Do any of you do any of you realize how
difficult it is to convince your wife that you should
get a PS five when you need a new washer
and dryer. It is the impossible quest that I am
dealing with this week here Aaron Torres as the EA
Sports College Football twenty five game, by the way, already
(00:41):
out for some who pre ordered. I did not pre
order since I don't even have the system to play it.
But when you actually need two appliances that wash and
dry your clothes, it's very difficult to say I need
this one to play football on. That's where I am
in this day and age. Here on Fox Sports Radio,
we are broadcasting line for the IRA dot com studios
tyreq dot com. We'll help you get there an unmet selection,
(01:03):
fast free shipping, free road acid protection, and over ten
thousand recommended installers. Tirec dot com the way tire buying
should be. I'll say this, My households the exact opposite.
I'm a very simplistic person.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
And my wife food like it was her birthday this weekend,
and you know, you do the whole sweetie, anything for you.
She's like, well, I do need a new purse, and
I'm like, no, you don't. When I say anything for you,
I mean like a back massage, maybe, I don't know,
like you know, desert it dinner, Like what are we
talking about?
Speaker 1 (01:31):
Anything for you? Yeah, that's a metaphorical not a literal.
So I'm the opposite.
Speaker 3 (01:35):
Get her a purse? No, oh geez.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
I mean we went away for a weekend and I
paid for everything. But while we were there, it was
like the oh, you know, I had so much fun, Like, oh, we.
Speaker 4 (01:47):
Purse.
Speaker 3 (01:48):
Even if your purse sucks, you still got her a purse.
And you gotta get her a purse. No, you gotta
get her She doesn't need the purse, You don't need
the ps fozi. He's got to get her a purse, right,
he has got to get her up. Oh, you would
be sleeping on the couch, ford, should I ask you
for a purse?
Speaker 1 (02:07):
And you don't get me a purse. No, No, that's
not what she asked for. That's not that's not what
this was. Well it sounded like that's what you said.
Speaker 4 (02:12):
No.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
No, what Dan was saying was he wanted, like the
extra thing just to have And that's where we are.
And literally it came up during an all expenses paid
trip that I took her on this week.
Speaker 3 (02:25):
Told her that's your gift. That's basically what you're saying,
this gift thing of.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
We were having a moment and she was so happy
and I said, oh.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
Sweety, anything for you.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
She's like, oh, let's go get me a purse. Then
I'm like, and then you shut her down.
Speaker 3 (02:40):
It was, yes, she was. It was comic relief. Is
what she was providing, is what you're saying. She was
like trying to make a joke.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
I would call it more boundary pushing than anything. See
how far shot push things. What was the old saying
the habitual line stepper, I forget? Was that from Chappelle's show.
She's a habitual line stepper?
Speaker 3 (03:00):
For sure? Well, I would have just got her a purse.
And if it stunk, at least you did your part.
By the way, speaking of birthdays. You know what today is?
Right first? You know what today is?
Speaker 5 (03:13):
I know what today is.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
I know Manzi's gonna Moncey is about to break the news.
Do you know what today is? Ryan McMain, Do we
have a drum roll?
Speaker 6 (03:21):
Do we have it?
Speaker 3 (03:21):
Do you have an absolute drum roll? Manzi is about
to break some huge news. They're on Fox Sports Radio.
All right, that's there's not a drum roll. I don't
know what you wanted when I said drum roll. I
said drum roll. So the the drum roll which I
(03:42):
I literally I could go into effects right now, type
D you are and drum roll would be there. I'd
put it on the button bar and I would hit
it and click. Mark's not even on the board and
he knows where drum roll is? Do you have a
drum roll? Manzi?
Speaker 7 (03:55):
I can't have it?
Speaker 5 (03:56):
A second?
Speaker 3 (03:57):
Told? Okay, Okay, now we got in the air tonight.
Great Phil Collins is here.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
Why don't we just stawhi laugh going while we're at it?
Speaker 3 (04:07):
Every What is Manzi? What is it?
Speaker 8 (04:09):
Oh?
Speaker 9 (04:09):
That's what I got too.
Speaker 6 (04:14):
Okay, So today is Dan Buyer's half birthday.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
Yes it is, Yes it is, Thank you very much,
Thank you very much. So No, he didn't tell me this.
I just knew that's what he was saying.
Speaker 3 (04:29):
Manzies is in nine days. By the way, yeah, July
twenty fifth, her half birthday officially today, folks, forty seven
and a half. A raight, I am in the last
quarter of my forties. I realized, if it's all you know,
two and a half years throughout, I am in my
last quarter, the last quarter mile of my forties, forty
(04:49):
seven and a half. Today. Some stop celebrating their half
birthdays when they were eight and a half. Not me.
