Crisis averted, Crisis averted. We're talking about all of you
with YouTube TV. Oh it could have been catastrophic. It
could have been the worst. But it got me thinking, monci,
if you only had one if you only had one
television network that you could watch one channel, what is
(00:41):
it going to be? That's the question I post to you,
the Covino and Rich listeners on this Valentine's Day Friday.
Speaker 4 (00:48):
That's a hard question. Are we also sure that crisis averted?
Speaker 1 (00:52):
Or is this a for the short term?
Speaker 4 (00:54):
Short term? I don't like that.
Speaker 5 (00:57):

Speaker 1 (01:09):
Isaac lowincroniz here as is iowasam and our executive producer
is Jason Stewart. Jason Stewart a YouTube TV subscriber, so
he is one of those one of those eight million.
I believe the number is of subscribers who thought possibly
they would be without CBS and other paramount channels on
(01:29):
their streaming service if an agreement was not reached. And
this had sports fans going crazy because we are just
a couple of weeks away from March, right, and you
know what that means, March madness. And for me, as
a golf fan, the Masters in April, that would have
been unavailable to YouTube TV subscribers. I am still with
(01:50):
DirecTV old school, not oldest school, but still old school
in that aspect, so I was not affected by this,
but it just got my wheels turning. And if I
was a YouTube TV subscriber and I did not have
those entities and those things, I would probably have to
consider getting into subscription service and going elsewhere because of
(02:16):
what those specific events mean to me and my viewing habits.
And so that's what I want to hear from our listeners.
And we'll take your calls. Eight seven seven nine nine
on Fox. It's eight seven seven nine nine six six,
three sixt nine. If you can only have one network,
one channel, So this isn't like I'm gonna take ESPN,
so I get all of ESPNS. If you take Fox,
(02:39):
you don't get Fox Sports one.
Speaker 4 (02:40):
You get Fox, you get Fox right, just one?
Speaker 1 (02:43):
Yes, that's it. That's it. The one, the one channel,
the one network, the one channel. Which one can you
not live without?
Speaker 4 (02:53):
Desert Island? One network, one channel, that's it. Okay, this
is hard.
Speaker 5 (02:59):
But if I really, if I think about it, and
I think beyond sports, because you know, I like my
trash television Bachelor, I like my silly procedurals, you know,
like the Rookie Year, things like that scandal. So with
with that information, I would take a BC. I still
(03:19):
get NBA games. I would get one football game.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
You'd get some Monday night foot football game once every
four years, and get a super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (03:27):
I'd get a super Bowl once every four years.
Speaker 5 (03:30):
Because if I I, if there's only one, you know,
I have to think outside of sports too.
Speaker 4 (03:35):
I have to incorporate both. So I think it would
be ABC for me.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
Is if if we said, and we're gonna we're gonna
include all TV on this. But if I said to
you manci, let's take out the shows, Let's take out
the normal watching. Would sports? Yes, And I think that
we do need to include your other TV shows in
this because it does sway it. It's why the tea leaves.
Speaker 4 (04:01):
If you of course, of course, But if it.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
Would it still be ABC where the sports, you'd get
the NBA Finals.
Speaker 5 (04:08):
Yeah, I would get the NBA Finals, which is very
important to me, is very important to me.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
I might get the women's tournament. You'd get the women's
I get yeah.
Speaker 4 (04:16):
Four uh huh. I think it might still be ABC.
I think I would still stick with any.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
NANSI sticks with ABC. Jason Stewart, you were a YouTube
TV subscriber when this was hanging out there and there's
a short term agreement. We don't know how long this
short term agreement is, but was there any reconciliation in
your mind to be like, I may need to go
elsewhere because of this dispute between a paramount.
Speaker 6 (04:40):
And YouTube No. In fact, if I had to choose,
I would choose YouTube TV over CBS and then find
whatever tournament games. I guess all a cart that I
would need or use inside connections because we're in the
industry to maybe get some free access. So no, no, no,
I'm not going to lose my YouTube TV. I love it.
I'm at BIGG proponent. In fact, when that story came
(05:02):
out last late last year that YouTube TV was raising
their rates, I actually sent out a very controversial tweet
that was like, look, they tried to fool us early
on by giving us a cheaper version, a better version
than cable in sidot and it worked. They could raise
the prices now because it's a great product and everyone's like, yeah,
(05:24):
billionaires are great, and they tried to give me this
very kind of like guilt trip. I love YouTube TV.
I hope that answers your question.
Speaker 1 (05:32):
Yes it does, And then I have the other question
because that's where my mind is a YouTube TV, non
YouTube TV subscriber, As someone who has DirecTV, that didn't
affect me at all. They just kind of said, all right, cool,
I we'll just watch CBS and all the other properties
and I don't have to worry about it. But as
a DirecTV subscriber, we had a local dispute with one
(05:55):
of our channels in southern California KTLA, which is a
CW network. Some of those channels and other cable network
for a while for I think it was a month.
Speaker 4 (06:04):
Was that about it saying it seems about it, but yeah,
but it wasn't.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
Enough for me to say thanks, but no thanks. There
was the There was the ESPN Disney one in September.
That one, Yes, I remember that that was a part
of it. Maybe maybe I'm combining the both. That was
a big deal.
Speaker 5 (06:18):
That was a big one because there was a like
a game about to start in the playoffs of baseball.
