to think we just need to play better than one

I made sure to set up a little area for
him with hay Bear on my iPad, and then I'm
in the main living room with the big TV and
the Raiders game.

So because I think that was the first time. The
first time my kids looked at me like what's wrong
with Dad? Was during a playoff game where they're like,
why is is that pacing and yelling what's going on?

Something's wrong with Dad? I made sure not to snap
too loud, and there were some good takeaways. There was
some positivity with that Raiders defensive line. That front seven
looks awesome the way we figured it would. Christian Wilkins
was a really good addition with Max Crosby now Alt
and the Chargers oh line. They did a good job

pretty much protecting Herbert, although Herbert didn't have a good
day because the Raiders defense, at least their pass defense
really really good. Their run defense something to be uh,
some improvement desired there.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
But so you're saying your run defense is a little suspect,
so good thing again, good thing you're playing the Ravens
next week in the fourth quarter, if you want to
put a positive spin on it, like you exposed these
problems early, so you know what to work well.
Speaker 4 (04:30):
Also, also the Raiders and Minshew had some turnovers which stunk,
but that kept the defense out there too long. In
the fourth quarter, they started to have some breaks in
that run defense and the Chargers and Dobbins went off
there at the end of the game, and then you
saw the two teams get into it in the end
zone with that little what do you call it, a scrum,

little tussle that was fun to watch as a Raider
slash Charger, you know, viewer. And in the stands there
you saw it was sixty f five percent Raider fans,
So good showing here at the home away from home.
But if Minshew can you know, limit those turnovers, get
in sync with his receivers and get some points on
the board, then that can really compliment that defense.

Now, I don't want to be the old guy that
sounds like a hater my loan. Did you see Donald
Trump was not a fan of the kickoff, it's ruining
the game?

Lion scored on their possessions? So Rams didn't even get
a chance for fet and the Lions were probably pumped
about it. But as a as a guy who's watching
a good football game, I felt a little cheat and
I agreed with him on Matt.

I mean I've been on the other side of that,
like last year. The line, Yeah, it goes soothways, You're right, Yeah, I.

Mean game to the Seahawks without getting the touch the
ball in overtime too, But I think at this point,
I think we it's just it's what the NFL is
at this point.

They just they can't. They can't keep going these long overtimes.
It's something they've just Yeah, you got to be happy
with that.

In overtime, it looked like your team was just like,
as they point out on the broadcast, the Rams are
just on their heels, and you guys were just run.

You could have ran that.

they would have just kept getting first down, first down,

satisfying to watch. I think it's even just a fan

The last quarter was was intense. It was it was

Brown a lot and the Rams hit put him in
a box for that entire game pretty much. It was

been trying to work in Jamison Williams, and he went
off last night too. He had an one hundred and
thirty yards the long bomb touchdown from Jared Goff. He
was he's kind of something refreshing considering they've been trying

to work in Jared Goffer. Really, I mean Jamison Williams
for a really long time.

I heard in Dan Buyer's update and if Dan wants
to jump on, we were saying Jordan Love he likely
will not play, but he's not, you know, not being
ruled out. The initial reports were that I read yeah,

but the Packers just aren't willing to go that far.

rest of the division in the NFC does determines how
quickly they try to rush back Jordan Love.

I think that the premise of what you're saying early
on in the season and where Green Bay is may
not have as much of effect. They want to make
sure that they're fine for the latter part of the year,
So I don't think that they would rush him back
by any means. It's just surprising to me on how
they were ill prepared in this scenario. They brought back

Sean Clifford, who had been with the team, but that
was one of the surprises in training camp. As Green
Bay made that trade with Tennessee for Malik Willis, you
never think that you're going to need him in week
two of a season, but here we are, and now
he may be forced to start. And Malik Willis hasn't
done anything in an NFL regular season game that would
make you think that he is ready to step into
any shoes and help an offense, you know, not even

be legitimate, but just you know, at fifty percent if
you will.

So that's the concern.

If I'm Packers fan, because they're winnable games here and
you don't want to lose those winnable games. But it's
a long, long season, guys, And the clarification in the
three to six weeks. Matt Lafleur did say today that
he's not a candidate for IR. So Pooka Nakula, who
went on IR today is going to miss at least
the next four games. Could be back for the Rams
after that. But that does tell you that Green Bay

feels that, Okay, maybe Love can be back a little
bit sooner if they're not considering putting him on short
term IR, which would have him out for four games.

I mean, Malik Willis last night, I just found it
not funny is the wrong word. But here he is
being told, hey, come in for the last hell Mary,
play the game, Like what an odd spot to just
be like, dude, you're in like that. That's an interesting
spot to come in and it's sort of an unfortunate
play for Jordan Love to get hurt on, you know,

fun to watch those.

past year. But when it comes to familiarity, no one's

mainstream stations may have played one or two Kendrick l

my way to get tickets to his shows. Right, so,

I've seen the hype. I believe the hype. I want
to make that point. But how many people casual friends
of yours could sing along to? How many songs do

tell you what, from first tand knowledge, there's a lot
of root and tootin dudes out there that sure as
hell don't know more than two songs from Kendrick Lamar

and their big time NFL fans. Yeah, you think they
know those songs, I don't think so. And if they
don't know those songs, I don't think their wives know
those songs. Maybe their kids know those songs. But you're
really you're really avoiding a mainstream opportunity. Now, you could
flip it and say, well, that's really cool. It's cool
to see them give in this opportunity to a Kendrick

Lamar because he should be more of a mainstream artist,
because he's that good enough talented. That's fine, but you're
gonna get backlash because there's gonna be a lot of
people that don't know him on a mainstream.

