I don't care about warnings.
Speaker 1 (00:34):
I'm gonna do it. Don't do it, no finger guns?
Speaker 3 (00:37):
No, you tell me not to do it. I'm gonna
do it.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
Nfg G Isaac, You're gone, Isaac's gone.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
Isaac, find five dollars. You've been fined five dollars. That's equivalent, right, Hey.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
Moran's Are you gonna do the finger gun gesture against
the heats? Are you gonna do the finger gun gesture
against the heat? I think yes, jaw yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
Job yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
Are you gonna go to the first quarter and I'm
meaningless three point shot?
Speaker 3 (01:05):
Yes, job, Joe absolutely, Jo yeah, yes.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
It really is.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
With Isaac mentioning the Jah Moran story him getting fined
seventy five grand by the NBA today, it's funny Mancy
because we're sitting in for Cavino and Rich who were
in for Colin Cowherd on The Herd earlier today. We
encourage you to check out their podcast go to Fox
Sports Radio dot com. If you're maybe getting out of
work thinking and you're gonna hear the guys, don't worry.
(01:44):
You still can and you can go to Fox Sports
Radio and hear the podcast. But we also want you
to hang with us for the next two hours or so.
Why not yesterday as I was sitting where Isaac Lowancron
was sitting at the news desk and you ended up
following me. Last night, we're talking about the Final four
and we're getting things ready for the Final four. And
when I was on the Doug Gottlieb Show with Doug Gottlieb.
(02:05):
I just said to Doug this this talk of Bruce
Pearl and Calvin Samson. They're not bad guys, they're not
bad coaches, but they do have blemishes on their resume
for NCAA infractions. And we look back and we say
too many phone calls or a barbecue here, and it
seems frivolous. But the point remains is if you knew
(02:25):
the rule and you knew you weren't supposed to do it,
it doesn't matter what the actual rule is, don't break it.
So it's not that Calvin Sampson and Bruce Pearl are
bad guys, but if you wanted to call them rule breakers,
I think that would fit. And now here we are
with John Morants. In what a week it has been.
(02:46):
By the way, this is completely overshadowed how good Jaw
has been. Because you fired your coach. You now have
a finger gun controversy that was taken to the next
level last night in Miami when less than twenty four
hours after he was given a warning to not do
the finger gun gesture, Jahn Morant ends up doing it
(03:07):
in the first quarter in a win against the Miami Heat.
By the way, in a game where he hits the
game winning shot that we're not even talking about, right, I.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
Actually forgot about that.
Speaker 4 (03:16):
Yes, you're so right. I forgot that he hit the
game winner. He didn't just do it once. He did
it again.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
I saw it at least twice. And I just want
to know why, jaw, like, why do we do this?
Speaker 4 (03:30):
Because the eyes are on you for this particular reason.
If another player does it, I'm sorry, it's not the same.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
So people are keeping an eye on you for this,
and you get a warning.
Speaker 4 (03:42):
And twenty four twenty four hours later, he said, hold
my beer, I watch this.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
It was Manzi. He hit the game winner. And you
know what he did. He didn't do finger guys, Yeah
he didn't. He didn't pretend to shoot down the entire
Miami Heat bench. He didn't shoot random strays into the crowd.
You know what he did. He got on his phone
and call me called game. You know, put a phone
gesture up. That is another element of it where he
(04:08):
knows exactly what he is doing. And I know that
there's a conversation, and there was a conversation that happened
earlier today in the Dan Patrick Show that said Jahn
Morant has been doing this all season long.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
Maybe he has and we.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
Just haven't seen it because the games aren't nationally televised.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
Correct, But.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
On the week of the beginning of the first week
of April, he was told by the NBA, all right,
let's end it. This is it ends now. If it's
gone on for the rest of the season, that's fine.
If it's something where the NBA is saying, all right,
they're going to be in the playoffs. This is a
team that we could see on national TV a bunch,
we don't necessarily want that look going on. I get
(04:48):
it from that perspective. Maybe doesn't Maybe they should have
done something with it sooner. But I'm not going to
sit there and jump all over the NBA about it.
I just can't believe that John Morant would do it
and do it so quickly. Mantzi just because it's in defiance.
It's not that I forgot. It's he's sending a message
to Adam Silver in the NBA saying that you can
find me whatever you want. I'm not gonna change my ways, right.
Speaker 4 (05:10):
And it's just awkward for Adam Silver, right, I mean,
we all already think that Adam Silver kind of gets
walked all over by the players.
Speaker 3 (05:17):
They run this league. He doesn't.