We are keeping this bad boy rolling. It is my
half birthday.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
I could use a purse here. You can't wait till
your birthday and we'll reconsider it.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
We'll discuss. But he's gonna say, now, all right, I.
Speaker 2 (05:06):
Get you half a purse to half birthday.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
You can get me a clutch, right, it's a nice clutch.
It's a man purse if we're talking Seinfeld, which, by
the way, crossed over with friends. Never remember when Ross
and Chandler showed up at Jerry's. That was a great episode.
Speaker 2 (05:26):
One of the fourth day the owners, didn't they play
for the Yankees?
Speaker 1 (05:30):
George was working for them. That's the way I remember it.
Speaker 3 (05:32):
I could be used man Elaine, David Chandler didn't.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
Here's the thing, in my defense, no one remembers mad
about You except for Isaac apparently. I mean, that's just
it's a show like oh that there was that show
Mad about You?
Speaker 3 (05:46):
Oh what was it?
Speaker 1 (05:47):
It was like all the other sitcoms is oh, married
couple gets into crazy?
Speaker 4 (05:52):
You know.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
Sure she asked for a purse at some point on
that episode.
Speaker 3 (05:55):
I went to best buy dot com last night to
look at this PS five and write my PS five
comboed with College Football twenty five like it's a package,
like it's telling me I just cannot like I'm getting
so close. It is just and I saw some of
the highlights and I my, gosh, am I just gonna
(06:15):
go and play the game and lose forty nine to
nothing in the opener, you know, do I get it?
Jason Stewart yesterday when we were in for Doug Gottlieb
was trying to convince me that it's another step to
cutting the cord. And I think it's just maybe another step,
you know, where I would be distracted by something, but still, gosh,
I feel like I'm closer to getting one today than
(06:35):
I was yesterday. I don't know if this is a
progressive thing throughout the week, but I did not X
out my tab on my browser, so I'm sitting here
looking at it. By the way, another point in this,
because Donovan Edwards is one of the cover Yeah, so
Michigan had Denard Robinson on the cover of the last game, yes,
(06:57):
which is also the span of twelve years when Michigan
was actually decent. So in then entire twelve year span
that Michigan that there was no game. Michigan wasn't any
good anyway. But now for some reason they luck out
and get you know, back to back cover cover boys,
if you will, part of college football, part of the luck.
Speaker 2 (07:15):
There's really not a lot of marquee names coming back
to college football this year. That was the big thing
was like, if you take out the Colorado guys, Chadoor
and Travis Hut are probably two most famous college football players,
but that's obviously a different level fame.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
It's like, who's the most.
Speaker 2 (07:30):
Notable player come back, probably Quinn yours and then there
and then there's a huge gap, you know, and again
then you get into like is arch Manning actually whatever?
Speaker 3 (07:39):
You know?
Speaker 2 (07:39):
And it's like Carson Beck, how many people really know?
So anyway, that's not that's not the point of the segment.
But yeah, there's not. I mean, think about Donovan Edwards
was the backup running back at Michigan.
Speaker 3 (07:49):
They needed somebody from the National Championship teamers Hunter fits
the bill for Colorado, yours fits the bill popular players,
if you had to have another one, That's how it
ended up playing. Playing out that that it makes sense,
but just the point of and then having those three,
a lot of people were wondering who it was going
to be. Who is gonna ultimately be the cover, and
(08:10):
then we found out a few weeks ago that it
would be, uh this trio off Players, but again getting
closer and closer to thinking that it's gonna happen. But
I almost feel like if the game is out and
I don't have it like that day or like this weekend.
Speaker 1 (08:24):
I know you're gonna lose the interest.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
Yeah, because people will still be playing, no doubt, But
right now it's everybody like, oh my god, just cracked
it open first time, blah blah blah, and it's like
by third you know, we know how how fast the
world moves?
Speaker 3 (08:37):
Did you play this game?
Speaker 2 (08:38):
The Oh yeah, I mean yeah when I was in college.
This is what I said when we filled in for
Doug Gottlieb on Monday. You know, if not by my
wife a purse doesn't lead to divorce, this game certainly
would have, because you know, I got a little bit
of an addictive personality, and you know I you know,
and I'm a competitive person. Right, you know, you lose
that season opener all of a sudden, We're not we
(09:01):
might have to finish the season, recruit a new recruiting class,
get started on next year.
Speaker 3 (09:04):
So yeah, I'd be hook is this is where we
kind of open it up to you. This is where
Cavino and Rich really excel. They do they allow you
to be a part of the show. They're not in today.
