Aaron Torres, if you will forgive me, I have a huge,
huge correction to make. It's not that I had misinformation.
I just did not have all of the information and
maybe an even bigger apology to Joey Chestnut. As we
are broadcasting live from the tierraq dot com studios. Tyrac
dot com will help you get there an unmatched selection, fast,
(00:40):
free shipping, free road as a protection. You know over
ten thousand recommended installers tierraq dot com the way tire
buying should be. No apologies to the Dallas Cowboys who
have had an awful off season and I don't see
it getting much better. We dive into that and so
much more on this fourth of July. Welcome in hit
him up at Aaron Underscore Torres. You can find me
had Dan Byer on Fox Iowa Sam this Year producer
(01:03):
Shay Mazi Bilano's. And here's where my correction happens. Aaron
Torres Joey Chess that down to fifty seven hot dogs
at his events at for Plisz, Texas, beating those four
soldiers who combined for forty.
Speaker 5 (01:19):
Nine hot dogs. Okay, they did it in five minutes.
Speaker 4 (01:23):
The Nathan's hot dog eating competition had theirs in ten.
So Joey Chess that down fifty seven hot dogs in
five minutes, and today's winner at Coney Island had fifty
eight in ten minutes.
Speaker 5 (01:36):
Woh.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
So, I'm telling you, man, I think this this speaks
to the point that we well we didn't lead to
show with it necessarily, but.
Speaker 5 (01:45):
It's taken over.
Speaker 3 (01:46):
Well.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
No, I mean I think he's I mean he's bigger
than the sport. I mean he's he's been competing against
himself for years, and I think he's just bigger than
the sport because I mean he he you know, he's
having his own event, but he clearly dominates the sport
in a way that nobody else does, and nobody else
is even close. And so when he's not there, I
(02:10):
think it's a little bit of a tough watch. I'm
not gonna lie it's always a tough watch.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
But it's always a tough one. It's just not it's
not a watch at all.
Speaker 4 (02:16):
It's maybe the right way, but you know, there's there's
something about and this is where I would say, like
the power of it, and you're making it a Netflix special.
I have not tuned in on any other eating competition
or streamed any other eating competition in the other three
hundred and sixty four days of the year. Sure just
is not happening. It's July fourth. I always watch. I
(02:40):
always like to have the lacrosse National Championship on a
Memorial Day. That's a tradition. This is the other tradition
for the fourth of July in having this event taking
place today. So I will say that there is something
to the event. But you know, the event did make
Joey chestnut. And even though he's developed, you know, bigger
(03:01):
and bigger, we're not watching him eat you know, baked
potatoes or baby food or or donuts or kale or whatever.
We heard today one guy from Australia eight I think
thirteen pounds of fudge. Thirteen and a half pounds of
(03:25):
fudge by James Webb of Australia, in eight minutes he
was one of the contenders.
Speaker 5 (03:32):
But like, that's ridiculous.
Speaker 4 (03:33):
Like I'm not turning on ESPN News or whatever to
see the fudge eating contest. I'm just not And I'll
watch the hot dog eating Got this. So, while I
get what you're saying, it didn't have maybe as much buzz,
I still tuned into it for what the contest is,
not because Joey Chestnut was or wasn't there.
Speaker 5 (03:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
I think I think it's you're tuning in because of
the pseudo routine and tradition of it.
Speaker 6 (03:59):
You know.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
I mean if the Hot Dog Eating Contest was on, uh,
you know, I wouldn't That's what I was gonna say. If
it was on a Tuesday night on July twenty seventh,
you would be like, well gotta what.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
No, It's like you know, so I get it.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
Uh, but I will say, yeah, Joey, let me ask
you this real quick. I know, we gotta get the Cowboys,
America's team all that real quick? Are you going to
watch the Kobiyashi Uh, you know, assuming you're available, assuming
it's at a time that you can stream it whatever.
Speaker 5 (04:27):
Yeah, yeah, I probably would tune in because.
Speaker 2 (04:29):
I will And my whole thing is, I don't I
don't really watch the Hot Dog Eating Contest regularly, But
if I know that there's only one guy that, in theory,
in the history of this event, can, in theory beat
Joey Chestnut, I'm more likely to tune in kind of
in the same way of whatever, if it was Tiger
versus phil In going into a final round, as opposed
(04:51):
to Tiger versus some guy I've never heard of. So
I think that part is interesting is I'm not I
find it to be a tough watch the Hot Dog
Eating Contest, but that of event I may actually tune into.
Speaker 4 (05:02):
It's funny because I'm not saying that it's pretty at all,
but I don't get as disgusted as others are about it. Shae,
our producer here on staff, has the whole breakdown on
why they use water and whatnot. But you have your
own title, Shae, to your ledger. In a local establishment
(05:23):
across the street from us.
Speaker 7 (05:24):
Yeah, so, as you guys know, we have the Buffalo
Wild Wings right across the street from us, and they
have this own little challenge there where it's you eat
twelve of their spiciest wings, which don't get me wrong.
They're extremely spike. If you have one, you're dying. So
it's twelve of their fastest wings, twelve their wings, and
you have to eat in the fastest time. So I
went there with a bunch of people. They had like
a little contest going on, and then I actually ended
(05:45):
up breaking the record for the fastest time to eat
those twelve wings, and my time ended up being a
minute in thirty five seconds. And because I got that record,
I had free wings from b Dubs Buffalo Wild Wings
for two years and I got that record in high school,
so ca and came in Andy.
