Happy Friday, and boyd, do we have a story to
tell you about? There is no Covino and Rich. It
is Torrez and Bayer. Today's Friday.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
Hiowa Sam is here for this Friday extravaganza.
Speaker 1 (00:33):
Hello, Iowa Sam. Hush, my heart's racing. Yeah, We're gonna
get to that in a second. Jason Stewart, Hello everybody.
Manzi Milanio's at the news desk.
Speaker 4 (00:42):
How are you?
Speaker 5 (00:42):
What am I looking at here?
Speaker 1 (00:43):
You're gonna leave.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
Your studio in a minute and look at the car
chase that has stopped outside of our building here in
southern California. Monty, grab your key card, go in the
lobby where everybody else is standing. But please be safe. Yes,
a car chase. It appears someone stole a triple a
tow truck. Is that correct, Iowa Samwich, you characterize that.
(01:05):
I'm a proud member of Triple A. I don't know
if it's actually Triple A, but it is a tow truck.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
It sure looks like it is a Triple A tow truck.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
Bless them Triple A tow trucks. And there is a
line of cop cars right outside our building. Yes, you're
in Los Angeles, in the San Fernando Valley, and now
the suspect is out of the vehicle, but in a
standoff with LAPD. I understand that if you're in the
other forty nine states or even in northern California right now,
this isn't a story. But when you have a car chase,
(01:34):
which are more common out here than anywhere else, and
you have one stop in the middle of the street
in front of your building on a weekday afternoon, it
just doesn't happen all the time.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
Well, and it's crazy because we went into the lobby
and I mean you can see the guy. You know,
if you go to like KTLA dot comerce something, you
can see a live video of it. But the guy,
I mean, it's you go into the lobby of our
building and it's twenty five feet from you. I mean,
it's the length of a three point shot and then
you see the guy, You're like, oh, that's crazy. Then
(02:06):
you see a line of police cars that's probably ten
feet away from them.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
It's pretty crazy. I mean nothing crazy.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
If you were to sell box seats, yeah to this,
our lobby would be the primo fifty yard line of
where this is exactly. In fact, I put a picture
up on x at dan Byer on Fox you can
find Aaron at Aaron Underscore Torres, but of what we
just saw prior to Cavino and Rich starting here on
Fox Sports Radio, I do have to tell you we
(02:33):
are broadcasting live from the tierraq dot com studios. Tirec
dot com will help you get there and on match selection,
fast free shipping, free road has a protection and over
ten thousand recommended installers. Teyrraq dot com the way tire
buying should be. We're gonna talk NFL quarterbacks. In fact,
we're gonna talk LA and NFL quarterbacks because there could
be some comings and goings when it comes to how
(02:55):
the NFL looks in twenty twenty five with some familiar names.
But you were actually not involved in a car chase
where you were the one being chased, but you were
kind of a an innocent bystander. Yes, in a car
chase in southern California. One joint chase two was working
that day. I was, Sam, were you working that day too? Yes?
Speaker 2 (03:14):
It was yeah, yeah, you're rattled that day. I was
little rattled. I'll try to be quick here because this
one's much more interesting. But no, I mean, I've they've
heard the story already.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
But I was.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
I was driving on my way into Fox Sports Radio
and I'm in the I guess it would have been
maybe the middle lane.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
I think it was the middle lane. I'm just cruising along.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
I think I was actually listening to Doug Gottlieb, either
filling in for Colin or on the Doug Gottlieb Show,
and I was filling in for Cavino and Rich and
I see this car cut across like four lanes all
at once, probably you know, a couple hundred feet behind me,
And in my head I was thinking, like, you know,
the whole uh. You know, when you see a police car,
you pull over to the side of the road. I
(03:52):
was like, oh, that guy's a little aggressive whatever. And
then I see the guy at full speed, probably no
more than probably fifty to one hundred feet by Its
probably a little bit or about, you know, one hundred
and fifty two hundred feet behind me at full speed
take a sharp ramp exit. And I was like, unless
you're a sociopath, nobody. He was going ninety onto the
(04:12):
ramp into a breakdown lane. And I was like, oh
my god, that must have been a police chase. And
sure enough I called my sister in law, who my
wife I knew was in a meeting. So I called
my sister in law and she said, Yep, that is
absolutely a thing, that is absolutely happening.
Speaker 3 (04:25):
So this is the second time now you've been involved
in this. I mean what this wasn't as scary though
I was seeing the ninety mile per hour vehicle.
Speaker 2 (04:33):
Well, I will say in that one, by the by
the time it processed of what was happening, it was
already over. So like that one, it was like, by
the time I realized, oh, this is a police chase,
the guy was already off the exit, you know, headed
towards wherever. So this one is pretty crazy because we
were probably fifty feet away from it. And I mean,
(04:55):
not that I'm aware of the guy doesn't have a weapon,
but I mean, if he we were pretty close.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
If there was something, you know, if it got pretty serious.
