rock the stats the stats. Download the podcast. Danny g
oh Man, I read about that little beef this morning.
(01:37):
I was less of a Topanga guy. I was more
of a Kelly Kapowski guy. I was more of a
you would Morris. I was more of a Samantha MASSELLI
kind of guy, Angela Mona Jonathan Samanid. I was more
of a Samantha.
Speaker 4 (01:52):
By the way, those girls and some guys that do podcasts, now,
what would they do with their lives right now if
there was not a platform like podcasting.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
You know, they all some of them do well on
podcast about the show they were.
Speaker 5 (02:07):
Wat's what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
Yeah, I know, like I know that. I mean the office. Yea,
he makes a ton of money in resilt the scenes,
thirty year old show. But I think about all the
great podcasts we missed out on as a result, like
Kirk Cameron's and Gary Coleman's, Like I would have loved podcast.
Speaker 5 (02:23):
That's a great point.
Speaker 4 (02:24):
You know what would have been the juiciest podcast in
the eighties or nineties.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
I would love to hear Philip Drummonds podcast, Arnold and
Willis or Webster's podcast.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
Man, I love that. You know what's a good one
we missed? I bet you they would have been a
good like Saved by the Bell podcast, re Running Roger
had a podcast that had been cool.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
Man, everyone's got a podcast, you know, the in the
Sopranos Heyday, like a weekly recap. There's a Sopranos one
now like looking Back.
Speaker 6 (02:52):
The Kids, Yeah, Jamie Lin Sigler and they have the
whatever his name is, Robert Siler.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
Yeah, they actually get a lot of props.
Speaker 5 (03:00):
They do great.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
They have a great chemistry together for sure. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
So podcasts are like opinions, everybody has one and must stink.
Speaker 5 (03:08):
Do you think Archie Bunkers podcasts would have been racist?
Speaker 4 (03:10):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (03:10):
Absolutely definitely uncensored.
Speaker 5 (03:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (03:12):

