Speaker 6 (00:23):
This is my defense of Jerry Jones for a moment.
I think that we have found overwhelmingly that somebody this
might be a newslash, but billionaires can be a little
eccentric sometimes.

Speaker 5 (00:38):
The thing with Jerry and I get it.

Speaker 6 (00:40):
He does his radio show in his front facing and
all that, But like if you had to pick Monci,
because there's only thirty two of these head coaching jobs, right,
if you had to pick between an owner who's doing
a radio show twice a week and who would come

(01:01):
in the.

Speaker 5 (01:01):
Locker room.

Speaker 6 (01:03):
Tell your backup quarterback that he sucks, right, and then
also tell the front office you can't trade for a
guy because he's got a seventy three and Madden right,
and all the other things that we have seen from
the several jetspose's that have come out. Per Diana Rassini

(01:25):
and the Great people over the athletic who seem to
be more plugged in than the light over there in
at flooring park.

Speaker 5 (01:32):
Would you rather that? Because the options are there's no
there are.

Speaker 6 (01:37):
What the Jed York robber Craft, who else? I'm trying
to think Clark Hunt, Piscatti with the Ravens, the Rooney
with the Steelers.

Speaker 5 (01:52):
That's like the list.

Speaker 6 (01:53):
Of good bosses in the NFL. So it's what level
of bad do you like?

Speaker 4 (01:57):
Like, what's what can you You're not wrong about that,
but I think with the Cowboys that is there's just
so much on your shoulders because it's a brand. It's
not just an NFL team, it's a brand. So if
you decide to go there, you just have to like
be willing to take a lot of heat in so
many different ways and at the same time really get

(02:21):
very minimal praise just because of the owner, Jerry Jones.
We know there's no You're not going in there hoping
you're gonna change anything. You're going in there and accepting
this is the way it's gonna go. And if you're
okay with that, hey, more power to you, because I
agree with you. I think coaching the Cowboys, even if
you're not successful, it might lead you to other potential

(02:42):
avenues after the fact, right, because you.

Speaker 6 (02:45):
Would you be surprised if you saw Mike McCarthy sitting
on Colin Cowherd's couch in six months, not one bit?
Would you be surprised if you see him what is
the whatever day or ESPN talking to Pat McAfee like
on zoom from FaceTime while he's riding his bike apparently
because that's how to.

Speaker 5 (03:01):
Do other interviews over there.

Speaker 6 (03:02):
I wouldn't be shocked, Yeah, I wouldn't be shocked. More
shocking part Mike McCarthy be riding the bike.

Speaker 5 (03:07):
No, that's that's rude. No, but you know what I
do think though, just kidding.

Speaker 6 (03:13):
If Mike McCarthy wont I would be interested to know
if Mike McCarthy wants back in Dallas.

Speaker 5 (03:20):
Everybody talked about Dallas bringing him back. If I'm Mike McCarthy,
that shit.

Speaker 6 (03:24):
Back and look and say, you know what, I had
thirty six regular season wins prior to this year in
three years of you know who else did that? Nobody
m Kansas City, right, and now sure they ran through
us in the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (03:36):
But you know why, because I ain't got no damn linebackers.
Why don't got no linebackers? Because Jerry, you're picking them?

Speaker 6 (03:42):
You know, I could see. I would think if I'm
Mike McCarthy, I think he would. I think Mike McCarthy
would have a robust market out there. I don't think
there's I don't think there's a lot of slam dunk
first year hires like you had Sean Payton last two
years ago, which I think you could you feel with
certainty you bring him into your organization, he'll turn things around,
and sure enough they're a game away from the playoffs.

(04:04):
And they almost made the playoffs last year with the
biggest dead cap hit in the NFL history. Right, Jim
Harbaugh turned the franchise that was more abund into one
of the more competitive ones. And mind you, neither one
of these guys won the division because the best team
in the AFC resides the top of it.

Speaker 5 (04:19):
Right. Yeah, So you a lot can change in.

Speaker 6 (04:21):
The year with the right guy at the helm right
and the right program in place.

Speaker 5 (04:28):
So I might McCarthy they I worked with Aaron before
I go to New York.

Speaker 4 (04:35):
You're not You are definitely not wrong in wondering if
McCarthy still wants to be there, because I've thought that myself.
But the question is always will Jerry Jones extend him?
That's always a question. It's never how does he feel
about it?

Speaker 5 (04:47):
Mike McCarthy got to sign the extension right exactly? May
not feel that way.

Speaker 7 (04:50):
You know.

Speaker 6 (04:50):
It's almost like, you know, it's like when you when
you date with somebody, these dates somebody didn't.

Speaker 5 (04:55):
For ten years, It's like, well, I don't even want
to get married no more. You ainitted all this time.

Speaker 6 (05:00):
I don't have been begging you forwarding for the last
five years.

Speaker 5 (05:04):
Every time he took me out. I thought you was
gonna get down on one knee and propose to me
at the.

Speaker 6 (05:08):
TGI Fridays and instead of sitting here eating mozzarella stick
to potatoes skins.

Speaker 4 (05:13):
Question before we move on to a different team that
I do have a team I want to bring up.
Do you think if he doesn't accept an extension with
the Cowboys that it would actually be a knock on him?

Speaker 6 (05:26):
No, I think it would be a big time knock
on the Dallas Cowboys.

Speaker 5 (05:29):
Okay, yeah I wanted you, you didn't want me back? Yeah? Goodness?

Speaker 8 (05:34):
Yes, all right?

Speaker 4 (05:35):
So a team that I think could maybe need a
new coach, maybe Danny g the Raiders maybe looking for
a new coach maybe right, And I think the Raiders
are an attractive team location. You're in Vegas. Who doesn't
want to work in Vegas and you have some Hey,
I'm just saying, who doesn't want to work in Vegas?

(05:57):
There's worse places to go? I think the Raiders and
they have like some weapons. They would probably get a
high pick, right, Like, I don't know how the pick
looks for that.

