Mets. Tell yeh, that was like Hooverville that game. Get
it intense? Intense? Oh, guys, intense? You like that is sense? Hey,
what a game though? For real?

a Vikings, Bucks, Commanders, Ravens, Raiders, Raiders sort of weekend.

(01:34):
And uh, how about the Chiefs still undefeated? Yeah, but
barely mahomes Hope you had a victorious weekend. Everybody, Well,
that may have been. I would even say, arguably that
was one of the best baseball games of the last
decade or so easily top five.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
Wasn't better than Show Hayes magical game.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
That game didn't have significance though this is to get
into the playoffs. I'll say for the Mets, actually it
was a great game. Like they said, if you're a
Mets fan right now, you're I forget to say, you're
going bersark.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
This is torture. That's what gets fan. You're going torture.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
If you're a casual baseball fan, you're witnessing one of
the best games ever. It was a great game game
where a game where one guy's individual performance is legendary. Yeah,
that was a great game for him personally. He doesn't
hold the significance of a win. You're in typer scenario.
It was awesome, dude. I was actually feeling for you.
Danny g two, right, you know, your Mets to lead.

(02:31):
Then they took a lead. I was like, oh, so
the first six innings it looks like that the Mets
couldn't hit. I'm thinking, man, I'm gonna have to watch
Game two during the show today and hope that they
somehow find a way to win. And then all of
a sudden, Bats come alive. They're down three to nothing,
they go ahead. Well, then their bullpen.

Speaker 4 (02:50):
I was just gonna say, thank God for the Braves
bullpen for you Rich.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
God Nimo hits a blast at six three A blast
is an understatement, man, he teed off. Dude, that was
that five booms and then the Braves. I mean, they're
a good team. They got to DS. Timmy Trumpets better
sit down because DS stunk it up. Honestly, how nervous
were you, Oh my god, when they went ahead? Are

(03:14):
you uncontrollably pacing when they went ahead seven to six? Yeah,
I was like how they were head six three wounds
going on here, I was losing it. And then just
so you know, guys, it was a win in sort
of situation in case you didn't know. And it was
a crazy doubleheader, so they're playing again. Sale was just
scratched out as the starting pitcher for the Braves because

(03:38):
he has back spasms. So you actually want the Mets
to lose this next game. I have a thought on that,
and I'll explain, but I don't know which call is
better the Howie Rose called it, Monzi played at the
top of the hour or Gary Cohen on s NY.

Speaker 5 (03:56):
And Lindor gets under one to cuner Field Harris going
by again Francisco.

Speaker 6 (04:07):
Lindor flips the script with a two run homes and
five age to seven.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
Who oh boy. That was great. Man ever, really was great.
And Lindor with the big moment, What a great, big
time player. And if it wasn't for Otani, he'd beat
the MVP. For what he meant to the Mets. I
have a thought on that. Most guys like him come
to the Mets especially and stink it up, and he

(04:38):
did the exact opposite, you know, not to make it
all about the Mets. But we've talked about how very
few times you could think of a guy that came
to your team and was best Yeah, as a guy
on your team, Like, I can't think of a guy
that came to the Mets and those were his best years,
possibly other than Lindor. Now, the final call of the game.
I bring this up only because Cavino and I've joked

(04:58):
about how brought casters have one in their pocket. What
am I going to say if it's a no hitter?
What am I going to say if it's a perfect game? Yo,
if this is a monumental moment, you know that when
Otani went fifty to fifty, Joe Davis had that call
in his back pocket, right, Gary Cohen had a call

(05:19):
in his back pocket because if you remember, the Mets
started the season zero to five and it was miserable,
and everyone's like, man, this team stinks. They were, you know,
double digit games under five hundred, and then you remember
the Iglesias, Oh my God, got them all hyped up
and Grimace. Listen to the final call from Gary Cohen

(05:39):
two two ground ball, Glenndor waits on it, He's got it.
The ball game is over from oh and five to OMG.
What a ride.

Speaker 6 (05:51):
The Mets are going to a postseason in twenty twenty four.
You could tell me had one incredible game to clinch
with down three nothing, up six three, down seven six,
Lindor with a home run to put them over the top,
and g has stretched to the max to close it

(06:11):
out of the Mets women eight to seven.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
Yeah, you can tell he had a plan, but it
still gave me chills as a non Mets fan, you know. So,
I'm just trying to make it clear. It was a great,
great win for them, and I'm curious to see what
happens in this second game of the doubleheader, the second
game that well, actually your Mets lot. Some of your
Mets were complaining about this schedule. I saw Jade Martinez
hypainting about it. I mean, it's you know, no one
wants to hear exciting, No one wants to hear for

