Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
All ride Maring bring m went off this morning early
like mister Furley, like the old guy, alarm Jack, and
just one word came to mind. Fun. But then again,
I get so excited to fill in for DP Covino
and Rich day two of the Dan Patrick Unnatural Holiday

(00:28):
Hatrick Gary Christmas Eve, I'm Christmas Steve. That is Rich
And there's a way too many Christmas story references in
the studio. You already did your fudge. We have a
leg lamp and Spot's got a Buddy shirt on.

Speaker 3 (00:41):
Oh you got a Ralphie shirt on? I do with
the soap in his mouth.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
Most overrated Christmas movie and we're gonna get to it
on Today show. I think it's trash. I think it's Garbaggio. Well,
actually hold your horses. We're gonna talk about the greatest
r rated Christmas movies today for your adult viewing pleasures,
I guess. But if you want to dump on this classic, yeah,

(01:05):
be my guest. Hey, it's not like I love it
so much, although I do like it. Scott Farcas and
Ralphie and Randy and major Reward. I probably bought this
at Target because I had to wear it to a
stupid holiday party and it's the only reason I have it,
So today's the only appropriate day to wear it and
get my money's worth out of this ten.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
Dollars T shirt of Christmas story.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
So I'm trying to be festive like I said, Christmas Steve,
Christmas Eve, Happy Hanukkah Tomorrow, Merry Christmas, and thank you
guys for being here, like I said, always a pleasure
to fill in for Dan Patrick. If you missed yesterday's show.
I thought it was fun. I thought it went great,
So catch it on the podcast again. I'm Covino, that
is Rich. We're on two to four out here on
the West Monday through Friday on Fox Sports Radio five

(01:49):
to seven on the East. Just search Covino and Rich
wherever you scream your podcast. Let's welcome super producer Chase
step No.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
Hello.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
Yeah, he's a super producer. He's a super professional. He's
been there, done that, from Jim Rome to Doug Gottlieb,
He's done it all. He's an actor. He's probably been
in a Christmas movie. We don't even know about it.
So I feel like we're not worthy of the Jay Stu.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
I think he was probably in like Home Alone four no,
like Yeah, definitely in a Hallmark movie. Yeah, he's probably
been in one. He's done it all, no time, he
was in a Lifetime Christmas movie. Always fun to work with.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
Jay stew He's on the phones at eight seven seven
ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven ninety nine on
Fox and being the most interactive show, most inclusive show
on radio. We welcome you to talk trash, to say
Mary Christmas, to hit us up at Covino and Rich
at Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
On social media, Let's go.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
Did Jayce do play like the douchey big city boyfriend
that was holding the girl back? Yeah, he's definitely like
the Glenn Goulia type. Definitely the Glenn Goulia of Christmas movies.
So we'll talk Christmas movies. We're gonna talk the best
Christmas sports toy of your childhood. We haven't number one answer,
it's a clear answer. We're gonna talk a little Charlie
Woods if we have time, lots to get to I

(03:05):
just want to give him props. I think he seems
like a swell kid, like a nice fella, and I'm
happy for his moment with his dad is hold in one.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
That's really it?

Speaker 2 (03:14):
But before we talk Packers, Rich, Yes, So I hope
you had a Green Bay Packers sort of Monday night.
Can I just say that it was a boring game?
So the whole time I'm sitting there watching him dominate,
and I'm like, all right, can I turn it off?

Speaker 4 (03:30):
Now?

Speaker 2 (03:30):
How about now? How about now? And I'm debating that
keep it on? Eh, But I gotta wake up early.
I want to get out with my night. So I
put on Dexter Original Sin, the new series episodes deep,
three episodes deep now, and I gotta tell you, I
think there's a lot of people people sleep on things
like the Packers. People are sleeping on the new Dexter prequel.

(03:55):
If you never watched Dexter, it doesn't matter. But I
could say it's probably one of the best of our
twenty years of working together.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
I agree. I'm a big Dexter fan. So I like
what you're saying.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
People are sleeping on two things, Dexter and the Green
Bay Packers that we're gonna get to. Yeah, why in
a second, maybe it's a hot woman that nobody talks about.
And you're like, I can't believe nobody talks about it.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
Who else?

Speaker 2 (04:18):
What else are we sleeping on? Because the Packers are
probably the number one answer. But please, let me just
tell you this. I'm thinking to myself self, gotta wake
up five am out here on the West side to
do DP.

Speaker 3 (04:30):
Can't stay up that late.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
So I shut the game off because the Packers are
destroying right They're dominating this game. I put on Dexter.
Two new episodes are out, there's three total. This is
the prequel to the original series Dexter. So they had
to recast, and this is the key. They had to
recast all the characters you grew up knowing and casting

(04:54):
is everything, and this is why you love it. The
guy that plays young Dexter a young Michael C.

Speaker 4 (04:59):
Hall.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
Almost identical, dude, You're like, that's the guy, ah dentical.
The guy that plays Bautista, same guy, lu Guerta is
Christina Milian, Like, it's unbelievable casting Masuka remember that guy,
of course, the Asian dude, the young version of him,
totally different guy, all different people, different cast, identical, nailing

(05:22):
the part. You could see how well it was written.
It's so good, dude. I'm not into prequels and things
like that. This is so worth the watch, and it's
narrated You got me by the original Michael C.

Speaker 3 (05:32):
Hall.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
So my point is, by the way, when you said,
you know, Masilka'm like the Asian guy, I knew that
it wasn't just a guess because that would have been
the easiest guest. Oh Masuka, the Asian guy.

Speaker 3 (05:42):
Oh yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
Well look, Covino and were celebrated twenty years of working together.
Twenty years of working together and still the youngest in
the game. I don't know how. And we were on
the air when Sopranos was running. Okay, Dexter's right up
there with the best. People sleep on it, and people
are sleeping on the new series. I'm here to tell
you watch it and enjoy, and you could write me

(06:06):
a thank you note at Steve Covino. There was a
turning point in the original Dexter. See I watched the
whole series, my Dark Passenger, But there's a lot of
people that said after the John Lithgow season, who are
those people who show me them? Like most people, that's
the key. It's like walking dead. It's like I want
to be dead. When people say when Carl died, they

(06:28):
gave up everybody there was, there was a point, there's outrage.
Where's the outrage? Show me the outrage speaking in uh
in in social media headlines? Who said it sucked after that?

Speaker 3 (06:40):
Show me?

Speaker 2 (06:40):
I'm a punch him in the face. No one's ever
said it. Dexter was great and I love the criticism.
Was the last episode of the final season right and
how it ended, And I'm telling you they I think
they saved it because they had a comeback.

Speaker 3 (06:53):
But watch it and enjoy. But the point is people are.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
Sleeping on it the same way they're sleeping on the
Green Bay Packers.

Speaker 3 (07:03):
Cuz look, I do the show with Rich every day.
He loves talking NFL.

Speaker 2 (07:07):
This dude never mentions the Packers, and I see that.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
Every once in a while.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
I see one dude say, hey, man, we watched the
talking heads on TV.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
We watched the people on ESPN fighting just like you do.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
I see Herbstreet and stephen A and yeah.

Speaker 3 (07:24):
I see them having words.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
Every once in a while, I'll hear somebody say, man,
if there's any team that could be any team, any
given day, any given Sunday in the NFL, is to
Green Bay packers once in a while. I hear that
once in a blue moon. But they're not sexy. No
one really likes to talk about them. You don't think
Jordan loves sexy.