and Rich and Danny g puts the best of every
day and there's the best of the week if you
want to just check it out. So thank you guys
again for being here. Lots of fun this hour. Shack
Diesel Whack Diesel trivia to get you all fired up
for Lakers MAVs tonight. Well, my analogy stars when it
(03:37):
comes to Luca and the Lakers stars stars in any
relationship or job when someone insinuates you have a deficiency
and that's why they cut things off. I guess said, dating, job,
any situation if you ever the opportunity to prove them
(03:59):
wrong or throw it in their face.
Speaker 3 (04:01):
Luca right now was pretty much told dude, you're a.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
Little soft and lazy and we don't think you got
the long term ability to stay in shape. Essentially, I mean,
there's no question that's exactly what happened. That's why they
got rid of him. That would be like some girl
who had a dirt bag boyfriend that was like, yeah,
you chubby, and then she comes back with a rocking
bod and was like look at me now on like
(04:25):
Jenny Jones or something.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
Luca's gonna I what is the over runder.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
Let me look this up because I feel like there's
a bet to be had. I bet going from zero
to hero. I bet you on DraftKings. It's got to
be thirty something, right. You're gonna see the most motivated
Luca ever. As con you said you had a Colin
Lake analogy. Yeah, he did say something along the lines of,
you're gonna see officially why this is the most awful
trade ever. You see how awful this trade actually was.
(04:52):
When he lights him up tonight and we were talking
about bringing your best and being great, he's gonna remind
everybody that he's one of the greats and he's gonna
put on a show tonight. Oh Dan, And believe you me.
When we do things like radio row at Super Bowl,
a lot of our former employers are there. You don't
think that motivates Rich and I to be like, yo,
(05:14):
let's bring our best and show them what they're missing.
It's always great. Motor failure is a great motivator. The
breakups are a great motivator. How many times do you
get dumped by a girl? You're at the gym and
in your mind, at the back of your mind, you're
like you know, wait until they see me with the
next hotty and my rocking bot. If you don't think
that's what Luca is sort of feeling a little bit,
so you're crazy. Of course he is, like you just said,
(05:36):
every time if you say rich, when have you been
in the best shape?
Speaker 3 (05:39):
When have you been the most motivated? But probably after
some girl told me I stunk?
Speaker 1 (05:43):
Yeah, when are you really trying to get that promotion
or get ahead when you got dumped and dissed because
you know she left you for a guy with deeper
pockets that motivated you. So you're gonna see that Luca's
human and he's just gonna want to show he's not
pouting about He's going to show you tonight. Well, other
people have my idea. So the over unders pretty steep
(06:07):
thirty one and a half over under Luca points and now
what do you think? Yeah, we guessed thirty because I
mean like going over say, he'll light.
Speaker 5 (06:16):
It up late drop Saturday thirty four.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
And by the way, everyone's going to be feeding him
the ball so that he can light it up. You know,
I just think that it's going to be his night.
For obvious reasons. MAVs big men are out like they're
just destined to be destroyed tonight and and their fans
are going to be so sad about it.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
Oh man, let me, let me, let me pull a
couple of things here.
Speaker 5 (06:38):
Two, he dropped thirty two on Saturday, so.
Speaker 1 (06:40):
Lucas averaging twenty eight, so it's not substantially more than
his season average, but twenty eight thirty one and a
half could he drop thirty two? And the Lakers are
favored by almost double digits, Lakers by nine, So.
Speaker 3 (06:52):
It's it's the pettiest thought, but it's so true. Do
you go, Lakers?
Speaker 1 (06:55):
Lakers win by double digits, Luca over thirty one like
a parla going to dominate them and again. And I
think he's going to show them every reason why they
should regret making that move. Like I said, it's it's
a silly, petty motivation.
Speaker 3 (07:09):
He's hit it. He's like Julie Roberts in a Pretty Woman.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
Yeah, but when when you got dumped or huge, if
you've ever been dumped, there's a sense of satisfaction if
you're able to make them feel in any way possible
that they made a bad move and they regret it.
Speaker 3 (07:28):
And that's what he's gonna do tonight? What's up?
Speaker 2 (07:30):
dB?
Speaker 6 (07:31):
Here's my question, who truly has the motivation tonight? Is
it Luca against his former team or is it the
Mavericks team as a whole that has been told that
they are significantly worse without Luka Doncic and no Anthony
Davis ah and who knows more about Luka Doncic than
the Dallas Mavericks.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
The quote coming to America, it's a good one.
Speaker 3 (07:55):
Shocked off.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
Dan Biden makes a great point because we talked about
this at the Super Bowl and we were trying to
said who's.
Speaker 3 (08:02):
Got more motivation for the three pete or for Jalen
