(01:50):
second and third games of that series, they're saying, Mike
get rained out, which would throw the whole National League
playoff situation into a tizzy and our travels and our
travels because if they're not playing and there's hurricanes, how

Oh look who's up here letting the bugs in? That's
Iowa Samuel, he's back. And Dan Byer on the updates.
So we got an action pack show. Let's dive right in.
But no more, no more chit chat. I want to
talk baseball. I want to talk football. That chitchat chitchat's
your middle name, Dicky chitchat Davis, good one, bro, I
don't know anyone that chitchat's more. I you know what

(03:20):
I feel like I'm trying to side do. I want
to get you mad right away or wait a little bit.
Now you already got me mad. It's been a crazy day,
so I'm on edge. Anyway, I had to take an MRI,
which is miserable, and an ultrasound test all today be
a SoC player. Yeah, because I got in a car
accident last week. We discussed that I'm all good, but

(03:42):
when I got my initial X rays, they were a
little concerned. So I had these test schedule today and
I feel like so trained and tired after dealing with
all that. You'll say, I'm saying, if you're ready to rumble,
let's go.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
I'm already on edge.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
That's my point because I think you guys are smoking
the crack pipe. You're smoking the Otani kool aid. Is
he having an incredible season? Absolutely? Is he the greatest
player in baseball without a doubt? Is he having a
better season than Aaron Judge? Absolutely not. I mean this
guy said, is he the MVP?

Speaker 1 (04:16):
Not even close.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
This guy, if there was one MVP, is Aaron Judge.
This guy said smoking kool aid? He did get hit
on the head.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
Wow, you could smoke kool aid. I've seen people do.
Let me let me say this, I have it.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
I have what I think is the solution for baseball
because right now, you know what the boring reality is.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
Sho he Atani is your National League MVP.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
Congrats Otani, everybody, Altani your American League.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
MVP, Aaron Judge, m all rise.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
You know what would be fun if, like every other sport,
there were one MVP. This is the most archaic we
forgot to make the change thing in sports right now?
Is there an Eastern Conference MVP and a Western Conference
in the NBA?

Speaker 1 (05:02):
No? Is there an AFC and an NFC MVP?

Speaker 4 (05:06):
No?

Speaker 1 (05:06):
I mean, is it fair to compare the sports? I
don't know.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
When Inner League became a thing and remained a thing,
maybe we should have made that change, But.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
Not only when Inner League started happening. We made that change.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
Aaron Jholer, The Inner League did happen, but now it's
at the point where you don't even play your own
division as much, you equally play the teams in the league.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
There's no d H in the National League. I'm sorry.
There's there is a DH in the National League.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
And his name is Shoheo Tani and he's not even
playing in the field. So another reason why, Judge is
your MVP and he's having a better season, but there
is no difference now now. Traditionally, when our grandpappies were young,
National League and American League didn't play each other. I
don't need to remind you that, but that's just the facts.
That's why there were two Cy Young's two MVPs because

(05:56):
it was the American League, National League, and what made
the World Series so special was that they played one
time in the World Series, the best in the AL
versus the best in the NL. Well, you're getting ahead
of yourself because earlier today, Rich and I do a
Patreon every day join our Patreon Covino and Rich Monday
through Thursday.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
We chop it up.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
It's uncensored, and Rich just speaks nonsense, to be honest,
because we were talking about how great of a season
they're both having, and I'm like, yeah, but Judge is
having a better season.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
Wait a minute, guy says, how are you ferious about that?

Speaker 2 (06:30):
I'm gonna be like, like, I don't know, says every
stat except stolen ices and played appearance. I'm gonna be
like Trump's Lawyer show has had more plate appearances women
anew Is he doing something that's never been done before?

Speaker 1 (06:43):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (06:43):
But guess what, Aaron Judge beats him in every stat
except for stolen bases and played appearance. All right, so
is this a hate on show Hay conversation. Absolutely not.
This is let me smack you back to reality because
you're prisoner of the show Hay moment conversation. I love
what show he's doing for the game. In fact, I
read that jose Canseko walked so that show he could run.

(07:08):
Did you see he mistyped Otani's name show Hey Ohanty
I walk so Ohhanty could run. I am a big
fan of what show he's doing, so don't be misled.
But when you're telling me he's better than Judge, I'm
gonna have to debate you. Let me read a little
something and then give you the stats. This is something

(07:29):
I read on yankeefans dot com.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
I'll be back. I'll be back everybody.

