seekers a fee. We are talking about money here, as
a recent report from The New York Times carry Roads said,
sports fans pay a lot of money per year to
support their teams. Do you know how much money a
year sports fans like one specific person, and we're talking
(01:23):
about one game ticket to each of the four leagues,
two jerseys, two hats, streaming services. What would that total
seem to you? If you were a sports fan went
to a football game, baseball game, NBA game, and an
NHL game, bought a couple of jerseys, bought a couple
of hats, high speed internet for your home so you
(01:45):
can watch this stuff on the streaming services, paying for
all these streaming services where all these games are. How
much do you think that would run?
Speaker 3 (01:53):
That sounds that sounds about about five about five k wow.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
Geez, does he know the answer to the You're supposed
to say, oh, about fifteen hundred dollars? And I say, uh, Carrie,
maybe in two thousand and four, but in twenty twenty four,
the New York Times says four thousand and seven hundred
and eighty five dollars a year is what sports fans pay.
That's the highest amount to be a fan of their
(02:22):
sports team. They have to forty eight hundred dollars a
year to be a fan of their sports team. That's
a lot of Money's a lot of money. Yeah, but
you know what I say. What you say, money well spent?
I don't. I get that. There's budgets and every household
has to deal with it. Some have larger budgets, some
(02:42):
have smaller budgets. Some have priorities, some don't. But you
know what sports provides for me? Fun, entertainment, passion, excitement,
all of that. That's what I want to spend my
money on.
Speaker 4 (03:00):
That.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
I know that the article is shocking, and in a
way it's supposed to be, like, look at how it's
priced out the common family. That completely stinks it does
it does? However, buying jerseys for your kids it's fun.
I love buying sports stuff for my son. It's exciting
to be able to buy a jersey for yourself or
(03:21):
a hat. To buy all that stuff, I'd much or
either I get much more from sports in buying those
packages that I pretty much do. Of anything else that
I spend my free income on, or income that isn't
designated to a water bill or a gas bill. I
have no problems with it. Now. Do I want to
spend forty eight hundred dollars. No. Will I buy a
(03:43):
ticket to every sports league that there is, No, I
won't do that. But I have no problem in spending
my money on a jersey or a shirt or a
hat that comes in because honestly it makes me feel good.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
Well yeah, I mean, and I think what you're saying.
I mean, it's it's a keepsake, right, Like you have
an opportunity. I mean, obviously you could do some of
that stuff with other things as well. But when you
talk about sports a lot of times, there's there's moments
in sports that will always remember, right, There's those you know,
there's this crazy hell Mary, there's a big comeback in
(04:16):
the Super Bowl. There's all these things that happen in
the world of sports where it's almost like where were
you when that happened?
Speaker 1 (04:23):
Mm hm.
Speaker 3 (04:24):
When you actually buy it or purchase it and you
have that keepsake, that's something that's really special. I think,
especially when you start having kids and you start you know,
opening your household up that way, and you want to
pass something on to your kid a moment like that,
even if they're not a sports fan, that's something they
can look at and say, my dad loved that or
my mom loved that, and they will find some value
(04:46):
in that, in that thing, and also outside of your
memory of it or the person that's buying it or
taking part of that experience passing it on to someone
else that you feel a special to you, they have
that bond and that's high as well.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
So I look at it that way. I know that
your specific situation is different because you played sports, and
I always feel like when you're an athlete, like there
there isn't necessarily the tie. You probably had favorite teams
growing up and everybody that you cheered for, but once
you get in the league, it just becomes different for you.
So when you heard that it's five thousand dollars or
forty eight hundred dollars up to for a sports fan,
(05:19):
does that resonate with you in any way of like,
is it a jolt? Is it shocking? Is it surprising
that it would cost that much for someone to do
the things? By the way, we're not saying every fan
is paying five thousand dollars a year, but what they
did is they priced it out to with all four
leagues apparel, how you consume it at home, and that's
(05:40):
the number they came.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
Well, I think the number one thing when I hear
it is obviously it's jarring when you hear that number
four people that probably shouldn't be spending the amount of
money to do any anything that's outside of the essential stuff.
So I would say jarring on that from that perspective.
