Speaker 2 (01:27):
I am live from the tire rack dot com Studio
via Mi Casa my casa dojo house.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
What's it called dojo Cossa House? I think by.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
Dojo Kasa house because I am an All Valley championed
So again, Steve Covino, Rich Davis Danny g is super
producing on the phones at eight seven, seven ninety nine
out Fox Iowa Samuel on the ones and tuesdab's got
your updates and again you can play along at home,
Fox Sports Radio dot Com everything at Fox Sports Radio
at Covino and Rich Thursday, which means we throw it
(02:01):
back like we always do old school in fifty hits
and Rich, not only do we have a killer old
school discussion.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
But it's fight Eve. Dude.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
Do people realize is fight Eve? And do people realize
I'm fight Steve? And there's more than just one badass
fight this weekend. You know there's some great UFC this weekend, right, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:22):
I mean, of course, but I mean all eyes and
I'll focus on Jake, Paul, Mike Typhon. I mean, I
love how Mike Tyson is now starting to get a
little more intense, like, Yo, I'm.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
Not gonna lose. I'm not gonna lose. Did you hear that.
Do you hear what? Fed I'm not gonna lose. Yeah,
but man, I don't know rich. He's old.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
Like I said, if he loses, it's not to Jake Paul.
It's the father time. And of course everybody, I don't know.
If you saw my social media, everybody's sort of on board.
Everybody's excited. I posted, Look, we may all disagree on
religion and politics, but I think we all agree that
we're watching and we're all waiting for Mike Tyson to
knock count j Paul.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
That's it.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
You're a certain I feel like it's a I feel
like it's a cutoff too, meaning I think there's an
age in which, maybe like thirty ish or so, where
if you're thirty and younger, you never remembered any real
Mike Tyson, So you might be team Jake Paul here
because he's got fans, he's got, you know, people that
love his influencer stuff. So I think it's an age gap,
(03:23):
and I think I would imagine anyone thirty five, forty
or older has got to be pulling for Iron.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
Mike, You're right, because the younger guys just know of
the legend. But Mike Tyson has become a movie star,
a personality, one of the most intriguing people on Earth
hot boxing podcast, Like he's transcended to sports. So it's
not like these kids don't know who he is. But yeah,
I can only imagine that most people are rooting for
(03:49):
Tyson and the only people that are rooting for Jake
Paul a hardcore Jake Paul fans.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
But either way, we're one sleep away. That's my point.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
And we also got some Thursday night football that we
have to discuss, which has your pets.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
There's there's layers to tonight's game. And I'm glad we're
finally connected, Cavino, we're both doing the show from from
home today. Is there installing a new fish tank that
you wanted in the studio?
Speaker 1 (04:14):
Is that what it is?
Speaker 2 (04:15):
They're finally they got the purchase, so to approved. I
put in for a full on tank and.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
One of those little one of those little blow up sodas. Yeah,
oh man, I can't wait.
Speaker 2 (04:27):
We're redoing the studio, so we had to do it
from on location. And like Rich says, he's actually at
my parents' house because he's in Jersey, so he's visiting
my family and I'm just here in Los Angeles, but
we got to talk speaking of Los Angeles, Ridge and
say hi to my parents for.
Speaker 3 (04:43):
Me, I will you know, your parents are so nice
and it's funny because people are like, are you serious?
Speaker 1 (04:49):
Listen.
Speaker 3 (04:49):
Cavino and I have been best buzz for twenty years.
So I was in New Jersey today and I was like,
you know, I need a place to do the show.
Speaker 1 (04:56):
I'm gonna go have dinner with Kavino's parents.
Speaker 2 (04:59):
Yeah, and they have accommodations because I've done it a
million times, so yeah, it works.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
Now, but uh, your your parents, they could talk as
much as me.
Speaker 1 (05:09):
For a minute.
Speaker 3 (05:09):
I'm like, hey, maybe I'll just skip the show and
talk to mister missus Covino.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
Oh no, please please. You'll have plenty of that later on.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
So we'll find out more about what's going on with
Rich in a few minutes.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
He's on the East Coast.
Speaker 2 (05:22):
It ties into our old School and fifty Hits discussion
what he did last night in New York City. But
since I'm out here in LA with Danny g and
Sam and Spotty and Bayer and everybody else home of
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (05:35):
Yeah, I'm actually in spots living room right now broadcasting,
which is true.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
Weird man, it's so weird how we're just you know,
from coast to coast and all over the place speaking.
Speaker 3 (05:47):
We got all the upgrades coming in the producer studio,
does it, Danny G.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
You have a cold plunge, right, they're gonna you have
a little beth up. They're set up there for it. Oh,
it's gonna be hooked up. Yeah, for real, man, we
got the new studio being work done. I don't know
if you saw this. We all saw it on social media.
I don't know if you were watching live, Danny G.
You're the resident Lakers fan, but it was Raptors Lakers
and RJ Barrett's there.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
Yeah he saw right.
Speaker 4 (06:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
He looks into the stands and you could do a
John Boys sort of lip breeding moment where he recognizes
a celebrity in the stands and calls him out.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
Yeah, it was this clip. Take a listen. It's five
hours three. R J Barred, the Pascors animal.