I think that if you go any genre, in my opinion,
if you go any genre and the artist has a
completely crossover to the mainstream, it's not a super Bowl
halftime act until they really established, like Danny g I'm

I'm just saying you could say the same if you said, hey,
rich Luke Bryan's doing it, or you know Morgan Wallen,

that Park Lincoln Park. Metallica bands like that, why you

in LA, he was fifth of the five people that appeared.
Like if you for popularity reasons, Dre Snoop Eminem, and

fifty Cent would all be bigger draws at a super
Bowl than Kendrick Lamar was when he appeared. Now, he
may have gotten tons of love from that generation, but
there's when you want to talk about the names and
the people, and like, that's what we're talking about. In
that group of people, I would say generally he was
number five in terms of popularity at a super Bowl

just three years ago. Now we're putting him number one.

People who live in third world countries would recognize Snoop

I bet you this is one of the more popular acts.

But especially if you watch Hard Knocks when they do
the talent shows and they have these like you know,

to get from the Cavino and Richho here is yeah,
we're surprised, but be open to it. You don't have
to hate everything. And that's what I'm getting sick of,

some positivity with that Raiders defensive line. That front seven
looks awesome the way we figured it would. Christian Wilkins
was a really good addition with Max Crosby now Alt
and the Chargers oh line. They did a good job

pretty much protecting Herbert, although Herbert didn't have a good
day because the Raiders defense, at least their pass defense
really really good. Their run defense something to be uh,
some improvement desired there.

But so you're saying your run defense is a little suspect,
so good thing again, good thing you're playing the Ravens
next week in the fourth quarter, if you want to
put a positive spin on it, like you exposed these
problems early, so you know what to work well.

Also, also the Raiders and Minshew had some turnovers which stunk,
but that kept the defense out there too long. In
the fourth quarter, they started to have some breaks in
that run defense and the Chargers and Dobbins went off
there at the end of the game, and then you
saw the two teams get into it in the end
zone with that little what do you call it, a scrum,

little tussle that was fun to watch as a Raider
slash Charger, you know, viewer. And in the stands there
you saw it was sixty f five percent Raider fans,

do know is that the country is a big place.
And we've been broadcasting nationally for over twenty years now,
Covino and Rich, We've met people from all over the country,
all kinds of people, all walks a lot, And I'll
tell you what, from first tand knowledge, there's a lot
of root and tootin dudes out there that sure as
hell don't know more than two songs from Kendrick Lamar

and their big time NFL fans. Yeah, you think they
know those songs, I don't think so. And if they
don't know those songs, I don't think their wives know
those songs. Maybe their kids know those songs. But you're
really you're really avoiding a mainstream opportunity. Now, you could
flip it and say, well, that's really cool. It's cool
to see them give in this opportunity to a Kendrick
(29:06):
Lamar because he should be more of a mainstream artist,
because he's that good enough talented. That's fine, but you're
gonna get backlash because there's gonna be a lot of
people that don't know him on a mainstream.

Level like that.

I think that if you go any genre, in my opinion,
if you go any genre and the artist has a
completely crossover to the mainstream, it's not a super Bowl
halftime act until they really established, like Danny g I'm
not saying it because it's hip hop.

I'm just saying you could say the same if you said, hey,
rich Luke Bryan's doing it, or you know Morgan Wallen,
where you said, hey you, Robbie, Lincoln Park is back. Yeah,
what if you said, oh, dude, Shine Down's gonna do it,
I'd say I'd say, you know what, I would say
that Park Lincoln Park. Metallica bands like that, why you
know best example boy Zue.

I've seen them live once and they were amazing live.

I think it's all about the performance if they are.

And I compliment you. You're one of the most knowledgeable music
friends I have. And I think you're letting it jade

about these artists.

on this because there's two things. Number One, assists from

Kendrick Lamar has. Ryan one of our top producers here

That's the point that I was going to say was
that it's the old saying of he's your favorite rapper's
favorite rapper. That's what I think you could say about
Kendrick Lament's a good point, right, And when you look
back at the super Bowl halftime show that you had
in LA, he was fifth of the five people that appeared.
Like if you for popularity reasons, Dre Snoop Eminem, and

fifty Cent would all be bigger draws at a super
Bowl than Kendrick Lamar was when he appeared. Now, he
may have gotten tons of love from that generation, but
there's when you want to talk about the names and
the people, and like, that's what we're talking about. In
that group of people, I would say generally he was
number five in terms of popularity at a super Bowl

just three years ago. Now we're putting him number one.

People who live in third world countries would recognize Snoop
Dogg in a second.

Yeah. But you know what, here's an interesting thought.

If you ask the one hundred and six players that
are playing in Super Bowl fifty whatever in New Orleans,
I bet you this is one of the more popular acts.
I bet you all the players because they're young dudes
in the loop.

You think they cared about You think they cared about
the who you know? Like, no, not at all.
Speaker 2 (32:54):
But especially if you watch Hard Knocks when they do
the talent shows and they have these like you know,
these white dudes dot appen or whatever, you'll never feel
older because you don't know the words you're watching. It's like, man,
everybody knows this.

But you're also assuming that everybody watching his super Bowl
is like thirty and under.

That's not the case.

advice to them is be open to it. And I
want to be consistent, and I'll say, even if you're
on the fence like we are about Kendrick Lamar or
about this performance, as you said, we should all be
open to it. Of course, I'm just surprised by it,

but I think the feeling and sentiment I want you
to get from the Cavino and Richho here is yeah,
we're surprised, but be open to it. You don't have
to hate everything. And that's what I'm getting sick of,
every hate and everything.
