and he's
going to a pretty decent team. Trevor Lawrence isn't lightening
it up. We compared his stats, like we said that
Gardner Minshew, it's not like he's lighting it up as
people are saying. So there isn't that contract on potential.
So my point is, yeah, there is a middle ground
where he could still survive. The only thing that separates
(29:41):
is the expectations I'm on him or believe it or not?
Next level.
Speaker 2 (29:46):
You know what, It's interesting you would say that because
I'm looking now, so Justin Herbert twenty twenty Yeah, he's
another good example. Trevor Lawrence twenty twenty one and everything
lighten it up? And I think would you agree Dan
bayer Or that Herbert and Trevor Lawrence have been given
the same leeway, even it's been years, but it's like
(30:07):
they're they're getting by on the talent possibilities, right.
Speaker 4 (30:12):
I think I think Herbert is that guy. I don't
know if Lawrence is. I'll answer it that way.
Speaker 2 (30:18):
Lawrence and Herbert both we're feel that way too. I
think we're getting to the point though, where it's like,
all right, well, you know, we gave you a couple
of years to take but we hit that.
Speaker 1 (30:27):
But clearly we haven't written off Lawrence. Yeah, so I
don't think they're gonna write off Caleb Williams deff So
I think he's got a year. So yeah, he's got
some time to grow a little bit.
Speaker 2 (30:34):
Like you hear guys like Colin or d Pieced guys
saying all bears in the playoffs, I'm like, playoffs.
Speaker 1 (30:40):
You know. It's funny with with Herbert in this upcoming season.
Speaker 4 (30:42):
I'm really curious that where the narrative will go because
I think there's a really good chance that his numbers
don't match up to what they previously were. But I
think they're gonna be a much better football team. And
it will be interesting to see on if their success
is translated just in maybe his number aren't there if
he continues to receive the amount of hype that people
(31:04):
like me give him.
Speaker 1 (31:06):
Situation matters the question Fox Sports Radio Nation again, is
there any middle ground for a guy with the hype
and the potential the expectations of a Caleb Williams the
one billion dollar man.
Speaker 2 (31:17):
Yeah, the guy that between the endorsements and future contracts,
people are saying could be a billionaire within you know,
the next five plus years. I guess to make the
question clear, you're right, is there absurd? Is there a
mill ground for this guy?
Speaker 1 (31:31):
Yeah? Probably?
Speaker 2 (31:31):
But I do wonder in a year from now, when
that when this next football season's over, are we going
to talk Are we going to be talking about Caleb
Williams the way we're talking about c J. Stroud and
and you know, some of these young quarterbacks like their
team got their guy now it's a matter of time
or is it gonna be a story of a who
(31:52):
I don't.
Speaker 1 (31:52):
Know, it's you know, I guess it's as good as anybody.
So we don't know until he's out there on the field,
until we see it in gameplay. We don't know how
much he's going to put into it, how prepared he's
going to be, how the fit's going to work, We're
not going to know until we see it. I think
it's one of the more intrigued makes it fun, one
of the more intriguing stories of the NFL because a
lot of teams, there are some teams that you feel
(32:13):
like you sort of know what you got because the
team's sort of rolling it. You know they're running it back.
Speaker 3 (32:18):
And for those of you in other parts of the
country that didn't get to watch a lot of USC football,
you are going to be excited to see him play.
He is Mahomes level exciting as far as when a
play breaks down and he's able to roll out and
still hit a guy down the field or use his legs.
Speaker 1 (32:33):
He is magical on the field, for sure. That's what
we expect. Rights We'll say, was.
Speaker 4 (32:39):
That a shot at the PAC twelve network by saying
for the people that did sell or it's a shot
at everybody that was in bed because the USC didn't
kick off till ten thirty Eastern time on Saturday time zones.
Speaker 2 (32:49):
Yes, so hey, again, I'm not trying to be confusing here.
It's just more of a matter of you know, we've
seen rookies coming with hype. It just when you see
memes like this guy could be a millionaire within five
years or so, it's like, well, he hasn't been thrown
a pass in the National Football League yet, And I
do wonder because the hype is so high anything less
than the playoffs, I think. And again, Dan Byer made
(33:10):
a great point because of how CJ. Straud lit it
up last year, you saw like, ooh, a rookie with
a good coach and a good team around them could
make progress quick. The learning curve doesn't have to be there,
so we shall see. It's gonna be really interesting with
Cable Williams this year, Right, de me, what's going on?