Speaker 2 (07:36):
It's also it's also based on stats, you bonehass, completely unbiased.
This year, Aaron Judge is clearly having a stronger season
than show he Tani. Sure it's debatable, but let me
break it down. Wait, can I give you this article?
It's a it's I don't care where it's from. It's
based on the actual numbers they're producing. Okay, so full
O Tani primarily playing d H and he's not pitching.

(07:57):
If he was pitching and playing the field, there's no
question I would have a different conversation here. That's not
the case. He's missing out on a critical defensive contribution.
While though Tani's fifty to fifty season is very impressive,
never been done. Let's consider the current landscape. Stealing bases
is easier than ever. Bigger bases their pizza boxes, says

(08:18):
Rob park Gazy, longer sliding mits, restriction on pictures, pickoff moves.

Speaker 1 (08:25):
You gotta keep it in consideration, whether you believe it
or not.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
In contrast, judges all around game power, hitting, stellar defense,
and clutch performances make him the standout. And I quote,
it's not even close. And you could say yeah, because
you go from a Yankees blog, your big nerd well,
let me read you to stats. And when I say
you rich, I'm seeing the collective you who just want
to jump on the hype train.

Speaker 1 (08:48):
Article for you have an article.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
It's all the reasons Kamala Harris stinks and it's Trump
and it's from Trump Trump, Trump and megamagamaga, dot org
gate the stats you Gonberger's all right because you're sipping
on on the What on the saki be realistic, Aaron Judge.
He wins in war, he wins in games played?

Speaker 1 (09:08):
Does it to be saki?

Speaker 2 (09:09):
Hold on played appearances, plate appearances and hits is the
only thing in stolen bases is the only thing Otani
wins on and he barely has more hits.

Speaker 1 (09:18):
He has five more hits. Aaron Judge has more home
runs more RBI, how many more home runs?

Speaker 2 (09:23):
Batting it right now? Yeah, Otani has fifty three, Judge
has fifty five. Okay two, okay Aaron Judge. Aaron Judge
is batting three twenty three. Otani's betting three twenty one.
It's a twenty two point difference.

Speaker 1 (09:38):
Average doesn't have emphasis anymore.

Speaker 2 (09:40):
Judge has a higher ob OBP slugging percentage ops ops
plus Aaron Judge, and I'll say it.

Speaker 3 (09:48):
One more time, leads in every category, every single one,
except for plate appearances, hits, because Otani leads by like
five and stolen bases.

Speaker 2 (10:02):
You're gonna tell me based on that Otani, who's not
even playing the field, is the MVP or are you
just prisoner of the moment? Otani adds a layer of
speed that Judge does not. Judge leads in every category,
and he's playing a gold Gloves center field with a
cannon of an arm.

Speaker 1 (10:20):
Is he a gold Glover? Yes? This year, I would
think so. I don't know.

Speaker 2 (10:24):
I didn't vote. How can you debate that. I get
that you're excited about Otani. I get what he's doing
is incredibly impressive. But when you go stat for stat,
Judge is beating him in almost every stat. I don't
care at all. I'm a Mets fan. You're a Yankees fan, Danny.
Some of the guys here are Dodgers fan. That what
did you do? You rolled your eyes and tried to
make the joke on me. Oh, isn't it cute that

(10:47):
he thinks that? Where'd you get that from the Yankee block?

Speaker 1 (10:53):
Where did you get here? The silly boy?

Speaker 2 (10:55):
Silly boy? You mean the stats? You mean what the
stats say? So I ask you Fox Sports Radio Nation.
I gave you the stats. I hope that helps. I'm
not trying to be kind of says everything about stats. Yes,
because Judge is a monster, and Judge is playing both
sides of the field, Oh Tani is not. If this

(11:18):
was a regular old Tani season and he was pitching
or playing the field, no question, there would be even
more of a debate. There's no debate to even be had.
He had an impressive stat he joins an exclusive he
starts an exclusive club, he's the VIP of that exclusive
club fifty to fifty. But he's not leading in any
other important stat other than stolen bases.

Speaker 4 (11:39):
But let's start to stolen bases for a second, Coved,
you just go to it. You don't believe is that
the greatest thing? He's getting a lot of hype though,
so what well, look, I disagree, it's Ricky Henderson. I
disagree though, where they said the landscape and it's easier
to steal bases right now?

Speaker 1 (11:56):
Is it?

Speaker 2 (11:56):
I looked, I looked at the status that I'm not
buying internet. It's just an argument, all right, That's what
I wanted.

Speaker 4 (12:01):
To ask you, because the stats don't prove that last year,
same amount of stolen bases in the league. They if
it was easy to steal bases right now, there'd be
a ton of players with fifty or more stolen bases.