Speaker 4 (05:19):
Nobody is scared of him, and joh doing this is
daring him to do something beyond finding him seventy five
thousand dollars.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
That's nothing.
Speaker 4 (05:29):
John doesn't care about that, And I honestly, I'm just waiting.
People are gonna tune into the next Grizzlies game to
see if he does it again, and then they're gonna say, Okay,
what is Adam Silver gonna do here? And Adam Silver
is gonna be put in a position that's gonna make
it more. You've already been suspended, so then what's the
next step another suspension going into the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (05:47):
The Grizzlies are right now what six pots.
Speaker 4 (05:50):
It's a tight race in the Western car It's a
very tight race. They can move up and down in.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
This this last week.
Speaker 4 (05:56):
But it's like, why, Joe, why are you doing this
In a week where I've heard Rob Parker.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
Say that Zion Williamson is a bust.
Speaker 4 (06:05):
I'm like, Jaw, you're a bust at this point because
I don't know how long your career is going to go.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
That's the thing that is frustrating is because there are injuries.
There are no doubt that there are injuries that you
look at with John and you say, Okay, I hope
he can stay healthy, just like there is with Zion Williamson,
of course. But I would think that Jaws had the better,
you know, like there's there's something there when he comes
back and he's playing for the team, when he's not
suspended for his silly actions, or if he's not injured
(06:32):
like he is, he's been really good. Zion's been really
good too, But I just think that there's there's something there.
There's something more with John Morant, and I don't know
if he's I don't know if if if he wants
out of Memphis, because this would be the wrong way
to go about it.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
In my mind.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
If you want to if you wanted to move on,
if you wanted to go somewhere else to do finger guns,
Memphis is the perfect spot because maybe you're winning and
we aren't always talking about you or aren't always seeing you.
But if you were to do this as a Laker
or as a Golden State Warrior like last night on TNT, yeah,
it's just not flying and it has to be. It
(07:13):
just has to be. This bit of defiance. I don't
know if this is also a separation of Now Adam
Silver and at least this particular player are separating in
a way because we've always felt that Adam Silver, the commissioner,
was on the side of the players and going back.
I don't know if this is a sign that maybe
that's fractured. But there is just something weird with the
(07:35):
defiance of John Morant to do it immediately, almost to
say immediately, I threaten you or I dare you.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
I dare you.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
Adam Silver and Joe Dumars and everyone in the NBA
front office, So what next?
Speaker 4 (07:48):
You've been suspended and you've been fined, And it doesn't
seem like he wants out of Memphis. He seems like
he loves Memphis right like that. There's never been an
indication aside from why are you literally doing what you're
not supposed to be doing. You're being told to stop
doing this multiple times, and it comes off very immature,
(08:09):
very childish, and it's just kind of like, I don't
I don't know how long it's gonna fly for how
long you can let that fly for.
Speaker 1 (08:17):
I think it flies longer. I because here's here's the
deal is this.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
Is I think we're in a different climate than we
were a few years ago, and I think that we
look at it and be like, okay, all right, what's
the what's the deal with the finger guns?
Speaker 5 (08:34):
Right?
Speaker 2 (08:35):
I mean it's to suspend someone. I mean we had
a brawl less than a week ago between the Timberwolves
and Pistons, Yes we did, and we had a two
game suspension for Isaiah Stewart and everybody else got a
one game. How are you going to ban finger guns?
You don't penalize him when the most you gave on
(08:55):
that situation of players fighting each other is two games.
Speaker 4 (08:58):
Well obviously, but there's a history of him being on
Instagram live with It's it's not as black and white,
you know. It's like there's a history here. I give you,
That's what I'm saying. Like somebody else could do the
finger pointing, the gesture. It's not gonna hold the same
weight if he does it. And it's like it's he
there's no way he doesn't know that. That's how it's like,
you're being so defiant, so childish. But it's like there's
(09:23):
a lot of this is your career, and there's so
much money and you could have years at this and
to risk it.
Speaker 3 (09:28):
I don't get it. To risk your career being cut
short over what being funny, over being.
Speaker 4 (09:34):
Defiant over a couple of people telling you just to
you didn't do anything.
Speaker 3 (09:38):
You know, Like, I don't get it.
Speaker 4 (09:40):
You could be doing this for the next ten years,
but if you keep this up, I don't see that happening.
And then you're gonna be a footnote when it comes
to you know, this draft class, Like we're gonna be
talking still about Zion's injuries and Tyler Hero with Miami
Heat instead of you.