Speaker 5 (06:33):
R J Barred gets the basket and the foul a
possible boy play.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
And he's thinking eye contact with if.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
You remember his name, Yeah, of course, Lannish just always
pay their debts. It was Jamie Lanister and better known
as well better known as Jamie Lanister.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
I think his name is nicol Lai Costa Waldown. Is
that his name? Spot?
Speaker 2 (06:56):
Yeah, they likes Waldo, so I know him, Jamie Lanister.
You're like, who the guy from Game of Thrones?
Speaker 1 (07:04):
So? R. G.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
Barrett's dre in the middle of the game and he's like,
Game of Thrones?
Speaker 1 (07:10):
Are you the Game of Thrones guy? And you see
Jamie Lanister's stupid face in the stands. It's me.
Speaker 3 (07:18):
By the way, I got to ask when Game of
Thrones was popular, did you guys all watch the intro?
My wife was convinced it changed every week, So they
never liked that, be like.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
Yeah, right, what do you mean convinced it absolutely did?
I think she realized that before everyone else did. But yeah,
it absolutely changed all the time according to new conquerings
and new territories, and it gave you new maps.
Speaker 1 (07:39):
Yeah. So based on this RJ.
Speaker 3 (07:41):
Barrett going for the you know, going for the going
for the inside look and then foul and then oh
look there's Jamie Lanister Game of Thrones. I saw another
clip where they miked up Deebo Samuel and Ricky Pearsall
they said courtside front row for Maverick Warriors, and you
(08:01):
see Deebo saying warriors and they're like yo, the ges
are big and they're just talking and chirping like yo,
stephf yo steph. Oh there's Clay And it got me
thinking based on that and the RJ.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
Barrett play.
Speaker 3 (08:17):
When you're a professional athlete, I know you're locked in,
but you're noticing who's sitting courtside, right.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
I would think so they're not. I mean they're superstars
in their own right, so I was gonna say they're
not above it. But they're fans of these shows and
these movies and these songs the same way we are.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
Absolutely, So it's not that they don't notice it.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
They're just more used to it than the average fella
because there's a lot of celebrities court sides, so they're
just so used to seeing certain people there. But if
it's someone that they're into or show that they're into,
of course they're gonna be excited. Of Course they're going
to acknowledge it. I think they absolutely see it all
the time and just do a little hattie, do a
little wave and a little shrugger, and I look just
(09:04):
to just to say, hey, it's not just whoa Game
of Thrones, Jimmie leanister, It's not just that it's not
Demo and Piercell. And like you know other athletes, people
notice when you know some superstars sit in front row.
I'm also talking about noticing some fine ass booty because.
Speaker 3 (09:24):
I know a few stories, one of which is justin Verlander.
If you remember how he met Kate Upton, remember he
threw her a.
Speaker 2 (09:30):
Ball, Dude, This also is such an obvious part of
the game. They got people that will recruit the ladies.
We hear this about rockstar not only athletes. Rock stars
are always yeah.
Speaker 3 (09:42):
That hold on, yeah, I know that Verlander Kate Upton
is a popular one.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
But is it a Dodger.
Speaker 3 (09:49):
I'm gonna look this up, but I just remember, just
now I saw like a beautiful recap of a story
where another it happens all the time, but he's married
now and he told the story. It's an MLB picture
where he tells the story about how he saw her.
Did that whole deal where YO give this girl baseball
my number on it? Didn't a rod get accused of
doing that? A couple of times to random women. I'm
(10:11):
sure I wouldn't put it past them. They're human. A
lot of these guys are young dudes. They're just throwing
game out there. It's not talked about now because of
you know, the sensitive climate we which we live in,
and people don't want to put their.
Speaker 2 (10:26):
Creepy ways out there. But you can't blame a young
guy for using his fame and using his money to
make some moves on beautiful women. And just to ignore
that is also foolish. It happens, Danny, do you know
what Dodger pitcher it is?
Speaker 1 (10:40):
I know.
Speaker 3 (10:42):
No, I want you to look this up when you
get a chance. Hideo Yomo.
Speaker 2 (10:47):
No, the story of how Kyler Glass now ah okay
met his wife.
Speaker 1 (10:53):
He saw her, He's like, yo, who is that?
Speaker 2 (10:55):
And she responded and they started chit chatting and they're married.
So listen, I think it's funny when these athletes notice
a celebrity. But let me tell you, you think they're
zone then, because you are. But it goes back the
first time we ever heard of this. Let me take
you back a little history of sports, because that's you know,
that's what that's what I'm known for Rich Davis, sports historian,
(11:20):
the story of John Candy.
Speaker 3 (11:23):
I know d b knows the story. Dan Bayer, a
man of history in the NFL. The Super Bowl when
the Niners played the Cincinnati Bengals nineteen eighty nine, we
know the story. Joe Montana tries to calm down the
team Joe Cool.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
And the story goes he goes, hey, look it's John
Candy and him pointing out John Candy sitting in like
the second or third row of the Super Bowl in
a zone.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
Are you sure that's what I thought? He said, Hey,
look it's Enrico Polonzo. That's not what happened.