Hurts to get there?
Speaker 1 (08:06):
And we made the argument that how could you judge
like everyone's going to be motivated if you don't think
the Dallas Mavericks locker room is like, yeah, let's shut
everyone up.
Speaker 6 (08:13):
Sure, and it may maybe their time comes when the
game's in Dallas, But I also think, like when that
game plays, like I'm almost thinking that Luca would have
the motivation when they go to Dallas just to have
his homecoming and have the fans on his side. Very interesting,
and I think that the betting lines make it so
interesting tonight. I just said under earlier today, So that's
(08:33):
that was from where I came from. I think both
sides of the coin can be seen here. But I
think that Dallas will at least be motivated. They also
got blown up by the Warriors on Sunday, so it
hasn't been a great time for them. That maybe tonight
they for some reason just end up bringing.
Speaker 3 (08:49):
What the truth is.
Speaker 1 (08:50):
We don't know until it happens, and that's the beauty
of sports. That's why it makes it so exciting to
watch and see. You know, for all we know, Dan
Byer could be completely right. We come back tomorrow, Yo, man,
I can't believe that.
Speaker 3 (09:02):
Yeah, where was Luca last night?
Speaker 4 (09:04):
It would only surprise me because there was only one
guy in that whole deal that was called fat Yeah right,
and Cavino. When this first happened, you said, oh my god,
if that happened to me, I'd be on the treadmill
that night.
Speaker 1 (09:16):
Dude, I was let go by my previous job. Every
time I cracked the mic here, I want to remind
them that they made a mistake. Every girl that broke
up with me. Every day I use that as motivation
as man, Wait, till I make my millions. I can't
wait to post a picture of myself on a yacht
and hope they regret it. A Yeah, Like in the
(09:37):
back of my mind, it's petty motivation. He has that.
He has that so and that's why you're seeing him
so fired up. You're seeing a fired up Luca. You've
seen the Lakers play great defense. All of a sudden,
you're seeing them win. They're playing good ball. And that
brings us to something else too that we haven't had
time for in the past few days. Rich Before we
do Scheck Diesel trivia, Wembin Yama made a statement about
(10:00):
out well. He was asked, like, who's the most underrated
player in the NBA? By the way, I got a
plus two point fifty bet here, guy, just throw it
at you. Sure, plus two to fifty bet one hundred,
win two fifty. I got Luca thirty two points or more,
Lakers minus eight and a half in the game, and
Lakers win the first half. So Lakers win the first half,
(10:20):
Lakers win the game by eight and a half or more,
by nine, and Luca thirty two plus.
Speaker 3 (10:27):
You like that one? You bet?
Speaker 1 (10:29):
It makes it fun? Yeah, for sure, let's let's look.
I think I think he's enlighted up tonight. But again,
what Dan Byer said could very well be a possibility,
and that's what makes it fun to watch. So wembin
Yama was asked who was the most underrated player in
the NBA, and if you missed it, here's what he
said about it. Whose game is most underrated in the league.
Speaker 5 (10:48):
I'm gonna go with it. I'm gonna go with Lebron.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
Underrated just means you're not right at your right, entirely right.
Speaker 5 (10:55):
I think Lebron's underrated.
Speaker 3 (10:57):
And I had people scratching their heads.
Speaker 1 (10:59):
But when you think about what he's doing at this age,
even though he's very rated and everybody, I don't think
it's a sports show in the nation that doesn't bring
his name up like once a show.
Speaker 3 (11:10):
Even though he's very rated.
Speaker 1 (11:12):
Would you say that's a fair assessment from when Binyama
because he's saying, yo, man, I still see some greatness
and that what a what a complment coming from a
young man at the top of his game.
Speaker 2 (11:22):
You could be.
Speaker 1 (11:24):
Very rated and still underrated that I don't think that's
Impuffy Blake.
Speaker 3 (11:28):
Yeah, I think there's NFL players.
Speaker 1 (11:30):
There's players in baseball, basketball, all sports where you're like, no, no,
they're respected, But I'm telling you they're not respected even
enough value he brings to a team, the leadership. You know,
you got a factor to criticism that he gets because
he gets a lot of it. I think what wen
Bin Yama said about Lebron speaks volumes. It's like, Yo,
here's a guy that's so rated, and we know that
(11:51):
he's in a goat conversation one hundred and fifty times
a week still, but he's still underrated in his opinion.
That's amazing. Look at your own team. I think everyone
could draw one name where it's like, I watch this
guy day in and day out, he's underrated.
Speaker 3 (12:07):
Everyone has that guy in their own team.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
I'm saying on a bigger scale, Lebron James, because there's
so many Lebron haters and people like to kick him
down and put him down. And he's not Michael Jordani's.
He's not the Goat, he's not this. He's not even Kobe,
he's not even Magic or Bird. I think Lebron James.
I said to Covino in the hallway yesterday, Lebron James.
Speaker 2 (12:30):
Lebron James, Learron James.
Speaker 3 (12:32):
But by the way, that kid's like forty.
Speaker 1 (12:34):
That kid's forty. Now that's how long Lebron's been dominating.