Speaker 5 (06:07):
They are eighth right now.

Speaker 8 (06:08):
Eighth right now? Yeah, dang, do you want to move
on from your coach?

Speaker 9 (06:14):
I mean there's a lot of arguing among the fan
base over.

Speaker 8 (06:17):
This right now the way, yeah, because.

Speaker 9 (06:19):
Some people feel like Antonio Pierce should get another season,
if not another half a season to prove himself with
a legit QB. And also the dozens of injuries this
team came upon before the first game of the season
even started. Their second leading sacker was Malcolm Koontz and
he was out hurt before the first game of the

(06:40):
season and it just dominoed from there. So many injuries
and Antonio Pierce not as bad as the lines, but
close because all these guys coming in as a diehard fan,
you don't even know who half the guys on defense
are and even some of the receivers that have been
thrown to I'm like, when did the Raiders pick that
dude up? And I mean these guys didn't even go

(07:01):
to the practice squad, said Sarah McCormick. I mean they
went right to the starting roster. So there's the argument
there should Ap get another choice. He made a big
mistake by well, the Raiders' front office made the mistake,
and he was part of it with not getting Cliff
Kingsbury as their OC.

Speaker 5 (07:20):
He went with Luke Getsy.

Speaker 9 (07:21):
After that, Getsy had a chip on his shoulder from
what happened in Chicago. Bad news. It was bad all
the way around. Obviously, Gardner Minshew didn't work out. So
that's the question, and maybe you guys can take a
swing at it. Do you give Ap another crack at it?
But he would need a really strong OC.

Speaker 8 (07:39):
If you give him another crack at it.

Speaker 4 (07:40):
I think he has more expectation than a brand new
coach coming into a division that is competitive. So I
feel like, if you're a new head coach for the Raiders.
You have a minute to kind of get things going
because of how competitive the AFC West is already this year, Uh,
what would you do?

Speaker 6 (07:57):
Or I think Tony Appears was set up to fail.
Right now, I'll say this in defense of Vegas. He's
done nothing thus far to say, you know, to overcome it, right,
Like you know what I'm saying, Like you can still
be You could be dealt a bad hand and still
win the pot, right, depending on how things go and

(08:18):
how everything is. Like like I mean Tean Payton and
Denver two years when his first year there, you saw
improvement on that team over the Dane.

Speaker 8 (08:26):
Sean Payton had but a resume.

Speaker 6 (08:29):
I understand, But my point is this, you just got
Tom Brady and your ownership group. He's gonna make the
next head coaching higher. Antonio Pears has been a dead
man Walkers since the start of the season. It was
gonna take him to win the division type of thing
for him to stick around. And I don't even know it.
He could be an average coach. I don't know if

(08:49):
he's bad. I don't know.

Speaker 5 (08:51):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 6 (08:51):
The roster is not good enough for me to determine
whether or not he is a terrible coach or not.
Like I think he's has a ton to work on,
but I can't drill it down all the way. But
he could have been above average, and Brady was going
to make this next higher because that's what you do
when you spend millions of dollars to join a team,
You take control of it.

Speaker 9 (09:10):
Yeah, and of course all arrows are pointing towards Brady's
buddy Vrabel. There's been rumors of this for weeks now.
But do you want to work with your friend? That
doesn't always work out so great? But these guys, the
two of them, I know Brady Quinn on her network
was talking about it, how they have a strong enough
relationship to where they could probably overcome working together. But

(09:33):
Brady's going to make the call on quarterback and he's
going to have a ton of influence on what happens
with a head coach.

Speaker 6 (09:39):
Absolutely, and I think too, I agree with you generally
you can't work with your friends, I would say with
an asterisk saying, but.

Speaker 5 (09:46):
What if you made those friends at work?

Speaker 6 (09:49):
Like it wasn't like Rabel and Tom were like three
buddies in high school. Right, He's like, no, No, No,
they've won championships together and as a result should have
an understanding of.

Speaker 9 (10:00):
But you know, he's very similar philosophy exactly.

Speaker 6 (10:03):
Now, speaking of philosophy, beamer Ball is one of the
most popular ones, and it looks like Frank Beemer is
about to try to tear Brett Bielima from limb to
lim For more on that and everything else going on
in sports, Isaac longcron uh Anger at the Citrus Bowl.

Speaker 2 (10:17):
Yeah, anger at the Citrus Bowl, and drama right now
at the sun Bowl. Moments ago, you had Louisville holding
on to a thirty five to twenty eight lead over Washington,
and Washington had a fourth down end goal at the
Louisville one yard line in the final seconds. Washington at

(10:38):
quarterback Demon Williams threw a touchdown pass to Giles Jackson
on a fade with nine seconds left, so Washington had
a decision to make kick the extra point for the tie,
go for two for the win. They went for two,
but Williams pass was broken up by Antonio Watts in
the end zone, so an on side kick attempt upcoming

(11:00):
for Washington nine seconds left the fourth quarter of the
Sun Ball in El Paso with Louisville holding on to
a thirty five to thirty four, leading.

Speaker 5 (11:10):
To bring people behind the scenes a little bit.

Speaker 6 (11:12):
I know, Coveni and Richard is only a two hour program,
but we've been doing this now for three because we
did the Doug Gottlieb Show as well. I come in
here and Monti sounds like she's had a long night, right.

Speaker 8 (11:25):
Come on, come on, you know I sound great.

Speaker 5 (11:29):
Moncey sometimes will drive the show. I'll sometimes drive the.

Speaker 6 (11:33):
Show in our respective places, in our respective time slots.

Speaker 5 (11:37):
Is the first time this is this little marriage has occurred.

Speaker 8 (11:40):
Yeah, right, that's so.

Speaker 5 (11:41):
We were gonna switch off.

Speaker 6 (11:42):
We were, but then I asked her, you know, what's
your schedule look like the next couple of days.

