Happy Monday to you. I've got a master's hangover. But
there's a little bit more to squeeze out of Augusta National. Plus,
the NBA's postseason is upon us. We're kind of in

the NBA Playoffs in a segment that the Carry does
(00:45):
on a Sunday show. Carry On NBA Playoffs version coming
up in about forty three minutes or so. Can't wait.
I'm gonna give you five scenarios to the NBA Playoffs
and you can tell me if they're you're on board
or off board jumping ship if you will, ye, Carri's here,
I'm here, Chris Purfetz here, Jason Stewart, Ryan Smith, We're

broadcast yesterday of the Masters is one that's unique limited
(01:28):
commercial interruptions. There's basically three big sponsors At and T,
Mercedes Benz, and they try to give you as much
golf coverage as you can without constant commercials, which can
be a problem in golf. That's been the Master's mantra
for years. They would say fifty six out of every
(01:48):
sixty minute hour would be would deliver golf coverage, so
you would only have four minutes of commercials within that.
With the Masters, I don't know if it's exactly that number,
but there is limited commercial interruptions. There's also something interesting,
and I'm gonna put this up on social media at
Dan Byron Fox on X you can find Carry at
(02:09):
Carry twenty five roads. I want to put up two
graphics that to me, I guess this younger generation would
say these graphics go hard, okay hard, but Rory McElroy
twice had putts to complete the career Grand Slam. H
And they made graphics saying put for career Grand Slam huh.
(02:35):
And it was to me. Usually it's this putt to win, yeah,
this putt to force tie. But when you have a
graphic and I'll even show you that says here's Rory
McElroy hunting for the career Grand Slam, I just thought, wow,
and what a great job by CBS in putting graphic together.
(03:02):
I'm going to throw these up on X. But there's
certain graphics and games and sometimes you just overlook them.
But when when it is that moment and you see that,
I just I was, I just thought it was perfect.
You shed a tear.
Speaker 3 (03:16):
I see it, Dan, you had the slow movie tear
that was kind of dangling in the corner of your
eye and it just kind of slowly ran down like
the put did to go in.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
I did not cry at that point. I did think
that they did a great job in capturing the moment and.
Speaker 3 (03:32):
That picture it looks crazy too, because the other thing
about that picture that put looks so easy and like
level on TV. It's a little slope, it's a little
down heel. It's not as straight as you think it is,
and that's kind of cool as well.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
It's so it was so on point. I'm going to
put that up on X. I want to ask you this. Yeah,
and did you get a sense? Did you watch Rory's
walk from eighteen after he won the Masters to the clubhouse?
I did? I did? Did you see it? Were you
(04:06):
on the air or did you get to see it
live as you were off the air, Because there's there's
a reason I'm it was both. It was both.
Speaker 3 (04:12):
I got to see a little bit as it was
happening on air, and then off air, I was in
the jubilation of it, so I didn't get to probably
diagnose it the way you're about to ask me.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
Here, probably, So I just want to get a sense
because there is something with this. Jim Nance did not
say a word once Rory McElroy walked off of the
green because he's the greatest and and they let it
play out, and he didn't say a word until Rory
got to the clubhouse to go in and ultimately sign
(04:47):
his scorecard and then they were going to take him
to Butler Cabin. Yeah, and it's a great job by
the producer. Great job by Jim Nance and I thought
it was magnificent. Jason Stewart, did you see this whole
scenario playout?
Speaker 4 (05:02):
I did, Dan, And I don't know if you're gonna
get to this, but it's I know exactly what's what's happening, right.
So there's a bunch of people that want to hug him.
Speaker 1 (05:12):
Yeah, and these.
Speaker 4 (05:13):
People are all like immediate family members to good friends, agent, publicist,
you name it. And then you just have probably a
bunch of periphery guys. And that's and periphery people. I'm sorry,
there are women involved in two and I think that's
what Dan's getting too.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
It was it was something else, and I know it
bothered Jason Stewart because this was part of the group
text as well. So what I did last night, huh,
Because of course I recorded the final round of the
Masters in the playoffs. I went back and watched it
all in real time. So when Rory McElroy misses his
(05:54):
par putt that could have put him in to golf
history and instead puts him in a playoff, do you
know how long it took him to walk from the
edge of the eighteenth green into the score scoring building
on the grounds of Augusta National. It took all of
one minute and twenty seconds one minute twenty seconds for
(06:16):
him to walk from that point, and that's because he
had a playoff to do. In fact, what you guys
may not realize is Augusta used to have a little shed,
almost like you would have in your backyard, and you
would go in that shed and you would sign your
scorecard and then you would exit out. But they've now
removed that. That's no longer there and they have lines
for in paths for players to walk, and so they
(06:39):
walk into one of the buildings that's on site next
to the clubhouse, and that's where they will sign their scorecard.
