(00:24):
in which your path is easy. This happens in every
sport NBA, NHL, football, baseball, you name it. Sometimes a
fighter could win a championship because he just has to
beat like the interim guy that just got the belt.
And what I'm saying is the path sometimes is the
most important. Oh and you got to beat the team
(00:45):
that's in front of you. You know, sometimes you don't
make the schedule. Even in the NFL season, it's like, yeah,
but it was an easy win. You know, a win's
a win. You're supposed to win those games. Got to
capitalize on those moments. I mean that year where the
Eagles went to the Super Bowl. I'm not saying they
didn't deserve it. Jalen Hurts came up a little short,
but that year they beat a Niners team where Rock
(01:07):
Purdy got hurt on the first play and not the
first play the first you know quarter, and sometimes your
team is just blessed with whoa the good team got
eliminated before we even played them. M hm. The Yankees
are used to dealing with Altuve and Springer and all
those you know the Astros, those familiar Astro's names, or
even those ridiculous rivalries with the Red Sox. The simple
(01:31):
fact that your Yankees could get to the World Series
by beating, in my opinion, like the good teams, like
the Royals and the Guardians, good teams, but they owned
the Central, so they had the Central's numbers, so it
is an easier path. Even though Derek Cheter didn't want
to necessarily admit that, Hey geez, what do you think
(01:52):
and he didn't want to say it. A Ron's like,
I'll say it, an I'll say it. They got an
easier path through the World Series, they do, and when
you have there's no real easy path because you still
have to deliver, you still have to capitalize. But we
all understand what it means. Agreed, you could only play
who's in front of you. And that's why I hate
when people say, well, your team's a soft you know
(02:13):
five and one in the NFL or something. Well, you
don't choose your schedule. That's another layer of this. But
when you do have an easy path, that's when you
really hope your team capitalizes. You know, as an NFC fan,
as a Niners fan, I think the AFC is so
much stronger that I always keep talking about how the
forty Niners window of winning is closing, because eventually there'll
(02:35):
be a rebound. But right now, when I said, give
me the best teams in quarterbacks, you'd say, oh, mahomes
Lamar Jackson. You know Burrow may turn it around. Josh
Allen with Buffalo. That whole AFC has to battle it out. Well,
what if the Niners had to do like beat the Lions.
Lions are the team to be right good? But yeah,
you know what I'm saying, Like, there's just a simpler path,
(02:58):
and that's the Yankees right now. Is the truth. If
you're a Mets fan, which I am, do you realize
what you had to do now? You put yourself in
that scenario by being a wild card. But the forty
nine Ers, their path is easy. That's my football team,
my baseball team. The Mets had to go figure out
what they were doing in Atlanta. The Lindor home run
they got them into the playoffs. Then the Dramatics repeat
(03:19):
Alonzo and Milwaukee three games on the road. Then they
had to beat their division rivals, the Phillies. Now they
have a battle with Danny G's Dodgers. To even make
it to the World Series, the Mets had to jump
through multiple circus hoops. I think the same applies in
life too, when you try to compare your path to
someone else's path. Everybody's path is different, and just because
(03:40):
someone had an easier path, it's not their fault. It's
not their problem. It's a matter of them capitalizing on it. Though.
There's some radio broadcasters that worked in ten small market
cities before they made it to New York, La, Chicago, Miami.
Rich was on I'll Brag for you. Rich rich was
on New York City radio number one market as the
(04:00):
nighttime hottie, and I thought, that's funny. The number one
market in New York City Z one hundred at like nineteen.
People work their entire career to get that opportunity. Now
you get hate on Richard, you can say, hey man,
good for him. It's what you do with that opportunity
and do it that moment. The point is everybody in
life has a different path. In their own path does
(04:21):
a matter of what they do. It's a matter of
what they do with it. And the same in sports.
You can only play who's in front of you and
make the best of it. And the same with the Yankees.
And I think it's true they have an easier path,
but they still have to get passed through this so
past the Indians and then beat either the Dodgers or
the Mets to be the champions. Now you could argue
(04:41):
that this is, like you said, in every aspect of life,
and what do they always say? Success is luck combined
with being prepared for the moment, right. I mean brock
Party is a great example. There's quarterbacks like brock Party,
that Tom Brady that thought I may never start really
(05:02):
playing the NFL. An injury a couple. You know, balls
bounce a certain way, you get your chance, you capitalize
on that chance. And now brock Purty's gonna end up
making fifty sixty million dollars a year. If you would
have asked brock Party, mister irrelevant last pick of the
draft a couple of years ago. Hey, Brock, do you
think in like three years you'll make sixty million dollars
a year? Yeah, but there is such a difference of
(05:24):
getting an opportunity to be a young quarterback on a
great team, any young quarterback on a struggling team. Dude,
look at Sam. I saw an article about is Sam
Donald gonna be a guy that because of this season
if he keeps it up and then the Viking's going
to run postseason have some success. Is Sam Darnald gonna
(05:44):
get paid? But my point is you can't hate on
the guys that got that lucky opportunity because you still
have to bring it. A Lah Brady, a lah Purdy.
So there you have it. Like I said, a Rod
wasn't scared to admit that the Yankee have the easier path.
I'm a fan and they do. But I'll take it
every day you have to take. You have to capitalize.
(06:05):
That's the point of this, I mean discussion. I was
happy for you last night, yeah, being that you were
rooting for your Yanks, but I don't feel like Cleveland
was ever really in that game, and tonight you got
Garrett Cole pitching. I just think we're at a point
now where you should be pumping your fist filing. But
to me, it's like the Yankees are gonna be in
the World Series. It's just a matter of who has
(06:26):
it more. My Mets are Danny G's Dodgers, because if
the Guardians are in the World Series, I'd be shocked.
You don't want to celebrate too soon. The Guardians still
have a chance. They're a stacked squad. They got some
superstars there, great bullpens, some great hitters, some maybe future
Hall of famers. But the Yankees should beat them, and
they should be in the World Series. And whether it's
(06:48):
the Mets or the Dodgers, man, it's gonna be a
great one. Let me ask you, being that you follow closely,
and you and I while we are palace, this is
a battle week for us, you know, it's it's it's
a week where you and I are looking at each
they're a little funny.
Speaker 2 (07:02):
So yeah, I don't wish any major injury for you
or your squad.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
You know, I look at Danny g Anda like any
other time. I always pull for his team out of kindness.
But if you missed like a twenty four hour flu
for you rich if you missed the clip of a
Rod wanting to cover for Jeter, and you want to
hear what we're talking about. This is them talking about
the easy path in life. Take a listen.
Speaker 3 (07:24):
You never want to say you haven't. You never have
an easy road to the World Series. But if the
Yankees could pick and choose their opponents, I think they
got the two that they would pick and choose because
of the success that they've had against Al Central.
Speaker 1 (07:37):
You don't have to say it. I'll say they have
an easy road to the World Series. Look, it's never easy, right,
but this is the clearest path in twenty years. That's
really it. The clearest path. Yeah, the clearest path. Do
you understand even Danny G's Dodgers, who won I believe
ninety eight games, how to battle it out with the
Padres who were hot. Now they got to play the Mets.