Speaker 2 (12:12):
That's not the case. There's only it's a narrative I'm
throwing out there. I don't necessarily buy into that. I
don't think that because you know what, that's an equalizer
for any base stealer, right, So what's the excuse for
other people not following suit and stealing more bases. I'm
not really here to argue that. I know that's just
what people are saying. But when you go stat for
stat show, Hey only has them in three stats. One

(12:36):
of them is played appearance. Oh, Tommy struck out more. Okay,
So I'm saying, like a lot of.

Speaker 1 (12:41):
Peoples, imry, Judge has struck out more. Judge has struck
out more. Judge strikes out more than And by the way.

Speaker 2 (12:48):
The Dodgers only have one more game, one more win
over the Yankees. So you know, as far as who's
the MVP, I still say it's Judge. It's just the
current hype you're dealing with. Of course, the current fire
that show, Hey caught Judge has been doing a steadily
all season long.

Speaker 1 (13:05):
So we post a.

Speaker 2 (13:06):
Question new Fox Sports Radio Nation based on this who's
having a better season Judge or Otani? And then take
it for what Rich brought up before. If you were
to pick one MVP. Why he thinks it should be
one MVP anyway, But why do we have two MVPs?
And you know, I don't necessarily disagree with you there.
I don't know why they never changed that. Maybe there
is a reason to it, but I don't know it.

(13:27):
But what would the reason be that we couldn't figure out.
I'm not debating you on that. You want to pick
one MVP, go for it, I still says Judge. But
that's that's where the fun debate happens. I'm saying the
MVP race is boring because if a sports writer doesn't
pick Otani and Judge, they should get there vote revoked.

Speaker 1 (13:46):
The fun conversation is, oh, and by the way.

Speaker 2 (13:48):
Who had that big gambling scandal earlier this season? Just saying, oh,
and what were you doing? Making the whole loud about
he over cares that. Rich kept saying, how I'm looking
through yankee goggle, you are Yankee gog Really did the
Yankee goggles? Like change the stats before my eyes? Because
this is what the stats say, and it goes you
look at the graph. Only three are highlighted on show

(14:10):
hay side one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten,
thevemb twelve. Out of twelve important stats, Judge has nine
of them that he wins in show, Hay has three.
I mean, you do the math. I can't see how
anybody could debate that because when I said it was

(14:30):
obvious earlier, which was like, so show you think that
if there were one MVP in baseball it would be Judge.

Speaker 1 (14:36):
You think it would be unanimous?

Speaker 2 (14:37):
No, I mean it would be a close one, but
I think realistically it would be Judge. The fifty to
fifty Yo, it's a round number. It's sweet, it's cool,
it's awesome. I can't take anything away from that. But
you know, Judge still has more home runs. If you said,
show hands up with more home runs, I'd be a
little more impressed, and I'd say, yeah, what about this then?
And you know what that could happen. We got six

(14:59):
g left the final thought on this and then we'll
turn to baseball. I'm sorry, NFL. It's easy because they're
NL and al right, it's it's obvious now they competed
when he was on the Angels. That was when it
was like ooh, Judge or Otani. Now with this silly
like we've had forever NL and al MVP. Was anyone

(15:24):
talking about Aaron Judge at all this year? Do you
want to put hype involved in this because people have
been talking about his own al home run record. No
one in the world of sports was talking about show uh,
I was talking about Aaron Judges year. Meanwhile, people won't
talk about Otani. Judge was chasing a triple crown. What
are you talking about? Yes, they were talking about him.

Speaker 1 (15:41):
Who who? People? I don't know everybody, your parents, Cuckoo's Nest, Cucko's,
Danny g Dann Bayer.

Speaker 2 (15:51):
Do you know anyone that was talking about Aaron Judge
the triple crown to the degree that they talked about
Otani was not a pace for sixty four sixty three
home runs At one point, it's like you, It's like
you're trying to convince me something negative about the Niners.

Speaker 1 (16:02):
You just can't do it. You're a home and no
one's talking about Aaron Judge.

Speaker 2 (16:05):
He was putting up a greater season this year than
he did in his sixty two year.

Speaker 1 (16:09):
Sixty two home n a year. I don't know. I
just haven't heard anyone talk about him. That's because you
don't you don't you tune out.

Speaker 2 (16:14):
I don't go to Yankee fans. The Yankee fans every
time you what am I doing watching highlights?

Speaker 1 (16:19):
And what do you say?

Speaker 2 (16:19):
You make fun of me every time I watch TV
like an old guy that's they're talking about.