Speaker 2 (11:55):
No different maybe, well, well not Rich, maybe I'm confusing
the stories.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
My bad continue, but he.
Speaker 3 (12:03):
Points out John Candy and apparently that is sort of
what loosened up the team.
Speaker 4 (12:11):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
Joe Montana's told the story sins and like every Joe
Montana story, you know, he's like my hero growing up,
he dumbs down and minimizes all these cool stories. But
if you did watch Joe Montana Cool under pressure on Peacock,
he did tell the story about how the Niners are
down sixteen.
Speaker 3 (12:27):
Thirteen, like three minutes to go. They're on their own
eight yard line. They got to go ninety two yards.
Speaker 1 (12:35):
To win this game.
Speaker 2 (12:37):
And everyone's a little under you know, everyone's a little
out of it, like how we lose into the Bengals.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
It's bs, what are we doing?
Speaker 2 (12:43):
And Joe Montana points out to Harris Barton, I believe yo,
Look dude, there's John Candy and that that's how the
story goes. So yes, Super Bowls. He at least owns
up to this one. He poo poos on the legend
of Rudy. He says, the Rudy story didn't happen as
(13:04):
we were told, he said, not even close.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
But he does say that this is a true story.
Speaker 2 (13:10):
And if you put yourself in that huddle, in that
pressure moment, and your star quarterback says, look it's John
Candy and you turn around and it's actually him, you
can see how that brings a smirk and a chuckle
and like oh wow, and a little bit of calmness
and fun high pressure. Yeah, to a high pressure moment.
I think that's really funny, dude.
Speaker 3 (13:31):
I mean to tie it into that legendary story. I
have the quote right here, if that's cool with you.
Joe Montana in the docu series, I said cool under
pressure to quote Montana Harris Barton, who was a stud
for the Niners back in the day, he goes Harris Barton.
Speaker 1 (13:45):
He was our people WATCHO. During the week of the
Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (13:48):
Harris would come up to us like a little kid,
excited about all the celebrities he saw super Bowl week.
When you get in the game, though, Harris is a
pretty anal retentive guy, but he was still a little
tight in that moment, and Joe I was like, you
know what, Harris loves celebrities, and that's why Joe said, Yo, hey, Harris, Yo, Niners.
It's John Candy, which is it goes down as a
(14:08):
legendary moment. And in that documentary it was the first
time I remember seeing John Candy.
Speaker 1 (14:14):
They show the clip. Yeah I know, yeah, you see
him there.
Speaker 2 (14:18):
So Rich is saying, do you think that these athletes
notice this more often than we think? The answer is yes,
it happens all the time, we just don't see it
that often.
Speaker 1 (14:30):
You know, there's a lot of funny clips you're making
me think of. Are famous moments that you're making me
think of. There's a really sketchy story, but funny or interesting,
I don't know the word to use it.
Speaker 2 (14:40):
In today's world, where Mickey Mantle talks about, you know,
recruiting women, you know, into the dugout under the bleachers.
He's written about those accounts, you know. So these are
legendary stories. So to think that these athletes are above
noticing beautiful women or celebrities is crazy. Not only that,
I don't know if you saw this, maybe Iowa Sam
(15:02):
could get the clip later on, but there was a
famous clip where Floyd Mayweather was fighting somebody and I
was fighting somebody. In the middle of the fight, he's
listening to the actual broadcast in comments on it. He
turns around starts answering back on the commentary to Jim
Lampley or Kellerman whoever was calling the fight.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
So not only they were like, I think they said something.
Speaker 3 (15:22):
To the effect of, like, I wonder what Mayweather's thinking
in this moment in Flood's like, y'all tell you how
I'm feeling exactly.
Speaker 2 (15:28):
So not only are they conscious and aware of who's
there and sitting sideline, you know, I'm sure they're noticing
Mario Lopez's big head ringside, they're hearing what people are
saying maybe not in the zone on it, maybe not
focused on it, but they're hearing it and they're noticing
it here and there. It's a matter of how second
nature a lot of this is for these athletes. But
it is cool to see RJ. Barrett acknowledge someone that
(15:52):
he's a fan of. Hey, and you know what, and
there are different levels of celebrity because they're basketball.
Speaker 1 (15:58):
Players and this is a show.
Speaker 2 (16:00):
Oh and it was a massive show that he's clearly
a fan of. To call out Jamie Lanister, you don't
think that if you were on The Sopranos, you're like
a different level of fame, right, because people get way
invested in these shows. There's people on the Sopranos rich
they talk about it now that they don't have to
do anything the rest of their life. They're super famous
(16:20):
because everybody watched it and was that into it till
this day.
Speaker 1 (16:24):
And that's twenty something years later.
Speaker 2 (16:25):
So if you're a big fan of these epic shows
that meant so much to you, it doesn't matter how
famous you are. You could be Tom Cruise, you could
be r J. Barrett, you could be Lebron James. When
you see those people, you admire.
Speaker 1 (16:37):
You're like, oh, that's insane and it's kind of cool
to see because they're just human like everybody else.
Speaker 3 (16:44):
And it was Floyd. He did talk yeah to the
commentators mid fight, mid fight. If you see the clips, yeah, yeah,
you see the.