Speaker 5 (11:48):
I'm off and my voice works just fun.

Speaker 6 (11:51):
But uh, miss Bolano so over here's got to work
tomor on the next day the day after.

Speaker 5 (11:55):
She doesn't take a day off.

Speaker 8 (11:56):
I don't have a day off future.

Speaker 5 (11:59):
Wow, yeah, I can do.

Speaker 8 (12:02):
You're right.

Speaker 5 (12:02):
I'm not a TV weather man, but I know the reads.

Speaker 9 (12:05):
Right, You're saying, Moncey sounds like Demi Mour smoking a
cigar spot.

Speaker 8 (12:11):
Thank you.

Speaker 5 (12:12):
There's some Demi Moore there is it demi?

Speaker 8 (12:14):
Or is a Demi?

Speaker 4 (12:17):
Is it me Demi? Moore Demi? I think it's either
or whatever that day. Yeah, no, yes, I appreciate you man.

Speaker 5 (12:25):
You're right until now, you appreciated me until right.

Speaker 4 (12:28):
You were also talking to Sam, so I wasn't sure
I was okay.

Speaker 8 (12:32):
It's I was an.

Speaker 5 (12:33):
Inch away from the on buttons, you guys.

Speaker 4 (12:35):
Is called It is called just anticipating my co host needs.

Speaker 5 (12:40):
Do you know what I was?

Speaker 6 (12:41):
I guess and lies A couple of seconds late, A
couple seconds late.

Speaker 5 (13:00):
You go, yeah, and we'll do my homes. What is it?
What's what's the damn name? Show Time Mahomes Trivia. We'll
do Showtime Mahomes Trivia.

Speaker 6 (13:06):
Where you can win this this cool little bottle here
that Danny g gave me. That says Covino and rich On,
It says Fox Sports Radio. Looks this looks like it
keeps your liquid whatever temperature you wanted to for at
least half an hour. I'll dare you. I'm just kidding.
But no, my apologies to America for being just the
second late coming back from break, because it's now time

(13:29):
to talk about people being late.

Speaker 5 (13:31):
And as a professional, he's supposed to be on time.

Speaker 6 (13:33):
Now I thought I was just one second late, but
I I have to hold myself to the standards I
hold others. Unfortunately, Shane Steichen is not the boss here.
If Shane Stikeen was the boss here, maybe he would
be a little more understanding.

Speaker 5 (13:47):
Sam. Let's hear what Shane Stikeen has to say about
being on time.

Speaker 7 (13:50):
Yeah, I think with any team, right, not everyone's going
to be on time every time, but there is accountability
and guys are held to a standard, and that is
that is talked about in house. And I don't think that,
And I think, you know, with anything, I think Pat
you know, he you know, he's a former alumni that
wants to see the Colts do well, just like all
our fans want. You want us to do well. And

(14:12):
when the standard isn't, you know, not getting in the playoffs,
you know, it's frustrating. So it's frustrating for a lot
of people, myself included. And that's where we talk about
the standard just being raised, so we're not, you know,
in these situations.

Speaker 6 (14:23):
So Monsie, I appreciate you holding me accountable. Now let's
talk about Shane Stikeen in the Indianapolis Colts Pat mcaveee
calling his team out, and that was Stikeen's response to,
you know, the allegations of tardiness. Not everyone can be
on time all the time.

Speaker 4 (14:39):
That's ridiculous, that is and this is coming from somebody
who is late to everything.

Speaker 8 (14:45):
As a Latina, I am late to everything.

Speaker 4 (14:46):
If you want me at your party at six, tell
me it starts at five, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 8 (14:52):
But when it comes to.

Speaker 5 (14:53):
Year's Eve, actually eleven pm.

Speaker 4 (14:55):
You should tell me that, yes, because I'm probably gonna
be late. But I'm not late to work, I'm not
late to practice. I'm not late to my volleyball games.
But this idea of a coach saying that is a
bit alarming to make it seem like it's not a.

Speaker 8 (15:15):
Big deal and that some people just some people just
don't show up on time. What are you talking about
that shouldn't even be a question.

Speaker 4 (15:23):
In fact, you should be coming to work probably fifteen
minutes before you start work, so that you're really not late.

Speaker 5 (15:31):
And I do wonder what the level of late is.

Speaker 6 (15:33):
Are we talking about guys late to the facility for
like the start of the day, or did you come
back late from lunch you know, to question your noon
meeting or you know, we're you two minutes late like
But obviously it seems to be at least so much
of a deal that it got to pack McAfee. Pat
McAfee was able to then put this out into the
ether in which reporters were asking Shane slacking about it.

(15:56):
Now you could ask about the order of operations for
that news to get out, But it's it's a new media.

Speaker 5 (16:00):
Landscape that we're in.

Speaker 6 (16:01):
But with this, and by the way, this everybody, that's
what Shane Stichen sounds like. I know that's probably the
first time you ever heard his voice or maybe even
his name.

Speaker 5 (16:11):
But what I find fascinating about this is by itself.

Speaker 6 (16:19):
In a vacuum, this doesn't really ring any bells to me,
But when you consider everything else that's happened throughout the
year in Indianapolis, it now becomes another log on the
fire which started burning that greatly when the Giants hung
what thirty five some.

Speaker 4 (16:34):
Points on them when they were in playoff contention, still
in playoff contention. Yeah, I mean, you're right if this
was just a one off thing, but Pat, it was
forty five Thank you, Sam what Pat McAfee, the way
he wrote everything out was in detail of the many

(16:57):
issues that surround the Colts this year. He literally listed
it all out, And you're right, the fact that he
caught wind.

Speaker 8 (17:05):
Of it, it has to be that there is no real.

Speaker 4 (17:11):
Order there, like if everyone, if being late is just
accepted in part of the norm there, I can't even
imagine other things happening. Like Pat McAfee pointed it out,
Anthony Richardson said he was tired and pulled himself.