Speaker 3 (07:45):
They're sleeping on. I think that Michael C. Hall and
Jordan Love have a lot in common. We both have
dark passengers.

Speaker 2 (07:56):
I think Jay stew you and I before the show,
we're talking about how it's almost like Jordan Love has
an on switch that's flipped. By the way, no relation
to Darlene Love. Right, Christmas Baby, please come home. I
think it's his aunt. Is it no start that rumor?
I heard Buddy Love is his uncle? Buddy Love? By
the way, the game was so boring last night. Did

(08:17):
you see in the fourth quarter Joe Buck's doing elf impressions?
You know, I think I missed. You told me, but
I missed that part. I must have been sweeping the
floor out of boared them. They're coming out of commercial
at this point. It's like twenty seven nothing.

Speaker 3 (08:30):
Can I give you.

Speaker 2 (08:31):
Two indicators and when you know you're tuned out of
the game or you're bored, yeah, when you start looking
at your phone as indicator number one. This is not
grabbing my attention. I'd rather look at something stupid on
social media. I'm feeling the compulsion to look. Or when
you just start wiping down your counters or you pick
up a broom, you're like, I guess the game is

(08:51):
kind of boring because if I choose cleaning over that,
it means I'm just trying to do two things at once.

Speaker 3 (08:57):
Oh, we get those smudges on the window.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
They're coming out of commercial and they panned to the
crowd and there's a bunch of people dressed up like
Buddy the Elf, and Joe Buck's like.

Speaker 3 (09:08):
Hey, Buddy Hope, you're fun. You're dead, And I'm like, well, no, bit,
Joe Buck.

Speaker 2 (09:12):
It's doing alf impressions. There's nothing wrong with it. Was
going into a football game, you know. I think that's
where sports made a wrong turn. It's sports, it's entertainment,
and people take it far too. Not that they shouldn't
take a series, but in a stuffy way.

Speaker 4 (09:28):
Right.

Speaker 2 (09:28):
I always found interesting that a bunch of sports fans
wearing beer helmets watch dudes and suits talk about it.

Speaker 3 (09:35):
I agree, one hundred percent.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
Guys with face paint in the stands and dudes with
suits breaking it down wearing cufflings.

Speaker 3 (09:42):
Yeah, it's fun.

Speaker 2 (09:44):
So to see Joe Buck have a little fun with
a boring game is okay with me. So let's talk
about the Packers for a second. And I'm not one
of these Jibbronis that have been downplaying you are GABBRONI
though the Green Bay Packers. My wife, her family, they're
Packers fans. So like I got my dad heard to
the streets of the Packers.

Speaker 3 (10:02):
Beating the squads.

Speaker 2 (10:03):
Oh, meaning you don't you never talked about I'm the
Steelers And I'm starting to see why the steer because
I never believed in him. But last night there's certain
teams that you just don't hit on and the public
sort of forgets. Let me let me first of all,
tell everyone about the worst beat last night. You know,
Scott van Pelt does bad beats when a bet just misses.

(10:23):
I just happened to see someone adamantly on social media
talking about the best bet of the night might be
Jordan Love under twenty nine attempts passing the ball because
the thought was Green Bay would be up so big
they'd run the ball in the second half, and he's

(10:45):
thrown under thirty passes the last like three out of
four games. So I was like, you know what, let
me keep it eye. I didn't make the bet, and
then in the fourth quarter he's at twenty eight. I'm like, oh,
this could be close. They take him out for the
last seas. So anyone that made that bet twenty eight
attempts and Vegas had it at twenty nine sixteen for

(11:07):
twenty eight one hundred eighty two yards one tuddy, no picks.
Just a very easy night of work for green Bay.
So to show that I'm not sleeping on this team,
I immediately looked at the Super Bowl odds because I
could see one team that I think is the best value.

(11:27):
It's by far Matt Lafleur, Jordan Love, and these Green
Bay Packers. They're just in a loaded division. You're gonna
hate this analogy, but dare I say, if you do
it like Colin Cowhert, I might like it. Stars attract stars,
stars and stars are stars stars. So when you're in

(11:50):
a division with two thirteen and two teams and everyone's
talking about the gutsy ballsy Lions and everyone saw talking
about Sam Darnold, it's not a good story anymore. This
guy's legit they're thirteen and two. When you're talking about
two thirteen and two teams, and then you got the

(12:12):
Packers eleven and four, two games behind them, it's so
easy to sleep on them. Dare I say, it's like
my New York Mets last year. Yes, they caught lightning
in a bottle in the playoffs until they hit Jay
Stews Dodgers in reality struck, but the Mets spent the
whole season in third place behind the Phillies and the Braves,

(12:37):
and it made sense because those teams were arguably just better.
Or the Mets stunk for like two months. That was
part of it. You tuned out. I hate to call
you out, but that's the reason. The reason you tuned
out is because they sucked so bad, which is why
it was such a good story when they pulled it

(12:59):
all together last month and a half of the season.

Speaker 3 (13:01):
Yeah, but let it be known they sucked for a
good run. They did.

Speaker 2 (13:05):
But what I'm saying is they still ended up winning.
Oh man, they had a magical season, ended up winning
eighty nine games, and they sort of had a bad
last week of the season. So the Mets are like
they were like a ninety win team and went way
unto the radar because all year long it was all
about Bryce Harper and the Phillies. And lookat Atlanta won

(13:25):
the World Series a couple of years ago. In the
next year, yeah, and I think no one really paid attention.
And I think right now we're so hung up on
man listen and the Niners are out of it, So
it's gonna be a new representative in the NFC. Are
the Lions finally gonna do it? Oh my god, what
a great story with Minnesota. And then the other narrative
is like, oh, we don't really want Philly again unless
you live in Philly. No one's talking about Green Bay

(13:48):
right now. And the Super Bowl odds, see the Super
Bowl odds right now are fantastic for the Green Bay Packers.
The worst value you want the worst value Detroit and
Kansas City are both roughly plus four hundred. Now for
the non gambling fool. Plus four hundred means you bette hundred,

(14:09):
you win four hundred. That's terrible value. Kansas City plus
four hundred plus four fifty at some sportsbooks, plus three
seventy five meaning you getting like three to one odds,
four to one odds right now in Vegas one two, three, four,
five six. They have the seventh best odds, and the

(14:30):
reason is Comino that they're gonna have to play every
round of the playoffs, and they're gonna have to play
every round on the row ad because they're a wild card.
But right now, the green Bay Packers are plus fourteen
hundred and plus fifteen hundred in some places. That to
me is great value. I know that means they have

(14:52):
to go on the road multiple times, But do you
really look at green Bay and say they are a
lesser team than Troit Minnesota?

Speaker 3 (15:01):
Yes, Philadelphia? Really?

Speaker 5 (15:03):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (15:04):
And here's why. And I look at I'm a fight fan.
I look at football the same way I look at fights.
I look for the best matchups. I like matchups, and
I have a team. I watch the games that entry
interests me the most based on the matchup, and any
fight that goes down, I'm like, all right, well who

(15:25):
did he be? Or anytime I'm thinking of any box
or a fighter, I'm like, well, who did he beat?
Who did he lose to? By the way, the most
weird fact about Steve could know if you're new to
our show, most of all the things about you, and
I'm sure, you can have a lot of weird things
about me, the fact that you don't have a football
team every other sport, Yes, football is like I watched
the Mets. How do you not have a lot of

(15:45):
the Great Stone. I don't think Colin Cowhert does either,
a lot of the great Yeah.