Speaker 3 (05:02):
Danny g if he was in today, would have been
screwed because he usually comes in the last of the
crew and he would have been caught up in all
of this.
Speaker 1 (05:09):
This has been going on for about fifteen minutes.
Speaker 3 (05:12):
That White Oak traffic man and the one I stuck
at Whiteout Pass, that traffic at white Oak there there
we when we ran outside. I have a different version
that I can put up on X as well from
a different angle. But there are cars stopped at a
stoplight and they don't know necessarily what's going on because
they're just in traffic. Guy got out of his car
to go and get video of this. The suspect is
(05:35):
outside of his vehicle. But again, this is happening right
outside of our building here at Fox Sports Radio. That's
the only reason why this has taken precedent over us
talking NFL quarterbacks at this point. Mancy Belanios, we told
you left the news desk. We gave her the okay
to get a first hand to look at this as
well because she had to stick around and do the
(05:55):
Let's ask Mancy a few questions, Mancy, were you able
to see the suspect. Yeah, okay, were you able to
see the cops lined up behind this suspect?
Speaker 1 (06:05):
Yeah, I'll have one for you, Mancy.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
Okay, on a scale of one to ten of you
being scared, would you put yourself at a ten being
the most scared possible?
Speaker 4 (06:14):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (06:14):
Well right, Eric, don't ask her any no questions, right, Hey,
we'll handle a questioning here, Iowa, Sam, Yeah, yes, thank you, Monty,
appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
That's great news.
Speaker 6 (06:24):
Do you guys think the police would mind as they're
literally in a standoff here trying to negotiate this guy's life.
I'm sure if Monty just went up and asked if
he could do a phoner on Fox Sports.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
Radio, Oh, I will say that stringer would earn their money.
You know, sometimes those stringers show up and they don't
do much of anything.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
He's probably closer to us than the actual cops that
he's in a standoff with with right now, right, I mean,
like this is, this is right outside our doors. It
does not appear that he has a weapon. He is
just not surrendering. Surrendering. He's out of the vehicle. He
stole a triple a type of freeway tow truck that
(07:04):
is there to help you know when Triple A just
hangs out and waits for something that happens, so they
can be within that range that appears the type of
tow truck. I do not know how they suspect ended
up getting in that tow truck, but it has ended
right outside of our studios here at Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
Real quick, before we get to some football stuff, there
is a sports note that I think you and I
have been waiting on our Austin Karp from the Sports
Business Journal just tweeted ESPN drew nine point three million
viewers for Canada US final at four Nations Cup, better
than any NHL game ever. The prior record was eight
(07:41):
point nine million for Game seven of the Bruins Blues
Cup Final in twenty nineteen, but it does trail behind
the twenty ten gold medal game between the US and
Canada at the Vancouver Okay. So I mean, I point
three is a monster number considering that, especially if you
want to make the parallel with the NBA All Star Game, so,
which was I think about six million something like that.
Speaker 1 (08:01):
I don't know the exact numbers. I did not see them,
so you would know better than I wuld it very
easily surpassed the NBA all our biggest winner in this
if you want to go that route. The Olympics next
year will be on fire.
Speaker 3 (08:18):
I have a Winter Olympic Games in Italy, Northern Italy
next year, so that's a year from now, basically around February.
So when that is taking place, that will have our
attention for sure. When the US and hopefully they do
play Canada, but if they end up meeting for a
gold medal or however the bracket faces it turns out,
(08:40):
I think they'll be of interest.
Speaker 1 (08:41):
Whether they're not playing Canada, and then they'll.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
Be extreme interest if they are playing Canada because the
pros are going to be back next year.
Speaker 2 (08:46):
NBA All Star Game, per Front Office Sports average, four
point seven million viewers, the second least watched game on record.
It's almost double.
Speaker 3 (08:57):
And the four Nations come and there were three games.
That's right, right, there are three games that were actually played.
We have an update. Can we get an update from
the other side of the glass on what has gone on?
Iowa Sam Jason Stewart filling US in suspect has been apprehended, nothing,
no shots fired, nothing like that.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
We know of that's what you want.
Speaker 3 (09:21):
Peaceful. He's now in custody. He was peaceful, Jason Stewart.
You have a different, different view.
Speaker 6 (09:28):
It was a pretty anti climactic. He gave himself up.
He has put his arms behind his back and they
cuffed him. And I'm sure he'll be serving most of
the rest of his life in prison.
Speaker 2 (09:39):
I was just gonna ask, Manzi, you think that guy's
going to jail for a long time?