Speaker 2 (07:59):
There's a yeah, backs against the wall against the Padres twice, dude.
Speaker 1 (08:02):
Now they're going to New York tied up one one.
It seems like the NL is the AFC essentially, where
there's just a lot of talent, where the Yankees are
like the Niners, just sort of being like, U, let's
we screw it up. There, you gotta capitalize and you
gotta be the best at the moment. Like you could
look back and say, man, the Clitch cost really had
an easy path. There was no one else to really
(08:24):
fight back. Then it's like, well there was Yeah, there
was no Tyson, Yeah there was no Ali, but there
was Lennox Lewis and other guys. They had to get through, right.
But sometimes the clearest path benefits you. You just have
to be able to seize that moment and make it
work for you. But when you look back, there's so
many people that did benefit because the competition was weak
in that moment.
Speaker 4 (08:42):
What's up, Dan bayer Rich, do you know that your
Mets actually have a clear path? Did you hear about
the Brewer's stat with the Mets.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
I think it's anyone that beats the Brewers in the
postseason ends up going all the way.
Speaker 4 (08:56):
Going to the World Series. At least now obviously when
they had the penance. You're gonna if the Brewers, like
in eighty two, they end up or excuse me, in
eighty one, they end up playing the Yankees, and then
the next year they end up going to the World Series.
Yankees are going to go to the World Series. But Phillies,
you know, it started in two thousand and eight, and
then you go through of the path to the World
(09:17):
Series in the National League. The Brewers have always been
a part of that. So when the Mets won, that's
what everybody was saying the first time around, like, oh,
the Mets have their destined path.
Speaker 1 (09:28):
I saw a favorable staff for the Mets too, because
you can find the stat for anything is there there
You could make stats work in your favor regardless. I
saw a stat that if you got blown out in
Game one of an AL or NLCS, if you got
shut out and blown out eight nothing, nine, nothing, ten,
like a big blowout, every one of the teams that
got blown out in game one went on to win
the series. Ooh no, So it's just it's a matter
(09:53):
of in life, it could be. It's not necessarily an
easy path, but the clearest path. I like that. I'll
take that, because to be a this level you've got
to be great. So nothing's easy. You just have to
be able to deliver. So it's the clearest path. Some people,
even in life, have a clearer path than others. You
can't hate on it. That's just the good fortune. THEGA alright,
(10:13):
so that could be an AFC team. Give me an
AFC borderline playoff team that could could sneak in Chargers Dolphins.
I don't those Steelers, you don't. I'm trying to think
like a low back end. I think that the Chargers could.
Speaker 4 (10:29):
I don't think that teams are going to want to
play the Chargers in the playoffs for that point.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
So if they get in, I think that there could
be You can say the Jets with the moves they yeah, bro,
we know, all right, but let's just say the You know,
when you look at the seedings, if you're looking at
the seventh seed, that team may very well have to
face in their three playoff rounds to get to the
super Bowl. They might have to go through Josh Allen,
(10:54):
Lamar Jackson, and Patrick Mahomes. The AFC is so stacked,
and I feel like the National League is similar in
that Danny G's Dodgers, who were dominant all year, have
to beat some pretty good teams just to get where
the Yankees are moonwalking to. I love embrace it. Yeah,
you got to embrace it. You gotta embrace it. You
(11:15):
can hate on it or embrace it.
Speaker 4 (11:17):
It's what also made it so difficult for quarterbacks outside
of Brady and Manning to break through those years because
you likely had to get through both of them at
least at at some point. So you know, typically cap
to the to the Steelers and their opportunities to do so.
But yeah, it's tough. That's what the Chiefs last year,
I felt like their road Like, even though they had
(11:37):
the Dolphins at home, we had always said that they've
never played a road playoff game. Okay, so go to
Buffalo and Baltimore and win. And they did, and they
played your forty nine, you know, like, so you know
they that was it. That was quite a path for them.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
Also made Tom Brady's Bucks run spectacular because he he
beat Breeze, Aaron Rodgers, and Mahomes. Yeah. I mean, if
that's not earning a super Bowl trophy, you hoist that
Lombardi Trophy with pride after that. The first route barely
got by, yes, but you know what, do you remember
that they had a clearer path or easier path when yeah,
(12:15):
when all sudden and done, you're like, oh, they won
and that was it. You don't remember that, all right?
Embrace it, Embrace it, take advantage of it, seize the moment,
all that good stuff. Unlet's go a little Chonkis and
you know what, if your Mets end up winning rich
they had a tougher path, they had the toughest path.
You feel a little more proud about that, you know,
but it's still the same feeling. No one's gonna remember that.
(12:36):
They're just gonna remember they won, except the super fans.
By the you know, the do buy a DVD anymore?
Just stream it now highlight video. Yeah, let's uh, let's
move along from baseball playoffs to NFL football. You're seeing
it everywhere this morning. Who's not talking about Aaron Rodgers
(12:59):
getting what he Well, let's backtrack a little bit and
say the Jets blew that game. The Jets were jetting,
They had every chance to win that game. And they'll
tell us that Aaron Rodgers doesn't have any pull because
I guarantee you that the field goal kicker is gone.
He don't wanting to play. There's no way that guy
is not getting Greg's alines conditions. I know, but don't
(13:25):
tell me that. You know, he's not happy he did
get Mike Williams booted. Well, that's where I was going.
And by the way, I think Greg's airlines sent Aaron
Rodgers an edible arrangement, just just how to smooth it over.
Like I'm sorry, Aaron Rodgers can't hide his his his discontent,
how unhappy he is with the with the way the
(13:45):
team's playing. I'm not saying he should be happy, but
he really wears it on his face, and I can't
feel good for his teammates. It's just the eye test.
That's just what I noticed, right or wrong. I mean,
I'm looking at highlights now and all you see is
him looking aggravated and frustrated. And if that's what it
takes to get things to happen, then hey, it worked because,
(14:05):
like Danny g said, Mike Williams out, you know what
he looks Vante Adams in. You know what it reminds
me of. You know when you clean up your house
and your kids immediately make a mess after, like you
just folded the bike, gets fluffed the pillows, Yeah you did,
and your kids just make a mess. You give that
look that you know, the famous Ben Affleck meme where
he's spoke in a cigarette with his eyes closed. Of course,
(14:28):
with that blue sweater on. He's got man boobies. He's
that feeling where you know, you close your eyes and
you take a deep breath. That's that's the Aaron Rodgers
default Jets face. But when all cameras are on you
and you're Aaron Rodgers, you know that people are going
to pick up on that body language. But guess what,
he's getting what he wanted. Jets are all in with
(14:50):
the Vonte Adams and guess what the Raiders. Dannyg's Raiders
sort of got what they wanted to. The Jets took
on the entire salary. That was the big part of
the the deal here. And if Devonte Adams correct me
if I'm wrong here, Danny G. If Davonte Adams makes
All Pro or if he's on the AFC Championship roster
(15:10):
or makes it or they make the Super Bowl, the
Raiders get a second round pick. If he doesn't, they
get a third place yeah pick.