But we pay for everything in life, right, what's the
value of what you're paying for? If you're a superfan
(06:04):
and somebody that finds value in that, then you're paying
for the experience, the value you're paying for that moment
of time that you'll never get back, minus the keepsake, right,
So I could appreciate it that way, But I also
you said it, it's different for me. I'm not a
super fan of all the four leagues, and I'm not
(06:25):
going to pay that amount of money for that because
I'm not experiencing it that way.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
Right.
Speaker 3 (06:30):
I don't think everybody is. This is a general number,
but I also think that number isn't as big as
we're making it same for everybody.
Speaker 1 (06:37):
I think we're all sports fans here coming from different angles,
of course. Jason Stewart, you're the one that actually gave
me a heads up on this story when you heard
it was forty eight hundred dollars compared to by the way,
in two thousand and four, it was thirteen hundred dollars
a year, So one three hundred and twenty one dollars. Wow.
But so you see the story, it obviously piques your
interest for what reason?
Speaker 5 (06:57):
Because that's a lot of money. And I think a
lot of Americans are living in debt right now. I
think a lot of Americans live over their head. I
just ran the quick numbers. Now, sixty seven thousand dollars
is the average salary of a single man in this country.
The take home on sixty seven thousand is roughly a
forty five hundred bucks. I'man forty five thousand dollars, so
(07:21):
a tenth of your take home on average is being
spent on this.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
Now.
Speaker 5 (07:26):
I know your point is it's worth it. They're these
are they're building memories, these are things that they'll never be
able to take away. But to me, the first thing
that came to mind answer your question is we are
an irresponsible spending country. And this is very on brand
for Americans. Interesting, Go ahead, Gary, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
No, so Jay, So like you're if you're not spending
that forty eight hundred on the thing you want to
do the most as a as a fan, not even
a super fan, as a fan like you have, You've
worked numerous amount of hours. You have this one thing
that brings joy to your life. The value of that
you don't see the value in that. I know it's high,
(08:07):
don't get me wrong, but just for that, No, No.
Speaker 5 (08:10):
I do see the value and the experiences. But yeah,
we know that a lot of this is is in
gear and what merchandise or what have you that you
probably shouldn't spend money on. And that's what I think about.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
I'm curious to hear from the listener as well. You
can find Carrie at Carrie twenty five or Olds. You
can find me at Dan Byer on Fox. The phone
numbers Cavino and Rich always welcoming me in eight seven
seven nine to nine on Fox. That's nine nine six
six three six nine eight seven seven nine on six
six three six'. Nine and do you Have jason's reaction
where it's a lot of? Money do you have my
(08:45):
reaction to, Say i'm spending stuff on stuff THAT i. Love,
YEAH i think that the point of the, Article jason
was your reaction to be, like this is how shocking it.
Is this is, how this is how it's. Expensive it
has now, become this is how all of these sports
leagues are trying to find ways to get into your.
Pocket AND i JUST i look at it as a different.
(09:09):
Way i'm A seahawks. FAN i like looking at The
Seahawks Pro shop to see what they've got for. Gear
and even THOUGH i like to play golf a lot
and you're gonna see me nine times out of ten
in a golf polo THAT i wear to, WORK i
feel different When i'm, like OH i like. THAT i
like That seahawks. Hoodie that's different for. Me AND i
(09:32):
know it's just putting the logo on it what it,
is but it's a different feel to. Me it's something
that IS i just look at a polo. Shirt it's,
like all, right it's the polo shirt THAT i wear to,
Work like that's what it. Is like there's, something it's
a separation of. It so IF i have this extra
money And i'm completely blanking on the phrase right, now
if how we talk about Our, yes, yeah expendable. Income
(09:54):
If i'm putting it all on sports or putting it
on that, amount at Least I'm i'm excited to be
able to watch all the games On sunday ticket if
that's part of your streaming thing On sunday. Afternoon we
long for those eighteen weeks of the regular season all,
year like people are itching for. It that to me
is money well. Spent and while it is expensive and
(10:18):
maybe you have to make, DECISIONS i just don't look
at this that, way, like WOULD i want to spend
five thousand, Dollars, NO i would cut out the hockey
game that's included in. This, Right maybe we're not going
TO nfl games in, person but IF i am going to,
One i'm buying a sweatshirt or something for my son
and we're going and MAYBE i figure out a different
(10:39):
way to do. It BUT i felt LIKE i just
felt the angle of the article was to dissuade people
from spending money on, sports and when it is a
very very tough financial time right, Now yes it. IS
i just find that there's other stuff that we wasted,
on and this at least makes me excited about What
i'm at least What i'm consuming or What i'm, Buying
and that.