Speaker 5 (09:42):
Yeah, all right there, all right.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
She is Moncey Bolanos finder at Monty Blagos, you get
Jason Stewart at Jason Stewart. But Iowa Sam at Iowa
Sam ninety nine, let's talk quarterbacks. I think that there
is one story that is being completely blown out of proportion,
and I think it's the Rams willingness to trade Matthew Stafford.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
I agree, I just I think the.
Speaker 3 (10:09):
Rams are willing to trade Matthew Stafford if and only
if he is they are given an offer for Stafford
that is that blows their mind away, that just completely
is above his market value because someone is so desperate
for a quarterback or feeling that they need Matthew Stafford
(10:30):
this year. That is why I think that you hear
that he is available. I don't know if the Rams
are really shopping him, but I just don't see a
separation for Matthew Stafford and the Rams that is being
talked about so far this offseason.
Speaker 2 (10:44):
Yeah, it almost remind I don't know if we said
this on air, we were talking just off air, but
Bill Self, the Kansas coach, he's in Oklahoma State, alum.
They're playing on Saturday, and I guess Bill self was
asked about did he have interest in the offseason in
the Oklahoma State job? And he said, listen, I took
a call from them to help them find the next
(11:05):
head coach.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
Okay, that's that's.
Speaker 2 (11:07):
Very different than being a head coaching candidate himself. And
I think with Matthew Stafford, my thoughts are exactly yours.
Just because somebody may have called the Rams and say
is he available? Or if the Rams are calling uh,
or if the Rams have spoken to I mean what,
I know. You know this, Dan, I know, Jay Studen knows,
(11:28):
I know I was Sam knows Manziino's. But these guys
talk all day every day. You know, agents are talking
to gms, GMS are talking to coaches. GMS are talking
to guys out of the league, and so, yes, do
I think there was a scenario where somebody said, you know,
I bet if you called the Rams, and I bet
if you gave them the right price, they would at
least listen to a Matt Stafford conversation. That's a lot
(11:50):
different than Matt Stafford being on the trade block or
Matt Stafford being the next quarterback of the New York
Football Giants. And so I think, you know, and I
don't know if it's always been this, if it's just
a social media world that we live in, but stuff
just takes off like wildfire, and I think I think
to your point, we're very far away from Matthew Stafford
playing in any other uniform than the Rams next year.
Speaker 3 (12:10):
What has also happened is then there's a domino effect
to these stories. By the way, Monty Belanias is back
of the news desk. Before we wrap up this segment,
we will get her version of what happened as the
slow speed chase came to a stop outside of our studios.
So Manzi's hang tight. We'll get to you in about
five minutes or so to recap that, but with a
(12:31):
Stafford deal if he is moved, which we don't think
is the likely scenario, but to put the domino effect
in the place. If he's moved, what would the Rams
do next? Then the name Aaron Rodgers popped up. Yesterday
Jason Stewart produced The Doug Gottlieb Show. When Doug was
in for Colin Cowhurt on the Herd and Mark dominic
(12:52):
was there in Jay I'm Gonna lean on You. Dominick
kind of pointed to the Rams as being a possibility
if Rogers wanted to play in twenty So.
Speaker 6 (13:01):
Mark joined Doug yesterday on The Herb, but he also
joined him I think of the day after the Super
Bowl and answered the same question the same way twice.
Keep an eye on the Rams in the Aaron Rodgers sweepstakes.
I don't know what information he has, but that's kind
of his gut feeling. He doesn't give any any kind
of hard reporting. He just thinks that that's something that
(13:23):
to keep an eye on.
Speaker 3 (13:24):
It would be a team that I think is set
up to win, considering they just won the NFC West
and actually took the Philadelphia Eagles down to the wire
in a in a crazy weather game in Philadelphia, and
the divisional playoffs and ended up losing. But I just
I'm surprised by that Mark may have some inside information.
Rogers was tracked down by TMZ yesterday after a training
(13:47):
session and was asked on what he was looking for
in the next team and basically said that he wanted
to be wanted and wanted to make sure that they
were a good team. Now, those comments would fly in
the face of other possible teams that I thought Aaron
Rodgers could go to if you were to play in
(14:07):
twenty twenty five. I thought the Raiders were a possibility,
and honestly, Aaron I thought the Browns would have been
a possibility if he just wanted to play in twenty
twenty five. I actually think he's going to retire. I
don't think that that football is in the future, because now,
in hearing these comments even more, it strengthens it. I
don't know what good team says we need to bring
(14:27):
Aaron Rodgers, or we need a quarterback and that quarterback
needs to be Aaron Rodgers to get us to that level.
I just don't see teams out there like that, And
I think that you could make an argument for pretty
much any team that is borderline. I know there's a
question about Geno Smith's future in Seattle. Well, I'd rather
have Geno Smith, to be honest with you. A does
(14:48):
throw a lot of interceptions, but Gino plays pretty well,
Like that's the sort of team that you're looking at.
