(00:47):
tire buying should be. And coming up, we do it
every football season. Things that make you go h we'll
do that coming up in a little bit. Can you
believe we're doing that again?

Speaker 1 (00:55):
I know.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
And there's some great games tonight. I wish i'd just
say one game that you really concerned about you talking
about the Yankees or something. Yeah, he Jason Demingiz is back. Oh, Caviino,
that is rich and we be rocking out. Let's go well, hey,
we're gonna start with what we think is the biggest
observation from Week one of the NFL. But we are
in Chicago. We did some stuff for iHeart and Fox

(01:16):
Sports Radio. We spoke on a panel, which is uh
so funny because well, I don't feel like we're the
type of guys that speak on panels.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
No, it's not that.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
It's everybody pretends to be an adult because they're in
professional mode, right. Our profession is to have fun. We're
on the radio, we're talking to sports. Sports is fun.
Everyone else is, you know, they're playing a part. So
it's like, yo, loosen up, everybody, this is fun. But
everyone's so buttoned up and like, oh, I'm here for
the big convention and everything.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
And it's like it's fun. It's a fun time.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
So we had a fun time here in Chicago, met
some cool people and now we're doing this but everyone's
super pumped out here about well the win that the
Bear sort of got lucky with in my opinion, yesterday,
and that's one of my takeaways I want to go
over somebody's quarterbacks that people are so high on. It's like, hey,
should everyone be that pumped about their performance? And we're

(02:05):
gonna get you involved to at eight seven, seven ninety
nine on Fox most interactive, most inclusive show on radio begins,
it's football time. We want to know your thoughts, things
that made you go h We're gonna go over that.
But those are someone might take aways right off the bat.
It's like, Wow, all these new quarterbacks, what are they
gonna bring so much excitement? And there's some excitement here
in Chicago, but not necessarily because of Caleb Williams' performance,

(02:28):
but because they snuck one out.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
Well that's the thing.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
It's just a lesson in life if you could get
away with one and still come out on top. It's
almost like, yeah, it's like the fact that Caleb Williams
played like dog poo and meanwhile, Bears walking away one
to zero and no one roots for injuries. But we're
gonna get to Jordan Love. So the Bears are looking
at their division. Detroit had a big win last night,
but they're looking at you know, arguably, you know, one

(02:54):
of the teams in the division that would be a
hassle and a hoff the Packers own one.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
With a quarterback injury.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
But let's welcome Danny G to the show, our super
producer back in La.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
What's up, Danny G. Yeah, Happy Monday, Danny. Everyone in Danny,
how happy are you? Let's be honest about this. He's
a Raiders fan, So yeah, I'm doing okay today. I
had a good Sunday.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
You know, every time the Raiders are close and don't
quite win, I'm always like, man, poor Danny G.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
I mean, it's the curse of a five hundred team.
It used to be that the Raiders had a great
offense and a crappy defense. Now they have a great
defense and an offense that, I guess, to be nice,
that you could say is out of sync.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
Well good look.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
Not to state the obvious, but Rich and I were
talking about this on our flight to Chicago. Football is
all about adjustments. I know I'm staying the obvious, but
it's all about videotape. They got to go back. It's
a matter of the smarts and the brains behind it all,
what people are able to adjust and the improvements you're
able to make. So you can't count anybody out yet

(03:56):
we just have to see how different they could play
next week. Absolutely, and then why they go over this
over and over again. I want you Dan Byer or
Fats running the boards. I want everyone to think of
their biggest takeaway from week one of the NFL, because
I'm gonna hit you with my right out the gate,
and that is hold ontle. Something I'm calling not so fast.
We have zero patients as a society. As Ronnie Chen,

(04:19):
one of your favorite comedians, does that bit Prime now
Prime now, Yeah, overnight Prime isn't even good enough anymore.
You want it day up, We want it the second
you hit that button prime Now. If you order something
on Amazon and it says it's going to take a
couple of days, your instinct was like, well let me
let me keep looking a day.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
Yeah before I'm like, refreshed, where is the email? I
want it now.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
Everyone's patience level is zero. So I want to bring
up two guys that I think perhaps we judged a
little too soon. And the first guy you say, we
maybe you will will decide please eight seven seven ninety
nine out Fox if you want to get involved, Like
I said, the collective, we one of those guys and
I'm not saying I'm a genius, but Danny g You

(05:06):
and I we were talking about this guy, and I
remember it was I was Sam last week that said
no way, I said, Sam, Darnold. We keep judging him
based on garbage teams. He was thrown at the Jets,
the Panthers, then he lands on the Niners and he's
a respectable backup, and you you felt like if he
played instead of Rock Party, that team still even thought
about it. He We never said he's stunk. He was

(05:29):
just in a bad situation. Yeah, I'm not trying to
downplay Rich's point at all. It's not like he was
lighting it up and we were like, yoh man, he's
the greatest ever. That's not my point either. I just
don't think he was ever in position. I don't think
we ever truly blamed it on him because he was
in a bad situation.

Speaker 1 (05:47):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
People were very quick to be like Sam Donald must
usc quarterbacks.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
And he did go.

Speaker 4 (05:52):
He did get caught in a hot mic saying I'm
seeing ghosts getting blasted in a game like that's pretty damning.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
Seeing go it's a good one. Maybe she bound ghost Hunters.