Speaker 2 (15:17):
Yeah, if he's a Pro Bowl starter or backup, or
he's on the active roster for the postseason.
Speaker 1 (15:22):
There there you go. So they sort of covered themselves there.
Raiders making moves, Jets making moves. And I think this
is going to work to the Jets benefit. Now I
think things could change, but there's still that stigma or
something about the Jets where no matter what they do,
they're still the Jets. That's really weird. Dan Bayern had
said it like a week ago, and we had discussed,
(15:44):
and I feel like we're sort of on the pulse
of this story. Joe Douglas Jets GM unless Woody Johnson
puts the ky Bosch on any move. Joe Douglas realized,
my days are numbered if nothing happens, So I'm going
all in right right now. All in and all in
means sacrificing a little bit of the future because you
(16:06):
have Aaron Rodgers. Now, you got Aaron Rodgers not as
a seat filler. You didn't get Aaron Rodgers to be like, oh, look,
fans have got a future Hall of Famer, and he's
clearly not happy with what he's got. Aaron Rodgers came
with an expectation that for the first time since Mark
Sanchez and Rex Ryan, the Jets were a playoff team.
They're two and four. Joe Douglas is like, he's in
(16:27):
Vegas and he has an eleven at the blackjack table.
He doesn't know if they're gonna flip a ten or
king or queen. He just said, you know what, I'm
doubling down, pushes in all his chips and that's where
we're at right now. And when you look at the
Jets schedule, they have a lot of winnable games coming up,
and that AFC Danny we've talked about, maybe ten and
seven is enough to get you that wildcard eight and
(16:50):
three is what they'd have to do. Look at their schedule.
I think they can if they get better. Listen to
Aaron Rodgers take on this a little bit, and.
Speaker 5 (17:00):
Now this move lets everybody know, Hey, it's on us
now because we're going all in and it's our time
to go out there and win games, get on a run,
which you know we all feel deep down that's going
to happen. Obviously, I'm really excited Loveday. He's a phenomenal
player and a dear friend. He was a crappy day yesterday.
Obviously we had a real good chance to get to
(17:21):
three and three and win a home game. Kind of
give that one away. I was pissed driving home through traffic,
had a couple of messages. I was just not in
the mood to talk to anybody got home and Tay
had called me, so I finally called him back. And
it's so about two po forty five last night I
heard the news.
Speaker 1 (17:41):
I don't hear anyone else call him Tay. They they
must like they have like pet names for each other.
I love it, and Jets are all in. It's obvious.
It's like I said, it's very much like you're in Vegas.
You got a few chips left and you're like definite
all you like I said, you take your watch off
(18:01):
like you Clark Griswold, you throw it on the table
like I bet my watch too. But it's gotta be
the right people. And I ask you, Rich, Danny Sam Buyer,
Fox Sports Radio Nation, are these the two guys to
change the culture and that stigma that the Jets seem
to have? You know, I always use the analogy, but
for me, it's a good one. There's always that local
(18:22):
place that no matter what opens up there, it closes
down in like two months. And people are like, I
don't know what it is about this spot, but whatever
business opens up, it never lasts. I think it's the
parking or something. I don't know. Eventually one place comes
along and it becomes a success for me. That guy's
Lindor for your Mets. I think he changed the entire
(18:43):
vibe of the team, him and a few other characters
on that team. But is Aaron Rodgers and Devanty Adams
really what's gonna change the Jets culture? I don't know.
I'm not rooting against it, but I'd like to see it.
What happened to that froyo place? Oh? You know it
closed down? It uhould be a Robin player, right hey? Yeah?
But that closed down to pizzeria? Yeah, but that closed down?
(19:04):
I know what it is. It must be the spot
spot man. It's just I don't know. And then eventually,
like I said, some sandwich shop opens up and it flourished.
That els yeah fas wow, finally it finally took off.
It finally is bringing in some customers, and they they
rearranged a parking situation. I don't know what it was.
You know, dude, you put a good product out there,
(19:25):
but you need that right product. You need that right guy.
I think Lindor is the guy that prevents the Mets
from metting. Is Rogers with Adams gonna be what prevents
the Jets from jetting? That's really what you got to
ask yourself. Well said. And you know, sometimes, Danny g
You're on the other end of this as a Raiders
(19:46):
fan and Raiders Nation in Vegas and Oakland and the
Bay Area Raiders Nation. Sometimes what feels like the move
where like, man, we lost our guy. Sometimes that move
in the long run is like perfect, awesome if it
wasn't gonna work for us. Now, I'll give you an example,
and it's it's near to me because I'm a Mets fan.
(20:07):
When the Mets gave up Max Scherzer in the middle
of a failed season a year ago, is like, yo,
you just got him. You delt Scherzer, Good riddance. You
know that what felt like the Mets just giving up
and getting rid of Scherzer they got for nothing. Luis
on Hill Acunya, little Acunya was like a highly touted
(20:28):
prospect that was like, yeah, yeah, give them Mets Akunya,
We're getting Schurzer. Ures is done and Acuna's got his
big bro swing, so he's so good. I mean sometimes,
like the Raider fan should also be like sometimes there
could be two winners in a deal. But and it
seems to be the case as of now. But Let's
also point out the fact that what Rogers is doing,
I'm not comparing them. People get their panties in a
(20:48):
bunch when I say this, not comparing them. But doesn't
it seem like he does have more power than he
alluded to last week where he's calling the shots, he
gets Devonte Adams, Mike Williams is out, he calls him
out and now he's out. He has more power than
he alluded to. I mean, he's getting what he wants,
and granted he should, he's the quarterback. But when Lebron
(21:08):
James is getting the players he wants and he's playing GM,
it doesn't always seem to work. I mean, it's so obvious.
I mean three names, Randall Cobb, Allen Lazard, Devonte Adams.
I mean without adding a little green to a little
yellow and gold to the Jets uniform, he's trying to
recreate the Packers. Not saying he didn't earn it, not
saying Lebron didn't earn it, But it seems like when
(21:31):
dudes like that call the shots and they get what
they want, it doesn't always equal you know, success. Yeah,
so we'll see. Not wishing anything against him, I think
the positive here because let's try to be positive. Is
the Jets are all in. They got what they want,
and it'll be fun to watch where they go from here.
Danny real fun and Danny G's Raiders got what they want.
(21:51):
What are you feeling about this?
Speaker 2 (21:53):
I feel like this is all the Atlanta Falcons fault.
They surprised everybody, including us when they took Michael Pennix
Junior off the boor this would have been a fun
season watching Pennix Junior aired out with Davante Adams. Instead,
we have a couple of backups there in Las Vegas
at quarterback of the old saying two quarterbacks equaled nine
(22:14):
and all that. And it's just been a tough ride.
I loved watching Davante in a Raiders uniform. I'm gonna
miss miss him, but yeah, if Telesco can keep drafting
some real pros, like the couple of offensive linemen that
he struck gold with, then at least I'm a little
more confident going into the next draft.
Speaker 6 (22:32):
Now.
