Speaker 2 (00:22):
Happy Friday, and boyd, do we have a story to
tell you about? There is no Cabino and Rich. It
is Torrez and Bayer. Today's Friday. Hiowa Sam is here
for this Friday extravaganza. Hello, Iowa Sam. Hush, my heart's racing. Yeah,
We're gonna get to that in a second.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
Jason Stewart, Hello everybody.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
Manzi Milanio's at the news desk. How are you?
Speaker 3 (00:45):
What am I looking at here?
Speaker 2 (00:46):
You're gonna leave your studio in a minute and look
at the car chase that has stopped outside of our
building here in southern California, MONTI grab your key card,
go in the lobby where everybody else is standing. But
please be safe. Yes, a car chase. It appears someone
stole a triple a tow truck. Is that correct, Iowa Samwich,
(01:07):
you characterize that I'm a proud member of Triple A.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
I don't know if it's actually Triple A, but it
is a tow truck.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
It sure looks like it is a Triple A tow truck.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
Bless them Triple A tow trucks.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
And there is a line of cop cars right outside
our building. Yes, you're in Los Angeles, in the San
Fernando Valley, and now the suspect is out of the vehicle,
but in a standoff with LAPD. I understand that if
you're in the other forty nine states or even in
northern California right now, this isn't a story. But when
you have a car chase, which are more common out
(01:39):
here than anywhere else, and you have one stop in
the middle of the street in front of your building
on a weekday afternoon, it just doesn't happen all the time.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
Well, and it's crazy because we went into the lobby
and I mean you can see the guy. You know,
if you go to like KTLA dot comerce something, you
can see a live video of it. But the guy,
I mean, it's you go into the lobby of our
building and it's twenty five feet from you. I mean,
it's it's the length of a three point shot. And
then you see the guy, You're like, oh, that's crazy.
(02:09):
Then you see a line of police cars that's probably
ten feet away from them. It's pretty crazy. I mean
nothing crazy.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
If you were to sell box seats, yeah to this,
our lobby would be the primo fifty yard line of
where this is exactly. In fact, I put a picture
up on x at Dan Byer on Fox you can
find Aaron at Aaron Underscore Torres, but of what we
just saw prior to Cavino and Rich starting here on
Fox Sports Radio, I do have to tell you we
(02:36):
are broadcasting live from the tierraq dot com studios. Tirec
dot com will help you get there and on match selection,
fast free shipping, free road has a protection and over
ten thousand recommended installers, teyrrac dot com the way tire
buying should be. We're gonna talk NFL quarterbacks. In fact,
we're gonna talk LA and NFL quarterbacks because there could
be some comings and goings when it comes to how
(02:57):
the NFL looks in twenty twenty five with some familiar names.
But you were actually not involved in a car chase
where you were the one being chased, but you were
kind of a an innocent bystander, Yes, in a car
chase in southern California.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
One joint Chase two was working that day. I was Sam,
were you working that day too?
Speaker 2 (03:16):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (03:16):
It was yeah, yeah, you're rattled that day. I was
little rattled. I'll try to be quick here because this
one's much more interesting. But no, I mean, I've they've
heard the story already. But I was. I was driving
on my way into Fox Sports Radio and I'm in
the I guess it would have been maybe the middle lane.
I think it was the middle lane. I'm just cruising along.
I think I was actually listening to Doug Gottlieb, either
(03:36):
filling in for Colin or on the Doug Gottlieb Show,
and I was filling in for Cavino and Rich and
I see this car cut across like four lanes all
at once, probably you know, a couple hundred feet behind me,
And in my head I was thinking, like, you know,
the whole uh, you know, when you see a police car,
you pull over to the side of the road. I
was like, Oh, that guy's a little aggressive whatever. And
(03:57):
then I see the guy at full speed, probably no
more than probably fifty to one hundred feet by I mean,
it was probably a little bit more about, you know,
one hundred and fifty two hundred feet behind me at
full speed take a sharp ramp exit, and I was like,
unless you're a sociopath, nobody. He was going ninety onto
the ramp into a breakdown lane. And I was like,
(04:18):
oh my god, that must have been a police chase.
And sure enough I called my sister in law, who
my wife I knew was in a meeting. So I
called my sister in law and she said, Yep, that
is absolutely a thing, that is absolutely happening.
Speaker 2 (04:27):
So this is the second time now you've been involved
in this. I mean what this wasn't as scary though
I was seeing the ninety mile per hour vehicle.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
Well, I will say in that one, by the time
by the time it processed of what was happening, it
was already over. So like that one, it was like,
by the time I realized, oh this is a police chase,
the guy was already off the exit, you know, headed
towards wherever. So this one is pretty crazy because we
were probably fifty feet away from it. And I mean,
(04:57):
not that I'm aware of the guy doesn't have a weapon,
but I mean if he we were pretty close, if
there was something, you know, if it got pretty serious.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
Danny g if he was in today, would have been
screwed because he usually comes in the last of the
crew and he would have been caught up in all
of this. This has been going on for about fifteen minutes.
Speaker 4 (05:15):
That White Oak traffic man and the one I'm stuck
at Whiteout Pass, that traffic at white.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
Oak there there when we ran outside, I have a
different version that I can put up on X as
well from a different angle. But there are cars stopped
at a stoplight and they don't know necessarily what's going
on because they're just in traffic. Guy got out of
his car to go and get video of this. The
suspect is outside of his vehicle. But again, this is
happening right outside of our building here at Fox Sports Radio.
(05:43):
That's the only reason why this has taken precedent over
us talking NFL quarterbacks at this point. Monty Belanios, we
told you left the news desk. We gave her the
okay to get a first hand to look at this
as well, because she had to stick around and do
the let's ask Mancy. A few questions, Mancy. Were you
able to see the suspect?
Speaker 1 (06:02):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (06:02):
Okay? Were you able to see the cops lined up
behind this suspect?
Speaker 1 (06:08):
Yeah, I'll have one for you, Mancy.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (06:11):
On a scale of one to ten of you being scared,
would you put yourself at a ten being the most
scared possible?
Speaker 5 (06:16):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (06:17):
Well, right, Eric. They don't ask her any no questions, right, hey,
we'll handle a questioning here Iowa, Sam, Yeah, yes, thank you, Monzy,
appreciate it. That's great news.
Speaker 5 (06:27):
Do you guys think the police would mind as they're
literally in a standoff here trying to negotiate this guy's life.
I'm sure if Monty just went up and asked if
he could do a phoner on Fox Sports.