(06:35):
everybody else. People complain, but it is a tight schedule.
Here's my thoughts. I have two things. Then we're gonna
We're gonna get to a lot of football today. We
are just fresh off of one of the top I
would say, a top five baseball game over the last
twenty years in a long time. It was a nail bier.
I was rooting for you on your behalf. I love
the back and forth. You know, I have a problem
with you though. Before you tell us your thoughts, think
of David Freeze. Yeah, I think I'm just trying to

(06:56):
think of like over the last twenty years, in the
two thousands. It's subject because you know, if your team
did something stellar, that's all this resonate. I'm talking about
games with significance that went back and forth. I'm thinking
Cardinals have had some of those moments.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
Cardinals definitely.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
You know, it has to be a moment where it
was back and forth and a team came out on top.
It can't just be like, oh, that's my team, they won.
This was a game that was a battle. The eighth
and ninth any were insane.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
A battle of significance.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
I thank you with your David right, Jersey on David Wrong,
Rich Davis David Wrong. I feel like you, oh your
Mets a public apology because if we go back to
the videotape, Oh yeah, nobody who had quit this team, Rember,
what I said one time, man, one time, they gave
it to you.

Speaker 2 (07:42):
They gave you what you wanted.

Speaker 1 (07:44):
You owe them a little bit of I'm sorry, thank
you for a great season. All you want them to
do is represent they're in the playoffs now, man, it's anybody, actually,
I'd be really scared of teams like the Mets and
the Tigers.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
Teams like that.

Speaker 1 (07:56):
They're hungry, they're they got great momentum. I'd be careful
of them. I think you're in a great position, and
that's all you need was to get to this point.
Anything can happen. Well, if you remember, if they represent well, man,
you should be proud that they made it as far
this way. When they were trailing in the wildcard, if
you remember, I said, this scenario has to happen this
weekend or I'm officially out. And that scenario happened, and
I pulled myself back in and uh, hey, great game.

(08:18):
I quit them in two layers and then again, rest
of the show. Gonna be a ton of NFL Danny
excited about Nanny's fresh back from Vegas. He went to
the Raiders game yesterday. We'll talk about the Ravens last
night against the Bills. We'll talk about the Niners fine
tuning what they got going on the Chiefs pull out
a win out here in LA we get to a
lot of NFL in a little bit. But two baseball questions.

(08:40):
By no means is this put Otani's MVP in question?
But here's my thought. Otani by far and judge two
best players in baseball? What do you then call a
guy like Lindor that the team would be nothing without him?

Speaker 2 (08:54):
My decond s place.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
No, no, But I'm saying, like, is there like, clearly
Otanian judge best players, no debate, no debate every year,
it's like he was the most valuable player to the team.
Otani's just the best player. Otanian judge best players in
the game. But if you take Francisco Lindor off the Mets,
I don't know if they're five hundred. Yeah, he's great man.

(09:19):
So like is that he's a great men by definition
MVP but should not win the MVP. It almost has
to be like a separate category in your own mind,
like who's so significant significant to their pack?

Speaker 3 (09:32):
YEA.

Speaker 4 (09:32):
Honestly, though, Rich watching nine out of ten Dodger games
this season, and it's a long season. The Dodgers would
not be where they are at right now without Otani.
I'm just saying as oars value because Betts was out
for a couple of months, Freeman was out for the
health of his child, and he was slumping after that.

(09:53):
And so without Otani being that glue and that MVP,
the Dodgers would not be the number one seed right now.

Speaker 1 (09:59):
There's no chance. I do see what you're saying. But
Danny g makes a good point. Plus Otani's circus numbers,
his numbers are just ridiculous.

Speaker 7 (10:08):
Sometimes you there's a lot of great people at the
same time. I'm sure if you look back through history,
there were people that were like, well.

Speaker 1 (10:15):
Great, but there was just someone that was just a
little bit more great. But look at the look at
the at the NBA spot. How many superstars did Michael
Jordan prevent from winning? Berkley, Sewing, Malone, ewing Reggie Miller.
Sometimes there's just someone better. That's the case. And I
think with Lindor, if Shoe hailed Tony didn't exist, Lindors

(10:35):
your every place. But think about it in politics. I've
said this before, not if Mary Lopez wasn't just slaying
it as ast guy, I'd be the guy, would be
the host of the Extra Wipes has more gigs than
I should have than anybody. Take him out of the equation.
I'm one of the coolest guys going.

Speaker 4 (10:54):
I dances with his daughter on TikTok outside your inside
he'd be doing.