Speaker 2 (12:37):
That kid, Larron James.
Speaker 3 (12:40):
He's married with children. Lebron James. If somehow, if.
Speaker 1 (12:47):
He wins the NBA title this year with Luca, that
would mean two championships with the Lakers, two with the Heat,
and he took the Cleveland Cavaliers in the in the
Greatest Season where the Warriors we had were the best
team in NBA history and lost after being up three
to one. That would be five NBA titles. So Lebron, I.
Speaker 3 (13:11):
Think you would argue he's over he's underrated for what
he's done.
Speaker 1 (13:17):
Saying. I know it sounds crazy, but I totally get
what he's saying. When we watch the Olympics last year,
what did every superstar in the NBA say, y'all, I
don't get to play with Lebron every day.
Speaker 3 (13:28):
No one practices.
Speaker 1 (13:29):
Harder, no one has the work ethic, no one, No
one brings to the table what Lebron James rings. It
actually has the respect of all the players in the league.
No one has more respect from their peers. Lebron James
la speaks volumes, dude, Lebron never you know how they
always have those like those silent surveys, like hey, most
overrated player, most of this most that Lebron James will
(13:50):
never win most overrated.
Speaker 3 (13:51):
He is respected by his peers. Facts.
Speaker 1 (13:55):
And that was just an interesting story that what was
that last week or was it? Yeah, it was the
end of the last week, right, we just didn't have
time for it. But speaking of the Lakers tonight, I
think we're going to see why he said that. I
think we're going to see a really great game tonight.
I think we're going to see what the Lakers got.
And you know, there's so much hype that they could
go all the way this year.
Speaker 5 (14:14):
Man.
Speaker 1 (14:14):
Well and just like that, just like that, they're playing
great defense.
Speaker 4 (14:17):
Like whoa when you know one guy who's a little
underrated right now because the the Lakers are like eighteen
and four in this past stretch of the season, yea.
And so you got to give a lot of credit
to JJ Reddick. We haven't talked about him at all.
Speaker 1 (14:31):
And remember saying I heard I even heard Stephen A. Smith,
who was very critical of before the season started.
Speaker 3 (14:39):
Of the year.
Speaker 4 (14:40):
I remember dudes on our own network laughing at that,
saying this is a joke. And look at where they're
at now, where they at the third, fourth seed. They're
doing well. They got to keep this up going into
the final stretch of the season here.
Speaker 5 (14:54):
But Austin Reeves, what a tear. What a tear that
guy has been.
Speaker 3 (14:58):
On airing it up.
Speaker 1 (14:59):
Yeah, and again it's understated because who well you see
what the numbers he's putting up. But I'll go back
to the JJ Reddick thing just for one second, though.
You're right the criticism that he got it is worthy
of you got to take it back or apologize podcast
boys exactly. That's insane. And like you said, Reeves.
Speaker 4 (15:18):
Just yeah, the combination and we saw it in Denver
and hopefully they could keep that formula going. But the
big three really have been Lebron, Luca and Austin Reeves.
So if those three can stay hot, this team can
go far.
Speaker 1 (15:32):
Coach of the Year JJ Reddick so many they're firing
on all cylinders, as the expression goes at just the
right time, and we're going to see it on the
main stage on a big stage tonight. Just more reason
to enjoy some tacos lebron style on a Taco Tuesday.
You know, it's the coolest part about Austin Reeves. Austin Reeves,
(15:53):
his head, his cool headband, his corny like haircut. Well
these are all I mean? Do you keep going? Unassuming
nature his wristbands. Austin Reeves undrafted in twenty twenty one.
Speaker 3 (16:06):
When he broke on the scene. You remember those first
couple of games, Danny, we were doing a show together
early on.
Speaker 1 (16:10):
This is like the early days of Kavino Richie on
Fox Sports Radio, when he started coming into his own.
There was almost a sense of like, all right, is
this is this like for real? Is this like another
Alex Caruso type of guy. It's like, oh, you know,
great white hope kind of yeah guy you root for,
Like is he gonna be like the guy off the
bench And it's like, oh wow, he's become a key components.
He's a star now good.
Speaker 4 (16:31):
Team and defensively too, He's like this anytime he gets
on the floor. He's a spark plug for the team.
Speaker 1 (16:36):
And what makes him great rich you already said it
is that he's unassuming, and I think that makes it
more fun. That's why I loved Ganadi Glovkin triple g
because he looked like a nerd who would beat your
ass in the rain. You know, when someone's unassuming like that,
it just makes it so much cooler. So major props
to him. And we're gonna see what the Lakers got tonight,
(16:57):
or are We're gonna see what the MAVs got? Can't
wait wait?
Speaker 3 (17:01):
Based on this conversation we.
Speaker 1 (17:02):
Just had, I gave what Lebron all these props saying
how great he is if he scores forty five and
that prevents me from winning my Luca over thirty.
Speaker 3 (17:11):
Point best, I gonna hate Lebron tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (17:14):
All right, we got more Covine on Rich coming up,
will do a Shack Diesel trivia, So if you want
in the number eight seven, seven, nine nine on Fox,
we'll give away covene on Rich, stainless steel, Swiggy, some