We are. We're gonna let you be a part of
the show, whether it's this game or heck, even Aaron
in real life. Who are you wanting to lead to
(09:24):
that national championship? Who are you wanting to lead to
win it all? To win the college football playoff? Maybe
starting from scratch, there are a bunch of different ways
to go eight seven, seven, nine, to nine on Fox.
That's eight seven seven nine nine six six three sixty nine.
If you've already got the game and have already started
(09:44):
your dynasty, let us know at Aaron Underscore to as
you can find me at Dan Byron Fox as well.
It's a great question game or in real life. If
there's a program that you would want to lead to
win a national championship, who's it going to be?
Speaker 2 (10:01):
Well, in the game, there's only one that that is
the correct answer for me. I mean, it's it's an
athletic department that has success in virtually every sport. Two
time defending national champions in basket, men's basketball, Women's basketball,
of course, is coming off of Final four appearance, baseball
off of Super Regional appearance. Women's ice hockey, men's ice
(10:22):
hockey really good, but the football programs falling on hard
times now. I believe in the current administration of Jim
Mora and the Yukon at Yukon for the Yukon Huskies,
but this rebuild is gonna take more than just Jim Moore,
although I think he's the right man for the job.
I think it would take Aaron Torres. I think it
would take a you know just a it's the maybe
(10:43):
the biggest rebuild that you can have in that game.
But I think if Jim Moore is not the man
to get Yukon back to the top, I am I'm taking.
Speaker 3 (10:51):
He's taking the Yukon Huskies in this game to win
a national championship.
Speaker 2 (10:56):
That's also my alma mater. For people who are wondering
why that I made such a weird selection.
Speaker 3 (11:00):
And for those of you that may have missed Aaron
and I yesterday when we were in for Doug Gottliebun
Fox Sports Radio, I told Aaron that in the fall
of nineteen ninety five, our entire dorm, I should say that,
not the entire floor, but we had twelve to fourteen
guys in this league on our floor that would play
(11:22):
this game on Sega Genesis W Yes. So, but then
fast forward to I don't know seven eight years later,
you're now onto the PlayStation, you're onto a memory card,
and some of my buddies and I that I worked
with at our affiliate in Wisconsin in Madison, you know,
(11:42):
I'd work three to eleven. I'd maybe run the you know,
the Brewer game at night on the board, and once
I'd get done, it'd headed over to my buddy's place.
He and his roommate. We had a four person league
where we would play against each other. Then that kind
of wore down, and I know one of the guys
there would only recruit. He would skip all the games
and do only recruiting. And yeah, that's what people are
(12:06):
doing it They would skip this season, you would fast
forward all the games. I am not like that. I
only cared about the games. That is.
Speaker 2 (12:14):
That is what I that's the part of the game
that I love. A lot of coaches have gotten fired
because they don't like to recruit. That's all say. I
am going to I am going to make I'm going
to give you a team. I'm going to give you
a school. And I think it's the only correct answer.
But it's not for the video game. I know that
this school has not had the greatest of fortune that
(12:37):
maybe they had at one point, but it is it
is a no doubt, no brainer that if you were
to win a national championship at this school, it is
bigger than anything else. And it is Notre Dame. It
is we look at there's a conversation now. Aaron Torres
of Notre Dame's just not what it once was. Very
(13:00):
fair argument, sure, But what you don't realize is when
Notre Dame is what it was, it's bigger than anything else,
no doubt about it. And so like if you were
to win. That's why I think it's the only correct
question if your answer to the question, if you're talking
about real life, put your rivalries and your hatreds all aside.
Texas was a rival of one that I thought would
(13:23):
be right there. But really, after thinking about it, if
Notre Dame was as dominant as Alabama would have been,
the love of Notre Dame football and the celebrity that
would come of it would have been five to ten
times bigger than what Alabama had. Well, and I've told
this story many times. It's just you know, people make
fun of it and Brian Kelly and this and that,
(13:44):
but it is such a unique job. Like I've told
this story before, but I remember watching the year they
played Alabama in the College Football Playoff. It was nag
Harris was on the team, but it was New Year's Day.
I was coming in to do radio that that night,
and I'm watching it at the house with my wife
and her family's over and her family's not really into sports,
and so I just bring it up because I'm explaining
(14:07):
to them, like that one school right there in Crimson
they can recruit whoever they want, what you know, get anybody.
Speaker 3 (14:13):
To school whatever.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
And I was like, that other school is a small
Catholic school in Indiana and people either love them or
hate them. And I said, I'm informed because the limitations
they have are so different. So I can't even imagine
what the world would be like in real life if
Notre Dame actually want a championship.
Speaker 3 (14:28):
I just, yeah, it would be them. Of if they
were the dominant team, like you know, in that game,
as you said, they're the underdog and they ended up
getting crushed. But if they're the dominant team, there is
nothing like the college football is just a completely different animal.