Speaker 4 (06:24):
It wasn't that.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
It was the NFL season. It was there were NFL games.
Because I don't we even because we had direct TV
at our studios at Box Sports Radio, we had to
look for alternative ways to watch Week two because Week
one was provided on ESPN Plus and other channels, but
the ESPN portion of it was not provided to us.
Speaker 4 (06:46):
So I think there was a baseball game though.
Speaker 5 (06:48):
The night it happened, I was here and I was like,
what do you mean, I can't watch this baseball game?
And then they came out and they were like, oh,
we're trying to figure things out with ESPN.
Speaker 4 (06:56):
Were telling me this ten minutes before the game.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
No, I'll tell you what it was us the LSU,
the college football game. That's what it was Las Vegas.
Speaker 5 (07:03):
In Las Vegas, the game another game, and I didn't
think it was NFL.
Speaker 4 (07:06):
Okay, that's what it was.
Speaker 1 (07:07):
Yes. That so then that that just brings up the
conversation as we try to figure this out. What network
could you not live without? Manzis like ABC. What I've
done is and you can find this online, but I've
even printed out a grid. It's a bit blurry because
we had to blow it up, but it tells you
all of the entities and the networks that you would need. So,
(07:27):
Jason Stewart, I pose the question to you taking YouTube
TV out of the equation. If there was only one
network that you could watch and it's only that network
for all of your TV viewing habits, where are you going?
Speaker 6 (07:42):
My goodness? So again clarify the rules are we do
we need our sports? Do I need to watch sports?
If you need to watch sports? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (07:51):
Man?
Speaker 6 (07:52):
I Because why is Netflix on here? Netflix is an option?
Speaker 1 (07:55):
Netflix? They provide a WWE RAW Because I think.
Speaker 6 (08:00):
If I had to choose out of all of these,
I would choose Netflix. I do so much viewing on that,
all those documentaries.
Speaker 4 (08:06):
Yeah, it is a good one.
Speaker 6 (08:07):
I mean, you can watch it forever, right, you could,
but you would get two Christmas Day NFL games and
that's it. No, that's why I'm forfeiting that part. Yeah no,
but I think I think I have to go Netflix.
I'm sorry.
Speaker 1 (08:19):
Oh wow, he is. I sometimes wonder if he just
tries to pose is like today's man, like I am
a man of the twenty first century. I am forward thinking.
He's into today's hip hop, doesn't care about the past.
He is a forward thinker.
Speaker 6 (08:39):
It's probably right. Yeah, that tracks.
Speaker 1 (08:41):
So he is Netflix. I Iowa, Sam, do you want
to give yours? Do you know your network?
Speaker 2 (08:48):
So when I look at this sheet here and has
like all of Fox's properties, if I pick that cluster,
is it only one channel?
Speaker 1 (08:57):
Or do I get all of those? Well? As started again? Okay,
this is I said. You don't get FS one when
you get from Okay, okay, okay. The listener does not
have the print out that I only provided to four
of you. I did not mail these too our millions
of listeners across the country, and even if they did,
(09:19):
they probably still couldn't figure it out because it's blurry.
Speaker 2 (09:22):
But that's okay, Okay, So if I'm going to take
us if it's going to be sports only, so think
about it. Yes, no, I had I had some options.
It's tough. It's either between the Big Ten Network, which
I have on every day in here, and or it's ESPN.
And I think I have to take ESPN because then
I'm getting a fill of other you know, the sec.
Speaker 1 (09:44):
Buck not watching Iowa. I was going to be on
ESPN occasions. No, they're not because they don't have a
deal with the Big Ten, so they are not. You're right,
Yeah they are not. No, you're right, because I'm that
is I am so glad you said that, because I
forgot about that. I've had that in my back pocket
for the last eleven minutes because I've wanted to play
this card because I think sports fans heck hotels, motels,
(10:06):
ESPN and HBO. Good luck. If you're a Big ten fan,
you want ESPN because guess what, you don't have it.
Speaker 2 (10:12):
Right, I've watched I remember this past year, I watched
Iowa games on CBS, NBC, Peacock, Fox.
Speaker 1 (10:19):
But I don't think. Yeah, you're right, NOI is ESPN,
so that's a bad choice.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
Yeah, hit the road, Jack, Yeah, I guess i'd uh, yeah,
I guess I'd take a Big ten and Fox now
have this part. I take Big ten Network because I'm
gonna get overall through the course of the year, I'm
gonna get a couple of like b roll Iowa football games.
I'm gonna get some sort of b side basketball games
(10:44):
so I can see enough of my team.
Speaker 1 (10:45):
I'm not gonna see the great games though. This is
this is, this is Iowa. Sam. Come over to my
place on Sunday. We'll watch the Iowa game in two
hours without commercials in halftime, because that's basically what it is, right,
it's the through. Heck, they just showed you usc UCLA
in sixty minutes on the Big ten network from last night,
(11:06):
two and a half hour game. As long as you do.
If you don't want to watch it live, then you
had ten network. Is you would have to be away
from your phone for twenty four hours, because that's how
you would be surprised in watching the Iowa game as
it replays at a random time on a Sunday.
Speaker 2 (11:21):
It's going to play some live, some games I care
about live a lot of them actually, But then yes,
you can catch those ones.
Speaker 1 (11:27):
You maybe missed. They were on different networks. Isaac Glow
and cron Are you can you pick a network that
you would choose.