Speaker 1 (06:37):
Radio, Oh, I will say that stringer would earn their money.
You know, sometimes those stringers show up and they don't
do much of anything.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
He's probably closer to us than the actual cops that
he's in a standoff with with right now, right, I
mean like this is, this is right outside our doors.
It does not appear that he has a weapon. He
is just not surrendering, surrendering. He's out of the vehicle.
He stole a triple A type of freeway tow truck
that is there to help you know when triple A
(07:09):
just hangs out and waits for something that happens, so
they can be within that range that appears the type
of tow truck. I do not know how the suspect
ended up getting in that tow truck, but it has
ended right outside of our studios here at Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
Real quick, before we get to some football stuff, there
is a sports note that I think you and I
have been waiting on our Austin Karp from the Sports
Business Journal just tweeted ESPN drew nine point three million
viewers for Canada US final at four Nations Cup, better
than any NHL game ever. The prior record was eight
(07:44):
point nine million for Game seven of the Bruins Blues
Cup Final in twenty nineteen, but it does trail behind
the twenty ten gold medal game between the US and
Canada at the Vancouver Okay. So, I mean, I point
three is a monster number considering that, especially if you
want to make the parallel with the NBA All Star Games, So,
which was I think about six million something like that.
Speaker 2 (08:04):
I don't know the exact numbers. I did not see them,
so you would know better than I would.
Speaker 1 (08:08):
It very easily surpassed the NBA all.
Speaker 2 (08:11):
Our biggest winner in this if you want to go
that route. The Olympics next year will be on fire.
I have a Winter Olympic Games in Italy, Northern Italy
next year, so that's a year from now, basically around February.
So when that is taking place, that will have our
(08:31):
attention for sure. When the US and hopefully they do
play Canada, but if they end up meeting for a
gold medal or however the bracket faces it turns out.
I think they'll be of interest whether they're not playing Canada,
and then they'll be extreme interest if they are playing
Canada because the pros are going to be back next year.
Speaker 1 (08:49):
NBA All Star Game, per Front Office Sports average four
point seven million viewers, the second least watched game on record,
it's almost double.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
And the Four Nations Cup and there were three games.
That's right, right, there are three games that were actually played.
We have an update. Can we get an update from
the other side of the glass on what has gone on? Iowa?
Sam Jason Stewart filling us in suspect has been apprehended. Nothing,
no shots fired, nothing like that we know of. That's
(09:22):
what you want.
Speaker 1 (09:23):
Peaceful. He's now in custody.
Speaker 2 (09:26):
He was peaceful. Jason Stewart, you have a different, different view.
Speaker 5 (09:31):
It was a pretty anti climactic. He gave himself up.
He has put his arms behind his back and they
cuffed him. And I'm sure he'll be serving most of
the rest of his life in prison.
Speaker 1 (09:42):
I was just gonna ask Manzi, you think that guy's
going to jail for a long time? Yeah, all right there,
all right.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
She is Moncey Bolanos finder at Monty Blagos. You get
Jason Stewart at Jason Stewart. But Iowa Sam at Iowa
Sam ninety nine, let's talk quarterbacks. I think that there
is one story that is being completely blown out of proportion,
and I think it's the rams willingness to trade Matthew Stafford.
I agree, I just I think the Rams are willing
(10:13):
to trade Matthew Stafford if and only if he is
they are given an offer for Stafford that that blows
their mind away, that just completely is above his market value.
Because someone is so desperate for a quarterback or feeling
that they need Matthew Stafford this year. That is why
(10:34):
I think that you hear that he is available. I
don't know if the Rams are really shopping him, but
I just don't see a separation for Matthew Stafford and
the Rams that is being talked about so far this offseason.
Speaker 1 (10:47):
Yeah, it almost remind I don't know if we said
this on air, we were talking just off air, but
Bill Self, the Kansas coach, he's in Oklahoma State alum.
They're playing on Saturday, and I guess Bill self was
asked about he have interest in the offseason in the
Oklahoma State job, and he said, listen, I took a
call from them to help them find the next head coach. Okay,
(11:09):
that's very different than being a head coaching candidate himself.
And I think with Matthew Stafford, my thoughts are exactly yours.
Just because somebody may have called the Rams and say
is he available, or if the Rams are calling, or
if the Rams have spoken to I mean what I know.
You know this, Dan, I know, Jay Studen knows, I
(11:30):
know I was Sam knows Manzios. But these guys talk
all day every day. You know, agents are talking to gms.
Gms are talking to coaches, GMS are talking to guys
out of the league, and so yes, do I think
there was a scenario where somebody said, you know, I
bet if you called the Rams, and I bet if
you gave him the right price, they would at least
listen to a Matt Stafford conversation. That's a lot different
(11:53):
than Matt Stafford being on the trade block or Matt
Stafford being the next quarterback of the New York Football Giants.
So I think, you know, and I don't know if
it's always been this way, if it's just a social
media world that we live in, but stuff just takes
off like wildfire, and I think I think to your point,
we're very far away from Matthew Stafford playing in any
other uniform than the Rams next year.
Speaker 2 (12:13):
What has also happened is then there's a domino effect
to these stories. By the way, Monty Belanias is back
of the news desk. Before we wrap up this segment,
we will get her version of what happened as the
slow speed chase came to a stop outside of our studios.
So Manzi's hang tight. We'll get to you in about
five minutes or so. To recap that but with a
(12:34):
Stafford deal if he is moved, which we don't think
is the likely scenario, but to put the Domino effect
in the place. If he's moved, what would the Rams
do next? Then the name Aaron Rodgers popped up yesterday
Jason Stewart produced the Doug Gottlieb Show. When Doug was
in for Colin Cowhurt on the Herd and Mark dominic
(12:55):
was there in Jay I'm Gonna lean on You. Dominie
kind of pointed to the being a possibility if Rodgers
wanted to play in twenty twenty five.
Speaker 5 (13:03):
So Mark joined Doug yesterday on The Herb, but he
also joined him I think of the day after the
Super Bowl and answered the same question the same way twice.
Keep an eye on the Rams in the Aaron Rodgers sweepstakes.
I don't know what information he has, but that's kind
of his gut feeling. He doesn't give any any kind
of hard reporting. He just thinks that that's something that
(13:26):
to keep an eye on.