Speaker 2 (16:53):
Clip and he like he shouts out and they're like, yo,
did he just acknowledge the broadcast?
Speaker 1 (16:58):
Yes, he did because he heard it and he's Floyd.
Speaker 3 (17:01):
But so a couple of funny clips if you just
scrolling around social media, Hey, listen, I'll repost them at
Covin and Rich on Instagram. But one of them is
Ricky Piersoll and Debo just having a lot of fun
at a Warriors game.
Speaker 1 (17:14):
And you can tell the.
Speaker 3 (17:15):
Warriors players are like, yeah, that's Deebo Samuel and RJ
Barrett just clearly saying, oh look, Game of.
Speaker 1 (17:22):
Thrones, awesome, awesome.
Speaker 2 (17:25):
All right, So we want to hear your stories, your
take on that a funny clip that went viral. Plus
we got to talk DeMarcus Cousins. He has some ideas
on how to boost NBA ratings. Speaking of the NBA.
Speaker 1 (17:39):
Love this. I love this story so much, right, Danny,
It's a great story, and I think it might work.
Speaker 3 (17:44):
So how do they boost NBA ratings because they're saying
the three pointer is killing ratings. So we'll get to
some NBA and I want to I want to tease
this because I'm going to provide.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
The photos on our social media if you do take
a look.
Speaker 2 (17:56):
Two of your favorite childhood action stars both have hot
daughters who hang out together. Now, well, honestly, a lot
of the exercise you grew up with have hot daughters.
Not to sound creepy, no creepo. And by the way,
no creepo. I'm not talking about Stallone. Daughters are beautiful.
I'm not talking about Sly Slyly. Two other action stars
(18:20):
did like a photo shoot together. I'm like, who are
these girls? And I'm like, wait, they're the daughters of
blank and Blank.
Speaker 3 (18:26):
So we'll provide the photos at coviing on rich and
if you want to see those clips, I'll throw those
up now as well. Demo and of course is that
Jamie Lanister uh More Next, a lot of fun today,
Kevin on Rich on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (18:40):

Cavino out here in La rich on the East Coast,
New Jersey Coast to coast bringing you the show Danny
g on the Phones at eighty seven seven ninety nine
on Fox Super producing Iowa Sam playing the love Grooves
on this fight. Eve Thursday is the new Friday, but
on actual Friday, we get Tyson Jake Paul. I feel
(20:30):
like we've we've waited what almost nine months for this fight,
so it's final years. It's like a kid waiting for Christmas.
Even Christmas. I really tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (20:40):
I mean, I'm so excited to be like all right,
end of the week works over turn on the Tyson
Jake Paul fight on a Friday night, which is unconventional,
So I think it makes it even more likely that
people will watch because it's not taking up your Saturday.
Speaker 1 (20:52):
It's Friday night. My life is done conventional you know.
Speaker 4 (20:55):
The bad part though, had this happened, what was the
original date, July twentieth, we would have been there.
Speaker 1 (21:02):
I know that is that?
Speaker 6 (21:03):
I know?
Speaker 1 (21:03):
Yeah, don't.
Speaker 4 (21:04):
We were some of the only media members that got
credentials for this.
Speaker 2 (21:07):
We got credentialed, It got rescheduled for tomorrow, and Rich
and I already had a trip playing. Now we're gonna
be in Miami over the weekend, so look, we're gonna
be watching with friends. It does post the question, though,
of what are you doing since it's such a throwback,
nostalgic sort of moment. Mike Tyson's fighting again. That's Michael
Jordan as Michael Jordan getting on the court again. Things
(21:30):
you thought you'd never see. Are you getting back with
your old school buds. Are you're getting together with family?
You gotta start making those plans today because the fight
is tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (21:40):
You think Mike or Jake Paul will notice anyone ringside
to go with our last conversation like, yes, you.
Speaker 1 (21:46):
Are there, you are with up?
Speaker 6 (21:47):
I had one I had Oh my goodness, it's Mario Lopez.
I love saved by the Bell. I have what hey
with up? Oh my goodness, Oh my throwthy Perez, I
love white Man came down.
Speaker 4 (22:00):
They're gonna notice that two million dollars pop up, Sweet,
that's right next to the ring.
Speaker 2 (22:04):
Yeah, that's right, Danny g But I had a quick
story on that rich and it comes from the RJ.
Speaker 1 (22:10):
Barrett viral clip.
Speaker 2 (22:12):
Raptors are at the Lakers and he sees Jamie Lanister
from Game of Thrones there and he's like, Game of
Thrones and Jamie, you see Jamie Lanister's really strong jawline
in the crowd.
Speaker 1 (22:23):
Like, yes, it's me from Game of Thrones.
Speaker 2 (22:27):
My aunt Googie, right, she was a looker in her day,
my Aunt Googie, And she was at a fight, and
apparently Pernell Whittaker made eyes with my aunt so much
so that security got involved. They're like, yo, Purnell wants
to meet you later on, and my uncle Bill got
all mad about it. He still talks about it to
(22:47):
this day, how he would have kicked Purnell Whittaker's Sweet
Pea's ass, Like, no, you wouldn't have, uncle Bill.
