Speaker 4 (00:59):
There is draw com in that National Football League. It
has nothing to do with the Texans and Bears, who
will open up the preseason in less than two weeks.
In Canton, Ohio. You have Baseball's Hall of Fame with
enstrinment ceremonies this weekend, and then in two weeks they'll
do it for the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton.
Speaking of Hall of famers, one of the names that

(01:20):
is in the news is a Hall of famer. His
name is Troy Aikman. Aikman right now having beef with
one two time MVP and current quarterback of the Baltimore Ravens,
Lamar Jackson, and the beef is over the number eight.

(01:40):
This is a battle that is going on as both
are trying to use the number for their own branding
purposes for their own merchandise. Aikman has a beverage titled
eight eight. Lamar Jackson has his own brand apparel Era

(02:02):
eight era the number eight, and Lamar feels that there
is now confusion over the branding. If Troy Aikman wants
to use all of this stuff for his eight, that
it takes away from Lamar using the number eight, And
as crazy as it is, I will take the eight
of ate that is my eight. If I were to

(02:25):
take the eight. You would have no confusion ate, just
like I ate my leftover chicken wings earlier today. There
is no fight over that, but there is over the
number eight. And I actually really don't care on who
gets what in this sort of eight battle, but it
does bring up the conversation of who do you think

(02:48):
of number eight more, Troy Aikman or Lamar Jackson.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
I don't know if this is a generational thing, but
I'm gonna say Lamar Jackson for me, I would say.

Speaker 4 (03:03):
I think Troy Aikman. For me, I think I think
of And honestly, it's difficult because there's another number eight
from Troy Aikman's generation that I also think of. But
I would actually side with Troy Troy Aikman on this.
Jason Stewart, you see the number eight in the NFL
with Lamar Jackson and Troy Aikman. Who do you think

(03:25):
is more more synonymous with the number eight?

Speaker 5 (03:28):
Yeah, I think it's Aikman, And I think, to get
in Lamar's defense, I think he just hasn't played an
entire career. Yeah, we saw the entirety of Aikman's career,
and I think I know the other eight that you're
talking about, right, the other quarterback of that era.

Speaker 4 (03:43):
Yeah, I think so, Yes, Steve Young.

Speaker 5 (03:48):
Yeah, I think about Kobe Bryant eight.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
But I thought we were. But I agree with you.
If I'm thinking of one person for eight, it's Kobe.
But if I'm thinking right now football player, I think
I would go to Lamar.

Speaker 4 (04:02):
Here's my problem with Kobe taking eight is he had
two numbers.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
He did have two numbers. But I would still give
him eight over twenty four. Me too, You wouldn't you
would give him the later number.

Speaker 4 (04:12):
I don't know. It's tough for me to give him
either number of it.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
You don't have a number, Kobe.

Speaker 4 (04:19):
This is the number. This isn't actually so what we've
done here. Obviously we knew we're gonna talk about this conversation.
We didn't know what each person was going to say.
But we've all come up with certain numbers in sports,
don't we? Yep that we are going to discuss on
who gets what on the heels of this. Lamar Jackson,
Troy Aikman, battle, Nick Kope, you're at the news desk.

(04:40):
I did mention Steve Young in the number eight. I
don't know if as you as a forty nine er fan.
If that takes away from Troy Aikman or not. But
if it's Lamar versus Troy Aikman, and who has the
power of eight, who do you think who do you
say resonates more with that number?

Speaker 3 (04:56):
It's Troy Aikman.

Speaker 4 (04:58):
Yes, yeah, I think so too. I I do, Sam, Iowa, Sam.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
I don't think of really any sports person with thank you,
anybody with eight doesn't come to mind. It's not a
number that resonates with me.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
Just being truthful, I'm sorry, No, the first number is
one hundred percent Kobe if it just eight, But I
thought we were sticking to you know, those two. You know,
Jason stole it from me. But yeah, eight for me
is Kobe and obviously Troy Igman. I'm not gonna lie
until this story came out.

Speaker 4 (05:27):
I just don't know how it can be your number
when you leave that number. Okay, there's like very there
there's there's there's and we're gonna have an exercise through
this whole thing. So let's but like Kobe was like,
all right, I don't want eight anymore. I want twenty four. Yeah,
And so then he said good bye to eight. Yeah,

(05:48):
and so that would be like, all right, eight's up
for grabs.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
Eight is single, it can go, And I mean, yes,
what you're saying is very logical. Yes, But I think
when I think of Kobe, like I think of Kobe
wearing the eight with the fro, like, that's the image
of Kobe that I have the most of.

Speaker 4 (06:10):
Are you anybody so it's Jason or Manzi and on
Kobe eight? Nick? Are you in on Kobe eight?

