I'm Steve Cavino, that is Rich Davis, and again I
hope you're having a Saquon Barkley type of day.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
As I said earlier, a little fun fact.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
I don't think a lot of people know that Saquon
Barkley is the nephew of Iran Barkley, famous boxer who
just dominated in the eighties and if you remember, Robert
o'duran got the best of them at one point, which
was a big fight, big moment. But Saquon huge fight fan,
and he is the nephew of Iran Barkley. He sent

(01:46):
a two year, forty one point two million dollar extension
with the Eagles, props to him.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
We'll talk some football.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
We got Travis Hunter and Show Hey to get to
shack Diesel trivia this hour, but I don't want to
keep people hanging. You know, we'll go rapid fire through these.
But based on on the Saquon contract code. Just when
everyone said, oh, running backs don't matter. Over the last
couple of years, Christian McCaffrey and then last year Saquon
and Derek Henry were like, oh.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
Yeah, running backs don't matter. Running backs don't forget Josh
Jacobs with the package, Josh Jacobs.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
Running backs have been such a crucial part of offensive success.
The minute everyone started counting out running backs, like you know,
you could do running book book committee, who cares. The
minute that sentiment came into the forefront, a lot of
teams like, oh yeah, really really and.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
You'll see you see you see what happened the last
two seasons.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
Yeah, all right, your favorite big guys, it's fat Tuesday,
rapid fire will be done with this. And then I
have an NBA thought based on a stat I just saw.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
I just saw. We'll go to Alex in Colorado. What's
up Alex?

Speaker 4 (02:47):
Oh hey man, love you guys. Thanks man, you know
called in twice and you know you're great.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
Appreciate it.

Speaker 4 (02:55):
Big Ben Wallace, Big Ben Wallace, So you crushed me
with the fielders like Prince Fielder, Tessel Fielder. Bad dudes
that just crushed it. And I was thinking of, you know,
my hometown Detroit, we got big Ben Wallace.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
You know when, uh, have you ever seen that graphic?
I know you have Covino some. I'm just speaking to
the collective you where it shows you where kids played
in the little league, and it was always the big
dude that was catcher or first base, like Lefty was
first base or big guy and big guy. You have
a if you're a coach of a little league team

(03:31):
and you got a big guy, what's your instinct first base,
first base or catcher?

Speaker 1 (03:35):
That's my instinct.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
Yeah, yeah, that's that's you know, that's it's where you go.
I have another honorable mention for basketball. How about Chubby
from Teen Wolf. He was on the Beavers. Remember that
Chubby played by the same dude that says, look, it's
a Rica Platz.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
He was also Francis Buxton in Peewe's Big Adventures. What
a guy?

Speaker 2 (03:54):
Yeah, his name is Mark Holton. By the way, Mark Holton,
Chubby from you know the Beavers. Anyway, who else do
we let's say, had a Bill in North Carolina? I
think the best answer so far has been a Chubby
and king hippo.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
What's up? Bill?

Speaker 5 (04:08):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (04:08):
I got I got one for you, and I'm gonna
I'm gonna jump across the fair gend defense and I'm
gonna give you one.

Speaker 4 (04:15):
You guys probably worked with her.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
How about the Fabulous sports Day. I don't even know who
the fabulous sports babe is. It's baby Hey, it was
going on. Jose in Rochester? What's up? Jose?

Speaker 5 (04:30):
Hey?

Speaker 1 (04:30):
What's up?

Speaker 3 (04:30):
Jose?

Speaker 1 (04:32):
I love you?

Speaker 5 (04:33):
So maw about Uh?

Speaker 6 (04:36):
I don't know if you guys remember Bob Lanier had
the biggest foot in basketball.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
It's a big fellow. What's he a big guys foot?
They got fat foot? Matt in Illinois?

Speaker 1 (04:47):
What's up? Man?

Speaker 5 (04:49):
Hey?

Speaker 4 (04:50):
How about John Daily?

Speaker 3 (04:52):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (04:52):
We said he's the babe Ruth of golf for sure.
That's a great one. Greg and Hartford, it will take
one more after that?

Speaker 1 (04:58):
What's up? Greg?

Speaker 6 (05:00):
Hey?

Speaker 7 (05:00):
I'm thinking I got two. I'm thinking Courtet Kennedy and
I'm thinking.

Speaker 4 (05:04):
Dump Worth from the Old Trailblazer.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
Thank you, buddy. One last one? Lit about Goldberg the
goalie in uh in Mighty Ducks? Is that a good one?
I don't know, I never saw it, that's true? Uh,
Gill and Virgini you wrap it up? Hey? What up? Gil?

Speaker 6 (05:20):
Hey?