Speaker 1 (22:52):
But it's a good story.
Speaker 3 (22:53):
That's weird that it is weird that your youngest cousin's
nickname is little Sweet Peg.
Speaker 1 (22:59):
Yeah, I know, and he looks a little like for now,
but yeah, we don't talk about that.
Speaker 2 (23:03):
He doesn't look like your Irish uncle. No, nothing like
him at all. But it does happen. You know, it
happens all the time in fact. But it was a
cool moment to see RJ. Barrett acknowledge Game of Thronts.
It would have been way cool if it was Kalisi
no creepo. But yeah, Jamie Lanister is kind of cool.
Speaker 1 (23:23):
Now. A lot to get to.
Speaker 3 (23:25):
I do want to talk about what action stars when
we were kids have like super hot daughters that are friends.
I'll get to that in a second, but I do
want to talk some Thursday night football tonight.
Speaker 1 (23:34):
I guess.
Speaker 2 (23:36):
Let's talk about what two games mean this week. A
lot of times you see a fight, you see a
game something in the sporting world, and what you're doing
is you're deciding. What this is doing is sort of
testing where people are at right. Like sometimes a.
Speaker 3 (23:55):
Fighter, they'll be an undefeated fighter and you'll be like, oh,
they never lost, and I'm you know, will correct me,
be like, yeah, they fought a bunch of tin cans.
Speaker 2 (24:02):
This is their real first test. Sometimes I'll get whooped.
Sometimes they compete.
Speaker 3 (24:07):
And you're like, yo, they were ready, Like Berlanga, he
didn't win, but he battled with Canelo Alvarez to the
point where you're like, all right, yo, he is ready.
He's just not gonna beat Canelo, but he's yeah, he's good.
Speaker 1 (24:20):
Or Canelo.
Speaker 2 (24:22):
You know, Mungia fought real tough, just not ready for Canelo,
but he's you know, making a name for himself. You could,
you could have an honorable loss. You could still set
yourself up for the future. Canelo lost to Mayweather. Look
at the career he had. He just wasn't ready for
Floyd at that time. I think, Cavino, there are such things.
(24:42):
People may argue, but I believe are such things. There
are such things as that's a good loss. Because again,
in sports and the fight game, no one's perfect.
Speaker 1 (24:53):
So sometimes a loss, unless unless you're Kurt Hennick, then
of course there's except stir perfect. But there's two games
this weekend.
Speaker 3 (25:02):
We'll talk about one later on, and that is Steelers
Ravens because that game is telling. The other game that's
telling is tonight. Are these young Commanders new head coach,
stud rookie quarterback. They got a vibe, new ownership, is
this Commander's team ready for the big time?
Speaker 2 (25:25):
Or to the Philadelphia Eagles against Let's be honest, the
weakness of the Commanders probably their cornerbacks, their secondary and
their rush defense, which means, are we gonna see the
Philadelphia Eagles.
Speaker 1 (25:37):
Go star m buckwil tonight.
Speaker 3 (25:39):
Are we looking at Devonte aj Brown and Saquon going nuts?
Or is tonight the night where it's like, no, no,
there's a new player in the NFC East and that's
the Washington Commanders.
Speaker 1 (25:50):
That's a great analogy.
Speaker 2 (25:51):
He really was, man, because this is the true test
for the Commanders to see where they stand.
Speaker 1 (25:56):
You know, could they still lose and have a moral victory.
Speaker 2 (26:00):
Maybe they're good enough to compete and actually beat the Eagles.
Speaker 1 (26:03):
Look Washington seven to three, Philadelphia seven to two.
Speaker 2 (26:07):
They're at Philly though, so advantage Philly in dude, Saquon
Barkley coming off that super.
Speaker 1 (26:13):
Hero leap he did over people.
Speaker 2 (26:16):
Like, you know, they're playing really good right now in
a really great zone. So if Washington could go there
and actually win, that says way more about that.
Speaker 1 (26:25):
I think.
Speaker 3 (26:26):
I think if you see the Washington Commanders come out
strong tonight, if they win, I listen, we'll go over
it later in my bets. But I like Philly to
win tonight, not because I want them to win.
Speaker 2 (26:39):
Courses Canelo telling Berlanga he's he's good, but he's not ready.
I think that might be the outcome you get. You know,
That's what I'm feeling too, I really am. I'm thinking, yeah, man,
Washington is good. They're really good. They're really fun.
Speaker 1 (26:53):
But the Eagles they started, I feel like they started slow.
We weren't even talking about them for most of the season.
Speaker 3 (27:00):
I've told some Eagle fan friends, I'm like, yo, like
I've been not respecting you enough. Your team is like
a sneaky good seven and two.
Speaker 2 (27:08):
Yeah, and since then, you've seen that they've gotten better better,
like sort of slowly revved it up to seven and two.
Now they're playing like the Eagles, like you figured the
Eagles were supposed to play. So I feel like you're
gonna get a good battle. But they're just not at
the Eagles level yet. And that's just my gut feeling.
And you know, if they prove us wrong tonight, hey,
(27:29):
that's cool. That's why we watch.