But they used to have a little shed behind the
eighteenth Green that you would walk into. Truly, it looks
like a shed that you would see at home depot.
Not that it was cheap, but that's just how small
it was, and that's where you would sign your scorecard
with the official score and then you would move on.
So it takes Rory McElroy one minute twenty seconds to
(07:00):
walk from the eighteenth Green to the scoring building. When
he walked after winning, it was five minutes in nineteen
seconds five minutes in nineteen seconds, Jim Nance. No one
spoke on CBS for more than five minutes at that point,
watching Rory McElroy walk down, kiss his daughter, hugging kiss
(07:26):
his wife, walk with them, and then start to meet
every person on the face of the earth by the
time that they got Would you think did you think
it was five minutes, Jason, since you knew that it
was long, No, it felt five.
Speaker 4 (07:38):
It felled five, hit it back out.
Speaker 1 (07:40):
It absolutely felt five. At the three minute mark, he
reached Shane Lowry, Irish golfer. They're, you know, best of friends.
Don't know if it's best best friend, yeah, but they're
very very close, maybe his best friend on tour. That's
at the three minute mark. Then at four is when
(08:00):
he goes over to his buddies, Like right when he's
like right there, like he's about to go into the
area where you end up having to sign your scorecard
and then they'll take you to Butler Cabin and you'll
get to go put the green jacket on. He goes
over to his buddies at that point, celebrates for thirty seconds.
Then he has the I gotta go get a green
jacket line, which I thought was brilliant and caught on
(08:21):
Mike in the moment, and then at five to nineteen
he ends up crossing that threshold of that finish line
of then kind of disappearing off. But it was more
than five minutes that it took from Rory McElroy to
walk from the eighteenth green to go where he actually
had to sign a scorecard yesterday.
Speaker 3 (08:36):
It sounds like it was an adventure, is what you
were telling me, And I think, yes, it was gonna
take a little bit more time to get through that.
I mean, there were some moments of him taking his
time and being really emotional and letting that stuff come out.
But yeah, the family stuff obviously beautiful to see. I
love that moment with his daughter, his wife. No, that
(08:59):
stuff is in, But yeah, the men had something to
get to and and and the nights in the days
not done yet. So can we matriculate and get to
the point where we need to get to. I think
that would be my feeling of what it was. What
did you guys feel?
Speaker 1 (09:13):
I was with Jason that it was long, But I'm
not watching it as a viewer. I'm watching it as
a golf and knowing that they have to give him
the green jacket yet, and that he's delaying every broadcast
around the world because what they do they when he
gives the green jacket and Butler cabin, you'll hear Jim
Nance say, and we welcome our viewers on the world feed.
(09:37):
So if you're in Northern Ireland watching, if you're in
Japan watching, everyone is getting that feed at that time. Gotcha.
So he literally made the entire world weight because of
all of the people that were stopping him on his
way because they wanted to bring that presentation to the world.
That's what was in my mind, Jason Stewart, what was
(09:58):
in your mind? All right?
Speaker 4 (09:59):
So I'm gonna go through the priority of people in
your wife, immediate family, good friends, employees, agents, publicists, right,
and then you have maybe golf fronts, fellow golfers that
you see every day. Okay, everybody else needs either no
attention or a quick hug, because you know, to his credit,
(10:23):
he was very gracious. Anyone who approached him. He was hugging,
and that's fine. You don't want to be the guy
that turns down a hug. But the lingering hugs and
then the people having conversations in his ear that's when
it gets dicey. That's when the immediate family needs to
do that, not the other people.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
That there are levels. This runs parallel to my thinking
of star quarterback handshakes at the end of NFL games,
that everyone should be shaking Tom Brady's hand at the
end of a football game. There are certain groups. If
you're just a no name special teamer, you don't need
to shake Tom Brady's hand. He's only got so much time.
(11:07):
And I think that's the point, like there's not only
a level a hierarchy of who you're stopping for, but
it's just the how much of his time do you take.
There was one point where I'm not even sure if
Rory knew the guy, because it was a really awkward
hug that like Rory walked away from, but yet he
was in the group of other people that he was
(11:28):
also hugging and knowing. And it kind of reminds me
a little bit of when we got put into the
handshake line and Matt Holliday's house, when Doug Gottley brought
his team over and all of a sudden, like we're
like welcoming the team in, like how did I get here?