Speaker 5 (16:24):
I'm not trying to sit on the fence here. I
do think us, being based in southern California does have
a you know, tany slant to it. I would think
that the conversation in New York in surrounding areas was
much more about Aaron Judge at that point. So I
don't because I do agree with that. I think Otani
was more of the conversation. But again, we're in southern California,

(16:48):
We're in Los Angeles, and we're surrounded by that.

Speaker 1 (16:51):
I think the fifty to fifty just was something very special.
It is Oh my god, I am.

Speaker 2 (16:56):
A fan of this and I think the fifty to fifty.
I love that he's fifty. He might you know what
he could be even this year, A sixty sixty guy
that would take a lot, I don't know, but in
the future he made it a possibility. You know, fifty
to fifty seemed out of reach. It took what thirty
five years to get to fifty to fifty since Konseko
did it. I believe yesterday it was the anniversary right

(17:18):
of when Konseko became the first forty forty guy.

Speaker 1 (17:21):
He walks on Tanti could rus Ohantiah.

Speaker 2 (17:25):
Yeah, I think Otani's opened the door to the possibility
of sixty sixty. I don't think we've seen the best
of this guy. So this comes with no hate against Otani,
only love of what he's doing. I'm such a fan
of what he's doing. But if you're gonna tell me
that he's better than Judge this year, I think you're
you're prisoner of the moment and you're out of your mind,

(17:49):
you know, I mean, I know it doesn't apply to
the postseason because postseason isn't accounted for when they do
MVP voting, But would you deep that inside I'd account
for postseason had a better year, even though that's not
how they base MVP, right, Okay, So like let's say
let's say the postseason starts, yeah and Eric Judge lays

(18:10):
an egg and Otani carries the Dodgers, are you still
being like better? You?

Speaker 1 (18:14):
I mean, that's a tough question.

Speaker 2 (18:15):
Because that's not how MVPs are voted on. But I
mean yeah, I mean I'd be open to debate that.
When all said and done and the Dodgers are led
by Otani, then they'd be like, yeah, you know what, Hey,
Aaron Judge may have had the better season, but Otani
had the better year. You know, I'm willing to accept that.
I'm I'm not against Otani. I'm just against people who

(18:36):
are just jumping on the hype train because of what
just recently happened and the incredible streak that Otani has
been on. So you're just real excited about that right now.
It's like you're on that adrenaline rush. You just got
off the roller coaster.

Speaker 1 (18:52):
Yo. Guess what, I've been riding that roller coaster all
season with Judge.

Speaker 5 (18:56):
Let me throw this out. Would you give otania a
little bit more of an edge because of Mookie Betts's
injury one when Bets was out for two months? Oh,
Tani's the guy batting lead off. When Bets comes back,
it's his deal. But to keep them afloat during those

(19:17):
two months?

Speaker 2 (19:21):
Can you could argue that Soto was the Yankees this year?
Like I feel like soa are you looking at Aaron
Judges numbers at all? I feel like, please look at them.
I'm gonna show you this graph just so you could
zip your chat trap.

Speaker 1 (19:34):
Will you look at you need to look at his stats?
Will you look at this? But well, I guess he
has more highlighted numbers.

Speaker 2 (19:39):
You have a little meme from the SAO only beats
him in three categories. There's no debate. There's no debate
eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox. Look, he did
pick up the slack for when Bets was hurt, no doubt.
But guess what he didn't do. He didn't play the
field at all all season. So does he win the NLMVP?

(20:01):
Hands down, no question. I don't care what Big Poppy
thinks about that.

Speaker 1 (20:04):
He wins. That is he having a better season than Judge.
Hell's to the nah.

Speaker 2 (20:09):
Your feedback, your phone calls, and what do you think
about Rich saying hey, there should be only one MVP anyway? Yeah,
we'll do that next right here, and of course NFL, NFL,
NFL football. We'll talk some burrow and a bunch of

getting fired up about Judge. Huh, Well, don't be mistaken.

(21:33):
This conversation trickled in from earlier where Rich was trying
to make it out like I was a crazy person.
I think it was an Otani and it's like, no, dude,
you're just not reading the stats here. You know, Rich
is given the MVP via the oldie test. He's just saying, yeah,
according to my eye, Otani's having the better season. I'm like, no, dude,

(21:56):
according to everything else, but at least judge, but at
least he's playing both sides. At least he was funny
when you quoted yankeefans dot com or something like that,
that was I mean, yeah, well give me credit for
the funny because I read it on purpose. I mean, now,
I'll give you a little nugget here though. When jose Canseco,
I could be wrong, but I don't think I am.
When jose Canseco went forty forty, we were all blown away.