Speaker 8 (17:26):
Out of a drive.

Speaker 6 (17:27):
And like Slim Charles said, if it's a lie, you fight.

Speaker 5 (17:31):
On that lie. Right. I am not so.

Speaker 6 (17:37):
Thick headed to think that NFL players don't get tired,
of course not.

Speaker 5 (17:42):
I know.

Speaker 6 (17:42):
The offensive lineman don't come off the field, quarterbacks don't
come off the field generally, But I'm sure that they
get tired.

Speaker 5 (17:50):
I'm tired. My problem is, how do we know about
it right right, Well, how did we know about it?

Speaker 6 (17:58):
That's supposed to be like a marriage, real relationship. Were like,
y'all might fight, but when the friends started to find
out what you fight about?

Speaker 5 (18:03):
Okay, now we got issues.

Speaker 8 (18:05):
But it was Anthony Richardson who told us he was tired.

Speaker 6 (18:08):
But nobody at some point from him checking out of
the game. Yes, so coming back in from the post
game to the podium, somebody should have told Anthony ay man,
tell him, tell him that you had to adjust.

Speaker 8 (18:20):
You know, you had cramp, you had a second.

Speaker 5 (18:23):
The microphone went out in your helmet.

Speaker 4 (18:25):
Anything, anything, anything because you needed to use the restroom.

Speaker 6 (18:28):
Because I mean, clearly, you know, the local Indianapolis media
is asking the hard questions if Pat McAfee's the one
breaking the news that is being you know, again it's
a new media landscape.

Speaker 5 (18:38):
But I just say I said this. I don't think
that would have been too many follow ups.

Speaker 6 (18:42):
If Anthony richards had just said, yeah, the green dot,
the microphone went out of my helmet, I couldn't hear saying.

Speaker 4 (18:47):
There were so many things he could have said, so
many options, but he admitted I was tired, and.

Speaker 8 (18:54):
The way he said it just like matter of fact.

Speaker 4 (18:56):
Like it just was a glimpse into me be a
much bigger picture of the leadership in that.

Speaker 6 (19:05):
Shane Stikeen was talking about a little bit about that
bigger picture in the Colts team culture as well yesterday.

Speaker 5 (19:13):
Do you think your team has a culture problem? I don't.

Speaker 7 (19:16):
I think I think you know you're gonna go through
adversity and seasons. You know there's gonna be ups and downs,
whether it's all on the field off the field, and
how you handle them and how you react to them,
and you got to move forward with those things. I
think it happens around the league to teams and you
got to handle it the best way you can handle
it and put your best foot forward.

Speaker 5 (19:35):
Again, that's Shane Steichen.

Speaker 6 (19:37):
That maybe the second time you've ever heard his voice,
head coach Inneapolis the Eagles.

Speaker 8 (19:43):
Thank you so much. Thank you.

Speaker 4 (19:45):
Yeah, no, no, no, Sane Stikeen, You're right, it probably
happens in other cities and another teams, but we don't
know about it like this.

Speaker 8 (19:57):
We don't have the details about it like this, and
that's a problem. That is a problem. Whoever is saying it.

Speaker 4 (20:04):
It's nobody's being held accountable.

Speaker 8 (20:07):
It seems that way on this team.

Speaker 6 (20:10):
Well, it makes you wonder because it seems to be
quite a bit of noise and stuff that's coming about it.
And you know, I had cut a SoundBite earlier about
how Shane's Thyken was basically asked, why do you still
have trust in Gus Bradley the defensive coordinator? They were

(20:31):
last in the league in yards, thirty first in run defense,
twenty ninth in past defense. They were a bad defense
last year. They continue, like, you know, he's like, you know,
getting it turned rounds not happening. He's been He's been
there since twenty twenty two and continually been bad. So
when some of the accountability comes in, because I think
one of the most underrated.

Speaker 5 (20:52):
Aspects of head coaching.

Speaker 6 (20:55):
That we don't as a media factor in that often
is the ability to hire and fire people.

Speaker 5 (21:01):
Oh yeah, Kyle Shanahan.

Speaker 6 (21:04):
Part of the reason why, in my opinion, the forty
nine ers were able to sustain the window of success
that they did prior to this season was because he
kept knocking it out of the park with his hires, right,
and then they Robert Soli would go get a new
head coaching job.

Speaker 5 (21:20):
Well, Tomiko Ryans. Come on, then, Mimmy, go Ryances.

Speaker 6 (21:22):
We'll get a head coach, all right, Come on, you know,
Mike mc daniel gets a head coaching, all right.

Speaker 5 (21:26):
Bobby Slowan, step right up. Bobby Slowan gets an oc job.
All right.

Speaker 6 (21:29):
Well, you know, the train keeps going right because he
has a good ability to identify what he's looking for
and make the decision. Shane Stiken seems to be lacking
in that regard. If nothing and if nothing less, like
from what I have heard of former athletes who are
around when coaches get fired. Right again, if my coach
got fired, he go back to coaching, I mean teaching

(21:49):
the math class he taught third period. Nobody was coaching
me of note, right, But it forces everyone to kind
of snap into it because it's like, oh things, there
are real world ramifications here. If I don't straighten up
and fly right that I mean, just just something as
simple as that might have been able to snap your
organization back into a good a good place.

Speaker 4 (22:11):
Yeah, but it seems like you're okay with mediocre, Like
you're okay with people showing up late, You're okay with.

Speaker 8 (22:18):
Your quarterback saying this out loud.

Speaker 4 (22:21):
To the media, you're okay with being mediocre for more
than just one season, and you point out something really
good that if you had this idea that your coach,
your leader, that everyone is on a short leash, you
wouldn't be acting like this. But everybody feels like everyone
just has a long leash. That's probably what they feel like.

(22:42):
Nobody's scared, nobody's worried about their jobs.

Speaker 8 (22:46):
It seems out way.

Speaker 6 (22:47):
And to be clear, I'm not sure if that's the
best environment to be in either.