They don't know who I am, and I felt that
that at one point that happened. But if you hug
(11:48):
one person in that group, like Rory McElroy, and especially
the first person that you hug is not as important
as maybe the second and third, then you've put yourself
behind the eight ball. And that's how it ends. U
been a five minute in nineteen second walk.
Speaker 3 (12:01):
Now I get it. So you both, you guys were
in the house. You both gave wanted to give like
slow lingering hugs to Matt Holliday and it didn't work out.
So you guys are taking it out on the people
that are not as important right now? Is that what's
going on?
Speaker 1 (12:15):
Dan? I? I found that there were some members of
the Augusta National Golf Club that were there because they
have access right behind the green that went and shook
his hand and started the delay.
Speaker 3 (12:26):
Would you have gone to seconds hand in that moment.
Let's just put yourself in that spot for one second.
You and Jason both of you, well, I don't know
Rory mcolo if you were in that you said he wasn't.
It seems like that guy wasn't in the in the group,
but he was kind of there.
Speaker 1 (12:40):
But if I was there and I was on the
side of the ropes where Rory was walking, he would
get a handshake. I would not go for a hug.
If anything, I would because a would be appropriate, be
it would be quick. Yeah, I know, like there would
be no like weird embrace that I would have to
I would have to give the person.
Speaker 4 (12:59):
Yeah, And that's that's kind of the point here. Yeah,
is that And I'm uber self aware in these situations.
Dan was at my fiftieth birthday party, and I also
at a fortieth birthday party. Okay, if I'm spending way
too long with the plus one of like a family friend, okay,
at my birthday party, I start to feel anxiety. So
(13:22):
when I'm at parties or something and it's somebody I
don't really know, or a wedding. You go to a
wedding you don't really know them that well, I don't
linger with these people. They have to get to the
entire ceremony of people. So I'm very aware of that stuff.
That's why I was experiencing an anxiety yesterday.
Speaker 1 (13:38):
Gotcha. And there has to be a hierarchy. Chris Purfett
at the news desk once.
Speaker 4 (13:43):
In I kind of go the other way.
Speaker 2 (13:44):
Maybe this is just my background being an idiot punk teenager,
but like, in that moment, you're a man of the people,
and I just I love when that kind of I
don't know for me, if I was there, I'd probably
do everything because I went to the Cavaliers parade when
they wanted.
Speaker 1 (13:58):
I am not a Cavs fan at all.
Speaker 2 (14:00):
I actually got asked by I was employed in Taledo
Radio at the time, and they actually called me and
asked me, guy in the airs, like, you're not a
Calvs fan at all. You have no attention attachment to
this team at all. And I'm just like, I'm here
in a moment I'm never gonna see again. You just
want some like a tack dolear reminder that that moment
is real.
Speaker 1 (14:19):
This, I guess this is the problem. Okay, this is
the problem. When you get behind, there's no way to
catch up. There's no way to catch up, right, Like,
if you get behind, there's no way to make up time.
If you get behind leaving the house, there's no way
to catch up. Even speeding, you're not gonna catch up, right.
(14:41):
So that's the point that I think is important. Once
he got behind he was done, Like you couldn't just
then sprint past the second half of the people saying
like I've already been on here two and a half minutes, right,
especially when you see the level of people that were
there at the end of the run. And that's what
I think. I think it's a balance if you're ory
Acoya figuring out like you do have to be like, okay,
(15:03):
thank you, thank you. And he was so caught up
in the emotion that part, yep, that he's shaking everybody's hand.
Anybody with a green jacket, he's about to get one,
he's gonna shake their hand as well. That put him
behind the eight ball, because what are you supposed to
do when Justin Rose's wife comes up to you, okay,
like that's because that's what ended up happening. And at
(15:26):
that point you now have to set aside in his
mind here her husband just lost in but they all
know each other. Yeah, you can't just be like thank
you so much, like you know, like now there's an
investment to that, but you have to commit the time
to that person, yeah, because that's warranted. And then you're
(15:49):
completely behind the eight ball though, because you just spent
the last four minutes hugging some guy in a brown
sweater that you didn't want to hug in the first place.
And that's what ended up happening on the walk for
Rory McElroy. Like when he got to the end, this
group of buddies only got thirty seconds because that's what
they finally got to him. I'm sure if he had
a do over, he would have just ran to the end,
(16:10):
given everybody a five, and then had the people that
he really needed to think.
Speaker 3 (16:15):
He would have got a chance to run by all
the crises that were lined up. For sure, he would
have made it to the guys that were important.