Speaker 1 (14:53):
So I don't even know if.
Speaker 3 (14:54):
There's a home for Aaron Rodgers in the NFL unless
this domino ended up ha happening in the Rams did
move off of Matthew Stafford.
Speaker 2 (15:02):
Yeah, so I'm in agreement with you because I think
there's a few things is one. First of all, I
just I don't think there's Listen, I think there's a
big enough market for teams who need quarterbacks. We know
that two of them are going to draft their future
quarterback with Shador Sanders and cam Ward and whatever order.
But I think Aaron Rodgers such an interesting guy because
(15:23):
it's really multi faceted. Whenever you think about his future
is like you said, he's not gonna want to go
to a team that's rebuilding, that's, you know, at the
bottom of the barrel. I don't know that he helps
in a rebuild situation. So you have that situation, right,
You also have a situation where he's clearly not going
anywhere to be a backup. Conversely, he's the type of
(15:44):
guy that you don't want to be a backup, you know.
It's like remember when Cam Newton it was like, well
he can't be a backup, and people would get offended.
Speaker 1 (15:50):
It's like, what does that mean? He can't be a backup?
It's like Tim Tebow.
Speaker 2 (15:53):
You can't have the biggest personality, the most well known
personality in your building as a quarterback.
Speaker 1 (16:00):
So I'm with you.
Speaker 2 (16:03):
The only spot that even makes remote sense to me,
assuming that there's not crazy dominoes like a Matt Stafford trade,
is the Raiders. Because they need a quarterback. They're kind
of out of that range where they're gonna be able
to draft one, and obviously Pete Carroll and a Chip
Kelly offensive coordinator who is making six million dollars a
(16:24):
year are not going to just acquiesce the organization to
Aaron Rodgers and he would kind of have to fall
in line. But even that kind of feels like a stretch.
Speaker 3 (16:32):
So I and the reason why I like the Raiders
are twofold is I still think that they are employee
for a quarterback. If you took Shudwar Sanders at six,
then great, but it doesn't mean that Shirdar Sanders has
to play right away. I also don't think that Pete
Carroll is into punting seasons, and I think that he
would want to win right away. And if there's anything
that we have learned from Chip Kelly and what he's done,
(16:54):
you're gonna run the football, and you're probably gonna run
the football a lot, and you're gonna try to keep
your offense on the field and limit plays and not
turn the ball over. And that's what Aaron Rodgers does, yes,
and so that like I think that for fit wise,
it works for the Raiders. But yeah, we're in lockstep here.
I just don't see I don't see a contender sliding in.
(17:15):
I think the Raiders would be the best fit if
he wanted to play again, But if we're going to
hold him to his word to what he told TMZ
after this training session, I don't know if the Raiders
are built to win. I don't know if they're a
good team that doesn't seem to fit the category. And
I'm just not willing to put him to the Rams
when I think that what the Rams are doing is
just trying to see what they could get for Matthew Stafford.
People put their houses on the markets just to see
(17:37):
what offers and if if one gets, you know, lows
them away, or if it's an all cash offer, fine,
make me move. Figure out a way to do it.
I feel that's what the Rams are doing with Matthew Stafford.
Speaker 1 (17:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (17:47):
Ironically, to me, I thought even going into the offseason
that the best logical spot was actually staying with the
Jets is that they do have talent. They're in that
number seven spot, I think, I said the Raiders where
it's seven before there. Obviously, as you said at six,
they're in a spot where they're probably not gonna be
able to draft a quarterback and they have a new
coaching staff, and Aaron Glen can kind of hold that
(18:08):
over him, is that, Hey, if you want to come
back here, it's going to be on my terms.
Speaker 1 (18:11):
But that is obviously not happening.
Speaker 4 (18:13):
To me.
Speaker 2 (18:13):
That was always the spot that made the most sense.
And other than that, I don't think there's a great
fit to be perfectly all.
Speaker 3 (18:20):
Right, let's get the car chase gate wrapped up here.
Let's go to our reporter who was on the scene,
she's now at the news desk Monte Belaanios with the latest.
Speaker 1 (18:29):
What did you see? I definitely chase.
Speaker 7 (18:32):
I stayed inside in the lobby each I did not
go outside.
Speaker 1 (18:35):
By the way I said, they were like fifty yard
line box seats.
Speaker 7 (18:38):
Yeah that scenario, yes, yeah, so it's come to an end.
For a second, I was a little bit uncomfortable. Uncomfortable
because the gentleman refused to kind of stand down. He
kept it looked like arguing back and forth, and at
one point it looked like he put his hand in
his pocket and he did grab something and it would
looked like maybe some taylanol or advil.
Speaker 5 (18:59):
It looked like bills.
