(01:20):
Let's give it up to the handsome, silky, smoothiest, smoothiest,
like that smoothiest Danny Guesday, the super producer with the
most buttery voice in all the land. Of course, is
he happy that his team unloaded Devonte Adams? Yeah, he's
got it because they got what they wanted. Also, Iowa,
Samuel's here, Jay Stew's here just taking it in, hanging
(01:43):
out of course, Dan Byer looking handsome, getting ready for
your updates. Spotty's on the videos at Covino and Rich
along with Elijah and his team. So thank you guys
for being part of our team, part of our family.
Fox Sports Radio Nation. Let's go. I don't have my
Covino foam finger. Sorry, trying to get adjusted here.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
Man.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
Yeah, you know you got the bunk chair today. Man,
he has one chair in the studio, but I need
a booster seed. Guy, you got the whack ass chair. Yes, anyway, whatever,
it's good to be here. Back in Los Angeles. I
was in Idaho yesterday. Some of you guys saw that.
How was the Potato Festival. The Potato Festival was great,
but you know, I was able to catch the Yankee
(02:23):
game before I left. It was great, felt great about it.
I told you, Luke Weaver is going to be that guy.
You don't know him now, but you're gonna know him.
And he's either gonna be the hero or that guy
where you say, why did they put this dude in
this important role in the postseason? But he's the guy
right now closing out the games for the Yanks. They're
(02:43):
looking solid. Juan Soto. It was a Soto photo last
night and a Stantonio blast and I think Aaron Judge
is coming around. So Yanks are looking good. I'm pumped
about it. The postseason is real. Its postseason Baseball, It's
spooky season, and of course it's football.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
Yeah, We're gonna get to a lot of NFL today.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
Devonte Adams, Jerry Jones, big game this week, Niners Chiefs,
a little rematch of the Super Bowl. Even my boy
Trent Williams said, oh, it's not really a revenge game.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
How could you you know? We lost the super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
This is a regular season game, but it's a big one,
so we got some good matchups.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
We'll get to all that. But speaking of your Yankees
and your pinstripes.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
I'm rocking my pinstripes today. Man, how did you earn them?
I earned them years ago. Yeah, a super fan. You
know what's whack about this stuff? Like how many jerseys
do you really buy? Right? You only buy a few
in your lifetime, especially when you're a Yankees fan, because
they don't change their jerseys. Pinstripe Pride, no name on
the back. Of course, when the Yankees went on their
run in the nineties, that's when I bought all my
(03:44):
jerseys for the most part. So that means they're like
four sizes too big. No, when baggy clothes were in Yeah,
not because I was a big fat soo. Because we
wore our jerseys and our clothes. Four size is too big.
You need a slim fit eron Judge Jersey. I could
fit an entire winter coat underneath this thing. But I'm
rocking the pinstripes today. What about him? Your Pinstripe Pride.
(04:06):
First of all, Yankee fan are not I'm out a fan.
He is but you have to savor these calls that
John Sterling is doing on the radio. You know, a
lot of people aren't aware that John Sterling, the voice
of the Yankees, the radio voice of the Yankees, retired
mid season because of health issues. But he came back
out of retirement for the postseason. So we get to
(04:27):
hear the Wan Soto calls and everything else. That's fun.
You know what, we'll play them later on in the show.
I'll have Sam trying to pull them. But just to
hear this guy with his Stantonian and a photo sodo.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
It's never gonna be forever because he's old. This may
be it. And he was the voice of the Yankees,
the Yankees when.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
You could hate the Yankees, but yankey, you have to
appreciate the unique delivery of John Sterling, love him or
hate us, especially when the national broadcast there have been
a headline in the past.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
Few weeks some lackluster games.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
Yeah, people want their regular voices, their own guys, and
not the national broadcasters. Well, I bring up your lost
Yankees because while I do look at that jersey and think, man,
was can you no one hundred pounds?
Speaker 3 (05:17):
Have you?
Speaker 1 (05:18):
It's so big on me dude, have you ever heard
of Yankee arrogant fan say I get it extra large
so I could wear it in October with a with
a sweatshirt underneath. Yet to fit at Honey underneath that. Yeah,
Colvino has explained that on the air before you gotta
get it over. Another reason this big, another reason to
hate Yankees fans. But what I will say is there's
(05:40):
something about capitalizing on the season in which your path
is easy. This happens in every sport NBA, NHL, football, baseball,
you name it. Sometimes a fighter could win a championship
because he just has to beat like the interim guy
that just got the belt. And what I'm saying is
the path sometimes is the most important. Oh and you
(06:05):
gotta beat the team that's in front of you. You know,
sometimes you don't make the schedule. Even in the NFL season,
it's like, yeah, but it was an easy win. You know,
a win's a win. You're supposed to win those games.