Alexis is in Las Vegas. I don't know, are we
in agreement here on Notre Dame. Where are you in
(14:50):
terms of leading a program into a national championship? Hey,
is this Alexis?
Speaker 5 (15:00):
This is Alexis.
Speaker 3 (15:01):
Where are you on who you're going to lead to
a national championship?
Speaker 5 (15:04):
Man, you guys stole my answer, But I was gonna say,
USC are Notre Dame.
Speaker 3 (15:10):
Perfect Notre Dame.
Speaker 5 (15:12):
I have to say, if you can.
Speaker 3 (15:13):
Bring to U back, But why why USC?
Speaker 1 (15:18):
I mean USC, you just want to hang out with
Snoop Dogg.
Speaker 5 (15:21):
Just be I mean when USC was going under Pete Carroll,
there wasn't anything bigger ever, and it's just a tradition.
It's the winning, is the coaches, it is the city
of Los Angeles is the colors.
Speaker 3 (15:36):
It this is the great thing, good good uh submissions biolexis,
especially because he agreed with me on the Notre Dame thing.
But think of how many teams feel that they have
a big rivalry with Notre Dame, no doubt, you know,
like USC and Notre Dame obviously, but when you mentioned
the U. When when Miami was was good back in
(15:57):
the day, Catholics versus Convicts. They Notre Dame play Stanford,
you know, they play them every year, like there's the.
Speaker 1 (16:04):
Big ten schools.
Speaker 2 (16:05):
Michigan they don't play every year anymore, but they did
Michigan State for a while. Yes, Florida State of course,
because now they have the ACEC affiliation, they play a
little bit more.
Speaker 4 (16:15):
So.
Speaker 3 (16:16):
Yeah, absolutely, like they all feel like they have this
rivalry with Notre Dame. And that's because it's Notre Dame Maddison,
West Virginia.
Speaker 5 (16:24):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (16:25):
First of all, do you have the game? Matt? I'm
just curious. Do you do you have the game yet?
Are you going to get it?
Speaker 8 (16:30):
I'm gonna get it, all right, I bet money. You
know what's my answer is going.
Speaker 3 (16:34):
To be, Well, it's it's either going to be the
Mountaineers of the Thundering Herd, is my guess.
Speaker 8 (16:39):
I well, that's thundering hurt Come on, the thundering hurting nothing.
It's the most WU is unequivocally a school that does
more with less than any school in America. They're the
pride of the state. They they are the state.
Speaker 3 (16:58):
Do you have Do you think the game has the
vulgar cheers towards Pitt in it? Do you think that
that will be actually in the EA Sports game.
Speaker 8 (17:06):
I just hope that they do have tweet Caroline playing
every now and again. I mean that would be great, right,
although I have to imagine they would blank out the
other part.
Speaker 3 (17:20):
Right by the way during the break. If you don't
know what Matt's talking about or what I'm talking about,
just play it in not likely, not around kids, that's
the best way to do it. Matt's all Mountaineers, by
the way, he wants to beat Notre Dame. Who was
Virginia last played in the national Championship when Notre Dame
actually won it in the Fiesta Bowl.
Speaker 2 (17:40):
And as a Yukon guy, I mean there was a
time when Yukon and West Virginia were the two best
teams in the old Big East Football Conference.
Speaker 3 (17:48):
I just got big d from WV giving me a
West Virginia flag on Twitter. So, like the Mountaineers love
of this game, maybe maybe West Virginia is just the
team that's what we want to know. Who do you
want to reel or fake?
Speaker 1 (18:03):
First?
Speaker 3 (18:04):
Do you have a team that you would want to
lead to a national championship game or in real life?
Speaker 10 (18:09):
I think it would be really fun with their arrival
now in the Big Ten, to take over UCLA and
lead them to national dominance. I think that that would
be that would be a good time. Otherwise I'd probably
pick a big school like an Alabama or a Penn State.
Speaker 3 (18:24):
I think would be a lot of fun.
Speaker 10 (18:26):
And either side of what.
Speaker 3 (18:28):
Do you think would happen if UCLA became dominant in football?
Speaker 2 (18:32):
What do you think you could sell out to Rose
Bawl after winning a national That's what I'm wondering, like honestly,
a true, true question.
Speaker 3 (18:38):
Like I'm not a native of here, but I've lived
here nineteen years and I know that there's some excitement,
but I don't know what it was like in the
late nineties when cade McNown was here.
Speaker 2 (18:49):
But I could be crazy, but I moved here in
twenty twelve and I obviously live out by the Rose Bowl.