(22:20):
That was in our heyday of collecting cards and wow
Canseco right?

Speaker 1 (22:27):
That was nineteen eighty.

Speaker 2 (22:28):
Eight, he went forty forty, and I believe he won
the MVP that year.

Speaker 1 (22:34):
Well, wouldn't that.

Speaker 2 (22:35):
So that doesn't add to your well, show Hayes having
the better year then, but show Hey will be the
NL MVP. What we're asking here right now is who's
having a better season because when you do the side
by side comparison, Judge is dominating, but the eye test
may lead you to think, what Rich is implying that
it's Otani. But sometimes a guy I'm wrong and his

(22:57):
story is bigger than oh yes, two more home runs
like Mike and Cincinnati hit us up and he said Cavino.
Otani was on NBC Nightly News at Lester Holt last week.
This is like a big, huge story. Otani's just the
best player, national superstar.

Speaker 3 (23:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (23:13):
I mean the judge is still leading in every major
category except for stolen bases, and he has like five
less hits eight seven, seven ninety nine On Fox at
Covino and Rich.

Speaker 1 (23:24):
Let's say, how to Tyler and Penn. What's up? Tyler?

Speaker 6 (23:27):
Hey, how's it going. So I think one of the
another aspect to get you could take into consideration is,
you know, obviously Aaron Judges leading in every category except
for a few. But if you look at you know,
there's the Tylo self most valuable player. You could probably
look at or extrapolate how much, you know values they

(23:47):
actually bring to the team in terms of black jersey
sales or getting new eyes and new fandoms.

Speaker 2 (23:51):
Hold on, let's he's not straight off the conversation or
the question who's having a better season, who's having a
better season, That's really what the question is. You know,
they're both MVPs. Rich is saying there should only be
one MVP. Anyway, I think they're both MVP. They're both vps,
and he's happy. You'll be happy, Danny will be happy,
everyone will be happy. That's become the online debate, the

(24:13):
conversation around the water cooler, the debate at the bar,
at the barber shop, and here on Fox Sports Radio,
James New York state, what's up a bout hey, James,
what's happening?

Speaker 3 (24:24):
Guys?

Speaker 1 (24:24):
What's up? My argument?

Speaker 7 (24:27):
You're saying that Otani doesn't play a position, but you're realizing, you're.

Speaker 6 (24:32):
Failing to realize.

Speaker 7 (24:33):
He's rehabbing from his position.

Speaker 4 (24:35):
He's supposed to be a picture who's.

Speaker 2 (24:37):
No outaping a better season, a better player. You're changing
the argument. You're moving the goalposts, as they say, yes
you are. He's not playing a position, he's just rehabbing.

Speaker 7 (24:50):
He hasn't been anything while doing this.

Speaker 1 (24:54):
Dude, he's really having while doing this. So what has
he done anything? Stat wise on on the field and
during a game. No, he's gone a lot, dude.

Speaker 2 (25:04):
He's not even playing in the field. If you were
to say he's pitching. Yeah, now we got to real debate.
Jerry and Lancaster. What's up, Jerry?

Speaker 1 (25:13):
What hey? Somebody check this out, man.

Speaker 7 (25:18):
So Tani was playing a full time position, there's no
way he can keep up what he's doing now.

Speaker 2 (25:24):
Yeah, he's also he has sole focus on that. I
think that's helping him bouting.

Speaker 1 (25:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (25:31):
I think that does add to Yeah, why hasn't he
done fifty to fifty before? Because he's solely focused on
this and it's great. We're reaping the rewards of him
not pitching. So you think he's only fifty to fifty
because he's not pitching. I think an argument can be
made has he done it before?

Speaker 3 (25:46):
No?

Speaker 1 (25:46):
But has Judge done this before? Yes?

Speaker 2 (25:51):
In fact, he hit sixty two years ago. Not the
the batting average that you pointed out. He's always been
a solid batting average this high.

Speaker 1 (26:02):
Times up Kyle and Rich the question.

Speaker 2 (26:05):
Yeah, yeah, let me make it clear because people are
changing the question who's having a better season. I'm not
saying who's a better all around base all around baseball player.
Show Hail Tani any day of the week. Who's having
a better season?

Speaker 1 (26:19):
Right now, I think you're.

Speaker 7 (26:21):
Under selling the stolen bases part. The comparison is all right,
every category except three, Judge leads, but he leads by.

Speaker 6 (26:31):
A very small margin, not lot, not much.