Speaker 5 (06:03):
I also though one team was he on when that happened.

Speaker 4 (06:05):
Yeah, well also too. As we were rushing to praise
Sam Darnold today, let's not forget the team he just
tore apart too. Might be one of the two were
one of the two worst teams in the National Football League.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
The only thing worse than the Giants play on the
field was their uniforms.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
It's the only thing worse.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
The only highlight from the Giants game was the perfect
stubble from Daniel Jones. I have to say it was
an improvement. His beard looked great. That's the only nice
thing I could possibly say about the show. You're you're
fishing so much as say something nice about the Giants
that the only thing you could come up with is
Daniel Jones looked hand And some.

Speaker 1 (06:41):
Want to focus on the positives.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
There was some still you see him there in frustration,
but in that frustration he had like perfect stubble. He
must have a new beer trimmer or something. And that
was the only positive. Because those uniforms are terrible. I
don't care if they're throwback their throwbacks to terrible thrown
back at the trash and and they they match the
team because they're playing terrible.

Speaker 6 (07:00):
What do you think about Well, Number one, I think
that Chris Perfetts should stop trying to take you off
your high of Sam Donald. I mean it's one let
him ride, per fet I mean, who knows how long
this magic carpet ride's gonna go. It's like, like, seriously,
I thought the Giants could win the game, So perfect
example there, Donald proves a lot of us wrong. I
think the Cowboys domination of I don't know if the

(07:22):
DAK contract guys trickled down to the team, but this
was a team that I was not expecting a lot from.
I didn't love their running game, and to go out
and just give it to the Browns, who I knew
were a bit shorthanded on the offensive line, but still
they've had a decent offensive line through you know, throughout
the years. But when you're short tackles, that hurts. But
just from start to finish, just taking it to Cleveland

(07:45):
Dallas arriving in week one.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
Well that's the thing. It's hard to figure out, like
on any level. Let me be clear on this. Like
I went to my daughter's high school game on Friday.
She's a cheerleader, right, and I'm like her team's not bad.
But for all I know, the team they're playing stick.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
What do I know? Right?

Speaker 2 (08:01):
So you could say, hey, the Cowboys they look pretty solid,
Dak Prescott plays out, but for all we know, the
Browns really aren't that good.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
Let me just we don't know yet, but let me
just make a point ahead.

Speaker 6 (08:13):
I was just gonna say, just because it was my thing, rich,
at least the Cowboys weren't the Browns, right, Let's give
them credit for that and going out there and not
laying a stinker like Cleveland did.

Speaker 1 (08:22):
Agreed, it could go either way, right, and at least
they're playing good.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
But let's keep in mind, a lot of the games
we're talking about, guys, are This is why Vegas, this
is why you know, casino owners and sports books are
swimming in their gold coins like Scooge McDuck today because
that Dallas Cowboys game.

Speaker 1 (08:38):
They were two and a half point underdogs to Cleveland.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
So let's not make it seem like, you know, Cleveland
is trash and we expected this. Dan Buyer said it best.
We were like, man, Dak's getting the contract. I don't
know what's gonna happen here. They put a whooping on
the Browns, and then you talk about the Giants and
the uniforms and everything about them stunk except Daniel John Stubble.
That's the only thing. They were one point underdogs. That
was essentially a pick them. So it's not like the

(09:02):
world said, man, the Vikings are gonna, you know, lay
the shmack down. So these are all close games. In fact,
nothing really went as planned yesterday. And by the way,
I gotta ask Dan Byer because he's he's obsessed with
uniforms and helmets and he's the guru there. I kept
hearing on TV the sweet throwback uniforms. We all agree
they're terrible, right, Because I'm like, what are you talking about?

(09:25):
Those Giants throwbacks were terrible, right.

Speaker 6 (09:27):
Yeah, they looked they looked like the Montreal Canadians.

Speaker 5 (09:31):
They surely did. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
You know, because I'm sitting there and I keep hearing
the sweet throwbacks, I'm like, are ain't joking me? Get
out of here with that. But then because for a minute,
I was like, am I grumpy old guy? Because I
saw Mike Francessa from you know back in the day. Yeah, Van,
he was going on a rant about all those uniforms, like, oh, am.
I am I grumpy old guy. I hope on them
because I thought they were all, yeah, okay, all right,
just look. And I don't want to get you off
track blame for fet Rich because I know you were

(09:54):
making a point and that was Sam Darnold. Maybe we
wrote them off. Or maybe he was good all along
and just in a bad situation. That's what I'm getting at.
Maybe he's just playing week competition, but he played well.
If you're gonna take the Dan Byer angle of being positive, hey,
it could have went the other way and he played good.
I'm not saying not saying Sam Donald's Patrick Mahomes or

(10:14):
Josh Allen or you know, Lamar Jackson. But Sam Donald
could be. It could be a guy that makes a
playoff run. This Minnesota team has a lot of talent.
They're well coached. I think we're very quick to say
that this team is not great. And the other guy,
when I said my theme is not so fast, I
know you could say, well, yeah, of course last year
he brought him to the playoffs. But Baker Mayfield, we forget.