Speaker 5 (05:20):
Guys, so I got a few. We're gonna start in
uh entertainment with any character from the Sopranos jump over
to baseball with Kirby Pucket and then I've got uh
the young version of Doe Boy.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
I like all those answers.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
Actually, I'm gonna go with Bobby Buckalou though, you know
when you Bobby Buckle out and I'm gonna go, Yeah,
Kirby Pucket. Dude, when you think of Kirby Pucket and
Tony Gwynn, that's why this is an inspiring conversation.

Speaker 1 (05:47):
It's the one I forgot to mention. I wrote down
Tony Gwinn.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
I mean, guys were not built with you know, amazing physiques,
and who was who was greater than Kirby Puckett and
Tony gwyn when it came to hitting and baseball and
everything else. That's amaze them insanely great.

Speaker 8 (06:01):
And they were relatability with baseball too, Like that's why
look down at the field and when they're in the stands, like.

Speaker 1 (06:10):
I could play that game. I could go out there
and play inspiring such a skill sport it is.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
It proves it right there, man, And that's why there's
an interesting debate going on between Travis Hunter and Shohyo Tani.
I think that's a natural position transition. There no doubt
I just, uh, you know what, I'm gonna put my
MBA thought aside until later and we go right into
this conversation about show Heo Tani and Travis Hunter, because

(06:36):
when you talk about skill in sports, I'm not going
to get to that conversation of like, what's the hardest
sport to play, because you know that's that's so for debate.
Hitting a baseball, you could argue to this day is
the hardest thing to do.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
I've seen.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
I've seen professional athletes all different sports get together and
like barbershop type scenarios and discuss, well, listen, I could
go to the NBA tomorrow, maybe hit a couple of
free throws, and you know, I could throw up a
couple three pointers and hope they go in. But I
could probably a debate for like some sort of decathlon
or something like that. There's always a debate of some
other sport fighting. Of course, right the physical condition you

(07:16):
need to be in the skill level you need to
have to compete.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
People say, you know, hockey players, they're skating. It all
comes back to the same old thing.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
The hardest thing to do is hit a round ball
with a round bat, and it's baseball it's a skill sport,
as we just explained, and the debate this week was
based on something Travis Hunter said. I mean again, he
was asked the question, but what is harder to play
on both sides of the sport? Is it football or baseball?

(07:45):
Here's what Travis Hunter said, If you missed it.

Speaker 9 (07:48):
It's more difficult probably mean what I do in football
because it's a lot on your body. You know, Tunny
either great player, but you got to do a lot
of your football.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
Again, the question was what's harder to play on both
sides of the sport? Football or baseball? Meaning is it
harder for Travis Hunter, who plays offense and defense, or
is it harder for baseball show Heltani as a pitcher
and batter. The answer is obvious and you can't come
down on Travis Hunter. It was a quick answer to

(08:21):
a quick question at a combo. That's the other thing
that people need to keep in mind when it comes
to quotes and a lot of the things we discuss
here on Fox Sports Radio. Well, why did they say that? Hey,
do you hear what Travis Hunters said? Yeah, Well, he
was asked a question. That's what people need to keep
in mind. Sometimes now. He said it like he was
calling out show Heltani. Hey Cavino calling out baseball. Someone

(08:42):
asked him a question that needs to be explained.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
Hey Cavino, you like big asses.

Speaker 2 (08:47):
I do you hear Cavino's on Fox Sports talking about
how asked me? So he was asked a question, he answered,
I'm not mad at him about it, but I asked
you a question. I don't agree with him. I don't
think anyone should. Does he make a point? It's almost
like a two part answer. Football is going to be
more tall on your body, But is it a harder

(09:09):
sport to play both ways? No way, you got to
be exceptional in baseball. I think it's a I'm not
saying sides. I'm not saying it's a short conversation, but
I sort of think it is because there's two layers,
like you just said, the physical wear and tear and
what it does to your body. You play more gas
playing both sides of football, play in the NFL. Forget college.

(09:33):
I mean he was a you know, star player in college,
Heisman Trophy winner. To play in college on both sides
of the ball and do that in the NFL is extraordinary.
The fact that you could line up on both sides
of the ball and defend the pass and then also
make you know, ridiculous catches.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
You got a.

Speaker 2 (09:51):
Professional and that's you know, elite level too. What that
does to your body is something no one's experienced. That's insane.
But justin Jefferson, if he needed to, could play defensive back.
If you were like, yo, we're in the biggest emergency
of all emergencies, ceedee Lamb, could you be a defender
for a minute.

Speaker 1 (10:11):
He could probably do it.

Speaker 2 (10:12):
Maybe not elite, but guess what I bet you Brandon
Ayuk or Tyreek Kale could.

Speaker 1 (10:18):
Defend the penny.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
You know, I rich because they've all done it at
one point in their life in that sport. There's no
question that these guys are playing both sides.

Speaker 1 (10:25):
Well of the ball. At one point.

Speaker 3 (10:26):
They may not.