Speaker 3 (10:59):
Would be my counter, point, right, like what else are
you going to spend it? On because we're going to
have to spend it living In america right. Now it's
expensive any way you cut, it, Right so, there you're
not cutting anywhere. Else it's just depending on where you
want to give them money.
Speaker 1 (11:15):
TOO i remember a story that WAS i don't know the,
person but the story is stuck with me for seventeen.
Years and it Was Super bowl forty. Three The steelers
played The Arizona, cardinals and we were in our media
seating In tampa at the, game and there's a group of.
People now we're when you have A Super, bowl not
(11:36):
all media can fit into the press. Box so what
they do is they take a section of the stadium
and they mark it off for media to sit at
This Super. Bowl it was basically three rows from the.
Top the fireworks were little right at your back from the.
Stadium we were up. There BUT i remember somebody talking
about this friend of theirs that they knew From pittsburgh
(11:57):
because it was A pittsburgh media, member and they were
talking to this guy and the guy told the story
and said This steelers, Fan rentz has purchased a condo
In pittsburgh and stays there for all ten games because
at that time sixteen game, schedule you had two preseason
home games ten, games and so ten times a year
(12:20):
he goes back To pittsburgh and that's where he stays
and takes in The steelers. Weekend, says the guy doesn't
spend his money on anything. Else that's where his expendable income.
Came and this was again seventeen years. AGO i don't
know how much a condo And pittsburgh, cost but the
guy wanted to put his money because he was A steelers,
fan to make sure that he gets to go to
the games and has a place to, stay and then
maybe used it as an investment. Property and the host's
(12:43):
point that was telling us about this guy says that's
where his priorities. Are and it always stuck with me
that if that's where your priority, is if that's where
you're that deep into, it hats off to. You if
that's what you love and that's what you want to,
do then go ahead and spend your. Money there's a
million other ways to. It you can blow it on.
Gambling you can you, know like you can people go
(13:04):
down that road like there's ways to do. It like
it's just there are a lot of different ways that
you can spend your. Money and if something makes you,
happy like sitting at home watching football all day and A,
sunday then it's worth buying that streaming.
Speaker 3 (13:15):
PACKAGE i, MEAN i. COULDN'T i couldn't have said it.
BETTER i, MEAN i think there is it's. Value it's
finding value in what you want to find a value
in and if that's what you want to do and
spend it, on then do it that. WAY i think
whenever you see or hear those, numbers obviously it's it's
a it's a far cry from where we used to
be as far as the numbers and the pricing of.
(13:36):
Things but that's, worldwide that's every that's what everything that
we could. Buy it's way more, Expensive so, yeah find
the value in.
Speaker 1 (13:44):
It jonathan is In. Miami he wants to talk, About oh,
yeah the expense of. Sports John, Well, jonathan welcome In
Fox Sports.
Speaker 6 (13:53):
Radio are You i'm doing? Unbelievable, Actually i'll look at
a different. Perspective i'm a financial, professional and quite, frankly
it cares me to see how people don't say the
nickel for retirement that are willing to spend forty five
hundred or five thousand hours a year on. Sports it's,
great it's a few hours you spend it with your,
(14:14):
kids but then you're living in your kid's basement when
you're seventy.
Speaker 1 (14:18):
Years, older seventy five Old.
Speaker 6 (14:20):
John, unfortunately that it's a. Problem that's the problem in today's, world.
Unfortunately so that's my perspective as an older.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
Person you're being you're being way too. Logical AND i
felt like in all of, this BUT i would also,
say if you're spending up to five thousand dollars a
year to do, this are you spending on other? Things
that's the. POINT i will also say, This not everybody's
is gonna be very. Morbid i'm. Sorry not everybody's making
(14:50):
it to retirement to that point of. Short Like i've
thought about, this and this is Like i've, So i'm
a couple of years away from being. Fifty If i'm being,
Honest i'm a year and a half away from being.