Got to capitalize on those moments. I mean that year
where the Eagles went to the Super Bowl. I'm not
saying they didn't deserve it. Jalen Hurts came up a
little short. But that year they beat a Niners team
(06:27):
where Rock Purdy got hurt on the first play and
not the first play the first you know, quarter. And
sometimes your team is just blessed with whoa the good
team got eliminated before.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
We even played them.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
M hm. The Yankees are used to dealing with Altuve
and Springer and all those you know, those familiar Astro's names,
or even those ridiculous rivalries with the Red Sox. The
simple fact that your Yankees could get to the World
Series by beating, in my.
Speaker 2 (06:55):
Opinion, like the good teams, like the Royals and Guardian.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
Good teams, but they owned the Central, so they had
the Central's numbers, so it is an easier path. Even
though Derek Cheeter didn't want to necessarily admit that, Hey Geetz,
what do you think And he didn't want to say it.
A Ron's like, I'll say it, A Rons like, I'll
say it. They got an easier path through the World Series,
they do. And when you have there's no real easy
(07:22):
path because you still have to deliver, you still have
to capitalize. But we all understand what it means. Agreed,
you could only play who's in front of you. And
that's why I hate when people say, well, your team's
a soft you know, five and one in the NFL
or something, Well, you don't choose your schedule. That's another
layer of this. But when you do have an easy path,
that's when you really hope your team capitalizes. You know,
(07:45):
as an NFC fan, as a Niners fan, I think
the AFC is so much stronger that I always keep
talking about how the forty Niners window of winning is closing,
because eventually there'll be a rebound. But right now, when
I said, give me the best teams in quarterbacks, you'd say, oh,
mahomes Lamar Jackson. You know, Burrow may turn it around.
Josh Allen with Buffalo. That whole AFC has.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
To battle it out. Well, what if the Niners had
to do like beat the Lions.
Speaker 1 (08:12):
Lions are the team to a good But yeah, you
know what I'm saying, Like, there's just a simpler path,
and that's the Yankees right now. It's the truth. If
you're a Mets fan, which I am, do you realize
what you had to do now? You put yourself in
that scenario by being a wild card. But the forty
nine Ers, their path is easy. That's my football team.
My baseball team. The Mets had to go figure out
(08:34):
what they were doing in Atlanta. The Lindor home run
they got them into the playoffs. Then the Dramatics repete
Alonzo and Milwaukee three games on the road. Then they
had to beat their division rivals, the Phillies. Now they
have a battle with Danny G's Dodgers. To even make
it to the World Series, the Mets had to jump
through multiple circus hoops. I think the same applies in
life too, when you try to compare your path to
(08:57):
someone else's path. Everybody's path is different, and just because
someone had an easier path, it's not their fault, it's
not their problem. It's a matter of them capitalizing on it. Though.
There's some radio broadcasters that worked in ten small market
cities before they made it to New York, LA, Chicago, Miami.
So Rich was on I'll brag for you. Rich Rich
(09:17):
was on New York City radio number one market as
the nighttime hottie. That's funny, the number one market in
New York City Z one hundred at like nineteen. People
work their entire career to get that opportunity. Then you
get hate on Rich or you can say hey Man,
good for him. It's what you do with that opportunity
and do it that moment. The point is everybody in
(09:39):
life has a different path, and their own path does
a matter of what they do. It's a matter of
what they do with it. And the same in sports.
You can only play who's in front of you and
make the best of it. And the same with the Yankees.
And I think it's true they have an easier path,
but they still have to get passed through this so
past the Indians and then beat either the Dodgers or
the Mets to be the champions. Now you could argue
(10:02):
that this is, like you said, in every aspect of life,
and what do they always say? Success is luck combined
with being prepared for the moment, right. I mean brock
Purdy is a great example. There's quarterbacks like brock Purty,
that Tom Brady that thought I may never start really
(10:23):
playing the NFL, an injury a couple. You know, balls
bounce a certain way, you get your chance, you capitalize
on that chance.
Speaker 2 (10:31):
And now brock Purty's gonna end up making fifty sixty
million dollars a year.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
If you would have asked brock Purdy, mister irrelevant last
pick of the draft a couple of years ago. Hey, Brock,
do you think in like three years you'll make sixty
million dollars a year? Yeah, but there is such a
difference of getting an opportunity to be a young quarterback
on a great team any young quarterback on a struggling team.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
Dude, look at Sam.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
I saw an article about is Sam Darnold gonna be
a guy that because of this season if he keeps
it up and then the Vikings going on a run
postseason have some success. Is Sam Darnold gonna get paid?
But my point is you can't hate on the guys
that got that lucky opportunity because you still have to
bring it. A Lah Brady, a lah Purdy. So there
(11:15):
you have it. Like I said, a Rod wasn't scared
to admit that the Yankees have the easier path. I'm
a fan and they do, but I'll take it every
day you have to take. You have to capitalize. That's
the point of this, I mean discussion. I was happy
for you last night, yeah, being that you were rooting
for your Yanks, but I don't feel like Cleveland was
ever really in that game. And tonight you got Garrett
(11:36):
Cole pitching. I just think we're at a point now
where you should be pumping your fist smiling. But to me,
it's like the Yankees are gonna be in the World Series.