(10:37):
We were so high on this guy when he was
with the Browns. Hey, he took the Browns to the playoffs.
After all those seasons of like no wins, one win,
two wins, one win, Baker Mayfield took that team to
the playoffs, and then they were quick to be like yo, later, dude,
we got de Shan Watson, and the world sort of
was like, Baker Mayfield kick him in the garbage can.
He had that moment with the Rams. The Bucks picked

(10:59):
him up last year. He had a great year in
a mediocre division, so we gave that a little you know,
we e equated that a little bit where I well,
it was a bed division and the Bucks made the playoffs.
But yesterday, Dan Bayer, you and I I know, we
were very high on Jayden Daniels and I couldn't even
get Washington to cover ten points in a teaser bet.

Speaker 1 (11:18):
You know, I got thought zero touchdowns. That's part of
my takeaway.

Speaker 2 (11:22):
A lot of these blend together because again, my biggest takeaway,
like I said, are these young quarterbacks who really didn't
deliver much. But let's focus on your guy, Baker Mayfield
two hundred and eighty nine yards, four tuddies again, just
hitting Mike Evans, real nice, perfect leadership, perfect passing. We
forget not only the abilities but the vibe and swaging

(11:43):
attitude he brought to Cleveland, that's trickled down into Tampa Bay.
Now man, and that's fun to watch.

Speaker 1 (11:49):
Dude.

Speaker 2 (11:49):
I think he's a lot better than we gave him
credit for. He's twenty nine. Sam Donald's twenty seven. That
quarterback class of twenty eighteen, he was the Sam Donald
was the third pick. Baker, as you know, was the first.
We're very quick to be like, these guys are done.
They're in their twenties. They're in their twenties. They're young men.

Speaker 1 (12:08):
Young men in life on a field. He's like forty five. Yeah, yeah,
I mean they were their twenties.

Speaker 2 (12:14):
I mean, these guys are twenties. These guys don't have
gray hair in their stubble. He's in a perfect pocket
of he's experienced now. So really looked impressive. But then again,
how good are the commanders?

Speaker 5 (12:27):
Right?

Speaker 1 (12:27):
We don't know yet, but they dominated.

Speaker 2 (12:29):
But he said twenty it really is, guys, Let's take
it back to the basics here. We don't know how
good these teams are. This is the first week we're
breaking it down. What they do now is they go
back and they go over videotape, They make adjustments, and
we see the ability in the teams to make those adjustments.

Speaker 1 (12:46):
That's what we really see next week. Listen, I.

Speaker 2 (12:50):
Really do feel I don't feel like a fool, but
I'll leave it that I feel like a fool. I'll
tell you why, because I feel that Thursday and Friday game, Danny,
just for fun, we talked about those teaser bets I
did where I was like, all right, give the oderdog
points and we'll we'll take the overs and right and
and we won. I was owing three yesterday on my
tics that I did on Friday, and I'm men enough

(13:11):
to admit and I'm not the guy that's trying to
forget that. It happens every every parlay or teaser better
anything I did had one leg that I was like,
what like sincintivemember I was, so, I was like, Cincinnati
cheezer bet, you just need them to wish.

Speaker 1 (13:24):
If I'm not mistaken, he said, that's the luck of
the week, you know.

Speaker 3 (13:28):
He called, that's when you know the NFL season is back.
That's what Josh Hart of the Knicks tweeted out.

Speaker 2 (13:33):
I lost that Josh Hart that there's never been a
more relatable tweet than Josh harden Nicks when he did
tweet out the NFL's back you know how, I know
not one of my parlays hit NFL humbles. You like,
like the Iron chic, you think you will humble. It's
like the real world. You think you have, you think
you know, but you have no idea. You have no idea.

Speaker 5 (13:51):
I don't.

Speaker 1 (13:51):
I know.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
We have a lot of things we're gonna get to with,
things that made you go hmmm, yeah. But I want
to throw one in now because we're talking about these
young you know, younger quarterback again, the younger guy, like
the youngest guys like the like the uh Caleb Williams
of the world and the Jaden Daniels. How about a
veteran that I really believed in that so far, I know,

(14:14):
it's one game. What was going on with Atlanta? I
thought Atlanta. I thought Kirk Cousins was gonna go in there.
That was That was the game. My game looked rusty,
you know again, coming back off of an injury, we don't.

Speaker 5 (14:26):
Know, looked like rich.

Speaker 3 (14:28):
It looked like a preseason game for the Falcons and
they were home. There were a couple of teams where
it looked like it was their final preseason game.

Speaker 1 (14:35):
I had this feeling of before the game.

Speaker 2 (14:38):
Listen all week and people have been clowning on the
Steelers like this is the year it falls apart. Tom Wins,
you know over five hundred streak. You know Russ, Wait,
he's not playing it, Oh, justin Field is in. Russ
was suited up though, and I heard his shoulder pads.
I heard someone say, it's the most rouss thing it
for a guy, you know, mister unlimited dangerous. He's very
very mister the most Ross Wilson thing ever is to

(15:01):
suit up with your shoulder pins on when you're on
the ineligible to playlist. I know he got a hate on,
but but I like it. He shows he's still ready mentally,
like he's still in. He's still his shoulder pads.

Speaker 1 (15:14):
I see. But he was.