Speaker 3 (15:50):
I keep my opinions, you know, objective.

Speaker 2 (15:55):
It keeps me honest journalists, and it keeps me tuned
in because how much of in games that I like
it as opposed to one team you were as much
of your journalist as Bobby the Brain. Hew you already
tuned out because your niners are out. I'm still tuned
in because I like the matchups every week.

Speaker 3 (16:10):
Where's an NFL hat like Rob Low did that? I do?

Speaker 4 (16:13):
I do?

Speaker 2 (16:14):
It's true, no, no, no, But like anytime a boxer
comes up, I'm like, well, what was his legacy? He
lost three fights? Well who did he lose to? And
if he loses to all the big names, like all right,
he beating nobody, nobody, nobody, nobody, but he lost to
three names that I know. It's like, well he was good,
but he wasn't that good because he lost to all

(16:34):
the big names. I look up the Wikipedia and the
fight records the same way you're looking at, well, who
did Green Bay lose to?

Speaker 3 (16:42):
They're eleven and.

Speaker 2 (16:43):
Four, right, he's a big Roger Goodel fan. They're eleven
and four. They lost to the Eagles. They lost to
the Lions twice. If I'm not mistaken. Yes, they lost
to the Broncos in the preseason. That's preseason. So they
lost to the Lion. The Lions get the you're gonna
may make this battle. Get your schedule ready, and they'll
be looking at preseason games. No, I just said it.

(17:04):
They lost to the Lions, Lions, Vikings, Eagles. This is horses. Okay,
I don't know that does not I again, styles make fights.
Matchups are what I love, so I get it. But
if they can't beat those teams, that says a lot
to me. I'm not saying that's to be all end all,
but it shows that those teams are a little bit
better to me. Doesn't mean they can't make adjustments. Sports life, football,

(17:28):
it's all about adjustments. Do you think they have enough
momentum where oh they could beat an Eagles, they could
beat the Lions.

Speaker 3 (17:34):
They could you know what I mean? They could be
that team they could beat a Vikings. I don't know.

Speaker 2 (17:38):
I think they're good, but they're like right under, right
under that level of good.

Speaker 3 (17:42):
They got like a bright future.

Speaker 6 (17:44):
I think Vegas might disagree with you, Cove. You know,
only because I just looked at the odds for Sunday.
This is early. Packers are at the Vikings and they
are getting a point and a half, which essentially means
they're favorite. I had Vegas thinks the packers, and I would.

Speaker 3 (18:00):
Never bet against Vegas. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (18:02):
Somehow they always know these things, and I often wonder, like, rich,
how do they know?

Speaker 3 (18:07):
How do they know?

Speaker 4 (18:08):
Cat?

Speaker 2 (18:08):
I hate to call you up because it is, you know,
Christmas Eve and your Christmas Steve, their stupid ass Christmas
story shirt on.

Speaker 3 (18:17):
Hey, I came in festive.

Speaker 2 (18:19):
Yeah, we're all festive except you, except for you, who
rolls out in his pajamas.

Speaker 3 (18:23):
Is that a buffalo in your shirt? Yeah? It's a
Catalina Island trip was the wine mixer.

Speaker 2 (18:29):
So they're going to call me out on I mean,
I want to call you out. Your word is no
better than mine. It's not like you have a crystal ball,
you bonehead. Do you have Biff's Almanac where you're right
and I'm wrong. I don't think so. I'm just telling
you why I think what I think. But you just
said the matchups show you that when they played those

(18:49):
better teams. Can I give you the scores of these
games you speak of, and I want to tell you
when these games were But how do my facts lose
to your just assumption here? Based on the scores? Were close?
But they still lost because you have a crystal ball.
Like I said, are you a genie of sorts?

Speaker 3 (19:12):
Week one of the NFL Brazil That feels like an
eternity ago. Remember that game? Yeah? I do.

Speaker 2 (19:21):
We're talking about all the Brazilian booties and remember there
was the rumor like could they wear green and Brazil?
That would that felt like ten years ago. They lost
thirty four twenty nine in a like a really back
and forth Week one game against the Eagles that you
can't even count that three months later, that's like that's
a different team that that's start. Sorry, cross that change.

(19:43):
What's the update on Hurtz by the way, I don't know.
I'll look it up a second, but do you know
I want to tell concussion protocol. Yeah it still happened. Okay,
So if you're gonna tell me, yeah, he's not playing. Yeah,
Green Bay, you know they would have the edge. Now,
no question, it's a long season. Things change. I get
all that that game was a two point game until

(20:07):
a field goal Ice did at the end. And again,
you know, and that was But hold on, rich as
we go through this, and it's fun to look back
and see if they've improved, if you think there would
be a different outcome. I do appreciate that. You know,
there's a reason that we're talking about this. People are
sleeping on them. I think they're because they're not. They
haven't proven yet that they could beat that caliber of team. Yeah,

(20:30):
they could romp of Saints thirty four to nothing. So
they lose Week one in Brazil. Odd game you're traveling
around the world. Now let's go to week four. They
lose to the Vikings by two in September. Again, this
is like Vikings got any less though they're on finne

(20:50):
of the two. But you know what, though, it's like
you're a big baseball fan, it's like me talking about
a Yankees game in April or may come postseason. It's like, dude,
that was a different squad, that was a different team.
Could the Packers win? I'm not hating on the Packers.
I think there are really exciting thing. They've lost close
games to everyone in this division. That's the problem. They
lost to the Lions twice. But you know what, Yeah,

(21:12):
but when they lost to the Lions last a couple
weeks ago, you know what, that score was thirty four
to thirty one and it was fantastic and it was
in Detroit.

Speaker 3 (21:20):
Could they win? Yeah? But they didn't. Does Vegas say
something different? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (21:26):
So I'm probably wrong, but the proof is here and
the wins and losses. If you ask me, I think
I like the Packers. Let's make it clearer. And that's
the reason we're talking about them. People are sleeping on them.
They could beat all of these teams any given day.
I agree with that, but they haven't. I also think
Tyson Fury could beat Alexander Usik maybe on another day,

(21:47):
but he didn't. So your thoughts other things were sleeping on?
I thought of a few bands. I thought of a
few fighters. So maybe there's women, maybe there's shows. I
told you Dexter original sin. Who are the Packers of
your life? Who else are we sleeping on? That's a
good question, Yeah, anything else is there? It's a brand.
Can I give you a brand before we talk about
rapid radios? Don't sleep on rapid radios. Don't sleep on them.

(22:12):
You go to Target with your WiFi, right, You go
in there for one thing and then you end up
with a five hundred dollars bill. You ever see the
brand good Fellow at Target? I think people are sleeping
on it. It's a good brand, discounts store, good brand.
Do you know how many people are like, yeah, what'd
you get that? And I'm like, don't worry about it,
you know, I say, don't worry about it because I
don't want to.

Speaker 3 (22:31):
Tell we got it at Target.

Speaker 2 (22:32):
Goodfellow is a great clothing brand, and everybody sleeps on
it because no one wants to admit that they got
their clothes at Target. It's a really good brand. I
like it a lot, Okay, I just don't like telling
people when I buy clothes at Costco.

Speaker 3 (22:47):
That's well, still so.

Speaker 2 (22:49):
But I think it's like such a good quality seasonal.
I'm not saying it is made from the greatest materials
in all the land, but I really feel like, hey,
if you need some shorts, you want to go to
Lucky Store, pay one hundred dollars for a pair of shorts,
go to the mall and overpay, or go to Target
because you need shorts and you paid it at thirty bucks.