It's just a matter of who has it more. My
Mets are Danny G's Dodgers, because if the Guardians are
in the World Series, I'd be shocked. You don't want
to celebrate too soon. The Guardians still have a chance.
They're a stacked squad. They got some superstars there, great
(11:58):
bullpens and great hitters, some maybe future Hall of famers.
But the Yankees should beat them, and they should be
in the World Series. And whether it's the Mets or
the Dodgers, man, it's going to be a great one.
Let me ask you, being that you follow closely, and
you and I while we are pals, this is a
battle week for us. You know, it's a week where
(12:19):
you and I are looking at each other a little funny.
Speaker 4 (12:22):
So yeah, I don't wish any major injury for you
or your squad.
Speaker 1 (12:26):
You know, I look at Danny Gena like any other time.
I always pull for his team out of kindness. But
if you miss, like a twenty four hour flu for
you rich if you missed the clip of a Rod
wanting to cover for Jeter and you want to hear
what we're talking about. This is them talking about the
easy path in life. Take a listen.
Speaker 5 (12:44):
You never want to say you haven't. You never have
an easy road to the World Series. But if the
Yankees could pick and choose their opponents, I think they
got the two that they would pick and choose because
of the success that they've had against Al Central.
Speaker 6 (12:58):
You don't have to say it. I'll say they have
an easy road the World Series. Look, it's never easy, right,
but this is the clearest path in twenty years.
Speaker 1 (13:06):
That's really it. The clearest path. Yeah, the clearest path.
Do you understand even Danny G's Dodgers, who won I
believe ninety eight games, how to battle it out with
the Padres who were hot.
Speaker 2 (13:17):
Now they got to play the Mets.
Speaker 4 (13:19):
There's a yeah, backs against the wall against the Padres twice, dude.
Speaker 1 (13:23):
Now they're going to New York tied up one one.
It seems like the NL is the AFC essentially where
there's just a lot of talent, where the Yankees are
like the Niners, just sort of being like unless we
screw it up. You gotta capitalize and you gotta be
the best at the moment. Like you could look back
and say, man, the klitch Coost really had an easy path.
(13:43):
There was no one else to really fight back. Then
it's like, well there was Yeah, there was no Tyson,
Yeah there was no Ali, but there was Lennox Lewis
and other guys. They had to get through, right. But
sometimes the clearest path benefits you. You just have to
be able to seize that moment and make it work
for you. But when you look back, there's so many
people that did benefit because the competition was weak in
that moment.
Speaker 2 (14:03):
What's up, Dan bayer.
Speaker 7 (14:05):
Rich, do you know that your Mets actually have a
clear path? Did you hear about the Brewers' stat with
the Mets?
Speaker 1 (14:11):
I think it's anyone that beats the Brewers in the
postseason ends up going all the way going to the
World Series.
Speaker 7 (14:18):
At least now obviously when they had the penance, you're
gonna if the Brewers, like in eighty two, they end
up or excuse me, in eighty one, they end up
playing the Yankees, and then the next year they end
up going to the World Series. Yankees are going to
go to the World Series. But Phillies, you know, it
started in two thousand and eight, and then you go
through of the path to the World Series in the
(14:39):
National League.
Speaker 1 (14:40):
The Brewers have always been a part of that.
Speaker 7 (14:42):
So when the Mets won, that's what everybody was saying
the first time around, like, oh, the Mets have their
destined path.
Speaker 1 (14:48):
I saw a favorable staff of the Mets too, because
you can find the stat for anything is there. You
could make stats work in your favor regardless. I saw
a stat that if you got blown out in Game
one of an AL or NLCS, if you got shut
out and blown out eight nothing, nine, nothing, ten, like
a big blowout, every one of the teams that got
blown out in game one went on to win the series.
(15:11):
So it's just it's a matter of in life, it
could be. It's not necessarily an easy path, but the
clearest path.
Speaker 5 (15:18):
I like that.
Speaker 1 (15:18):
I'll take that because to be at this level, you've
got to be great, so nothing's easy. You just have
to be able to deliver. So it's the clearest path.
Some people, even in life, have a clearer path than others.
You can't hate on it. That's just the good fortune. THEYGA,
So that could be an AFC team. Give me, give
me an AFC borderline playoff team that could could sneak in.
Speaker 2 (15:44):
Chargers Dolphins.
Speaker 1 (15:46):
I don't those Steelers, you know, I'm trying to think
like a low back end.
Speaker 7 (15:50):
I think that the Chargers could. I don't think that
teams are going to want to play the Chargers in
the playoffs for that point.
Speaker 1 (15:56):
So if they get in, I think that there could
be say the Jets to moves they right, yeah, bro,
we know, right. But let's just say the You know,
when you look at the seedings, if you're looking at
the seventh seed, that team may very well have to
face in their three playoff rounds to get to the
super Bowl. They might have to go through Josh Allen,
(16:16):
Lamar Jackson, and Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker 2 (16:19):
The AFC is so stacked, and I.