Speaker 5 (22:53):
Right right where.

Speaker 6 (22:53):
It's like, you know, you're running around for fear of ramification,
you should like that. That to me can be very
feels Belichickian. It can work, but it feels like, all right,
maybe there's an expiration date on this, like I need
to move off of players or move around, switch guys out.
It's not very hardball or Dan Campbell where it's like,

(23:15):
we're gonna build our culture. This is our culture, this
is our team, this is what we do, this is
who we are. And I think over everything we've had
in the last Because NFL hiring goes in cycles, right, obviously,
half I mean a third anywhere from a fourth to
a third of NFL head coaches are fired in a
year and then they bring them something back and whatever whatever. Right,
we saw was twenty nineteen was mcvay's first Super Bowl appearance,

(23:40):
But no, no, no, the twenty that that was the ring. Yes,
so twenty eighteen was his first Super Bowl appearance. From
that point on, it was we gotta find the next
Sean McVay. We gotta find the next Sean McVay. And
you saw Mike mc daniels in the other world getting hired.
Kevin O'Connell got hired, Matt Lafleur got hired, Hackees office,
the court that I got high severally, Zach Taylor. These

(24:01):
guys who got hired to mix results, right, Kevin O'Connell
are the best coaches of the league.

Speaker 5 (24:05):
Mike for Daniel to me, not right. Yeah, So.

Speaker 6 (24:11):
I think now we're gonna see cashe Ssychen was one
of those guys offense records for the Eagles.

Speaker 5 (24:16):
Prior to this. Then we're gonna see a more return
of like the man's man, head coach, the tough guy.

Speaker 4 (24:23):
Yea, yeah, because like, yes, I Mike McDaniel seems like
he wants to be your friend, right, Like there's a
like he's a cool guy.

Speaker 6 (24:31):
I mean in it, I don't think that Tomlin or
Campbell or Hardball seem like they are not friendly.

Speaker 5 (24:38):
It's more, no, yeah, it's more.

Speaker 6 (24:40):
It's more these guys look like they played a game
which they had ten tackles.

Speaker 8 (24:45):
Yeah, yeah, because I agree.

Speaker 4 (24:46):
I didn't mean it like that, but there is like
a different vibe that you just get off the screen
from when you hear them talking and when you see
them coaching with Mike McDaniel, there is like a vibe
like he wants to be one of the guys. And
not that there's anything wrong with that, especially if you're succeeding,
we wouldn't be complaining about it or we wouldn't be
talking about it. But for him in Miami, it seems

(25:08):
like it's not necessarily working, not that it wouldn't work elsewhere.
But I don't disagree with you that we are maybe
coming back to the tough guy.

Speaker 5 (25:18):
We'll see I'm not the.

Speaker 8 (25:19):
Exterior, because that's the whole thing, right.

Speaker 4 (25:21):
It's like Shane Steichen, It's like if you if everyone
thought I said on a short leash, if everyone thought
that they were on a short leash, but behind closed doors,
you are a softy.

Speaker 8 (25:30):
That's different.

Speaker 4 (25:32):
But the images that you want people to kind of
like you want people to do their best every single time.

Speaker 6 (25:40):
When Andy Reid says we need to get more physical
going into halftime, you believe them. Yes, Jim Harbaugh says,
we need to get more like our team, our defense
need to wrap up a tackle better.

Speaker 5 (25:50):
We're giving up explosives.

Speaker 6 (25:51):
You're like, you know what he sounds like if he could,
he would go out there and do it his damn self.

Speaker 5 (25:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (25:55):
Like dan Vi, we're playing everybody this game. It doesn't
matter why, because there's a game. We're gonna go win it,
Like you believe, Like to me, some of these others,
some of these other guys who were not necessarily you know,
cult of personality, I don't feel it in the same way.

Speaker 5 (26:09):
Maybe that's me.

Speaker 1 (26:09):
Yeah, Iowa was him To draw a contrast. You brought
up Bill Belichick a little while ago to draw a
contrast between Bill Belichick's championship culture in New England versus
possibly what's going on behind the scenes with Shane Sdyke
in Indianapolis. A very own Rich Ornberger, who was a
guard in the NFL for a while, he told this
amazing story on the air on like a Sunday a
year or two ago, how guys were so scared to

(26:32):
be late to practices with Bill Belichick hold on, like
guys would get apparently get cut it for being late,
and even like a guy who plays so Rich Hornberger
played for Belichick for a few years with the Patriots,
and he on some I don't think it was a
game day, it was like just a normal Tuesday practice.

(26:53):
He's he wakes up and he notices the sun is
like hitting him in the eyes, and he's like, oh crap,
I overslept. He gets himself ready, he gets himself in
the car, and he's like going through his mind, what
can I do to not get cut? What can I
do to salvage this? I'm going to be late to practice.
Rich told this on the air, so I know I'm
not violent any behind the scenes rules here. He intentionally

(27:14):
rear ended a van. He just like tapped this van.
He hit it in the bumper, like in the corner,
not to hurt anybody, but he rear ended this van.
He got into an accident on purpose so that he
could have the excuse of, oh, well, coach, I'm not late.

Speaker 5 (27:29):
I'm not late. You know. It wasn't my fault. It
was out of my control. I got in this car
accident and he didn't get cut. But it was like,
that's how desperate guys were to make sure they followed
the rules of Belichick. And I mean, listen, they won
a lot of Super Bowls with that culture. Even if
they didn't guys didn't nowise enjoy the process.

Speaker 8 (27:46):
This did really happen.

Speaker 5 (27:48):
I was here, it was. It was one of those
mind large stories I'd ever heard.

Speaker 6 (27:52):
It was great, Jonahs great Monday night football, four touchdowns,
was late to practice the next day. Never heard from again.
The only reason I know that is because he went
the high school in my area. We're about the same age.
I went to high school with his older brother. Never
heard from again, Jonas Gray. He's out there being a
family man. Now, had four touchdowns on that football. Belichick said,
I'm done with you because you can't set your alarm clock.