Speaker 3 (23:10):
You know whatever?

Speaker 2 (23:11):
What else are we sleeping on besides the nude dexter
and the Green Bay Packers? What in life is it
a new good looking woman on the scene? Is it
a show? Is it a team? Is it to the packers?
I agree we're sleeping on the packers? Who are the
packers of your life?

Speaker 1 (23:25):

Hmmm.

Speaker 2 (24:34):
Happy Holidays. Kelly Clarkson, right, who threw some shade at
her ex husband. I like how Rich pretended to not know,
but he's like her biggest fan. I do love Kelly Clawchson.
While you making it sound like this shame in that
I'm not too cool like.

Speaker 3 (24:47):
You are, I'm calling out the fact that you pretended
to not mount. Sorry, I know you love her.

Speaker 2 (24:51):
Sorry, it's not limp biscuit, you mean limp Christmas Christmas.

Speaker 4 (24:56):
Ris.

Speaker 2 (24:57):
I just want to make sure because I think this
is one of those songs that breaks the Christmas code.
And I saw that she fears some shaded her ex husband.
And when you have kids, I know there's a lot
of people living that divorce life where you try your
hardest not to throw shade at your ex.

Speaker 3 (25:12):
I know it's not always easy. She posted a picture
just give me a Trump right there. I know it's
not always easy, not easy. Did you hear this? Guys?
Not easy?

Speaker 2 (25:23):
Are you Ryan Seacrest or Donald Trump? Figure it out?
I don't know who I'm talking to. I had to
turn around because I thought Trump was there.

Speaker 3 (25:31):
Let me tell you something. It's not easy. So that's
Kelly Clark. Then you're American idol. It's not easy. It
is not easy anyway. You know.

Speaker 2 (25:44):
I'm you know, sometimes I'm morphed between the Donald and Seacrest,
I guess. But she threw shaded her ex husband, posting
a picture of force stockings by a by a fireplace
and it said Kelly her two kids' names, and the
last stockings said nope. And people like is that necessary?
Like I feel like during the holiday season, it's petty,

(26:07):
but it's funny. Maybe it was just a funny thing.
I don't I like Kelly clarks It's definitely petty. I
know you're a bigger fan of a Klay Aiken, huge fan.
Ruben Stuttered is Clarkson's ex. Justin Warini. No, that was
the guy should just beat on American And I'm glad
you guys got that. Yeah, but he is no sweet one.
He's the sweet one.

Speaker 3 (26:26):
You know that. No on the doctor Pepper commercial. You
know the little tiny guy.

Speaker 1 (26:30):
That sweet one.

Speaker 3 (26:31):
It's that sweet one.

Speaker 6 (26:32):
This is Justin Warreini.

Speaker 3 (26:33):
Yeah, Justin who do you think it was?

Speaker 4 (26:35):
Prince?

Speaker 2 (26:37):
No, Justin GARENI man, Yeah. So anyway, that's Chance Stu.
He's on the phones at eight seven, seven ninety nine
on Fox. Jase Stu producing always great to see Jason
always you got Mark Ramsey, Is Cavino and rich In
for Dan Patrick. Spotty's on the Videos, the most interactive
show on radio Again. We're on from two to four
on the West Monday through Friday, five to seven on
the East. But just search Covino and rich Revery stream

(26:59):
pod cass. In fact, we have a bonus podcast called
over Promised, which you could watch on Fox Sports Radios
YouTube page, and that's basically what we're highlighting right now
because we sort of talked about this on over Promise,
but I really didn't dive into the best R rated
Christmas movies. I'm wondering if we forgot any, and don't
forget Next Hour if you're still hanging with us, which
I hope you are. We caught up with Mike Tyson

(27:22):
a week ago and he really is one of the
most fascinating dudes on planet Earths and he talked about
everything from edibles to his fight with Jake Paul to
everything so licking toads and drugs and everything. So Mike
Tyson Next Hour right here in for Dan, Patrick Cavino
and Rich So let's get into this your top five
rated R Christmas movies. When you're watching a holiday movie,

(27:45):
well you want some laughs. You don't care if there's
a little nudity or some cursing. The movies that you're
not watching around your kids that are highly entertaining.

Speaker 3 (27:53):
Well, I want to take it back on a Tuesday,
real quick.

Speaker 2 (27:57):
Bundy Frank stallone, do Doo, Do doo, take it back
to the thrill of when you were a kid and
just hoping that it was an R rated special feature
on HBO that music.

Speaker 3 (28:10):
Would kicking rated R.

Speaker 2 (28:23):
Yes, and you're so happy you stayed up late to
watch that rated ARR movie. I just wanted to reminisce
and experience that with you, Rich because that was a thrill,
because you knew you were gonna see some some good
quality entertainment when you saw that rated R. What are
you gonna say? Some things good quality entertainment. Now, speaking

(28:44):
of R rated movies, these are the best R rated
Christmas movies according to us. And you could agree, disagree,
add a few, but these are the top five.

Speaker 3 (28:53):
We agree on four of them. So number five is
The Night Before.

Speaker 2 (28:58):
If you have not seen this movie, it's seth Rogen,
Anthony Mackie, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Lizzy Kamplin, James Franco. It's
just a story of a bunch of pals that are
hanging out, you guys, the night before Christmas. Some of
them Seth Rogan, he's Jewish, so they were celebrating hankaht

(29:19):
Christmas together old pals. They try to go to some
crazy party. Well there's just a lot of like sex
and drugs and craziness and it's just a good like
a good laugh out loud Christmas Honikah comedy. Yeah, it's
their yearly reunion and it got hot saw in twenty fifteen.

Speaker 3 (29:37):
I saw it with you. I remember that.

Speaker 2 (29:39):
So it came out twenty fifteen, number five R rated
Joseph Gordon Levitt Seth Rogan the night before Anthony Mackie
shout out to him, and that brings us to number four.

Speaker 3 (29:51):
When did this one come out? Trying to remember twenty sixteen?

Speaker 2 (29:54):
I believe because it was Christmas Party, because you remember
a young Jimmy Butler, because he had a cameo in
the movie. It was twenty sixteen, and that stands out
to me, believe it or not, because he wasn't household name, lovable.
Everybody knows Jimmy Butler at the time. He was star
on the Rise and he has this cameo as himself
in the mofy So Office Christmas Party with our pal

(30:16):
at the time, Olivia Munn, Jason Bateman, who everybody loves.
By the way, carry On, Aniston, Have you watched Carry
On yet?

Speaker 4 (30:24):
No?

Speaker 3 (30:24):
I haven't. Fantastic on Netflix.

Speaker 2 (30:26):
Pretty good, but dig go, I know there's a lot
of buzz TJ Miller's in that one Guys Office Christmas Party,
and that's exactly what it's about. The whole point of
that movie is that it's like a company that's sort
of like shutting down or they're trying. They need a
couple of big clients, so to entertain the clients, they
throw a ridiculous party.

Speaker 3 (30:47):
And is Don Cheetah in that movie. No, it's Tim Meadows.
It is Tim Metos, Tim Metos at I'm jok. We
always say it's like the same guy.