Speaker 7 (26:35):
But one of the biggest differences is Judge has ten
stolen bases, ten ten and they are three separate home runs. Right,
So if Judge comes up or Tony comes up, no
outs if you walk Judge, okay, all right, I can
get the next guys out. You walk the Tawani he
probed being third and three pitches.

Speaker 2 (26:57):
Judge also has beats him by fifty points. It's in
slugging percentage. But the average it does slugging percentages. Now,
tell me how you you about batting average like that?
How about batting average? That doesn't matter anymore to you?

Speaker 1 (27:10):
Why? Because why?

Speaker 2 (27:11):
Because analytics tell you the batting average is there's only
like five guys hit over three hundred.

Speaker 1 (27:16):
Call me on school. It matters to me.

Speaker 2 (27:19):
Okay, so I don't think there's any debate, but I'll
think your phone calls. I love hearing it. He's a
one dimensional player this season. This season, that's all. That's
all we're saying. Any other year, it's Otani. We've never
seen anything like it. We'll take three more phone calls.
I'm I'm curious is see how both do in the postseason.

(27:42):
I know that doesn't count for any that's actually really, Yo,
that's a really Let's say it's too close to call
right now, right rich, Let's say, let's say what Otani's
been able to do since it's never been done before,
makes it so close to call even though he's not
pitching or playing in the field.

Speaker 1 (27:59):
I mean, big poppy saying he shouldn't even be MVP.

Speaker 2 (28:03):
HEIMI hit us up and said, Judge leads most categories,
but most importantly the category of Covino's heart most meaning
like almost all of them except for stolen bases. I
think it's a really interesting conversation when all said and done,
to see who takes their team further, and honestly, I
will say my money would be more on Otani, just

(28:25):
more of an unflappable kind of guy who just I
think would deliver in those high pressure moments where Judge,
I don't know, I'm not as confident in Judge in
those moments, I would give the edge to Otani.

Speaker 1 (28:36):
I'm not hating on Oton.

Speaker 2 (28:37):
We'll see, And like I said, the bummer of all
of it is that baseball the one thing they haven't
changed over the years is they still have an al
An NL MVP and Cy Young. I wonder why. I
wonder why, you know, I never doest. I mean, tradition
dawned on me. But now with no pictures hitting in

(28:58):
a universal DH and every team plays every other team
and there's like inter league play is like you know,
not just the novelty wore off teams play every team?
So why have the ale and all? Because it's been
going on since nineteen thirty one? And about how old
school you know, Ebeneezer and all these old guys who

(29:20):
vote for this feel about those listening. I think it's
undeniable that when Judge gets up in the batter's box,
you think something special is going to happen. I just
think that Otani brings such a different level of play,
something there's something about him. He's there's something magical.

Speaker 1 (29:34):
Yes, no doubt, but this season, who's having a better one.

Speaker 2 (29:38):
Let's go to Dan Bayer for an update and we'll
zip through your feedback. Next, and I want to get
to NFL. We got to talk a little Joe Burrow.
We got to talk about how the NFL continues to
just be drunk.

Speaker 1 (29:49):
And prompts to Damar Hamlin, what a nice moment yesterday,
What's up? Debates?

Speaker 5 (29:52):
Another stat you guys may be overlooking is that Otani
does have the edge on Judge, is that Otani does
lead him in keys that may or may not have
taken the blame for his gaming problem.

Speaker 1 (30:03):
Yeah, and how about this one? This is who leads
in an overpriced, expensive bubble hunt? Definitely Tania.

Speaker 2 (30:10):
See who's decided who's a bigger international superstar? O Tani
by far? Who's who's a bigger worldwide star? O? Tani
by far? Who's a better pet owner? Who's a better
pet owner? Otani's having a better season, Judge, Geez, let
the guy have it. He's got better teeth Otani. I
don't know, Judge, got has done fixed fix.

Speaker 5 (30:33):
I'll tell you what you guys are focused on the MVP.
People in Detroit are focused on a playoff, maybe a c.

Speaker 8 (30:40):
Wedding, the two again swing and as he got him
on strikes, Tigers win Trek scoobles seven dominant innings win.

Speaker 5 (30:52):
Number eighteen on the season, striking out seven in those
seven innings. He's very likely going to be your Bakan
Young Award winner.

Speaker 2 (31:01):
Because there's an American and national Yeah, Tiger's radio network
got called Tigers beat the race today two to one.

Speaker 5 (31:08):
So what that means is right now, they started the
day a game up on Minnesota for the final wildcard.
Well now it's a game and a half, but they've
also taken the lead for the second wildcard from the
Kansas City Royals, at least for right now.