Speaker 2 (15:15):
He was a good hype man after it was like
Flavor flav. He was hyping the team up. I appreciate what.

Speaker 1 (15:19):
Just shows you.

Speaker 2 (15:19):
A week one of the NFL, we're all confused because
in my mind I thought, well, Atlanta at home against Pittsburgh.

Speaker 1 (15:27):
Sweet, I'll put this money. I'll do him even moneyline
forget the four points.

Speaker 2 (15:31):
And he takes some accountability. We went over our locks
of the week. I thought that was the George Foreman guarantee.
Guarantee I did because I was so pumped about cousins.
There new leadership, let's do it. I have so many
question marks in Pittsburgh. And you know, it even came
down to the day before. You know, Russell Wilson's not playing.
I was like, yeah, Man, definitely go with Atlanta. And
I was wrong, but I do nobody knew Man. There's

(15:54):
so many surprises. You and I talk every year about
how don't thought the Patriots were gonna win? Yes, Yo,
congrats to Mayo. We say this every year. Monday shows
are the most fun, but they're also hectic because your
brain is going a million miles an hour. That's why
I want you to slow it down and take a
deep breath. That's why take it one step at a time.

Speaker 3 (16:13):
Rich That's why it was supposed to be one big
point in the open and then in the second segment
things that make you go.

Speaker 2 (16:18):
Exactly, I can't help myself at a one big point,
and I'm trying to make it clear of Danny G.
Dan Beyer profession Fox Sports Radio Nation Take a deep breath.
What Rich is saying here is not so fast on guys.
We we meaning Rich rode off Baker Mayfield twenty nine
years old, lighten it up, then again at the Commander's

(16:39):
that good?

Speaker 1 (16:40):
They didn't look that good. But he looked great.

Speaker 2 (16:43):
Sam Darnold twenty seven years old looked great. He looked
really good. Did we write him off? Was he just
always in a bad situation? Was he always pretty good?
Now we're just starting to see that, Hey, he had
a good game. Let's look at the positive here. Not
so fast on writing certain people off, which is why
we're not going to write off these other young quarterbacks.
But you can't help but notice that a lot of

(17:03):
the names that we were super hyped about really didn't
deliver much on their first game. And of course, look
first game, jitters. Who the heck knows?

Speaker 1 (17:11):
People are moving a hell of a lot faster in
the NFL.

Speaker 2 (17:14):
There's so many reasons as to maybe why it's too early,
but we have to make those observations. I've taken a
deep breath, all right, good, But what did a Rick
James say back in the day.

Speaker 1 (17:24):
I'm sorry, Charlie Murphy, I'm having too much one there.
I'm just man, I don't.

Speaker 2 (17:30):
Drug said as he did, but I'm telling you there's
so many observations and this is where you guys chime
in the number eight seven, seven, nine to nine on
Fox Covino and Richard doing the show live in Chicago today,
And like I said, we spoke at a Fox Sports
radio iHeart convention earlier.

Speaker 1 (17:46):
It's great.

Speaker 2 (17:47):
Yeah, you know, Danny, it just proves the point we
said this last week. It's wild how football Your mood
the next day is a complete reflection. This was a
room of people that had smiles on their faces.

Speaker 1 (18:00):
And I even said it.

Speaker 2 (18:00):
I was like, you guys would all be mad right
now if there bears their cups beat the Yankees yesterday
and their bears pulled one out, good for them. You
think they care about the coffee your Yankees yesterday?

Speaker 1 (18:14):
Yeah they're out of the playoff mix. But still Williams
about a series.

Speaker 2 (18:19):
They got a nice little win out of it, but
their offense didn't score it all.

Speaker 1 (18:23):
That's a big, big takeaway. And look, Kayleb.

Speaker 2 (18:26):
Williams was the first to take accountability and say, oh
I got to play better.

Speaker 1 (18:29):
I'll be better. I'm just glad we pulled one out,
and we said all the right things.

Speaker 2 (18:32):
He said all the right things, Danny G I think
you'll back me up on this. If you watched Hard Knocks,
you learn to appreciate I mean, that's the point of
this show where you get to know the players better.
But you see a different side of Kayleb Williams, and
I like the guy, so I'm rooting for him personally. Yeah,
and I think he said all the right things. At
the end of the game. You just pumped the team
one and he pulled one out. But that's definitely one

(18:53):
of my takeaways rich these younger guys, I'm not sure
who had the worst day, Caleb will.

Speaker 1 (18:58):
Caleb Williams.

Speaker 3 (18:59):
Not only do get an appreciation for Kayleb Williams behind
the scenes, but the general manager of Chicago Ryan Poles,
very likable dude. And so for that reason I was
sharing on the Chicago Bears yesterday.

Speaker 2 (19:11):
Yeah, Caleb Williams for his hyped as he is and
everything he comes with. You would think there's a sense
of arrogance about him, and there's not, and that's refreshing.

Speaker 1 (19:21):
I like that about him. I know, go ahead, Dan, Yeah, I.