Speaker 2 (09:56):
I think I get where you're coming from. Where, Okay,
the fine didn't work, You're gonna do finger guns again.
Now we're gonna suspend you do finger games finger guns again.
We're gonna suspend you even more. And I don't think
that the NBA wants to do that.
Speaker 3 (10:14):
I don't think so.
Speaker 2 (10:15):
I don't think that they will do that. And there's
gonna be at some point some argument with the union.
But it goes back to the fact of how childish
is this. Where to your point, why are you risking
all of this to be able to pretend to shoot
(10:35):
finger guns? Yeah, this is By the way, the Guinness
Book of World Records world record for most time finger
guns is said in a twelve minute span.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
I felt like I've said it nineteen.
Speaker 4 (10:46):
Times, Manzi we have We're not done either, But how
how like.
Speaker 2 (10:51):
Think about this? Ja Moran unavailable for game four Games
one through.
Speaker 4 (10:55):
Four because of a gun play of his finger guns.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
It sounds absurd, It sounds ridiculous, and I think that's
what Jo's playing off of of Like all right, Daria, Daria,
the NBA in trying to suspend me for this. What
I what I just don't understand is because it's like
I tell my three year old son, Hins, pick up
your toys. Pick up your toys. Pick up your toys.
(11:25):
Why are there five more toys out than there were
five minutes ago? Pick up your toys. You have to
go to bed, pick up your toys. I don't want more,
Dinad and immediately just in my face, blatantly pulling them
out of the toy chest. He's he's basically faring me,
shooting me down in my discipline. And that's what I
(11:48):
feel that John Morant is doing. It's I don't want
to compare him to a three year old but it
is immature actions, immature act and that's where and that's
the part that I just can't get off of of.
It's it's ridiculous, it's absurd, it's a big fine, it's
the whole deal. But at what point are you just like,
all right, I got to grow up a little bit.
(12:10):
I'm twenty five years old, I've been in the league
long enough, I've got a huge contract, I'm I'm a
young star. This is gonna hurt me more than it's
gonna help me.
Speaker 4 (12:18):
And you know, at one point, John Morant really had
the opportunity to possibly be the next face of the league.
Speaker 3 (12:24):
He really did.
Speaker 4 (12:26):
He had explosive skill out on the court, even though
remember that one time he was like I'm not gonna
dunk anymore.
Speaker 3 (12:31):
Because of injury.
Speaker 4 (12:32):
Everybody got real sad like he had the potential to
actually be one of the faces of the NBA. And
I feel like his career has taken has not taken
a step back, but is being like held back because
of all of these actions and the timing of it.
It's just the time you get a warning and then
the next opportunity.
Speaker 3 (12:54):
You do it again. Yes, it is like your three
year old son.
Speaker 1 (12:58):
It's it's it's absurd.
Speaker 2 (13:00):
I would have to imagine if I'm a police officer
and I pull someone over for speeding and then.
Speaker 3 (13:06):
You're give them a ticket.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
Yeah, I give them.
Speaker 2 (13:07):
A ticket, they leave, I file the ticket, and then
two miles later, another cop has pulled them over, like
you would. You would be the same. It's the same
thing of like, what are you doing? How do you
not get the message now unless that person is I
dare to get two tickets from the same.
Speaker 3 (13:24):
Demardment if I can do it in one hour.
Speaker 2 (13:25):
But man, it's it sure feels like it's a it's
a game for job morant. At some point it's not
going to be funny. But I just don't think that
the NBA can really do anything in this whole situation
because suspending him seven games, including playoff games because of
Bang bang like it like, it's it's stupid, it's silly.
Speaker 4 (13:43):
You're right, the NBA can't do anything, but they have
to write. Just because they can't doesn't mean they're not
going to. And I feel like that's the tough position
that Adam Silver is being put in.
Speaker 3 (13:54):
Because he is daring him.
Speaker 4 (13:56):
But there there has to be something We can't keep
going back and forth with a warning and a fine
and one game suspension like that's that's just a joke,
and it'll make Adam silver Lick even more like he
has no spine.
Speaker 1 (14:08):
Jason Stewart's our executive producer.
Speaker 5 (14:10):
Yeah, I agree with Manzy. I think that you're not
really punishing him for finger guns at this point. You're
you're punishing him for what's the what's the word, not
misbehaving or being belligerent or insubordinate. I guess it's corrigible.
It's multiple things. And now you're mocking him. It's like,
uh so you take your brody example. You also hear
(14:32):
this in the airport from others. It's like, you do
that one more time, and you're in trouble, mister, and
then time out and and and then at the kid
does something just brazen and cocky because he doesn't care
about the deterrent.