Even the early more years, it felt like they did
a pretty decent job of filling the stadium, and I
just don't know why it went so sideways so fast. Now,
I will say, as a Passading a resident, they should
not be playing games in September before nighttime, like like
(19:12):
in Arizona. Arizona and Arizona State cannot play by law
games during the day because it gets too hot. Pasading
is like one hundred and ten every single day in
August and September, and that's why they don't get crowds.
But also, you know, the team has been very good ship.
Kelly certainly wasn't the most uh you know, uh energetic
guy to lead a fan base.
Speaker 3 (19:32):
Why they need the Rose Dome, right, that's not just
kidding completely.
Speaker 1 (19:37):
I take away those mountains.
Speaker 3 (19:39):
When people would complain about whether at Lambeau, I would
say Packer's Dome. That's your answer right there, the Dome
over Lambeau, completely kidding.
Speaker 2 (19:47):
Well, well, and since we're not talking necessarily even about
the game, if I can stay on the subject of
programs very quickly, I thought you were you set up
Notre Dame. That's the right answer, But I would put
the next tier in terms of importance to the fans
of that team, and maybe even more important than Notre
Dame fans Nebraska. I mean, you and I. We've talked
(20:09):
about Nebraska so much, you and I. But I got
a soft spot because when I was growing up, they
were Alabama. It's like every year they just won the
national championship and they've been so bad for so long
and it's been so heartbreaking to watch, and they still
show up. They have a sellout streak dating back to
nineteen sixty one. Dan Byer, I get it, I get it.
(20:30):
I just I think my number two is Texas. And
I know you're like, you give the thumbs down, but
the arms down, Yeah, you should give me that but
that is the most mileedge. I mean, we're still like
we still talk about the Vince Young Texas team and
that game and in that state, how the alums, you'd
(20:51):
just be embraced. You go to any you know, any
place in Texas and if you are a part of
that Longhorn team to win a national championship, not to
say that you obviously wouldn't do that in Nebraska. The
point is is in Nebraska there's Omahon, there's Lincoln. Where
in Texas there's Dallas, there's Austin, obviously San Antonio, Houston,
(21:14):
and I know Texas A and M isn't far away,
but still like there's Longhorns everywhere, So that would be
the second one. I just like I think that Notre
Dame just as the program, like we look at Notre
Dame like it's not Notre Dame.
Speaker 3 (21:28):
In the past, and it's true. But if they were
to win, and if they were dominant, it would trump
anything we've seen, whether it be from Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, USC, Michigan.
Their greatness trumps all and I don't think that that
has gone away.
Speaker 2 (21:43):
I agree, and I would add one quick thing. The
caller that said USC I wasn't here for the p
Carrol years, but it did just feel different Hollywood. Like
he said, the uniforms. I mean they play in a
place called the Coliseum. That's pretty cool. I mean there's
a lot of state there. Neeland Stadium, Bryant Denny Stadium,
Mountaineer Stadium. No disrespect to any of those, but like
(22:07):
the Coliseum, la Will Ferrell and I will say, like
the Texas thing. And obviously those two schools are tied
forever in history because of the six Rose Bowl, But
there is this weird thing of like anytime they have
a three game win streak, they're like, it's just.
Speaker 1 (22:23):
Are we back to the peak Carroll?
Speaker 2 (22:25):
Like I remember I was at PAC twelve Rest in
Peace Media Days and it was Sark's second year. Now
he only made it two years, but the first year
they went nine to four and some every reporter was like,
do you feel like we're back in the peak Carrol days?
And Sark was like, no, we have so far ago,
we're not even close. But it's like, but it does
(22:47):
speak to how many people want it to.
Speaker 1 (22:50):
Be like that, So I think us he would be
pretty cool.
Speaker 3 (22:53):
So he's heer and Torres I'm Dan Byer. We are
in for Cavino and Rich live from the tirech dot
com studios again taking your input, whether it be the
video game, whether it be real life. Who do you
want to lead to a national championship up by the way,
West Virginia. Still Leader in the clubhouse for the Mountaineer.
Love that we are getting on social media and over
the phone lines. Hit him up at Aaron Underscore Tours.
You can find me at Dan Byer on Fox. Coming
(23:16):

Speaker 3 (24:24):
I don't know if I should wait for the drums
Aeron Torres or not. He is Aaron Torres. I'm Dan
Byer in for Cavino and Rich trying to decipher who
you should lead to a national championship in college football,
not only in the EA Sports College Football Game, but
also in real life. Before we continue that conversation, because
there are a few other schools that I think need
(24:45):
to be mentioned in this talk, I do want to
let you know that Fox Sports Radios teamed up with
Tirec dot Com to give away a set of four
brand new tires valued it up to fifteen hundred dollars
every two weeks this summer. That's all right, Three lucky
listeners will receive a set of four new tires, plus

A winner will be selected every two weeks between now
and August twenty fifth, or a set of four brand
new tires. To enter and get rules vi it Fox
Sports radio dot Com furnished by tire rec dot Com.