all the Fox Sports radio hosts breaking out their new

you get that jacket? They got sweet jackets and I'm
a jacket guy. I love those, like an over like
your shirt get Ober shirt jacket or that that Cloud

A best selling product from the famous Cloud collection.
Speaker 3 (18:21):
Look it up, you'll enjoy it. They got quarter zips
if that's your style.
Speaker 1 (18:24):
If you like that sweatshirt with a little zip it
goes down to the chest, that's that's the look.
Speaker 3 (18:29):
That's the Rob Parker look. Rob Parker rocks the cool.
Speaker 1 (18:32):
Rocks a quarters at harder than does Rob Parker have
a shirt that's not aquar.
Speaker 3 (18:36):
I know, man, I knew that, whether you're lounging.

com for twenty percent off your first order. That's what
(19:01):
Luca's singing tonight, Bro, how you like me now? And
in fact it's over, bro. I just saw footage of
him pulling up tonight. He floated out of his car
looking all dapper, and he pulls up in this car.
It looks like something sewn Michaels would be driving. Rich
(19:22):
You see this car, Look at this, look at his car,
his footage and look look at his car. Look at
that thing. Is that Marty Jeannetti's car? Is he a rocker?
What is that?
Speaker 3 (19:35):
It's like a pink and blue, pink and sports car. Yeah,
it's awesome.
Speaker 1 (19:39):
And then Lucas steps out and he's got a sweet
suit on. He looks like he's John Wick stepping out.
Look at his dude, he's ready. That is Jean Wick.
He has a full on, like black suit, black tie.
He's ready for business time.
Speaker 5 (19:54):
Car is a midnight racer, is yo?
Speaker 1 (19:57):
Danny g Aside from the color I think you'd like
that are anyway?
Speaker 3 (20:01):
Props.
Speaker 1 (20:01):
I just saw that video of him pulling up to
the game. Thank you Brian Albertson for sending it. And
as we watch a bunch of spring training baseball on
the TV's around here, props to my dude, Keith Hernandez
on the s NY call for the Mets.
Speaker 3 (20:14):
Why are you giving him props? He didn't give you
props when we worked at US Andy. I mean that
is true.
Speaker 1 (20:17):
I like he didn't know, but he did give us.
He did give me joy as a child, true, true,
great mustache. I can't take away from his stats. He
rocked the stats and he rocks the stash. As you know,
Keith one of the more entertaining color commentators in the
world of baseball.
Speaker 3 (20:32):
Always got a lot of old school type of opigions.
No love it, I love takes. Keith is so great.
Speaker 1 (20:38):
In the booth, they're doing a spring training game and
they cut away for some reason. B roll you know,
Den in Florida, there's people playing pickleball and there's a
woman in like a little tank top and she's got
huge uh boy, yeah, paddles. She has huge pickleball battles.
And Garry Cohen's talking to and he's like, I'm sorry,
(21:01):
I'm distracted. What did you say? What?
Speaker 5 (21:03):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (21:04):
Now I gotta see this Keith and DVDA is classic Keith.
So all right, let's do this.
Speaker 1 (21:10):
It's time for Shack Diesel trivia.
Speaker 2 (21:13):
Whenever we say not to name drop, that means we're
about to name drop.
Speaker 3 (21:17):
I'll name drop. Oh my goodness.
Speaker 2 (21:19):
Not only our CNR friends with Tyson and mahomes hey man,
they're also buddies with a big Aristontah.
Speaker 5 (21:27):
What's up?
Speaker 1 (21:27):
A big shot Diesel aka Shackfu aka Shack Daddy. Okay,
the big Aristotle. Guess what it's done? Went from seeing
our project.
Speaker 2 (21:36):
Time for some basketball trivia.
Speaker 1 (21:38):
Shack Diesel basketball trivia.
Speaker 5 (21:40):

Speaker 3 (24:51):
Death taxes and shoes always said that. Shoot Jesus here sandals?
Speaker 5 (24:57):

Speaker 4 (26:00):
I thought it was Michael Thompson, Yes, best buyer with

Speaker 5 (26:08):

Clay's dad.
Speaker 1 (26:12):
That's right, the Lakers who are going to win tonight.
But again, I don't know if they're gonna go all

You need a big man. Everybody needs a big man.
Speaker 4 (26:22):
Jackson Hayes has been looking okay, everybody needs a big
You're right, though, they probably could use one one more big.
Speaker 1 (26:27):
You know, give me analogy, shock, Does anyone really have

team's rotation stinks. I'm like, does anyone have a great rotation.
Speaker 3 (26:35):

Speaker 7 (26:36):
You know?
Speaker 1 (26:36):

Speaker 3 (27:14):
I don't caught up thinking about Shacks, taxes, shaxes.
Speaker 6 (27:18):
I don't know, you know if you caught this, but uh,
Shaq had a restaurant that apparently closed down downtown. Yeah,
I uh his chicken franchise closed out by us, and
I think they're completely separate.
Speaker 5 (27:31):
Chicken.
Speaker 1 (27:32):
Yeah. He has so many ye, he has his hands

Speaker 5 (27:43):
But it's good.
Speaker 6 (27:43):
I'll tell you that the Tuscan Cheese delicious, glic breadsticks