Speaker 2 (14:47):
Manzi, you don't have children. I was saying, you don't
have children, Isaac, Jason and I do. And you don't
know the pressure of saying what Jason says in public
and then having your bluff called.
Speaker 3 (15:01):
Oh I've seen it with my friends and my brother.
Speaker 2 (15:03):
But you don't know the pressure of what he's going
through your mind of all right, now he's making me payout.
Speaker 1 (15:10):
I have to either pay off way this off.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
And you know, I'm not gonna I'm not gonna make
a scene in public, but I can't just let him
get away with it and walk over me and let
everybody in groups you know, three, four and five be
laughing at me because I can't keep my son in place,
and then they're wondering what's gonna happen on this flight.
Speaker 1 (15:30):
There is so much pressure in trying to get it right.
Speaker 2 (15:33):
So if that's what Adam Silver and Joe Dumars are
feeling right now, their Friday sucks, yes, and.
Speaker 3 (15:38):
Their weekend is gonna suck.
Speaker 1 (15:40):
Nic It's true.
Speaker 4 (15:41):
I mean, I love this, this example of kids because
you see, I don't have it, but I see it
in public when somebody does try to be stern with
their kids and the kid is, you know, smiling and
smirking and they're about to do something, and you do
have to stand your ground as the parent. Adam Silver,
I don't see you having any other option but standing
(16:03):
your ground as the parent. I just don't know what
the next step is bigger fine, a bigger fine.
Speaker 3 (16:10):
No, it's got to be like, yeah, what is it.
Speaker 4 (16:15):
Fine, You're going into the playoffs a one game suspension
for the first game of the playoffs, and that seems
like people aren't going to be happy about that.
Speaker 1 (16:25):
No, no, not at all.
Speaker 2 (16:26):
And they're right now sitting there in the right at
the borderline, right at the cost of the playing tournament.
Speaker 3 (16:31):
Right. No, listen, it would help the Clippers.
Speaker 2 (16:33):
It's and again it's it's not the actual action, as
you said, and as Jason said, and it's why I
pointed out with the Calvin Samson and Bruce Pearl examples
of we look back at those things and be like, yeah,
it's stupid. No, the real portion is, especially in Calvin
Samson's situation, was he was told you can't do this again.
This is actually why you got fired from your old job.
(16:54):
We're giving you a second chance at this new job.
But there is no strike two or three. There's a
strike one, and strike one you're out. And that's what happened.
Speaker 1 (17:03):
And he did it again, and so then you're like, well,
I don't have any empathy or sympathy.
Speaker 2 (17:06):
For you exactly because you knew the rules and you
knew what was going on, but you still chose to
do it.
Speaker 1 (17:11):
And that's where John Moran comes.
Speaker 2 (17:14):
I don't know who he's doing it for, Like who
is like, you know, I didn't really care about the Grizzlies,
and then he started pretend shooting that gun like after
he like like what, Like I just I don't understand it.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
And the Grizzlies like I you know, as a Clipper fan,
there were years where.
Speaker 4 (17:28):
The Grizzlies were are they were our main competition, and
they were tough, you know, Zach Randolph like they were
a tough to Tony Allen, a tough, gritty team. And
so it's like the Grizzlies don't need you to pretend
to be a tough guy. The Grizzlies have a history
of reality exactly, like you don't.
Speaker 3 (17:48):
Need to do this. It makes no sense.
Speaker 5 (17:51):
It feels like it's a small group of people, maybe
including his father, that he's trying to impress, like, look,
I'm going to stay on my ground. It's kind of
like when I hear like those people with their mufflers off,
like going down the highway, and I'm like, who's being
served by this? His buddies that are like, dude, that's
super cool. Yeah, And that's the only people he's trying
(18:14):
to impress right now is that small group.
Speaker 4 (18:17):
Which is sad because what was the advice when this
first came out. It's like, hey, that close group of people.
You have the second video that came out with him
with the gun again, it was like, separate yourself from
these people. Because if my best friend was a professional athlete,
let me tell you what. The first thing I'm gonna
do is tackle him. When he starts doing the gestures
(18:37):
with his fingers, I'll.
Speaker 3 (18:38):
Be like, bro, stop it, stop it. You have too
much to gain and so much to lose. Stop.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
You know.
Speaker 2 (18:44):
It's funny because the Gilbert Arenas Javaris Crittendon Washington Wizard
situation over a decade ago, and I've talked the players
who were on that Wizard's team, and to a man,
they said, I don't want to talk about this. We
don't want to talk about this because it then brings
everything up for everyone else, brings it up for Gilbert.