Speaker 1 (31:21):
Entering tonight they finish.

Speaker 2 (31:23):
The Detroit Tigers finish at home a three game set
against the White Sox, which at this stage of the
game is big.

Speaker 5 (31:30):
Sure, absolutely the Tigers right now in that second spot
in the American League again, half game up on the
Royals entering tonight, and now a game and a half
up on the Twins who are on the outside looking in.
Kansas City Chiefs have sund running Backkareem Hunt to their
fifty three man roster, while Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin
says no need right now to name justin fields QB

(31:50):
one as Russell Wilson continues to deal with that calf strain.

Speaker 4 (31:54):
Steelers have the Colts.

Speaker 5 (31:55):
On Sunday, and it's likely that Fields will get his
fourth straight start. Dolphins had Mike McDaniel wouldn't rule out
the possibility of Tyler Huntley being their starting quarterback against
the Titans on Monday Night. In Week four, Skyler Thompson
continues to be day to day with a chest injury.
Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre revealed in front of
Congress today he's been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. The Pack

(32:17):
twelve Conference is suing the Mountain West over a poaching
fee that was included in a scheduling agreement between the
two leagues. Pack twelve is suing over what could be
a fifty million dollar payment or more after five Mountain
West schools agreed to join the Pac twelve guys back
to you.

Speaker 2 (32:32):
Thanks Dan Byer and by the way, Mike tom will
not naming Justin Fields QB one. You know, it reminds
me of you know, when someone's dating and they're so
insistent on the label, like what are we and it's
I just enjoy it, likey Justin Fields just enjoy your
three and oh Russ is still not ready.

Speaker 1 (32:47):
Enjoy it.

Speaker 2 (32:48):
Don't insist on Mike QB one or what are we
exclusive like, dude, you're three and oh roll with it.
It'd be silly to not start him though. Man, thank you,
Dan Byer. We'll go rapid fire on your phone calls
when we come back. And let's talk about another quarterback
in that division. Joe Burrow. The guy's confident, he's likable
to me. At least he played a good game. But

(33:08):
is uh is he speaking the truth? I'll explain. Coming up,
we'll talk a little AFC football and we'll take a
look at what's going down going into week four.

Speaker 1 (33:19):
So hang tight. More Covin on Rich next.

Speaker 2 (33:25):

of course Spotty and Elijah on the videos. You can
watch what you hear at Covino and rich It's wildly

(34:09):
funny how crazy the NFL has been this year. We've
talked about it at nausea. I didn't like the doubleheader.
I like the fact that we had two games. I
just wish they were staggered more so I could watch
and appreciate both.

Speaker 1 (34:24):
Well, maybe someone needs a second TV.

Speaker 2 (34:26):
Yeah, but still, you know, you can't focus on one.
Maybe like one and the other one like both at
the same time. I wasn't a fan of that. The
minute I thought I was like, oh maybe I got
a handle on this NFL season, I was like, all
Jets are gonna.

Speaker 1 (34:40):
Whoop the Patriots. Well, I was right.

Speaker 2 (34:41):
I hit my Solar power parlay this week. I'm like,
all right, all right, what did I say yesterday? I
was like, well, Dragons will keep it close and well,
and then I said, oh, we Borrow's gonna get his
first win.

Speaker 1 (34:54):
Just the Bills pulled away.

Speaker 2 (34:55):
Obviously, I think everyone's attention went to the Commander's game,
and what a game. That was a shootout, that was exciting,
that was awesome to see, and you gotta give your
boy his flowers. Rich you were high on the Commanders
for a while, which is surprising that I went against them.
But Jadon Daniels looks like, oh he's got something, and

(35:16):
everyone was sort of high on him last night and
how great he could be. Yeah, and that's that's something
you took away. Another takeaway was when Josh Allen plays
a team that once they start beating the team down,
no one, no one puts their cleat on another team's
neck and finishes more than Josh Allen. Like Josh Allen

(35:40):
will just beat someone down, I feel like, finish him.
When the Buffalo Bills are up big, they will win big.
They're not letting anyone get back in there. So I'm
saying he drops the big leg on everybody. He drops
a big leg like the Hulkster in nineteen eighty seven
or so. He drops the football version of the big leg.
But when you think about the losing teams in the

(36:01):
in the efforts last night, Danny, let me ask you,
where do you look at an oh to three Trevor
Lawrence who just got all that money, who everyone's like, Listen,
he was supposed to be the generational guy. He was
supposed to be, not just another top draft pick he was.
There's got to be more accountability there. I've seen people
make an excuses still, right, Yeah, I've seen people get

(36:23):
far much more hate and and play a lot better
than that.