Speaker 4 (11:39):
Nicely done?
Speaker 1 (11:40):
Thanks, like what's going on here from nineteen sixty.
Speaker 4 (11:43):
Nicely done though.
Speaker 3 (11:44):
Number one they happen to have the Super Bowl next
year super Bowl sixty from Santa Clara. And number two
it's flex scheduling, so they more often than not are
going to be the beneficiary of scheduling, and you were
more likely to get a better matchup than getting stuck
(12:05):
with a couple of loser teams in one of the
windows on Fox or CBS on a Sunday afternoon.
Speaker 4 (12:10):
I mean, look at this guy, I know, cracking it open.
Speaker 1 (12:13):
He thought it, He.
Speaker 4 (12:13):
Really thought it. I'm over here like, oh, I like
that show. I like that show.
Speaker 1 (12:17):
But you did you thought it through as well. We
all have different things that we are craving. We all
have different things. Yeah, and it's why I'll tell you
what Jason at Netflix, Manti at ABC. Isaac just said,
NBC and Sam for some reasons to the Big ten network.
I mean, I love his I love I love him
(12:39):
sticking Why why is the NBC superior?
Speaker 6 (12:41):
Here?
Speaker 1 (12:42):
I'm not saying it's superior. It is your stuff You're
viewing aspect is so limited. It is that's not only
is it only just sports, it's only sports in the
Big Ten. Well, so so that so that we'll hold on.
Speaker 2 (12:55):
As I told Jason, I really just consume live news
and live sports like that's kind of my thing. Anything
else is sort of random if I'm watching some random show.
So I think the Big Ten network would be the
one reduced that. How you eschewed news, you like, I
don't need news, just if it's news. Just tell me
who the wrestler of the week is for the Big Ten.
That's all that I need to know tonight. Choosing the
Big Ten Network.
Speaker 3 (13:15):
You can actually find out because coming up at the
bottom of the hour, it's Big Ten Live Wrestling pregame
preceding the showdown between Penn State and the eighth ranked
Ohio State wrestling squad.
Speaker 1 (13:26):
That's big match. Bobby wins. They always win. Cale Sanderson's
got quite the team in Happy Valley.
Speaker 3 (13:32):
Yeah, I have.
Speaker 1 (13:33):
I have withheld my answer why because I wanted I
want to trip in Vegas to the answer. Trip please
reveal the correct answer for all of us here on
Fox Sports Radio the one network that you you have
to choose.
Speaker 7 (13:49):
I will, first of all, you guys always do a great,
great job when the guys are out for great job,
thank you. There's only one choice.
Speaker 1 (13:56):
I mean, I'm in Vegas.
Speaker 3 (13:57):
I grew up in South Carolina, went to South Carolina.
Speaker 8 (13:59):
So I have to a CBS for the Masters, the
NBC football, the basketball.
Speaker 7 (14:06):
I can watch some news. There's gonna be football. I
don't even know.
Speaker 3 (14:09):
I mean, that's just it.
Speaker 1 (14:11):
It has to be CBS. It has to be CBS.
Speaker 4 (14:14):
CBS doesn't get NBA games, does it.
Speaker 1 (14:16):
No?
Speaker 4 (14:17):
And that's he made a great point.
Speaker 5 (14:20):
He listed some stuff, made an excellent point where it's
making me second guess my answer.
Speaker 4 (14:26):
But I need NBA.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
There is one show that my wife and I watch
when it airs, and obviously in the streaming service you can't. Like.
We watched Traders, and we know it came out on
Thursday night. We did not watch last night. We'll get
to it tonight. That'll be our Valentines. But Survivor eight
o'clock local time Wednesday nights is what we watch. Nice
and so that's on CBS as well. All right, it
(14:49):
was it was It was tight with Fox and CBS honestly,
and Tripp said, sec on CBS will they have moved
to ESPN, ABC and Disney now, but CBS is the
Big ten. So guess what. I may not see every
Ohio State game, but I'm going to get to see
some of them, and I'm going to get to see
Big ten football each week. The Masters for me was
so huge. Plus they also have the PGA Championship. And
(15:12):
unlike Sam, I do get the news. I also get
the news. Get sixty minutes too. I get sixty minutes.
Speaker 2 (15:19):
I get that Face the Nation or Meet the Press.
I'll get a super Boy every one or four years.
I get Tony Romo every Sunday. And oh Jason loves that. Hey,
I it was.
Speaker 1 (15:31):
It was borderline with Fox and CBS and Survivor is
what put it over the top.
Speaker 4 (15:38):
Survivor is what put it over the top.
Speaker 1 (15:41):
Yeah, and the Masters. You know what else you got?
Speaker 3 (15:43):
Hello?
Speaker 6 (15:44):
Friends? You get ghosts that show ghosts. No, no, no,
that's my point. So every time we were watching football
and you would see like a promo for ghosts or
even a commercial for ghosts, they would show like they
would show the commercial for it, and you think these
are their best scenes, like this is gonna get you
to watch and they're so idiotically stupid, like this is
(16:05):
their best part. No, I won't tune into that.
Speaker 4 (16:07):
But it's still going, so someone's watching everything else.
Speaker 6 (16:09):
I think it's popular, right.
Speaker 5 (16:11):
Every time we see a preview, I'm like, this has
to be popular because it's still going.