Speaker 1 (16:23):
Feel like the National League is similar in that Danny
G's Dodgers, who were dominant all year, have to beat
some pretty good teams just to get where the Yankees
are moonwalking. To embrace it, yeah, you gotta embrace it.
You gotta embrace it. You can hate on it or
embrace it.
Speaker 7 (16:39):
It's what also made it so difficult for quarterbacks outside
of Brady and Manning to break through those years because
you likely had to get through both of them at
least at some point. So, you know, typically cap to
the to the Steelers and their opportunities to do so.
But yeah, it's tough. That's what the Chiefs last year.
I felt like their road Like even though they the
(17:00):
Dolphins at home, we had always said that they've never
played a road playoff game.
Speaker 1 (17:03):
Okay, so go to Buffalo and Baltimore and.
Speaker 7 (17:05):
Win, and they did, and they played your forty nine,
you know, like, so you know they that was it.
Speaker 1 (17:11):
That was quite a path for them. Also made Tom
Brady's Bucks run spectacular because he he beat Breeze, Aaron Rodgers,
and Mahomes. Yeah. I mean, if that's not earning a
super Bowl trophy, you hoist that Lombardi Trophy with pride
after that, Taylor, Yeah, the first route barely got by, Yes,
(17:31):
But you know what, do you remember that they had
a clearer path or easier path when yeah, when all
was said and done, you're like, oh, they won and
that was it. You don't remember that, all right? Embrace it,
Embrace it, take advantage of it, seize the moment, all
that good stuff. Unlet's go a little chonkys and you
know what, if your Mets end up winning rich they
(17:51):
had a tougher path, they had the toughest path. You
feel a little more proud about that, you know, but
it's still the same feeling. No one's gonna remember that.
They're just gonna remember they won, except the super fans
that by the you know, do you buy a DVD anymore?
Speaker 2 (18:05):
Just stream it now the highlight video?
Speaker 1 (18:08):
Yeah. Alright, Well, hey, we got a lot to get to.
We're gonna focus a lot on NFL today. Guess Davante
Adams everyone's talking about. So I wanted to lead with
something else, but we're gonna get to Davante and Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 2 (18:17):
Is there hope in New York.
Speaker 1 (18:19):
We'll take a look at the schedule and sort of
see what the near future looks like. I can say
that the Jets are all in. Like Clark Griswold in Vegas,
did someone did did Aaron Rodgers take his watch off
throw it on the blackjack table? I'm gonna bet my watch.
They're all in, all in, and we'll discuss that plus
your chance to win a see in our Swiggy. Later
(18:39):
today we do some Iron Mike Trivia, Iron Mic Broke,

Bagels? There you go? Nah, what time you get there?
Speaker 2 (20:05):
I land at seven fifteen AM.
Speaker 1 (20:10):
Gotta get a bagel? Well, bagel action gonna be up
all damn excited. Hey, playoff baseball? Nothing better, NFL season,
nothing better, Kevin on Rich Shawn Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (20:21):
Nothing better.
Speaker 5 (20:22):
Now.
Speaker 2 (20:22):
To wrap up that last conversation, I have a simple
way to put it.
Speaker 1 (20:24):
Convi. You know, we were talking about how your Yankees
Jeter wouldn't say it, but a Rod would take a listen.
Speaker 5 (20:32):
You never want to say you have it. You never
have an easy road to the World Series. But if
the Yankees could pick and choose their opponents, I think
they got the two that they would pick and choose
because of the success that they've had against Al Central.
Speaker 6 (20:46):
You don't have to say it. I'll say they have
an easy road to the World Series. Hey, look, it's
never easy, right, but this is the clearest path in
twenty years yours.
Speaker 1 (20:55):
Thank you, A Rod speaking truth, New York Baby Concrete,
John wet Dream to May. Oh, there's nothing you can't do.
The lyrics, Yeah, but to wrap up what we were saying,
when you have that clear path, no matter what it
is in life, it could be Listen, the girl you're
(21:16):
crushing on, you might think I have to put all
this effort for all you know, she's like I tonight me.
And you don't ask questions If the job you want,
you're thinking, you're not gonna have to go through layers
and layers of interviews and the whole process.
Speaker 2 (21:28):
Hey do you want the job? Yeah, don't ask questions.
Speaker 1 (21:31):
Yeah. But you also can't hate on people that have
that clearer path. If they're capitalizing on it, then good
that person. That team is so many people that hate
for no reason because they struggled a little harder, Like
how many old school homosexual people hate on new school
homosexual people because they have you can not get easier people,
I think, yeah, but not an easier path, a clearer
(21:53):
maybe a clearer path than they have. I've always thought
that in the gay community there could be older gay
people that are like sort of like bitter, like life
is way easier than what I was, you know, and
we knew them personally. So that's just from experience. So
don't when you see someone or you're the person with
a clearer path, don't ask questions. I guess that it
could be the girl you're crushing on the job, you
(22:14):
want the dude. You might be looking for a house
and you're like, wait, I put in the best offer,
so you're saying I got the house. Don't ask questions.