The way tire buying should be? How sweet would that be?
Four brand new wheels on your vehicle that you do
(25:29):
not have to worry about if you live in the
Midwest and you know winters, you know on the horizon,
you know, because this goes for another month and a half,
to know that you got brand new wheels on your
ride that you don't have to worry about slip sliding here,
there and everywhere. Yeah, I'd say enter, it's a pretty
good idea.
Speaker 2 (25:47):
Well, and the other thing too, I would add the
mobile tire installation. I was like, I can't sell that
enough in the read that we just did because somebody
comes to your office or home and does it for you.
Speaker 1 (25:59):
As somebody who.
Speaker 2 (26:01):
Barely knows how to use a screwdriver. I mean that's
some good stuff right there.
Speaker 3 (26:05):
Also, if you've ever had to sit at a tire shop, yes, yes, no, dice, no,
thank you, do not want that at all. Michael is
in Virginia. He wants in on the college football national
championship talk. There are a couple of other schools again
that we're leaving out. Michael, welcome to Caveno and Rich
here on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 6 (26:24):
Well, thank you, mister dan Byern. I think the college
football state that I would love to see together championship
would be the Iowa Hawkeyes. I'm originally from Iowa. I
was recruited in the Navy twenty years and I say, say,
retire submarines, just want to put that out there.
Speaker 3 (26:40):
Oh thank you, But I was recruited in Iowa.
Speaker 6 (26:42):
Oh no, it was think yeah, you're welcome. But I
would love to see the Iowahawkeys here das peptas of
whether it's basketball, which we can't close with the women,
but basketball or football, I would love to see that.
Speaker 4 (26:54):
You know why.
Speaker 3 (26:55):
I would like to see yeah, I appreciate it, Michael.
You know, I'd like to see Iowa winning the college
football game because you're likely winning your regular season games,
and they play for like seven different traveling trophies, so
each one you're winning a Pig, you're winning the Syhawk,
You're doing the whole deal. Like there's just there's just
prize after prize. If you're winning all of these rivalry
(27:16):
games that you have with Minnesota, with Iowa State, with Nebraska,
with Wisconsin, all of these matchups, and I just wonder
if I think that you do, I think that you
will celebrate winning the trophy within the game. So if
you are Iowa and you win a national championship thirteen
to seven, I mean, think of all the trophies that
you would have won along the way and the navigating
(27:37):
yourself through the twelve team bracket.
Speaker 2 (27:39):
I think the logical question would be who we hire
on is the offensive coordinator? Because I don't want to
you know, there are levels to this. If I was
gonna win a national championship playing the way they do,
I don't know if I can if I can sign
off for.
Speaker 3 (27:51):
Forty percent of their offensive playbook is punt. Yes, that's
that's what it is. Yes, that is what you get
with the Iowahaw guys Bo Benson year through the Western
Kentucky Hilltoppers just because of the mascot is Western Kentucky.
I mean you could throw the football around the yard
if you wanted to. I mean, like you really, yeah,
that's yeah, you could be the Hilltoppers. How about having
(28:13):
that mascot. I would just want to see the name
in the end zone? You know, do you do Western Kentucky?
Do you do Hilltoppers? Do you do w Kentucky? Because
the end zones in the bowl games are some of
my favorite traditions. Sure, I still think the rose Buls
should fill the entire end zone in, not have that
grass green perimeter around the names. I think the whole
(28:34):
thing needs to be filled in. But I digress. A
Western Kentucky could be a good, good selection.
Speaker 2 (28:39):
I know you said we're talking about teams that in
real life, you know, would would change the dynamic if
if they won a national championship. You said Notre Dame
would be number one. I got one that I think
is even bigger than that school that I well place.
Speaker 1 (28:54):
That I don't know if you're serious, No, No, no.
Speaker 2 (28:56):
A place that I led to a national championship the
last time that I played UH college football on EA Sports.
And it's really not one school, it's three different ones.
But in real life, if Army was ever really good,
or Navy or air Force, but I think Army for
some reason, I don't know, I.
Speaker 1 (29:16):
I because everyone for arm That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (29:18):
Like, like if imagine, like and I know the college
football playoff is different now, but the fourteen playoff era,
you get Army versus Michigan or Army versus Ohio State,
and you have the military personnel walking into the student section, like,
you know, those poor guys from Columbus or ann Arbor
(29:39):
ain't got a chance as far as looking as cool
as they do.