Speaker 2 (13:27):
It would be a team that I think is set
up to win, considering they just won the NFC West
and actually took the Philadelphia Eagles down to the wire
in a crazy Weather game in Philadelphia and the divisional
playoffs and ended up losing. But I just I'm surprised
by that Mark may have some inside information. Rogers was
tracked down by TMZ yesterday after a training session and
(13:51):
was asked on what he was looking for in the
next team and basically said that he wanted to be
wanted and wanted to make sure that they were a
good team. Now, those comments would fly in the face
of other possible teams that I thought Aaron Rodgers could
go to if you were to play in twenty twenty five.
(14:11):
I thought the Raiders were a possibility, and honestly, Aaron
I thought the Browns would have been a possibility if
he just wanted to play in twenty twenty five. I
actually think he's going to retire. I don't think that
football is in the future, because now, in hearing these
comments even more, it strengthens it. I don't know what
good team says we need to bring Aaron Rodgers, or
(14:32):
we need a quarterback and that quarterback needs to be
Aaron Rodgers to get us to that level. I just
don't see teams out there like that, And I think
that you could make an argument for pretty much any
team that is borderline. I know there's a question about
Geno Smith's future in Seattle. Well, I'd rather have Geno Smith,
to be honest with the A does throw a lot
of interceptions, but Gino plays pretty well. Like that's the
(14:54):
sort of team that you're looking at. So I don't
even know if there's a home for Aaron Rodgers in
the end, unless this domino ended up happening and the
Rams did move off of Matthew Stafford.
Speaker 1 (15:05):
Yeah, so I'm in agreement with you because I think
there's a few things is one. First of all, I
just I don't think there's Listen, I think there's a
big enough market for teams who need quarterbacks. We know
that two of them are going to draft their future
quarterback with Shador Sanders and cam Ward and whatever order.
But I think Aaron Rodgers such an interesting guy because
(15:26):
it's really multi faceted. Whenever you think about his future
is like you said, he's not gonna want to go
to a team that's rebuilding, that's you know, at the
bottom of the barrel. I don't know that he helps
in a rebuild situation. So you have that situation, right,
You also have a situation where he's clearly not going
anywhere to be a backup. Conversely, he's the type of
(15:47):
guy that you don't want to be a backup, you know.
It's like remember when Cam Newton it was like, well
he can't be a backup, and people would get offended.
It's like, what does that mean? He can't be a backup?
It's like Tim Tebow. You can't have the biggest personality,
the most well known personality in your building as a
backup quarterback. So I'm with you. The only spot that
even makes remote sense to me, assuming that there's not
(16:10):
crazy dominoes like a Matt Stafford trade, is the Raiders.
Because they need a quarterback. They're kind of out of
that range where they're gonna be able to draft one.
And obviously Pete Carroll and a Chip Kelly offensive coordinator
who is making six million dollars a year are not
going to just acquiesce the organization to Aaron Rodgers and
(16:31):
he would kind of have to fall in line. But
even that kind of feels like a stretch.
Speaker 2 (16:34):
So I and the reason why I like the Raiders
are twofold is I still think that they are employee
for a quarterback if you took Shudwar Sanders at six,
then great, but it doesn't mean that Shudiar Sanders has
to play right away. I also don't think that Pete
Carroll is into punting seasons fair and I think that
he would want to win right away. And if there's
anything that we have learned from Chip Kelly and what
(16:55):
he's done, you're gonna run the football, and you're probably
gonna run the football, and you're gonna try to keep
your offense on the field and limit plays and not
turn the ball over. And that's what Aaron Rodgers does, yes,
and so that like I think that for fit wise,
it works for the Raiders. But yeah, we're in lockstep here.
I just don't see I don't see a contender sliding in.
(17:17):
I think the Raiders would be the best fit if
he wanted to play again. But if we're going to
hold him to his word to what he told TMZ
after this training session, I don't know if the Raiders
are built to win. I don't know if they're a
good team that doesn't seem to fit the category. And
I'm just not willing to put him to the Rams
when I think that what the Rams are doing is
just trying to see what they could get for Matthew Stafford.
People put their houses on the markets just to see
(17:39):
what offers and if if one gets, you know, lows
them away, or if it's an all cash offer, fine,
make me move. Figure out a way to do it.
I feel that's what the Rams are doing with Matthew Stafford.
Speaker 6 (17:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (17:50):
Ironically, to me, I thought even going into the offseason
that the best logical spot was actually staying with the
Jets is that they do have talent. They're in that
number seven spot. I think I said the Raiders were
at seven before there. Obviously, as you said, at six,
they're in a spot where they're probably not going to
be able to draft a quarterback, and they have a
new coaching staff, and Aaron Glen can kind of hold
(18:11):
that over him, is that, hey, if you want to
come back here, it's going to be on my terms.
But that is obviously not happening.
Speaker 6 (18:16):
To me.
Speaker 1 (18:16):
That was always the spot that made the most sense.
And other than that, I don't think there's a great
fit to be perfectly all right.
Speaker 2 (18:23):
Let's get the car chase gate wrapped up here. Let's
go to our reporter who was on the scene. She's
now at the news desk Monte Belaanios with the latest.
What did you see? I definitely chase.
Speaker 7 (18:35):
I stayed inside in the lobby each I did not
go outside, by.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
The way I said, they were like fifty yard line
box seats.
Speaker 7 (18:41):
Yeah scenario, yes, yeah, so it's.
Speaker 3 (18:44):
Come to an end.
Speaker 7 (18:46):
For a second, I was a little bit uncomfortable. Uncomfortable
because the gentleman refused to kind of stand down. He
kept it looked like arguing back and forth, and at
one point it looked like he put his hand in
his pocket and he did grab something and it would
look like maybe some tailnol or advil. It looked like pills.
But he would not stand down, and he kept approaching
(19:06):
the officers and we all backed away from the window
because he would not stand down. And at one point
he stopped and they tackled him. So no one got
hurt and it's over. But he definitely put up a
weird fight, an uncomfortable fight. Everybody was like, just stop moving,
just get down, just stop, and he eventually got bear
(19:31):
hugged and taken down. Did you get any video or
a little bit, Yes, yes, everyone and their mom had
their video.
Speaker 3 (19:38):
Their phones out, and I was like, I just want
to watch.
Speaker 2 (19:42):
I tried to get a goosto to take a picture
of him, but he's like, no, no deal.
Speaker 1 (19:49):
Yeah, that was what I was afraid of. I was like,
it's cool that we're this close. I'm gonna snap my
little picture and get the heck out of here.
Speaker 3 (19:54):
Yes, oh totally. I got a little video.
Speaker 7 (19:56):
But then I went to the back and I just
was like, this is he's not star And he kept,
I said, inching closer to them and was like standing
in his ground and You're just like, dude, stop, please,
don't do this.