Speaker 8 (28:15):
I should have crashed his car. He should have crashed
his car.

Speaker 5 (28:24):
It's now time for show time. Mahomes Trivia. The mostly
lovable Patrick Mahomes truth is, I want everybody to love me,
not just the reps.

Speaker 3 (28:35):
It's time for some NFL trivia. I'm here, I'm.

Speaker 5 (28:39):
Here, Yes, we know you're here.

Speaker 1 (28:42):
Ai, Patrick Mahomes here to play show Time Homes Trivia.

Speaker 9 (28:46):
It's normally where we bring in Brooke Patrick with our
FSR security.

Speaker 5 (28:50):
But Mahomes is at home today with his family.

Speaker 8 (28:53):
Understand.

Speaker 9 (28:54):
He did send me a text message though, to read
on the air. He says, Yo, Danny, say what's up
to Mancy for me? Even her chargers will never sniff
the level of me and my chiefs.

Speaker 8 (29:03):
Okay, relax.

Speaker 9 (29:05):
As far as CNR, as far as CNR being off today,
think about this. I just won three games in eleven
days and I'm still watching tape at home today.

Speaker 5 (29:13):
Did the guys really need the day off?

Speaker 9 (29:16):
I'm home with Brittany and the kids, So Danny, don't
sit there like Max Crosby in a cast.

Speaker 5 (29:21):
You can read the trivia questions today. Happy New Year.

Speaker 8 (29:24):
Well, thank you, Patrick Mahomes.

Speaker 9 (29:27):
All right, now meet the contestants. In for twenty four
time winner Rich Davis. It is Moncey Bologos, Yeah, sitting
in for sixteen time champion Dan Byer. It's Martin Weiss
in for six time champion Spotty Boy. It's Isaac loehen
Kron and looking to win a CNR stainless steel swiggy

(29:49):
on our studio lines.

Speaker 5 (29:50):
All right, Lowan Kron, I'll use you for this.

Speaker 9 (29:52):
Would you love to travel to Paola, Kansas, COONa, Idaho, Liberty, Mirssouri, Nashville, Tennessee,
Kansas City, Missouri, or Westport, Connecticut.

Speaker 2 (30:03):
I'm sorry you didn't give me enough choices there anyway, ironically,
because it's a big no no in our business, let's
legally go to Paola.

Speaker 5 (30:13):
You gotta pick Pola A right? That is? Cody? What up, Cody?

Speaker 9 (30:18):
How's he going?

Speaker 5 (30:19):
All right? What do you do for a living there
in Kansas?

Speaker 9 (30:22):
I'm a mechanic?

Speaker 5 (30:23):
Very cool? Right. Here are the rules, by the way,
You're welcome Cody Mkansas.

Speaker 9 (30:28):
All right, and Martin, you're new to this game too,
so listen to these rules. The first contestant with two
correct answers is the champ. If there's a tie, we
have a tiebreaker question. Your name is your buzzer, but
you do have to wait until all three possible answers
are read before you buzz in. If there's two wrong
answers in a row, we move on to the next question.
Are you ready, Let's.

Speaker 5 (30:47):
Get it on. Yes, do it.

Speaker 8 (30:49):
I get nervous. I'm already sweating. I hate these games.

Speaker 9 (30:51):
Round one, Patrick says he's glad that this dude wasn't
around isn't around right now, chasing him on the field.
The leader in all time recorded sack is Bruce Smith
with how many A one hundred and ninety, B two
hundred or C two hundred and five?

Speaker 5 (31:09):
Cody Cody.

Speaker 9 (31:12):
I'm gonna give it an Monty for the steal, C
two O five. No, you're both losers two hundred even
for Bruce Smith. All right, so nobody on the board yet.

Speaker 5 (31:27):
As we moved around two.

Speaker 9 (31:30):
What was Patrick Mahomes once quoted saying about making adjustments. A.
I feel like, even if something goes wrong, I have
confidence in myself and my team that will fix it. B.
I pride myself in being a QB who could be
humble and really listen to the coaches halftime adjustments or C.
Even if I'm playing a really sloppy game, nothing needs

(31:52):
to change at halftime because I gave the refs really
great Christmas gifts Martin, Martin.

Speaker 5 (31:59):
Cody and got in there.

Speaker 9 (32:00):
I'll go with a yeah, Martin the first to get
on the board.

Speaker 8 (32:05):
Both Okay, Martin, Yeah.

Speaker 5 (32:07):
Cody, just a little lad on the buzzer there. As
we go to round Yeah.

Speaker 9 (32:13):
As we go to round three, which NFL QB is
third in passing behind Joe Burrow's passing yards behind Joe
Burrow and Jared Goff. Is it a Sam Darnold, b
Lamar Jackson or C. Baker Mayfield?

Speaker 3 (32:28):
Isaac Baker Mayfield.

Speaker 9 (32:31):
Yes, Mayfield has four and seventy nine yards. Low and
Kron and Martin on the board so far. As we
go to round four, fight which team did the great
Peyton Manning break the single season passing touchdown record against
A The Texans, B the Raiders or C the Chiefs.

Speaker 5 (32:56):
Tody Cody A moment, No, I go with THEE Martin
for the steal. No, you both leave.

Speaker 9 (33:06):
No, it was the Texans record setting fifty first was
versus Houston December twenty second, twenty thirteen. All right, so
still on the board, Martin, Lowen Kron. As we go
to round five, who was the first head coach to
win three NFL Coach of the Year awards? A Tom Landry, B.

(33:26):
Bill Belichick or C. Don Shula.

Speaker 3 (33:29):
Isaac Cody Lowen Crown for the win Don Sula.

Speaker 8 (33:33):
Yesday, I Lo.

Speaker 9 (33:37):
Low and Crown doing a victory lap over there in
the updates studio.