Speaker 2 (10:27):
They may not be elite on both sides, Trevis Hunter,
but I could promise you you take you know, T Higgins.
There any any elite wide receiver that we talk about,
if push came to shove, they could play defensive back,
they could play free safety. They can do any of
these things. And any guy in the secondary, if he
needed to, could catch passes from a quarterback. But as

(10:51):
we describe with baseball, such a skilled sport, to be
elite enough to be a dominant pitcher and a dominant
hitter at a big lead level like Shoho Tani's doing,
takes much more skill, much more difficult in our opinion,
than what Travis Hunter has to do. And that's not
to take anything away from him, because it's remarkable. It's

(11:11):
just to combat the answer he gave to that question.
If you guys agree or disagree, would love to hear
from you. Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox. But
I think what Shoho Tani is doing is much more difficult,
much more impressive. It's a difference between YO, that's crazy,
that's unbelievable, versus like YO, one guy has done it
since Baby Bruth effectively harder to play on both sides,

(11:33):
Fox Sports Radio Nation. Is there any debate? Does Travis
Hunter have any truth to what he said? All right,
let me throw a curveball at you, Oh Tani style
show Hew Tani at points.

Speaker 1 (11:50):
I mean, this guy's been an MVP without even pitching.

Speaker 2 (11:55):
Throwing the fact that in any given season he's a
cy young candidate, that's what makes it insane and not
even a question for me, Like to take what you know,
a screwball or a you know Verland or a Sures
are in their prime or Paul Skeens is doing on
the mound, and imagine if that guy was also stealing

(12:15):
fifty bases hitting fifty home runs.

Speaker 1 (12:17):
That's the thing.

Speaker 2 (12:18):
Yeah, it's like you think of any slugger out there,
Aaron Judge, He's not going to get on a mound
and be as dumbinant as Joey has become on the mound.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
It's just not going to happen.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
Has he done it at one point in his career,
you know, as a as a high schooler and little league? Yeah,
of course everybody has, so I'm sure he has that experience,
But to do it on that level, no way.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
I think the best ride when you see any position
player take them out.

Speaker 2 (12:39):
They're always throwing junk pitches, knuckleballs, things like that. You
sent me that random clip of Wade Bogs recently. I
had never seen that, Dann Buyer. I know you've seen
a lot of these clubs. Did you ever see that
Wade Box throwing knuckleballs from like back in the day
he retired.

Speaker 1 (12:53):
The side no, I didn't. He was real pumped to
make his debut.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
He was one of those guys known for always throwing
a mean knuckleball, always wanting to get out there, and
then finally got his chance with the Yankees. I never
signified that in sanity you I'd never seen it myself.
And it's during the Yankees Joe Tory days, and the
Yankees are down double, you know, ten plus runs in
the seventh or eighth inning. Out comes Wade Bugs and
he's throwing knucklers and he actually strikes someone out, gets

(13:18):
two guys to ground out. It was it was phenomenal.

Speaker 1 (13:21):
Right.

Speaker 2 (13:22):
The better question is not Travis Hunter Verstani. You got
to say, do you put what Otani's doing, because pitching
and hitting are so different. Is that equal to what
Primetime did? Or Bo Jackson playing two different sports? Because
pitching and hitting it's almost like two different sports, that's
the better question.

Speaker 8 (13:41):
It would almost be like being a Pro Bowl kicker
kicking you know, sixty yard field goals and then also
being able to play you know, yeah, it would be.

Speaker 1 (13:52):
Like if Sakwon Barkley could also kick, like Justin Tucker. Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 2 (13:56):
It's it's still two different skills, Like I'll be honest,
it sounds ridiculous, but I'll pat you on the back
Cavino since I rarely do so. Being a sports talk
show host is different than when Covino does like rock radio.
Oh yeah, those are two different skills. Like when when
you hear Cavino on one of the rock stations on
Serious XM, Hey, you know that was Metallica, and you

(14:19):
know he's shooting to crap about all his fun facts
about rock music in between.

Speaker 1 (14:22):
Songs, telling some of the same jokes though oh yeah,
oh the jokes are equally bad.

Speaker 2 (14:26):
But but that skill is not the same skill as
doing a talk show.

Speaker 1 (14:32):
It's a different skill set. Different.

Speaker 2 (14:34):
Yeah, it absolutely is. That's actually a good question. Is
that a better debate? Like what Bo Jackson did, what
Dion Sanders did? Is that a better debate? Travis Hunter, regardless,
not trying to take anything away from his unbelievables. It's amazing,
you know, the fact that we're even debating what he's
doing with showhy is a testament to how great he is.

(14:58):
But I do think that two sides of baseball is
harder to play than you know, both sides of football.
You know, I just more taxing, more talling on you, right,
more exhausting football have to do both sides.

Speaker 1 (15:11):
I'm sure there's football gurus.