Speaker 3 (20:06):
And then he was.
Speaker 7 (20:07):
Fiddling with his pocket and he had like his hat
and he was like hiding his hat and then he
like showed that you had nothing in his hat.
Speaker 3 (20:13):
But it was like just stop, just stop.
Speaker 2 (20:16):
It's such a good life lesson because it's easy to
watch it on TV. Yeah, and you're seeing it actually
transpire with authorities, with guns being pulled and in position,
completely different feeling.
Speaker 1 (20:30):
And I think even on TV, you didn't get the
perspective of how close the police were. Yes, this car, Like.
Speaker 3 (20:36):
I'm telling they were talking to each other, that's how
close they were.
Speaker 1 (20:39):
Yep. Yeah, it was. It was a little uncomfortable. I
threw over.
Speaker 2 (20:42):
I threw up the picture, which does give the sense
if you can't even from the picture. I also threw
an alternate angle. We went out earlier in the break
and took it of the suspect. You can find it
at Dan Byer on Fox.

(21:31):
can find me at Dan Byer on Fox. You can
find Jason Stewart's at Jason Stewart. Last night. You also
could have found our executive producer out for sushi with
his girlfriend, having a wonderful time and bumping into stars.
Apparently at six six to one sushi. If we were
to that place name named the spot, that's right, it
(21:53):
was six six to one sushi, right.
Speaker 5 (21:54):
It is uh six six one area code of Santa Coarita, California.
So I'm eating sushi and this person like across the
restaurant looks familiar. I just can't place him. And it
takes me like fifteen minutes of it, just like staring
at this guy and telling Christina that face looks familiar.
I need to place it. And it's like one of
those things where I didn't want to leave until I
(22:16):
figured it out. So short of going up and asking
him who he is, it just hit me all of
a sudden. Former Major League baseball player JD. Drew was
eating dinner at the same sushi restaurant as me, so random,
and I googled it. I googled his family or I
googled him and there was a picture of his family
(22:36):
and like two of his family members are at the
same table, so it was confirmed. And then I went
down our JD. Drew rabbit hole. How much money did
he make over his career. He had brothers in the game,
So it was just like one of those things where
I ran into such a random celebrity encounter, somebody I
haven't even thought of. And at least what fifteen.
Speaker 2 (22:55):
Years, it's been a while. And when I think of JD. Drew,
it's funny you think of the teams that he played for.
Speaker 1 (23:02):
All of them.
Speaker 2 (23:04):
He just played for notable teams like I mean Cardinals,
Red Sox, bra.
Speaker 8 (23:09):
He won a World Series with the Red Sox. Yeah,
seven man and in the Dodgers. Yes, he isn't the
guy I thought. He played for like twelve different teams.
I don't know, know because I thinking of his brother
Steven Drew, who played for six teams now.
Speaker 2 (23:22):
But it is it is like on the verge of it,
teeters On, who is that I've seen. I don't know
if you guys have dealt this. I got another athlete
setting I'll tell you about in a bit. But when
you've seen commercial celebrities, I see that around, especially actually
up in Santa Clarita. Jason and I live in the
same area, because if you're a real celebrity, you're probably
(23:45):
living in Beverly Hills or somewhere up in the Hollywood Hills.
But if you're getting nice acting work, you know it's
a beautiful spot to live. And so they'll be like,
there's a guy who used to do the when Washington Mutual.
You wouldn't know him eat like you would know who
he is. I have seen him at the local barbecue spot,
Wood Ranch at least three times, and just just we
(24:09):
go there a lot. It's great. But I would see
him and I'm like, oh, he's a resident, he lives
up here, but you would know him from commercials. That
happens maybe more often than going out and seeing Tom
Hanks at a coffee spot like It's It's much cooler
and more random when you see scenarios like that. Do
you have any celebrity settings, pseudo celebrity settings.
Speaker 1 (24:30):
There's one that may work here sometimes, but before he
worked here, I didn't I knew he played in the NBA.
Speaker 2 (24:38):
Hmmm.
Speaker 1 (24:39):
I'll just say it. I saw Ryan Hollinds out one
time and I was like, I know that guy. And
now I actually know Ryan Hollins and he's a very
nice guy. I've said, yes, did he stand out at all?
Just for any reason? Whatsoever. Being a legitimate seven foot
was kind of a dead giveaway of like, yeah, I
should know that guy from somewhere, but I knew he
was a player from the face. And then when he
stood up. Ryan Hollands, by the there's some guys that
(25:00):
are listed as like, you know, six eight sixty nine,
and you're like, oh, he's pretty tall. Ryan Hollands is
a very tall individual. When you're standing in.
Speaker 2 (25:07):
A room with him, huge seven foot, you'd see it.
When he came in, Monzi took a picture of him
and he went up to his about like mid section.
Speaker 7 (25:17):
Yeah, and I was tiptoeing like an idiot, like that
was gonna make a difference.
Speaker 3 (25:21):
Not naturally you.
Speaker 2 (25:22):
Rub any elbows with celebs in your circles, Manzi, that
you can remember.
Speaker 3 (25:27):
I mean like a lot of commercial actors. I know
a lot of commercial actors.
Speaker 1 (25:32):
You are one, I am, I am one.
Speaker 7 (25:34):
But at Universal Studios, the tour guides, many of them
are commercial actors.
Speaker 3 (25:39):
In fact, do you know that commercial I think it's progressive.
Speaker 7 (25:42):
The guy that is like helping people not become their parents,
he has like a mustache.
Speaker 1 (25:47):
He's a tour guide.
Speaker 7 (25:48):
He's a he's a tour guide and doesn't have a
real mustache, but he's like a tour guide.
Speaker 2 (25:53):
My friend Natalie, by the way, he does a great job.
Speaker 1 (25:55):
That he does.
Speaker 7 (25:56):
But there's like a lot of my friend Natalie. She
is on a bunch of shows. She's on Law and
Order Organized Crime with Christopher Maloney. This season she gets killed.
She's a drug old knife.
Speaker 3 (26:05):
Yeah, like yeah, spoiler, Okay, do you watch the show?
Speaker 1 (26:09):
Okay, then people never get killed on Law and.
Speaker 3 (26:13):
Organ Right, that's a that's a that's the thing. But
you know, yeah, so I because of that.
Speaker 7 (26:18):
World that I was part of, I know a lot
of commercial I don't even know if I got the team.
Speaker 2 (26:21):
Was it Lauren Order?