Speaker 1 (16:20):
I I would have. I would have. I wouldn't have
ran past the crises. I would have I would have
just briskly walked. But I do have I do have
an issue. What is the Irish exit? Is that what
it's always called of, Just like like leaving a wedding,
Like I feel like I need to say goodbye, and
(16:41):
I know other people don't feel that need. You don't
feel that.
Speaker 3 (16:44):
Out you just leave the Iris exit for sure, it's
part of It's part of my my payoff for going out.
I'm not I'm not a big go out type person
anymore anyway. So if I'm there and you see me
for a few minutes and I'm out, it's kind of mysterious.
Speaker 1 (16:59):
It's kind of cool. I think there's parallels with that though,
like of that, and I feel that it's there. May
not be apples to apples in this situation with that,
but I think that they're they're at least in the
same grouping of how you handle that situation. And uh,
there's only one time in your career where you complete
the career grand slam. Yes, so there is no right
(17:21):
way to do it. But I just thought it was amazing,
especially when I ran the time, like it kept going
and then I saw my clock going to four minutes,
like when is it gonna In the five nineteen, Jim
Nance spoke again and Rory McElroy crossed into.
Speaker 4 (17:35):
I kept pointing for one thing to happen and forgive me.
You know the answer to this and I don't. I
kept waiting for him and his dad, So where was
his dad? Well, what happened there?
Speaker 1 (17:47):
His mom and dad were back in Northern Ireland.
Speaker 4 (17:50):
Yes I missed that part, yes, yes, no, And I
kept waiting for it.
Speaker 1 (17:55):
And the funny thing is is I mean, Rory's always
been close with his family and his dad has been
to a lot of events. You almost can't miss him.
He's got you know, white white hair, it's kind of
a crew cut, buzz cut, and I mean he's usually
been with Rory, you know, at these occasions. Don't know
why he wasn't there this time around, but Rory talked
(18:16):
about flying back to Northern Ireland and seeing the family
and when asked about it, got emotional. But yeah, that
was I think that was part of it too. Maybe
why his emotions were a certain way as well, but
they weren't there. Maybe if you check those boxes off,
then he feels less obligated to thank everybody else. But
again it's just pure chaos. But in the end, and
I give CBS credit, they know the moment and they
(18:38):
got they were able to have it not a test
run because it wasn't a test run. But they did
the same thing when Tiger won in twenty nineteen because
of that moment, they just completely laid out. Nobody said anything,
he just watched Tiger and they did it again yesterday
with Rory. But yeah, it took him a while. A
minute twenty when he had to go from the playoff
to whatever, and then Rory is waiting on the tea.
(18:59):
By the way, I don't know if you saw on
eighteen waiting for Justin Rose. Which was interesting was when
it got into a playoff. You heard Justin Rose say
we're just going to go hit two or three more
balls and then so like he was not that he
was gamesmanship at all, but he was taking his time
and Rory was already back on the tee. Took him
eighty seconds to get from boom spot to spot. Then
(19:19):
when you win, it takes you five times as long.
What you just said, Dan, I wanted to ask it.
I know we've been talking about this for a minute,
but does anybody have an advantage in the playoff? So
if the guy who just finished the eighteenth hole goes
back to the start in a minute and they're ready
to go, and the person that's already been finished for
maybe a little bit comes back out, is there an advantage?
(19:41):
What do you think? It all depends. Yeah, so honestly,
like I thought that Justin Rose was the advantage. He
had the momentum for making a birdie. Yep, Rory's just
coming off of a hole. Where he just bogied. Yeah,
and I's got to hit the same exact tee shot again.
Some may look at that and say, well, Rory's just
going to hit the same exact tee shot that he
just hit fifteen minutes ago, where Rose finished forty forty
(20:01):
five minutes earlier and kept himself fresh on the range,
not necessarily a real advantage. What they usually do is
they'll draw out of a hat on who goes first.
But what Augusta does at the Masters is whoever finishes first,
he's off first. So Rory had been waiting and then
Justin Rose arrives and they're like, Justin, you've got the tea.
(20:21):
So Rory even had to wait a little bit longer
to hit that drive off the playoff hole because Justin
Rose finished first. But there it is. It was a
long It was a long, long road. I think that
some people realize that they wanted to be a part
of the moment, but in no fault to them, right,
but you have to be somewhat aware of what's happening.