Speaker 7 (19:00):
But he would not stand down, and he kept approaching
the officers and we all backed away from the window
because he would not stand down. And at one point
he stopped and they tackled him. So no one got
hurt and it's over. But he definitely put up a
weird fight and uncomfortable fight. Everybody was like, just stop moving,
(19:24):
just get down, just stop, and he eventually got bear
hugged and taken down.
Speaker 1 (19:31):
Did you get any video or a little bit?
Speaker 7 (19:33):
Yes, yes, everyone and their mom had their video their
phones out and I was like, I just want to watch.
Speaker 3 (19:39):
I tried to get a goosto to take a picture
of him, but he's like, no, no deal.
Speaker 2 (19:46):
Yeah, that was what I was afraid of. I was like,
it's cool that we're this close. I'm gonna snap my
little picture and get the heck out of here.
Speaker 5 (19:52):
Yes, oh totally.
Speaker 7 (19:53):
I got a little video. But then I went to
the back and I just was like, this is He's
not stopping. And he kept I sat inching closer to
them and was like standing in his ground and You're
just like, dude, stop, please, don't do this. And then
he was fiddling with his pocket and he had like
his hat and he was like hiding his hat and
then he like showed that you had nothing in his hat.
Speaker 5 (20:10):
But it was like just stop, just stop.
Speaker 3 (20:13):
It's such a good life lesson because it's easy to
watch it on TV and you're seeing it actually transpire
with authorities, with guns being pulled and in position, completely
different feeling, and.
Speaker 2 (20:28):
I think even on TV, you didn't get the perspective
of how close the police were.
Speaker 7 (20:32):
Yes, this car, Like I'm telling they were talking to
each other, that's how close they were.
Speaker 1 (20:36):
Yep, yeah it was.
Speaker 5 (20:37):
It was a little uncomfortable.
Speaker 1 (20:39):
I threw over.
Speaker 3 (20:39):
I threw up the picture, which does give the sense
if you can't even from the picture. I also threw
an alternate angle. We went out earlier in the break
and took it of the suspect. You can find it
at Dan Byer on Fox.
Speaker 4 (20:50):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search sr to
listen live.
Speaker 3 (21:03):
Everyone here is saying well done to Iowa Sam and
Jason Stewart.
Speaker 1 (21:07):
This is really Jason Stewart production here. It's like the
shack meme. Iowa Sam, I was not familiar with the game.
Speaker 3 (21:13):
Man.
Speaker 1 (21:14):
That's pretty good.
Speaker 3 (21:15):
Comno on Retcho on Fox Sports Radio, it's car chase
Central today is the guys are out. He's Eron Torres.
I'm Dan Byer, Monte Bolanos is here, Aaron Torres is here,
Iowa Sam is here, and Iowa Sam, you have just
posted your angle of the car chase that ended right
in front of our building within the last half hour.
Speaker 1 (21:36):
They can get that on exit. Iowa Sam, ninety nine,
Is that correct?
Speaker 3 (21:40):
Not quite there finally looking at the low vinyl edit,
just making sure I have all my emojis that I
want to properly describe the scene here. You'll see it
in about second. Yeah, time is definitely not of the
essence on something like this. This is something we're going
to dwell on for a long long time. Monty Blans,
you had a first hand look. Do you have anything
(22:00):
on social on this?
Speaker 5 (22:01):
I just posted one of the radios I didn't do.
I wanted to watch it more because I was, you know,
wanting to look out for my safety, so I wanted
to not really focus on the video. So I have
a small video that I did post.
Speaker 1 (22:13):
Did you sneak through the bushes to get it?
Speaker 5 (22:15):
I did not know, like the real MVP is Dan. Yeah,
the real MVP is Dan.
Speaker 1 (22:20):
I just fell into it.
Speaker 3 (22:21):
It was kind of a grassy Koll situation where I
had one angle loading and realized that the box seats
were actually better than my end zone seats of this
car chase because they couldn't see the cops when we
went outside. We didn't know where this stopped. And lo
and behold of you just tuning in. Someone stole. I'm
just going to call it a triple a tow truck.
It's the easiest way to describe it. And the car chase,
(22:44):
the slow speed car chase ended right in front of
where we work.
Speaker 1 (22:48):
It is.
Speaker 3 (22:48):
It is a it is a sand wedge away something
that aaron for me to fight off the coyotes.
Speaker 1 (22:54):
That's where it is. I still waiting for your mom's
advice for me.
Speaker 3 (22:57):
Oh I will, I will pass that along, Manzio. Moncy
Blanios is where you can see the video. If you
go to her page, you're gonna have to go past
the pinned tweety where she's flexed her calves at the mic.
Speaker 1 (23:09):
So that's so. I think it's still probably there.
Speaker 5 (23:12):
Right, Yes, it is there, and I'm not flexing.
Speaker 7 (23:14):
But it happens when you're It is natural when you're sure.