Speaker 1 (26:22):
What organized crime?
Speaker 2 (26:23):
Organized crime? I just called the crime scene. Hey, come
follow twenty seven it's one something. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (26:29):
I had the opposite situation where my buddy and I
used to go to this Buffalo Wow Wings all the time,
and this girl was like she was a waitress there,
and it's like, oh, I'm like an actress whatever, blah
blah blah, and my buddy took her number and it's like, oh, yeah,
we should hang out sometimes and then he never Then
he never like followed up she's on some Netflix show.
Now I'm not going to give her name, but she
(26:50):
has like close to a million followers on Instagram. Right, wow,
So it's yeah, he fubbled the bags huge. So I
had the opposite of we're was nobody anyway?
Speaker 2 (27:00):
Go ahead? No?
Speaker 5 (27:01):
Not.
Speaker 2 (27:01):
Not only are we the hobed of of car chases
stopping outside of our building, we are also at a
nexus of celebrities at times. And you know our liquor
store that's just at the next tuck. Scott Bayo was
behind me in line.
Speaker 1 (27:18):
I believe that.
Speaker 4 (27:18):
Yeah, can I give him a plug? Not the liquor store,
let's call it the liquor store.
Speaker 2 (27:24):
Well, go ahead, Winds of the World, Winds of the World.
Speaker 1 (27:27):
Scott your Scott Bayo, it was behind you at Winds
of the World.
Speaker 2 (27:30):
He was he was buying something for his UH, for
his his partner in line, and so it was very interesting.
It's one of my favorite stories. My other favorite story.
I've told this, and Jason, I apologize if you have
heard it, or any of you guys have heard this.
But I went when at one o'clock to Whole Foods
one day for lunch and saw Alex Rodriguez. Nice, what, yes,
(27:55):
But I'm like, the Yankees aren't playing the Dodgers. Yankee
aren't playing the Angels. They were playing the A's. That night,
It's one o'clock in the afternoon, seven oh five, first
pitch in Oakland. A Rod is shopping in Los Angeles.
So I run back to the studio and I say,
(28:18):
if you guys bet, I don't know how you could bet.
And this is this is years ago, obviously, So I
just saw a Rod at the Whole Foods six hours
before first pitch in Oakland. He's there's no way he's
going to do anything like that's if you bet, and
go ahead and do that. He homered in his first
at bat, and they walked him the next three times.
(28:39):
He went one for one with three walks. Played in
Oakland that night, probably hopped on a jet from Van Nuys,
flew up there, landed in Oakland where the airport's right
by the stadium, went there boom.
Speaker 7 (28:51):
I legit thought when you were telling the story, was
like post retirement.
Speaker 2 (28:54):
No no playing for the eighties, What was so crazy
striking about it? And I didn't know the Yankee schedule,
So like I came back and I'm like, that's why
I said. I'm like, they're not playing the Dodgers, and
I don't think they're playing the Angels, So where are
they playing? And they were in Oakland that night and
six hours before first pitch, he was shopping at old Foods.
You know what.
Speaker 1 (29:14):
Another good one for me was it wasn't in La
but it was in Vegas. It was probably about eighteen
months ago. I was during the summertime, but it was
me and my buddy were you know, we were there
for a bachelor party whatever. While walking around, see a
guy walk through the freaking casino and we're like, god,
that guy looks familiar. My buddy's a huge Giants fan,
New York Giants, and he's like, dude, I that guy
(29:34):
played for the Giants. Who was it? It was Antonio Pierce,
like six months before he became the Vegas Raiders head coach.
So it was like you would have never known him.
And then he was the most famous part in your
in that spot there in Jason spot there. If you
approached them, if you said big baseball fan, you know
you had a great career, I think that would be
(29:55):
I think they would appreciate that, sure, because not.
Speaker 2 (29:58):
Everybody in that place. You may have been the only
one Jason to know that that was JD. Drew. Oh,
no doubt, you know.
Speaker 5 (30:03):
And on the way out, I thought to myself, I
do want to just say his name on the way
and like wink at him, like don't. I'm not a
guy that's gonna walk up to and ask to take
a picture or even make a scene.
Speaker 2 (30:13):
I just wanted to let him know that I knew
who he was.
Speaker 1 (30:16):
Yeah, hey, JD.
Speaker 2 (30:18):
Well he's got Jason also has the end because of
his history in the business, Like I've actually seen you
you do that before with people where you could go
up to him, you could just say, hey, a baseball fan,
you know he played hard. And then if he ever
like Volley's back for serve, you can be like, oh,
I've been you know, radio producer with you know, booked athletes,
and then it's it's but he can. He's able to
(30:39):
do that. And I don't think it would be out
of the you know, would be out of pocket for
you to be like, appreciate you playing, you know, you're
a fun player to watch or something like that.
Speaker 4 (30:49):
Iowa sam credit to Jason Stewart because I never would
have recognized jd Drew out of like any any lineup anywhere.
That's a random player. And for Jason to be like,
I know who that is, or like I recognize as
that person is very, very impressive. I've got six quick
names to go through. I can beat rattle them off
real quick.
Speaker 1 (31:08):
How about you hit the top two.
Speaker 4 (31:10):
I gotta I gotta hit all these, Okay. I saw
Tay Diggs at that same Whole Foods in line. I
saw Jessica Simpson at the Blue Dog, which is right
next to the Hope for really like a beer pub.
Speaker 2 (31:21):
She was strike me as a Blue Dog kind of guy.
Speaker 4 (31:23):
I think this was before she got like sober and
lost a lot of weight. She looks fantastic. I think
she was still kind of partying and stuff. She was
with her entourage of ladies, but they came in and
everyone was like, oh hello. For people who don't know,
the Blue Dog is not the kind of place that
a Hollywood sit I know hang out, but it's exactly.
Speaker 1 (31:41):
I mean, I like it small. It's small.
Speaker 4 (31:43):
I think they went there and probably to kind of
get out of the public eye. I saw Mark Sanchez
on a flight back to La right before the Penn
State USC Rose Bowl with Sam Darnold, remember the twenty
seventeen Rose Bowl. He was in coach with me amongst
the unwashed. I saw Diana Tarassi at a terminal in Dallas,
and nobody recognized her. I made eye contact everyone for
(32:05):
that and I looked at and I just she smiled
at me, and I'm like, I know who you are,
but she was.
Speaker 2 (32:10):
She was completely so it was mutual respect between and
I was.