(19:06):
And I know Javars Crittin and has been through other stuff,
but like everybody that was involved, like everybody now is
everybody got to talk about it again. They weren't even
the ones like directly involved in all of this. You
mentioned John Morant in the gun video. We have the
gun situation with the teenager.
Speaker 1 (19:24):
We've got his I forgot about that. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (19:27):
At the basketball game, you've got the laser pointer.
Speaker 3 (19:31):
At the pastor people on the car.
Speaker 1 (19:33):
Yeah. Like it's like, I mean, strike strike nine.
Speaker 3 (19:37):
It's like a cat cat lives. Oh my goodness, how
many does he have left? But I just don't think
he has many.
Speaker 1 (19:43):
I just don't.
Speaker 2 (19:43):
I don't think that that the NBA had no pun intended.
But they don't really have many weapons to fight with.
I mean, I don't it's I don't know. They should
just fingergun him back. I don't know he's I'm dead buyer.
Jason Stewart's here. Find him at Jason Stewart. I always
say I'm hanging on on a frond Iowa, Sam under
nine and Isaac Low and cron Is at the news desk.

Speaker 3 (20:51):
I stopped looking at my bracket.
Speaker 1 (20:53):
Well there's only three games left.
Speaker 3 (20:55):
Yeah, no, I stopped looking at it.
Speaker 2 (20:57):
I had some stock in Texas Tech. Okay, oh so close,
nine point lead to three minutes to go. That really
would have helped me in the Fox Sports Radio Bracket Challenge,
but I got red raided by the Gators. That is
that is the case.
Speaker 3 (21:12):
You didn't have the Gators going I.
Speaker 1 (21:14):
Had Texas Tech beating them. Wow, they almost did.
Speaker 4 (21:18):
They did seven minutes, No, they did. That was a
crazy game. They were down what nine and three minutes
to go.
Speaker 1 (21:24):
Yeah, that's what I just said. Yes, sorry, it's been.
Speaker 3 (21:27):
So many games. I had to like go back to
the moment of that game. Yes, you're right, Oh, that
just said.
Speaker 1 (21:33):
Sorry, I had to go back to it.
Speaker 3 (21:35):
It's been a while, it's been It's a lot of games.
It's a lot of games.
Speaker 2 (21:40):
I know that Doug Doug is Doug Gottlieb on the
network has been breaking and always only got three games wrong.
We looked at his bracket. Doug is in first, but
he actually has eight games wrong.
Speaker 3 (21:51):
So okay. Yes, I also.
Speaker 1 (21:54):
Bernie Frattle kicking some butt as well. He's up there.
Speaker 4 (21:57):
If you decided to just go with the favorites, you
probably did, okay, sure, you know, like and that was
my problem.
Speaker 3 (22:04):
You probably were fine.
Speaker 4 (22:05):
Like the problem was like I had a high point,
you know, getting there, not there, but I had high point,
and then I think I had them winning the second
game too, Like that was my Cinderella story and it
just didn't go well for me from that point on.
Speaker 1 (22:21):
What it was actually your low point of the tournament.
Speaker 3 (22:23):
You're right at the start. That's the worst part.
Speaker 2 (22:26):
Thank you. I was saying, all right, thank you very much,
Isaac Low and pron find Monty at Monte Bolanio son X.
You can find me at Dan Byer on Fox or
on Blue Sky at Dan Bayer. I'll get to the
Blue Sky stuff in the second. I was gonna read
some tweets and then I'm like, you know what, I'm
not reading. Anybody who has a profile picture of a
Dog's not gonna happen. Because one guy was criticizing us.
But then Jerry says, listening as always, Jacet hit the
(22:49):
nail on the head, and we did what Jo has done.
We would be looking for work the next day. At minimum,
he should receive a two year unpaid suspension. But because
Jerry also has a dog as his profile picture, I
have to read what Machine wrote. I don't think that's
his real name or her real name. But I'm just
guessing the reason Joh keeps doing this stuff is because
the media keeps making excuses for him and other athletes
(23:12):
in the similar situations you all are too. Right now,
I don't know what excuse we made. I don't think
that we made any excuse whatsoever for him excuse but
exqueeze me.
Speaker 1 (23:23):
I didn't think we did.
Speaker 3 (23:24):
Thanks for listening.
Speaker 2 (23:25):
Yeah, he did say he heard an analyst actually say
maybe he doesn't know better.
Speaker 1 (23:28):
No, we know that he knows. He knows.