Speaker 1 (16:14):
I feel they haven't had a good sitcom since King
of Queens, which is my all time favorite sitcom.
Speaker 5 (16:19):
Yeah, they probably haven't. No, what's a good sitcom nowadays?
There's no good sitcoms. That's a separate conversation.
Speaker 1 (16:24):
Yes, fair point, ABC is there would there be anything
on ABC?
Speaker 6 (16:31):
I guess said a pretty popular that's they have.
Speaker 5 (16:36):
I don't know if they're still making episodes, but the
oh what is the name? And it was funny Colberg's
thank you, it's funny.
Speaker 4 (16:46):
It's a funny one. But no, I ABC. For me,
it's more of the reality TV and the.
Speaker 1 (16:50):
Procedurals and what does that mean?
Speaker 6 (16:52):
Hold on a second. You said that it's the second
time this this is what is a procedural? I don't
even know what that is.
Speaker 5 (16:59):
Every episode a new story, So like Law and Order,
Gray's Anatomy.
Speaker 1 (17:03):
Like cave.
Speaker 6 (17:05):
You call them procedural.
Speaker 5 (17:07):
Yeah, it's a procedural. Like every episode is one story,
and then there's sometimes a big overlying story that like
may extend over the course of the season, but it's
typically like you can just jump in and like watch
an episode. Yeah, you could just jump in watch an
episode and like be able to understand what's happening because it's.
Speaker 6 (17:25):
Never heard of that jargon. That's amazing.
Speaker 4 (17:27):
Oh yeah, procedural.
Speaker 1 (17:28):
It's a story that starts and ends.
Speaker 4 (17:30):
In the same episode, same episode.
Speaker 1 (17:32):
Right, Gosh, we got the phones lit up. Everybody is
in on this. I love how everyone is different.
Speaker 4 (17:39):
Everyone is different.
Speaker 5 (17:41):
I mean, I was surprised that nobody has said the
same answer, big ten, ridiculous.
Speaker 1 (17:46):
Like no, but hear me out.
Speaker 2 (17:48):
Let me just explain more time throughout the course, hold on,
just through real quick, throughout the course of the year.
I am getting what I want, enough of it, and
I don't and I don't need the Masters, sorry Dan, but.
Speaker 1 (18:01):
I need some women's basketball. You don't need.
Speaker 2 (18:04):
I need some football, and then I need uh USC
UCLA women's basketball in sixty minutes morning.
Speaker 4 (18:10):
It's very specific, and that's all you're getting. And this
is like, again, what is what did I say? Not
treasure island? Whatever? Where you're on an island? Buy yourself
in the game. Uh, if you survivor that expression.
Speaker 1 (18:23):
Where you're like, oh, I thought you were talking about
on a deserted island.
Speaker 5 (18:26):
Desert, Yes, a desert island and this is all you have.
That's you're gonna You're gonna drive yourself insane.
Speaker 1 (18:32):
No, I think it'll it'll help me survive. I think
I'll survive off of Big ten Network alone.
Speaker 4 (18:36):
He's gonna be wrestling by himself, wrestling.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
Myself near on Valentine. You're gonna go out Friday nights
small talking about what happened on field hockey earlier that
day on Big ten Network. It helps my job. You
know how far that gets you? I would be again.
The golf thing is huge for me. With CBS, I
get I get a Super Bowl, I get football, I
get good football. I realistically get the AFC if you will,
(19:02):
so you're no shortage of quarterbacks. I get Big ten
football with that college basketball, which I love, love March
in this time of year. I'd be missing out on
on NBA, I'd be missing out on Major League Baseball.
But I feel like it would be enough. Fox was
so close because a big noon kickoff, I'd be getting
those great games. You get a super Bowl, you get NFL.
(19:28):
There's good programming as well. I am a Gordon Ramsey fan,
So Gordon Ramsey Show on Fox. I'm locked in Fox.
If you're a fan. A lot of people are fan
of the Masks singer, I'm not that show still on?
Speaker 4 (19:40):
Another very popular another conversation, how is that show still on?
Speaker 3 (19:45):
The tragic commentary in our society?
Speaker 1 (19:47):
I will say when when they are slubs that I
don't even know, yes, or like there's athletes take at
one point, I don't know if they had like four
Pittsburgh Steelers up there, but I'm like, there's no way
that Robin Thick can go four deep in the history
of the Pittsburgh Steelers. No, it just doesn't happen. It's
got to be fixed.
Speaker 4 (20:05):
It absolutely absolutely.
Speaker 5 (20:08):
I've never really sat through an episode because it looks ridiculous.
Speaker 1 (20:12):
Aussie was tweets in in Australia. It has to be
Fox to get my Aussie rules football, rugby league, cricket,
and most importantly he gets some NFL games.
Speaker 4 (20:23):
Nice.
Speaker 1 (20:23):
The NFL is a big, big, factor in this unless
you're Iowa. Sam, John is in Illinois. John, Welcome to
Commune and Rich and Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 7 (20:34):
Yeah. Question about if I pick the CBS, do I
get a stream the last forty five seasons of Survivor two?
Or you say you don't get a bonus channel?
Speaker 1 (20:46):
Yes?
Speaker 7 (20:46):
But do I get all the previous streaming available for
that channel?
Speaker 1 (20:51):
You know what I'm gonna say, No, We're going to
simplify it and say no, no, yes, yep from now, yes,
that's the only one you can turn on. Has that
change your choice? John?