Fifty oh. Damn put it out. There at some point
my golf game is the golf ball is not going
to be hit as far as it is just not
(15:12):
it's going to start To so When i'm sixty, five
DO i want to go out and play golf then
at those at the top courses or WHAT i want
to do it? Now WHEN i feel LIKE i can
do it my best and have that. EXPERIENCE i. GET i,
Know i'm sitting here And i'm on national radio going
against a financial advisor on what to do with your.
(15:33):
Money But i've thought about this a, Lot, yeah AND
i get. It it's the right thing to it's the
right thing to. Do And i'm not saying to avoid
your four to oh one k or roth or whatever you've.
Got it's just the point of if it gives me,
enjoyment it's more valuable to me than the other ways
THAT i could end up spending my money and not
(15:55):
get anything from.
Speaker 3 (15:56):
It and the thing is, here we're talking, about hope
fully five thousand dollars that you can. Spend this isn't
saying you're tapping into your streat. POINTS i got, YOU
i got you back, Down like we're not talking about
reaching in your pocket for something that we said expendable,
Income like this is something that we could use and
we can put it to wherever we want to put it.
(16:17):
To so if you have forty eight hundred to spend
and spend in the place you want to spend it
and have, value do. It it's not as hard as
we're making it seem right. Now it's. High we know
that that's not going to. Change that's where we are
as a. Society the money and spending is an. Issue
but if you have five forty eight, hundred five thousand
dollars to spend on something you want to spend, ON
(16:39):
i don't think that's a bad.
Speaker 1 (16:41):
Thing it's different when you're talking about, gambling when you're
doing those sort of things that's not included any of. This,
yeah maybe by one, jersey don't buy two, jerseys, Right
maybe buy one, hat don't buy two. Hats it, said
maybe don't go to THE nhl OR nba, game watch
it from the house that you're buying the streaming packages
from instead of, like those are the ways to save.
(17:02):
It that's the. Budget, YEAH i JUST i felt like
because of the comparison for how much it cost in
two thousand and, four there's no doubt it's more than
three times what it was twenty years. Ago according to
these numbers thirteen hundred to almost forty eight hundred. Dollars it,
is it truly. Is AND i know that we want
to say sports fans in these leagues are taking advantage
(17:23):
of all of, Us BUT i know darnwell when Show
Heyo tani signed with The dodgers in these, hallways how
many people were trying to get their Show Hey Tony
dodger jerseys. Right and if it's eighty nine dollars or
one hundred and nine dollars for whatever it, is it's
twenty dollars. Difference you're still in it for ninety. Dollars
and if they upcharge you twenty, bucks that. Stings but
that's a part of. It and you're not going to
worry about that when you're the first buddy that you
(17:44):
have that's wearing the new Show heyo tany jersey and
you show up to work and everybody, says where'd you get?
That i'm, sorry there's some excitement over. IT I i'm
not saying to be frivolous with your. Money i'm just
SAYING i feel that there is value in investing into your,
sports AND i just don't have a problem with.
Speaker 5 (18:01):
It you talk about The Shohil aatani. Jerseys SO i
just went to The dodger game On. Sunday i'll do
it five or six times a, year AND i always
have the same. Thought maybe this speaks to the Way i'm.
Wired but WHEN i pay for those beers and those
nine dollars hot dogs and everything, else And i'm, Thinking
i'm not even bringing a family of four or. Five,
(18:23):
Yeah and you look around and all those families are
equipped in brand NEW O twi jerseys And dodgers custom made,
shoes And you're, like how do these families afford these? Experiences?
Isaac that raises an interesting.
Speaker 2 (18:41):
Question. Guys we, talk we hear about in business and
society the bubbles around the turn of the. Millennium it
was the dot com. Bubble there was even a regional
sports net. Bubble from a sports consumer, standpoint is there
any stopping sports? Consumption, well people ever stop buying tickets or.
(19:03):
Merchandise it is sports as an industry recession proof or
bubble bursting, proof IF i can put it that, WAY
i think.
Speaker 1 (19:12):
Yes AND i think that's why THE. Nfl THE nfl
got to a point where more people would rather stay at.