I always have my foot in like a weird position
because you know, I'm sure.
Speaker 3 (23:21):
All right, We've got comments on the car chase. Someone
was watching it on YouTube on smoking Scan. I had
no idea that there was such a channel. They just
got some pub Frank Ohita, fan of the network, tell
Rob Parker to calm down and turn himself in. Well,
Doug Gottlie was tweeted in exciting.
Speaker 2 (23:41):
Cops were that mad about Rob's Andy Reid take from her?
Speaker 3 (23:46):
Yeah yeah, dog oh man, Aaron tweeted in listening in
North Dakota. You had to see it for himself. Tow
truck was saved, Aaron, don't have to worry about that.
They also put it up on Blue Sky and Duder
followed me liked it so in your face, Monti, the
(24:07):
followers are going up on last night at ten thirty.
At ten thirty at night, my wife says, someone approached
our house on the ring. I'm like, what's going on?
And I'm downstairs. She's upstairs, three year olds upstairs sleeping,
and the ring everybody knows the ring sound, the chimes.
(24:29):
Everybody knows it. It's just the same as a ring
tone on the phone. Turns out, neighbors playing basketball at
ten thirty on a Thursday night? Is that offensive? Should
that not have happened? Because Aeron Torres I went outside
and just told my neighbors, who I love to death,
(24:49):
sixteen year old and his buddy, guys, it's ten thirty
on a school night, what are we doing out here
playing basketball?
Speaker 1 (24:56):
They shut it down.
Speaker 3 (24:57):
They went inside, not before the the other kid gave
me a little lip and tried to disrespect me and
iah that real quick. Yeah, grab this golf clase, I said, guys,
what are you doing? He goes playing basketball? Yeah, I'm
not an idiot. I go, it's ten thirty at night.
Can't play basketball? I go, I got a three year
old sleeping upstairs, and I got a ring going off
because you guys can't get your rebounds.
Speaker 1 (25:19):
Did you really say that? I didn't say the part
about the rebounds, but I did be saying so good.
But I did say.
Speaker 3 (25:25):
I did say the ball is rolling up our driveway
and coming on our lawn and it's setting off of
our ring.
Speaker 1 (25:31):
So what is the deal here?
Speaker 3 (25:33):
And they are neighbor who's gonna turn He's gonna turn
sixteen tomorrow. Just the nicest kid on her said, sorry, Dan,
sorry about that. You know, well, we'll stop. They went
inside with this other kid. I don't want to call
him a punk, but I will for the sake of
this argument. Walked inside as well, pouting I'm not wrong
for ten thirty playing basketball in a cul de sac
(25:54):
in a neighborhood.
Speaker 1 (25:56):
That is not wrong, right.
Speaker 3 (25:57):
Like if it's if it's a summer night and it's
July and it's ten ten thirds sort of out yeah, yeah,
this is this is February twenty at at ten thirty
at night a Thursday night. Am I am, I Manzi,
you're kind of giving me the lord.
Speaker 5 (26:11):
No, no, no, no, I I don't think that was cool.
Speaker 1 (26:14):
I don't think that was cool. Okay.
Speaker 5 (26:15):
I may have been a punk like back to you,
but I would have been like he was.
Speaker 1 (26:19):
Right, Yeah, you know what I mean, understand exactly.
Speaker 7 (26:23):
They don't know, they don't know, but you're obvious on
a Thursday night.
Speaker 5 (26:26):
Absolutely not.
Speaker 3 (26:27):
I have a general rule that it like, don't mow
your lawn prior to eight am. And uh so like
the hours of eight eight am to about nine pm
you can do. You should be able to do pretty
much anything outside if it makes noise or not whatever.
But I think after nine pm or before eight am,
that's not that's not being a good neighbor.
Speaker 1 (26:47):
Absolutely not.
Speaker 3 (26:48):
And and that young man he just needed a moment
to learn to understand. Like I can't really put it
on him, but he'll learn and.
Speaker 1 (26:54):
He'll shut up. He's what he needs to do absolute
at his house? Who is he? I know that that's
what he needs to do. It was obliviousness on his part.
Speaker 3 (27:01):
But if you're out there at like I sectually saw
a video on Twitter of a guy shoveling snow at
like four thirty in the morning in Canada and his
neighbor just starts letting him have it and they're just
yelling at each other in the middle of the night.
You should not be shoveling snow at four thirty n However, However,
when you plow, you have to do it early in
the morning, because yes, you need to get out for work,
so like plows are going at maybe not running the
(27:23):
snowblower on the sidewalk, but if it is, like the
earlier you get the snow out of the way, the better.
This guy was shoveling his driveway though with the cracking
and crunching sounds off shovel.
Speaker 1 (27:33):
Okay, I think for work that's different. That's different than
what dance.