Take the opportunity that you're blessed with and roll with
it the moment. If you're the Yankees and you have
the easiest path ever to the World Series or it's clearest, yeah,
just none of it's easy. You know, get your oversized
(22:36):
Yankee jersey ready like Cavino, put your sweatshirt on, through it,
and get ready for October baseball. Hell yeah, Cavino and

let's uh, let's move along from baseball playoffs to NFL football.
(23:21):
You're seeing it everywhere this morning. Who's not talking about
Aaron Rodgers getting what he wants?
Speaker 3 (23:26):
Right?
Speaker 1 (23:26):
Well, let's backtrack a little bit and say the Jets
blew that game. The Jets were jetting, they had every
chance to win that game. And they'll tell us that
Aaron Rodgers doesn't have any pull because I guarantee you
that the field goal kickers gone. If he doesn't wanting
to play, there's no way that guy is not getting
Greig's Airlines. Aaron, there were windy conditions, I know, but
(23:50):
don't tell me that.
Speaker 2 (23:52):
You know, he's not.
Speaker 1 (23:53):
Happily he did get Mike Williams booted. Well that's where
I was going. By the way, I think Greg's Airline
sent Aaron Rodgers in edible arrangements, just how to smooth
it over. Like I'm sorry, Aaron Rodgers can't hide his discontent,
how unhappy he is with the way the team's playing.
I'm not saying he should be happy, but he really
(24:15):
wears it on his face, and I can't feel good
for his teammates. It's just the eye test. That's just
what I notice, right or wrong. I mean, I'm looking
at highlights now and all you see is him looking
aggravated and frustrated. And if that's what it takes to
get things to happen, then hey, it worked because like
Danny g said, Mike Williams out. You know what he
(24:35):
looks Fante Adams, And you know what it reminds me of.
You know when you clean up your house and your
kids immediately make a mess after, like you just folded
the bike, gets fluffed, the pillows and your kids just
make a mess. You give that look that you know,
the famous Ben Affleck meme where he's smoking a cigarette
with his eyes closed. Of course with that blue sweater on.
He's got man boobies. He's just that feeling where you know,
(24:57):
you close your eyes and you take a deep breath
with that's that's the Aaron Rodgers default Jets face. But
when all cameras are on you and you're Aaron Rodgers,
you know that people are going to pick up on
that body language. But guess what, he's getting what he wanted.
Jets are all in with DeVonta Adams. And guess what
the Raiders. Dannyg's Raiders sort of got what they wanted to.
(25:22):
The Jets took on the entire salary. That was the
big part of the deal here. And if Devontae Adams
correct me if I'm wrong here, Danny G. If DeVante
Adams makes All Pro or if he's on the AFC
Championship roster or makes it, or they make the Super Bowl,
the Raiders get a second round pick. If he doesn't,
they get a third place yeah pick.
Speaker 4 (25:44):
If he's a Pro Bowl starter or backup, or he's
on the active roster for the postseason.
Speaker 1 (25:48):
There there you go. So they sort of covered themselves there,
Raiders making moves, Jets making moves, and I think this
is going to work to the Jets benefit. Now I
think things could change, but there's still that stigma or
something about the Jets where no matter what they do,
they're still the Jets.
Speaker 2 (26:06):
That's really weird.
Speaker 1 (26:07):
Dan Byern had said it like a week ago, and
we had discussed, and I feel like we're sort of
on the pulse of this story. Joe Douglas Jets GM
unless Woody Johnson puts the Kye Bosch on any move.
Joe Douglas realized my days are numbered if nothing happens.
So I'm going all in right right now. All in,
(26:28):
and all in means sacrificing a little bit of the
future because you have Aaron Rodgers. Now, you got Aaron Rodgers,
not as a seat filler. You didn't get Aaron Rodgers
to be like, oh, look, fans have got a future
Hall of Famer.
Speaker 2 (26:41):
And he's clearly not happy with what he's got.
Speaker 1 (26:43):
Aaron Rodgers came with an expectation that for the first
time since Mark Sanchez and Rex Ryan the Jets were
a playoff team, They're two and four. Joe Douglas is
like he's in Vegas and he has an eleven at
the blackjack table. He doesn't know if they're gonna flip
a ten or king or queen. He just said, you
know what, I'm doubling down, pushes in all his chips
(27:06):
and that's where we're at right now. And when you
look at the Jets schedule, they have a lot of
winnable games coming up, and that AFC Danny we've talked about,
maybe ten and seven is enough to get you that wildcard.
Eight and three is what they'd have to do. Look
at their schedule. I think they can if if they
get better. Listen to Aaron Rodgers take on this.