Speaker 3 (27:30):
Yeah, Danny G do you get the same feeling that
the collapse of the Eagles last year left like a
like almost like a hangover on our minds where it's like, yo,
maybe Nixie Rianni and this team stinks.
Speaker 1 (27:40):
But now we're like, you know what, maybe they are good.
Speaker 4 (27:43):
Yeah I said that the other day. We're kind of
waiting for the other shoot to drop almost and it's not.
They are legit. And you know, the one thing I'll
say about the Commanders is I feel like maybe they
have some extra fire into their ass is from that
close loss last weekend. So Jade and Daniels, you see
that looking his eyes on the on the sideline when
he couldn't get back into the game there, mm hmm.
(28:04):
I would be a little worried about that fire coming
from the reds I'm calling them the Redskins now. The
thing with the Eagles, they're coming off a high obviously
pounding the Cowboys. So yeah, this is gonna be a
great Thursday night game.
Speaker 3 (28:18):
I think of the two games I mentioned, I hate,
I hate to say the word telling, but they both
will be telling. Are they ready for the prime time
or are they just good teams? Because again, Eagles hosting
the Commanders is very similar. It gives a very similar
(28:39):
feel to me as the Steelers Ravens game, because I'm like, yeah,
like I expect the Ravens to win.
Speaker 1 (28:44):
If the Steelers win, I'd be like, oh damn.
Speaker 3 (28:46):
Even though those Steelers have had the Ravens number over
the last few years, I just still feel like the
Ravens and Eagles are better teams.
Speaker 2 (28:56):
I'd be more of the Steelers that I'm more surprised
if the Commanders be Philly. Even though Daniels looks like
a superstar in the making, I mean he's playing like
a superstar leading this team. I mean Russell Wilson, if
you look at his stats, dude, they're really solid. So
when you compare their team led by Russell Wilson beating Yeah,
Wilson's veteran, so to think that he can beat Lamar
(29:19):
Jackson and the Ravens, it seems more possible to me. Well,
I think Vegas is giving Washington a hell of a
lot of respect in the form of Eagles minus four.
You know, when you do the blind test on this,
Like if I didn't look at the point spread and
you said, what do you think Vegas has it as,
I would have said Eagles by six, six and a
(29:40):
half four. I mean you could buy a point and
get that down to a field goal.
Speaker 3 (29:44):
So I think a lot of people, you know, maybe
think a little higher than the commanders that I'm thinking
right now.
Speaker 2 (29:50):
All right, well, you're gonna give us your solar power
parlay later, you're gonna give us where your money's at or.
Speaker 1 (29:55):
What I'll give you.
Speaker 3 (29:56):
I'll give you a solar power parlay later. Plus I
think I have just the right pick to make for tonight.
So we'll get to all that. Don't you worry, buddy boy,
But you want to go to dB for an update
and see what's going on. What's up, dance d.
Speaker 5 (30:08):
You want my two cents? I do tough spot for Washington,
really short week, physical game against Pittsburgh last week. I
know Washington's getting Brian Robinson back. You mentioned the win
against Dallas. Philadelphia didn't have to play everybody the whole game.
They get Jordan Mylotta. I think it's really tough for
Washington tonight, but we'll see.
Speaker 2 (30:32):
So bring up a great point in that those little
things fans don't think of sometimes, like you know, what
are they coming off of, like short week travel, like
all these little things could add up and Eagles just
have clearly an easier week than Washington.
Speaker 5 (30:46):
Did you guys touched on some of the great games.
Chiefs Bills are part of that. But the Chiefs will
not have kicker Harrison, Butker he's headed injured reserve. Could
miss about four weeks of action because he had a
procedure done on his left knee had it scope because
of a meniscus issue. Spencer Schrader has been signed off
the Jets practice squad now to handle the kicking duties
(31:06):
for Kansas City this Sunday. In Buffalo, Bill's wide receiver
Amari Cooper says he believes you'll be able to play
Sunday against Kansas City. After missing last week's game against
the Colts because of a wrist injury. DeVante Adams Smith's
practice today for the Jets. They have the Colts on Sunday.
Bengals wide receiver t Higgins practice for the second straight
day he tries to come back from a quad injury.
Tell us Cowboys yet coach Mike McCarthy Tabrico Dowdell as
(31:29):
the team's lead at running back heading into their Monday
game with the Houston Texans. As they teamed us away
with the running back by committee approach. Tampa Bay Rays
are going to be playing their twenty twenty five home
games in the home of the Yankees, not Yankee Stadium,
their spring training home in Tampa. Steinbrenner Field will host
the race for the twenty twenty five season, as that
facility seats about eleven thousand fans. An American skiing great
(31:52):
Lindsay Vaughn coming out of retirement, The forty year old
is rejoining the US ski team. Guys, back to you, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (31:58):
Dan, My first thought when I read that story earlier
was they only need about ten thousand seats. How many
that they have and you're right.
Speaker 1 (32:05):
For the race.
Speaker 5 (32:06):
Have you guys ever been down for Yankees spring training
or done anything down there?
Speaker 1 (32:10):
I haven't. I want to, though, it'd be nice.
Speaker 5 (32:13):
Yeah, I know it's right across them from the Buccaneers Stadium,
but uh, but yeah, it'll be interesting to see on
on how that all plays out.