Speaker 1 (33:28):
Buddy? Guys?
Speaker 4 (33:28):
There are some football news. Hall of Fame running back
Barry Sanders released his statement through the Lions saying that
he experienced a health scare involving his heart over Father's
Day weekend. Sanders says he's now prioritizing his health and
well being, thinking doctors and nurses that tended to his
medical situation. Kansas Governor Laura Kelly signed legislation today allowing
the state to try to lure the Chiefs and Kansas
(33:49):
City Royals to build new stadiums in their states. Both
teams have leases in their current facilities that reside in
Missouri through twenty thirty one day baseball, Yeah, Rich's Met's
got a big win against the Cubs today. Final score
eleven to one. Euro twenty twenty four Netherlands and France
played to a scoreless draw. France played with Alchillan and Boppe.
Earlier today Austria dropped Poland three to one. U created
(34:11):
over Slovakia by a score of two to one. Poland,
by the way, eliminated from Euro twenty twenty four because
of the France in Netherlands draw. Second round of the
Travelers Championship its raining, so playing the second round it's
been halted, but Tom Kim is done for the day.
He's at thirteen hunder par and has the lead US
Open champion Bryce in Deshamba's currently at four under par
(34:32):
through the first round of the live events in Nashville.
He's three shots back of Abraham Answer as they have
just one hole to play. Connor McGregor revealed he suffered
a broken toe, which is why you can't fight at
UFC three zero three. Next week, Celtic celebrated their titles
Today Guys with their title with a parade and rally
number eighteen and Game six Panthers Oilers eight o'clock Eastern
(34:53):
Time tonight. Panthers up three to two in the series.
IJA Wilson leads all vote getters in WNBA All.
Speaker 1 (34:58):
Star Game voting. Caitlin Clark is second. Back to you. Yeah,
thank you, d B, Thank you, d B.
Speaker 2 (35:04):
Did you see your boy de Shamba walking around Nashville
with it with Troy?
Speaker 4 (35:08):
Not my boy, but yes, I appreciate. Is I'm not
a live guy, but I know what you're saying. Yeah,
he was living it up.
Speaker 1 (35:14):
He was definitely living it up.
Speaker 2 (35:16):
By the way, I don't want to come out of
that first conversation without an opinion.
Speaker 1 (35:20):
I don't want to be like, Okay, goods and what
do you think?
Speaker 2 (35:22):
I I just feel as though when I said, is
there a middle ground? I my instinct is there is
that if they think it's where most of these guys
end up. Unfortunately, That's what I'm saying. Like we're we're
looking at like is Caleb William's gonna blow it? Up
and playoff bound and Chicago's going to be slaying it
and loving it or are they gonna stink? I think
it's somewhere in between. And that's sort of a boring answer,
(35:44):
which is why I'm.
Speaker 1 (35:45):
Because most of those first round draft picks we went
over weren't slaying it. In fact, there was the other
guys that weren't.
Speaker 2 (35:52):
Yeah, so I look at it and say, man, if
they're eight and nine or nine and eight in playoff
borderline like that. That's how I like the boring answer.
Now it is in a way, but again, there is
a middle ground. There's a middle ground. All right, Well, hey,
we're going to play a game called Chipotle Worker or
WNBA Player.
Speaker 1 (36:10):
We're gonna do that, coming up in a little bit.
Speaker 2 (36:12):
Plus uh, some baseball, some Stanley Cup tonight, all coming.
Speaker 1 (36:17):
Up right here on Cavino on Rich. Yeah, a boy,
Covino and Rich on Fox Sports Radio live from the
Tireck dot Com studios. I believe the hype or do
I? I don't know, Caleb Williams all hype. Is there a
(36:39):
middle ground? Your feedback at Covino and Rich at Fox
Sports Radio, and we're taking your phone calls at a
seven to seven ninety nine on Fox. Always getting you
involved in fact, if you want to play Chipotle worker
or WNBA player, given props to both.
Speaker 2 (36:53):
Yeah, listen. If you don't come in last place, you win.
That's how you wear being generous.
Speaker 1 (36:57):
Giving always swiggies for the first weekend of the summer,
something to keep your rack nice and cool. Then if
you want to stainless steel swiggy courtesy of Cavino and
Rich live from the tire rack dot Com studio. Yeah,
be dialing if you want to again. Eight seven, seven,
nine to nine on Fox. Let's go to Jared in
Las Vegas. What's up, Jared Covino.