Speaker 5 (06:05):
Waw, how did you get? Like?
Speaker 4 (06:08):
What did you Was there a strategy that you used
to down the twelve of them that quickly?
Speaker 5 (06:14):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (06:14):
So basically I went in there because if you won,
if you won the event, you didn't have to pay
for the wings. So I went there with no money,
thinking I need to win this event, like I need
to do this exactly. But I so like there's a
special way to eat wings obviously, like the easiest wing
to eat are the actual wings other than the drumsticks,
(06:35):
because you could just kind of like pull it off.
So I just kind of put my mind over matter. Yeah,
the flats exactly. I kind of just put mine over
matter and just kept eating and just didn't really stop.
And then like it's you kind of just got to
get put in a mindset almost, and like I think
that's what these guys like. They don't care, Like you
can see them just shoving stuff down their mouth like
(06:55):
it's you. Just as you said, dude, like, well, these
guys are from hell.
Speaker 4 (06:59):
So there was there was a TikTok or a Twitter
video years ago that showed you how to properly eat
a flat where then where you can take you know,
twist it and break the bone off in the whole deal.
Is that what you did? Like so you would kind
of just whip out the two bones and eat it
as like a nugget.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
That's the slow way. That's the slow way.
Speaker 7 (07:20):
Oh that's so what you do is is you literally
you need to hold one end of the of the flat,
and you kind of well, everyone's looking at the oyster,
so you kind of just like put your teeth on
the end and then just pull and like you're kind
of grinding your teeth on the bones, but like not
enough to where it's hurting obviously, but it all just
kind of falls off and then with the drumstick, what
(07:41):
you got to do is is it's kind of like
corn on the cob. You kind of just like put
your top teeth on one of the uh yeah, and
you just kind of roll it as fast as possible.
But there's no water, there's no ranch, there's no nothing
with this one. There's water with the hot dog any contest,
but with this one, it's it's the big thing is
just getting over the the hump of it being so hot.
Speaker 5 (08:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (08:03):
Yeah, Still the best part of today and props Shay
and your accomplishment, Thank you, guys, was George Shay's introduction
of our buddy, George Chiger, the the Red Horse of Death.
And if you missed it, this is what it sounded
like on ESPN.
Speaker 8 (08:19):
Ladies and gentlemen, I give you George Chigger, the Red
Horse of Death. A man so evil they put him
in prison, in hell, hell prison.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
You know, I hope hell. I'll say this.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
I think the Red Horse of Death is very underrated
in that because you just go straight to the hell prison,
you forget all about the Red Horse of Death.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
What is the is that like a hot dog?
Speaker 2 (08:46):
Is that the Red Horse of death, like like if
somebody cut, like if is red, if somebody was like, oh.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
Dude, I was Sam's coming to the party. Just watch
out for that guy.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
That guy is they call him the red Horse Death,
Like I Am not messing with that guy.
Speaker 4 (09:00):
And he's got red hair. So that's why I think
that's why he's the red Horse. Okay, because George Chigger
was it looked like he was a little gingery the.
Speaker 8 (09:08):
Red Horse of Deck, a man so evil they put
him in prison.
Speaker 5 (09:14):
In hell prison. Oh my god, I'm about to.
Speaker 4 (09:22):
Put that intro past the Chicago Bulls intro of the
nineteen nineties, like.
Speaker 5 (09:26):
That is so good it is. I mean, it is
just top notch, top level.
Speaker 4 (09:31):
And if you miss the hot dog geting got es today,
that's what you missed. You may have also missed the
news that dek Prescott was recently spotted wearing a walking boot.
Moncey had this in the update, suffering a mild right
foot sprain. A minor sprain is what.
Speaker 5 (09:49):
They're calling it.
Speaker 4 (09:50):
Monty, I believe had the info that he's out of
the walking boot.
Speaker 9 (09:54):
Now, yes, according to ESPN, which the article changed so
they updated it and it just says According to the source,
he is no longer in the boot and they don't
know exactly when this was taken this picture, but he's
not expected to be impacted by the injury. Training camp
starts July twenty fifth for the Cowboys.
Speaker 4 (10:15):
Okay, so let me just let me write this down
and Aaron, you can help me keep tabs on this shot.
Speaker 5 (10:20):
Dak Prescott in a walking boot.
Speaker 4 (10:23):
Ceedee Lamb's probably gonna hold out a training camp because
he wants a new deal that doesn't have a new contract.
Micah Parsons is mad at his teammate for calling him
out for having a podcast. They didn't replace the running
back that they had replaced, Ezegil Elliott, and yet they
bring Ezekiel Elliott back.
Speaker 5 (10:41):
This is this is a mess.
Speaker 4 (10:44):
This is this is It's not only the it's the
exact opposite of going all in for what Jerry Jones
said they would to do, because everything is going wrong now,
like nothing is. It's one thing to just flatline and
be status quo and not do anything, and that would
be contradictory towards all in. But Aaron, it is, it's
(11:06):
it's it's just getting worse and worse. Dak doesn't have
his contract. Now he's in a walking boot. You don't
really have a starting running back that's capable in the NFL.