Speaker 2 (15:13):
That want to strangle me when I say this, but
from my perspective, being a defensive back and a wide
receiver or probably two of the most similar positions where
you're you're just doing close to the same thing, just
on two different sides.

Speaker 1 (15:32):
Of the ball. I'm sure a professional with debate that.

Speaker 2 (15:34):
Of course they would, But I'm saying like it would
be like defending a point guard or being a point
guard that has the ball, but you would imagine the
same athleticism is required. It's a very similar skill set.
I maybe I could be totally wrong with.

Speaker 8 (15:49):
That's why receivers tend to be we're talking wide receiver
verse defensive background.

Speaker 1 (15:53):
Yeah. Yeah, wide receivers are usually are a little taller.
I mean, if we're talking about physically physical differences.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
I have better defensive backs, a little quicker their receiving,
their hands are better.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (16:05):
Now it became a debate Travis Hunter again, he was
asked the question, what was harder to play on both sides?
So we thought about it, we brought it to you
we'll take two quick phone calls and we'll get ready
for some shock diesel trivia. All right, let's say hi
to Doug and Maryland.

Speaker 1 (16:20):
Hey, Doug, Hey, guys, how.

Speaker 6 (16:22):
You doing real quick? Yeah, I don't want to take
a lot of time.

Speaker 7 (16:25):
But Travis hunters on the same level as Charles Woodson,
who played both ways. But look, I was like I
was telling your call screener, the most difficult sport in
the world to play is baseball. You're hitting a brown
ball off all a round bat, and then he throws
one hundred miles per hour.

Speaker 6 (16:41):
I mean, there's no argument.

Speaker 7 (16:42):
It's O Tawni And trust me, I'm not a big o'
Tawny fan, but I have to admire and respect the.

Speaker 6 (16:49):
Talent that he that he has, I mean, original debate.

Speaker 2 (16:53):
You know what's so funny is that's one of those
like automatic responses.

Speaker 1 (16:57):
That we all have. Round ball, round bat hardest. Ever?

Speaker 2 (17:00):
Did those science nerds with the mustaches and brets ever
put this to the test? Did John Brenk has ever
really does sports science on on what really is the hardest?

Speaker 1 (17:08):
Because we just know, as sports fans, crickets easier than
so you're saying.

Speaker 2 (17:13):
I'm saying we just as sports fans have heard that,
and that's our automatic response. Round ball, round by hardest
thing to do. I don't know if that's true a dreaming.
It seems to be, though, when you got such a
short reaction time, I believe John Brinkers did put that
to the test, Like how insane it is in sports
science too.

Speaker 1 (17:33):
Well, you react to react, and that.

Speaker 2 (17:35):
Split second, that split second to make that decision on
where the pitch is going to be.

Speaker 8 (17:39):
Because when we've all we've all stood in a batting cage,
the fastest one, and you know, before you can even
think about getting the bat around, the pitches passed you.
Whereas all of us have thrown a football, some of
us can throw it better than others, but we can
all spiral the ball. We've all caught a punt, you know,
you know, so it seems at least easier, even though
the NFL.

Speaker 1 (17:58):
Is not easy.

Speaker 2 (17:59):
You know, you don't have a defender in your face,
but we've all made a three point I think I
may be dreaming this, but this has been discussed among athletes,
and I feel like Mookie Bets, who's known as such
a great athlete across the board has discussed with fellow
elite athletes football, baseball, basketball, where he's like, Yo, with
all due respect, I know I wouldn't be great in

(18:20):
the NBA, but I might score four points, chuck up
a couple shots, get lucky. But there's no way. And
he's talking like NBA players saying, you know, there's no
way you're even touching the ball in ten at bats
in the big leagues, Like you're not. You're not even
making contact it yet in the NBA. I want to
be good, but I think you got like Mookie Betts said,
I'll get off a couple shots and maybe I'll get lucky.

(18:41):
You're not getting lucky in the batter's box. I think
that's where it ends, all right. Uh you want to say,
I Robert in Minnesota, Robert, you're on with CNR.

Speaker 1 (18:49):
We got Shock Diesel Trivia on deck. What's up, Robert?

Speaker 6 (18:53):
Hey, guys love this show.

Speaker 3 (18:54):
It's great, Thank you.

Speaker 6 (18:56):
I think it's important also to acknowledge the cultural differences
we don't discuss with the international players, whether it's from Asia,
from South America, from Venezuela, from Dominican Republic. Uh, these
guys are adjusting to a culture change as well as
their sport.

Speaker 7 (19:16):
And an important question to ask is everybody from Fox Sport.

Speaker 1 (19:25):
Gotta dump that idiot. Yeah, that guy calls every day.
It changes his voice every day.

Speaker 2 (19:29):
But you know what he does, he says, he says
something rude at the end, but he doesn't realize that,
like it's purposeless because they we have a dumb button.