HOME i think they were worried about staying at home
as opposed to going to actual. GAMES i felt that
there was Teetering as, RECENTLY i still feel like it's
become so big though that now it's kind of flattened
out and it doesn't. Matter you're still trying to go
to the big. Games every game now almost feels like
(19:35):
a big game because of all the different windows that they. Have,
Right SO i don't see a bubble coming at any
point to What isaac is. SAYING i just think what
happens is you cut back and what you really don't, Love,
Right that's WHAT i, Think and you.
Speaker 3 (19:50):
Won't be able to bust it because, again you don't
have to step outside of your house to get that experience. Anymore,
right it's in your it's in your. House you have
to to even watch, it, right it's not on NATIONAL.
Tv you have to spend money to actually consume. It
so it won't happen that. Way but also throw out
the question of like people are spending money on whatever
(20:12):
they want to spend. It All, right you have Your disney,
adults you have your people that go To. Disney how
expensive is that? Now so it's it's it's you're you're
gonna spend money.
Speaker 5 (20:20):
Regardless a friend of mine and he basically says kind
of what you've even, Saying. Dan he loves, concerts and he,
SAYS i work to basically fund my concert. Fetish he
just likes going around the country and seeing, bands and
he justifies. It so to your, point if if you're
saying that you're choosing to spend money on what you
(20:42):
really love and the things that you don't, love you're
not spending money on. RIGHT a lot of the things
that you don't love are obviously like rent and food and.
Speaker 1 (20:50):
Electricity not saying skip rent to see The chargers Backing.
Raiders it's so.
Speaker 3 (20:55):
Far, yeah your your your, father your, son or your
daughter won't enjoy.
Speaker 1 (20:59):
That there is there is an extreme to. Everything AND
i Appreciate jonathan calling in and saying, like, hey you
know it's his business as, well but that's not NECESSARILY
i JUST i think it's a different. Conversation there's other
ways that they can put money into the four oh
ONE k if you're that much of a fan and,
LISTEN i get sports teams get. YOU i see THE,
(21:21):
nfl THE nfl now with the throwback. Uniforms i've everybody
knows that The eagles look better in kelly. Green we
know The seahawks look better in their silver and. Blue
we know The buccaneers look better in their. Creamsicicles but
no one's going to buy the other. Stuff if that's
the alternate. Uniform if it's the main, jersey actually has
to be not as good as your, alternate because fans
(21:42):
will buy. Both then if it's if it's, better they'll
only buy the. One they wouldn't. Buy they wouldn't buy
The seahawks one that they were now because everybody likes
what they're wearing with their. Throwback if that was the normal,
one you got to make the popular one the one
off because that allows you to buy more. Jerseys and
THE nfl does it with training camp, hats and then
(22:04):
opening season you've got your sideline. Apparel then guess what
crucial catch. Month then In november it's the armed forces
and your, veterans and you're wearing camouflage on the, sidelines
all different ways to try to get you to. BUY
i understand those. Tricks we complain about THE nba and the.
Jerseys they're wearing four different jerseys because they want us
to buy four different. Jerseys we understand all of, That
(22:25):
So i'm not saying that they're innocent in all of,
this but you have to be the one to be
able to tell, Yourself i'm only going to get this
jersey and live like. That you can't be frivolous with.
It BUT i JUST i can't FIND i can't find
any fault in getting excited over buying a new cap
Because i've loved. IT i love. IT i absolutely love
doing stuff.
Speaker 3 (22:45):
Like you're forgetting about cancer awareness months as well at
the Pink, yeah pink Jerseys. October that's another. One and,
ALSO i mean the THING i guess the team that
doesn't have to worry about that was The jets with
their Throwback. Titans nobody bought that. One good do you
rock that? One did you have to wear? That we
ought AND i liked, it but nobody purchased, it so
we know. That, uh He's Carrier. Roads I'm Dan byer
(23:05):

is taken over the apparel. World and it's not who you.

Speaker 4 (24:56):
Too, no, no but. Marketplace, anyway to the POINT i was
gonna tell, YOU i really do believe, well number, ONE
i know that if it's not gonna. Happen but if
we went back to, cash there is an actual pain
of feeling that when you hand over. Cash, uh it's
(25:19):
different than slipping your, phone swiping you, Know apple pigs spiking,
anything swiping your your you know you can swipe your
palm and, uh it's it's definitely kind of think of
the the guy playing the piano in the luxurious part
of The titanic as it was going, down he refused
to stop. Playing AND i believe that's kind.