Speaker 1 (29:42):
And you know they they definitely be the crowd favorite
for sure.
Speaker 3 (29:45):
That's that's a pretty good pick. Aeron Torre was like,
I can't argue with that. I thought I was joking
about it. I did. You had this little grin on
your face that I was wondering where you were going with.
Speaker 2 (29:53):
I was thinking about the glory days when I did
lead them to a national championship the last time that
I played uh EA sports College football, which, by the way,
let me tell you, I know the grind and I
know the work that went into that national championship. That's
why I can't buy this game. It's a lot of
work rebuilding that program, but we got it to wear it.
Speaker 3 (30:09):
I have the the most recent game prior to this one,
the thirteen. I had all I shouldn't say all of them,
but I've got some with you know, Utah player on
the cover, another with h was it was it Jordan?
Was it Zabranski from Boise State? I thought that he
was maybe on the cover of one of them. So
I have all these games, but I do have the
(30:30):
last one of College Football thirteen, which, by the way,
there was a time where you could sell it on
eBay for one hundred bucks because people wanted them. And
so the team that I played for, I fired it
up a couple of years ago, and there used to
be people who would input their full rosters. This was
before ANIL, but you could put real names in. And
I play with my favorite helmet in all of college football,
(30:54):
and that's Tulane. I think the wave that that logo,
the green Wave logo go is my ultimate favorite. So
I played it and I had Orleans Darkwah remember of
the Giants. He was the running back at Tulane. So
I was playing a season with Orleans dark Wall at
Tulane in my game. It was amazing, It was great.
(31:15):
But Tulane would be my pick of leading and heck,
they go and they win a New Year's Six Bowl game,
so it's probably not even that much of a chakra anymore.
But all of the uniform combinations I could do with Tulane,
that would be my game pick. So Notre Dame and
I'm not a Notre Dame fan at all, but that
I think is my real one just because of everything
(31:36):
come with it. Tou Lane would be my other one.
Speaker 2 (31:39):
Lincoln Riley got ran over by that Green Wave. He's
never been the same since Man.
Speaker 3 (31:43):
Super Soul sweets in. Nothing would be greater than rocking
to enter Sandman as the Hokies enter the National Championship
losing the FSUN ninety nine, but VT is so fun
to watch. Hey right the wrong twenty five years later?
Great stadium in real life? Yeah, yeah, absolutely, all right.
He's Aeron Torres. I'm Dan Byer.

Speaker 3 (32:14):
Brandon Ayuk staff, You and I were talking off air
news that he's requesting a trade, But really, if the
Niners right now aren't going to do anything with him,
this isn't the first time they've been in this rodeo,
doesn't I don't expect Ayuk to go anywhere for a
team that is in win now mode.
Speaker 2 (32:29):
Well, I think we're all like preconditioned to assume that
anytime a guy demands a trade like the team has
to do it. It's like, no, he's under he's under
his rookie contract. He hasn't made his money yet. I mean,
what are you going to retire? Sit out, you know,
lose paychecks. And then of course they also in theory,
could use the franchise tag on him going forward. So
(32:49):
feels like a bigger story than it actually is. When
you break down the headlines.
Speaker 3 (32:53):
The forty nine ers are, they're in for the season,
and this is the last year that you can play
with perty under his contract. So yeah, to that point,
I would be shocked if they traded Brandon, and you
can at some point do fourteen million dollars this year,
and that's something that you don't want to turn Dude.
Speaker 2 (33:09):
I'd be surprised if they trade him or give him
the long term extension before the season's over.
Speaker 3 (33:13):
He's Aeron Torres. I'm Dan Byer. Thank you to all
of you who participated in our college football talk. I
love it, love hearing the Patrick Mahomes sound that Manzi
brought along. Uh, because we're all kind of in this together.
When it comes to this video game coming out, hit
him up at Aaron Underscore Torres. You can find me
at Dan Byer on Fox. When Tiger Wood speaks, people
(33:35):
listen and one former player probably should be listening closer
than others. We'll explain the whole deal. He's Aaron. I'm
Dan and forgiving No and Rich. That's next year on
Fox Sports Radio.