Speaker 1 (11:00):
You can see me signed every fight. I said recently
that you could see that in the world of politics.
Not to get political, we do have a vice presidential
debate tomorrow night. I think four losing presidential candidates would
have won this election. Al Gore, John Kerry, John McCain,
Mitt Romney. All four of those losers would have beat

(11:22):
I think Trump, per Kamala, I really do so. Spot
makes a great point. Sometimes it's not how great you are,
it's y know, someone else being great. We talk about
it when you get drunk or act a fool at
an event. As long as you're not the most drunk fool,
people will forget. You might have been drunk at your
holiday Christmas party. But if some guy made an ass
of himself, people forget that you had won too many.

(11:42):
There's always that one dude in your way though. That's
what it really comes down to, that one dude. Otani's
that one dude for Lindor this year. Before we get
to see me that one dude for a lot of
people before we get to all the things that made
you go in the NFL Baseball tomorrow starts the wild card.
Teams like the Dodgers and Yankees get to tune up
and get ready for next weekend. Here's my question. You

(12:05):
never want to throw a game. I also think it's
illegal to throw a game. You can't just be like,
we're gonna lose. But the Mets right now they throw
their spots starter Luke CAZy. It's pronounced Luke CAZy. By
the way, Moncie, I heard you say Luke is he
or lou cheese Mets Radio Network? Was it matter?

Speaker 8 (12:26):
I was Sam?

Speaker 1 (12:27):
Did you cut her off? Oh oh no, she's she's
taping for one of our I thought she was.

Speaker 2 (12:32):
Gonna say the Mets Radio Network said it that way.

Speaker 1 (12:34):
Yeah, the timing of that, yeah, I thought the same exactly.
But but I that was freaky. They had a they
have a spot starter in lou CAZy CAZy. I said,
if the Mets pronounced Luke, if you grew up at Jersey,
you guys going to high school, the little Kzy I
bet actually pronounced Luke cazyzy fresh one today if the

(13:03):
Mets lose game two of this doubleheader. If they lose
Game two, they go to Milwaukee. Now, I know the
Mets just lost two out of three against the Braves,
but rich actually pronounced Melia walk. If you're going to
be mister uh mister Grammer police, actually it's pronounced I
told you.

Speaker 2 (13:23):
Yeah, thank you, if you're gonna be all correct.

Speaker 3 (13:27):
So if the Mets, which is Algonquin, full ahead, the
good Land.

Speaker 1 (13:32):
The good Land. If the Mets lose, they go to
the Brewers. Now, the Brewers are a fast, great ball club.
But if you're the Mets, don't you think you'd rather
go to Milwaukee than go three thousand miles to San
Diego to play the hot red hot Padres. I completely
agree with you, and I agree with Riches fact. I mean, listen,

(13:53):
play in the world. Did you want to take on
the the Padres, who I think is a bigger threat
to your Mets? The Padres almost caught the Dodger. Yeah,
and again take that long ass flight. Like you said,
you want to lose this game to play the Brewers,
But I don't know how you do that, and they
got a lot of starters in this game.

Speaker 2 (14:08):
How do you sales not pitch it, as I say, how.

Speaker 1 (14:10):
Do you purposely lose a game without It's like you
know in the NFL, when you're trying to go to
getting Oh the ball dropped in braves up one nothing
I perfect as we speak, Yeah, blop bass hit to
left field from Urshella. Is that your boy g O
orcella sure former Yankee? Yeah, so Danny g. You've seen
in the NFL when guys are trying to remember like

(14:30):
tank for Tua, remember that was the thing. When you're
trying to get a top pick. There's always those times
where the bad team loses in the final week and
you're like, why would you do that? Because you can't
convince a bunch of pros to lose on purpose. But
you don't think the Mets are like ya, let's not
win this one.

Speaker 4 (14:47):
There was a lot of speculation before the doublehead. The
doubleheader started today because who did I see this morning?
I saw your boy Greenie Rich say, do the managers
like talk to each other beforehand and kind of do
like a gentleman's agreement?

Speaker 1 (15:01):
Sam Patrick investigated this. He put on his John Stossel mustache.
Dan Patrick investigated that if could there be a gentleman's agreement.
Could the Mets and Braves have quote, forfeited one game
each and not even played today. Apparently they couldn't do that. Yeah,
Baseball won't allow Baseball wouldn't allow that. But with the
Mets in and the Mets really have more incentive, I'm

(15:22):
being serious to lose this game, take the quick flight
to Milwaukee, force the Braves to go all the way
to San Diego and face the hot Padres. To me,
I guess the best thing he could do is start
a spot starter, rest some of your starters, because no
one's gonna not play. But yeah, you can't throw a game.