Speaker 7 (21:02):
No, I think I still think CBS. But it's like
to be able to stream CSI and all of Survivor,
all the past shows.
Speaker 6 (21:12):
I mean that would be.
Speaker 1 (21:14):
Yes. Yeah, A lot of ways to go about this,
right if you're thinking if they were just in that
in that in that line of But the problem is
is I would think to what we're talking about with
Sam is he's watching these games like a day later.
So that's independent, that's special the Big ten network. Where
(21:36):
I feel like these old series would be special to
Paramount Plus or streaming service like Netflix like that. So
I don't think that we can use it.
Speaker 4 (21:44):
Sure, I mean it was a good question.
Speaker 1 (21:45):
I didn't think of as much before the show.
Speaker 2 (21:48):
You know what, one reason I would take Fox over
Big ten network, like Fox, Big Fox Network Fox is
I also really enjoy out here in La the Fox
eleven News at ten with Alex Michaelson. I watch that
almost every night and then I watch the end local NBC,
so it's like I'd be getting sports and news. So
that's that's one thing I wouldn't have in my life.
I wouldn't have that vitamin the vitamin Fox uh eleven
(22:11):
use a ten with Alex Michaelson.
Speaker 1 (22:13):
I just love how he would rather watch Rutgers in
Michigan State live on Saturday than watch Ohio State Penn
State on Saturday, because that's sometimes BTN has the Ohio
State Penn State. Well, no, it doesn't. Not, No, it
does the next day or that maybe the day after,
but it doesn't. It's a compromise. Has the all compromises. Hey, no, oh,
(22:35):
that's the dilemma. We leave out to you eight seven

find Manzi at Manzi Blanio's. You could find me at

(22:59):
Some I have forgotten, Yeah I did. Others may have
just messed up their own plans. Stories to tell next year.
On Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 8 (23:08):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio

listen live.
Speaker 1 (23:21):
It's Cavino and Rich on Fox Sports Radio. A Valentine's
the edition. She's Monte Milano. So I'm Dan Byer in
for Covino and Rich. We're live at the Tireq dot
Com studios. Tyler to put a ball on our conversation
of networks. Surprisingly enough, I don't know if you guys
know this, but Hulu as live sports, as Tyler lets
(23:44):
us know, also says you get shows, sports and news
all in one spot. So while Jason took Netflix, he
took Hulu.
Speaker 4 (23:50):
Hulu does have live sports.
Speaker 1 (23:53):
I don't have Hulu.
Speaker 4 (23:54):
But I've heard great, but you need Hulu Live, not
just regular Hulu.
Speaker 2 (23:58):
So that's Hulu is a dreaming platform. You can't just
take Hulu because anybody.
Speaker 4 (24:02):
Talking about Jason took Netflix.
Speaker 2 (24:04):
Yeah, but that Netflix is like, Hulu has channels, Netflix
has shown correct.
Speaker 4 (24:10):
So Hulu Live is I think what has.
Speaker 6 (24:12):
Sor Yes, No, Hulu Live is just like YouTube TV.
Bulu Live is just you get all the channels.
Speaker 5 (24:20):
Yeah, I don't know if Hulu just regular Hulu, which
is what I have, if I could watch a live game, I.
Speaker 6 (24:26):
Don't think you can.
Speaker 4 (24:27):
I don't think you can't.
Speaker 1 (24:28):
So Hulu is basically direct TV. We're not talking about
a network. We're talking about they're providing the channels for us.
We're talking about specific channels that are on these entities.
Speaker 4 (24:38):
Correct, yes, correct.
Speaker 1 (24:40):
Cleared up. Steve also wants to clear this up. Picking
Big ten network is the only only channel he can
ever watch, made sure he will live a life of celibacy.
No woman would ever just that channel with him since
he couldn't watch what she likes. Iowa, Sam any rebuttal
is Steve's point.
Speaker 2 (24:57):
That's a great point, Steve, find yourself, lady or someone
who likes the sports that you do, and then you'll
be fine. That's all I can say. Hey, point made
by Iowa Sam. I suppose, honey, can we watch can
we watch that documentary?
Speaker 3 (25:14):
No?
Speaker 1 (25:14):
You mean the documentary on the Maryland women's rowing team.
It's coming up at two am on Big ten Journey.
So I think they're wrong.
Speaker 2 (25:22):
I think I got confused at the start of all this.
Is it a sports channel that I care about or
is it something with everything I.
Speaker 1 (25:29):
Need in my life? Well, that's that's why, Manzi, that's
why I'll take the Smithsonian Channel, thank you very much.
Speaker 6 (25:36):
And Sam's defense, it would have entailed listening to the
show to get the you know, first five minutes of
the hour.
Speaker 1 (25:42):
Yeah, you know, have you seen that new documentary Manzi
on the rowing No, No, the one on the Nebraska
arm Wrestling Club team. Yeah, it airs tonight on the
Big ten Network at four am.
Speaker 2 (25:54):
How about BTN replaying that awesome documentary series Full Court
where you get to see us cool Kaitlin.
Speaker 1 (26:01):
Clark stuff, everything you wanted to know about the nineteen
eighty nine flying a Line Eye in the Round. The
final four up tonight on the Big ten Network, where
Iowa Sam will be watching.
Speaker 4 (26:12):
My face hurts from laughing.