You drafted a new left tackle in the first round
of the NFL Draft. I mentioned Micah Parsons not happy
with Malie Hooker's comments about his about his podcast, and
(11:27):
every year we talk about teams that are in the
playoffs and not in the playoffs, and and I felt
that the NFC has been pretty easier to get into
the playoffs over the last couple of years. You still
have to get through a team like the San Francisco
forty nine Ers to try to get there, or the
Philadelphia Eagles. But I think the NFC is getting better.
And and Aaron to have all of these problems in
(11:47):
an off season, I don't care.
Speaker 5 (11:49):
I know it. When the game's played, that's what counts.
But when you have an off.
Speaker 4 (11:53):
Season of what seems to be like problem after problem,
Mike McCarthy maybe getting a little fed up with Jerry
Jones was the piece which really ripped the entire the
way that the entire front office has operated. That was
the intent of the actual piece that was written about
a month ago by Ty Dunn I mean, it's just
been an awful offseason and I think the Cowboys are
(12:14):
in serious jeopardy of missing the playoffs if things don't
start to go their way the right way.
Speaker 2 (12:19):
One hundred percent. I actually heard Jason McIntyre say this
on The Herd the other day. He said, the worst part.
It was a great quote. It was from a movie
or something. He said, the worst part about the Glory
Days is you kind of never know when they're over
or when they began, or that you're in them. And
it feels like the Cowboys, I mean, they've had so
many great regular seasons in a row, and it just
(12:40):
feels like that window is closed and it's just going
to be fascinating to watch, you know, the moves that
were made and the moves that weren't made. And I
would add this to Dan, and I might have said
this with you the other day. I can't remember. But
obviously there's a lot of parallels with the Lakers and
you know whatever, the two biggest franchises in the respective sports.
(13:01):
But I think the other thing that stands out is
the perception of both these these franchises. I think the
Lakers kind of got exposed this offseason that they're not
very well run. And I look at the Cowboys and
I actually do.
Speaker 5 (13:16):
Think they're pretty well run.
Speaker 2 (13:17):
But I don't think Jerry Jones operates that organization the
way that we think that he does. And I think
it goes back to that playoff game against the Green
Bay Packers. They're completely unprepared. They get blown out by
the youngest team in the NFL at home after winning
the division. It's not even close, it's not even competitive,
and we're all sitting there saying, well, Mike, you can't
(13:39):
bring back Mike McCarthy after this, Bill Belichick's available, Pete
Carroll's available, this Nick Sabans all of a sudden, and
they just ran it back. And so to me, it
just speaks to this organization isn't run the way that
we think. The Dax stuff is obviously interesting from the
perspective of are they you know, it seems as though
they're kind of put up or shut up mode before
(14:01):
we give you this big contract. But I just think
there's a lot more cracks in that organization, much like
the Lakers that maybe are now getting exposed this offseason,
because to your point, it's kind of one weird thing
or bad thing after another.
Speaker 4 (14:15):
It starts to be a numbers thing. And we didn't
even talk about Dan Quinn leaving to become the head
coach of the Commanders. So now you have a new
defensive coordinator and Mike Zimmer there trying to you know,
trying to turn things around. And you know, it's funny
because you talk about playoff losses to Green Bay and
you know, they had the playoff loss to the Niners
a couple of years ago where just at the end
of the game, like they were in the game, but
(14:37):
there are decisions in the game that just kind of
had you scratching your head. And then when ze Goot
completely ran over just it's it was a mess. But
there's also you go back and you think of the
glory days that you were mentioning that that McIntire mentioned
the Aaron Rodgers to Jared cook Pass. You know when Dallas,
you know, years back, was thought to be like at
(14:58):
that point, maybe that was the high point when they
were the top seed at that time, Maybe that was
their opportunity to season and we thought there would be
more opportunities to do so, and and they have, they have,
they have gotten back to the playoffs like we've seen,
but they've thrown some stinkers in there. And now I
think when you look just look at the NFC and
(15:18):
if you take San Francisco and Detroit, you would assume
that both of those teams make the playoffs. I think
Green Bay we would assume makes the playoffs. Again, I
know it's not given, but I think those teams are
the way that they're structured, not out of the realm
of possibility of them getting into the playoffs. The Eagles,
you would think, talent wise still there that they would
(15:40):
probably get in, probably maybe be.
Speaker 5 (15:42):
The be the champions of the of the NFC East.
Speaker 4 (15:45):
That agreed because very well a possibility taking down the
Cowboys for that spot, which, by the way, we know
that there's always different winners in the NFC East year
after year. I think that we think the Rams are
going to be pretty good and the washing.
Speaker 2 (15:58):
Is going to be improved, I mean magnificantly, but some
that's not too easy wins on the schedule.
Speaker 4 (16:03):
Tampa took Detroit, you know, gave them a bit of
a fight in the divisional playoff, so you've got that.
So no, there's now there's at least six teams and
if you wanted to, you know you can. Atlanta should
be better with Kirk Cousins, right Orhie Morris like, we
expect that offense to be better and if anything, they
have nine and eight maybe written all over them, but
(16:25):
that could be good enough for the playoffs. The point
is is now there's better teams than that NFC. So
when you think that you can maybe just get there,
and not that the Cowboys coasted through another years, but
in another years, I think you could only look at
three teams that everything else was a crap shoot. And
now you're like, well, geez, if this team's going to
be in, that team's.