Speaker 1 (06:16):
I think so, yeah, Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 4 (06:19):
I just like I know Iowa, Sam.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
Doesn't doesn't have an opinion.

Speaker 4 (06:25):
There is the angle of.

Speaker 5 (06:28):
The reason why he chose a different number, and I
think maybe it's a little foggy now looking back, but
I want to say that he rebranded after the whole
Eagle Colorado thing. It was kind of like a restart
to his brand, and he became kind of the villain
at that point. If you don't remember, he ran Shack

(06:48):
out of town and it was a couple of years
still from winning those back to back titles alone. So
the twenty four has an edge to it for sure,
because I think that that's is that where you're going
with that, or you just don't think he should deserve
either number because he changed number.

Speaker 4 (07:03):
Yeah, I just I just have a I have a
difficult time when he split his career with two numbers
of being like and I know the Lakers as a
franchise can be like while we retired both. But you
can't do that throughout all of sports. And the problem
that we're having with it is that we can't think
of a lot of number eights in in sports that

(07:26):
would maybe top someone of the name of Kobe Bryant.
There's another that comes to mind outside of of of football,
but that's who it is. Did you say that on
the air or did you say it in my ear?
Sam said it in my ear? Cal Roken, Junior Baltimore Orioles?

Speaker 2 (07:41):
Yeah? Do you feel like that about other players that
have switched numbers?

Speaker 4 (07:44):
So that's the dilemma, right, So, and this is and
we're gonna throw these and numbers out there. We're gonna
go around and we'll discuss some of these head to
head matchups that we have. I don't want to steal
anybodies away, but like Lebron's scenario of twenty three and six,
of going back and forth, well, you can't top twenty

(08:08):
three and so like that's impossible, And I don't know
if I really attribute number six to him.

Speaker 3 (08:15):
No, why is six retired? Bill Russell exactly.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
Yeah, but I don't think of Lebron as twenty three.

Speaker 4 (08:22):
No, everybody thinks of Michael Jordan. Yeah, that's like, that's
that's the other part of it. And Jordan switched numbers.
So that's why I can't say, like, because you switch numbers,
you're not allowed. But Jordan only did it for two years,
didn't win in those years, and the twenty three is
the twenty three. But Kobe knowingly switching numbers and doing so,

(08:45):
and I think he got you know, emojis. This may
sound absurd, but because of our use of emojis and
the infinity sign, you get a lot more mileage out
of the number eight than he did twenty thirty years ago.
So now so so with Kobe, and obviously it was
untimely death, it becomes a bigger sort of deal because

(09:07):
of that. Yes, But at the you know, at the
time and when we were looking of him at his career,
I actually would take Steve Young and Troy Aikman and
tie them to the number eight more than I would
Kobe Bryant. Interesting, yeah, because it just it's and maybe
I'm more of a football guy as well, so like
I lean more towards football, I still.

Speaker 2 (09:30):
Think that says a lot, even though you lean more football,
just because Kobe is such a huge name, you're not
saying as somebody else. So it's just interesting that you
would still pick that.

Speaker 4 (09:40):
Yeah, the twenty four plays into it. You know, you're
seeing him, and I know he won titles in eight.
You know in number eighth you won the last two
and twenty four correct, yep, so so and then you're
setting the records and your final games in twenty four.
I just yeah, it's just from the I think it's
from the era that I came from. What about twenty four?

Speaker 6 (10:01):
What all right?

Speaker 4 (10:02):
Player first comes to mind? That starts as anybody here, Sam,
I don't know if you got any music that you
can strike up to make this thing move a little.
But Nick Cope pro opposed this question, so let's just
serve it up to Nick. So Nick, you will have
you started out twenty four? Did anybody else have twenty
four as the number three?

Speaker 2 (10:18):
You and I have two separate for twenty four because
I kept them with the same sport.

Speaker 4 (10:22):
All right, okay, all right, so Nick, you started off Matzi,
you can add yours if them not with Nick has.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
So, yeah, twenty four. You got Kobe, you got Willie Mays,
Ken Griffy Junior, and you got to throw in the
Rainbow Warrior himself, Jeff Gordon number twenty four.

Speaker 4 (10:41):
I agree, Yeah, I'm going I my generation. Who I
am Ken Griffy Junior twenty four?

Speaker 2 (10:47):
So I agree that it is Ken Griffy Junior. I
didn't put him on the list because I think that's
the answer. So I put two twenty four's that are
a little bit more comparable, right to see who you
would think of. But I agree, I think it's Ken
Griffy junr. Twenty four, El Cabrera or Manny Ramirez Many Ramirez,
Manny Ramirez.

Speaker 5 (11:05):
Interesting, see that's another guy. When when Manny came to
the Dodgers, remember what his number.

Speaker 2 (11:10):
Was, ninety nine?