Speaker 6 (19:25):
Was just going to say You know what's interesting with
the conversation you guys have is what you are saying
also has to do with a lot of quarterbacks that
we aren't talking about right now. So maybe don't give
up on Mac Jones, don't give up on Zach Wilson.
They're not in the spotlight right now because they're backups
in other places. But for the sake of what you're
saying with these, you know, with the reformation projects like

(19:48):
Sam Darnold, who's to say that. You know, those quarterbacks
you know can't revive their career and go on a
spot and actually succeed. So we're not great I'm talking
about them now, but they're going to be around and
maybe they turn the page because Mike Quarterback is I
think the poster child for that and Gino Smith? Right,
how many people never liked Gino Smith and then all
of a sudden yesterday thirty four yard touchdown run.

Speaker 5 (20:09):
You know it may not be the top quarterback of his.

Speaker 1 (20:11):
Career, right that his career high. That was nice.

Speaker 6 (20:14):
Yeah, So I think that there's a lot of quarterbacks
that you guys are talking about that that you know,
can fit into this group that maybe just aren't even
on the surface, right.

Speaker 2 (20:21):
You know what, Dan Byern, it's a great point and
it goes even deeper than that because it applies to life.
You know, maybe the scene, the city you're in right
now just isn't working for you. We said that about
our producer Spot for years, Spot who's on our videos
at Covino and Rich were like, if he just grew
up in another city, he'd be.

Speaker 1 (20:37):
Slaining it with the ladies.

Speaker 2 (20:39):
You know what I maybe I don't think Spot didn't
touch a woman his whole you know what, I mean,
this whole teenage twenty years because he was the inspiring
story here is and again Gino Smith is the perfect examples.
Maybe you're just not in the right city that's vibing
with you, and there's hope for everybody.

Speaker 2 (20:58):
Dare I say, Trey Lance, maybe in a couple of
years there's guys that are still so young. Yeah, you
can't run and if you were touted as a first
round draft pick. You can't tell me that everyone was
that wrong, right, I mean, so we shall see. But
your big observations from Week one of the NFL things
that made you go Hmmm, We'll get to that next

producing as we speak on the phones at eight seven,

(23:22):
seven ninety nine on Fox at Covino and Rich Prefet
on the ones and two's playing Owner of a Load
in the Heart and again it's.

Speaker 1 (23:29):
Good to be in Chicago. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (23:31):
And by the way, it should be uh if you're
gonna mention the movie and I'm gonna mention the breakup
with Vince Vaughan.

Speaker 1 (23:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
The only thing that I watched this weekend other than football,
Bad Monkey on Apple TV. Best show. You gotta get
on board. Everybody's saying it's great, it's fantastic. I hate
like taking your advice on shows though, because you choose.

Speaker 1 (23:50):
Don't take my advice on parlays, take my advice on
show us.

Speaker 2 (23:54):
All right, all right, So again the numbers, eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox, Covino and Rich going to
the phones to say what's up. It's a segment that
we've been calling for years now. Yeah, for real things
that made you go hmmm.

Speaker 1 (24:11):
Things that make you go, things that make your goal.
There's no right or wrong here.

Speaker 2 (24:19):
It's your observations from your opening weekend of the NFL,
your obvious servations, maybe thoughts, on tonight's game whatever. We're
gonna talk about that later for sure, but any of
your takeaways, Rich sort of kicked it off with, hey,
not so fast on some of these guys. We didn't
really care that much about Baker and Darnold. But your

(24:40):
other observations, let's share them now.

Speaker 1 (24:41):
Again.

Speaker 2 (24:42):
Relyve from the tyraq dot com studio and this show
sponsored by DraftKings. Stay tuned because you'll hear more about
DraftKings all that has to offer throughout the show. DraftKings,
the crown is yours. And remember, after the show, the
podcast goes up, So if you missed any of today's show,
be sure to check out Covino and Rich wherever you
stream your podcast, and be sure to follow, rate and review.
So Rich, I couldn't agree more with you with the

(25:04):
Baker and the Darnald stuff. Right, But again, are they
playing weak ass teams? We don't know yet. But the
other point I was trying to make when you were
talking about them is these young quarterbacks that were super
hyped on.

Speaker 1 (25:15):
I'm not gonna be prisoner.

Speaker 2 (25:16):
Of the moment and be like, oh man, see their
must they're not that good.

Speaker 1 (25:21):
That's not it at all. But you can't help. But
notice that.

Speaker 2 (25:24):
I mean, there's gonna be a growth period here, a
little bit of an adjustment, some growing pains. They didn't
look that great, your boy, Jayden Daniels, you and Dan Byer.
I have been talking about this dude for weeks. You know,
people have been high on Jaden Daniels. They'll figure it
out if you did watch that game. I did because
I had a teaser bet on Washington. There were moments

(25:47):
where you're like, all right, this kid's gonna be good.
It's gonna take a second now if you want to
tell me had good dance moves. He ran to win
and he was loving it and feeling it, and for
that I commend him, you know, the confidences there. But
he threw for zero touchdowns and team didn't look that great.
I think one of the things that maybe go this weekend.
Maybe it was less about the Patriots winning. Yeah, you

(26:10):
know sometimes as it like the more they were good
at the other team's beat. Like to me, the Bengals
offense couldn't get going at all. I get it, no
t Higgins, but Jamar Chase played and they scored zero points,
zero points in the first half.

Speaker 1 (26:24):
That game was ten to nothing at halftime.