Speaker 3 (27:25):
A little bit, and now this move lets everybody know, Hey,
it's on us now because we're going all in and
it's our time to go out there and win games,
get on a run, which you know we all feel
deep down is going to have. Obviously really excited Loveday.
He's a phenomenal player and a dear friend. He was
a crappy day yesterday. Obviously we had a real good
(27:46):
chance to get to three and three and win a
home game. Kind of gave that one away. I was
pissed driving home through traffic, had a couple of messages.
I was just not in the mood to talk to anybody.
Got home and Ted called me, so I finally called
them back. And it's about two forty five last night,
and I heard the news.
Speaker 1 (28:07):
I don't hear anyone else call them Tay. They they
must like they have like pet names for each other.
I love it. Jets are all in. It's obvious. It's
like I said, it's very much like you're in Vegas.
You got a few chips left, and you're like, defit.
You take your like I said, you take your watch
off like you Clark Griswold, you throw it on the table.
Speaker 2 (28:29):
I bet my watch too.
Speaker 1 (28:30):
But it's gotta be the right people. And I ask you, Rich, Danny,
Sam Buyer, Fox Sports Radio Nation, are these the two
guys to change the culture and that stigma that the
Jets seem to have?
Speaker 2 (28:45):
You know, I always use the analogy, but for me,
it's a good one.
Speaker 1 (28:47):
There's always that local place that no matter what opens
up there, it closes down in like two months, and
people are like, I don't know what it is about
this spot, but whatever business opens up. It never lasts.
I think it's the parking yourself something I don't know.
Eventually one place comes along and it becomes a success
for me. That guy's Lindor for your Mets. I think
(29:08):
he changed the entire vibe of the team, him and
a few other characters on that team. But is Aaron
Rodgers and Devanty Adams really what's gonna change the Jets culture?
Speaker 2 (29:18):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (29:18):
I'm not rooting against it, but I'd like to see it.
What happened to that Froyo place? Oh?
Speaker 2 (29:23):
You know it closed down? It usued to be a
Robin place?
Speaker 1 (29:26):
Right? Hey? Yeah, but that closed down too?
Speaker 2 (29:27):
Isn't pizzeria?
Speaker 1 (29:29):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (29:29):
But that closed down. I don't know what it is.
Speaker 1 (29:31):
It must be the spot spot man, It's just I
don't know. And then eventually, like I said, some sandwich
shop opens up and it flourished. That els yeah fast, Wow,
finally it finally took off. It finally is bringing in
some customers, and they they rearranged a parking situation.
Speaker 2 (29:48):
I don't know what it was.
Speaker 1 (29:49):
You know, dude, you put a good product out there,
but you need that right product. You need that right guy.
I think Lindor is the guy that prevents the Mets
from metting. Is Rogers with Adams gonna be what prevents
the Jets from jetting. That's really what you got to
ask yourself. I said, well said. And you know, sometimes,
(30:10):
Danny g you're on the other end of this as
a Raiders fan and Raiders Nation in Vegas and Oakland
and the Bay Area Raiders Nation. Sometimes what feels like
the move where like, man, we lost our guy. Sometimes
that move in the long run is like perfect, awesome
if it wasn't gonna work for us now. I'll give
you an example, and it's it's near to me because
(30:32):
I'm a Mets fan. When the Mets gave up Max
Scherzer in the middle of a failed season a year ago,
is like.
Speaker 2 (30:38):
Yo, you just got him. You dealt Cherzer, Good riddance.
Speaker 1 (30:42):
You know that. What felt like the Mets just giving
up and getting rid of Scherzer they got for nothing.
Luis on Hill Acunya, Little Acunya was like a highly
touted prospect that was like, yeah, yeah, give them Mets
a Cunya.
Speaker 2 (30:56):
We're getting Schurzer.
Speaker 1 (30:57):
Chures is done and Acuna's got is big bro swing.
So he's so good. I mean, sometimes, like the Raider,
fan should also be like sometimes there could be two
winners in a deal, and it seems to be the
case as of now. But let's also point out the
fact that what Rogers is doing, I'm not comparing them.
People get their panties in a bunch when I say this,
not comparing them. But doesn't it seem like he does
(31:18):
have more power than he alluded to last week where
he's calling the shots. He gets Devonte Adams, Mike Williams
is out, he calls him out. Now he's out. He
has more power than he alluded to. I mean, he's
getting what he wants, and granted he should, he's the quarterback.
But when Lebron James is getting the players he wants
and he's playing GM, it doesn't always seem to work.
Speaker 2 (31:40):
I mean, it's so obvious.
Speaker 1 (31:42):
I mean three names, Randall, Cobb, Allan Lazard, Devonte Adams.
I mean, without adding a little green to a little
yellow and gold to the Jets uniform, he's trying to
recreate the Packers. Not saying he didn't earn it, not
saying Lebron didn't earn it, But it seems like when
dudes like that, call the shots and they get what
they want. It doesn't always equal, you know, success. Yeah,
(32:03):
so we'll see not wishing anything against him. I think
the positive here, because let's try to be positive, is
the Jets are all in. They got what they want
and it'll be fun to watch where they go from here.