Speaker 3 (32:21):
I've been to uh, I've been to Mets spring training,
and you you do feel like you have access to
the players.
Speaker 1 (32:28):
It's a very intimate type of thing.
Speaker 3 (32:29):
There's there's like not a ton of people there, and
you know, there's a lot of kids meeting their favorite stars,
and it's a cool vibe. If you ever get a
chance to do spring training DBS.
Speaker 1 (32:37):
Isn't that where you got that Timmy Tough signature on
your chest? Yeah? That's it? Is that when you got
to where I got the Bookie Wilson tattoo on my ass? Yeah? Wow, man,
I didn't know that. Thank you, good one, Thank you.
Speaker 7 (32:50):
Well.
Speaker 3 (32:50):
Hey, listen, coming up, we're gonna go old school when
fifty hits and uh, it's a good one because I
know what we're going to talk about. The Jump Off
is a movie that is arguably one of the greatest
movies of all time. And it's spurred a thought and
we'll get to that. Add a bunch more Live from
the tyraq dot com studio, your buds, Covino and.
Speaker 1 (33:10):
Rich now Rich.
Speaker 2 (33:13):
One of the best feelings in sports, that electric buzz
of game day all around you. And when you're looking
for that same vibe, ye have to check out Graduate hotels.
Speaker 3 (33:24):
Graduate hotels, I mean, how do you not love it?
It's like stepping on the field in those college towns,
no doubt. All Right, we're gonna be broadcasting next Friday.
This gonna be a lot of fun. Their new location
in Auburn. No Hurricanes stopping us this time. So next Friday,
November twenty second, the day before Auburn, Texas, A and M,
we're gonna be doing our show live, hanging out after
(33:45):
the show happy Hour, and then we're gonna go to
the game on Saturday.
Speaker 2 (33:47):
So make note of it. Friday the twenty second, Auburn
Graduate Hotel. All right, college football is in their DNA.
Graduate's all about bringing the charm and legacy you love
about your alma mater into a one of a kind
hotel experience, and they have over thirty locations across the
US and UK. Now they've joined with the Hilton Portfolio
of Brands, meaning you can now redeem Hilton's Honors points
(34:08):
for stays at Graduate Hotels.
Speaker 3 (34:11):
Keep that game day spirit alive. Book your state now
at Graduate by Hilton dot com.
Speaker 2 (34:16):
Graduate Hotels, because at Graduate we're all students. I like
what you're doing. Sam Iowa, Sam Oh. He's a sneaky one,
he's crafty, and he's just my type. You're listening to
alien Ant Farm. They're more than just a one hit
(34:36):
wonder covering Michael Jackson. They sing a song called movies,
and if you're listening live, you hear it. If you're
listening to the podcast, you're not find it on your
own time. We're gonna be talking movies in just a
few minutes on a throwback Thursday, Old School in fifty hits.
We're Covino and Rich live from the tire rack dot
Com studio again. I'm Steve Covino in La Rich Davis
(34:59):
in New Jersey, getting ready for a pizza.
Speaker 1 (35:01):
Night with my family. Believe it or not.
Speaker 2 (35:04):
Yeah, it's a whole other story. Oh just let people
know Kevino and I are not together. We've just worked
together twenty years, like I know exactly exactly. So thank
you guys for hanging out. Aside from our throwback movie
discussion coming up in just a few minutes, we will
talk more NFL. Some great teams this weekend, richest solar
(35:25):
power parlay, and the story about the Marcus Cousins.
Speaker 1 (35:29):
It's a wild story. I love this story.
Speaker 2 (35:31):
So it's a before we get to the Old School,
let me set up the DeMarcus Cousins thing because ratings
are low.
Speaker 1 (35:40):
He has a pretty fun idea. But are you all
on board? I know Danny watches a little more NBA
than we do, in fact, a lot more.
Speaker 3 (35:47):
He's like Laker. He's like the Lakers the way you
are with the Yankees, like you're zoned in. Is there
a lack of interest because of the three pointers? Do
you buy into the fact that three point shot after
three point shot takes away from the gritty inside game
that was fun to watch and the dunks and all that.
Speaker 1 (36:05):
Has the three pointer killed TV ratings? For real?
Speaker 4 (36:09):
I think the younger generation don't mind all the threes
have they're the kids on the court, you know, like
you Rich, I've done youth coaching, and when I coached
youth basketball, they were all trying to be Steph Curry
shooting from the half court line.
Speaker 2 (36:24):
Well, hold on, hold on, you're dead on there, right.
Steph Curry changed the game. You watch any young kid play,
that's how they play the game. But young kids don't
watch TV the way older people watch TV.
Speaker 1 (36:34):
So, oh, yeah, you're right, there's NBA Twitter right exactly.
Speaker 2 (36:38):
So it makes sense who watches TV in the old
school Nielsen raidings sort of way, old people who might
not like that gameplay, but young people who play that
game and enjoy it and have grown up seeing Steph
hit threes. They're absorbing the sport in a completely different way,
and it might affect the ratings.