Speaker 5 (16:41):
Going to be in.
Speaker 4 (16:42):
There's not as many more spots as you would think.
So if you're Dallas, you're gonna have to be winning
a bunch of games like you have in the past.
And right now things haven't gone at all your way
this offseason.
Speaker 5 (16:52):
Why would you expect them to go your way once
the season started.
Speaker 1 (16:55):
Yeah, it's interesting.
Speaker 2 (16:56):
I think there are some takes that, as we get
deeper into the offseason, become consensus that I think, you know,
I don't necessarily agree with, and I can't think of
a great one off the top of my head. But
I just bring it up because this one it feels
like everybody is kind of on the same page of
something's definitely not right. It's hard to imagine them maintaining
(17:17):
the level they've been at, let alone you know, somehow
surpassing it. This is when it feels like everybody's on
the same page and I think they're right. You know,
sometimes when there's a group consensus, group think whatever, you know,
it ends up being dead wrong. And this is just
one where, like I just said a second ago, I
really find it hard to see a scenario where they're
even as good as they've been the last couple of years,
(17:39):
let alone better think.
Speaker 4 (17:40):
Everybody thought last year Minnesota was going to take a
step back or the Giants would take a step back.
Speaker 5 (17:44):
And what happened.
Speaker 4 (17:45):
The Giants in Minnesota took a step back, and on
Minnesota had injuries. Kirk Cousins, that is a part of it,
but you know, Giants took a big step back. They
had injuries as well, But yeah, that seemed to be
the consensus last offseason.
Speaker 5 (18:00):
Alice seems to be the team this time around.
Speaker 4 (18:01):
He's erin Torres, I'm dan Byer hanging out for in
place of Cavino and Rich Here on this fourth of July, Iowa.
Sam is with us as his producer Shay and Monty Belangio,
So we'll give us an update of what's happening today
coming up at the bottom of the hour. The Dallas
Cowboys aren't the only teams in the crosshairs of skeptics
around the football world. In the college football world, there's
(18:22):
another program that is completely under the microscope, and some
people don't think they're going to be as good as
maybe their head coach thinks they are. Who could that be?
He's erin Torres. I'm Dan byer Or live from the
tirerec dot Com studios. That's next year on Fox Sports
Radio hell Prison.
Speaker 3 (18:40):

Speaker 6 (19:18):
Mather on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcast or wherever you
get your podcast.
Speaker 4 (19:22):
It's Covino and Reret Sjohn Fox Sports Radio on a
fourth of July. I'm Dan Byer, He's erin Torres in
for CNR. They're in for Dan Patrick this week on
the Dan Patrick Show on Fox Sports Radio doing the
Dan Slam. Their time there is done, though tomorrow Doug
Gottlieb and myself will be in. Jason Store will be
(19:43):
there as well for Dan Patrick. So glad to have
you hanging out with us tomorrow. On this spot, it's
Jason Fitz and Kevin Figures here on this extended weekend.
If you a lot of people eron Torres uh, he's
erin Torre's. I'm Dan Byer in for Communo and Rich
making this a four day weekend, get busiest travel days,
you know, yesterday and today, and they expect Sunday to
(20:04):
be crazy wherever you are because so many taking advantage
of the Thursday holiday today then taking Friday off. Maybe
businesses gave their employees off on Friday and making it
a Saturday and Sunday, but should be crazy out there
for the weekend, but especially on Sunday when everybody's trying
to motor back home from their vacas.
Speaker 2 (20:21):
Can I tell you don't want to out anybody, so
I won't share any names. But my wife, she works
in an office. They have like a full normal day tomorrow.
Speaker 5 (20:31):
It's unbelievable.
Speaker 2 (20:32):
I'm like, what, like Torre's household alarm's going off at
five point forty like any other day tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (20:39):
Like what do we do?
Speaker 5 (20:40):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (20:41):
I thought this was America, you know, Like, what are
we doing? Give us the fifth off? What are we doing?
A nameless, faceless company that I can't name because I
don't want to get anybody in trouble do it?
Speaker 5 (20:53):
This company, I think is also one of those as well.
Speaker 2 (20:56):
So I think that this is a twenty four hour
news network that's a little bit different. Rue for Fox
Sports Radio, I can promise see that.
Speaker 4 (21:03):
I have always felt bad for the people who had
to go to work the day after Christmas because I
feel like there's such a build up and like there
are still Christmas happenings going on at like five and
six o'clock at night the day before, and it's such
a build up and then they have to like go
to work the next day, Like it's such a quick turnaround.
Speaker 5 (21:24):
I think that there needs to be.
Speaker 4 (21:25):
A if people are, you know, claiming they need a
buffer for the super Bowl where it's too much on
a Super Bowl night for them to go to work
on Monday. And so if the NFL does expand they'll
have the President's Day weekend to do that, then they
can sure as heck, you know, have off Friday from
the fourth of July if it's on a Thursday.
Speaker 5 (21:46):
Yeah, I completely that's That's how I feel bad for
your wife.
Speaker 1 (21:50):
But what about me?
Speaker 2 (21:51):
I gotta get up five forty like it's you know,
any other Friday.