Speaker 1 (19:37):
Yeah, but yeah, but the beginning part of the call
is always great. Rush man, he ruins his own.

Speaker 8 (19:43):
You know, you guys have a troll caller now that
officially means Covino and which have arrived.

Speaker 2 (19:47):
We made it bro Yeah, hey yeah, like, hey, you
like me now that said, let's play some Shack Diesel

All right, let's get into let's get big Aristotle party started. Okay,
now I'm not on the list, But who holds the
record for the most NBA free throws made? Hey, Oscar Robertson,
three Lebron James C.

Speaker 1 (23:27):
Karl Malone, Mark, Mark, Oscar Robertson.

Speaker 2 (23:34):
Rich Rich for the steal, I mean just based on longevity,
Lebron James, No, no.

Speaker 3 (23:38):
You're both.

Speaker 1 (23:40):
Hot, Karl Malone. Lebron is second on the list seven seven.

Speaker 2 (23:45):
Well yeah, Lebron one point away from fifty thousand today.

Speaker 1 (23:49):
Right, yeah. I saw Dan shaking his head in there.
I wonder why dance furious? Hey, I wonder why as well? Shack?
You know what, Rich knows more about it.

Speaker 11 (23:58):
I thought his name was the mailman, not what you said.
Rick shows more about Maggie Malone. All right, all right,
nobody on the board yet. As we moved around two.

Speaker 10 (24:08):
Round two, Spider John Sally won NBA titles with three
different teams, the Pistons, the Bulls and who A the Spurs,
B the Lakers or c the heat John Sad.

Speaker 1 (24:22):
Mark Mark the Laker, Yes, right with me and Kobe
in two thousand. Mark on the board. He's a good Maynor.

Speaker 3 (24:29):
I knew that one. Yeah, good for you? Want all right?

Speaker 8 (24:35):
Mark cafway to winning a swiggy as we go to
round three.

Speaker 10 (24:39):
What was I once quoted saying about my foul shooting? Hey,
underhand foul shots would make me look like a big dummy.
I'd rather go six for thirteen at the line. B me,
shooting forty found lines is just God's way of saying
nobody's perfect. Or see, most of the people hating my
free throw shooting could never sniff the d league.

Speaker 8 (25:00):
Oh Mark for the wind, B yeah, b yes, wow
you the foul line is God's way saying nobody's perfect.

Speaker 1 (25:14):
But I'm damn close. And he jumped right in there
and clean se.

Speaker 6 (25:18):
I wanted to win that cligging. I'm sorry.

Speaker 1 (25:20):
That was a great job. Mark. We're happy for you.
By the way, check is a tree. You named your
boat after yourself? I did. It's called uh it we
never sank What was that stupid joke? He called it?
Brick called a free throw? Free throw? That way? I
never sink it.

Speaker 8 (25:35):
Mark, congratulations, hang on the line there in Maine. Thank
you for listening.

Speaker 1 (25:39):
Mark's the man.

Speaker 8 (25:39):
Thanks Mark.

Speaker 1 (25:41):
I like Mark Mark's energy. He brought it. He brought
it like it. My joke failed? What was that? What
was that stupid meaning that went around about the Shack's boat.
It's called free throw because I would never sink it.
Oh that's right, Okay, that's what that's that's what you
can't tell jokes if you don't know the punchline Okay,
that's so sorry. I have a good time. Letter goes
see brother, Thanks, thank you, Shack.

Speaker 2 (26:01):
You know as coming in as we as we go
to Dan Bayer for an update, I want you to
think about one thing. How bad that joke was. How
bad that joke was? You know, I gotta know the
punch line to your own joke bad the joke was told?

Speaker 1 (26:12):
How about that? Guys? Fully once shame on. You can't
get fooled again. Damn fire. What's going on now? Guys?

Speaker 12 (26:20):
Crazy day in baseball. This story has been making the rounds.
Actually don't want to go save it to the end.
I'll save it to the end because I give you
some Yes what it ea? Is Kyrie Irving done for
the year? The Mavericks guard towards acl last night against
the Sacramento Kings. He will need surgery and will not
play again this season. And now there's possible talk maybe
the Mavericks just keep Anthony Davis out for the rest

(26:41):
of the year. Maverick's currently the ten seed in the West.
Jalen Suggs of the Orlando Magic hasn't played more than
a month. He's not going to play for the rest
of the year. He had surgery to repair his left
knee injury. Philadelphia Eagles made running back Saquon Barkley the
highest paid running back in NFL history, gets a two
year extension worth forty one point two million dollars. He

(27:01):
becomes the first running back to break the twenty million
dollar a year mark. Jets released wide receiver Davonte Adams.
Vikings did not use the franchise tag on quarterback sam Donold.
That means just two players got the franchise tag this year.
Bengals wide receiver T Higgins, who got it for the
second time, and Chiefs guard Tray Smith had the franchise
tag placed on him. The Cowboys didn't need to do

(27:22):
it to defensive lineman Osa A dig Azua, who signed
a four year, eighty million dollar extension with the team
Ceedee Lamba. The Cowboys also restructured his contract. The free
up about twenty million dollars in cap space. Seahawks made
a bunch of cuts today. Tyler Lockett was not one
of them, but they saved twenty six million dollars in
cap space. Packers sign kicker Brandon McManus. He's back on

(27:42):
a three year deal.