(15:43):
Expect them to throw the game. Some people may be thinking, well,
they're pro athletes. They probably think, hey man, whether it's
the Padres or the Brewers, we're going there to win.
And that is partially the mentality. But I even heard
one of my greats, Paul O'Neill, who came to the
Yankees and selled Paul O'Neil. He was like, hey man,

(16:03):
I played with the Yankees for years, and I'll tell
you I'll be the first guy to admit I would
love if Randy Johnson was not pitching for the series
we played against them or whatever. You do think about
those things, of course, you know, so you do think about, well,
what's the better matchup? Who you want to face, who
you don't want to face? This path human nature, the
path in the National League. So the Mets got to

(16:24):
want to face the Brewers. I would imagine the path
in the National League would be for the Mets, no joke,
the path would be Brewers Phillies who are Padres Dodgers. Ooh,
lose this game. Stop saying yeah, because we're gonna talk football. Absolutely,
but don't sleep on the excitement which is the base

(16:46):
sea season, because you know, this is when you really
of course you know these teams, you've watched them throughout
the year, but this is when you really zone in
on these characters and see who steps up. And this
gets real exciting right now. So appreciate it. Everything you
just said about the potential path. It's like it's not
easy either way. Yeah, So that's that's great man. Congratulations

(17:09):
to the Mets. And again the Braves in the second
game are up one nothing, and again I hope all
your NFL teams won. As we get ready for Monday
doubleheader of your Monday Night foosball. Two double headers today,
one in baseball and one for Monday Night football. And
tonight Detroit wears those black jerseys with the Honolulu Blue helmets.
Is given me a lot going down in the NFL tonight.

(17:29):
So but we'll get to all NFL next. Things that
made you go, hmm, your observations. We're four weeks in,
We're about twenty something percent of the way. What are

That is God hand of the brains.

Speaker 6 (19:48):
Bob padded right center field.

Speaker 10 (19:50):
Francisco Lindor has an MVP moment. Whether he wins water
or not, Hey has just put the Mets back on
top eight to seven.

Speaker 1 (20:02):
Wow. Wow, Wow, seriously, what a big time performance, what
a big moment.

Speaker 2 (20:11):
Lindor is the man. That was awesome. Congrats to your Mets, Rich.

Speaker 1 (20:15):
Wow. They move on. But now we talk about what's next.
I just have like a hypothetical. Let's say I don't know,
there's two walks, three men on right, I mean two
men on and like Baiter hits a home run, just
like by accident, the Mets win. Now they're playing the
Padres is the team man. I just can't control that.
That's texting some of my Mets buddies. I'm like, how

(20:35):
do you throw a game without throwing one? Because you're
a competitive professional and it's little things like Atlanta had
a blue fly ball into left field. You saw a
little less hustle by the defense. Marte struck out drop
third strike, he didn't run to first. You know that
maybe the little things you don't want to win this game. Yeah,

(20:56):
it's the little things. That's what Kevin Rossdale said. So
it could show Arlette set. But then again, watch they go.
They go to Milwaukee and you wish they would have
went to San Diego. Who knows.

Speaker 2 (21:05):
So get this post.

Speaker 1 (21:07):
He's gonna play last one Standing if you want to
play along and win a Swiggy if you want the
Swaggy with the CNR steamless seel water bottle, the Swiggy.
Last One's standing some NFL trivia. Later in this show,

Things that make you go, things that make you goal,
It makes me go. We're in week four already, Mah

(21:48):
slow week. Let me tell you Yesterday was a rap
in the week.

Speaker 10 (21:51):
Four.

Speaker 1 (21:51):
Yesterday was a relaxing day in my house. I didn't
have company of her and my daughter was playing at
her friend's house for a change, so I had the TV.
All the TV's going Sunday ticket. It was a day
to watch the NFL football. First thing that made me go,
let's get out of the way, because it's the most
obvious one. Sam Donald gee status bro unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (22:15):
He is MVP. You know, No, it makes you, uh, it.

Speaker 1 (22:20):
Does make you think that you know how much of sports,
especially the National Football League is system and circumstance. Because
you can't tell me home on, don't undermine, grow, undermine no,
like never giving up on yourself. Because I'm sure Sam
Donald had this inner belief that that was wavered at
one point, probably, but still kept on believing. No, I'm

(22:40):
good enough. I am that guy. You know you got
to give him a little credit too. And then it
makes you wonder when he was sitting behind Brock party
last year. Yeah, had something happened to Brock, you may
you may have seen this guy with the Niners and
we'd be talking about man, should should the forty nineers
have kept Sam Donald, like Sam donal To, showing that

(23:01):
the guy at USC the guy we all thought was
going to be a composed, great quarterback in the NFL,
It just took a couple more years than we thought. Yeah,
I mean, and that's understandable. No To to grow some
composure in the NFL might take a few years. And
good for him man again for never giving up on
himself as well. Like I said, I want to give

(23:23):
him some of the credit, but you also mentioned Brock Purty.
He makes me go because where are all the naysayers
even approaching the season.