Speaker 4 (36:27):
Remember when the breaking news dropped on our show about
that big fat contract he was given, and we right
away compared him to Gardner Minshew because he has the
same numbers the past couple of seasons.

Speaker 1 (36:37):
And that why does he get a hate pass?

Speaker 2 (36:39):
No one talks so much smack about him because he
looks he looks like he looks like the dude from
uh remember the Titans.

Speaker 1 (36:45):
Nobody.

Speaker 2 (36:45):
It's really interesting how he slips a character slides past
a lot of criticism. Yeah maybe because you know, also,
could you know the team he's playing in a market
that the fan base I don't think there is like
Daniel Jones plays in the New York market, So when
he slips off, it's big time. Aaron Rodgers, you could
say the same thing about Chicago's a big football town

(37:05):
when the Niners or Raiders struggle that there's, you know,
a crazy fan base. It's not a crazy fan base
for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Remember it was only years ago
their games were getting blacked out on Sundays. Couldn't watch
them because they weren't filling up the stadium. So fans
are getting blacked out on Sundays. Yeah, so now, good one, Sam,
and I just think that he is getting a free pass.

(37:28):
And someone that we all assume is going to just
turn it around is Joe Burrow. He did make the
point that they have yet to play any Division game,
and that's six games. Two against the Steelers, two against
the Ravens, two against the Browns.

Speaker 1 (37:42):
A lot could change. But oh and three is quite
a little hole you've dug for yourself. Three is a
big hole.

Speaker 2 (37:49):
But when you're playing well and he's playing well, it
doesn't seem as deep as it is. And that's because
he's still playing great and he still has that poison
confidence about him.

Speaker 1 (37:59):
He had a great game. Jayden Daniels just balled out
last night.

Speaker 2 (38:03):
Really, when you look at Cincinnati schedule, and I know
you hate when I'm always schedule watching, but they go
to the Panthers. So you assume unless Andy Dalton is
you know, is on something. Unless Andy Dalton is on
v do you watch out the Boys unless unless, unless
Andy Dalton is.

Speaker 1 (38:20):
Doing something we don't know about.

Speaker 2 (38:21):
I would assume that the Bengals finally get a w
this Sunday in Carolina. Then they play the Ravens, which
is a must win Division game at this stage of
the game, right, and then they play the Giants the Browns.
So essentially, the Bengals have winnable games coming up and
an important one against the Ravens, and they could very
well find themselves look at it this way, Cove. Then

(38:45):
they play the Eagles and then the Raiders. They could
find themselves at five hundred after eight games.

Speaker 1 (38:52):
They could, that's the goal for them.

Speaker 2 (38:54):
They could go they're zero to three, they could go
four and one over their next five, and now you're
at four and four after eight weeks. But again there's
a different feeling of their owing three and the Jaguars
owing through. This be clear on that because Burrow again
through for three hundred and twenty four yards, three touchdowns,

(39:15):
they scored thirty three points like they were in that game,
could have won that game. You see that they're good
and they're turning it around. So I don't think there's
much worry there. And I think if you get to
five hundred rich during a good spot, there are different.

Speaker 1 (39:29):
Levels of worry. You're absolutely right.

Speaker 2 (39:30):
A there's a way different Bengals worry and a.

Speaker 1 (39:35):
Jaguars Jaguars worry. Yep. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (39:37):
You look at the completion percentage for Trevor Lawrence so
far this season, fifty two point eight.

Speaker 1 (39:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (39:43):
And for some reason, like he's just one of those
guys that doesn't get that criticism that other quarterbacks would
get when he was tatted so high. Maybe it is
the market, maybe it's the expectation of the team. I
don't know why, but he slides by and like, I'm
not here to harp on it, but it's it's obvious
that that's what's happening and they're not producing.

Speaker 1 (40:02):
Well and he's getting paid.

Speaker 2 (40:04):
We're going to talk about trash talking in sports, next
level trash talking, and well, one of the best did
it last night, Josh Allen Wasn't he voted one of
the best trash talks? He was, so well, we'll get
to that. Plus I want to dig a little bit
in here. I don't even know if Dan Bayer has
updated info, but Christian McCaffrey is in Germany or went
to Germany, Like is this one of those things where

(40:27):
we find out later like yeah, he might not play
for a while, or or is it like, you know,
he's getting souped up for a couple of weeks from now.
I don't know. Let's talk about it. We'll get more
next right here. Covin on rich on Fox Sports Radio,