(20:43):
He only just kept the entire world watching at home
waiting for him to make it through. Got it, He's
carry roads. I'm dan Byer, Jason Stewart's here, Ryan Smith,
Chris Purfett, all hanging out for Cavino and Rich here
on Fox Sports Radio. By the way, I did sweet
those graphics that I saw on the broadcast with Rory McElroy,
the close up as he was about to make the
(21:04):
putt on eighteen, and then they had a wider shot
when he made the putt on the playoff. But for
career Grand Slam that is heavy. Find him at Carrie
twenty five Roads. You can see that on X for
me at Dan Byer on Fox.

Cavino and Rich here on Fox Sports Radio, just talking
about our great athletic accomplishments of the past. Carry Roads
the two time All Pro and I just told them
I can. I struck out the newer version of MLB
the show in his Carry Roads on Dan Byer were
(21:49):
in for Cavino and Rich here on Fox Sports Radio.
I played at about fifteen twenty years ago and loved it,
and then I bought the game like five years ago.
I played two games. I struck out a mind thirty
seven times, and I sold the game to John Ramos.
That's what happened. Brewers lost to the Cubs eight nothing,
(22:10):
two nothing. I didn't score a round again. I struck
out twenty times in the first game, seventeen in the second,
and John Ramos got to buy a used video game
for after it was used twice.
Speaker 3 (22:20):
I need no ram stats then if he's a little
bit better.
Speaker 1 (22:25):
Ramos pretty good at those games. Yes, we are in

lot more. Let's go to the news desk. Chris Purfett's
(23:27):
going to give us the latest and then we've got
the NBA stat that you've all been craving for. Chris.
What's happening today in the world of sports?
Speaker 2 (23:34):
All right, Dan, Well, we were just talking about the Masters,
and maybe the extra time helped CBS to new heights here.
The Master is just from this is from awful announcing
Masters they have They are averaging excuse me, let me
try this again. The Masters hit a seven year high
on Sunday across the tournament, averaging twelve point seven one
(23:55):
million viewers on CBS. That is a seven year high,
up thirty three percent from last year peak of nineteen
point five to four million people tuned in to watch
Rory go for the Green jacket and the career Grand Slam.
Prior to Sunday. Three of the last four majors failed
to eclipse ten million viewers, the one bump coming when
John Rahm had the John Rahm and having the I
(24:18):
believe that Easter Sunday lead in that helped as well.
Speaker 1 (24:22):
Interesting, I'm surprised that it's seven years. I would have
thought with Tiger six years ago at that time. But
there was also it was different because it was a
different window because there were storms, so they moved up
to tea times for earlier in the day, so that
was a little different. Maybe get more viewers later on
in the day, that could have been it.
Speaker 2 (24:41):
But we also have as of February and newly expanded
Nielsen's out of home viewership is their metrics newly expanded,
so that might be helped giving it a boost as
well here too, although it's what degree, I can't say.
Speaker 1 (24:54):
I alsoa with TV ratings, anything that says like in
the past five like with COVID, I just don't I
don't take into account. Curious on how they did compared
to twenty seventeen, twenty eighteen, twenty nineteen.
Speaker 2 (25:04):
Yeah, now to the rest, we have the Black Monday
in the NBA, not too many because some teams like
the doug already jumped on it. But the Phoenix Suns
have fired head coach Mike Budenholzer, who, in spite of
having the best the largest payroll in the league, the
Sons have failed to make the NBA playoffs fail to
win the NBA En Season Tournament. Pelicans fired general manager
(25:27):
David Griffin. Reports are out they're eyeing former Detroit Pistons
general manager Joe Dumars as his replacement. Patrick Peterson has
announced on Monday that he will officially retire as a
member of the Arizona Cardinals. Aaron Judge, who's named team
captain for Team USA in the twenty twenty six World
Baseball Classic. Oh Captain, my captain.
Speaker 1 (25:47):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (25:47):
All American guard Brayden Smith has announced on Monday also
he will be returning to Purdue for his senior year
in men's basketball. He was only really expected in the
NBA draft be a fringe second round pick, so.
Speaker 1 (26:00):
This is probably more chance for Lauri. Yes.
Speaker 2 (26:05):
And finally, NHL tonight, there's not too much. There's quite
a few games on the slate. These are the final
two days of the NHL season. Not too many clinching
scenarios that can come up tonight except for one game,
and that is the Canadians hosting the Chicago Blackhawks in
Montreal seven pm Eastern time. A win for the Montreal
Canadians means they are in as the last wild card
(26:28):
in the East. So interesting to see there. Most of
the other scenarios coming on Tuesday, especially in that Western
Conference where still so much is up in the air.