Speaker 4 (11:11):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm totally just going against my rule immediately,
but immediately I thought, I thought I saw the Boston
red side.

Speaker 2 (11:21):
Yeah that's what you see.

Speaker 5 (11:22):
Yeah, but you have to you have to give a
caveat if you change teams and change that's more forgivable
than doing it in the same team.

Speaker 2 (11:30):
That's a good point. That's a good point. I got
another twenty four when in football Darryl Revis Marshaun Lynch.

Speaker 4 (11:41):
You know, as a Seahawks fan, I think Darrel Revis. Wow, Yeah,
here's here's here's another, here's another reason. This is completely
This may go way inside and only Iowa Sam knows
what I'm talking about. One of my favorite all time
Ohio State Buckeyes was Sewn Springs, who wore number twenty four.
He was the first round pick of the Seahawks in

(12:03):
nineteen ninety seven and war number twenty four. So when
I see number twenty four, I think of my favorite player,
Sean Springs, always wearing the Seahawks twenty four. So I
would likely every Seahawks fan would probably say Marshawn Lynch
in the scenario. It's just different for me because of
Sewan Springs. That's why maybe, and I've always wanted a

(12:23):
white twenty four Seahawks jersey of Sean Springs. Yeah, for
the last twenty five plus years. The throwback. Yeah, just
it's what I always wanted, you know, in college, but
the jerseys weren't readily available. I'd go to all revs
on that one. You guys good with that? Yeah, you guys,
Revs Lynch, where are you a Cohen? That's a good one, Revis.

(12:44):
I guess I.

Speaker 1 (12:45):
Uh, no one's going to pick this one. But there
are only two numbers that are retired in Iowa football history,
and one of them is Nile Kinnick, who won the
Heisman in nineteen thirty nine.

Speaker 4 (12:54):
And he was a twenty four. Yeah we all knew that.

Speaker 1 (12:56):
Yeah, we all knew that number twenty four. Now Kinnick.

Speaker 4 (12:58):
I don't think we would know the number, but we
obviously know the name.

Speaker 1 (13:01):
It's only it's only there's only two numbers retired in
at Iowa, so he was one of them. So I
just happened to know that off the top of my head.
I can't think of any others, honestly.

Speaker 4 (13:10):
All right, what about if I gave you guys number
nine Tony Romo versus Matthew stafford.

Speaker 2 (13:16):
Ooh oh, anyone?

Speaker 4 (13:20):
Pop? I think Romo for me? Who would win that battle?

Speaker 6 (13:27):
For me?

Speaker 3 (13:27):
Too? And that's only because it's the Cowboys, right. I
think that's the power of the star.

Speaker 4 (13:36):
And then this will put a test to it. Because
since Tony Romo won that battle Tony Romo versus Drew Brees,
but not as easy for Monci. That's the power of
the star.

Speaker 2 (13:50):
Yes, that is the power of the star.

Speaker 3 (13:52):
Yeah, cope, it's Breeze won something. Yeah, well he deserves
it and so many and at passing records at the
time as well.

Speaker 4 (14:02):
He was obviously. But if you think of the number nine,
do you immediately think of Drew Brees?

Speaker 3 (14:08):
No, you want to know who I thought of? Steve
McNair o.

Speaker 4 (14:14):
Good one.

Speaker 5 (14:16):
I go baseball with number nine. And this is controversial.
Do you give do you go Roger Marris or Ted Williams,
Ted Williams.

Speaker 2 (14:27):
Probably Ted Williams.

Speaker 4 (14:30):
Probably it's too many. I mean, he's he's the he's
the Red Sox.

Speaker 2 (14:35):
Yeah, yeah, I go, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 4 (14:37):
I have to go with that one. That's a good one, though,
that's a that's a that's a good one. You got
another one once?

Speaker 2 (14:42):
Yeah, I got another one. I got notes, got notes? Sorry, Okay,
what about number one? Number one? Tracy McGrady or Penny Hardaway,
Penny Hardaway, Penny Hardaway.

Speaker 4 (14:56):
Yes, because of the penny it's worth one.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
But mcgre all I think of is Tracy McGrady. When
I think of the number one, I go.

Speaker 3 (15:06):
I think this is the generational divide in the studios here,
because I agree.

Speaker 4 (15:13):
Yeah, T Mat, yeah, it's.

Speaker 3 (15:17):
But our generation was much more right when T mac
was It's oh yeah, that was right when Monsey and
I were were very much at that age to take
in the NBA, and they were early two thousands.

Speaker 4 (15:30):
Do you think I was gonna say McGrady because of
my son's basketball uniformity, Because because Brody loves dinosaurs, I
bought him a Tracy McGrady old Raptors jersey that I
found and it's been one hundred degrees and we still
haven't put it on them because it's so heavy and thick.
And then it made me think, why would a kid

(15:51):
have an authentic NBA jersey that is FOURT but it
is a number one Tracy McGrady. I did. I did
get that one. But I still think the penny, the
one cent.