Danny real fun and Danny G's Raiders got what they want.
What are you feeling about this?
Speaker 4 (32:19):
I feel like this is all the Atlanta Falcons fault
because they surprised everybody, including us, when they took Michael
Pennox Junior off the bar. This would have been a
fun season watching Pennix Junior air it out with Devonte Adams. Instead,
we have a couple of backups there in Las Vegas
at quarterback of the old saying two quarterbacks equaled nine
(32:40):
and all that. And it's just been a tough ride.
I loved watching Davante in a Raiders' uniform. I'm gonna
miss miss him. But yeah, if Telesco can keep drafting
some real pros, like the couple of offensive linemen that
he struck Gold with, then at least I'm a little
more confident going into the next draft.
Speaker 1 (32:58):
Now I was traveling from Idaho to La So I
missed some social media hype. But you told me Rich
that there was a clip of DeVante Adams like just
chilling with Rogers on Pat McAfee.
Speaker 2 (33:11):
I didn't see when he did his weekly hit. That
was what earlier today.
Speaker 1 (33:14):
That's so funny, man, the little noise and all of
a sudden you see DeVante poke his head like what's huh?
And you know what, maybe that brings more of a
fun vibe and more of a winning vibe with the Jets.
I'm excited to see what happens. Let's go to dB
and then I want to break down what the Jets
have over the next month. We'll see where we're at.
What's up, Debaus.
Speaker 7 (33:31):
This is what DeVante Adams had to say when he
made an appearance during Aaron Rodgers appearance on the Pat
McAfee show.
Speaker 3 (33:38):
You know, I was working with the with the staff
over in in Vegas the whole time, and they got
me back right.
Speaker 1 (33:43):
So you know, fortunately I'll be able to roll Adam's
wissing in the last few games of that ham string.
Speaker 2 (33:49):
He's ready now though, yes, miraculous.
Speaker 7 (33:52):
The Jets gave up a conditional third round pick that
could be a second round pick if Adams becomes a
first or second team i'll pro or if the Jets
advanced to the AFC Championship Game or Super Bowl with
Adams on their roster. Pro Football Talk says the Jets
are shopping wide receiver Mike Williams. Jets also have given
permission to a Son Reddick to seek a trade elsewhere
as he continues to hold out. That's according to the
(34:13):
Athletic Brown said wide receiver Amari Cooper to the Bills
for a third round pick, and the team's also swapped
late round selections. The Bills today released wide receiver Marquez
Valdez Scantling Steelers said coach Mike Tomlin said Russell Wilson
is under consideration to start Sunday against the Jets. Justin
Fields got to start the first six games, going four
and two. Tomlin says you could see both coming up
on Sunday night. NFL owners meetings wrapping up in Atlanta,
(34:37):
Tom Brady's minority ownership share of the Raiders was approved.
Jaguars new stadium on the side of their current facility
has been approved. They could begin play there as soon
as twenty twenty eight and Super Bowl sixty two will
be held in Atlanta in February of twenty twenty eight.
Couple of other notes. Seventy six Ers forward Paul George
is a bone bruise and his knee. He'll be re
(34:58):
evaluated in a week. Sixers open the season a week
from tomorrow against the Box in Game two tonight, Yankees
home to the Guardians seven thirty Eastern times. The Yankees
are up one l in the American League Championship Series. Guys,
back to you, hey, Dan Byer.
Speaker 1 (35:11):
Because of the whole Rogers Davante story, have we been?
Has that buried? The Amari Cooper to Buffalo because he's
only thirty, he's a star?
Speaker 2 (35:20):
Call him Coopy? Sure, Amari Cooper? What do you think
I mean?
Speaker 1 (35:25):
I could move?
Speaker 7 (35:26):
No, I think it's a huge move. I actually think
that that move will change more of the standings than
even the Devanta Adams move.
Speaker 1 (35:32):
With the Jets. Well, we'll discuss that a little more
and look ahead at the Jets m bill schedule and
see what the AFC East looks like. All next right
here on Covino and Rich, Welcome back to the show.
STP Love it, Thank you, Iowa, Samuel taking it back
on a Taco Tuesday, Covino and Rich on Fox Sports Radio.
(35:56):
Everything at Covino and Rich on social media if you
want to play along at home. A bunch of new videos,
new clips, all the time, clips from our Patreon if
you're interested. We do a Patreon every afternoon Monday through Thursday.
And of course our favorite part of the day these
two hours with you and Danny g and Sam and
dB and the Fox Sports Radio Nation. I was talking
(36:16):
to new Brandon, Well that's great, man, you got a
show to do, one of the editors.
Speaker 2 (36:21):
Now we're talking about the forty nine ers.
Speaker 1 (36:22):
Yes, I'm saying, what's up? Dv uh Just Covino. This
is again why I'm a Covino guy. Rich brings it up.