Speaker 2 (26:13):
Occasionally they will play Hoosiers for you, so I will
get in a movie once in a while.
Speaker 1 (26:18):
I'll get Hoosiers. Yeah you got that. Yes, I've seen
it before. You think you know the story behind the
Wisconsin women's hockey team rise to national prominence. Wrong. Watch
tonight Big ten Network, ten o'clock Eastern Time with IOWASA,
and then the Barry Alvarez biopic comes in off after that,
Isaac Lohin cron Is at the news desk. We will
not waste any more of his Valentine's Day is he's
(26:40):
got important things to get to.
Speaker 3 (26:42):
Yeah, like literally right now looking at all the shows
on Big ten Network, a bunch of literally Mays and
Blue Michigan football in France, and blue is spelled b
l e U like blue cheese. So I will come
to the rescue in indeed, by detailing all the fun
that's had today in Philadelphia as the city through a
(27:05):
victory parade for the newly crowned Super Bowl champion Eagles.
Great time had by all, including sa Quan Barclay.
Speaker 7 (27:12):
You can't use worse than scribe this.
Speaker 6 (27:13):
Uh, Harry Talm, I think Philly. Can't take it to
no love, didn't take it to.
Speaker 1 (27:17):
Who no lo in. Me and my family just had
me on and be a part of the o VIC
station and be part of city in man.
Speaker 6 (27:24):
This scene deserts it all.
Speaker 7 (27:25):
Here we are.
Speaker 3 (27:26):
Festivities included someone accidentally hitting Eagles general manager Howie Roseman
in the forehead with a can of beer, causing a
bloody gash on Roseman's forehead that he displayed with pride.
Speaker 1 (27:39):
I bleed for this city, Go Eagles, the Birds. He
sounded like Peter Brady, his voice changed.
Speaker 4 (27:52):
I could just hear the alcohol in him. That's good.
Speaker 3 (27:55):
Luckily he didn't hit Marcia in the nose with an
inaccurate football Well, you know. Finally on the parade, guys,
the outlet front office sports to something very clever today.
They asked Eagles fans today what excuses they gave to
their bosses at work in order to attend the parade. Listen,
I went to.
Speaker 4 (28:15):
Urgent care and lied about being sick. So I have
the clue.
Speaker 6 (28:18):
I have stripped throat today.
Speaker 5 (28:19):
I can't make it to work cover and I have
a bad headache, and I had PMS. I'm dominating along,
I told my boss that I'm lactose intolerant.
Speaker 4 (28:27):
I had too much ice cream the night before and
I had to take off today.
Speaker 1 (28:30):
Boy, I am a teacher, sent my school closes down
for the day.
Speaker 4 (28:34):
I'm self employed, so I gave myself the day off.
Speaker 3 (28:36):
Meanwhile, over in western Pennsylvania, the Pittsburgh Steelers have just
released linebacker Preston Smith that they acquired in November from
the Green Bay Packers. The Miami Dolphins today released running
back Raheem Moster, tight end Durham Smythe, and cornerback Kendall Fuller. Finally,
multiple outlets report that Denver Bronco is hiring former New
Orleans Saints interim head coach Darren Rizzy as their new
(28:56):
special teams coordinator, reuniting him with sean On, Peyton, Dan
and Monsey.
Speaker 1 (29:01):
Back to you so much to get to in that
little bit of information from Isaac Longcron and unfortunately we
are not going to be able to. But I did
bring my Saints hat today. I got a Saint tat
in New Orleans. You give the Saints are innocent enough
where you can represent the Saints and.
Speaker 5 (29:17):
Nobody's gonna have Yeah, who are those people fooling though
everybody knows the parade is today.
Speaker 1 (29:24):
Just either say like, I'm not coming to work, or
tell your boss please just let us go.
Speaker 4 (29:29):
If I was a boss, I would appreciate the excuse.
I know where you're at, but I would still appreciate
you giving me an express.
Speaker 2 (29:35):
I think that's patronizing to be like, oh, I'm not
feeling well, I'm gonna miss this. They know I know,
so I'm gonna be like, yo, boss, I need to
be at this parade later. To me, Moncey, you are
not privy to this conversation. Jason Stewart, was what four
days ago we had this conversation or was this pre
Super Bowl? In talking about calling out Iowa. Sam is
(29:59):
under the guy's if you say you have diarrhea, that
you must have it because it's so embarrassing to say
that you have.
Speaker 1 (30:07):
I never said that. No, that's exactly what you say. No,
that is exactly your point, that it is so embarrassing
to have it, that it must be true because that's
what you told your boss. And I said, no, that's
that's just the price that you pay. That's what makes
it such a great excuse. Yes, you give the humiliation
to get out of something. Yeah, yes, absolutely, And so
(30:30):
that's why people say they have it. That's why everybody
has it. When they miss work. Oh sure you.
Speaker 4 (30:35):
Did, Yeah, Liz it if you're speeding and you get
to stop by a cop. The first thing he says,
I'm sorry, I have diarrhea. I have to get to
the restaurant.
Speaker 1 (30:40):
Yes, really for work. I got a flat tire.
Speaker 2 (30:43):
You got that really bad diarrhea. On the day of
the parade, Jason did get a flat tire.
Speaker 1 (30:48):
He did. It was at eleven o'clock on FRAUDAYD and
he came back from the Super Bowl. I got a
flat tire. It was Wednesday at five thirty, the day
it didn't work. So like, if I come back and
say I got a flat tire again, that excuse is
the window when people get flat tires all the time.