Speaker 1 (27:43):
Well.

Speaker 12 (27:43):
The Rams traded offensive lineman Jonah Jackson to the Bears
in exchange for a sixth round pick. Then I mentioned
DeVante Adams got released. If I did, I'm sorry. But
if I didn't, he freed up about thirty million dollars
in cap space for the New York Jets, and reports
say that Adams likely prefers to play on the West
Coast as he for a new team. University of North
Carolina will not be appearing in HBO's off season version

(28:05):
of Hard Knocks, despite reports.

Speaker 1 (28:07):
That they were last week. That is not gonna happen.

Speaker 12 (28:10):
And now the baseball story happened in college baseball today.
George Mason University, their baseball team set an NCAA record
by scoring twenty three runs in one inning in a
twenty six six victory.

Speaker 1 (28:22):
Over holy Cross.

Speaker 12 (28:24):
The GMU Patriots scored the runs of the second inning,
did not hit a.

Speaker 1 (28:28):
Triple or a home run.

Speaker 12 (28:30):
Holy Cross said to use five different pitchers and at
one stretch, George Mason had nineteen straight batters reach base
a twenty three bottom of the twenty three run bottom
of the second inning is George Mason gets that twenty
run win today over holy Cross.

Speaker 2 (28:45):
Guys back to you, is no emptier feeling when you're
playing even rex sports, if there's no run limit like
I play in one league with, is you know this
five run limit per inning just to keep the game
moving when you are a little league kid and the
picture can have fund the strikes on it and embarrassing. Man,
you just felt like we're never going to get in
the dugout. Hope you're not having a Holy Cross sort

(29:07):
of day. Holy Mackrel, Yeah, Holy Mackerel's right.

Speaker 1 (29:09):
Thank you, dB.

Speaker 2 (29:10):
I got to ask you a football question. You brought
up Devanta Adams. What is your thought because I'm too
close to I'm too close to the story to give
you a real answer as a Niners fan, if DeVante
Adams well once to playing the West Coast, if the
Niners picked him up and got some type of deal,
is DeVante Adams and Deebo Samuel a push to you?
Or is Debo his youth give you a feel like

(29:31):
Deebo's got more?

Speaker 1 (29:32):
You know? That's how I feel. You already said it.

Speaker 2 (29:34):
I feel like Debo's going to give you a little
more because I think he has some gas left. And
that's why the commanders are excited about it again. It's
it's two sides to the story. Right yesterday you heard
here on Fox Sports Radio Rich trying to justify that Deebo's.

Speaker 1 (29:48):
Game was just not the same.

Speaker 2 (29:49):
I feel like it's news giving you all the stats
and his decline and how he's just not that good anymore.
If you go and talk to any Commanders fan, or
you talk to Jayden Daniels or anybody who's rooting for
the Commanders, oh.

Speaker 1 (30:00):
These are the moves that we need to make. Man,
this is it.

Speaker 2 (30:02):
And if you talk to Demo, he'll tell you how
excited he is to join that team now, hungry they are,
so again, two sides to every story. That being said,
I think Deebo's got more juice. DeVante Adams played for
Danny G's Raiders just a year ago. I think it's
a push on Adams. He was on, he was on receiver.
It is a push on attitudes. I feel like Davante
and Debo not the cheeriest of wide receivers NFL. I

(30:26):
think there's a commonality there for sure, But I feel
like DeVante Adams is one of those guys where and and.

Speaker 1 (30:32):
It's not the best trait.

Speaker 2 (30:33):
And again I don't know him personally, so this could
all be bs, but I feel like he's one of
those guys we know these friends and we've been a
relationships with people where when things are good, they're happy.

Speaker 1 (30:43):
When things are bad, they get all sour.

Speaker 2 (30:45):
And I feel like, in a good situation, if DeVante
Adams was on the Niners and they were winning, don't
you feel like Devanta Adams all of a sudden, he's cheery
and happy Devanta Adams, Yeah, but he has a sour
shoes on right now, like Davante Sadams, Yeah, more like
Sadams Good one, Sam, Sam, Sam Sam.

Speaker 8 (31:06):
Yeah, Rich Adams is going to have to be okay
with taking a pay cut because you know, no team's
gonna want to shell out what was it, thirty six
million dollars or whatever the Jets would have been on
the hook for.