Speaker 1 (22:32):
I was traveling from Idaho to La so I missed
some social media hype. But you told me Rich that
there was a clip of Davonte Adams like just chilling
with Rogers on Pat McAfee. I didn't see when he
did his weekly hit that was what earlier today. That's
so funny man, the little noise and alsodden. You see
Davonte poka his head like what's huh? And you know what,
(22:53):
maybe that brings more of a fun vibe and more
of a winning vibe with the Jets. I'm excited to
see what happens. Welcome back to the show. STP love it,
Thank you, Iowa Samuel taking it back on the Taco Tuesday,
Cavino and Rich on Fox Sports Radio. Everything at Covino
(23:14):
and Rich on social media if you want to play
along at home. A bunch of new videos, new clips,
all the time. Clips from our patreon if you're interested.
We do a Patreon every afternoon Monday through Thursday. And
of course our favorite part of the day these two
hours with you and Danny, G and Sam and dB
and the Fox Sports Radio Nation. I was talking to
new Brandon, Well that's great man, one of you got
(23:36):
a show to do. One of the editors. Now we're
talking about the forty nine ers. Yes, I'm saying, what's up?
Dv uh?
Speaker 4 (23:43):
Just Covino, this is again why I'm a Cavino guy.
Rich brings it up. It's like a forty nine Ers
sandwich because I'm the Seahawks fan and all they're doing
is talk very Thursday night. Yeah, back on the right track, right, yeah, yeah, yeah,
you know, like and I'm in the middle of it.
I mean hearing in both ears, like it's just this
whole conversation of what do you do with friends and
rubbing it in like that's subtle, rubbing it in, just.
Speaker 1 (24:06):
The annoying nature of what makes Rich Davis rich David
hold on, if you got your twenty three in me back,
you're definitely like sixty percent annoying, and then you're like
Russian and you're kind of nice and everything else. Thanks man.
But yeah, him and Brandon playing slap pass in the hallway,
Well no, I felt that that dB was there, and
then I complimented Dan by telling him what a great guy,
(24:29):
and I'm like, oh, man, it up. But BR's great.
He's a Niners fan. And see to show that I'm
not a Homer. We were just saying that seems like
smart money this week would be Chief's money line. The
Niners are favored over Kansas City in the Bay area
in Santa Clara, and I listen, you don't think me
(24:51):
as a forty nine percent? Is like sweet? Let's you know,
how do you get revenge from a super Bowl loss?
It's so insignificant, like Week seven compared to the super Bowl.
But I don't know why the Niners are favorite. It's
a mystery to me. I really think that I would
never bet against my team, but I think the smart
money is on Kansas City. I mean, I hate to
say it. Don't you feel that a little bit? You
(25:14):
take the Niners over Kansas City? Right now? The Niners
look like they can't finish and Kansas City looks like
they can't lose. No, Yeah, I actually I agree with you.
Plus you've been hot man. Yeah. And how's that New
York City parlay? Oh dude, I think that's a good
side little quick minute. Remember we talked yesterday about my
New York parlay, meaning yesterday we bet Mets, Yankees, Rangers, Islanders,
(25:41):
and then we said let's leverage it by doing Bills
and Jets and two separate ones because they're both New
York teams. Yeah, I added the liberty, so it's a
six leg parlay five for five, So far. The New
York Liberty plays tonight, and a fifteen dollars parlay pays
out close to six hundred bucks. That's and I'm trying
to decide if I want to, Oh it's tomorrow, Sam, Liberty, Liberty, Liberty.
Speaker 2 (26:05):
Imagine if it's the w NBA team that kills your parlay, and.
Speaker 1 (26:09):
It would be because I've mocked them. Yeah, but that's
not a bad deal because I was the guy that
said katl Cork's out, No one cares. So I'm going
with you because you've been hot. Well, so here's the question,
do you roll with it or not? If you're you know,
doing your thing DraftKings Code see our show. If they
said all right, you're fifteen dollars parlay, I think they
offered me three forty on the payout. Or I could say, nah,
(26:32):
I'm gonna roll with it. I think it's five ninety.
I say go for who are the Liberty playing? Iowa?
Speaker 7 (26:37):
Sam?
Speaker 1 (26:38):
The Links? The Links there, yep, series the Links. I
don't know rich in Minnesota, Minnesota, lynth Do I know
anything about the Links?
Speaker 7 (26:45):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (26:46):
Yeah, the links, man, I don't know. Liberty are three
and a half point favorites. Okay, so liberty our favorites.
So I got the money line on the favorite. I
think you go for it for thirteen bucks. You don't
think you know about gotta be all in like the Jets.
What do you know about links? The stupid guido you
have her on? Your next link is the figure the
figure out link Rocky is a Turtles name link. Yeah, yeahs.
(27:10):
You gotta be all in is the point rich like
the Jets, And I think we could wrap this up
like the Jets. Who By the way, if you've seen
the photoshops of Aaron Rodgers and Devonte Adams in the
Jets uniforms, they look good, man. Nothing is like the Raiders,
Danny g but they look good and green. I will
have seen the new green Jets logo, but it says Packers.
(27:30):
I've seen that too. By the way, just to give
you a little heads up. The next month, the next
four weeks for the Jets, Stealers winnable, Patriots definitely winnable. Yep, Texans,
that's a tough game. And then the Cardinals winnable, so
the Jets could go three and one. The Jets get
all that they wanted, The Raiders got what they wanted.
The Jets took the salary, so props to them, and
(27:54):
I can't wait but go after the Jets should be
five and five after ten, and then you reassess from there.
Everyone chewed out your answer. Did the Jets beat the
following teams with Aaron a new head coach? Well, it depends.
I sure hope that Adam's hamstring's okay. But I know,
I mean, he said they worked on him pretty well
in Vegas and it just coincidental. He's ready to go now.
(28:16):
All right, So when I say next week, Jets are
one and a half point favorite, they're in Pittsburgh, Jets, Steelers.
What do we think I'm going? Jets, Yeah, I'm going Jets,
all right. Jets at Patriots, Jets, Jets, Yeah, why not?
Patriots shocked the world. Texans at the Jets. It's a
(28:37):
home game. Ah, But we'll be realistic and be like
unless Aaron Rodgers over the next two weeks looks like
a different man reunited with his bff. Texans.
Speaker 4 (28:46):
Yes, Texans, Okay, you guys were way too quick with
the Steelers one too, you.
Speaker 1 (28:50):
Know what I think I was. And then the Cardinals.
I think the Cardinals are not good.
Speaker 2 (28:56):
Yeah, they've they've been playing better than last season.
Speaker 1 (28:59):
Yeah, and then the call, so that I just gave
you five. I think over those next five, if the
Jets won four and one, that would put him at
six and five with six games to go. And when
you factor in that, everybody I'm playing they go if.
Speaker 2 (29:15):
They go one in four, though, who throws a helmet first,
Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 1 (29:18):
Or by the way, I just took a two and
four team and just automatically gave him five of the
next six games. It's amazing. There's a reason they're two
and four. I apologize to but I don't this season
more than ever, they have a shot. Everyone else is
playing pretty mid everybody else has two or three losses already.