Speaker 2 (23:30):
So many people doubting this guy.

Speaker 1 (23:32):
Doubting this guy and you heard about it all the time, right, Oh,
we don't know about Rock Party and he's shutting everybody
up this season, and no one's there to really take
accountability for everybody doubting that guy.

Speaker 2 (23:44):
Rock pure props to him.

Speaker 1 (23:46):
Rock Party has had his I think he's playing his
best football right and he's looking quick in the pocket,
looking crispy on he's crispity crunchity. Props to Brock Party. Man,
he's looking good. And I only bring that up because
you brought him up. But so many people took like
a little bit of a pride at shabbing at the
dude and shooting him down like he wasn't the real deal. Danny,

(24:07):
would you agree that that narrative is slowly fading that
people people are like, yeah, Brock Purty is good.

Speaker 2 (24:11):
I haven't heard anything.

Speaker 4 (24:13):
Used to be a regular thing you'd see on FS
one scrolling underneath the screen all now now it's you.

Speaker 1 (24:18):
Know, FS one, ESPN, radio, TV, anywhere. I think the
narrative that Rock Party's a system guy is like, you
see him scrambling, you see him. Everybody forgot that. They
were saying everybody has amnesia in sports. It's like, oh,
you forgot you guys were saying about Rock Party for
like the past two years. Well, Rock Party to me
looks like a pretty good NFL quarterback, and he is.

(24:40):
He's showing more of his Uh you know how Brock
played in college where he was not a game manager,
where brockwould use his legs, use his.

Speaker 2 (24:47):
Mobility down with the quickness his accuracy.

Speaker 1 (24:49):
Brock Party, forty nine ers fan should be very happy
with what you're seeing from him. And you got de
Bo back. He wasn't one hundred percentying. He's just athletic
enough He's no Lamar Jackson there. What he's doing is productive.
Oh I got something that'll make you go hmm. Last
night Buffalo sort of, you know, take an little step back.

(25:09):
They're three and one. You can't say this shame in
losing to Baltimore in Baltimore on a Sunday night.

Speaker 2 (25:16):
But Derrick Henry, for a guy.

Speaker 1 (25:17):
Of his size, they clocked him like running over twenty
miles an hour when the secondary couldn't catch Derrick Henry.
Were you a little shocked? Like, yo, he's got he
turns on the Jets here that size. Speaking of the Jets,
Oh my god. Speaking of accountability, you gotta focus on
the positives. It seemed like Aaron Rodgers took a lot

(25:39):
of accountability. But that team is due to diapers. Man.

Speaker 2 (25:42):
That's how I feel about the Jets.

Speaker 1 (25:43):
Yeah, as I said, and I still believe it. There's
certain teams that are just I don't know. It takes
that extra push. It takes a lind'or you know, to
really be that leader for your Mets or your Mets
are gonna met. I don't know if if Aaron rod
is the guy to make the Jets not Jet I
can't score but you know what, I will say one observation,

(26:09):
and this is where we're okay being all over the
place hit us up eight, seven to seven, nine to
nine on Foxure observations from Week four of the National
Football League. Danny seeing your Raiders pull out a nice
win in Vegas.

Speaker 2 (26:21):
That was awesome. We're happy for you, Danny J because
you were there.

Speaker 1 (26:24):
And seeing the Broncos win a garbage game against the Jets.
But a win is a win. Nonetheless, it made you
realize that some of the teams you thought might be
bad aren't that bad, and the good teams aren't that good.
Where I feel like the NFL is very balanced right now. Yeah,
the Chiefs look like they're the Chiefs. They look like

(26:45):
the defending champions, but they're barely winning. You look at
the NFC East where people were like, oh, it's a
Cowboys or Eagles division, because that's what it seems like
it's been over the last handful of years. I've been
wrong on a lot this year. One thing I was
not wrong on Daniels and the Washington Commanders look damn good.

(27:06):
Everyone looks good. No one really looks great. Who looks
great to you? Sam Donald? Yeah, Sam Donald, that's it, yeah,
Sam Donald, and the Chief's ability justin Jefferson and Mazi.
Would you say, but if Seattle has like a huge
game tonight against the exactly.

Speaker 4 (27:28):
Did you see the ball that Jefferson snatched yesterday looked
like an optical illusion? It feels like a magician man.

Speaker 1 (27:34):
There were I mean, he's just so good and I
love him even more from watching Receiver on Netflix. Would
you say that it's not so much the Chiefs are
and the Chiefs had a bad injury yesterday. Rice is
down and who knows? Is there any update on that?

Speaker 12 (27:48):
No, they're doing more tests today. The latest that Andy
Retel reporters is they're doing more tests, but he's out indefinitely.