Speaker 2 (16:03):
On high Field, I get that. I get that, but yeah,
from you would be T mac for sure?

Speaker 4 (16:07):
All right? Is in turn Dean anywhere around because this
one he made.

Speaker 2 (16:11):
Well that we can add Derek Rose to and see
what he says between the three.

Speaker 4 (16:15):
What about this one generation number twenty one Ladanian, Tomlinson
or Dion Sanders, who wins?

Speaker 2 (16:22):
I huh, Dion.

Speaker 4 (16:27):
Yeah, that's for me and Jason saying it As a
Chargers fan, I think that that's yeah, that's yeah. I
would go with that one.

Speaker 2 (16:37):
All right, got another one if you want another one.
This one crosses sports a bit though. Okay, what about
number three ai Alan Iverson or Alex Rodriguez.

Speaker 4 (16:49):
In that scenario? Alan Iverson, Yeah, that's.

Speaker 2 (16:52):
What I think as well, me too, even though though
Alex Rodriguez I think was more liked when he wasn't
three teen on the Yankees. Yes, you know, like so
that's what he was better.

Speaker 4 (17:03):
He was a star, yes, and you know why he
wasn't number three on the Yankees.

Speaker 2 (17:07):
Right because of what's his face?

Speaker 4 (17:09):
On the what's his face?

Speaker 6 (17:11):
Ruth?

Speaker 2 (17:13):
That's what I got it.

Speaker 3 (17:14):
We got it, We got his face.

Speaker 4 (17:16):
You know, what's his face?

Speaker 2 (17:17):
We got it?

Speaker 1 (17:18):
We got it.

Speaker 4 (17:19):
How about this, babe, Ruth? Or Dale Earnhardt Senior number three?

Speaker 2 (17:24):
Babe Ruth?

Speaker 4 (17:26):
Wait no, no, that is not a come on. Come on,
that is not a come on.

Speaker 3 (17:30):
I couldn't have just called him what's his face?

Speaker 4 (17:33):
And that there's a whole generation of Earnhardt fans who
still will hold up the number three. Who's ever driving
that car? Cope? Are you with me?

Speaker 3 (17:43):
I'm with you because I I couldn't have told you
five minutes ago what number Babe Ruth wore.

Speaker 5 (17:49):
So that's the difference, right between me and y'all. I
mean baseball numbers, that's my thing.

Speaker 3 (17:54):
So I feel like, out of the three major sports
were primarily talking here, I feel like baseball numbers, you
just least, you're less likely to associate a number with
the name.

Speaker 2 (18:06):
I don't know if that's you don't.

Speaker 4 (18:09):
For me?

Speaker 2 (18:10):
Is it because they don't wear the names on their back?
So it's just like I don't even know what number
they are.

Speaker 3 (18:16):
I don't know. That's just my experience. You get so
many pictures that that have like Lineman numbers, that.

Speaker 2 (18:22):
Is true, You're right about that, and just so many
more players and the numbers are all over the place.

Speaker 1 (18:27):
What you're saying, I.

Speaker 4 (18:28):
Know, Iowa Sam is tapped out on some of these.
Can you weigh in on Babe Ruth versus Dale or
Anhart Senior? Can you weigh in on this? Do you
have an opinion? Either way, who's the number three? You
associate number three more with? I mean, i'd just go
with I'd probably go with Babe Ruth. All right, okay,
you went with Babe Ruth.

Speaker 1 (18:49):
I don't even think it, like cars have numbers like
in you know, stock car racing, but I don't even
think about the numbers, to tell you the truth, because
I don't really even though they're giants, the giant.

Speaker 4 (19:00):
Fans do this right in honor of Dale.

Speaker 1 (19:03):
But yeah, also there's a bunch of advertisements on the
cars and I'm just like, you know, and they're going fast.

Speaker 4 (19:09):
You mentioned Jeff Gordon earlier, the twenty four. Richard Petty's
forty three is obviously synonymous junior number eight. Yeah, yeah,
and Jimmy Johnson had forty eight. Like those are the numbers,
and I know that there are the Rusty Wallace drove two,
but I don't think it's I don't want to get
too down the rabbit hole, but I'm sorry. Three is
one of the top two numbers in Nascar, I think
in all time and aside from number forty three, and

(19:32):
I think that he is warranted on this list anybody
else any other numbers one? I have alright, cool one
you want to get to, okay.

Speaker 5 (19:39):
Number thirty two, Yeah, this is a tough one, all right,
Magic Johnson or OJ Simpson.

Speaker 2 (19:46):
Magic Johnson.