Speaker 2 (26:26):
And I know historically, if you want to think back,
I'm pretty sure Joe Burrow has been known to have some.

Speaker 1 (26:34):
Slow starts, but this was pretty rough.

Speaker 2 (26:37):
When you know, back after an injury, people like Yo
Bengals back, a lot of people at Fox Sports Radio
picked him as a possible MVP candidate. That division's really competitive.
I don't think you could lose what looked on the
schedule to be a gimme game that was just a
major major When you look at that, that division is
going to be down to the finish between Lamar and

(26:59):
the Ravens, and you know, see if Cleveland turns it
around and Pittsburgh won, you can't look back and say, yeah,
Week one, we dropped one against the Patriots, who Vegas
had it what.

Speaker 1 (27:08):
Three or four wins over under.

Speaker 2 (27:10):
So that's Rich's big observation. But I was trying to
make the point of Jadeen Daniels again through for zero touchdowns,
bow knicks, zero touchdowns, two picks, one hundred and thirty
eight yards in a loss to Seattle. He had a
sweet move he ran one in I like that athleticism
he showed, right, you know he has it so again,
it's not doom and gloom. I don't give him dooms.

(27:30):
I give him all booms. But you know he didn't
look that great.

Speaker 1 (27:35):
Are you talking about that?

Speaker 2 (27:36):
When he stopped showing did little the spinning depth, the
little little spin move was nice.

Speaker 1 (27:39):
That was nice. That was a nice move. It really was.

Speaker 2 (27:42):
So again, these are all great players. We're gonna see
how they adjust. But these young guys Jayden Daniels, Bo Nicks,
Caleb Williams, what do you throw for? Ninety three yards?
Ninety three yards? Didn't throw any touchdowns. They're offense didn't
score a touchdown, so props to Tennessee. But you know,
Caleb Williams barely he barely pulled one out bone Nix.

(28:05):
Jaydon Daniels not saying oh, I'm just saying, hm, is
he gonna send will Levis an edible arrangement?

Speaker 1 (28:11):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (28:11):
And again this is things that made you go, hmmm,
you clearly help. But notice what these young dudes did yesterday.
Eyes were all over.

Speaker 3 (28:19):
Them really quick, emphasis on the word quick. You guys
have not mentioned the dolphins yet or the cheetah. And
he was driving a little too quick and then I
was wild. Yeah, it was so I don't want to
say funny, but it was amusing to see the memes
after the game. I I me at ten thirty am
and then him at you know, four thirty pm when

(28:39):
doing the handcuff celebration.

Speaker 1 (28:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (28:41):
I was gonna say the minute he did the handcuff celebration,
I'm like, oh, I could laugh about it because it
was a big deal and he was really like hurd
about it or there was more to it. Well, you
know what made me say hmm? And I think it
made the world say hmm. You saw it go viral immediately,
like we got arrested. That was the first thing then,
I know. But at first you're like, oh my god,
it was going on. It looked pretty aggressive, right, you.

Speaker 1 (29:02):
Know, he was detained, he made it to the game.

Speaker 2 (29:04):
Everyone want to know, you know, is he gonna play?
Is he gonna be in the game. Yes, he played
in the game and he played well. But what made
me say hm was how great he handled it. That
really made me say hm. At the end at the
press conference, I was like, you know what, he could
have went up there. I would have went up there,
I think and been like, you know, if these dudes,
you know embarrassing me like that. I'm trying to get

(29:25):
to the game that was. It looked uncalled for it.
You know, had every reason and right maybe to show
a little bit of attitude. I think I might you
don't like to be hassled or haggled. You think he
wanted to be hassled or haggled. So for him to
take that positive approach and to say he's going to
use his platform to bring this as as a learning moment,
together moment and make things right, I thought that was
pretty awesome.

Speaker 1 (29:46):
Yeah, a great look for Tyreek Kel.

Speaker 2 (29:48):
I will say my thought was, and I say this
knowing that you know, I'm.

Speaker 1 (29:53):
A big supporter of law enforcement.

Speaker 2 (29:55):
What Miami Cup is going to give Tyreek Hill a
hassle game day?

Speaker 1 (30:00):
And who is that guy? I mean that guy that
caught him? I mean I'm that guy. Do you see
the meme? It was Trevor Lawrence had a cop unifly
saw that.

Speaker 2 (30:08):
But to me, it's like, you know, what type of
a mile from the stadium, what type of cop is
boosting their chest out so much like I'm going to
be the guy that gives a hassle to the star.

Speaker 1 (30:18):
Player on the team that everyone here is going to.

Speaker 2 (30:20):
See But again, remember that guy that gave Scotty Scheffler
a hard time. Yeah, it's like crisis, there's opportunity, right,
And that was a great opportunity to bring the team together.
And he said that as well, like he realized how
good the team is when he saw the brotherhood there.
And I thought that was a major takeaway. And I
think they could really take that and run with it
pun intended and use that to their advantage, like use

(30:43):
that as a as a together moment as a team,
and really use that fire moving forward. So I think
they they faced immediate adversity and that could bring a
team to the next level.

Speaker 1 (30:55):
So props to the Dolphins. I think they're in a
good position.

Speaker 2 (30:57):
Well, Danny g you want to hit up the phones
for us back in Los Angeles.