Speaker 4 (21:56):
Well, there's the advantage is maybe there's another day off
somewhere else.
Speaker 6 (22:00):
Is that?
Speaker 4 (22:00):
Could that be the case down the line where you know,
some companies have a maximum amount of days off that
they'll give, So it fluctuates on when certain holidays are.
Sometimes you'll get New Year's Eve off, other times you
won't get New Year's eve off. So there are a
lot of Yeah, but that would stink. Yet in her part.
Speaker 2 (22:18):
I do sort of own my own company because I
own my own media company. But my whole thing is,
if you're a boss, like you just do it for
team morale, Like, just give them the day for nobody's
gonna get anything done. Nobody's happy to be there. Everybody
else has the time off. It's just you know whatever,
I'm over it. But yes, to your point, a lot
of people, not only a lot of people chose to
(22:40):
make it a four day weekend, like you or me
or whatever, but like they just have a four day
weekend because their company kind of has common sense.
Speaker 5 (22:49):
It sounds like hell.
Speaker 4 (22:51):
And speaking of hell, if you've missed it, the line
of twenty twenty four so far happened at today's hot
dog eating contest.
Speaker 5 (22:58):
From one George Shay Here. It is amen so evil.
Speaker 8 (23:04):
They put him in prison, in hell, hell prison.
Speaker 1 (23:10):
That's my west's boss. That's how I feel about my
wife's boss.
Speaker 5 (23:13):
Right now. Oh that's what it's gonna be like going
to work tomorrow morning.
Speaker 1 (23:16):
Right put him in hell prison, right now?
Speaker 5 (23:19):
Imagine this is what it feels like.
Speaker 4 (23:21):
This is what it's gonna sound like when you open
the door to work on July fifth, a Friday, at
eight am wherever you are.
Speaker 5 (23:28):
This is what it's gonna sound like. Amen, so evil.
Speaker 8 (23:31):
They put him in prison, in hell hell prison.
Speaker 5 (23:36):
Oh that is work on Friday, July fifth.
Speaker 4 (23:40):
We don't mind working because we can play that over
and over and hear it.
Speaker 5 (23:45):
Manzi Bilanios is at the news desk.
Speaker 4 (23:47):
Let's jump over to her before we get into our
college football conversation.
Speaker 5 (23:52):
Welcome to Hell Prison.
Speaker 10 (23:54):
I will say, Dan, I'm glad you brought all of
those soundbites into our life because they were so good.
Speaker 5 (24:01):
Just it's.
Speaker 10 (24:06):
It's just I wonder like he does he have somebody
that writes this with him?
Speaker 1 (24:12):
Does he is he his own writer?
Speaker 2 (24:14):
I feel like his entire life is built built up
here this day.
Speaker 11 (24:19):
His year revolves around coming up with these incredible, incredibly
epic intros.
Speaker 4 (24:24):
He is an interesting character, like in that Kobyashi documentary
that seen it.
Speaker 5 (24:31):
Yeah, yeah, like he's.
Speaker 1 (24:33):
He's sort of evil. He's sort of sort of evil.
Speaker 2 (24:36):
No, he literally, uh, because I wasn't gonna say it
earlier because everyone was having so there were so many
good vibes about the hot dogging contest. He basically like
turned Kobyashi into like like he turned Kobyashi into like
a character and like an anti American character, but like
Kobyashi didn't really understand what was going on and he
went into like a deep depression because of it.
Speaker 1 (24:57):
Oh, it's like actually sad. So I actually don't like
this guy.
Speaker 2 (25:00):
Although the lines are catchy, but I didn't want to
bring that up earlier because everybody was digging the lines.
Speaker 1 (25:05):
But you know what I'm talking about Dan, Like it's.
Speaker 4 (25:07):
Kind of yeah, I know, I'm appreciating the showmanship. Yeah,
that's he things can be true, can I Also?
Speaker 11 (25:14):
So I've heard from people that he's also like the
primary secretary or like receptionist if you want to get
in contact with like certain competitive eaters, like he fields
like calls and interview requests or I don't, I don't like.
Speaker 8 (25:28):
You call it one hundred a hell prison man, so
evil they put him in prison in the hell.
Speaker 10 (25:35):
It's just really good prison. Well, you guys mentioned that
Pat Berti Letti won it right fifty eight hot dogs,
but you didn't mention the lady's side.
Speaker 1 (25:46):
Mickey Pseudo.
Speaker 10 (25:47):
She won the women's competition with fifty one hot dogs,
breaking her record of forty eight set in twenty twenty.
Speaker 1 (25:54):
That is a lot of hot dogs.
Speaker 4 (25:55):
Her boyfriend was, h was it Gosh, I've got the
name in front of me.
Speaker 5 (26:01):
It was Weary? Who Weary was? That's gosh? Nick Nick
Nick Wherry is her boyfriend.
Speaker 4 (26:08):
Because they interviewed her during the mail the men's competition,
and she was talking about, you know, like the things
that they do to prepare for these eating contests and whatnot.
Speaker 10 (26:17):
I see, I see. I was like, where are you
going with this? All right, I'll tell you where I'm going.
I'm going to Seattle where the Mariners have just exploded.
Speaker 1 (26:23):
It was a tie.