Excivino and Ritch here on Fox Sports Radios live at
the Tirech dot com studios. The Wii is not giving
on and Rich. It's Aaron Torres and me Dan Byer
in for the guys today, We're gonna be in for
them tomorrow as well. I'm excited tonight Major League Baseball
All Star Game, you can see it on Fox and
starting for us on the West Coast late Wednesday night,
Open Championship. So actually, technically, as we're sitting here, Open
(34:20):
Championship for us here on the West Coast begins tomorrow,
even though it's really Thursday. It's one of the great
the advantages to West Coast TV viewing and football has
talked about a lot, with college football starting at nine am,
the NFL starting at ten AM, but to have the
Open Championship start on Wednesday night, it's pretty pretty crazy,
(34:41):
but yet pretty awesome. One of the stories leading into
the Open Championship this week at Royal Troon is obviously
Tiger Woods, because Tiger Woods is always a story. But
one of the reasons Tiger Woods is a story is
because what Colin Montgomery had to say about Tiger and
let's just say that the Scott to never shied away
from speaking his mind, continued that trend. And by the way,
(35:05):
I love Colin Montgomery as an analyst, and that's what
you ask for. You want people to speak their opinions,
but when talking about Tiger, he said, Tigers, I'm paraphrasing here,
Tiger basically should retire because when he watched him at
the US Open at Pinehers number two, Tiger didn't enjoy
any shot that he hit. There was no joy in
him playing. And he says, what's gonna happen when he
comes here to Royal Troon and the weather's not there,
(35:26):
He's going to be miserable there, so you might as
well retire. Well, Tiger Woods heard those comments. It was
brought up today in Tiger's press availability at Royal Troon,
and here's what the fifteen time major winner had to
say about Montgomery's comments.
Speaker 11 (35:40):
You know, there was comments, you know, last week from
Callin Montgomery who said, why is he here? He should retire,
there's no point to this. Do you feel that's about hopeful?
And you're vne the right to you make the decision
when you decided, Oh, what.
Speaker 7 (35:52):
As a past champion, I'm exempt to him sixty Colin's not.
He's not a past champion, so he's not exempt, so
he doesn't get the opportunity to make that decision.
Speaker 3 (36:02):
I do.
Speaker 11 (36:04):
I mean, you've film that you've deserved that.
Speaker 7 (36:06):
Someone when I get to baby out his age, I
still make that decision.
Speaker 3 (36:10):
Why he doesn't so that Tiger going scoreboard on Colin Montgomery.
But it's also funny considering that golf is like the
sport that you feel like you could play to your
seventy or eighty and uh here Colin Montgomery wants Tiger
to retire, and Tiger has e when he hit fifty.
Yet it's also supposed to be a sport of gentlemen.
There are no loves. Two.
Speaker 6 (36:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (36:29):
I think I was one of the few Americans that
wanted Monty to win because I just I wanted him
to break through. And then he never did, and he
had opportunities and couldn't do it. And you'd always class
with American fans and at Ryder Cups and and but
I really do enjoy just how how London Frankie can be.
I don't agree with his assessment of Tiger Wood's retiring.
In fact, there was a point in Tiger's career where
(36:51):
you wondered if you would settle for playing, say the
Champions Tour, playing when he got to fifty, because this
is a guy who strived on greatness in the ultimate
andess that maybe he would have other parts of his
life that he'd rather focus on than playing senior golf.
One of the things that's actually popped up as of
late is Tiger may want to add a US Senior
Open to his resume and may end up playing in
(37:13):
an event like that coming up in a couple of
years that the USGA puts on, So that is something
to drive Tiger. The other thing about it, there's two
things about why I just retirement is not an option
right now for Tiger Woods. Number one. When Phil Mickelson
won the PGA Championship at the age of fifty, I
think Tiger would love to have the title of being
the oldest player to ever would have made it interesting
and to have Phil have that title basically his rival.
(37:36):
I think that that allows Tiger to strive for that
and wanted to drive for that. And the other thing
on the heels of Bronnie. It's much more realistic for
Tiger to play in the same PGA tournament as his
son Charlie does. Then with you know, lebron and Bronnie
playing together, this is much more realistic and acceptable. If
Bronnie were able to or excuse me, if Charlie Woods
(37:58):
in his later years be able to qualify for an event,
I'm sure there would be a sponsor's exemption for Tiger.
Speaker 2 (38:04):
I was gonna say, Tiger can't just get him a
tour card. I mean, that's that's how he could. Ye, honestly,
he probably could.
Speaker 3 (38:09):
They just gave him an exemption at all the signature
events in the PGA Tour, so he could probably figure
out a way to get his sun in as well. Okay,
I don't think that there's Yeah, there's I don't think
retirement is in the near future for Tiger Woods. And
I actually think now that there is something to drive him,
whether it be Phil's record or whether it be Charlie.
So retirement from Colin Montgomery's suggestion to me is just
(38:33):
not accurate. All right, do you want to do this again? Tomorrow?
I'll be here. I think I'm going to be a
little bit closer to getting that PS five. Although the
crew here has been giving me tips on what to
do and when to do. We'll find out. We loved
your input for aeron Torres. I'm Dan Byer. We'll talk
to you tomorrow here on Camino and Rich at Fox
Sports Radio