Speaker 2 (23:31):
That's why he did it last night in the first
quarter and then do it with the games of the
line and his mind's going crazy because he just hit
the game winner, because that's not where his mind was.
He wasn't thinking about it. He knows exactly what he's doing.
Speaker 4 (23:41):
And if he doesn't know after everything that has happened,
then we have a separate conversation to be having with.
Speaker 3 (23:45):
John Rant Absolutely if he doesn't know.
Speaker 2 (23:49):
Lebron James keeps to me having conversations with the media.
You loved what he said last night, and mean what
I mean by loved you couldn't stand it?
Speaker 4 (24:00):
It's that I you know, I'm just I don't even
know if I it was that I couldn't stand it.
Speaker 3 (24:04):
I think I laughed when I heard him.
Speaker 4 (24:07):
Say this, because I just was like, are we do
you hear yourself what you're saying? We have the sound
right like this is after the game against again the
Lake lost lost to the Warriors in LA and this
is a little bit of the post game that he
had to say.
Speaker 7 (24:24):
I mean, I've been a part of them making big
acquisitions to change their dynamic at their team before that
had to go against someone they added Kevin Durant. So me,
Jimmy Butters is great, and you know he's as a
toughness to him. He adds a championship DNA type of guy.
It's always the same. They always figure it out. They
(24:44):
always add somebody that makes the dynamic.
Speaker 4 (24:47):
They always add someone who makes it dynamic.
Speaker 3 (24:51):
My guy, you just added Luka Dancic.
Speaker 4 (24:53):
You just added arguably top three best player in the
world to your team. And here you are saying the
Warriors always do this, adding a dynamic player who you know,
I love me some Jimmy Buckets.
Speaker 3 (25:08):
I love Jimmy Butler. He is great.
Speaker 4 (25:10):
To say that he and Luca are even comparable, probably not.
Speaker 3 (25:16):
And I love Jimmy. And what's even funnier if you look.
Speaker 4 (25:20):
At Jimmy's statline pedestrian, he did not do much.
Speaker 2 (25:24):
Seven from the floor, eleven points, four rebounds to assist
in three steals.
Speaker 4 (25:29):
And why because he's there to help facilitate other things.
Absolutely help Draymond on the defensive side, help Curry get open.
Curry had a great game. Pajemski, Brandon Pejemski also had
a great game.
Speaker 3 (25:42):
But it was like what.
Speaker 4 (25:43):
He did wasn't this, Oh my god, look at the
performance that Jimmy Butler did in order for us to
lose at home against the Warriors.
Speaker 3 (25:51):
It wasn't him. He wasn't the reason that they won.
Speaker 4 (25:54):
And so it's just so funny because not only did
you just have Luka Dancic, you had Keaven Durant. You
have been surrounded by star players your most of your career,
and here you are kind of complaining that the Warriors
got Jimmy Bucket.
Speaker 2 (26:11):
Here's where I don't think it's apples to apples is
when he's comparing the addition of Jimmy Butler with the
addition of Kevin Durant, Right, like Jimmy Butler, Yeah, you
like him more than I do.
Speaker 3 (26:23):
Yes, I like him more than a lot of people.
Speaker 2 (26:24):
I will say that he's fitting very well. He really
hasn't has rough feathers. To your point, last night, wasn't
the reason why they won was because of pajem Ski
was because of Kaminga. Moses Moody played well for them
last night. In fact, Steph's plus minus is actually negative,
as crazy as that was.
Speaker 4 (26:42):
And yeah, he didn't shoot the ball well from three,
even though he was a little looving.
Speaker 2 (26:46):
Yes, but the stretch in the fourth quarter where it
felt like they were, you know, trading three's big moment, ye,
but they were able to keep him at arm's length.
I felt it was almost an opportunity for Lebron to
remind us on how bogus it was that the Warriors
got Kevin Durant and that it probably cost him championships
(27:07):
at that point, because to your point, it wasn't that
it was Jimmy Butler's great game, even though the question
was about Jimmy Butler and how he was incorporating himself
with the Warriors. To your point, he wasn't. He wasn't
a huge factor last night. But I wonder if Lebron's
ulterior motive in bringing up they always do that because
they've tried. They've tried to bring in D'Angelo Russell didn't
(27:30):
work out. You know, there have been other players they've
tried to refresh and do things different, and it hasn't
panned out. And now you have these young players who
are actually making strides without Klay Thompson being there, and
it is a different look. And now you can bring
in Jimmy Butler, So it's not apples to apples in
that situation. I just felt like Lebron wanted to take
the opportunity to tell us Son he should have more
(27:51):
rings if it wasn't for Kevin Durant signing with Golden State.