Speaker 2 (31:00):
So good Office Christmas Party, Jason Bateman at his usual self.
Everything about that movie's fantastic, So Jason Bateman Aniston Office
Christmas Party. That's number four, now number three on our
list of R rated Christmas movies. Agree or disagree, Oh,
two thousand and eight, Four Christmases. I recommend this to
my mom the other day and she's like, it was

(31:20):
so funny. My Mom's like, I need a Christmas movie
to watch, and she's watched all the classic like Happy Ones.
I go, you want to watch something just really funny.
Vince Vaughan, Reese Witherspoon. They both come from divorce families.
Let's just say Christmas plans get out of hand. If
you haven't seen this movie and they visit all four
of the families, yeah, and all four families obviously are

(31:41):
very different and dysfunctional and crazy.

Speaker 3 (31:44):
Four Christmas is definitely got to be on this list.

Speaker 2 (31:47):
You know what's crazy about it? Though, Rotten Potatoes gave
it twenty five percent. As I that's why I run
potatoes Potatoes. I don't believe that crap because if that's
the case, every Adam Sandler movie or dumb movie we
loved in our childhood, Tommy, you know Farley movies probably
all got terrible ratings there too. So Vince Vaughan at
his best, your favorite Chenna with again, Oh Katie Mixing

(32:09):
from Eastbound and Down is in that movie. You'd love
me some Katie Mixing Four Christmases two thousand and eight.
That brings us to number two in our top rated
R rated Christmas Movies that you could check out this
weekend instead of a Christmas Story, which I'm representing as
we speak.

Speaker 3 (32:28):
But she has the most overrated.

Speaker 2 (32:30):
If it didn't air, if they didn't have a deal
with like a cable provider, I don't know if that
movie would have have ever gained steam in fact, the
sequel they made like a year ago was better than
the original.

Speaker 3 (32:39):
I thought the sequel was good.

Speaker 2 (32:40):
Yeah, I think a Christmas story Missus the Mark and
everyone else loves it.

Speaker 3 (32:45):
I don't get it.

Speaker 2 (32:45):
Remember how we talked about the packers first hour and
how people sleep on them. But now you're taking note.
But it's going to be slipped on right because I
don't know. It's a nice way to sneak in, like, ah, gotcha,
you were looking for me, but here I am. I
feel like people sleep on our number two because I
think that people forget it's a Christmas movie. No, not Diehard,

(33:06):
you boneheads. Daddy's Home Too. Daddy's Home two is so
good that it could be my number one. I mean
think of the cast. Will Ferrell.

Speaker 3 (33:18):
Yeah, are you JAYSETU?

Speaker 2 (33:19):
I feel like you're not You're like, huh, Daddy's Home Too,
Daddy's Home not a Christians original? Yeah, yeah, so did
I And I watched the second one with like maybe
like not the highest hopes like a sequel to Daddy's
Homes really good. It takes place around Christmas. It's a craze,
straight up a Christmas and it's Will Ferrell. It's Will
Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg and their dads are Mel.

Speaker 3 (33:41):
Gibson and John Lithgow.

Speaker 2 (33:42):
Yeah, and they're all in like a cabin for the
holidays and John in it and John.

Speaker 3 (33:48):
It's ridiculously entertaining. It really is.

Speaker 6 (33:51):
Wait a minute, have I seen this? Which one does
the do they know it's Christmas? Is that the original?
Aren't they in a movie theater? Yes, that's one.

Speaker 3 (34:00):
Two, that's part two. That's part two. Yeah, that's a
great movie. So I've seen both of them. Interesting, you
have seen it?

Speaker 2 (34:05):
Yeah, see people forget Let's sleep on Daddy's Home too.
It is a Christmas movie. It's not like a debate
like we think it's a Christmas No, it is a
Christmas Moveday. There's a funny fight scene by the Nativity scene. Oh,
it's really funny. Man, and the cast is great. Twenty seventeen.
I'm like a tough c like I don't want to
like these movies, and I like this movie. So that's
Daddy's Home two. That's our number two in our best

(34:29):
R rated Christmas Movies. Now here's where it gets touchy,
because Rich and I couldn't disagree more on our next
two selections here because Rich has a number one and
I have a number one, and I can't necessarily say, oh,
this is the greatest one of all time. But I
just hate his so much that anything's better than his choice.

Speaker 3 (34:52):
My choice for number one is a movie that I
feel like you have to watch every year. Barf.

Speaker 2 (34:57):
It's it's a combination of like eight great stories into
one fantastic tale. There's heart, there's humor. There's a porn scene.
It's not a porn scene. There porn standing.

Speaker 3 (35:10):
You know, nothing says Mary Christmas like a good porn scene.
Am I right?

Speaker 2 (35:14):
Maybe you want to cover your kid's eyes during that part.
There's office romance, there's sadness. If you don't appreciate love. Actually,
he's probably bad person, weakest movie ever, honestly, And I know,
Jaysu you like it, so I feel back, So I
love jays Due. I can't believe you like this. I honestly,
you're a man of great taste. The soundtrack, I can't

(35:37):
believe it. That's phenomenal.

Speaker 3 (35:39):
I hate this movie. He gets a beatlesome Kelly Clark.

Speaker 2 (35:41):
He likes to do the dance that Hugh Grant does. Yeah,
now here's the thing. Rich and I have been doing
the show for twenty years, right, and Rich always says
this is his favorite Christmas movie. I do find it
to be appropriate for this conversation because we're specifically discussing
R rated Christmas movie. Okay, so I do believe that. Okay,

(36:03):
maybe it's on this list or at least it belongs
in the discussion because it's an R rated Christmas movie.
But he brings it up all the time as his
all time favorite no matter what, and that's where I
have the problem. But I'm gonna say Bad Sanna as
a as a current day, not your current day, but
a newer classic for sure media because I feel like

(36:25):
it started the really jump started the genre of R
rated Christmas movies. Bad Santa Therman, Merman, Fortune Fiemster as
Therman Merman, Right?

Speaker 3 (36:38):
Or is that Iowa Sam? I can't tell.

Speaker 2 (36:40):
Therman, Merman, Billy, Bob Thornton, Bernie Mack, Bad Santa Bro.
So your thoughts because I despise love, actually give me
a break.

Speaker 3 (36:51):
I watched that movie. I hated it.

Speaker 2 (36:54):
I don't know what can you hate about it? Like
it was any redeeming anything. It's like I'm gonna be
the scene of the h that starts with the slow
motion airport scene, right, Yeah, I thought that was like
a beautiful scene.

Speaker 3 (37:06):
Everything else sucked.

Speaker 6 (37:08):
And people forget that. The most iconic scene from Love
Actually are the cards, right, the cards to the Yeah
with Rick from The Walking Dead, Right, that's the thing
most people think. Wait, is that Rick from the Walking Dead?
That's what he's an over.

Speaker 3 (37:22):
Yeah, Andrew Lincoln.

Speaker 6 (37:24):
But did Bad Sanna not make your top five?

Speaker 3 (37:26):
Rich not a fan? So out? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (37:28):
I mean yeah, so out of the top five. And
by the way, they both came out. They both came
out two thousand and three, Love Actually and Bad Santa.

Speaker 6 (37:34):
Interesting, Yeah, I.

Speaker 2 (37:36):
Mean Billy Max singing his Christmas song, Corny, Liam Neeson
trying to find love. I mean the weakest we're all
ever and I love Liam Neeson, Hugh Grant, Corny.

Speaker 1 (37:48):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Dan
Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio WAPP.

Speaker 2 (37:57):
We caught up last week with the legend Mike Tyson.
We wanted you to hear it, and here's how it
went down. Let's walcome with glory and renown Iron, Mike
Tyson one.

Speaker 3 (38:17):
But Mike nuts.