Tuscan six Cheese, It's delicious. Yeah, recommended, highly recommended. Colt
GM Chris Ballard says there will be an open competition
a quarterback next season that includes Anthony Richardson, who had
been their season opening starter of the first two years
(28:05):
of his career. Chiefs GM Brett Viach says he believes
senator Travis Kelsey will be back for the twenty twenty
five season, while Falcons GM Terry Fontenos's quarterback Kirk Cousins
will remain with the team as the backup to Michael
Pennant's junior for the foreseeable future. Browns GM Andrew Berry
reiterated the team isn't interested in trading defensive end Miles Garrett. However,
the Commanders are allowing defensive lineman Jonathan Allen to seek
(28:27):
a trade. Titans GM Mike Borganzi says the team has
received offers for the first overall pick Bill soon wide
receiver Khalil Shakir to a four year, sixty million dollar extension.
Meetings between the College Football Playoff Conference commissioners ended with
no final decision on a future format. ACC Commissioner Jim
Phillips told reporters twelve team, fourteen team, and sixteen team
(28:47):
formats were discussed in the meeting in Dallas. WNBA star
Diana Tarrassi told tom Magazine. She's retiring after twenty years
in the league. Three time WNBA champion, all time scoring leader,
won six gold medals during her playing career. She played
them all with the Phoenix Mercury in the WNBA. Diana
Tarrossi retiring today at the age of forty two guys.
Speaker 1 (29:07):
Back to you, Thank you, Dan Bayer. All right, Kavino
on Rich Fox Sports Radio. Now, before we get out

do you want to uh, where do you want to go?
Pal besides to the Moon, which, by the way, earlier
off there, Cavino goes, I want to go to In
and Out because when Shaq was talking double double, I
was thinking Hamburgers.
Speaker 5 (29:29):
He owned some five guys, by.
Speaker 3 (29:31):
The way, five guys.
Speaker 1 (29:32):
They recently came out with a survey most expensive fast
food Burger five guys by far number one on the list.
Speaker 3 (29:40):
I love five guys Burger. But but you ever go
there and it's like two people through forty.
Speaker 5 (29:44):
Bus I know it's worth it to splurge on that.
Speaker 1 (29:46):
Sometimes they think they're doing you a favor by filling
your bag with Frenchies, They're just making you more fat.
Speaker 3 (29:51):
That's that's the trick. Yeah, all right, well, hay more more,
We got more.
Speaker 1 (29:56):
Kavino on Rich coming up, Will tuggletle Mba and a