Speaker 1 (27:56):
They're just not saying the official It seems like the
chief are good, but it's more about Mahomes finding a
way to win. They're not blowing teams out, they're not
beating teams badly. They he's experienced, you know, that's just
that's putting him over the edge, his pure composure and
winning attitude.

Speaker 4 (28:13):
It seems what a tackle by Mahomes too, Oh yeah,
that was rough man.

Speaker 2 (28:17):
His head gotten away there.

Speaker 1 (28:20):
So your observations week four doesn't have to be in
the NFL. Could be anything you witnessed in all of
the sports or life whatever. It could be like that
he liked that UFC fighter twirking over her opponent after
she knocked her out. I mean, if it made you
go homeless, let's chop it up eight seven to seven
ninety nine on Fox at Covino and Rich.

Speaker 2 (28:39):
How about this?

Speaker 1 (28:40):
This made me say, hmm, tom Brady's petty response to
Baker Mayfield, and then Baker Mayfield has a big game,
and then Tom Brady's real nice to him at the
end of the game.

Speaker 2 (28:53):
So it went like full circle.

Speaker 1 (28:56):
But it was kind of interesting to me to see
Tom Brady's competitive juices in the pregame with our old
pal Kevin Burkhard. If you missed it, it started with
Baker Mayfield talking about how he's different from Tom Brady.
Take a listen to Baker.

Speaker 13 (29:13):
The building was a little bit different with Tom in there. Obviously,
playing wise, Tom was different. He had everybody dialed in
high strung environments, so I think everybody was pretty stressed out.
So they wanted me to come in be myself, you know,
bring the joy back to football a little bit for
guys that weren't having as much fun.

Speaker 1 (29:29):
So Tom Brady couldn't let that go. And you know,
Tom Brady came prepared this week with props and note
cards and stories and response to that take a listen
said quote.

Speaker 8 (29:40):
They wanted me to come in, be myself, bring the
joy back to football for guys that weren't having as
much fun. It's funny because you've made this environ room
for me very stressful up here in the booth. So
I understand where he's coming from.

Speaker 2 (29:50):
Do you feel I really dress enough?

Speaker 14 (29:52):
Well, I was gonna say I thought stressful was not
having Super Bowl rings. So there was a mindset out
of a champion that I took to work every day.

Speaker 2 (30:03):
This wasn't daycare.

Speaker 14 (30:05):
If I wanted to have fun, I was gonna go
to Disneyland with my kids.

Speaker 8 (30:08):
Wh Yeah, So you know as you were saying go ahead,
that's you feel like, I feel like there's more in
there to say.

Speaker 14 (30:16):
There's a way to approach this game. Yeah, and it's
that with the with the right mindset and try to
push each other outside of our comfort zone.

Speaker 2 (30:23):
And great teammates do that.

Speaker 14 (30:24):
You come in, I have someone like Gronkowska.

Speaker 1 (30:26):
I have someone like Evans, there's.

Speaker 2 (30:28):
High expectations for us.

Speaker 1 (30:30):
We got to make sure we go out there and deliver.

Speaker 8 (30:33):
The competitive juice is still flowing still in there.

Speaker 1 (30:36):
Yeah you think no apologies man, Tombady came across a
little bit as a jerker, I thought so. I didn't
think Baker Mayfield said anything that was off the wall
Michael Jackson style. He was just being honest, like he
had here. He's a different vibe. He's a different type
of quarterback. I know spie and I know bitterness. There
was a little bit of both in there. Like Tom Brady.
By the way, do you know what was the most

(30:56):
passive aggressive thing he said too, I come in with
the mindset of a champion, has to say if I
want to have fun, champion, I go to Disneyland.

Speaker 2 (31:05):
There's a lot going on there.

Speaker 1 (31:06):
Ouch. He just felt like he yeah, he just felt, hey, Rich,
be quiet. You gotta have the mindset of a chance.
Baker then responded to that.

Speaker 11 (31:18):
Right, A lot of that got taken out of context,
and none of it was personal by any means. It's just, uh,
you know what he demanded of the guys, and that's
that's the aura of Tom Brady and that's what he
did to bring a championship here, and so nothing personal,
but uh yeah, talking before the game, he's obviously happy
for me, and he knows the guys, so he knows

(31:39):
how much I enjoyed throwing to Mike and Chris because
he got to do the same. And so it's fun
to be able to, you know, talk about the same
experiences with the guy like that, things.

Speaker 2 (31:46):
That make you go home.

Speaker 1 (31:47):
The growth of Baker Mayfield, dude, I think he's handling
everything the right way, even his fun responses. He was asked,
you know, how do you deal with the hot weather
in a game like this, and he made a joke
about he changed his pants a halftime, gave Aaron Andrews
a little laugh, gave her a laugh, gave everybody laugh.
I feel like he handled that Tom Brady situation perfectly.
You're seeing great leadership. I thought, if anything, it made

(32:10):
Tom Brady look a little uh it's the word petty, petty, no,
but a little uh like defensive, and.