Speaker 4 (27:54):
And also how about telling us already that it seems
like you think you're going to lose to the Warriors
in a seven game series, Like that's already sounding like
defeat to me.
Speaker 3 (28:02):
Well, yeah, they do this. I've had to deal with this.
Speaker 1 (28:06):
Yeah, they haven't been playing well.
Speaker 3 (28:08):
They haven't they.
Speaker 4 (28:08):
And the Warriors have been playing well with Jimmy like
the Laker Luca Lebron, you know hype that we everyone
saw how many they.
Speaker 3 (28:17):
Win in a row seven I think or something.
Speaker 4 (28:18):
Yeah, and then it kind of like dipped and like
they haven't really been playing as together as well as
the Warriors. But this seemed also like a foreshadowing in
case we lose, Remember I told you they do this.
They add dynamic players and I'm just laying, you know,
in case we lose to them.
Speaker 2 (28:33):
I just immediately said, yeah, I don't know if they
won seven in a row, but it sounded good.
Speaker 1 (28:37):
They did win a bunch of games, ag, I think
something like that. But they do have one of the
worst records.
Speaker 2 (28:41):
We just saw graphic on an NBA TV while we
were in the studio at a little while ago. I
think they're six and nine in their last fifteen and
I feel that the more that you watch Luca play,
the more that you're seeing maybe why Nico Harrison ended
up making a move. I mean, there was a point
last night where Draymond stripped.
Speaker 3 (28:59):
Them of the such a good and he didn't even complain.
That's how good it was. Luca flops and complains all
the time. He didn't even do anything. He was like,
damn he.
Speaker 2 (29:06):
That was the thing is he didn't even do anything.
Was like in terms of like complaining, but he also
didn't like immediately run back on defense.
Speaker 4 (29:14):
No, I know, you know, like and he was frustrated
at that point, yeah, and completely frustrated, And I think
that's part of it.
Speaker 2 (29:20):
That's ay, He's frustrated in the NBA Finals last year
and wants them to you know, he's committing fouls and
being lazy and yeah, like so the honeymoon is over.
But I think that we can realize that with the Lakers. Now,
what happens over the next uh, you know, week or
two for as the regular season wraps up, we'll really
see how this team ends up entering the playoffs, because
it doesn't seem like it's as feel good as it
(29:40):
was with Luca.
Speaker 4 (29:41):
It just seems like the Lakers are right because I
think at the beginning it was like, obviously, give Luca
the ball, right, like, let Luca run the show.
Speaker 3 (29:48):
And I feel like the Lakers don't know.
Speaker 4 (29:51):
If that's the approach that they want or if they
still want like Lebron running the show. And then you
have Austin Reeves who's great, Like, I just don't I
think they realized how to manage with Austin Reeves, who
is becoming his own star quote unquote.
Speaker 1 (30:09):
Yeah, I think I think that's.
Speaker 4 (30:11):
Shooting his veins, shooting up his veins, shooting shooting up
the ice in his veins.
Speaker 3 (30:17):
Veins.
Speaker 1 (30:18):
I said, it's shooting heroin.
Speaker 2 (30:20):
Yeah, that's he's.
Speaker 3 (30:22):
Not veins but it does look like he's shooting something.
Speaker 2 (30:25):
To listen to the names we talked about for the Warriors, Pajemski, Kaminga, Moody,
It wasn't all Curry, Butler and Green. And I think
with the Lakers is you are also going to need
other people aside from James, Doncicic and Reeves.
Speaker 4 (30:41):
Did you see the bench for the Lakers seven points yesterday?
Speaker 1 (30:44):
All right, Bronnie, time to step on.
Speaker 3 (30:46):
It, Sevin. We could have gone seven, four.

Speaker 1 (31:54):
Huge weekend in hoops.
Speaker 2 (31:57):
Not only we're gonna get some stuff in the NBA
Nuggets and Warriors tonight, it's also Women's Final four, but
it's also the men's Final four Saturday and Monday National
semifinals coming up tomorrow Auburn and Florida, followed by Duke
in Houston and then the championship game on Monday. And
(32:18):
I found this interesting, and this is highlighted in the
conversation that we actually had on air Wednesday on the
network as I was in with Ryan Hollins. We were
in for Doug Gottlieb and we were kind of going
in the way back machine doing some Final four memories
as part of the Midway segment that we do every Wednesday,
and we were talking about final four memories and Ryan
(32:40):
Hollins played in a Final four, and Ryan brought up
the point that there was a span from two thousand
and six to two thousand and eight where UCLA made
three straight final fours, but they were losers in the
national semifinals in seven and eight. Hollins's last year was six.