Speaker 4 (32:12):
Like, hey, they're Diana, and she's like, hello, there Iowa
sam uh. And then quickly I saw lamar Odom going
through security at an airport on my coming back somewhere
in my recent trip to Iowa in December.
Speaker 1 (32:23):
And then I saw Chris Bosh at the Bungalow in
Santa Monica, So there you go. Do I have time
for one more? Because you guys especially.
Speaker 2 (32:29):
Why he just took up a two minutes and then
and used the best one first, Like I thought you
were going to build up to it, but no, it
was Sanchez. I actually stopped listening so we could see
him every week.
Speaker 1 (32:43):
Jase dud I was at the Hollywood Burbank Airport about
four years ago. It was a six It was like
a six am flight, nobody's in this place, and guy
walks by me and I was like, that can't be
who I think it is. It cannot be his wife
is with his kids. It was Clayton Kershaw flying to
Oklahoma for a rehab assignment. And I'm like, how is
(33:04):
Clayton Kershaw in the Burbank airport at six And nobody
recognized him either. It was the creepiest thing because like,
I wanted to be the creep and take a picture.
I may have one on my phone because I was like,
he's the star. This was like before they had MOOKI
and all these guys and show Hey, he was the
face of the organization and nobody recognized him. The Diana
(33:24):
Torazi point made me remember that, and he was definitely
a one through fifteen.

Stewart as well Iowa Sam hanging out for Copino and
(34:35):
rich on this Friday Live from the tierraq dot com studios.
Earlier in the show or earlier in the day, we
were in for Doug Gottlieby and we talked about the
expanding world of college football where we will likely see changes,
and it's the same with college basketball in possibly seeing changes.
Pete Thamiloud reported last weekend that if the tournament field
(34:56):
was to expand from sixty eight, that it would go
to seventy six, that seventy two wouldn't be the number
that they would expand it by eight more schools, And
like reading the college football responses, I feel a lot
of people just immediately had a knee jerk reaction and say,
if it ain't broke, don't fix it and just keep
(35:19):
it as it is. Just keep it at sixty eight?
Is that fair? Am I saying that? I think that's
a majority of what college basketball, or at least fans
of the sport on the tournament are six.
Speaker 1 (35:30):
So I think that is actually probably the most important
point against expansion. Like college football, you can like it,
you cannot like it, but you can make the argument, oh,
you know, if Alabama had gotten in, would they have
done some damage? And Ole Miss was pretty good? Jackson
Dart might end up being a first round pick. There
is no reason to expand the play the tournament NCAA
tournament for two reasons. Besides the fact that are we
(35:52):
really leaving out good teams? And we'll discuss that in
a minute. But the other thing is it's perfect the
way it is. Why why do we have to mess
with perfect? Everybody loves it, Everybody knows that First Thursday,
I'm gonna get together with my buddies. I'm gonna go
to Buffalo woah wing'. I'm gonna go to the casino.
I'm gonna do this. I'm gonna do that. That's the
part is there are things in sports that maybe you
(36:13):
don't want to, you don't want to see change, but
you know have to. There's no reason to change this
other than pure money.
Speaker 2 (36:20):
Some people just can't help themselves. Yes, they need they
have a great running car. I need a new car exactly.
I need to change up this room. Our living room
is super comfortable. Guess what I need to change it.
I'm gonna get uncomfortable furniture and new colors because I
just can't help myself. I get that. I don't think
that is the NC DOUBLEA in any way for them
(36:40):
to wanting to expand their tournament. But I also think
when we look at the field of sixty eight, I
think if you ask those same people who want to
keep it as it is, if you said to those people,
do you want to go back to sixty four, they
would say, yes, absolutely, let's go back to sixty four.
That's how it was. I don't think that there's a
(37:01):
lot of value and interest put into the first four
games in Dayton and definitely compared to the rest of
the tournament. But I don't think people are really caring
about those first four games for the simple fact, Aaron,
it doesn't affect the bracket that they filled out. If
you're if you're trying to pick between the matchup of
(37:24):
Boise State and Minnesota in that playing game, just use
two random schools. Minnesota's got a lot of work to do,
although they've been playing better basketball lately swept. But if
you were to pick between those schools, you know what
you're doing. Any your bracket, you're writing BSU slash MN,
like the winner of that game is going to then
(37:45):
beat whoever the sixth get is. You're not saying I'm
not gonna pick Xavier because they're playing Minnesota, but I
will pick Xavier because they're playing But nobody does that.
Nobody when they're filling out a bracket that's six eleven
play in window doesn't matter, And it definitely doesn't matter
because nobody's really picking the sixteen seed to upset of one.
(38:07):
And so, first of all, those first four games don't
matter in the bracket. So why would adding more of
those make people so mad? Because if that's what they
care about, it shouldn't matter anyway. All you're doing is
writing in more blank slash blank teams Virginia slash Vanderbilt.
(38:30):
That's who you're writing that in that bracket. If you
were to expand it by seventy expand it to seventy sixteams,
because you're taking more at large teams and having them
essentially aaron playing their way into the tournament, which is
how we really look at the first four. We look
at those teams playing themselves into the tournament. And so
that's why I don't understand why people get mad. And
(38:51):
if you don't care about it, now, why would you
care if they were adding to it if you didn't
care in the first place. That's my whole point in
expansion is it's really not going to hurt you as
much as you think it is, because everything that you
do with the bracket and filling it out in your office,
bulls and contests really doesn't change except having a few
more games on Tuesday and Wednesday of tournament week.
Speaker 1 (39:12):
Well, I think the real and I think the reason
that people are against it is kind of what you're
saying from the perspective that I think they think it
completely changes the structure of what that week looks like
for them, when in reality, all you're doing is adding
two games Tuesday, two games Wednesday to the two games
that are already there, the two games that are aready
(39:32):
there Wednesday. What I would also say, though, Dan and
I do think there's something to this. I think sports
fans are starting to get wise to Hey, a lot
of these decisions are only being made for money, and
it does not benefit me in any way, shape or form.
So I have this thing that's perfect, and we're debating
(39:54):
about teams seventy one, seventy two, seventy three that kind
of stinks, and we're not going to get to in
the weeds. North Carolina right now is sixteen and eleven.
They're one in ten and their eleven biggest games we
call them Quad one games of college basketball. Nobody who
watches them is like, oh, I will be personally offended
if they're left out, and then on top of that,
(40:15):
I'll take it a step further. I think no, most
North Carolina fans are like, I hate watching this team.