Speaker 3 (27:36):
But I mean, like you can shovel yourself out a
little path, but like you shouldn't be making a ton.
My point is you should not be making a ton
of noise at four thirty in the morning. I think
that's just disrespectful. Maybe you have to do it. But
my take, just try not to do it. So I
kind of understood where neighbor is coming from. I even
I even bargained with him on the spot. I said, guys,
if it was ten o'clock, that's cool, guys, go to
ten uh Litsten, I'm not gonna I'm not gonna come
(27:59):
out here. But at ten thirty, like, that's just it's
a it's a little too much on a Thursday, yes,
not a Saturday, not a Friday.
Speaker 7 (28:06):
Correct, on the summer, like you said. Also, that's also
a part of it.
Speaker 1 (28:09):
It's winter here. It's eighty degrees in winter here, people,
yeahst winter, you know.
Speaker 3 (28:14):
I mean, it's you know, last night, I was like
fifty degrees here in southern California.
Speaker 1 (28:17):
It's a nice night to shoot some hoops and do
what you want. Just should have done it two hours earlier,
agreed Torres.
Speaker 2 (28:24):
Uh No, I'm I'm so. I I'm in total agreement
with you. I the last place I lived. I don't
even know if you know, but I have left since
left Pasadena from where I was for about six years.
Speaker 1 (28:34):
I lived right.
Speaker 2 (28:35):
Twenty minutes from here. It's oh wow, that not even
twenty probably about ten. But we lived like there was
like a garage, like the we lived right above the garage,
and there was an alley way right above where we lived.
And the amount of things that people decided to do
in that alleyway from post like ten pm on was oh,
(28:56):
let's get together, Oh let's everybody come out and have
a bee. Like, dude, it's eleven forty five, Like, you know,
I got to sleep here.
Speaker 3 (29:04):
You know, I think it's an alley and so it's
like back in the hidden and not yeah, people, right,
that's not the exact opposite. It's not Hank Hill and
his friends out in their little alley at four in
the afternoon having an alamobier.
Speaker 1 (29:14):
Yeah you want to have an altleven here at four pm,
that's fine, a save one for me.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
But ten thirty it's like, no, I'm totally with you,
because yeah, that that was We loved our old place,
but it was that was the one thing. And like
there are also people that moved at the in the
middle of the night, which I think is as someone
who just as someone who just moved, it's like that's
the worst experience ever. Why are you trying to do
it at eleven o'clock at night. But that's another conversation.
Speaker 1 (29:37):
Again, we're gonna call the sex.
Speaker 3 (29:38):
So there's five other homes that are also hearing, you know,
like the basketball bouncing clink because they weren't making a
lot of shots. Sorry Slade, but like that was like
that's the point. And then when you're running, rings are
going off like it's chaos. You don't think it is.
It's different if you're in your backyard. If they're shitting
hoops in their backyard, there's really nothing that I can
do about it. If it would have been if we
(30:00):
had an alley, I guess it's whatever. Maybe it's saying
on the neighbor hey, but I felt like I was
doing I felt like I was doing the cul de
sacs work as well by saying, all these other homes
also don't want to hear this bouncing basketball and see
it around?
Speaker 1 (30:13):
All right? Good thanks, That's what I felt like too.
With the alley.
Speaker 2 (30:15):
I'm like, why am I the only one complaining about this?
But I would you, I would say this. I would
generally do the guys, come on, it's eleven o'clock, guys,
I got to get up to work tomorrow and for
the most part.
Speaker 1 (30:26):
I actually really don't remember getting a ton of significant
pushback on it.
Speaker 3 (30:29):
So it is funny when you do get pushback, it's
like people will like swear at you for something that's
very like you're telling you're saying something that's very like
generally accepted, like it's too late to be doing this,
and people start cursing at you, like like you're you're
presenting some idea that's never been I think this kid
thought that when he was spouting off to me, like
thought like I was the get off my lawn. Like
(30:52):
this guy just does not want any fun, Like I
was against basketball. Little does he know what I do
for a living, Like just it doesn't make it sense basketball,
But not at ten at night, cul de Sac with
my three year old's trying to sleep.
Speaker 1 (31:05):
Just is not everybody cul de Sac trying to sleep? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (31:08):
Crazy, all right, That's why I was Sam, Aaron Torres,
Jason Stewart, Montson, Belanios, I'm Dan Bayer. We're all in
hanging out Cavino and rich out today on this Friday.
Glad to have you with us on Fox Sports Radio
Live from the TIREC dot Com studios. Some big, big
changes coming in Major League Baseball for a team and
the league as a whole. We'll explain him next on
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (31:28):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to
listen live.
Speaker 1 (31:42):
Not everybody loves basketball.