Speaker 2 (29:37):
As it yet know because it's all I think it
was all Mike Williams faulton. Apparently he's going to be
off the team.
Speaker 1 (29:41):
So well, we shall see the Jets. It should get interesting.
And Dan Byer, I'm glad we were on the same
page because the DeVante Aaron Rodgers and him peeking his
head behind Rogers during his McAfee interview that sort of
stole the headlines today. But Buffalo trying to get to
that next level. No shame in hitting Amari Cooper. I
looked at the stats. I'm like, has this production gone
down thousand yard receiver consistently? And it makes sense to me.
Speaker 4 (30:06):
I love it for the simple fact as well as
they realized, you know what, we do miss a player
like Stefan Diggs, so we need somebody to come in
and take that role. We've gone through six games so far.
We think we have a good enough team. But maybe
not that they made a mistake with letting Diggs go.
But they did draft Keyon Coleman early in the second round.
He's not yet come around, which he shouldn't have expected
(30:29):
to as a second rounder. They realized what they needed,
they went and did something about it.
Speaker 1 (30:33):
One last thought before we take our phone calls and
talk to Jerry Jones. You know the Bill's got the win,
but was the big winner Salah? Last night, our boy
Jack Mac from Barstool pointed out something funny. It must
have been cool to be Robert Salain that moment, who
sort of got hosed. When you think about it right now,
Bill asked Bill Belichick. He thinks he got host Well,
when you think about it, he was probably watching and
(30:56):
then they lose a heartbreaker, they should have won, thinking
it wasn't me and she jack Back made the point
of it's like when you're in a relationship and your
ex all of a sudden is in another toxic relationship
or she's not doing that well. After you and I
say another one, it was another one, another one. There
(31:17):
was a little bit of that last night for sala
So at least he gets a little bit of victory.
Another one, another one. All right, now, we can take
your phone calls at eight seven, seven ninety nine on
Fox from Jerry Jones. That's a great analogy. By the way,
when you when you see an ex, yeah she looks terrible.
No not even love well, you can look great. I'm
just saying when you see the same patterns and you're like,
(31:38):
oh yeah, oh I see the Jet should have won
that game. So Salah had to feel a little bit
of like, eh see, let's say what's up to Ken
real quick? In pen What's up can in Pennsylvania?
Speaker 6 (31:55):
Okay, first off, I'm not gonna talk about Jerry Jones.
Even though I laughed so hard I couldn't stand it.
Lost my head on the pay You have a fifteen dollars.
Bet that right this second, you can hit a button
that's asue three hundred and how many dollars?
Speaker 1 (32:11):
I think it was like three forty that's the payout.
Speaker 6 (32:13):
Yeah, okay, So here here's how I want you to
think about that.
Speaker 1 (32:18):
Now, please do exactly. I brought it up for a reason. Deal, Deal,
What does the banker say?
Speaker 6 (32:24):
It is so simple. If you take the money and
the liberty win, you're going to go trap. If you
don't take the money and the liberty lose. I can't
say the word that's going to come out of your
mouth on the radio.
Speaker 1 (32:40):
You know what I was thinking about, just because the
Lynx is an underdog. So what if I just did
like fifty or one hundred bucks money line on the
links cash out, you know, essentially I'd be you know,
hedging my bed a little bit, right, a little bit? Yeah, Steve,
give me the totals again. If you can't shout now,
(33:02):
if Howie Mandell talks to the banker, he says, you
get how much? Yeah? Three forty? What who's holding the suitcase? What?
Hawt girl? Suitcase number eight? How many guys tell you
how different the world has changed in the last twenty years.
Howie Mandel if you watch that so now, it feels
so like old school, Like, Hi, Howie, there's just a
bunch of hot girls at Suitcases. I used to love
(33:24):
that show. By the way, we were Maxim Radio back then,
so every week Rich and I would have one of
those models on our show, Like every week we knew
all the suitcase girls, all the suitcase girl. It was gross.
Don't hate our path, don't hate, just appreciate. Yeah, we
had a great path, guys, like the Yankees postseason, just
a great path.
Speaker 4 (33:40):
I got to attend city council meetings and my path
on the way up, So that was a lot of fun.
Speaker 1 (33:44):
The same thing. Yeah, all the county the countiest meeting
about the new highlight. If you had a puke, listen
to some old best of and listen to Rich be
a creep hitting on these women. You want to know,
a real fun start for Back of the Day. Our
video producer spot who you want to be able to
tell now because now he's like, uh, you know, arrogant.
Right back then he was shy and we were on
(34:08):
a spring break and he went up to girls in
South Beach and this was his pickup line. Hey, my
name's Frank Marino. I'm Dan Marino's son. Let's make out.
And it worked and one out of eight, one out
of eighteen girls made out with him. Out of thirteen thirteen,
it was one out of thirteen. And I was making
up with girls. You just oh, yeah, we're in Miami.
My name is Frank Marino, I'm dans son. Yeah. We
(34:29):
had a fun path.
Speaker 7 (34:30):
Guys.
Speaker 1 (34:30):
Don't don't be mad. Don't be mad. Don't be mad.
That the curl hair just to really sell it. Yeah, yeah,
it was like his hair was like that. Yeah, it was.
That's why we said that. So dealer, no deal. Okay,
the suitcase models are there, and the banker offered you
how much three? I'll tell you right now. Hold up.
I think it's again the New York parlay rich hit
(34:52):
what five games five out of the the sixth is
still up in the air. A crazy few days for
New York sports. But yes, someone I I gotta get
my buddy my credit. And I've seen it on social
media that all the New York teams were playing Mets, Yankees,
you know, Jets and Mills and you know, hockey, basketball, football,
Everything was going on, right, And I said, you know what,
(35:12):
just for the heck of it, I'll do it. And
as of right now, let's see, my cash out is
three thirty three on a fifteen dollars back. It was
fifteen to win five eighty but if the Liberty beat
the Links tomorrow, it's five to what five eighty eight? Four? Dude,
who cares?
Speaker 2 (35:33):
I like that can in Pennsylvania said take the money now, Rich.
Speaker 1 (35:36):
I like Ken's explanation. You kidding me? This guy, Daddy Stacks,
he needs that money, go for it.
Speaker 2 (35:43):
But he does because for three weeks now he's been
saying that he's going to bring lunch in for us.
Speaker 1 (35:47):
Yeah, but didn't we learn a lesson from the Jets?
All in, bro, I'm we don't know if it's going
to work for the Jets, though, I'm gonna get my
watch to the pile. If I do win, I think
it would all be a prob it. Since it's a
New York parlay, I go down the block in Sherman
Oaks and I bring in Brooklyn Wagon Pizza Pizza Pizza
(36:10):
Wagon and Brooklyn Pizza Wagon of Brooklyn. It's fantastic. They
got Sicilian, they got Grandma's style, they got everything. So
maybe we'll do a little pizza. And what's that. You
don't know Grandma style. I've never had Grandma style is
what do you just eat corn? You never had Grandma style?
Tell me what Grandma style is. It's a thin square
it's not sicilian sicilians, a thicker square pizza, very dowey.