Speaker 4 (36:57):
Well, I'm with Cousins on his idea. I like it,
and I think it would also bring like an NHL
mentality back to the league because I love the nineties
NBA matchups of the Knicks and you know, fill in
the blank, because whoever the Knicks played, they had to
step up their game and be physical to match the
intensity of the New York Knicks.
Speaker 3 (37:18):
Yeah, I just think Cavino and you now that with
the demographics, right, like if you do watch kids play
at the gym or if you're shooting some hoops at
the at the school yard.
Speaker 2 (37:29):
When we were younger, you know what the hottest thing was.
The hottest thing was the neighborhood kid who had the
adjustable rim because we all wanted to slam dunk. No
one wants to slam dunk anymore. Yeah, you know, we
honestly want to see that. Look at the NBA All
Star Weekend. It's a real reflection.
Speaker 3 (37:46):
The three point shootout never was as cool as the
slam dunk contest. And now you can almost say that
that gets more attention than the slam dunk.
Speaker 2 (37:55):
Contest, especially from younger people who don't watch sports the
way we watch sports. Now we're gonna tell you what
DeMarcus cousins idea is to boost ratings and dive into
that a little bit. Oh plus again more Thursday night football.
But look at the time, let's go.
Speaker 1 (38:16):
If there's a surgeon, what we gonna do is go
back back into time.
Speaker 7 (38:24):
Throwing it back for a Thursday. Old School went fifty
hits at fifty after CNR give you the time capsule
topic and we reminisce together.
Speaker 2 (38:34):
Yeah, so we give you the hashtag TVT We throw
it back every Thursday and reminisce. So we you with
you at eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox. Would
like to get you involved again. Covino and Rich everything
at Covino and Rich at Fox Sports Radio. Now we
already mentioned I'm here in La Danny g Sam, We're
(38:55):
all here on the west side.
Speaker 1 (38:56):
Rich is on the East coast.
Speaker 2 (38:57):
I think we start this discussion with, well, you're doing
some hosting out there, right, and since you were in
New York City, what ended up happening last night?
Speaker 3 (39:06):
By the way, before I tell you what I did
last snek it ties into our old school.
Speaker 1 (39:10):
You said throwback Thursday.
Speaker 3 (39:12):
Yeah, I know exactly when that started to be used.
Give me your guest on what year was the first
time someone said throwback Thursday? Man, I mean, it's far.
Speaker 2 (39:22):
Yeah, it's got to be part of the Twitter social
media era. So i'll go twenty twenty fourteen.
Speaker 1 (39:29):
I was say, I'm any guesses two thousand and eight. Wow,
why two thousand and eight. I don't know.
Speaker 4 (39:34):
It just feels like it was introduced, kind of popularized
in two thousand and eight. I want to say it's
before that. I'm gonna say two thousand and two.
Speaker 2 (39:41):
You guys are all in the ballpark. O six the
moreay of throwback Thursday. According to The Sports Illustrated, it
was a basketball reference. At first, they would do throwback
Thursdays to old school NBA stuff. Oh wow, people caught
onto TBT. Next on two today, we'll go with the
origins of top Go Tuesday.
Speaker 1 (40:01):
All right.
Speaker 3 (40:02):
Meantime, in the meantime, last night, I was in New
York City for one night.
Speaker 1 (40:08):
I was in and out of the city.
Speaker 3 (40:09):
I'm going back, you know, I'm leaving town, but I
bring that up because I had one night and no
real plans and I said, you.
Speaker 1 (40:17):
Know what, I'm want to go see a show by myself.
Why not? No one's gonna ever want to see this
with me?
Speaker 3 (40:23):
Back to the Future on Broadway and if you are
into going to see shows with the wife or your girlfriend,
or if you want to bring your family, my review
is this fantastic when it comes to you know, it
was fun. The guy that played George wick Fly was great.
It was just it's just a good time. The music
(40:43):
was me because other than the Healey Lewis songs, it
was original music. The music it's a musical of sorts,
is that yeah, it's a Broadway show.
Speaker 1 (40:54):
Well I didn't know it was a full on musical.
Speaker 3 (40:56):
Besides Earth Angel, Power of Love and Be Good. They
had to come up with like original music, and the
original stuff wasn't great. But the special effects with the DeLorean,
like it felt like an amusement park ride.
Speaker 2 (41:08):
So I recommend seeing it. That's besides the point Danny.
Speaker 1 (41:11):
B It was like it was an amusement park ride
years ago if you remember it was.
Speaker 3 (41:15):
Yeah, but it's funny because Danny g hit me up
with it and article he saw, which is Back to
the Future will never have a fourth film. I know
we've been teased with like fake trailers like what if
they do it back to the Future for Well, it's
never gonna happen, and we'll tell you why. And it
inspired the thought of what old school movies and shows
(41:38):
should never have a reboot or a remake, and which
ones did that you wish didn't.
Speaker 2 (41:45):
All right, so eight ninety nine F Box, put your
thinking caps on and be Direland and get involved. Let
us know your thoughts, which shows, which movies should never
be remade.
Speaker 1 (41:57):
You'll take your feedback.
Speaker 3 (41:58):
Next Cavino and Ritch right here, Fox Sports right Thursday.
Speaker 1 (42:05):
M hmm