Speaker 4 (19:48):
Now, OJ would probably kill you for saying that's.

Speaker 2 (19:51):
Fine, that's perfectly fine. He's not around.

Speaker 3 (19:55):
Also, Number thirty two, Sandy Kofax.

Speaker 2 (19:58):
Sandy Kofax, I go match it. Magic. I would two
over Sandy Kofax as well.

Speaker 4 (20:03):
Yes, I have, I've got I've got one more as well.
Number forty five Archie Griffin versus Michael Jordan Archie Griffin
the only two time Heisman Trophy winner from Ohio State.
Or when you look at forty five, do you also
think of the two seasons Michael Jordan wore forty five.

(20:25):
I could have said, Chuck person, I think he also
worked forty five, But I thought Archie Griffin was the better,
better full in this like Ohio State retired forty five.
I think we go with MJ. I think I go MJ.

Speaker 2 (20:38):
I don't. I don't think of forty five and MJ.
I don't.

Speaker 4 (20:41):
You were born in like ninety three or whatever, so
it doesn't even matter. It's only it may not be exact,
but you get but.

Speaker 5 (20:48):
Growing up in the Showtime You know forty five anyone
forty five Showtime wikers Ac Green, that's the that's the
first person I think about. Really, I think forty five
le Centric and what's his face?

Speaker 4 (21:02):
Babe Ruth? Was that?

Speaker 2 (21:04):
But I got it? I said it at the same
time as you didn't, or.

Speaker 4 (21:08):
Dunks, but he worked towards earned by Babe Ruth.

Speaker 1 (21:11):
We're not bunks, all right, talking smack.

Speaker 4 (21:16):
Mark Davies tweeted in with Earnhardt versus Bryce Harper it
with number three. Sorry Earnhart, win wins it. Yeah, that's
the case. If you have any more number battles, feel free.
I do have a couple more less.

Speaker 3 (21:32):
Done the whole hour.

Speaker 4 (21:33):
I'm going to leave it off to our executive producer.

Speaker 5 (21:35):
Well, Sam turned the music off, so he's just done
with those five minutes ago.

Speaker 4 (21:43):
The break never wore twenty four. I knew that Sam
was done. We could do it after the break and
maybe take some calls or something. What did Ricky Stansy
wear at IOWA? What number was that was? Twelve? Okay,
Tom Brady or Ricky stands your opinion. She's my I'm
dan Byer Jason Stewart's here, Nick Cope is here, Iowa

(22:04):
Sam's here. We're hanging out for Cavino and Rich.

Speaker 6 (22:06):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in

Speaker 4 (22:20):
At Fox Sports Radio. Monsey loves one NBA player that
I didn't think anybody liked. We're gonna get to that
in about fifteen minutes.

Speaker 1 (22:26):
It's all rid, but we do have.

Speaker 4 (22:28):
To kind of put a bow on our numbers game. Here.
It is Cavino and Rich. He's Monty Bologos. I'm Dan
Byer hanging out. Nick Cope is at the news desk.
He's going to give us an update and a bit.
Jason Stewart's here, Iowa Sam is here. We just had
a few more number battles to get to this, on
the heels of Lamar Jackson and Troy Aikman having a
battle over the number eight because both of them want

(22:49):
to use the number in their licensing and branding deals.
Lamar for his Era eight stuff. Troy Aikman with his
eighth drink where it's spelled out EIGA. You don't want
to have that confusion. Although maybe if they team up
and be like Shark Tank, it's like two sharks are
better than one. Maybe they can end up making a
whole big thing from it. Who knows, But we started

(23:12):
to debate when you're talking about the great jersey numbers
in all of sports, and it's not the top of
the top sometimes, like the Romo Stafford battle for number nine,
even though most of you guys thought Drew Brees at
number nine. But when you think of Romo or Stafford,
who do you give it to? It's kind of the
you know, a little bit of the same thing with
number eight, because as Sam pointed out, Cal Ripkin Jr.

(23:33):
Like if you are thinking about a number eight in baseball,
Cal Ripkin Junior's number pops up. So we have a
few more to get to before we get to it. Though,
I do want to tell you that Fox Sports Radios
teamed up with tire x dot Com to give away
a set of four brand new tires valued it up
to fifteen hundred dollars every two weeks this summer. That's right,
three lucky listeners will receive a set of four new tires,
plus installation taxes and fees valued it up to fifteen

(23:56):
hundred dollars. It's the Summer of tire X Sweepstakes. Enter
daily at five sports radio dot com to increase your
chances to win. Yes, you can register to win every
day to improve your chances. A winner will be selected
every two weeks between now in August twenty fifth for
a set of four brand new tires. To enter and
get rules is at Fox Sports radio dot com. Furnish
my tireraq dot com. The way tire buying should be

(24:19):
all right? Who did you leave out? What numbers did
you leave out that you wanted to get to? Manzi Milanios.
I know Jason's got one or two. I've got one
or two still left in our numbers battle.