I want the season to be done. What are we
gonna do to get it right next year? And so
it's not as though there's really an argument that any
of these teams actually deserve to be in. You're then
disrupting something that we all love. Now, I do think again,
I don't think people really understand how little it will
(40:36):
actually impact the bracket. But the third thing, and I
really do think this is something I think sports fans
are like, so, you're just gonna expand this, So some
dude that I don't know that works at CBS gets
an extra zero on his check, or some you know,
conference commissioner, you know, like even like like like I
don't think like Kentucky fans are like, well, I mean
(40:59):
it's it's it's actually kind of good for us if
the SEC gets two extra teams in because we get
that much more money. It's like, no, we watch Vandy,
they kind of stink. We watch Georgia, they kind of stink.
They shouldn't be in the tournament. So I think the
part of a bunch of old dudes in suits getting
more money with no benefit to the consumer, I do
think that is actually a factor in some of this.
Speaker 2 (41:21):
I don't disagree with that, and I look at your
North Carolina point and the season is so bad they
just want it over. So why why expand why extend it?
It likely would be extended a week at Yeah, a
game at that you get ousted on Wednesday of the
ACC tournament. You gotta wait till Sunday, play on Tuesday.
(41:42):
It's a week week of your time of being around
each other. But I get it. They don't want to
They just want to end it. But if you continue
and it goes on a run, then things can get exciting.
Can I jump in on one thing real quick before
you do?
Speaker 1 (41:53):
You want to go?
Speaker 2 (41:54):
You want to go?
Speaker 1 (41:54):
You want to go on?
Speaker 2 (41:55):
I just I have a point to make about the
teams and the schools that I was mentioning. I mentioned Virginia,
I mentioned Vanderbilt, I mentioned Minnesota. But I also mentioned
Boise State, the school that I actually want to put
in because I think this enhances the argument for seventy
six is, let's take last year's Indiana State team. I
(42:16):
don't know the bubble teams that were left out last year.
I can't remember, except Indiana State and Indiana State went
on the run with Creem Abdul Jabbar's now at Saint
Louis because that staff also went to Saint Louis as well.
So Sycamores are not the same sycamores this year as
they were last year. But last year, would you rather
(42:38):
have gone on that run in the NIT or would
you rather have watched that Indiana State team lost in
the NVC final to Drake get one of those additional
eight spots. So it's not necessarily going to all Power
conference teams. You would have the ability to have a
Cinderella and say, all right, Indiana State here, that's your opportunity.
(43:01):
This is your chance to do it and actually adds
value to a Tuesday night or a Wednesday night. And
sometimes we've had those games. Sometimes we've had the top
of the top UCLA, you know, like like brand Wise
playing in that in that first four. So you're watching that,
maybe you're watching a Cinderella. But if you were to
add that and expand that, I think it's more so
for an Indiana State team who had a magnificent year
(43:24):
but loses in their conference championship game and doesn't get
the automatic bid, I think there are now more spots
for that school, as opposed to say letting in an
unworthy North Carolina team.
Speaker 1 (43:34):
So that would be the number that should be the
number one selling point. I think if you were saying,
we're gonna go to seventy six and one of two
things happens. One, every automatic qualifier gets into the main field.
So in other words, we have the two sixteen you know,
the four to sixteen teams that play those those those days.
But also if you said a certain and I know
(43:55):
this gets into the college football automatic whatever, But basically
we're adding eight teams and four of them are going
to be from the nonpower conferences, then I think that's
where you could get away with this a little bit.
The problem is, again, fans aren't stupid. If you're a
Kentucky fan or an Auburn fan and you've watched Oklahoma
all year, who's squarely on the bubble. They're three and
(44:16):
ten in the league play, they're they're the first team
out right now of the bracket. According to Joe Lenardi
at ESPN, they're currently sixteen and ten, three and ten
in the SEC. And it's like if you were subbing
that team out for say, let's use the example that's
kind of picking up steam here, like you see San
Diego right now, is twenty three and four, thirteen and
(44:39):
two in their league. If you see San Diego does
not win their conference tournament, they are probably not getting in.
If those were the types of teams that you said, Okay,
let's give them, there's a couple extra spots. Let's make
sure those type teams get in. That's fine, But it's
going to be the seventeen and fifteen Georgia team, the
seventeen and thirteen you know whatever. I'm just using hypothet numbers,
(45:00):
the nineteen and fifteen Vanderbilt team, the nineteen and fifteen
Minnesota team, and it's like, we don't want to see that.
I'll just be quick and I'll toss it back to you.
This is what I say all the time when a
Michigan or somebody like that makes a Sweet sixteen. Like
I remember a few years ago, Michigan was an eleven
seed and made.
Speaker 2 (45:19):
The Sweet sixteen.
Speaker 1 (45:21):
Nobody remembers Michigan making the sweet seed. Oh, it was
this incredible run. Little old Michigan made it as an
eleven seed. But when a George Mason, a Weber State
of whoever, when those teams win a game or two,
that's when it gets really cool, and so yes, I
think if there and I know there's no way to
guarantee it, but I think if if the benefit of
(45:41):
the doubt was being given to the small school that
doesn't have a ton of opportunities to play big games
on this stage, that'd be fine. The issue becomes that
that is not what's going to happen, do you know what?
Speaker 2 (45:51):
But I'm fine. I'm fine with that up until your
last sentence, because that's when I read this stuff or
when I see people respond it to it and say
I don't want it, I don't want it. Well, you're
not taking in the big picture here. How can you
make it in a way that it works for you?
And I think that there are ways to do it.
I do also think that the committee would get that
(46:13):
sense of we do need to put these schools in.
We do need to put a group of five or
mid majors in instead of schools from the power of
the power conferences, because we've heard it from Mountain West
days right like there was an over correction. There were
times in the Mountain West wasn't getting anybody in. Now
(46:35):
all of a sudden, Hey, everybody New Mexico, Utah State,
Boise State College, like everybody, let's everybody get in San
Diego State. Obviously, great run to the final four in
the National Championship Game a couple of years ago, but
there was an overcorrection because you heard people chirping over
the last few years, why aren't more schools from this league?
So they do listen and they do hear that stuff,
(46:56):
and if they hear that message, it allows for it.
The question that I think is interesting when we talk
about let's use that Indiana State team as an example here. Now,
the NIT is completely changing, postseason basketball is completely changing.