Speaker 5 (38:19):
Okay, now you're.

Speaker 1 (38:21):
Nuts, Mike, You're nuts. Man.

Speaker 2 (38:22):
Y'all we're obviously huge fans, and uh, I don't know,
the most intriguing man in the world, Mike Tyson on
the shelf, the most interesting man on the planet. It's
a pleasure to be hanging with you. I'm great to
see you again. So Mike, let's get right into it. Man.
Not many people could break the Internet with their butt cheeks,
but you did.

Speaker 3 (38:40):
How did it make you feel? Man? Tell us about
that moment.

Speaker 4 (38:44):
Hey, colevision had really changed, but that became a big thing.

Speaker 5 (38:49):
That's just so ridiculous.

Speaker 2 (38:52):
Did you expect that to be even a little story?
When the fight was over.

Speaker 4 (38:58):
And I've looked, I've been that way my whole career,
my butt been showing on took a picture of it.

Speaker 2 (39:03):
Hey, did you ever think, well, maybe it's just better
than ever because it seemed like the whole world is
taken by it.

Speaker 5 (39:09):
Hey, man, I guess so, I don't know. Look a
new time ever, Mike.

Speaker 2 (39:14):
As we as we signed on here to see you,
you lit up Tyson two point oh. Last time we
saw you in Vegas, you handed me a bag of
your mic bites.

Speaker 3 (39:22):
The edibles fantastic. I love them.

Speaker 2 (39:26):
Yeah, I gotta tell you, I see Aaron Rodgers doing ayahuasca.
You were smoking toad venom? You got Tyson two point zero?
Tell us what we got to be trying? And what
do you recommend for a guy that's open to this?

Speaker 4 (39:39):
Hey, I recommend you try everything.

Speaker 3 (39:41):
Yeah, open your mind.

Speaker 5 (39:43):
Though you try everything?

Speaker 2 (39:45):
Yeah, what would you say you've learned from your experiences
with toad venom and all your experiences.

Speaker 4 (39:53):
That definitely beautiful and definitely nothing to be afraid of.

Speaker 3 (39:57):
Is that why you're willing to leave it all in
the ring?

Speaker 5 (40:00):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (40:00):
I think that's just my personality, but that what I
love my mom, all of this medicine was not to be.

Speaker 5 (40:07):
Afraid of that.

Speaker 2 (40:09):
You know, that's kind of an interesting statement because a
lot of us think about those things right before we're
going to sleep, right, some deeper stuff. If you're not
afraid of things like that, Mike, from your experiences, what
do you think about before you go to bed? What
sort of stuff runs to your mind?

Speaker 4 (40:23):
Listen, I don't even think about always trying to be
the best that could possibly be the best, me that
could be before I go to bed.

Speaker 2 (40:30):
Well, you're a great dad. We know that you're a
great family man. Congrats on your beautiful family. We saw
your family on the Netflix special. We saw your daughter
is a great tennis player. We saw you there supporting
your daughter. Is there any other sport Mike Tyson could
have competed in besides boxing?

Speaker 4 (40:48):
I don't know. I would like to try tennis. Well,
do you ever tennis fans over here?

Speaker 3 (40:53):
Are you any good? Have you tried or no?

Speaker 4 (40:55):
Thanks? So no, I tried to hit the ball before
it what's so far into here?

Speaker 3 (41:00):
Imagine Mike in the eighties wearing those little John McEnroe shorts.

Speaker 4 (41:03):
Yeah, like me playing baseball with a tennis racket.

Speaker 2 (41:07):
No, but you're you're such a disciplined guy, right, and
you could be great at anything you put your mind to.

Speaker 3 (41:12):
You showed that in boxing. Do you think there's.

Speaker 2 (41:14):
Another sport you could have been a professional at if
you dedicated yourself to that.

Speaker 5 (41:18):
Yeah, I had no idea about that.

Speaker 3 (41:20):
No, just boxing.

Speaker 5 (41:22):
Well I knew was boxing.

Speaker 3 (41:23):
Yeah, Mike, I'm a big Mets fan.

Speaker 2 (41:25):
And there's a classic picture of you in the eighties
with Darryl Strawberry and Doc Goodin, and you know, at
the at the height of what they were doing and
what you were doing. What athletes now are you intrigued by?
Like who are you following in the boxing world, NBA football?
There other athletes you keep your eye on.

Speaker 5 (41:43):
I'm just I'm just a guy chilling out. I'm not
much of it.

Speaker 4 (41:47):
I don't watch sports much besides tennis.

Speaker 5 (41:50):
I don't know most of the most of the guys
that played that.

Speaker 4 (41:56):
I know if the athletes's a friend of mine, they
don't play anymore.

Speaker 2 (42:00):
So we got to talk about the fight. Mike Tyson's
here on the Cavino and Rich Show. What do you
have to say to all the critics who say you
held back on punches? There was a lot of viral clips.
What do you have to say to the critics that
brought that up?

Speaker 4 (42:15):
Oh, no, I don't remember the fight that much. That
kind of blanked out a little bit.

Speaker 3 (42:19):
Did you watch it back or anything?

Speaker 5 (42:21):
Or no, I will watch the fight.

Speaker 4 (42:22):
No, I had not.

Speaker 2 (42:23):
Okay, So there was a lot of casual fans. First,
I want to thank you again for bringing people together.
It was like the nineties all over again. We got
together with friends, We had a great night. It was
highly entertaining. But then of course clips go viral, a
lot of casual fans speculating there's a few clips where
like you're holding back a right hand punch, in my
opinion as a fan, to not be exposed so that

(42:44):
you don't get hit.

Speaker 3 (42:45):
Is that what was happening in that clip? Or you
don't even know?

Speaker 4 (42:50):
I was just listen, know what I remember? No, Well,
coming back from the first round, and then the next day,
I remember Jacob doing some kind of I don't know
what was he doing attering.

Speaker 5 (43:02):
Laugh Now, I remember, dude.

Speaker 2 (43:03):
There was a lot of people online that said that's
when you should have hit him, when he was bound
down like that, that's.

Speaker 4 (43:08):
Why get Mari.

Speaker 5 (43:09):
I was like, what the hell was he doing?

Speaker 3 (43:12):
So it went that quick for you? Yeah, Mike, I
was tie you.

Speaker 4 (43:16):
I was a sweaty I went to the hotel. No,
I went to the house that we stayed in. I
left the house, name my wife, my kid. Then we
went to the after party, then we came back.

Speaker 2 (43:27):
So for us, right, it was two minute rounds and
it felt really quick for us.

Speaker 3 (43:32):
We're like, dang, we wanted more.

Speaker 2 (43:34):
Is there anything about the fight you would have changed
based on the experience.

Speaker 4 (43:38):
Oh no, listen, I wouldn't have realized any of it.
The one three minute round.

Speaker 2 (43:43):
I didn't realize that question. You come down to the
ring solo. I can only imagine there were people that
wanted to come down to the ring with you. Who
wanted to come down to the ring, And why did
you choose to have no one with you?

Speaker 4 (43:57):
Hey, listen, someone you said, Mike, is your time to
come out? And I just came out.

Speaker 5 (44:01):
Nobody I was.

Speaker 3 (44:05):
I would assume anyone wanted to come.

Speaker 2 (44:06):
I would assume there was there was celebrity, celebrities, you know, colleagues,
you know friends of yours that wanted to be out there,
but you did it.

Speaker 3 (44:14):
We were rooting for you, man, pulling for you so hard.