Speaker 2 (24:29):
So I think a number that's used a lot is
number seven in sports. And when you think of just seven,
like if I didn't give you a player, who would
you think of? Seven is used across And I could
give you somebody that one made me really like, huh,
I go lway, you go elway, yep, I have him
on my list.

Speaker 4 (24:48):
Uh huh, yeah, I know Ron Jaworski is not there.
I would say Ben Roethlis.

Speaker 2 (24:53):
That's what I would think of.

Speaker 4 (24:54):
But the problem is Ben Roethlisberger is on record as
saying he where's number seven? For Lway? That would then
I think give it to I did not know that.

Speaker 2 (25:03):
I did not know that Carmelo Anthony was seven, And
I feel like I don't know if I think of
another seven in basketball, I think of.

Speaker 4 (25:10):
Mellow is fifteen. Yeah, so yeah number right? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (25:14):
Yeah, yes he did.

Speaker 4 (25:15):
In college he wore fifteen, So yeah, that's where I
think of him.

Speaker 5 (25:19):
Seven is a weird number if you just think about
the way it looks on a jersey is strange. That's
probably why there hasn't been many great sevens.

Speaker 4 (25:27):
Yeah, that's that's a that's a good that's a good pull.

Speaker 3 (25:30):
What's his name? Mickey Mantle?

Speaker 2 (25:32):
Yes, and then there you go, what's his name?

Speaker 3 (25:36):
That's that's that's gonna be my preface for any baby
Great Herman.

Speaker 4 (25:43):
That's why she knows him as herman. George? Isn't it
George Herman? Babe Ruth? Isn't that the full name? Iowa
Sam at the backup on that one?

Speaker 2 (25:53):
Thanks Sam?

Speaker 4 (25:54):
How about this twenty one? I think we did football before?
What about this? For the NBA? Tim Dunn versus Kevin Garnett.

Speaker 2 (26:02):
Tim, I'm gonna say Tim Duncan. But that's a good one.

Speaker 4 (26:07):
That is a good one, as I give it to
Duncan eight for the titles. But also then Garnett switched
numbers when he went to Boston. He did, so you
kind of again give up that right, But he.

Speaker 2 (26:18):
Did move teams and he made his name with twenty one.

Speaker 4 (26:23):
Yes, but they did retire number five in Boston for him. Well, yeah,
I know. It's it's a trick. It's it's very, very
very tricky. I get it. I completely understand it.

Speaker 2 (26:33):
I would go no Duncan for sure.

Speaker 4 (26:35):
Yeah, I think I would go Duncan as well. I
had one more. I don't think it's really a contest,
but I just had it on here. Number thirty Steph
Curry versus Charrell Davis. I'm a football guy. Yeah, so
thirty pops in, but it's probably Steph crazy. I think
Nolan Ryan oh one, what's his face? Ryan? Yeah? From me? Yeah,

(26:58):
the guy that throws had thirty four as well for
a while. You're right, yes, he was on the Rangers.
He was thirty four. Yeah, yeah, I believe in Houston
as well. But I think in the the other stops.
It was tell you what baseball reference is coming through
like money. We were having a Marshawn Lynch conversation. Marshall
Lynch was twenty three in Buffalo, you know, so like

(27:20):
of him carrying over twenty four in Seattle, where obviously
he made you know, his biggest uh you know, biggest
stop or biggest place in his career for sure, but
again had a different number somewhere else, and.

Speaker 2 (27:33):
I do just associate him more as a Seahawk.

Speaker 4 (27:35):
Yes, yeah, absolutely, yeah, fair enough. All right, that's it.
That's our numbers game.

Speaker 2 (27:41):
That's fine.

Speaker 4 (27:42):
Yeah, that was Oh we do okay, all right, who
do we got because I don't know the computer up to?

Speaker 5 (27:46):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (27:46):
Okay, Nick in Virginia, Nick in Virginia, Nick, what's going on?

Speaker 7 (27:52):
Guys?

Speaker 5 (27:53):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (27:53):
Happy Friday.

Speaker 7 (27:55):
Happy Friday to you. Which TV do you like? Better?
Be twelve? Bradshaw or Brady?

Speaker 4 (28:04):
Oh, it's gotta be Brady, because I even thought, like,
can you have an Aaron Rodgers conversation with Brady head
to head? But now Rogers has switched to eight with
the Jets him forfeitting that. Yeah, I'm going with Brady
on this one.

Speaker 2 (28:22):
Oh yeah, when you say TV twelve, it's Brady.

Speaker 4 (28:25):
Manny's in El Paso. You got another numbers game you
want to throw at us.