Speaker 1 (31:01):
Things that made you go, hmm, who do we got.

Speaker 5 (31:03):
Let's start with Ken in Stockton, California.

Speaker 1 (31:06):
What's up Ken?

Speaker 9 (31:08):
They be non rich? Yeah, Buddy blil I got a
little grapes man. Detroit didn't beat Matthew Stafford. They beat
the Rams, right, they beat the defense man. Bring back
Aaron Donald And I know we're talking NFB. Guess what
take that Notre Dame, your twenty eight point favorite at home.

Speaker 1 (31:28):
Yeah, Donald was sleeping. You saw that.

Speaker 2 (31:30):
There's no chance to him coming back. His wife posted
a video last night like, yeah, there's no chance he's
not coming back.

Speaker 1 (31:37):
Give up on that. But that was a great game,
no doubt.

Speaker 2 (31:40):
And you know what the best part about that game
was at our flight from Los Angeles to Chicago was
the exact time of that game, and American Airlines had
it on the TV. You know what I wanted the
way to kill time. Rich looked over at me, he goes,
you're not watching the game. I didn't realize I had
access to the game on the plane.

Speaker 1 (31:59):
I was like, you.

Speaker 2 (32:00):
Waited to tell me in the fourth quarter you had
three You couldn't have nudged me to tell me. But
luckily I caught the game right at the end when
it got really exciting. Jiff Carry had extra mittens and
uh bextra gloves and dumb exactly like the whole You've
had these mittens the whole, the gloves.

Speaker 7 (32:14):
The whole time.

Speaker 1 (32:15):
Yeah, we're in the rocket. Rich was enjoying every game
the whole time.

Speaker 2 (32:18):
I was sitting there like what I didn't think we
had Wi Fi and you were staring at the window.

Speaker 1 (32:22):
I'm like, you know, it's the second half, you know.
I was just going through my pictures on the phone.
It's deleting things. I was just trying to kill time.

Speaker 2 (32:28):
Luckily I caught the game in the fourth quarter, and
I think he got two great teams there. I love
that rivalry. I love the sportsmanship. I thought that was
a really cool takeaway and a cool game to watch.
Great game for your Sunday night, Danny. Who else we got, Buddy,
Let's go to JP and Idaho?

Speaker 1 (32:46):
Yokp what's up, man, pony?

Speaker 9 (32:49):
What's the best? I'm just looking at.

Speaker 5 (32:54):
The score from yesterday's Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Speaker 1 (32:57):
Game and speaker Mayfield to watch out for.

Speaker 2 (33:00):
Don't you think he looks good? Man, He looks poised,
He plays well with his team. He's earned the look.
Think about this too. I was thinking about this. These
are our takeaways, right, things that made you go hmmm.
I mean, he's been there for a few years now,
but I remember whose shoes he had to fill and
who he had to gain respect of. You know, guys
like Mike Evans were catching touchdowns from Tom Brady, So

(33:22):
for him, to gain their confidence think of how good
he really must be. Yeah, it's like dating a girl
and her ex was.

Speaker 1 (33:29):
Like a stud. Yeah, you really gotta step up.

Speaker 2 (33:33):
Let's go to Dan Buyer for an update and then
we'll take more of your observations the things that made
you go, what's up, Dan Rich?

Speaker 6 (33:39):
Did you just think Cavino is raw dogging the flight?
They just you know, gonna sit there, no music, no nothing,
gonna sit there through the whole thing.

Speaker 2 (33:46):
By the way, is a trend then bio where people
on a flight do nothing and they call it raw
dog in the flight And I'm.

Speaker 1 (33:51):
Like, yo, this guy, why are you not watching the game,
And he's like, we have the game.

Speaker 2 (33:54):
I'm like, yeah, so happy, so happy I caught the
fourth quarter and overtime because that was the exciting ending.

Speaker 7 (34:00):
Man.

Speaker 6 (34:01):
That trend is the only reason why I think I
can say raw dogging on the air.

Speaker 5 (34:05):
That's why.

Speaker 6 (34:06):
That's that's why Jets Niners tonight to wrap up Week one.
There's more news around the NFL. Green Bay Packers said
coach Matt Lafleur wouldn't rule out Jordan Love for their
Week two matchup against the Colts, but said Malik Willis
would start if Love misses the game with his knee injury. This, yeah, this, well,
take it with a grain of salt. This is Matt
Lafleur earlier today.

Speaker 10 (34:25):
I felt a little confident that he was since he
was moving and he said obviously he was in pain.
But I wasn't going to even go there in my
mind until I knew one way or the other. And
thankfully we got some relatively good news.

Speaker 5 (34:40):
So relatively good news.

Speaker 2 (34:42):
It sounds like they're taking precaution because we all read
three to six weeks.

Speaker 1 (34:46):
But Katy, maybe it's not that bad.

Speaker 5 (34:48):
I would be surprised if he played. We'll just put
it that way.