Fox is putting on their own tournament with Power five
leagues and postseason tournament outside of the NCAA tournament. So
that NIT run that you have probably not the same
(47:20):
because the NIT bracket isn't the same. It's not the
same bracket. But if you were Indiana State, would you
have traded that run to the NIT championship game to
play in a first four game in Dayton, not knowing
if you were to win or lose? Of course, I
think so as well, and I think most people would
say that. I think most people that played at Indiana
State would just have wanted the opportunity, so that then
(47:41):
tells me, all right, then it's worth it. Then let's
expand it. Because the flip side of well, maybe if
we didn't deserve it, we could still go on a run.
Nobody really thinks like that. They want to be in
the tournament. And if you put those sort of schools
in Aaron, I actually think it makes those first two
days worthy of tournament to the point where again we
(48:01):
aren't looking at it as real games. We can look
at them as playing games, and maybe that's how we
look at them now. But I think it would legitimize
it more and it wouldn't affect us from getting our
bracket pools into the office by Thursday morning when the
first round starts. None of that would be affected, and
I think that's the thing that most people are worried about.
But there are actually positives coming from this. If you
(48:24):
were to expand it to seventy six, you'd get more
days of basketball. They were going to add a site.
Was what Pete Damil reported, is you would have a
separate site outside of Dayton that would host games as well,
which would be easier to feed to different regions. So
it's more logical of travel wise. All of that actually
even makes more sense to actually help the bracket and
help these teams. It's not as awful of a deal
(48:48):
as you think it is. People again just hate change,
and if it was an ideal world, we'd go back
to sixty four. But again that's not going to happen.
So let's look at the positives at seventy six.
Speaker 1 (48:57):
Give you Yeah, I agree with pretty much everything he said,
and I do think that. It's just I think the
other thing too, which is a completely different conversation for
a completely different day, is that and we're seeing this
with college football playoff? Is that is that if we
(49:17):
knew they were gonna stop. Like my whole thing is
I just know this stuff too well, and I know
you know it just as well as I do, Dan,
But they're not gonna stop at seventy six. And in
ten years or eight years, it's gonna be well, you know,
I mean, seventy six really feels outdated. What about you know,
we gotta get to this, We gotta get to that.
And it's like, you know, at some point it gets diluted.
(49:38):
And the other thing too, And I you know, I
don't think this is this would change, but like it's
hard enough to get people invested in the college basketball
regular season. And now if you're basically saying if you
finish above five hundred in a power conference, you're getting in.
It's like, I don't know, man I just think I
think the broad thing about this. And again, I think
(49:59):
it's different from college football. I don't think anybody thinks
that the college football playoff system is perfect. Now, I
think everybody thinks this is pretty close to perfect. And
the only reason you're expanding is for money. Now there's
a difference between we can accept it because it's inevitable
and is this actually something that is going to benefit
(50:22):
the consumer benefit the players involved. Now you could argue
the players involves is different, but is it going to
benefit the consumer? And I don't think that it is.
Speaker 2 (50:28):
In the consumer and the consumer that I truly feel
what the part that is most important to them. Aaron
and I think Jason Stewart would agree on this, and
I think Iowa Sam would agree, and I think Manzi
would agree as well. Is just don't mess with the
first weekend because honestly, for the excitement that is the
(50:50):
first weekend, for what it's like around your office, I mean,
this is we work in a really cool place at
Fox Sports Radio, where we're sitting here and we're looking
at four TVs, all all with sports except the one
that had the car chase on that we haven't changed back,
but by and large, normally twenty four hours a day
there's some sort of sports. You get paid to talk
about sports, You get paid to watch sports, you get
(51:11):
paid to edit about sports, you get paid to find
the topics about sports that you want to talk about.
All of that is awesome. There is no better day
in this hallway than Thursday of the NCAA tournament, just
because everybody is invest everybody's got their bracket pools, which
I would expect is the same way at any other
office basically around the country where people are interested in
(51:32):
games are going on. That's the part that it can't
mess with. Ninety six expanding to that point would do that,
That would mean it would mess with it. It would
It would The college Football Playoff and how they set
it up again. They had four top brands in their
semi final and had two mega brands, two of the biggest,
maybe if not the biggest, in all of college football,
(51:52):
playing in their national championship game in Ohio, State and
Notre Dame. It's more important for basketball protect that first
weekend than anything else. And so that is why I
would think that there would be some trepidation, because it
isn't about finding the true champion, because it's more of
a crapshoot than anything else. Considering what they're making teams do,
(52:13):
which makes you kind of going back to back even
more impressive. It's all about not what's better for the
bracket as a whole, but what you would have to
do for that first weekend. I get it, I get
it looking ahead. If you go this, then what's next.
But I would hope that the powers that be would
be smart to realize that it just can't mess with
that first weekend of the NCAA tournament.
Speaker 1 (52:31):
And that's what I'll put a bow on, is the
idea that for me, I just that's what I worry about. Well,
you expand a seventy six, Well how soon is seventy
six not enough? And then all of a sudden, to
your point that the first Thursday to sat, first Thursday
to Sunday is as good as any stretch on the
sports calendar. We all agree on it. People plan their
years around it. They book, this, this far out, that
(52:54):
far out, et cetera. And that is what I ultimately
worry about, is we're going to keep expanding, and then
all of a sudden, there's so many games on Tuesday,
so many games on Wednesday, we can't even keep track.
That Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday loses some of its.
Speaker 2 (53:06):
It is funny, and the exciteming you get from the
first weekend, then then you don't have it for a
couple of days, so you're like, man, I'm missing the tournament.
So then Thursday comes around and you have the double header,
the stagger double header, which gives it your phil Thursday
then gives you your fill on Friday, and then there's
Saturday and you kind of feel empty because there's not
games going on at the same time. It's the worst,
(53:27):
but those games are for the trip to the final four, sure,
and then so there is something to play for them,
and if your bracket's still alive, you're really into it.
The point that I'm trying to make is the National
Championship game is probably the least climatic, there's the most
anti climatic of any part of the tournament, because even
the final four weekend, and we've talked about this, Saturday
(53:48):
is so much better than Monday, even though Monday you
crown a national champion.
Speaker 1 (53:51):
I will tell you there are no two worst feelings
in the world than the Saturday. You wake up and
they have the standalone game at noon Eastern and you're like,
I can't I have add I can't switch to another
game right now. And then to your point, the Saturday
the following week to go to the final four, and
you wake up and there's just nothing on it all
(54:12):
until like six Eastern times, and that.
Speaker 2 (54:14):
Sunday is weird as well. It's weird to not see
a score of another game going on on top of
your screen on that regional final Saturday. He's erin Torres.
I'm Dan byer In for Cavino and Rich here on
Fox Sports Radio.