(36:32):
It's how Grandma would make it. Invented by Umbardo's Pizzeria
and Floral Park, New York. So I haven't had it.
I haven't been to Floral Park, New York. No, bro,
we're bringing it to you. Don't worry about right, A
funny feeling.
Speaker 2 (36:45):
If the Liberty don't actually win the game that their
favorite to win, that this is going to change to dominoes.
Speaker 1 (36:51):
No, no, we're getting. If the link swin we're getting,
We're getting the link swim needs it. So thanks funny.
All right, So that's where we're at. I think you
go for it. Thanks for the phone call. Any other
phone calls now before we took Jerry Jones. You know what,
I don't know what they're calling about. So let's hang
(37:12):
for a second, okay, and let's hit up this Jerry
Jones audio because if you miss this, let me let
me get this scoop, right. Jerry Jones makes like a
weekly appearance on a radio show called Shannon RJ one
oh five to three the van in Dallas, Right, so
he's like a regular guest, like a lot of local
markets have that. So they must have a weekly decent
(37:33):
relationship where they get along. But this goes a little sideways, right,
So they get into a fight. That's the understanding. I
haven't heard it yet. I wanted to hear it live
with you guys, so we're gonna play you the fight.
They get into a little bit of a fighting shouting match.
Jerry Jones with radio hosts Shannon RJ props to them.
Let's take a listen and then we'll get your feedback
on it. Jerry Jones on the.
Speaker 7 (37:53):
Show, this is not your job. Your job is to
let me go over all the reasons that i've something
and I'm sorry that I did it. That's not your job. Well,
my job is to ask one job, or I'll get another.
I'll get somebody else to ask these questions.
Speaker 1 (38:08):
Man, Jerry, We're just we're trying to figure out why.
Speaker 7 (38:12):
The team are I'm not kidding it. I'm not kidding it.
You're not going to figure out what the team is
doing right or wrong. If you are are any five
or ten like you, you need to come to this
meeting I'm going to today. There are thirty two teams here.
Your genius is Jerry Yn't really think you're gonna sit
there with a microphone and tell me all of the
(38:36):
things that I've done wrong and without going over the rights. Now, listen,
we both know we're talking to a lot of great
fans and a lot of great listeners. And I am
very sorry for what happened out there Sunday. I'm sick
about what happened. One of the stupidest things I've ever
done that anybody has ever analyzed. This is my the Cowboys.
(38:56):
It was an idiot that did that. So idiot things
can into good decisions. Okay, smart things can turn into
bad decisions. The facts are that when you Mike want,
you don't really know whether it's going to be good
or not at the time. So let's let's just go ahead.
I'm trying to answer your questions. Man, you want some
you want some conversation this morning.
Speaker 1 (39:18):
You'll getting awkward man keeping it read. Yeah, I mean
props to Shannon RJ. They're in a tough situation. They're
asking some some valid questions about the Cowboys. I felt
them more than ever on that nervous chuckle because at first,
like Andre's like, I ain't joking. Yeah, But here's the
other thing between a rock and a heart place. You're
(39:39):
doing your job right. You have a good relationship as
a host and the owner. That's kind of cool that
he's on your show, but you still have to be
real and ask tough questions or not even tough questions,
just like honest, legitimate questions to your audience. You have
to be real with them. But then at the same time,
you don't want to argue with an eighty two year
old guy. Does you look like an ass? But he
(40:00):
is the general manager of the team, He's not just
the owner. Can you Yeah, I understand that. Can you
ever really win an argument with an eighty two year
old dude? But it's Jerry Jones who has taken on
not only the role of owner. He insists that he
never needs a GM because he knows more than anyone.
But then I did feel Jerry's out of it when
he's like you you're just essentially he was like You're
(40:21):
just a couple of knuckleheads on the radio. You're just
two fools in a room. Well, I'm a taccoon and
I feel that too, because the reality is, if I
started questioning Kyle Shanahan or you know, the GM that
I liked, if he would be like, yeah, that's great, Rich,
You and Kavino are just two bozos having fun too,
two radio yahoos. Do you think you know more than
(40:42):
me that there? You're getting some of that vibe too,
and there is some truth. I think that's a scenario
where I like it. I'll tell you what I like.
We always talk about how we want transparency and honesty
and people to keep it real, and then when we
they do, we're like, can you I can? The generic
answer that Jerry Jones could have gave was way less
(41:04):
interesting than him keeping it real, saying like, listen, sometimes
dumb decisions end up working out, and sometimes what you
think is a good decision doesn't. And hey, you tube
knuckleheads don't know. I'm cool with that interaction. I feel
like Jerry Jones is a not at all. We know this,
he insists, like it's like the guy that wants to
represent himself in court like you should get a lawyer. No,
I'll represent myself Realistically. He's made some great decisions or
(41:26):
else he wouldn't be in the situation he's in right now. Yeah,
but they have not had this. I'm saying as a businessman,
not necessarily as a Cowboys owner for America's team that
has a lot of lore. You know, young kids want
to play for the Cowboys. They haven't been there since
you're a schoolboy watching step by step in full house
last time, the last time the Cowboys won the Super Bowl.
(41:47):
Dan Byer is watching TGIF with Erkele things changed quick
go behind because you were saying that same thing, the
same narrative about the Yankees last year, like, oh man,
what used to be the place to be just isn't
any more. Players don't want to play with the high
expectations of of the I don't know if they do. Yeah,
well guess what they're playing pretty well now.
Speaker 4 (42:07):
Rich was the one who was watching h Rkle. Yeah,
because he's a few years younger.
Speaker 1 (42:12):
I was watching a Balki two. Don't be ridiculous, cousin Appleton.
I mean it's been since the nineties.
Speaker 4 (42:19):
We remember that I was a freshman in college that
was I mean, I remember vividly it was super.
Speaker 1 (42:24):
Bowl super Bowl. Then Steve Young and the Niners snuck
one in in the ninety four to ninety five season.
Then they beat the Steelers the next year in ninety six,
so it was super Bowl, super Bowl, close super Bowl
since then. And Jerry Jones has to take some account
of your radio host. I'm like, how would you have
handled this? Like, hey, listen, Jerry, with all due respect man,
(42:46):
because you don't want to How do you win an
argument with an old guy? Just look, you feel bad
about it? Like that's how I feel like. Even though
he's a business tycoon and he's got all his wits
about him, he's still in eighty two. What would you
have said in that moment? If you want the truth?
We pred ourselves on being a show that keeps it
light and fun and stupid at times. But if I
(43:08):
were to put on my hard hitting journalism hat, which
I don't know what hat, that would be like a
like a fedora, like a like a Scoops Callahan fedor
oh yeah, for journals, one of those like Burt Sugars,
sort of like you're a beat writer hat. You have
to ask the hard questions.
Speaker 2 (43:22):
And we should mention Andrew and Bakersfield, California just called
in and he wanted to know what was the question
that irritated Jarrah like that? And what the hosts were
leading into is they were they were alluding to the
fact that he didn't do enough. Maybe in the off season,
he didn't make enough offseason moves.