Speaker 1 (26:39):
I need to know what time face off is in Halifax. Okay,
you gave us seven o'clock Eastern, so it'll.
Speaker 2 (26:44):
Be one o'clock. It would be one hour ahead, so
I believe it would be then.
Speaker 1 (26:49):
Eight o'clock, eight o'clock Atlantic time.
Speaker 4 (26:51):
Yes, I believe that is it.
Speaker 3 (26:53):
Yeah, you got me, You got me confused. I do
know that the Canadians two chances to already clean.
Speaker 2 (26:58):
Yes, they they've they've I've been trying. Yeah, they lost
to Toronto. Thing are you?
Speaker 1 (27:06):
I know? Everything? Nothing gets past me.
Speaker 2 (27:09):
Okay, Well, back to Dan Bayer and Fox Sports Radio
hockey expert Kerry Rhoades.
Speaker 1 (27:18):
It's me and Pierre hanging out here on Fox Sports Radio.
Little Pete k Subah, I love it. Hey, hey, I
get it. That's why you did so well and easy
as one, two, three, four as well. He has carry roads.
I'm Dan Byer in for Cavino and Rich here on
Fox Sports Radio. NBA store dot com says Luka Doncic's
(27:40):
number seventy seven jersey the most popular in the NBA
this season. And I realized this at first, I thought
it was just the Lakers jersey, but it's the Lakers
and Mavericks, so it's any Luca jersey that was sold.
Not surprising that he would be number one changing teams.
I think you would have been in the top five
(28:01):
or top three period anyway, but number one overall after
the trade and earlier this year.
Speaker 3 (28:07):
Percent if they're accountant for both of those situations, it
wouldn't sitn't be close, and I'm sure it's not close
when you look at the numbers.
Speaker 1 (28:15):
This is the point that I never understood and I'll
never forget a super Bowl. I've talked about this on
the network. I don't know if I've done it in
this form, but in talking about jerseys, I went to
when I was at the Rams Patriots super Bowl Super
Bowl fifty three in Atlanta. Tom Brady obviously starved that
(28:38):
Patriots team but Tom Brady was getting long in the tooth,
ends up playing in his final Super Bowl as a
Patriot in that Super Bowl. But I thought at some
point there would be other players that Patriots fans would
fall in love with. And I remember sitting in Mercedes
Benz Stadium and I'm watching an escalat l kind of
(29:00):
go up to the second level, and I just see
all these Patriots fans. It was a Patriots section. Out
of twenty Jersey Patriots jerseys, how many Tom Brady jerseys
you think would be normal? I thought about ten. I'm
not even gonna quiz you. It's I don't want to
put you on the spot. You'll get it right. Anyway,
(29:21):
there were nineteen Tom Brady jerseys of the twenty Patriots
jerseys I saw that day. Wow. Rob Gronkowski was the other. Now,
I'm not saying that the Patriots don't have a bevy
of stars, but I also know, like, if you're a
fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, and maybe you're a fan
in their heyday, you'd have Ben Roethlisberger, but you'd also
have Troy Palamolo. Yes, you could have heinz Ward, you know,
(29:43):
you could have that jersey if you're the chiefs Patrick
Mahomes obviously, but tramas Kelce has his maybe you want
of Chris Jones jersey now, And there's different different players
that you can pick, but it was Brady Brady, Brady, Brady, Brady,
Brady Brady, And I just thought to myself, if you
haven't already bought a Brady jersey, why would you buy
one now? If you haven't bought one in twenty years?
(30:05):
What makes you say I want to buy one now?
And when I look at these jersey rankings here in
the NBA, Luca is one, Steph Curry a second, Lebron
is third in jersey sales. Jason Tatum and Jalen Brunson
round out the top five, I just don't understand on
why you would buy another Lebron jersey, right, I mean, like,
(30:29):
if you haven't already, what would be during the start
of the regular season and now make you say, all right,
I think it's about time I get that Lebron jersey.
I thought that this list would be littered with Victor
webbin Yama who's sixth, Anthony Edwards who's seventh, John Morant
is eighth. LaMelo Ball came in twelfth. Jalen Brunson was fifth.
(30:52):
But you have got so many old heads. Kevin Durant
even still made the top fifteen. Devin Bookers in the
top fifteen. Yea Jokic just tenth SGA, who's been around
the league now for a while. It's not like it's necessary.
I mean, it's new to the stardom and it's going
to be the MVP. But I just I was shocked
that Steph and Lebron still carry that much weight when
(31:14):
it comes to fandom in jerseys. Well, i'll tell you why.