Some people do get flat tires all the time. However,
the the PMS, I think, is the one that you
(31:09):
can't argue.
Speaker 5 (31:10):
You can't argue that one, you really can't. It's an
easy one. It's an easy one.
Speaker 2 (31:15):
Especially if the boss is a man and he can't
relate to that. He's like, well, I can't exactly defer,
I got a default to your what you're feeling inside.
Speaker 6 (31:25):
Yeah, unless your boss is good at mouth, you can't
use it. Two weeks later. You can't use the same
one two weeks later.
Speaker 4 (31:33):
Wow, that would be keeping track real close of your employees.
Speaker 1 (31:37):
Right, what would it be like twenty eight days? Is
that cycles and such? Well, guys, what we're talking about
different for everyone?
Speaker 4 (31:49):
Yes, but everyone's different. Everyone's different. But yes, sometimes you
think I.
Speaker 1 (31:55):
Was talking about bicycles.
Speaker 4 (31:57):
All of that is true.
Speaker 1 (32:00):
It is Cavino and Riches least I think it is
here on Fox Sports Radio on this Valentine's Day? Do
you have plans tonight? Manci?
Speaker 7 (32:06):
I do.
Speaker 4 (32:07):
I'm sure I'll end up doing something, but you know,
the boyfriend's working.
Speaker 1 (32:10):
To who knows when Jason Stewart you thought you had plans?
Speaker 6 (32:14):
Yeah, So I'm not good at this stuff. I'm not
good at looking at the calendar and looking ahead and
seeing what to avoid and whatnot. So when our boss
contacted me a couple weeks ago and said you want
to pick up a shift on Friday that one Friday,
I said sure. And then as the days get closer,
I realized, Oh, it's Valentine's Day, and then I realized
(32:35):
that me and my girlfriend had plans that entail being
somewhere pretty early. So this is an LA specific problem.
Leaving work in Sherman Oaks at two pm to go
up to Santa Criita, it's about thirty miles, is much
different than leaving work on a Friday at four pm
(32:56):
up to Santa Karita, which will just delay my Valentine's
little bit, and it didn't make the girlfriend very happy.
Speaker 1 (33:03):
My wife did get flowers this morning, good job, but
she did not get a card. As I mentioned off
the top, I left the card in my vehicle. I
hit it in my vehicle, and then when I got
the flat tire and I had to get all new
tires because they were all worn, I had to keep
it in the shop and we didn't get it back
until today.
Speaker 4 (33:21):
So there goes the card.
Speaker 1 (33:22):
She will get the card at about six o'clock local
time tonight. Well Sam is watching Penn State and Ohio
State go at it in a Top ten wrestling match
tonight on the Big Ten Network. Rat She's Matsimlanios, I'm
Dan Byer. It's All Star Weekend in the NBA. We
get you caught up on what actually happened in the
first half of the NBA season. In case you missed it,
(33:43):
that's next here on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 8 (33:45):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to
listen live.
Speaker 1 (33:59):
Happy Valentine from everyone at Fox Sports Radio and I'll
speak for Cavino and Rich even though they're not here.
She's Monty Belanios. I'm Dan Beyer in for the guys.
Shortly after the show, our podcast will be going up.
If you missed any of today's show, be sure to
check out the podcast. Just search Cavino and Rich wherever
you get your podcast, and be sure to also follow,
rate and review the podcast. Again, just search Covino and
(34:19):
Rich wherever you get your podcasts. Rising Stars Challenge Game tonight.
The winner gets to stick around for All Star Weekend
and then play in the tournament bracket of the new format,
one that I don't know if it will have staying
power manci, but one that I will be intrigued to
watch on Sunday to see how it plays out. The
(34:42):
run to the score of forty. The elam ending, if
you will, in that version instead of being timed, I
think is always intriguing. I don't know how long this
format will last, but anything's got to be better than
the two hundred points scored by the East last year
in that game. So I am excited to see. But
also for someone who's been a Warrior hater or someone
who just hasn't liked the Warriors, it's to that point
(35:04):
now where you know, it's kind of going off into
the sunset, and I know you love the Jimmy Butler move,
so you can you can dispute me on that, but
it's also going to be a weekend of honoring Steph Curry. Yeah,
I think will be good in the NBA.
Speaker 5 (35:16):
Yeah, I mean I think the disliking the Warriors is
not necessary, doesn't necessarily go hand in hand with disliking
Stuph Curry, right, Like you could like Steph Curry, but
maybe not like the Warriors in their.
Speaker 4 (35:27):
Dynasty and whatnot. Yeah, I'll tune in. I tune in,
you know, even when they're scoring two hundred points. I'm
not gonna lie.
Speaker 5 (35:36):
We just want a little bit of competition, and I
do think this might give us that this format. How
long it's gonna last, that's a separate question, right, But
I do think we may actually see a little bit
of competition.
Speaker 1 (35:47):
And you like Jimmy Butler. Yeah, well you've always liked
Jimmy Butler.
Speaker 5 (35:51):
You like him with the Warriors, Yes, so, I know
I know some people out there but like he's being
a devo with Miami and maybe he was, but him
going to the Warrior I think helps Golden State a lot.
Speaker 4 (36:02):
I've watched several Golden State.