Speaker 10 (26:24):
Game with the Orioles. They were tied at to a piece,
but a five run seventh inning. It all started with
JP Crawford a three RBI double and then Mitch Garver
just hit a two run shot. So it's seven to
two now top of the eighth inning. The A's have
added another run. They're still blanking the Angels for zero
bottom of the eighth inning. Earlier today in baseball, I
mean everyone's played. So the Cubs beat the Phillies, who
(26:46):
have the best record in baseball ten to The Red
Sox top the Marlins six five and twelve innings to
complete the three games sweep, while the Twins crushed the
Tigers twelve to three and seven innings. Due to weather
it was wrapped up, the Reds beat the Yankees to
complete also a three game sweep. Also victories for the Guardians,
the Astros, the Cardinals, and the Nationals.
Speaker 1 (27:06):
That was the first game of the day.
Speaker 10 (27:08):
At Wimbledon, Novak Djokovic won his second round match, and
so did American and thirteen seed Taylor Fritz and fourteen
seed Ben Shelton. Francis Tioffo is also advancing to the
third round, but he's gonna face Novak Djokovic, so that's
gonna be hard. On the lady side, Jessica Pagoula, the
number five seed, lost her second round match in three sets,
becoming the highest seed to lose in the tournament thus far.
(27:31):
The number twelve seed Madison Keys She's headed onto the
third round, and so is world number one egs Viatik
Coco Goff still in it. She's gonna have her second
round match tomorrow. Andy Murray, who is having like his
Swan song. I don't know if you guys saw the video.
ESPN posted it a ninety second standing ovation like they
couldn't stop cheering for him. It was such a sweet moment.
Speaker 1 (27:51):
He got very teary eyed.
Speaker 10 (27:52):
He's not doing the singles, but he is still doing
the doubles and lasting here in the NBA that the
Warriors are acquiring Buddy Healed via sign and trade from
the seventy six, who in return are going to get
a twenty thirty one Dallas second round pick. Twenty thirty
one sounds so far away, and yet it's it's scary to.
Speaker 5 (28:09):
Here before you know it.
Speaker 1 (28:10):
It's scary.
Speaker 4 (28:11):
By the way, the opposite of Wimbledon and Andy Murray
today is hell prison like that was the That's the
exact polar opposite.
Speaker 1 (28:18):
Yep, yep, what you had, Yes, sweetest moment. Yes, yes, prison.
Speaker 4 (28:28):
It's also the base or whatever is behind it.
Speaker 5 (28:32):
It's just it works so well. Thanks Manzi. Yes, the uh.
Speaker 4 (28:37):
I don't know how the Colorado Buffaloes will feel that
they're old digs. The Big Twelve will be is there
back again, but Aaron Torres is here. I'm Dan Byer
in for Covino and Rich and the Big Twelve media
members released their pre season poll for how they think
the standings are going to be. Utah one of the
(28:58):
new members coming in at number one. Colorado Buffaloes picked
eleventh by the members of the media out of sixteen schools.
That is not good, Aaron Torres. You're going to a
new league, a league that should be easier than what
you just had to navigate in the PAC twelve. And
if no one has faith in the Colorado Buffaloes in
(29:22):
only picking them to be eleventh, coming off of a
season and maybe coming off of a week where we
criticized Deon Sanders again for being Sportsperson of the Year
last year because he had a good three or four
weeks in September. You just wonder we talked about Nebraska earlier.
Nebraska gets Colorado at home, there's the opener against North
Dakota State. Who dangerous to Bison?
Speaker 9 (29:44):
Are?
Speaker 4 (29:44):
Both you and I know we love everything that's going
on up in Fargo. I'm just saying, if there's not
a lot of love for Colorado entering the season with
shad Or Sanders, with Travis Hunter still there, you're being
picked eleventh in the conference. You have a couple of
big games early if you drop those which I don't
think would be I mean, you're expected to beat North
Dakota State, but if it wasn't upset, I don't think
(30:07):
it would be Appalachian State Michigan by by any means,
then you got to go to Nebraska, who we think
is gonna be better. I'm just saying that, like, I
don't think it's gonna be as easy for the Buffalo
as the second time around. And I'm wondering if things
could crumble fast for Dion in a second year. If
you don't get off on the right foot.
Speaker 2 (30:24):
It's tough because you know, I am less anti Dion
and Colorado as a lot of people. You know, we
could debate whatever, but they did have a four hundred
percent win percentage improvement from one win to four. The
other thing I'd say to like, you're gonna laugh. Jmarrt
laughs at me all the time. On my Saturday show.
(30:45):
I did watch a little bit of the Colorado spring game,
and I only bring it up because, like Shaudor really
can sling it, and it's like we forget, like, yeah,
there was a lot of craziness in those first couple weeks,
but like Shaudor really is an awesome quarterback. And if
the O line is just a little bit better, if
you have just a little bit more balance in the
(31:06):
run pass game, and he's not getting sacked. By the
way Colorado gaey up the second most sacks in all
of college football, I could see the scenario where they're
actually not only improved, but significantly improved. But what I'll
also say, Dan is I've been doing this long enough.