(31:00):
I was Matthew dot Com quality gear before we get
to your Osha Jackson junior story. He celebrated a birthday today.
Ice Cubes kid, actor, musician, good dude. We've interviewed him
a few times. Nice guy. Yeah, Like a year ago
or so, we had a conversation about everyone thinks their
team's closer stinks unless you are Marianna Rivera in the
(31:22):
nineties or Trevor Hoffman in his prime. Yet every fan
base is like, our closer stinks. Are bullpens a horrible?
That's just like a common sentiment, right mm hm. Like
in football, everyone's always dark defense, unless you're the Ravens
defense of the two thousands or the Steel Curtain in
the seventies, or you know, everyone loves to complain about
(31:42):
the same things. I think the version of that now
is starting rotation, unless you're the Dodgers who have like
eight pitchers. Yankees have a pretty decent starting rotation too,
but there's injuries, do you know, Yeah, Jean Carlos Stanton's
got to stop playing tennis. How much tennis is this guy?
What is Tennis elbows, Yankees lineup not looking that good.
(32:04):
They're pitching better be good. But like I have met
fan friends like Manaia's on the IL already, same with
you know, Frankie Montas and listen, guys are banged up already.
Speaker 3 (32:14):
But don't feel like that's the new You know.
Speaker 1 (32:16):
Why because pitchers today are made a glass. But do
you agree though, that is going down all the time.
So you could have some big names in your starting rotation,
but health as wealth. But do you know what I'm
saying though, Like remember back in the day, you'd be
able to say I can name one ace from each
team almost and if you have like two or three guys,
I feel like you look around baseball and I don't
(32:37):
know if it's because these guys go five and the
bullpen there's more emphasis on that. I look around baseball,
and I'm a pretty big baseball fan. In fact, I
think ESPM blew it. I think that's the weak letting
baseball go. I heard Colin talk about that what what
a ball drop?
Speaker 5 (32:53):
Literally?
Speaker 1 (32:54):
I mean I don't know if you guys heard, But
after the twenty twenty five season, ESPN and Baseball no
longer a partnership. You're not gonna be seeing baseball covered
on ESPN and a lot of us listening. We grew
up watching baseball Tonight and Sunday Night baseball, and you're
not gonna see that anymore. It's ridiculous. Especially when baseball's on.
It's come up the past few years. It's major ball
(33:15):
dropped like Aaron Judge in the World Series. The ball
drop is Judge level because baseball's had a great two
to three year pocket here and I feel like there's
a lot of buzz going into the season, but with
the offseason last year especially, Yeah, he got big stars
on big teams. Now is when you would think a
network would be leaning into baseball. Well, someone's gonna benefit
(33:36):
greatly based on ESPN's failure.
Speaker 3 (33:38):
Helps me and you. Do you agree though, that there
is a sense of no one's really got that great
as starters. Do you feel that from the Dodgers.
Speaker 1 (33:51):
I feel like the Yankees starting five, believe it or not,
Plus they got Stroman like lingering around sound. I feel
like the Yankees actually have a pretty decent starting law
starting five not bad. No one has it, So if
you're looking at your team, you're like who's are four
and five guys to who are these guys? As they
said in Major League, who are these effing guys? I
(34:13):
feel like everyone feels that way because starting pitching is
just not what it once was, where you can name
all five starters you were guaranteed they're all gonna go
twenty five to thirty starts a year. That's just not
baseball anymore. The Dodgers won the World Series with a
few bullpen games in the playoffs. Baseball pitching is just
set up differently now. So when you're looking at your
team's roster and you're like, I don't know how things
(34:34):
are looking, don't be don't be discouraged if your team's
starting pitching doesn't look everybody's, for the most part, looking
a little shaky, little suspects.
Speaker 4 (34:44):
So quick Search says MLB power rankings going into this
new season for top rotations Braves, Diamondbacks, Red Sox, Rangers, Tigers, Pirates, Dodgers.
Speaker 3 (34:55):
Wow, Yankees aren't even in.
Speaker 4 (34:56):
There's right underneath yeah ranks and they got in the bullpen.
Speaker 5 (35:01):
Yeah, you're right, they're right under the Dodgers here.
Speaker 3 (35:03):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (35:04):
So obviously we're excited about baseball. ESPN not so excited
about it. Let'sten to the Yankees projected starting five, and
this is a team that's projected to in ninety something games,
right this the Yankees are the American Remember you have
to preface each guy as bearded Garrett Cole, okay, bearded Rod.
But when I say, you know, this is a team
(35:24):
that's projected to in ninety two hundred games, the Yankees
are of the elite of the AL going into the season.
Correct Al defending champions lost in the World Series. Garrett Cole,
I'm sorry, Garret Cole, bearded, well groomed Garrett Cole coming
off an injury, but I think he's great. Max Freed
from Santa Monica, California.
Speaker 3 (35:44):
Yeah, scruffy. Carlos Rodon, Yeah, that guy was in the foest.
Speaker 1 (35:50):
He said he's definitely growing the beard. So he's you know,
some a timidation factor with him. And then after you
get past Cole, Freed and Rodon, I don't think the
average baseball fan knows who Luis gill or Clark.
Speaker 3 (36:01):
Schmidtar Louis Heel was an All Star last year.
Speaker 1 (36:05):
But Luis Rookie of the Year, right to expect, you know,
big numbers from that guy in the four hole, in
the four spot, so he's king of the heel. So
just just a deep thought I had, because yeah, the