Speaker 3 (31:43):
Apparently they were at ten thirty last night, but not
at ten thirty one a. It is Cavino and Rich
here on Fox Sports Radio. He's erin Torres. I'm Dan Bayer.
Had to shut it down with the neighbors. Gotta talk
to the dad later today. I think he was in
bed and I would have sided with me. So I
don't even know if he knows what's going on, but
(32:03):
I'll fill him in, not to put his son in trouble,
just to give him the heads up.
Speaker 1 (32:08):
Hey, this is what happened. This is what I did.
I even have me on the ring. My wife sent
me the video of being like, guys, what's happening? No,
I did. I lived it for five six years when
I was in Pasadenas, so.
Speaker 3 (32:19):
You completely understand. From basketball to baseball we go two
changes taking place. Number one, the Yankees changing their long
standing facial grooming policy to now allow.
Speaker 1 (32:29):
Well groomed beards. Well groomed beards getting the thumbs up
from the Yankees. Devin Williams probably happy with that. There's
also a change in Major League Baseball, and this was
broken yesterday by The Athletic that ESPN and Major League
Baseball parting ways at least after this season, opting out
(32:49):
of their current TV deal with three years remaining. Major
League Baseball mutually opting out. Major League Baseball unhappy with
the coverage that ESPN has been giving them outside of
the games that they air and may even get less.
ESPN was asking to pay less for the five hundred
and forty million dollars on average doing each of the
(33:10):
next three seasons. Major League Baseball did not want to
accept the offers, so the sides mutually agreed to opt
out of their deal, Baseball ending on ESPN after this year. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (33:20):
I mean, I know that Foxes are, you know, a
great partner of MLB, but that Sunday night game is
kind of a little bit of a tradition and it's
kind of a little bit of a disappointment to see.
Speaker 1 (33:31):
I find it all very interesting. I find it all
very interesting.
Speaker 2 (33:35):
With the ratings conversation and the topics conversation or we
talked about enough?
Speaker 1 (33:40):
Are we not talked about enough?
Speaker 2 (33:42):
And I also just find it interesting with the conversation
of how much you know ESPN paid for the NBA
and what you know, what are they getting out of
that contract? So uh not totally surprised, curious what what
Baseball's future is outside of Fox to.
Speaker 3 (33:57):
Not have Baseball Tonight, to not have a show like
that that hasn't aired in I think since twenty seventeen.
I'll give a tip of the cap to MLB Network.
I actually think it's the best league run network. Great
call NBA TV, MLB Network, NHL Network, and NFL Network.
(34:17):
I think MLB Network does the best with their sport.
I feel their nightly shows are better. ESPN does cater
to who they own the rights to. It blows my
mind why I'm watching NBA Live on September sixth, Sure,
you know, I mean, it's just it doesn't it doesn't
make any sense. But they're obviously huge partners with the NBA,
(34:41):
so NBA Live stays there. I get NFL Live up
until June twond about that point. Then you can go
on hiatus until mid July and then pick it up
back up again. I don't think that that's a problem,
but I know Baseball Tonight was a staple of many
who liked baseball, and to not have that well, and I.
Speaker 2 (34:59):
Think it's I thought it was a perfect thing for
you know, like NBA Tonight, sometimes there's only two or
three Baseball has basically every game every night, and outside
of your team, it's impossible to keep up with everything.
And so I found Baseball Tonight very useful as opposed
to where we are now, where you kind of just
hard to follow everything going on in any given day.
Speaker 1 (35:17):
Well, you can only get any golf coverage unless you
go to golf.
Speaker 3 (35:20):
Channel like that. There's just plain and simple live events
on Fox. Properties PG two are obviously NBC CBS and
Majors CBS NBC hosting those. You also have a scenario
where you are getting into golf because you needed a
golf club to walk your dog, to keep the coyotes
(35:42):
away at least to protect yourself. Yes, my mom went
instead of just having the golf club. I think she
thinks that you have land in that coyotes are ruining
your garden and in your backyard because she said put
out mothballs, white vinegar, and containers and wolf urine.
Speaker 1 (36:01):
Oh so, I don't know if you want to carry
a water bottle of.
Speaker 3 (36:05):
Wolf urine, which I think you could just get at
pretty much any local store.
Speaker 1 (36:09):
Any change saw with Amazon looking.
Speaker 2 (36:11):
For wolf right, Yeah, where do I grab the wolf like?
Do they have it at Whole Foods? Or where do
I get They may it just may be high end
all natural wolf urine. But those were some of the
things that my mom suggested. And in Oh.
Speaker 1 (36:26):
I'm certainly caaren a bottle. Give it a shot. The
golf club doesn't work. You know where to turn? All right?
Speaker 3 (36:32):
He is here and torres dam Dan byer in for
Covino and Rich here on Fox Sports Radio. Coming up next,
College football's playoff is changing, but so many college basketballs
we'll discuss next