Speaker 2 (32:18):
He was real defensive on that.

Speaker 1 (32:20):
And after the game he was or appeared to be
happy for Baker Mayfield, who had a game, but it
did make me say, hmm, look, it's very just how
he even said, like, so this set of a champion, like,
I don't know, it's a little a little week of
TB twelve. And I'm a big fan of Tom but
again he was I thought he was pretty prepared and

(32:43):
and I was gonna say stellar, but I wouldn't say
stellar yet. But I didn't hear any criticism about him
in the booth this week. Well, you know what, all
your observations, people on hold will get to your phone calls,
Danny G's on standby while Monzi gives you an updaten
sound soft like that, you think you think Tom have it.

Speaker 12 (33:05):
I just don't think anything was said wrong on either side.
I think Baker maybeel said what he said, and then
Tom Brady said what he said.

Speaker 1 (33:12):
Tom Brady's like if Tom Brady was said like you
could have funnel, but if you want to be a
winner like me, but he is, Well, what Baker Mayfield
said didn't warrant any of that, because it seemed very
understandable from the listener and fan perspective, like, oh okay,
tom Brady's real intense, Baker Mayfield's more of a fun
atmosphere kind of guy.

Speaker 12 (33:34):
It just seems like there's a big age gap with
the way that they are.

Speaker 1 (33:38):
And so I heard this story, I was like, I.

Speaker 12 (33:40):
Don't think either. That was just his response because he's
a champion.

Speaker 1 (33:43):
I heard Tom Brady used to go uphill both ways
to football practice. That's what I heard.

Speaker 8 (33:47):
You.

Speaker 2 (33:48):
Okay, let's congratulations to your Mets.

Speaker 3 (33:51):
Rich.

Speaker 12 (33:51):
Yes, they win game one of the doubleheader against the Braves.
Francisco Lindor with a two run shot in the ninth inning,
secures the win, secures the spot in October baseball. Right now,
Game two, it's the top of the fourth ending with
the Braves on top of the Mets one zero. Braves
were going to have Chris Sale on the mound. They
scratched him due to backspasms. Grant Holmes is starting for

(34:12):
the Braves.

Speaker 1 (34:12):
Do you know who's starting for the Mets? Look CAZy? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (34:15):
Do you know? Hiss Er?

Speaker 1 (34:17):
Probably very high. He's been a spot starter for years,
so ten point three eight, it's the right move for
the Mets to bring up a spot start. But he's
had good moments. He's like one of those guys that
goes in and out of rotation. In and out of
the bullpen double a back to the But you know
what we were saying before, MONSI, it's hard to throw
a game when you want to throw a game, because
you're still a competitor, Like you can't tell these guys don't.

Speaker 12 (34:37):
Hit, and then you throw a game because you think
you have the better matchup and it doesn't go your way,
so you don't want to do that.

Speaker 1 (34:42):
Coul Well advantage by the way, for the Braves, if
Sale just had backspasms and they do win this game,
which they are up on nothing, they could throw Sale
game one tomorrow against the Padres.

Speaker 12 (34:53):
Which the Padres were hoping that they A lot of
people said they purposely lost yesterday so that the Braves
would have to use Chris Sale and not be able
to use them against them. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, A
little bit back, a little back and forth. A quick
update here for your forty nine ers, Christian McCaffrey. Matt
Mayako of NBC Sports reports that he is bilateral Achilles tendonitis,

(35:17):
meaning he has tendonitis in both his legs wow, and
that he is in a Dramaney getting treatment.

Speaker 1 (35:23):
A get More Germany.

Speaker 12 (35:24):
Apparently he's there getting treatment apparently.

Speaker 1 (35:26):
Well he was last of maybe went back. He was
he he was in the Bay Area yesterday.

Speaker 12 (35:29):
So oh then maybe he's back. But that's why he
went there. And last thing I'll tell you here, the
Browns did confirm that Nick Chubb is expected to return
to practice, and so is tight End David and Joku.

Speaker 1 (35:40):
So back to you guys, speaking.

Speaker 2 (35:43):
Of your forty nine ers.

Speaker 1 (35:45):
Rich. Yeah, when brock Party was talking about, you know,
his year and how he's been solid, he's just good enough,
he said something like he was time faster than Deebo
and McCaffrey out of the pocket, like, and he was
serious about it. His quickness in the pocket, he's saying
is faster than them. He's underrated because that's that was

(36:06):
his college game. At least that was my interpretation of
what he said. Well, hey, we'll talk more NFL. All
your observations will go over week four and then tonight
we got a double Doozy and I got just the
teaser bet. Actually I think I'm gonna do parlay, So
we'll go over some of our bets for tonight. A
Double Doozy Monday Night Football, and that's all next right here.