You and I have both been doing this long enough
where I'm kind of at the point with teams and
(31:27):
players and coaches and whatever, which is when they show
you who you are, believe it. And there's just so
much chaos in that program constantly, between noise between social media,
between players transferring in and out. I mean, even you know,
somebody like Dylan Edwards, who was kind of the star
of the first game, has known Dion was his coach
(31:49):
when he was a kid on the youth circuit in Dallas.
He transferred out this offseason. So you know, last year
when there was all these transfers, you could say, well,
you know, these guys don't ride with Dion whatever. But
it's just there's just a lot of moving parts in
and out and there's just a lot of chaos, and
I tend to lean more towards where you are, which is,
I think there's a better chance that it completely blows
(32:09):
up than that they completely surprise everybody and go nine
and three or eight and four, anything like that.
Speaker 4 (32:14):
Yeah, to the start of the year when they're they're
three and oh, and they get that win against Colorado
State with the you know, everything that surrounded it, and
then you have that huge game at Oregon where you're like, okay,
you know, and I get why they probably laid an
egg and because Oregon was that much better than they were.
But you then barely beat a bad Arizona State squad
(32:35):
and the bar was so low for them to get
into a Bowl game, and then you just couldn't get
anything done. They did play a few close games down
the stretch there, but I just wonder.
Speaker 5 (32:47):
If you don't get.
Speaker 4 (32:47):
Off to that good start that you had, especially now, honestly, Aaron,
with the pro aspirations of both Hunter and in Shador
of if you're not there or it's not there or
it's not happening, how much do you risk you know,
in terms of so I'm saying like, if you're sitting
there and you're hovering, and you're even just mediocre, just
(33:09):
fighting for a bowl game at that point, I just
I wonder where the motivation would be considering, you know,
your aspirations of being in the NFL and making it
to the NFL.
Speaker 5 (33:21):
And I.
Speaker 4 (33:23):
Know there's the whole thing about competition, but what Dion's
biggest selling point will be as a college coach will
probably be the talents of Travis Hunter and shad Or
Sanders at the next level, to show that you can
put guys and have the guys succeed at that point.
And I don't know if you'd want to put that
in jeopardy. I know it's way down the road, but
if things do get mad, I do bad. I think
(33:44):
that those things do pop up.
Speaker 2 (33:46):
Three of their first five are on the road, including
at Nebraska, which should be pretty improved. I saw the
stat blew me away. I knew Nebraska played. They play
a lot of close games every year. They lost four
games last year they went five and seven. They lost
four games by a feel goal, four games by a
field goal, and five of their.
Speaker 1 (34:02):
Seven losses were by a touchdown or less.
Speaker 2 (34:04):
So they probably won't be favored anywhere close to it,
and there so three to five on the road North
Dakota State, to your point, is tough. And I'll say this,
even though the Big twelve is not as tough as
the Pac twelve, a lot of these teams.
Speaker 1 (34:16):
You know, Kansas State's a really solid program.
Speaker 2 (34:18):
Arizona's coming off a ten win season, including a win
over Utah or a win over Colorado.
Speaker 1 (34:23):
You still have Utah. So I'll just go back to
what I said.
Speaker 2 (34:27):
I think that I can see the scenario where they
exceed expectations, but I could also I think it's more
likely exactly what you just said. It gets ugly, there's
a weird loss. There's turmoil. You know, you start to
hear stuff coming out of the locker room, and I'm
afraid that could be what ends up happening with Colorado.
Speaker 5 (34:44):
He's hereon Torres.
Speaker 4 (34:45):
I'm Dan Byer Relive from the tire Ac dot Com studio,
sitting in for Cavino and rich On this fourth of July.
Lebron James finished second in the NBA this past season
in Jersey sales. Next season, will he finish second in
his family in Jersey sales. We discussed next year on
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (35:05):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in

Speaker 8 (35:18):
Man So Evil they put him in prison in Hell,
Hell Prison.
Speaker 4 (35:26):
Uh, Covino and Rich here on Fox Sports Radio. I mean,
are you guys he's here, Torres, I'm Dad by our
in for Comviuno and Rich on the fourth of July.
Do you guys still think it's funny as funny every
time you hear it like it is? It's just amazing
to hear the introduction from the Hot dogg Geddy contest
today George Shay on ESPN with the great introduction of
(35:48):
George Chiger.
Speaker 5 (35:49):
It was.
Speaker 4 (35:50):
It was amazing And I laugh every time, Torres, I do,
and it's like a true laugh. I think it's funny
because it's the build up, and even the first five
times that we played it, I didn't appreciate Hell prison
at the end as much as I do now. But
it does make me laugh every time we hear it.
Speaker 1 (36:08):
I mean, he just really sets it up exceptionally well in.
Speaker 5 (36:11):
Prison in Hell Hell. Can we hear the whole thing again? Iowa.
Speaker 4 (36:18):
Sam's here, Producer Shay Mantis hanging out. I want to
get to this Jersey talk quick, but we got it.
Can we hear the first part and then the second part,
which is the Hell prison that we love, just the
lead up of George Chigger? Yeah, can we get Can
we hear both of them? Just because it does lay
it lays out, and each person had their own different intro.
(36:39):
But George Chigger is how it's pronounced, was like the
evil guy. He's the redhead. He's the one. He had
a towel over his head.
Speaker 5 (36:48):
Do we do?
Speaker 4 (36:49):
We have that clip? All right, let's hear it. This
is George Shay earlier today at the hot dog eating contest, who.