Speaker 3 (31:16):
There's a little secret with the teams now and with
the NBA. Right, So if you're going to their actual
the NBA store at those particular places they're playing, or
even the teams they're playing against, the jerseys that are
going to be for sale in that building is probably
going to be Steph Curry, Lebron, James Jayalen, like the
names you're naming, right, So that's part of it. But
(31:38):
also with this new thing with the city edition jerseys
and the teams bringing that to relevancy, that's how that's
another way that they get those people to buy a
new Lebron jersey or a new.
Speaker 1 (31:50):
Very good point. It's a very good points. And you
have three different jerseys, yes, to choose from. Yes, in
addition to the classic gold if you will for the Lakers. Yes,
it makes a lot of sense. I just went to
NBA store dot com. There's a picture of Lebron in
a jersey in the jerseys portion of it. But there's Luca,
(32:11):
there's Austin Reeves. But the first jersey when you actually
scroll in the mass of them, it's Lebron, Lebron, Lebron Labron.
I'll tell you what I also think I also think
is true is not that you're talking like you're making
too much sense, Carrie, and I appreciate that. Is you
don't want to buy a jersey of someone who gets traded.
(32:32):
So the Luca portion is like people in Dallas were
buying it because they felt they could have the jersey
for ten years. Yes, if you buy an Austin Reeves
jersey for as great as he's been, he's been in
trade talks. So you're talking about your investment. Maybe that's
a reason why you know, Victor women Yama's not going
to get traded, so you're safe. If you're a Spurs
fan in buying that. But man, maybe anybody else that's
(32:55):
somewhat borderline. You're just like I'd rather just wait and
have the sure thing and don't care, don't care if
it's Lebron or if it's Steph Curry. I just want
to make sure that the jersey is current, right right right? Yeah,
for sure. Surprising though that Kevin Durant is thirteenth on
the list is he is out of Phoenix at the
end of the season. He's good.
Speaker 5 (33:14):
Fox Sports Radio had the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Fox Sports
Radio dot Com and within the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (33:25):
It's Cavino and Rich Here on Fox Sports Radio. I'm
Dan Byer, He's Carrie Rhoades. Thanks to Ryan Smith, Jason Stewart,
Chris Purfett, and Elijah Sebunya has been hanging out with
us as well in studio these the last two hours.
Thanks to everybody making it all work here as we
are in for the guys who were in for Dan
Patrick earlier today. You go to Fox Sports Radio dot Com,
(33:46):
click on Dan Patrick and you hear the guys from
earlier today, or you can even hear what Carry and
I did the past two hours and hanging out for
the guys on this Monday. Every Sunday, when Carrie takes
the airways here on Fox Sports Radio, he tells you
whether he's on board or off board, off the tracks,
off the rails, He's on or off. Let's carry on,
(34:08):
my friends. This is where we give carry five topics.
Each one we go through. He tells us if he's
again on boarder not on track. Jason Stewart, do you
like the premise of this game?
Speaker 4 (34:21):
I like the theme song?
Speaker 1 (34:22):
Yah ah yes, sir, Carry Roads, Carry on or off?
That the Golden State Warriors will benefit from playing in
the play in tournament, I am off that one.
Speaker 3 (34:36):
Whenever you're an older team and you have a chance
to lock in some rest and get your agent superstars
a little bit of that little quality time to regroup
and get ready to go, that's always a plus.
Speaker 1 (34:48):
Plus.
Speaker 3 (34:48):
They're in a situation where they're playing Memphis, who can
actually beat them and force them to go to that
eighth spot and have to face Okay see in the
first round. They don't want that, So I'm off that one.
Speaker 1 (34:58):
All right. Speaking of the player in games on or off,
that the Mavericks should try to win this game against
the Sacramento Kings. I'm on, all right, carry on, He's yes.
Speaker 3 (35:10):
It's been a disappointing season, to say the least for
a lot of Maverick fans. They've been in their feelings.
They've been on the fire Nico train for I think
one hundred years now.
Speaker 1 (35:20):
It is. It is not the year of Nico. I'll
tell this college football in the NBA, it is twenty
twenty five. Is not the year of Nico.
Speaker 3 (35:28):
Yeah, it's not the year of Nico. Nico I think
ultimately really is the fall guy here. I think there's
a bigger conspiracy going on. We'll touch on that later,
but right now, I want the Mavericks to do everything
they can to win this game.
Speaker 1 (35:39):
Are you saying that Luca yelling at Jason Kidd that
he knew is part of the bigger conspiracy.
Speaker 3 (35:43):
There's something going on there, I think, Dan, we'll talk
about that when we got more time.