Speaker 2 (44:18):
And I know you often say we're fans Mike, you
don't care about ego and legacy, But after something like that,
do you think it adds to your legacy? How do
you think you're viewed after this fight?

Speaker 5 (44:30):
Wow? I know thought about that, you know.

Speaker 4 (44:32):
But the day after the fight, right after the day
after I told my wife, why did I do that?

Speaker 5 (44:38):
I don't know what the hell go go?

Speaker 2 (44:41):
And what was her response, like what was your family's
response to everything?

Speaker 5 (44:46):
They were just supporting me.

Speaker 3 (44:48):
I can only imagine.

Speaker 2 (44:49):
I So we saw your great relationship with your daughter,
like have you don't said on the Netflix.

Speaker 3 (44:53):
Special And by the way, Mike, you're brushing your teeth.

Speaker 5 (44:56):
More now or what working on it?

Speaker 2 (44:58):
Okay, okay? I saw the great relationship you had as
a dad and daughter. It was it cool for your
family to see that the public rallied around you so
much all these years later. I feel like everyone I
knew was just like, come on, let's go, Mike. Everybody
you had the world behind you. Is that a cool
feeling to know you still had it in your family
to see that.

Speaker 5 (45:17):
I'm still happy. I am happy with my family for that.

Speaker 4 (45:20):
But we don't normally go around and talk about me fighting,
and so I say I'm a fight and then they say,
you know, Dad's gonna fight.

Speaker 2 (45:28):
Right, So that was like a different side of them
of you for your.

Speaker 4 (45:33):
Like a party for the like going up, but normally like, yeah, Dad,
it's gonna fight.

Speaker 2 (45:37):
It was a party for everybody. Man Rich and I
were were buddies in Miami rooting you on. Now, there's
been a lot of rumors since the fight. Are there
any rumors you'd like to clear up or is there
any truth to any of the rumors? Is there anything
you want to share with the Fox Sports Radio Nation
about what's next?

Speaker 4 (45:53):
Real fight?

Speaker 3 (45:54):
Yeah, it was a real fight. What did you think
of Jake's power?

Speaker 5 (45:57):
Man?

Speaker 3 (45:58):
When you were in there?

Speaker 5 (45:59):
I remember it, You don't.

Speaker 3 (46:01):
You didn't even remember it?

Speaker 4 (46:02):
I heard, But my body was really sore.

Speaker 3 (46:05):
It was sore the next day.

Speaker 4 (46:07):
Yeah, my body, my chest, my making stuff was really sore.

Speaker 3 (46:10):
Well, dude, you were you were in great shape. You
still look great, Mike.

Speaker 2 (46:13):
Mike Tyson on the Coveno and Rich Show, speaking of rumors,
there was a rumor today that one of your buddies
that you fought not too long ago, Roy Jones Junior
said that he wants to maybe test it out with
Jake Paul and test Jake Paul's chin. He's fifty five
years old. You think that Roy Jones Junior can handle
something like that?

Speaker 3 (46:31):
You were just there.

Speaker 5 (46:33):
He's bast enough though.

Speaker 4 (46:34):
Yeah, if Roy's training, Roy could still do a lot
of stuff.

Speaker 5 (46:38):
He got to be training though. They have to be.

Speaker 2 (46:41):
Training now, Mike had he does. I know he's a
big dude, man. Well, you know, years ago you talked
about the fighting guts, right, you didn't have the fighting
guts years ago to continue going on. So what inspired
you at fifth d eight to do it finally?

Speaker 5 (47:04):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (47:05):
Just yeah, the fight, Jake, you know, we were talking, we
were talking about it for a years.

Speaker 2 (47:10):
Let's do it just for the fun of it, for
the excitement of it, and to be part of history.
I mean, and I'm sure Mike, the payday sort of
helped out a little bit, too, right, I mean, it's
it was no, oh no, this.

Speaker 4 (47:22):
Is that that payday and not going to change my
lifestyle at all.

Speaker 2 (47:27):
Well, I see is that your house right there? You're
living in a beautiful place. It looks like you're living
large right now watching them.

Speaker 4 (47:36):
Very fortunate. Yeah, thank god, a lot of white.

Speaker 2 (47:38):
Bow, Mike, of all of all the pop culture moments
you brought us, you know, for for guys that earn
our age range, the fight you delivered, Mike Tyson's punch out,
the Hangover? What are you most shocked by the people remember?
Is it the cameo on the Hangover? Is it the
video game?

Speaker 6 (47:55):
Like?

Speaker 3 (47:55):
What do you shock? That was as popular as it
was with your legacy.

Speaker 4 (48:00):
Well, I think it's gonna be the ath now, but
the Tyson butch, Yo, Mike, you should come out with
an edible Tyson's butt cheeks right so that people can
eat it. I like that, like that Tyson's cheeks, sweet cheese.

Speaker 3 (48:18):
Tyson's sweet cheeks. I can see it now. You know what,
Rich will be the first to eat them. Rich probably
wants to eat them right now. Rich loves him. You
gotta give me like a little small percentage, Mike. It's
my idea.

Speaker 2 (48:31):
And you know what, Rich we talked to Mike years ago.
He said, here, Mike, you said you never played the
video game. You never played Tyson's punch Out. Ever, that's
what you told us years ago commercials.

Speaker 5 (48:41):
I wasn't in the games back then my time.

Speaker 3 (48:44):
Well, I don't know if you're into games now.

Speaker 2 (48:46):
But my next question was what does Mike Tyson do
to keep himself happy? Obviously, you have a beautiful family.
What brings you the most happiness?

Speaker 3 (48:55):
Now? You had a lot of fun at that fight.
It was fun for what we.

Speaker 4 (48:58):
Were talking about, fight with such a bigger sin that
we were so up and high, we were to fight
a boom. Wow, I'm kind of depressed a little bit.
You know, you got to get back in a living situation,
back to living what we know because we fight, we're
training for it.

Speaker 2 (49:15):
Nine months Mike, I saw on the docu series on
Netflix that you were saying, no matter where you go,
wherever you go, people want to say hi to Mike Tyson.
And you said your wife said that if that wasn't
the case, you'd hate it. Do you do you go
anywhere where someone doesn't recognize you?

Speaker 4 (49:35):
No? No, yeah, I think my wife said, I probably
lose my mind the way they didn't know me.

Speaker 3 (49:41):
Yeah, it's got to be fun to be by Tyson. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (49:45):
What is it like, Mike? Do you go grocery shopping
on your own? I mean, you're probably the most recognizable
guy on the plant.

Speaker 5 (49:51):
I do every dawn my own.

Speaker 4 (49:52):
I would run into a store real quick and buy
something come out.

Speaker 2 (49:56):
Are you immune to people's reaction because everywhere you go,
Like I remember this is years ago. I was on
West fifty seventh Street in New York City and I
saw Muhammad Ali walking down the street. But what I
noticed first was everybody standing still just watching him, like,
oh my goodness, this is Muhammad Ali walking down the street.
Do you notice people staring at you? And because that's

(50:17):
a thrill for anybody wherever you are.

Speaker 4 (50:20):
Hey, listen, Yeah, I had to go to the police
station to lift my probation offices. Know I would leave
in town. All the police were looking at me like wow.

Speaker 3 (50:29):
See it's start to feel great.

Speaker 4 (50:31):
Man.