Speaker 7 (36:30):
It's like a forty nine er sandwich because I'm the
Seahawks fan and all they're doing is talk very Thursday night. Yeah,
back on the right track, right, yeah, yeah, yeah, you know,
like and I'm I'm in the middle of it, him
me hearing in both ears, like it was just this
whole conversation of what do you do with friends and
rubbing it in like that's subtle, rubbing.
Speaker 1 (36:48):
It in just the annoying nature of what makes Rich
Davis rich David. Hold on, if you got your twenty
three and me back, you're definitely like sixty percent annoying
and then and you're kind of nice and everything else.
Thanks man, But yeah, him and Brandon playing slap pass
in the hallway, Well no, I felt bet that dB
was there. And then I complimented Dan by telling him
(37:11):
what a great guy.
Speaker 2 (37:12):
And I'm like, oh, man, but.
Speaker 1 (37:16):
Great, he's a Niners fan, yea. And see to show
that I'm not a Homer. We were just saying that
seems like smart money this week would be Chiefs money line.
The Niners are favored over Kansas City in the Bay
Area in Santa Clara, and I listen, you don't think
me as a forty nine per cent is like sweet?
Let's you know, how do you get revenge from a
(37:38):
super Bowl loss? It's so insignificant, like Week seven compared
to the super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (37:42):
But I don't know why the Niners are favored. It's
a mystery to me.
Speaker 1 (37:46):
I really think that I would never bet against my team,
but I think the smart money is on Kansas City.
Speaker 2 (37:52):
I mean, I hate to.
Speaker 1 (37:53):
Say it, you don't you feel that a little bit
like you. You take the Niners over Kansas City right now,
the Niners look like they can't finish and Kansas City
looks like they can't lose. No, Yeah, I actually I
agree with you. Plus you've been hot man. Yeah. And
how's that New York City parlay? Oh that's a good side.
Little quick minute. Remember we talked yesterday about my New
(38:16):
York parlay, meaning yesterday we bet Mets, Yankees, Rangers, Islanders,
and then we said, let's leverage it by doing Bills
and Jets and two separate ones because they're both New
York teams. Yeah, I added the Liberty. So it's a
six leg parlay five for five so far, the New
(38:36):
York Liberty Place tonight and a fifteen dollars parlay pays
out close to six hundred bucks. That's crazy, And I'm
trying to decide if I want to, Oh it's tomorrow,
Sam Liberty, Liberty, Liberty.
Speaker 4 (38:48):
Imagine if it's the WNBA team that kills your parlay, and.
Speaker 2 (38:52):
It would be because I've mocked them.
Speaker 1 (38:54):
Yeah, but that's not a bad deal because I was
the guy that said katl Cork's out. No one cares
so I'm going with you because you've been hot. Well,
so here's the question, do you roll with it or not?
If you're you know, doing your thing DraftKings Code see
our show. If they said all right, you're fifteen dollars parlay,
I think they offered me three forty on the payout,
or I could say, now I'm gonna roll with it.
(39:16):
I think it's five ninety. Oh, I say, go for
Who are the Liberty playing? Iowa Sam?
Speaker 2 (39:21):
The links?
Speaker 1 (39:22):
The links there, yep, series. I don't know Rich minniso
Minnesota Links. I don't know anything about the links. Oh yeah,
the links man, I don't know. Liberty are three and
a half point favorites. Okay, so Liberty our favorite? So
I got the money line on the favorite. I think
you go for it for thirteen bucks. You don't think
you know about got to be all in?
Speaker 2 (39:40):
Like the Jets. What do you know about links? The
stupid Guido chain you have her.
Speaker 1 (39:43):
On your next link link that is the figural link,
the figure out link cube Rocky is a Turtles name
link link.
Speaker 2 (39:50):
Yeah, so yeah, I think something you know about links.
Speaker 1 (39:53):
You gotta be all in is the point Rich, like
the Jets, And I think we could wrap this up
like the Jets. Who By the way, if you've seen
the photoshops of Aaron Rodgers and Devonte Adams in the
Jets uniforms, they look good, man. Nothing is like the Raiders,
Danny g but they look good and green.
Speaker 4 (40:10):
I will have seen the new green Jets logo, but
it says Packers.
Speaker 3 (40:13):
I did.
Speaker 1 (40:13):
I've seen that too, By the way, just to give
you a little heads up the next month, the next
four weeks for the Jets, Steelers winnable, Patriots definitely winnable. Yep. Texans,
that's a tough game. And then the Cardinals winnable. So
the Jets could go three and one. The Jets get
all that they wanted. The Raiders got what they wanted.
The Jets took the salary, so props to them. And
(40:37):
I can't wait but go after the Jets should be
five and five after ten and then you reassess from there.
So you win three the next four again, Steelers, Pats,
Cardinals yes, maybe, Texans no, So we shall see more.
Covin on rich, your feedback, your thoughts on an action
packed Tuesday show, Fox Sports Radio