Speaker 1 (35:47):
Oh, we got four minutes. We got to get through this.
Curry's way of saying yes, yeah, on the air, let's
let's move it along. I will say this. When they
lost to the Lakers and Luca had forty five for
as much as I was against the trade, Yeah, you
don't have Kyrie Irving exactly, So like that's so that game.
(36:10):
It isn't obviously Lucas gonna have a great game, but
the trade was awful in its own right. But just
for that game specifically, I just thought it was, Yeah,
of course, well the Lakers should win that game. That
should be the case, all right, moving on, carry on
or off? The Cavaliers is the number one seed, are
the favorite in the East?
Speaker 3 (36:28):
Oh man, I'm off that one hundred percent. Carries off
that one. I mean, everything goes through Boston. I don't
care what division you're in. I don't care you're in
the Eastern Conference, the Western Conference. It goes through the Celtics.
Cleveland had a great season. We've seen that they can
win before. In the playoffs, it's a different story. So
we got to wait and see. But I'm off that
one right now. Okay, Number four, that Piston Celtics would
(36:52):
be a better second round matchup than Nick Celtics, I'm
off that.
Speaker 1 (36:55):
One as well.
Speaker 3 (36:56):
Oh wow, I know the Pistons are hot, and I
know they play a certain brand of basketball that people
are starting to be familiar with, and feel good about.
But this is their first time getting there. They've got
a few veterans, but those veterans are guys that have
been France guys. Their main guys are young, and we
know how that process goes. The young guys got to
learn a little bit. So you want to see the
garden cook again? I do.
Speaker 1 (37:17):
The funny thing is is people our age. Remember those
Celtics Pistons. That Celtics Pistons rivalry, So yeah, it wouldn't
be as foreign of a concept obviously. Nick Celtics is
a is a pretty big deal, all right? Carry on
or off? The Oklahoma City Thunder is the top seed
(37:38):
in the West, are the favorite to come out of
that conference.
Speaker 3 (37:42):
I'm carrying on on that one. I think okay See
is the best team. They proved it all year. We
talk about the young guys having to having to get
in the process of winning those tough playoff games. They
went through it last year, so they have a leg up.
They should be the number one seed for sure, all right,
and a bonus one final one.
Speaker 1 (37:58):
The best first round playoff series will be the Nuggets
and Clippers. Whoa I'm gonna be.
Speaker 3 (38:06):
I'm gonna carry on on that one, I think so,
I think that'd be a great series. Clippers is playing well.
I think the Clippers are the favorite in that series
to me. But you can't cut out count out the
best player in basketball, and that's Yok itself.
Speaker 1 (38:18):
It'll be fun to set Lakers Wolves, you got Pacers, Bucks,
and you got Nix Pistons. As we've talked about, yeap
should be an interesting first round in the NBA playoffs.
Ladies and gentlemen, then just carry on here on Fox
Sports Radio. I like that.
Speaker 4 (38:30):
Yeah, that a what yes, sir? Just one question? Are
you gonna do what uh United and Jeff Blue did
or are you gonna start to charge for carry on?
Speaker 5 (38:39):
Hey?
Speaker 1 (38:39):
I should? I should? I should? I should figure that out.
We should figure it out. Dan. I love all of
the Southwest videos as well, for the free bags of
the checked luggage of because there's there's nothing. When you
start to pay for your bags, you realize on how
cheap you are flying. So then you're like, wait, yeah,
I know that these peanuts are great eight but there's
(39:00):
no TV here, there's nothing else. It's quite the change
in all of it. Well, I have to thank you
carry Roads because it is great getting the team up
with you again. And what is normally my worst sporting
day of the year, because the Masters has just ended,
you allowed me the room and space to talk about
(39:20):
what a great day it was yesterday. And I am
as you are in hockey, locked in with everything there.
I'm glad that you were locked in with golf yesterday. Listen.
So I appreciate it.
Speaker 3 (39:31):
And everything that was happening with that golf. I gave
you all your flowers and your love while it was
going on.
Speaker 1 (39:36):
So no, you're always in my heart. Dan, I appreciate that.
Carry Roads. And by the way, I do feel bad
for Justin Rose. I know nobody wants to talk about it,
but I do feel bad for Justin Rose.
Speaker 3 (39:46):
If you don't shoot seventy five, you'll have a chance.
That's what we say. He's carry Roads. I'm Dan Byer.
Speaker 1 (39:50):
It's been Cavino and Rich here on Fox Sports RADI.
I'll talk to you next time.