Speaker 5 (36:04):
Games this season, and they just once Curry goes to
the bench, it's like they don't know who's going to
score for them. Their bench is very inconsistent. The last
couple of games they are three and one since the trade,
Curry goes to the bench and then Jimmy.
Speaker 4 (36:16):
Butler gets in there. And the best part is Jimmy
doesn't take threes. They don't need that.
Speaker 5 (36:23):
This is the perfect team because they have the guys
that are gonna take threes. Draymond Green might take a three,
Jimmy doesn't do that. He likes to, you know, pull
up to the to the post or post up. He
likes to get to the top of the key and
take these little jumpers, and I think it works perfect
for the Warriors. I don't think they're gonna win or
go to the finals, but I do think that they
can shock some teams in this later half of the season.
Speaker 1 (36:44):
Phoenix, in a bit of slide, you mentioned the Warriors winning.
Warriors now in the seven to ten rain sitting there
at number ten in the West, tied with Sacramento, actually
from the ninth spot in the West entering this All
Star weekend. If you missed any of the first half
of the NBA season, don't worry. We've got you covered
here in our one hundred and eighty seconds of Covino
and Rich. So let's wrap up our a review of
(37:07):
the first half of the NBA season. Trivia game just
a battle of true and false. Monci, your turn to
present our question.
Speaker 4 (37:16):
All right, true or false?
Speaker 5 (37:17):
In this first half of the season, four players have
taken over one thousand shots.
Speaker 1 (37:24):
It's a lot of shots, a lot of shots. True,
it is true.
Speaker 5 (37:29):
Four players shake guil just Alexander Anthony Edwards, Jason Tatum,
and Kate Cunningham.
Speaker 4 (37:37):
Oh right, that was a bit of a surprise when
I saw that as well. Doug would like that Kate Cunningham.
Speaker 5 (37:42):
Yeah, it has taken one thousand and forty four shots
this season. Shake guil just Alexander eleven forty And just to.
Speaker 1 (37:50):
Clarify, Sam was mentioning Doug Gottlieb, who doesn't host Covino
on Rich. He hosts the show prior to Cavino on
Rich on Fox Sports Radio. But Sam also works on
the Doug gottlib Show. And that's why you brought it up.
Just like Jason and I do normally. Cayd played at
Oklahoma State. Doug talks about Kad Cunningham a lot. I know,
but this isn't Doug's show. This is Cavino and Rich's show.
That's all I'm saying. If we talked about Syracuse Greats
(38:13):
where Rich went to school, then it would then we
could say Rich would be happy. Yeah, yeah, right, don't worry.
Wrestling's coming up in nine minutes. You guys think all
that Big Ten Ever plays is wrestling. It's way more
than that. It's one versus eight tonight, it is all right,
NBA Trivia, question Time, go for it. Speaking of Steph
Curry to a fall, Steph Curry had a game this
(38:34):
year where he didn't make a field goal from the
didn't make a field goal? What's over?
Speaker 6 (38:40):
That sounds true? Actually, yeah, that's true.
Speaker 4 (38:43):
It sounds true. But he hit free throws.
Speaker 1 (38:45):
You see how the Big ten Network? Sam, did you
see the replay of the game? Just kidding?
Speaker 4 (38:49):
Yes, it's true.
Speaker 1 (38:50):
It is true. It is true. And a one ninety
three loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizzlies hit twenty
seven threes in that game. Steph Curry's only two points
came from the free throw.
Speaker 4 (39:00):
I was I knew he was in scoreless completely okay?
True or false?
Speaker 5 (39:03):
The Celtics tied the Bucks NBA record in October for
the most three pointers made in a game with twenty nine.
Speaker 1 (39:11):
False.
Speaker 5 (39:12):
It's true, geez, against the Knicks. It was actually opening
night of this season. Twenty nine threes by the Celtics.
Speaker 1 (39:19):
I thought you said it was against the Bucks.
Speaker 4 (39:21):
The Celtics tied the Bus. Oh that's okay, tied the
Box NBA record. Thank you for admitting that.
Speaker 1 (39:28):
That's because I just mentioned the twenty seven threes and
I actually thought that that was the record. But it's not.
Speaker 8 (39:33):
No, it was.
Speaker 1 (39:34):
Yeah, she fooled me. She hadn't fooled great job.
Speaker 4 (39:40):
Was that a drop?
Speaker 8 (39:41):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (39:42):
I didn't say that.
Speaker 4 (39:42):
You're drop right next down?
Speaker 6 (39:44):
I know it.
Speaker 4 (39:44):
Throw me off. Your drops sound so real?
Speaker 1 (39:47):
Hold on, hold on, I hate that one. Great job.
Victor Wembin Yama scored in double digits every game this
year he's played. True or false true true, you guys
want ano.
Speaker 6 (40:00):
This seems true.
Speaker 1 (40:01):
False false. It is false, but it only happened once
Wow October thirtieth against the Thunder he had six points.
Otherwise one Bama has been in double digits in every
game he's played, and deservedly so. An NBA All Star.
Speaker 4 (40:15):
Absolutely, absolutely enjoy.
Speaker 1 (40:18):
All Star weekend. Monci you too. You will be with
Steve Hartman tomorrow, I'll be with Carrie Roads coming up
on Sunday and Iowa Sam. We will be with Big
ten Network all weekend. Damn stream have Valent's Day