Speaker 2 (31:16):
I just feel like, you know, if McCaffrey's back in action,
Kittle wants to remain a nine or he will. And
if you got Ayuk, Jennings, pierceal and you had a
veteran like Davante, that's a pretty solid core of receivers.

Speaker 1 (31:29):
I just I wonder if happy.

Speaker 2 (31:32):
Davante would take a pay cut to go to the
forty nine ers. It's an interesting you would hope you
at home. And I only said the Niners because he
said West Coast and the Niners to now have a
a void to fill a little bit. Right now, I
have an NBA question I want to end. So the Rams,
I mean, that is true, that's another landing. I don't
see that as much of a fit though, But so
there's an opening since Jimmy Butler joined the Golden State Warriors, Yeah,

(31:58):
they've been streaking eaten too. Yep, since Luca joined the Lakers.
I believe eleven and two are the two since Ad
joined the Mavericks. Oh boy, oh no nightmare. By the way, though,
when Dan Byer was reading his update on that and
he's saying Kyrie's out for the season most likely, right, yeah,

(32:18):
acl surgery? Does that take heat and pressure off of
a d well you heard the other rumor story he
said they made just shut him down?

Speaker 1 (32:26):
Now yeah, so I mean, why why would you? And
how do you look at that?

Speaker 2 (32:30):
Like they made that move and his whole season's a
bust as a result. Happened with the Kyrie thing would
have happened like the whole story is kind of odd.

Speaker 1 (32:39):
But all these injuries ridiculous? Is it that the storyline?

Speaker 7 (32:42):
Though?

Speaker 2 (32:42):
When most teams lose their like more than one star
player like that, you think it takes some pressure off
of add they really threw this season away?

Speaker 8 (32:49):
Is when it comes to yeah, just in that case,
you're right, But also we know Ad is a competitor
and how much he fought to stay on the court
all last season, and you know he he has a
chip on.

Speaker 1 (33:00):
His shoulder too. What's the point?

Speaker 8 (33:03):
No, I feel you on that, but I mean there
would have been pressure. You're right, there would have been
pressure on Ad to come back and help them lock
up one of the playoff spots, because, as Bayer said,
they're in the tenth seed right now.

Speaker 2 (33:15):
Dude, reference my team that I was just talking about
in football last year, a Yuk out for the year,
McCaffrey out for the year. When you lose the Pro
Bowl star players on your team more than one of them,
like one one star is gone, you could try to
pivot and be like, well, what could we do? It's
just sometimes it's like destiny, like this is just.

Speaker 1 (33:33):
Not the year. When Trent Williams wrong.

Speaker 2 (33:35):
When Trent a Yuk McCaffrey. Everyone's down it's my yeah.

Speaker 8 (33:39):
Don't don't you think Ad has something to prove right
now as well, though, because everybody's been talking about Luca
and how much motivation he has, but they're they're forgetting
about Anthony Davis and his competitive.

Speaker 1 (33:50):
I think he has a lot to prove.

Speaker 2 (33:51):
He's being downplayed because of how sad they are about
Luca and seeing how well he's doing in LA.

Speaker 1 (33:57):
Yeah, I do think he has a lot to prove.
I just don't think it's happening now. I'm just saying.

Speaker 2 (34:00):
When you look at the NBA Western Conference now, yeah,
and you see the Golden State Warriors, they're now in
the sixth seed, which means no playing nonsense, Like if
the season ended today, they're the sixth seed. They proceed
Lakers the two seed. Are those two teams with the
adjustments they made. And even steven A not only did

(34:20):
he apologize to the boxer, uh so they.

Speaker 1 (34:25):
The mount Roach. I apologize to our brother. He apologized
to Jimmy Butler for not thinking that would be an
impact move. And right now you might look at as sorry,
I'm sorry, Jimmy.

Speaker 2 (34:36):
You might look at a Western Conference where the Lakers,
the Warriors, a dominant OKC, and maybe throw the Nuggets
in there for good measure.

Speaker 1 (34:43):
That might be.

Speaker 2 (34:44):
Those might be your four Western Conference teams and the
return of oh wait, Golden State and the Lakers. But
is it really the Jimmy Butlers and the Lucas that
are making the impact. They are by default, because you
could make the argument that they lit the fire of
Steph Curry and Lebron James. That's really what happened. You
rejuvenated the old guys. It's the Colin Cowhert theory. Got

(35:05):
to give credit where it's due. It's the young blood
inspiring the old guys to step their game up to
remind everybody that they're still the guy. And that happens
just by default. Yeah, you know, you see Rich get
real competitive.

Speaker 1 (35:18):
This is true. I swear to god.

Speaker 2 (35:19):
Rich doesn't even realize he's doing it. But if a
young handsome guy walks into the party, Rich really wants
to show that he still has the game and the
charm and the riz, and all of a sudden, Rich
comes to life and he's like, I'm the most charismatic,
handsome guy in the room. It's just your instinct, dude, Like,
if you're the guy, and then other people are like, oh,
maybe Jimmy Muler's the guy.