Speaker 3 (33:41):
Better luck in twenty twenty five y'all.

Speaker 9 (33:44):
Cody, thank you for playing there in Paola, Kansas.

Speaker 8 (33:47):
Yes, thanks Cody.

Speaker 5 (33:48):
You guys, hey appreciate you have a new year.

Speaker 6 (33:51):
Cody said, he's a mechanic. I was one of the
America to know I tightened my serpentine both today.

Speaker 5 (33:56):
On my car.

Speaker 8 (33:57):
So no, you didn't by yourself.

Speaker 5 (34:00):
Yeah, I actually it was yesterday, but I did it.

Speaker 6 (34:03):
Was it was like this really loud, like his noise
was like I went in there with the little with
the little branches.

Speaker 8 (34:10):
Did you go to YouTube to see how to do it?

Speaker 5 (34:12):
Oh? Yeah I did it. You know what, I might
as well just build a car from scratch. Now why not?

Speaker 8 (34:21):
Well you shouldn't have shared that because now I'm.

Speaker 2 (34:22):
Going to ask, is I'm getting a text from building
management car on fire in the parking garage?

Speaker 1 (34:28):
That's yours, that's yours spontaneously combusting there.

Speaker 5 (34:33):
Now you say it's serpentine serpentine serpentine?

Speaker 1 (34:36):
Is it?

Speaker 5 (34:36):
I don't know. I know this song by Earth winded fire,
serpent serpentine fire. I don't know. We'll play it next.
I didn't you know, I didn't fix it. Doesn't matter
YouTube video. You fixed it.

Speaker 1 (34:46):
So yeah, Cody, by the way, just a smidge lay
buzzing in on a couple of those, maybe you would
have gone on the board.

Speaker 5 (34:52):
I know.

Speaker 8 (34:52):
Are we still sending him a swigy?

Speaker 3 (34:56):
You have to win, and he's gonna have mine. That's fine.

Speaker 5 (35:00):
Participation Swiggy's out here.

Speaker 3 (35:03):
If that's legal.

Speaker 5 (35:03):
Yeah, sure, I hope you don't believe this. We don't.
We don't do participation awards. Martin. Show Isaac what it
looks like he's missing out on.

Speaker 3 (35:12):
Well, we're still talking about the swiggy.

Speaker 5 (35:14):
Right, Swiggy here, the midnight black Swiggy, one.

Speaker 3 (35:19):
Of those at home. Yeah, you can send him mine.

Speaker 5 (35:21):
You have a blue one.

Speaker 6 (35:23):
Keeps your liquid either cold or hot, it's depending on
whatever you're looking for, I guess, or lukewarm if.

Speaker 8 (35:28):
You want it, or lukewarm. It's a lukewarm drink.

Speaker 7 (35:31):
You know.

Speaker 5 (35:33):
Some room temperature water sometimes could really do the trick.

Speaker 8 (35:37):
Like, no, it's going to be slightly above room temperature.

Speaker 2 (35:40):
Martin Weiss, renaissance man lukewarm water and fixing his own
serpentine belts.

Speaker 6 (35:47):
Listen, they don't make men like me anymore. They also
don't make men like Isaac long Kron anymore. Thankfully, give
us an update on everything that's going on in the
world of sports right now.

Speaker 5 (35:57):
Congratulations, mister update man, you're a winner of good job.

Speaker 9 (36:04):
On Spotty's record, by the way, since you were playing
for oh seven time champion Spotty Boys, thanks to you.

Speaker 2 (36:10):
Speaking of Luke warm that's like when Steve Kerr had
the leave of absence and Luke Walton went like fifty
and two he had, Kerr got the credit.

Speaker 8 (36:18):
For all the wins.

Speaker 2 (36:19):
You know, it's fine with me. Spread the love around,
no love lost. Where we begin, and that is at
the Cheese Its Citrus Bowl. Illinois has just defeated South
Carolina twenty one to seventeen. But the story in this
game a second half head coach tet a TETs. It

(36:39):
happened when Illinois head coach Bret Bielama taunted South Carolina
head coach Shane Beemer regarding Beemer intentionally delaying his player substitutions.
Biemer took exception to the taunt and charged at Bei
Lama on the field, only to be held back by
members of his South Carolina staff. Among the reactions on

(37:02):
social media, Colin posting quote, soft move here by the
getback coaches. Let Beamer and Belama duke it out on
the fifty and then Ryan posting quote, not surprising, Brett
Bielama is so fired up about a Bowl game sponsored
by a snack food product. And finally Klepta posted at

(37:23):
the time quote very excited for the Beamer Beilama postgame handshake.
As it turned out, they actually did shake hands. They
metaphorically kissed and made up with Beelima, even briefly giving
Beamer a hug. All this at a bowl named for
cheese its.

Speaker 6 (37:48):
Covino and Rich will be back on the air to
kick off twenty twenty five tomorrow, So start your new
year off right. I'm gonna end my twenty twenty four
off with a moment of sennity from the NFL.

Speaker 5 (38:01):
Oh wow, a moment of sanity.

Speaker 6 (38:03):
Because sometimes these players who are out there sacrificing their
bodies and putting it on the line, sometimes they just
have a much better perspective than the rest of us
jack holes who talk about it.

Speaker 5 (38:13):
On radio and TV.

Speaker 6 (38:14):
Okay, let's hear what Joe Burrow had to say about
the MVP chance he heard as he was leaving the
field as the Bengals beat the Broncos on Saturday.

Speaker 5 (38:25):
Did did you get the MVP chance from the winner?
Off the field? I did? What were your thoughts I
win one one day?

Speaker 6 (38:33):
Like this is this is your thunder?

Speaker 2 (38:34):
Now?

Speaker 5 (38:35):
I doubt it.

Speaker 3 (38:39):
M usually gotta win your division.