deeper point here is if you're worried about your starting
five everyone, it feels like everybody, yeah.
Speaker 3 (36:25):
As a Mets fan, and I'm all pumped.
Speaker 1 (36:27):
You know, Soto and Lindor and you know Pete, Alonzo
and Nimo and Viento's the lineup stacked. I'm like, all right,
so we had Senga, who else? Manaia's on the il Peterson,
we're Clay Holmes from the Yankees is now a starter
on my team?
Speaker 3 (36:42):
What's going on here?
Speaker 1 (36:43):
Everyone feels that way at the end. And by the way,
how do you feel about Clay Holmes as a starter
Crosstown on the Mets.
Speaker 3 (36:50):
I mean, he wasn't doing it as a reliever, so interesting,
you know. Decision.
Speaker 1 (36:54):
All right, Let's get to this Osha Jackson junior story. Yeah,
real quick, right quick. It's a two part doozy because
Osha Jackson turned thirty four yesterday. We ran out a
time yesterday, so happy birthday to him and the rock
his little French bulldog passed away, so it's a relevant story.
(37:15):
On two parts. Happy Birthday, Osha Jackson and our condolences
to the rock. This is about being starstruck. Take a listen.
This is ice Cube son Osha Jackson Junior on being starstruck.
Speaker 7 (37:29):
I'm in sixth grade. We're around the school spreads like
wildfire share. Your dad's here, So I'm thinking, what did
I do? Picking me up from school is grandma business?
My dad's not doing this too, so I'm like, I
can't think of what I did. So when I get outside,
he's outside in the nice car. Now we got family
vehicles four doors, but he's here in the two doors.
Speaker 5 (37:49):
So this is the nice car. I get in the car.
Speaker 7 (37:51):
He drives all the way to Venice. Sit down at
this restaurant. We're at a table.
Speaker 3 (37:55):
It's bigger than it should be for two people in walks.
My here the Rock Jesus, and he just sits next.
Speaker 7 (38:02):
To me, and him and my dad have a meeting
over lunch, and I am starstruck beyond belief. I can't
get any words to come out of my mouth. As
a kid, the memories I have from it is I got.
Speaker 2 (38:14):
A cheeseburger, He got a cheeseburger.
Speaker 8 (38:15):
I got a root beer. He got a diet coke.
Thought that was weird. It wasn't really feeling that wanted caffeine,
but he didn't want the sugar. My dad was like, dude,
talk to him. Who do you want him to kick?
And I'm just like, I can't talk. He signed my shirt,
took a picture, he paid for his meal. Lady came
back for the change. He didn't take the change, just
walked out. And I took his quarter and put it
in my bucket and I put it in a sandwich
bag and I still have it.
Speaker 5 (38:36):
You still got the quarter?
Speaker 3 (38:37):
Damn right, where's the quarter at? Give it to my moms.
She has it in her safe.
Speaker 5 (38:41):
The lucky quarter. Yeah, dude's rocks quarter.
Speaker 1 (38:43):
Bro.
Speaker 5 (38:44):
How old were you twelve?
Speaker 3 (38:45):
Oh so you're in the heat of loving wrestling, dude.
Speaker 5 (38:48):
Yes. I went to the Scorpion King premiere.
Speaker 2 (38:50):
That's that's a rock man.
Speaker 3 (38:51):
God, that's a rock fan.
Speaker 1 (38:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (38:53):
I went to see The Mummy Returns twice.
Speaker 5 (38:55):
He's in the movie for five minutes. This was my dude, bro,
So how cool was that?
Speaker 8 (39:00):
Like?
Speaker 1 (39:00):
Those are the celebrity perks that you dream of having
lunch with his dad and the rock But the point
here is he was so starstruck he couldn't think of
anything to say to the dude. And he still has
that quarter, which is great because deep down inside, we're
all a little twelve year old kid who remembers how
we felt about our heroes. Seriously that you know, we
(39:22):
all had heroes at twelve years old.
Speaker 5 (39:24):
That was his.
Speaker 1 (39:25):
When you if you ever get the opportunity to meet
someone that you would consider a hero, it really is.
Speaker 3 (39:34):
It is an awkward moment. One story comes to mind
for me.
Speaker 1 (39:38):
The first Super Bowl that I ever went to cover
was in Jacksonville, Florida, and I was in my twenties
and across the room, this is before Kevino and I
were interviewing I guess athletes on the regular. This is
like when we were sort of new to the athlete world.
Is our first coverage of the Super Bowl, so this
(39:58):
is big.
Speaker 3 (39:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (39:59):
So they're like, yeah, you're gonna have the opportunity to
interview some legends. I see across the room, Joe Montana
And to know me, I'm a diehard forty nine Ers
fan and Joe Montana is the reason I wore sixteen
when I played sports. That's why my daughter wears sixteen
because she knows that's my favorite number. Like I played
(40:19):
Red sixteen Danny every time we go to Vegas. Right,
it's my THINGE Montana is my guy. As Ohshay said,
this is my guy. I was like, what am I
gonna say when I finally meet Joe Montana?
Speaker 5 (40:30):
Would you believe?
Speaker 1 (40:30):
The best I could come up with was, Hey, Joe,
I had your pajamas when I was a kid. I
couldn't believe he said it. And you know what he
said to him, because I hope you don't still wear him.
Because Riddy is a grown man, you get a snappy comeback.
We've met him a couple times since, but I remember
always thinking about it, like I wasn't a kid, I
was twenty five. Man.
Speaker 3 (40:48):
Yeah, because he'll always be your hero. So who was
that for you? And who would you be starstruck to meet?
For me?
Speaker 1 (40:54):
That was done manningly. And I'll tell you a story
on another day. Let's just say I got caught right
next to him in traffic one time and.
Speaker 3 (41:01):
I lost it.
Speaker 1 (41:03):
All right, have a great night. We'll see you tomorrow.
Until then, I'll read it there you may in the
Promised Land. Man