Speaker 7 (37:15):
Rich, Hey Cavino Rich, just listening to the beginning of
the show, and he was making me laugh because I'm
out here in Las Vegas and they give us the
same kind of requirements for the heat.
Speaker 1 (37:30):
Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (37:32):
By the way, lizard, lizard people, those are people or
English people.
Speaker 1 (37:37):
You know, they don't have a lot of air conditioning
in England and overseas well. You know.
Speaker 2 (37:41):
Shout out to the Carrier Dome up in Syracuse, mister Carrier.
I believe it was the first uh United United States
air conditioning company carrier. Now, based on what you're saying, Jared,
they're saying on the news to keep your house and
an ungodly like eighty something degrees when you're not home,
and then when you are home seventy eight and I
(38:02):
feel like it's off by ten degrees. You can't be
in Vegas sitting in your house eighty five degrees. You'd
lose your mind, Jared, and you'd have.
Speaker 7 (38:09):
Oh, that is absolutely right. Well, you know, full disclosure,
I'm actually an HVACR technician, and that is absolutely ridiculous.
First of all, the amount of stress that is put
on a unit when it has to try to recover,
as we call it, recover from the temperatures being eighty
(38:30):
five and above is just stupid. You're gonna break your equipment,
is what you're gonna do. You're gonna cause problems. I
personally keep my house at seventy four. I know you
guys are gonna probably freak out, like seventy four. Wow,
But you know what, my kid there's always two cold.
Speaker 2 (38:47):
He wants to grab a back you know what, right,
if you like a little toasty, as long as it's
not eighty four.
Speaker 1 (38:51):
But that was great advice. To not put your stress
on units in that way. And yes, I said units,
never put stress on your unit and look out to
it for that way. This week it's going to be
a bat wing stort of weekend. But stay cool, stay hydrated,
all right. Yah.
Speaker 2 (39:05):
There were a couple of stories that I thought were
fascinating I saw on the news. One of them Dan
Byer was talking about dB give us the story on
this Olympic trial.
Speaker 4 (39:12):
Yeah, So the US swimming Olympic trials going on in Indianapolis.
And one of the stories that happened yesterday, I believe
it was, was the engagement that Lily King had her
boyfriend James well James Wells proposed to her after she
just qualified for the Olympics in swimming the two hundred
meter breaststroke. Now, she spent to the Olympics previous last
(39:35):
two years or the last two times, and then this
was her second event that she qualified for this year
to go to the Paris Games. But after she walked
off stage after qualifying for the Olympics, her fiance was
there proposing to her, you know, on one knee, ring
in his hand and proposed to her. And there's been
(39:56):
a little bit of backlash on him maybe trying to
stee ill some of her Olympic glory moments.
Speaker 1 (40:02):
Doesn't that I get what you're saying.
Speaker 2 (40:05):
I get the backus important one of the most important
moments of her life. A guy's proposing to her. But
it does feel a little like you ever go to
a wedding and someone does something stupid like announces a
baby or something. They're like, we're having a baby. It's like, dude,
it's their wedding day.
Speaker 1 (40:20):
It's safe. It's not your moment.
Speaker 3 (40:21):
There's been other proposals at wedding receptions before.
Speaker 1 (40:25):
That is just a bone bad move mant thinking, Jackie,
that is the weakest.
Speaker 4 (40:30):
She even said that she was not expecting this, that
she thought maybe after the Games in Paris, because they
were going to be in Europe, that at that point
she would get it. So she was surprised by this
proposal coming at this time.
Speaker 1 (40:42):
Yeah, because it's bad timing. That's why she's surprised. Look,
this was an amazing moment for her right Olympic qualifier.
She's going to the Olympics, Lily King, She's already excited.
So that's one great moment. Why not spread out the
great moments. Why are you combining them? I think they
watered down each other. I think he could have enjoyed
(41:05):
this moment with her, not taken away from this moment
by adding and piling on with another proposal, another moment,
and then a few weeks from now, Hey we're celebrating
this qualifying moment, and then proposed, and then you have
another great moment. Why not spread out the fun.
Speaker 2 (41:21):
Don't steal someone else's moment is the lesson to be
learned here. If you're at a party, an engagement party,
a wedding, anything, that's not your chance to make your
big announcement, ya morons?
Speaker 1 (41:31):
All right, well think about it. Let's know what you think.
Speaker 2 (41:34):
Comte On rich More next right here on Fox Sports
Radio