Speaker 7 (28:30):
Yeah. As far as the twelves, I'm a Cowboy fan,
so I gotta go with Roger Stack.

Speaker 4 (28:33):
Yeah, good point. I think that actually would also challenge
the Bradshaw portion of it.

Speaker 7 (28:38):
Now number seven. Of course, I'm a Yankee fan Nicky Mantle, Yes, yeah.

Speaker 2 (28:42):
We got that. Yeah, that one's good one.

Speaker 4 (28:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (28:46):
My debate. My debate is I'm also a huge Laker fan.
So do we associate COVID with the eight or the
twenty four?

Speaker 2 (28:52):
We actually spoke about that, and most of us, I think,
said eight, but Dan Bayer did not. He thought it
was tiny. Twenty four you go with the twenty four.

Speaker 4 (29:04):
Yes.

Speaker 7 (29:04):
Why I love Kobe because that's when he was most challenged.
That's when he did it on his own, when Shack
was already gone. I remember on the interviews that he
did with Shack that check at them where you upset
that I wanted a championship. Well, absolutely, I wanted to
go win one. And that's when he was already going
into the twenty four things. That's when Kobe took over
and became the Kobe, the Killer. That's when he was

(29:25):
running through Paul gasalzov Es in the Olympics and so forth.
That's that's how I remember. I loved him in number eight,
but I love him more than the twenty four. I'm
the only reason. The only reason I say that is
because I'm also a big NASCAR fan. So number eight
I associate with dylenhard Junr.

Speaker 4 (29:40):
Sure, Yeah, absolutely, he had He had the eighty eight
car with the Mountain Dew in the A.

Speaker 7 (29:47):
He had eight with Budweizer and eighty eight with Yeah
always guys, thanks for taking my call. I appreciate you, guys.
Enjoy your Friday.

Speaker 2 (29:53):
Thank you, Yeah too.

Speaker 4 (29:55):
Man he's got a tough life. Yankees, Cowboys and Lakers.
He's the only sellar rated ninety two championships in his lifetime.

Speaker 5 (30:04):
Who that's a podcast when you could just have Manny somehow.
But we talked about all our Yeah, that was amazing.
He's it on every single one of them.

Speaker 4 (30:12):
Cope, was that where you were getting at Dalarnhardt with
Budweiser in the eighth I was only associated and that's
my bad. I just was associating the eighty eight with
the Mountain Deukar.

Speaker 3 (30:20):
But I believe that is when he changed teams and
he went to Hendrick. Yeah, yeah, and he got the
eighty eight.

Speaker 4 (30:26):
Yeah. Because each of these teams, that's the thing that
people that don't know and Team NASCAR teams own the yes. Yes,
So that's why you don't carry it over if you
go to a new team, because each of the team
owns it.

Speaker 1 (30:36):
Someone's gonna go smashing into a kiosk if they go to.

Speaker 3 (30:40):
Exist without the other. It's a symbiotic relationship.

Speaker 4 (30:43):
Uh, you can score and buy knockoff cologne in the
same motion. That's great stuff.

Speaker 2 (30:48):
Is this just fifty yards?

Speaker 4 (30:50):
Yes? Yes, well the end zones make it a little
bit longer, right because it's the fifty yard playing field,
and then you have and by the way, the announcers
on the field with the coach.

Speaker 7 (31:01):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (31:02):
Well, the end zones are actually an entrance to Abercrombie
and Fitch.

Speaker 4 (31:06):
And a mom is wandered onto the field looking for
the bathrooms for her kids. She's Monte milanios. I'm dan Byer.

It's Coveno and Arch here on Fox Sports Radio. Captivated
by this AFL championship game that's in a mall.

Speaker 2 (31:47):
We really are and this is a good jam.

Speaker 4 (31:51):
What is spanning the ten yard line to the goal
line in the background is that a baby's r us
is coming soon to this small in New Jersey where
at the half Billings is up on Albany seventeen to thirteen.
This is it's truly remarkable. You can see the seams
of the turf visibly on camera.

Speaker 2 (32:15):
Yeah, there's the panels of turf.

Speaker 4 (32:19):
There's I It looks like the fake backyard grass you'd
get at home depot. It doesn't look like there's any padding.
And the problem with the padding that you would put
underneath is that that also then makes it even worse
to possibly twist your ankle or knee. Man, this is

(32:40):
this is just not a good idea, but it's being
done at a mall right now in New Jersey.

Speaker 2 (32:45):
Just jumped into the people and these people are like,
who is this guy jumping onto our arms?

Speaker 1 (32:50):
But he did?

Speaker 2 (32:51):
I mean, this is awesome.

Speaker 4 (32:53):
I just saw the same stage that Tiffany poyed on.