Speaker 1 (43:42):
That's always awkward, man. You know, Aaron Boone does a
lot of these. I mean this happens a lot in
sports obviously, but you see Aaron Boone and John Boy
and these guys talking after the game. He's part of
like a postgame show and sometimes they have to go
there and they have to answer these questions. It's part
of the deal. Yeah, So I think he just got
a little fed up because he does care. Here's the thing,
(44:04):
here's the reality. You think you care more than he does.
That's the other reality of it, right. I think that
I'm sick by that. I think about that all the time.
You don't think Jerry Jones was sicken by what he
saw in If you're a Cowboys fan throwing your TV
wearing your deck jersey, you don't think Jerry Jones, who
realizes maybe he has ten to twenty, ten to fifteen
(44:24):
more years of life. He's in his late eighties, right,
I mean, Jerry Jones wants to win more than you want.
I could promise you.
Speaker 4 (44:31):
I think it's when he gave Ezekiel Elliott the deal early.
We thought that that was the reason because he wanted
that Super Bowl?
Speaker 1 (44:38):
Right then?
Speaker 4 (44:39):
Do you guys want to hear the question quick that
preceded it? Do you want to Yeah?
Speaker 1 (44:42):
Please? Okay, this was the question. This is Shan asking
Jerry Jones.
Speaker 8 (44:47):
Jerry nineteen seventy A little different from this past off
season and building the team we're talking about today, which
there was a lot of criticism that you guys didn't
add didn't spend and don't add in, don't spend and
are not aggressive enough with some of the problems that
are still haunting the Cowboys today that we see play
it on the field.
Speaker 1 (45:06):
That's the point of talking about the off season. So
fair though, righteah, I don't think that was that harsh
of a notion. It's not like they were being rude
to him or anything. He's probably just fat. He's fat up.
Speaker 4 (45:18):
Clearly, it's a tough spot to be in no doubt,
as you guys said, But that is also why radio
hosts like you or them, or me or anybody else
gets paid to do that, because you have to ask
the question that serves your listener, that serves the fan,
but you also have to do it in a way
that is respectful to the guest while not coozing up
(45:39):
to them and play kating for what message they want
to know.
Speaker 1 (45:43):
How I look at it too, you got to get
the answer for your listeners. But man, you know what,
I'll take your phone calls. I'll explain, but we'll take
your phone calls. We're gonna play some iron mic trivia.
You just went yeah, because it's it is an interesting
situation to be in. It's like you're giving that. Here's
(46:04):
how I view it. I look at it like I'm
giving Jerry Jones a chance to explain. It's not only
just getting the answers from my listeners. I'm giving you
the chance to explain, Like if anyone's in some sort
of controversy, it's not about me trying to get something
out of you. It's your chance to explain what other
people are thinking. And then if he doesn't say anything,
then what then make you look like a week host. Yeah. Yeah,
(46:27):
so I ask you, because you're a big Yankees fan,
if you were a local New York beat writer for
a Yes Network or something like that, and the Covino
you gotta you know you're doing a sit down with
Brian Cashman. If the Yankees having a bad moment, do
you feel like you, as a fan and as that guy,
would be able to really be tough on Brian Cashman? Again,
if you present it like you're giving them an opportunity
(46:49):
to explain what the problem is, it's a matter like
Dan Byer was explaining, how you position it respectfully? I
thought it sounded like a fair question.
Speaker 4 (46:57):
Let's also realize that no matter what was gonna happen,
coming off of a forty seven to nine loss, Yeah,
it was not gonna be easy.
Speaker 1 (47:04):
All right, So your thoughts on that. Again, he's eighty
two years old, Maybe he doesn't have the patience he
used to. Your thoughts on that, plus prizes, we're giving
away some prizes. Iron Mike Trivia. We do it next,
all right, let's do this Iron Mike trivia. Mike Tyson
(47:25):
was a maniac.
Speaker 8 (47:26):
I want your heart, I want to eat a children.
Speaker 1 (47:28):
But an ear to this.
Speaker 9 (47:29):
If you're a boxing brainiact iron, Mike Trivia, you can't
tuck not man enough.
Speaker 7 (47:37):
All right?
Speaker 2 (47:37):
At FSR security, walking our broke Mic into the main studio, cared.
Speaker 1 (47:41):
About the stadium Yankee Yankee, Yankee fe Hi, Mike Yankee,
Mari Yankee. Nobody cared about that. Sorry to keep you
in our blue kitchen waiting hot topic. This guy talking
about thity of this guy talking about the Metallica. Who cares?
That's fifth game, Mike. We're less than a month from
you fighting now. In fact, hold up, hold up one
month from today, one month and Jake Law I don't
(48:03):
know he offered me five million dollars to get a
stupid tattoo. I already got four tattoo by the way,
I got three of them in prison. A lot of
people don't know that guy know. I got Arthur Ash,
I got Jay Gavara. I got this Chinese communist too,
I got him tattooed. Their name is Mau the Dong,
now the Dong. And now if I lose this bet,
I have to get I love Jake Paul tattoo. I'm
(48:24):
gonna do that.
Speaker 2 (48:25):
I'm not gonna do that. All right, let's meet the contestants.
Twenty five time winner Rich Davis right over there by
the way.
Speaker 1 (48:31):
Do you like my faith tattoo? Fantastic legend? Did you
know with the Maori warrior tattoo? Maori Warrior tex Wow?
Speaker 2 (48:39):
Eighteen time champion Dan Bayer Hello, Hey, what's up Dan?
Last last time we played this game, Spotty won is tenth.
Speaker 1 (48:46):
Yes, so he's a ten time winner.
Speaker 2 (48:48):
Now I'm looking to win a seeing our stainless steel

Speaker 2 (52:23):

Speaker 7 (52:33):

We'll see we get up. Yeah, I'll finish the game. Okay.
With that, we'll call an audible. That means after stay Okay, sorry, Mike,
you have to stay with the show.
Speaker 4 (53:00):
Micah trade just went down in the National Football League
the third of the day, cam Akers being dealt by
the Houston Texans. The running back is going back to
the Minnesota Vikings. Wow, the place that he played for
a while last year as well.
Speaker 1 (53:16):
I don't get it. You were just thought fitting. You're
all quiet. Now you're excited. That's all radio works. Yeah, Michael,
to get this guy. I don't get this guy. You know,
all right, it's a little intimidated to tuck you during.
Speaker 2 (53:27):
The commercial, Big Bert, the birthday boy from Georgia's back
on the line.
Speaker 6 (53:31):
Damn intimidated. I was incriminated by.
Speaker 1 (53:33):
Big Mike, Big Bird, Dag Navittbert.
Speaker 2 (53:37):
All right, so we left off on round four and
buyer guest C which was the wrong answer, So buyer's
out of the question. But go ahead reread it with
A and B there Mike.
Speaker 1 (53:47):
Naming a boxer who wrote the book twelve rounds to victory,
whether a sugary Leonard b Tommy Hearns or the Roy Jones,
which is not the answer. Yeah, go for it, Bert
for the win.