Speaker 1 (35:38):
Steph Curry's like, Nah, hold up, I'm the guy.

Speaker 2 (35:41):
Well, if Luca's the guy, Lebron's like, hold up, wait
a second, I'm the guy. And I think that's what
we're seeing here too, a little mix of everything. But
it's not necessarily those moves. It's the oh geez stepping up. Well,
I'm thankful that you acknowledge that about me. It's a
weird it's a weird trait, dude. It's so oddly competitive.
I think it's a great trait. Yeah, but there on

(36:02):
the tour you're at a party. There's a difference. I
just want to make sure everyone knows.

Speaker 3 (36:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (36:06):
All right, Hey, we got more Coveno on Rich Next

(37:03):
hit me up, like, dude, you were thinking of the
MythBusters Earlier I mentioned John Brincis and Sports Science. I
was trying to think of the other dudes, the MythBusters,
those dudes now, Rich, Yeah, buddy, do you know what
the no Leaf Clover is that Metallica sings.

Speaker 1 (37:18):
About the no Leaf Clover? Metallica has a song called
No Leaf Clover.

Speaker 2 (37:23):
I Do not tell me all about it, stud think
about it bad Luck? Yeah, right before leaf clover is
good Luck. I would imagine a no Leaf Clover is
like terrible luck.

Speaker 1 (37:33):
Boo bam. Rich, what album is this?

Speaker 2 (37:35):
From the Black album Don't I'm just naming Edny that
was before. So no leaf Clover is the opposite of
good luck. You're right, so having bad luck. And you
heard Dan Byer, you heard the story today, you saw
the highlight last night Kyrie tore his acl is painful, sad,

(37:57):
but it was inspiring, it was all moving. Fans were
up on their feet. But ever since Ad got traded,
it's been downhill. I mean, since Luca got traded. Mass
fans have been going through it. In twenty twenty five,
people are chanting, you know, thank you Nico at Lakers games.

Speaker 1 (38:16):
It's so embarrassing they haven't did.

Speaker 2 (38:18):
The Mavericks even pivoted in another weird way where they
raise ticket prices and it's like, and.

Speaker 1 (38:22):
You're raising ticket prizes. But it actually started.

Speaker 2 (38:25):
If you go through the timeline, on January fourteenth, Derek
Lively suffered an ankle fracture. Right then February first, the
Mavericks trade Luca, and you're like, what everybody freaked out
about that? Mavericks fans devastated, and I think we're seeing

(38:47):
like the impact was greater than anyone would have thought.
The fans are really upset. By this whole thing protesting
a lot of pressure on Ad, a lot of pressure
on Nico Harrison.

Speaker 1 (39:00):
I mean it felt big.

Speaker 2 (39:01):
We were in Vegas when it happened, and you heard
the murmurs through the whole casino, like Luca like whispers.

Speaker 1 (39:08):
I think.

Speaker 10 (39:10):
So.

Speaker 2 (39:10):
Again, that was February first, the MAVs trade Luca for Ad.

Speaker 1 (39:15):
On the eighth.

Speaker 2 (39:16):
February eighth, Ad strains his abductor in the Mavericks debut.

Speaker 1 (39:21):
What second quarter you started a third quarter? Started a
third quarter, but fir two.

Speaker 2 (39:25):
Yeah, the first two were really like whoa man automatic
Gelin like Magellan Chrys there.

Speaker 8 (39:31):
He and Kyrie looked really great together. One of the
reasons why is because Ad doesn't need the ball in
his hands as much, and so Kyrie was obviously handling
the ball a ton because no more Luca on the team.

Speaker 2 (39:43):
Yeah, and you're gonna see great defense. It was great chemistry.
They always wanted a ball together. And again strains's abductor.
He's out on the tenth Daniel Gafford springs is mcl
and then yesterday the third Kyrie tears the ACL and
you probably get no a D return And as a result,
so everything has been down hill. It's like Nico Harrison's

(40:05):
no good, terrible, horrible, very bad year to every move
he made was bad and the team has been crumbling since.
So they went from contenders to like, yeah, I don't
even think we're gonna play anymore. So just some bad
luck all around. Rechie makes you think, have you been
to a streak that bad? Have you seen a.

Speaker 1 (40:22):
Streak that bad?

Speaker 2 (40:23):
I think personally, I think in relationships and life and work,
we've all been through our hot and cultreats. But I
remember dating a woman once where everyone in her life
things started happening to oh yeah, I left because I
was like, I'm not next. Like every everyone she knew
was like, oh they got a fender bender. Oh, her
dad got sick, her brother got arrested for weed, her dog,

(40:44):
everyone in her life something was happening. I'm like out
see sorry, all right, well listen, we'll see you tomorrow.
Have a great Tuesday Night's