Well over the weekend and over the last twelve hours. Dude,
if you're a sports fan, you're in I feel like
your mom would say, you're in your high heavens is
that phrase? I don't know. You're stink to high heaven.
Stink to If you're in high heaven, you're like a
pig and s yeah, Liken Heaven, It's like, yeah, you're

(38:42):
like on cloud nine.

Speaker 2 (38:43):
How about that?

Speaker 1 (38:44):
So not only are we going over all the great
observations from Week four of the NFL, you had arguably
one of the best baseball games in the last decade
happened earlier today.

Speaker 7 (38:54):
Better than O Tani hitting three home runs and breaking
a record in one game.

Speaker 1 (38:58):
Well, that was an individual event. This was for a
postseason spot, especially for much more significance. And now the
Braves have to win now. So wild Cart starts tomorrow,
a doubleheader tonight in NFL for Monday Night football. It
is the sick time to be a sports fan. And
then you're thinking football, baseball, basketball, Carl Anthony Towns to
the Knicks.

Speaker 2 (39:19):
Wow, yeah, but then not to be that guy.

Speaker 1 (39:21):
But rest in peace to Kenby Matumbo, Yeah, who passed
away at fifty eight sow yeah, fifty eight years old.
Rest in peace to Kem Bay. But to show that
women's sports are continuing to grow, did you see that
this is official? Now? You thought it was all about

(39:42):
Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese. Nah, when you're arguing with
Spike Lee, that means a w NBA has arrived. Did
you see Spike Lee and Kelsey Plumb're getting into it.
He so like Spike Lee is now for Spike Lee.
But it's it's great to see the w NBA playoffs
are surviving without the young marquee name. So just a

(40:04):
great time to be a sportsman now. Things that made
you go hmm. I mentioned that I thought it was
cool that Aaron Rodgers took accountability and spoke about accountability.

Speaker 2 (40:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (40:17):
Right, he's saying, hey, some of these players on his team,
on his line should take accountability. But did you see
that Allen Lazard play where he got the flag for
disorderly conduct or whatever? He did a little shooter? McGavin,
did you see that, Danny g anyone else that he did?

Speaker 2 (40:34):
He can he does.

Speaker 1 (40:36):
Yeah, I saw that. They throwed a flag on it,
and then you see the reps like re enacting and
they're like what did he do?

Speaker 4 (40:41):
Like he did the and I didn't understand was it
too violent?

Speaker 1 (40:46):
I thought maybe he cursed or said he said, They're
like what, really he did a shootout, that's all he did.
So is a shooter? McGavin considered, like a yes, violent?
Less they again unless there was something said he sort
of tosses the ball up.

Speaker 2 (41:02):
He's sort of proud about the play.

Speaker 12 (41:04):
Me, this does it a pol I think if you
do any gesture that resembles a gun or shooting.

Speaker 1 (41:11):
I thought, but I also do the rifle.

Speaker 12 (41:16):
Yeah, Elmer, I think, really, that's what it's coming down to,
and he's probably gonna get fined.

Speaker 1 (41:21):
Isn't a discretion though? Can't we all be like, yo,
he just did a little shooter like shooting, that's what
I mean. Like I thought it was if it was
more of a you're antagonizing the other team, like bad sportsmanship.
That was like a playful nothing did a golf swing first?
Oh yeah, yeah, But I thought it was also if
it's in the direction of the.

Speaker 2 (41:38):
Team, and it was. And then he just did it
and celebrate. It was so like such a nothing.

Speaker 4 (41:45):
Bird would say, what if he put his thumbs down
and just did a point?

Speaker 1 (41:49):
But yeah, there there you go.

Speaker 2 (41:51):
Just yeah, and.

Speaker 1 (41:55):
I guess you're setting the president to be fair, you
set a president. But it made me say, hmm, yeah,
I gets you know, made me go, hm, I agree
with you.

Speaker 2 (42:04):
Covino.

Speaker 1 (42:04):
Now, I was talking to Bow in the editing room,
who's doing a fantastic job As always, Bow is a
Caleb Williams fan, and I said, what's your thoughts on Caleb?
Because each week, each week they're making progress in Chicago,
you could see Caleb getting better and the fact that
they're two and two is giving them a little more
leeway where no one's really getting in on them that much.
We'll talk Caleb Williams a little more and all the

(42:25):
other things that made you go, hmm, shoot up week
Moore of the NFL. We'll talk some more baseball playoffs
and a bunch right here having fun on a Monday.
Thanks for hanging Covino on rich on Fox Sports Radio, Boom,