Speaker 2 (50:31):
That's the legacy that we're talking about. That's important to
us because we're such fans Mike, because of Tyson two
point zero. I feel like people that smoke weed or
enjoy that culture. As Mike lights up right now, Yeah,
people say, oh, I want to smoke with Snoop Dogg
or Willie Nelson. Is Mike Tyson now on that list
of celebrities people want to smoke with.

Speaker 3 (50:51):
Do people come up to you.

Speaker 4 (50:53):
I'm not too exciting when I'm smoking, you know. Snooping
pretty exciting and animated when he's smoking.

Speaker 2 (51:01):
You just chill, you more like a sink into the
couch and and get all deep. I who's the coolest
guy you smoked with?

Speaker 3 (51:10):
Your favorite guy you smoked with? Or woman?

Speaker 5 (51:13):
And nobody cooler the Snoop.

Speaker 2 (51:16):
Yeah, that's gotta be an experience.

Speaker 3 (51:19):
Hey, what would have happened?

Speaker 2 (51:20):
We were at your ranch one time, right, and you
were smoking out at your ranch. We were just so
happy to be there, just taking it all in. But
there was a part of us that sort of wanted
to join in a little circle just to say we
smoked with you. Would that have been overstepping if we
jumped in smoke hotly blew the opportunity because we want to. Yeah,

(51:44):
we kind of wanted to. Hey, Mike, we saw you
another time in Vegas. You were doing your podcast. Tell
us about like that journey that venture. Do you like broadcasting?
Do you like doing podcasting?

Speaker 4 (51:58):
This is something that's funny. My wife got me into
this stuff. Yeah, I'm not that crazy, but I don't
it love it crazy. I'm very good at it.

Speaker 2 (52:07):
Yes, I was just gonna say that. And you're you're
one man's show, Like, are we going to see more
of that? Because you said it? You have the post
fight blues right now, right, So what is that next
thing you're going to dive into, man, otherwise you're gonna
get bored.

Speaker 4 (52:21):
Well, we're working on that right now. We do it
all my new shows coming out a netflick.

Speaker 2 (52:28):
Yeah, because you are. You're great at it, man. So
even if you don't like it for your fans, I
think you gotta do it now. I feel like, Mike,
what about because I feel like when I see the
podcast you love to have deep conversations. Have you ever
thought about just sitting down with other fighters and celebrities
and having like deep conversations. Is that sort of what
what a TV show might be?

Speaker 4 (52:48):
Not necessarily the deep conversation, but it's explaining to somebody
that what's your existence?

Speaker 5 (52:54):
Who you are?

Speaker 2 (52:56):
Hey, Mike, you ever sit down with Neil deGrasse Tyson?
I feel like the the other Tyson. I mean, that
guy's pretty deep.

Speaker 5 (53:02):
You know that something else didn't they?

Speaker 2 (53:05):
Yeah, Tyson and Tyson. That's a good show, Tyson and Tyson. Hey, Mike,
I know one of your heroes growing up was Roberto Durant, Right, Yeah, Now,
from today's perspective, these one thirty five guys, do you
think any of those dudes have the same fighting guts
like of the Devin Haines, Tank Davis's, Ryan Garcia's, Tia

(53:26):
Fimo's of that.

Speaker 4 (53:28):
We can't overlook those guys. Those guy have a tough
guy they're just different erarors.

Speaker 2 (53:33):
Yeah, do you have a favorite of all those young guys.
You keep your ear to that a little bit or
just heavyweights.

Speaker 4 (53:40):
No, they're all the station of too. I think Ryan
and Devon should fight again.

Speaker 3 (53:46):
Yeah, I agree with that.

Speaker 5 (53:48):
That was a good fighting man. That was a good one.

Speaker 2 (53:50):
Do you still make a night of it? Let's say
it is a big fight coming up, right, what's it
like for you? How do you enjoy the fight? Because
you gave us all these opportunities, all these memories you
sold us unboxing in the nineties. For me, it was
Julio S. Sarchavez, Mike Tyson. You know, you'd get a
pay per view, you'd have friends and family over. What's
that like? If there's a good fight and you're interested,

(54:11):
how do you party? Do you invite people over your house?

Speaker 4 (54:13):
Do you I try to go to the fight if possible,
but we're not going to the fight. People just come
over the house. As I go over the house.

Speaker 2 (54:21):
Mike, I've seen you at fights where when they put
you on the big screen, you get the biggest applause
of all.

Speaker 3 (54:28):
Does that make you feel good? Because it's got to right?

Speaker 2 (54:30):
They go around the crowd when they go to Mike Tyson,
the crowd goes nuts. Is that is that the respect
you feel, uh you've earned over the years.

Speaker 5 (54:37):
Hey, I'm just very grateful, that's all.

Speaker 4 (54:41):
I'm very I'm becoming familiar with the acting gratitude.

Speaker 2 (54:46):
You know, we were talking about other fights. You got
fury Usik coming up at the end of the month,
the rematch fury Usik too. Any thoughts on that because
I know you have connection with Tyson.

Speaker 4 (55:00):
Fury won that fight. He wasn't playing around early in
the fight.

Speaker 5 (55:05):
I agree that it wasn't that fight.

Speaker 3 (55:07):
So do you think he's got the second one?

Speaker 5 (55:10):
I want him to have. I want him to be
serious enough.

Speaker 2 (55:13):
You know, I know you like him, But how did
you get in Ganu's corner against him? I always thought
that was interesting too, because Fury looks up to you
so much. Did you feel bad going against him?

Speaker 4 (55:23):
I don't even know how that happened, but it happened.
I don't know how the hell that happened.

Speaker 2 (55:30):
Well, Mike uh Tyson two point zero Mike Tyson dot com.
People could support all the stuff you're doing, any of
any other stuff, any other stuff going on right now?
You got the Netflix thing in the works.

Speaker 4 (55:42):
Yeah, I'm doing the Netflix One Man's Show and I'm
gonna do a movie again. Yes, you know, God willing,
you know, the sky's the limits.

Speaker 3 (55:50):
Nice man.

Speaker 2 (55:51):
Well it's the next time we're in Vegas. Hopefully we
bump into you and we could take you up on that.
Uh maybe have some mic bites together, some edibles, no
sweet cheeks, Mike sweet bikes cheeks, Mike sweet cheeks and
then the tagline is everybody's eating them.

Speaker 4 (56:05):
Oh God, I'm trying to get in on that.

Speaker 1 (56:12):
Mike.

Speaker 3 (56:12):
We'll see you in Vegas.

Speaker 4 (56:13):
I'll hang man, let's hay some money.

Speaker 2 (56:17):
Thank you, Hey, Mike, I want to thank you for everything.
Congrats on your career, on being a better person, thank you,
thank you for your time. Just thank you and thanks
with all the joy.

Speaker 3 (56:26):
You brought us.

Speaker 5 (56:26):
Mike. Thank you, guys.

Speaker 2 (56:29):
Have a great one. Mike Syson, Mike Tyson. There he
is Iron Mike.

Speaker 3 (56:34):
That was a lot of fun.

Speaker 2 (56:34):
So I'm glad we got to uh share that with
you guys here on the Dan Patrick Show.

Speaker 3 (56:38):
Can you know rich filling in Christmas Eve?

Speaker 2 (56:40):
You think you'll get some Mike's sweet cheeks and your
stocking this year?

Speaker 4 (56:44):
Or no?

Speaker 2 (56:44):
You know what I as I said in the interview,
he is on that list now with Snoop Dogg and
Willie Nelson. You know, people that are into that culture
would want to smoke with Mike