Speaker 1 (32:58):
This reminds me of when college basketball programs go like
the Bahamas and they play games inside of a ballroom at.

Speaker 4 (33:05):
A resort, except it's ten times worse because it's a mall.

Speaker 2 (33:08):
Yeah, that's what I thought when Nick was describing it.
They had like a space in the mall to do this. No,
this is literally in the middle of where people want
food court. Yes, like where they walk from store to store.

Speaker 4 (33:21):
That's what I called the season the road to the
food court, because that's where they wanted to play this
championship game. Where are we playing at Canton, Ohio, New
York City, close to New York. We're gonna be a
New Jersey, We're gonna be at whatever mall. Truly, there's
a baby's r us in the background it is, and
I think there's a Jersey Mics that's opening somewhere near there.

Speaker 1 (33:43):
Can smell the cinema.

Speaker 4 (33:44):
I think I see a Champ, so I used to
work at a Champs.

Speaker 2 (33:47):
You can spot them from far away.

Speaker 4 (33:49):
Yeah, yeah, Smelling cinemam throughout the entire game would just
be the worst. It's the best, but it's the worst,
all right. The guy's taking it back all the way
down to the hot topic fifteen yard line.

Speaker 2 (34:01):
Top yard line. I'm enjoying this way too much.

Speaker 1 (34:05):
You will say too much.

Speaker 4 (34:06):
You also enjoyed Russell Westbrook's career and continue to enjoy it.

Speaker 2 (34:09):
Don't you dare speak anything negatively, you know, Russell west.

Speaker 4 (34:13):
We talked a little about Russell Westbrook yesterday when Carrie
and Carrie Rhodes and I got together, and I was
just under the assumption that something that people hate Russell Westbrook,
but then everybody's kind of moved on with him. But
you're actually a fan, and you're saying like you love
this opportunity for Russell Westbrook in Denver, And I'm of
the ilk that nobody cares about where Russell Westbrook ends up,

(34:35):
except I don't even know if Nuggets fans are.

Speaker 1 (34:37):
Happy about it.

Speaker 2 (34:39):
Well, yeah, I'm actually surprised because I just thought that
people really appreciated the player that Russell Westbrook is in
the sense that he plays every play like it's the
last play that he's ever going to play. He is
a competitor through and through. And this has nothing to
do with his short stint with the Clippers, which I
think he really was did everything he could for the
Clippers when it was so has something to do with that.

(35:01):
I have always liked Russell Westbrook. I like his attitude,
I like his grit, and I really genuinely thought that
everybody was just kind of like a thumbs up versus
a thumbs down over him. Nobody nobody hates him nothing
yet like you just said, But I thought people generally like,
if you're like, do you like Russell Westbrook, and that's
the only question you gave people yes or no, I
thought you would get more yes is but you think

(35:23):
you get more.

Speaker 4 (35:23):
Nun because my old take was that he had such
good will when Durant left and he stayed and he
stuck around in Oklahoma City that even if they didn't
have great success, he was still the guy that stuck
around for his team. Then we started. Then we started
to criticize his triple doubles and say like, well, they're
really he's patting his stats. They're letting him get rebounds
that he shouldn't get. And then now when you're jumping

(35:46):
from team to team to team to team, I just
I and whether it's his fault or not, I just
didn't think that there were a lot of Russell Westbrook
fans out there, and Manzi to your point of making
your point, we even asked one of our producers here, Ian,
who's around your age. I don't want to make it

(36:06):
a generational thing. But Ian's like, yeah, I think he's
generally liked.

Speaker 2 (36:10):
Yeah, he did. But then Nick Coope went with you
and said, no, I don't think he's genuine gen generally
that one liked, which I just am a little bit surprised.
I just didn't think he ruffled anyone's feathers that bad.
Like when he was left to high and dry to
the thunder, when everybody left, he still took them to
the playoffs by himself. I feel like he has done

(36:34):
what he has been asked of everywhere he goes to.

Speaker 4 (36:37):
Here's a bigger question, as we're a lot from the
TIREC dot com studios. Are these teams going into a
Barnes and Noble at halftime? Where do you have halftime?
Where do you have halftime in the mall? Like?

Speaker 2 (36:49):
Where would you go?

Speaker 4 (36:50):
Maybe you would go to the food court, get a court.

Speaker 6 (36:52):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (36:53):
Maybe you'd go to the department store that closed down.
Do you have it at Sears? I don't know? How
do you go to Macy's? This is this mall game
is amazingly amazing and I still can't get Hey, second
half still to come, but we encourage you to continue
to listen to Fox Sports Radio. Hey, Cavino and Rich
are going to be back on Monday. Monty and I

(37:14):
will be in for Doug Gottlieb on Monday. We'll talk
to you then here on Fox Sports Radio.