Speaker 8 (36:56):
Speaks in the language of Hell to herald the coming
reign of darkness.
Speaker 12 (37:02):
O say le joshten de West York Rtraw crooked tree,
or translated to English, prepare to spend eternity.
Speaker 5 (37:14):
In a bit of torment. My time as at HAF.
Speaker 8 (37:18):
Ladies and gentlemen, I give you George Chigger, the red
horse of Death, a man so evil they put him
in prison, in Hell, Hell prison.
Speaker 5 (37:33):
It's magnificent. Every single time.
Speaker 2 (37:37):
We were talking about, like you know, do you think
he like preps this. I get to see him, you know,
in his office, you know, a week ago, eleven thirty
am and just crumpled up pieces of paper, like just
trying to get the exact right now.
Speaker 1 (37:54):
No, no, that doesn't work.
Speaker 2 (37:55):
Throws out a piece of paper and there's just crumpledaper
all around and there he goes.
Speaker 5 (37:59):
Help, I got it. That's it. That's it. Oh man.
Speaker 2 (38:06):
I will say, even though, like I said, if you
watch that documentary on Kobyashi kind of a jerk, he
is a hell of an entertainer, I.
Speaker 4 (38:14):
Will say, yes, yes, quite the showman. You can say
yeah for a variety of people. All right, here's the
deal I mentioned. Lebron James finished second in jersey sales
in the NBA this past season.
Speaker 5 (38:27):
Surprising, but not surprising.
Speaker 4 (38:28):
Not surprising, Aaron, because the Lakers jersey popular jersey, Lebron
is popular. But it's like if you don't have a
Lebron jersey already, you know, like, are you getting the
new one? Did you get the new one? Because he's
back to number twenty three and not wearing six, but
second behind only Steph Curry in the NBA Steph number one,
same thing like if you don't have a Steph Curry
jersey already.
Speaker 5 (38:47):
Like why are you? Why would you get one? Now?
Speaker 4 (38:49):
My question is though, and I know Manzi's a Clippers fan,
so like take that aside, But if you were to
buy a jersey, if you guys were to buy a jersey,
would you Lebron's Lakers jersey?
Speaker 5 (39:01):
Orould you buy Bronni James Lakers?
Speaker 10 (39:04):
Are you making those to my only options?
Speaker 5 (39:06):
Yes? The only two options? Like, if you're picking, you're
gonna buy a Lakers jersey? Like, is it the Bronny
James one? Like cooler and newer? No?
Speaker 1 (39:14):
No, no, you don't think cooler, but it is newer.
It is newer. But no, I'm not getting the Bronny.
But if there's only the two, though, what I'm.
Speaker 10 (39:23):
Gonna get Lebron's? No, if I'm gonna have if I
would never buy a Laker jersey, You're I'm gonna have one.
It's gonna be Lebron not Bronni and Manti.
Speaker 5 (39:33):
You're probably statistically correct.
Speaker 4 (39:35):
I remember at a Super Bowl and I filmed about
twenty Patriots fans on an escalator.
Speaker 5 (39:40):
There were nineteen Tom Brady jerseys.
Speaker 4 (39:43):
There was like maybe a Gronk jersey that was sprinkled in,
but the only jersey people were wearing were Tom Brady
and so may be the fact that the Lakers Shay Iowa, Sam,
who would you get Bronni, James, Lebron, Bronny by the way,
wearing number nine.
Speaker 5 (39:58):
For the Lakers.
Speaker 1 (39:59):
I probably go Lebron.
Speaker 5 (40:00):
You'd go with Lebron, Shay, Yeah, I'd probably go with Lebron. Wow, disease.
I'm with tora Is.
Speaker 4 (40:05):
I thought like it'ld be the cool thing and the
new things where Bronni's number nine.
Speaker 1 (40:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (40:11):
I just think there's a real like anti Lebron sentiment
right now that I don't think people fully appreciate. Like
people Lakers fans hate Lebron because of what he's done.
Speaker 1 (40:21):
Go ahead, MONI No, I was agreen with you.
Speaker 10 (40:24):
I was like, they do, but they hate the fact
that because of him, they also drafted Bronni.
Speaker 1 (40:28):
I don't think any hate is to Bronni. I think
it's all to Lebron, right.
Speaker 10 (40:32):
But I don't because of that, I still don't think
they're happy with the pick.
Speaker 1 (40:35):
You know, I don't think who do you think?
Speaker 5 (40:37):
Who do you think sells more?
Speaker 4 (40:38):
Bronni James or Anthony Davis Jerseys.
Speaker 10 (40:41):
Oh, that's an interesting for this upcoming season.
Speaker 1 (40:44):
That's interesting. I would think it's a d right.
Speaker 4 (40:47):
He didn't even crack the top fifteen.
Speaker 10 (40:50):
I don't know anything.
Speaker 5 (40:52):
Yeah, I don't know. I'll tell you what.
Speaker 4 (40:54):
The Connect four is going to be popular though, great
choice by Dalton Connect to where Connect four four?
Speaker 5 (41:00):
Yes, yes, so good.
Speaker 4 (41:02):
I will see you all in hell prison on the
fourth of July Prison.
Speaker 5 (41:06):
Wrich