He was on the team that went to the national
championship game, and he points out that it's been, you know,
(33:03):
eighteen nineteen years since they made that run, and it's
been eighteen years since that span of final fours had occurred.
But he says, we don't get any we don't get
any hats on the back for winning a game at
the Final four, like they made it the championship Monday,
and it dawned on me that, yeah, we kind of
(33:26):
just bypass it like it's national champion in final four
and we completely skip over the fact that there is
actually a team there that wins a game. Ryan's like,
nobody ever talks about that, Nobody ever talks about our
win in the national semi finals. I was at the
game and I forgot. I think they played LSU. I
(33:47):
don't know, Isaac, you were there as well. Do they
beat LSU in that? Oh?
Speaker 4 (33:50):
They dominated LSU with a good Glen Davis and Tyres Thomas.
Speaker 2 (33:55):
But Tynda, yes, baby, yes, Jason Stewart obviously knows Tyros
Thomas well, who is an assistant on Doug Gottlieb's Green
Bay basketball team.
Speaker 1 (34:07):
Yes, it was.
Speaker 2 (34:08):
It just comes to this is the final four is
good enough? It's great to win a national champion. Yeah,
but for whatever three teams are left, it's still about
a final four. Like even Cooper Flag who's the Associated
Press College Basketball Player of the Year, it's going to
be the number one overall pick in the draft. If
they don't win it all, I think they will. But
(34:29):
if they don't win it all, I don't think it's
going to be a colossal waste. Like Zion didn't make
the final four in his one year at Duke. It
was a great year, but they lost in the Elite eight.
Getting to the final four is good enough, and very
few spots in life I think good enough is good
or augh, And at the final four it is and
(34:50):
I think that's what makes it actually kind of cool
and unique.
Speaker 3 (34:53):
And it is true, is it?
Speaker 4 (34:54):
Because you think after that, it's like anything can happen
in one game, because the semifinal in the champion is
still one game. It's not like best of three, best
of seven, and so it's like getting to the Final four, it's.
Speaker 3 (35:05):
Like from this point on it really is anyone's win.
Speaker 2 (35:09):
I think it's just the I think it's the branding
of the Final four. Okay, like of how we look
at it, like that is that is the destination? Yes,
now there are teams. All four teams have national championship aspirations.
There's no doubt about that, right, But I think the
way that we brand it in a way is unique.
(35:29):
And I just want to know, and I want to
hear from the listeners as well. Eight seven to seven,
nine to nine on Fox. That's eight seven seven nine
nine to six six six six three six'. Nine give
us a, call let us know if there are any
other spots where we're just good? Enough is good enough
any pop in your?
Speaker 3 (35:44):
MIND i, mean do The olympics? Count if you get bronze?
Speaker 2 (35:47):
Medal that is a Perfect that is a perfect recommendation
because you can say that you meddled in.
Speaker 4 (35:54):
Theals, yeah you didn't win, gold but if you, meddled
that's good.
Speaker 2 (35:58):
ENOUGH i wrestle WHEN i was in grade, school AND
i wanted a bronze so bad BECAUSE i had, GOLD
i had. Silver one' THAT i was the. Greatest but,
SURE i just didn't have bronze to complete the. Set
but it was so. Tricky you had to lose your second,
match but then you have to make sure that you
won in the third place. Match but just medaling Was,
yeah if you go to The olympics and you come
(36:20):
home with a, medal that is good. Enough in most,
countries it's even more than.
Speaker 3 (36:25):
Even more than Good, yeah but it's.
Speaker 4 (36:27):
Not, yeah it's not normal in Other i'm trying to
think of other situations where good enough is actually good.
Speaker 1 (36:33):
ENOUGH i thought maybe honor.
Speaker 3 (36:35):
Roll, okay, okay, like.
Speaker 1 (36:38):
Okay i'm not, valedictorian but guess WHAT i. MADE i.
Speaker 2 (36:42):
Made, yeah that's that's that's good enough for. Me if
ANYONE i. Wouldn't were you in, SCHOOL i made, honors all,
right then you're pretty. Good that's good enough for. Me,
yeah what other places in? Life if you can help
us stick through the. Break we're gonna get to. You
we'll deal with it on the other. Side plus some
crazy dealings with numbers in the world of. Sports that
(37:03):
and again the huge weekend ahead of. Hoops She's Monte.