Speaker 6 (34:51):
But I think, you know, any NFL injury, you're not
gonna jump to conclusions. And I think that's where the
Packers are at this point during the week. They don't
have to put it on an inch re report until Wednesday,
which is something that John Harball pointed out when people
asked why Lamar Jackson missed practice today. So we have
no idea why the Ravens quarterback was not at practice,
but likely to find out more on Wednesday. Bill's quarterback

(35:11):
Josh Allen will start Thursday night. In Miami despite suffering
a left hand injury in there win over the Cardinals.
News in on Pookinakua, the Rams wide receiver is going
to be placed on short term IR because of a
PCL injury in his knee suffered in that loss to
the Lions last night. He'll miss at least the next
four games of the season, and for as great as
yesterday was for the Buccaneers, NFL in center Jordan Schultz

(35:32):
reports at All Pro safety Antwine Winfield Junior is going
to miss multiple weeks with foot and ankle injuries suffered
in yesterday's win over the Commanders. Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson
facing another civil suit from a woman who claims he
sexually assaulted her on a date in twenty twenty. What Yeah,
some baseball news Yankees called up outfielder Jason Dominguez from
the Miners and former met at Cranepool.

Speaker 5 (35:53):
Passed away yesterday at the age of seventy nine. Guys,
back to.

Speaker 2 (35:57):
You and same with James Earl Jones. Right, we're getting
a lot of saying the rest in peace. James Earld Jones.

Speaker 5 (36:03):
Ninety three m.

Speaker 1 (36:05):
Thank you, Dan Byer.

Speaker 2 (36:06):
Listen more things that make you go hmmm, because there's
other teams who haven't even touched on yet. Remember the
team I said it was the worst in the league. Yeah,
they put up forty seven points yesterday. So are the
Saints that bad? Or I'm sorry, are the Panthers that bad?
Or are the Saints decent? Like again you said, Caveno adjustments.

Speaker 1 (36:24):
We don't know yet.

Speaker 2 (36:25):
I do want to talk some Cardinals and of course
tonight the return of Aaron Rodgers against my forty nine ers.
And to wrap up things, they made you go hmm,
I have the biggest ut. Oh who's the biggest uh Oh,

we're here in Chicago, lots to talk about. There's definitely
some fun buzz in the air because the Bears pulled
one out yesterday. There's a great game tonight we're pumped about.

Speaker 1 (39:35):
But just a.

Speaker 2 (39:35):
Beautiful day in the neighborhood. Beautiful day in Chicago. Rich
has free pop tarts. He's pumped about. I took a
sweet ass walker earlier today, Sunday flavor you want to try?

Speaker 1 (39:46):
Oh really no, I don't. Thanks, but sweet a.

Speaker 2 (39:49):
You't even ask me about my sweet add You know
what a sweet ass walk is?

Speaker 1 (39:52):
A sweet You'll get sweet asses down the street.

Speaker 2 (39:54):
That's exactly you took a nice walk. Look at all
the sweet asses. It's nice sweet ass walls. So I
had a nice one, man, And so it's a good
time to be alive. You got football, you got baseball
heating up, and you got a great game tonight. But
my other takeaway, I'm trying to stay positive. That's the
point here, because of course I'm not doom and gloom.
I don't want to be dooming gloom. It's too early
to be doom and gloom. Don't buy into all the

(40:16):
hype and everyone saying these guys sucking it's over.

Speaker 1 (40:20):
That's not what I'm saying.

Speaker 5 (40:21):
Wait.

Speaker 3 (40:21):
Wait, so Covino, You're not going to burn your Daniel
Jones jersey in the parking lot.

Speaker 1 (40:25):
Not just yet. Thank you, Danny G. Have you seen that? Yes,
that's exactly where I'm going.

Speaker 2 (40:31):
Danny G is super producing at eight seven, seven ninety
nine on Fox per fet on the Ones and Tuesdan Byer,
Remember I said some ut uhos things that made you go, hmmm.
Daniel Jones man just looking really, really bad, dude. He
has the big stat today, more pick sixes and touchdowns

(40:52):
after his multimillion dollar deal four years was one hundred
and sixty million. Yes, since that deal he signed. That
seems like a fake step. He has three pick sixes,
two touchdowns, but just looked bad, you know what I mean.
So that's a major oh for Giants fans. And you look,
we're from the East Coast. If you read social media,
all your friends are like, oh, it's so reason he sucks.

(41:15):
I think Daniel Jones shot showed a lot of potential
back in the day. I think it's one of those
situations where you can't write him off yet maybe he's
in a bad spot. And then you got to Seawan Watson,
the other dude who signed a ridiculous deal, and he's
playing terrible, like he's never played before. So again major
uh oh's there. It's like, Wow, they invested a lot
in Watson. He's not looking good at all. I mean,

(41:38):
they got dominated by the Cowboys and he looked like
he didn't know what was going on. Another quick thing
that made me go hmmm, again, it's one game. It's
hard to tell. Slow start. They won the game the
only true New York team, Buffalo Bills. They were down
what seventeen nothing seventeen three? Are the car Finals actually

(42:01):
going to be alright this year? That's That's something that
I think people are going to start to think, like, oh,
maybe maybe they got something going on in Arizona. Because
as we say, Josh Ear had to sacrifice his body
for that win, you know what I mean, Like he
put it all out there, so all your observations from
Week one of the NFL will take more feedback, and
I do want to focus on Jordan Love and the
Packers and Tom Brady the announcer. We're going to get

(42:22):
to all that next. Fox Sports Radio Covino and Rich