Speaker 6 (38:41):
He went on to say, that's how it's always been voted,
and no, I don't disagree with the voting. This was
an opportunity for him to be like, actually, yeah, I'm
playing the best football I've ever played in my entire
freaking life. And I've won a national championship, Anaheisman Trophy
and I'm playing lights out crown me And he's like,
you know what, No, We're not good enough.

Speaker 5 (39:03):
I don't qualify.

Speaker 8 (39:04):
Yeah, no, he kept it one hundred.

Speaker 5 (39:05):
So America, can we just can we just hear some
sense out of Joey b.

Speaker 4 (39:10):
Here and like both can be Drew, you are playing
the best football, you are the MVP of your team.
All of that can be true. But no, you're not
gonna win the MVP and he was one. Kept it real,
kept it real. Good job, Joey B.

Speaker 5 (39:26):
Now if only American can keep it real and pay attention.

Speaker 6 (39:29):
There is a whole another sixteen teams that are playing
with the opportunity to, you know, represent their conference in
the and the super Bowl. That's the National Football Conference,
the NFC, the American Football Conference.

Speaker 5 (39:42):
Y'all got that taken care of?

Speaker 9 (39:44):
The NFC? Not so much, Danny G. Yeah, this from
a CNR fan page. Does anyone do any of these
things or other things? When the clock strikes midnight for
the movies.

Speaker 8 (39:54):
We're wrapping it up here for twenty twenty four, eat.

Speaker 9 (39:57):
Twelve grapes while sitting under a table within one minute
of the st Oka midnight.

Speaker 4 (40:01):
So I eat twelve grapes, not under a table, but
I eat twelve grapes.

Speaker 5 (40:06):
It's like an earthquake.

Speaker 4 (40:07):
Drill twenty twenty five, and each grape is supposed to
represent a wish for the twelve months.

Speaker 5 (40:12):
Never heard of that one here, I do do that.
That's new to me. Yeah.

Speaker 9 (40:16):
Number two open front and back door of the home.

Speaker 8 (40:20):
What does that do?

Speaker 5 (40:21):
I get spirits and out?

Speaker 8 (40:25):
Oh I should do that today.

Speaker 9 (40:26):
Then Number three, no laundry in New Year's on New
Year's Day, so that it it all has to be
done today, washed and dried and put away prior to
the new year.

Speaker 8 (40:36):
I like the idea of it. I don't know if
I will be successful.

Speaker 5 (40:39):
I know for a fact that will not be such,
but I like the idea of it.

Speaker 9 (40:43):
Number four, have cash in your pocket.

Speaker 8 (40:46):
I hardly carry cash.

Speaker 5 (40:48):
That's not a bad one. Yeah, we're supposed to multiply.

Speaker 8 (40:52):
Okay, I'm gonna put that.

Speaker 5 (40:53):
I'm gonna do that.

Speaker 9 (40:54):
Five, don't forget to put five coins on top of
your door crack before the new year, remove them on
the first and spend slash give away the coins.

Speaker 5 (41:02):
Huh on top of it? So stick five coin on
top of your door crack. Top of the door crack.

Speaker 8 (41:09):
Do five coins fit in that crack?

Speaker 5 (41:11):
I mean, I'm sure if there somebody has a big crack.

Speaker 6 (41:14):
But then take your take your dollar twenty five and
donate it right, Yes, okay, got number second difference, Dollar
under everyone's pillow and wash your hands in a sink
of all change to ensure you have money for what
you need in the new year.

Speaker 9 (41:31):
Kick Yeah, dollar under everybody in your family's pillow. But
then wash my hands, how in a sink that's filled
with change?

Speaker 6 (41:38):
Absolutely not, that seems because here's the thing I'm not
generally at like running around coin stars like that.

Speaker 5 (41:45):
Go to a go to a public fountain, and then
you'll find you'll be able to do that. But who
has that much change?

Speaker 6 (41:49):
Because if I put all that change in this sink,
then I'm going to spend at least ten minutes in
the new year cleaning it all.

Speaker 5 (41:56):
Am I washing coins like it sounds like a lot
of germs.

Speaker 6 (42:00):
It also sounds like I'm crossing streams with the do
your laundry clean.

Speaker 5 (42:04):
All of that? So I'm not sure.

Speaker 9 (42:06):
Number seven sprinkle cinnamon out your front door. It brings
in money, my aunt does?

Speaker 5 (42:12):
I kid you not? Okay? All these traditions are from
nineteen forty six, and.

Speaker 9 (42:16):
Number eight just says black eyed piece.

Speaker 5 (42:18):
Why another black eyed piece? That's kid. It's starting wia.

Speaker 4 (42:23):
Something that my mom does. My mom's the one who
told me about the grapes, which is why I still
do it. Probably like a Latin thing. My mom will
go outside with like luggage, like a luggage and put
some like just whatever, a couple of shirts and whatnot,
and she'll go like around the block with.

Speaker 8 (42:39):
Her luggage because it means you're gonna travel the next year.

Speaker 4 (42:42):
Let me tell you my mom. All she does is travel.
All she does is travel. But she does this every
year at the stroke of midnight.

Speaker 8 (42:47):
She's in Vegas. I don't think she's gonna do it
this year, but she always does that.

Speaker 5 (42:51):
She should just go around the hotel.

Speaker 8 (42:53):
She could why, it'll be easy, but she already has
her luggage.

Speaker 6 (42:56):
It also feels like one of those self fulfilling prophecies,
like I walk around, so I travel. I traveled, and
then I just walked around and you know.

Speaker 5 (43:04):
What you didn't say? What you didn't say? Change your
phone numbers so creditors can't get a hold of you.
In twenty twenty five, number ten my.

Speaker 6 (43:12):
Favorite New Year's tradition of all time, and it's watched
Ryan Day and Ohio State Show as the.

Speaker 5 (43:21):
Clock strikes midnight.

Speaker 6 (43:23):
That field goal missing last year was beautiful and this year,
if they lose.

Speaker 5 (43:26):