Speaker 6 (54:03):
I'm gonna go with sugar.
Speaker 3 (54:06):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (54:10):
Wow, after going five, after going five blocks just to
get across the street, Bert, the birthday boy wins a gift.
Speaker 1 (54:18):
Happy congratulations Bert, and then take you, Mike. One month
until you knock out Jake Paul. I can't wait. Different date,
thing fate. I'm gonna knock out Jake Paul November fifteenth,
just a month from today, all right, have a good
one month from tomorrow, No month from today. What are
you gonna be for Halloween? Mike, I'm gonna be Mike Dythan. Okay, bye, guys,
that's that's you than guy man. I saw Mike Tyson.
(54:42):
He looked frustrated. He did well, you got extra time
in the parking garage. There Covino. He said he was busy,
but anyway, thank you guys, he ran out. Yeah, thank
you guys for hanging out with us. Covino and Rich
on Fox Sports Radio and Rich, Yeah, buddy, running out
of time. I'm getting pumped about my Yankees. What times
that game on tonight seven thirty Eastern. Yeah, so I
(55:04):
think I'm gonna hit the gym after the show, watch
maybe like the first inning from the gym, and then
share home and yeah, you know, pull up and enjoy
the rest of the get the way to do it.
I'm I'm headed on the red Eye tonight, got an
eleven PM flight. I land in New York first thing
in the morning. Let's go, you met, I'll do this.
I'll do the show.
Speaker 7 (55:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (55:24):
Danny's like, go to the game, just go and uh yeah,
I'll be there tomorrow night. I just saw the Mets
announced they'll be rocking their alternate black jerseys. They were
at night the sweet black ones with Mets and blue.
So tomorrow night, who's picture for your Dodgers tomorrow? Danny
g is bueler? Is it Yamamoto to let me take
a look? Say? I know I knew he was pitching
for the metsis, but you my friends are not sure.
Speaker 7 (55:47):
Is it?
Speaker 1 (55:47):
Bueller, Bueller, Let's say it is. Yeah. I think Verse
Sevy several reno for the Mets, so I wish it
was yto Buehler, he said, hold on, let's all take
this in because Danny G. Your Dodgers are still in it.
My Yankees are still in it with your Man's are
still in it. They enjoy. Everybody enjoy because we're all
(56:11):
happy right now. Fast forward. Not everybody in the studio
is going to be happy, at least one of us.
Danny will probably be unpleased by the weekend. So let's
all be happy and enjoy. And Danny G. Your Dodgers
they're looking great, man. But your Raiders also in the
news today. Any thoughts on the Tom Brady announcement before
(56:31):
we go officially approved by owners? What for five percent steak?
What was it?
Speaker 2 (56:38):
But I think it's really fifteen yeah, because Brady obviously
has a group that he's with, right and I think
it was five to ten percent of Brady's own money,
eight percent of Brady's own cash.
Speaker 1 (56:48):
But the story was, according to what's his name, Vincent Bonsignor,
he is going to have a bigger role with the
Raiders than most people think. So he's gonna be the
style of from Mark Davis is going to have a course. Yeah,
we can only hope. I mean Mark Davis has been
crushing on Tom Brady for a while. So are you
(57:09):
pumped about that?
Speaker 2 (57:10):
I mean, well, yeah, because obviously Tom Brady has a
great football mind beyond great.
Speaker 9 (57:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (57:15):
It brings a winning attitude, winning culture, and in the
front office has needed help for years. I would say
that's the whole point of him being involved with your team, right.
Does that mean is today the day that you officially
say that tuckroll gone?
Speaker 2 (57:31):
I think the day was when Brady accidentally admitted to
Charles Woodson that it was a fumble.
Speaker 1 (57:37):
That's that. Yeah, man.
Speaker 2 (57:38):
They laughed and kind of bro hugged it out, and
to me, that was when it ended right there.
Speaker 1 (57:44):
But I don't know what you're talking about. What a
life I did it on camera, Tom, Now he's broadcasting,
Now he's a partial owner. Yeah, the guys, we got
to see how that pans out too, Becase, remember the NFL,
there was that conflict of interest of could he be
at practices, could he be in locker room of other
teams when he's heavily involved with the Raiders. That's something
the NFL is gonna have to work out by next year.
(58:06):
I mean, listen, you can't be part of the number
one broadcast team and say I'm going to forego the practices,
the meetings, the team player meeting like that means, if
you remember, the initial verbiage was if Tom Brady is
an owner in any capacity, he can't be at practices
in locker rooms or any other team right than the Raiders.
And how he's supposed to be the lead analyst lead
(58:27):
analyst and again be taking on a bigger role than
people think. I'll read the quote word for word. Vincent
Bonsignori says, I think Tom's gonna have a much bigger
role than people think in the direction of franchise in
all areas on the football side. So he's gonna be
way involved. How he's gonna do both, I don't know,
(58:48):
but we've posed that question before people figure it out
and they find a way. No diggnity, no doubt. So hey, today,
if you missed any of the show Jets Devontae Adams,
we talked about that. We talked about how the n
L and alcs really exciting right now. And you know what,
if you're a Yankees family Cavino, you got to say
to yourself, the path may be easy, but that's when
(59:10):
you just embrace it. Don't ask questions, Like I said,
if some good looking woman wants to sleep with you,
don't ask questions. If some job it seems like it's
easier to get than you thought, like, wait, I got
the job. Don't ask questions if if you put a
bit in on a house where you're like, man, I
probably would be outbid, like, oh yeah, you got it.
Closing dates in a month, don't ask questions. Sometimes sometimes
(59:30):
you have an easier path, and you know what, sometimes
the sun shines on you. Yeah, you're like, wow, that
was pretty painless. And it seems like the Yankees. I
wonder if I were you, do you feel unprepared for
battle tested Dodgers or Mets? Like the Dodgers and Mets
have been through the Ringer, the Yankees have not. Maybe
you could say they'll be tired by the time they
reach the Yankees. Right, there's a lot of stress and
(59:52):
a lot of wear and tear on your arms. The
Yankees have been looking good man, But again, watch out
for Luke Weaver tonight. Enjoy the game at Yankee Stadium Yankees,
not that plural Yankee Stadium where the New York Yankees play,
and just enjoy the night, guys. And we'll talk about
it tomorrow. Also, we'll recap the game, but we'll play
midweek Major. We really don't play mid week Major. We
(01:00:15):
kind of play. But it's the biggest stories when we
roll the dice, right, So it's the biggest stories in
the world of sports and pop culture. And Rich and
I debated out, are the stories mid week or major
every Wednesday? I know we're in a very big NFL
and Baseball playoff mindset, but maybe tomorrow we dive in
just for a minute, lebron saying I'm no longer going
to answer for Bronnie. He's a grown man. Is that
(01:00:37):
going to be a narrative that we see for the
next six months where people are like, yo, Lebron about
Bronnie and he's like, no, no, no, yeah, let's talk
about that. That's gonna be previewing the Liberty game too.
Oh yeah, I'm very exciting all tomorrow. I will see
you guys there. You maybe see you in the promise
queens