Speaker 5 (25:43):
Of where the.
Speaker 4 (25:45):
Direction sadly we're. Heading if that's what these numbers are in,
sports and it's it is pick and choose GENERATION z
or or like ANYONE i would, say in their mid
or twenties and, younger they've kind of trad at least
in this. Country not the, immigrants but they kind of,
trashed in my, opinion the idea of what money is,
(26:07):
anymore because it's just things getting thrown around in. Account
SO i do believe that they are going for the,
moment like the memory, obviously and it's just something THAT
i don't, See like IF i give me thirty. Seconds
there's a GIRL i work with that she's twenty four
(26:28):
and refuses to get a driver's license like a lot
of her, peers and she has to lift back and
forth in the middle of the rush hour gets her
lunch her. NET i asked her net what she makes
every day going up is four dollars more than what
she has to, Lose SO i asked, her what are
(26:49):
you doing? Here she, goes life is you got out
of the. House my mom told me, that you, know
so it's just nothing really adding. Up it's not making,
sense and that's you. KNOW i THINK i think we're
also being right to you about the numbers as. WELL i,
Mean stewart said that sixty, five but everyone's bringing home
forty five to. Fifty that's. Real but everyone's kind of
(27:11):
telling us that there's these these people for who knows,
who making absorbent amounts of money doing whatever.
Speaker 1 (27:20):
Online, Sure, tony oh, Jeez tony got the? Acts is
that YOU i? Am That's. KAWA i Think. Tony tony
brought up a lot of great points and the THE
i think there are three different arguments that are being
brought into. This The New York times, says, again forty
(27:41):
eight fans pay up the forty eight hundred dollars a.
Year that's not the. Average that's up to forty eight
hundred dollars a. Year, Yes my point is if you're
spending that money and it makes you feel. Good like,
me sports are a majority of my. Life now As
i've gotten, older done maybe more old guy things yard
and stuff like that that'll invest money. In but sports
(28:04):
has been from you, know a part of my life
ever SINCE i was. Born so there is something THAT
i am involved in always tied, to SO i don't
feel money To jason and the break just asked you
what do you like to spend money? On, right and
you said, music like that's your. Thing what was your,
Thing jason that you.
Speaker 5 (28:22):
Had i'm a poker. GUY i spent a little too
much money on poker every.
Speaker 1 (28:26):
Year and you, know you can sit there and you
can pick apart whether it be concerts or whether it
be poker tournaments or the sports stuff THAT i. Do
it's a different argument on what the teams are charging
and what the leagues are charging for the. Prices it's
a different argument if you are spending beyond your, means
like this person was at their work where they weren't
even coming out on top for showing up to. Work
(28:48):
they just needed to get out of the. House and
it's a different argument on if you are overspending what
you can afford for sports. APPAREL i just feel the
article and the piece was aiming to show how fans
are being priced, out AND i understand, that BUT i
still think that there are ways where you can enjoy
sports and spend money and feel good about. It that's
(29:09):
Where i'm coming.
Speaker 3 (29:10):
From And, dan this is another. One i'm gonna throw
one more point out. There everything about the times we're
living in right, now it's about fear like when you
see an article like, that it's it's. Jarring it sets you,
back and it makes you realize obviously at the max
(29:30):
like people are spending that much with sports right, again
as big as sports as you, are your number is significantly.
Speaker 1 (29:36):
Lower.
Speaker 3 (29:37):
RIGHT i think there is a happy medium, there obviously
that we can find with this spending stuff on the
stuff you want it to be, on but always come
back to fear. Like it's almost like we're fear mongering
people to not do the things that they love in
our time right, now do the things you.
Speaker 1 (29:52):
Love you can do it.
Speaker 3 (29:54):
Responsibly that numbers on the high, end but all numbers
aren't that.
Speaker 1 (29:57):
NUMBER i have a guy coming over tomorrow going to
put new screens on some of my, windows, right DID
I AM i excited about getting new? Screens? Heck, No,
okay it's not excited at. All i'm glad it's getting
taken care. Of but AM i going to sit there
and get this high off of seeing the new screen
(30:18):
WHEN i open the? Window, no it's going to look
like the old. Screen except just in a little better.
Condition that's the money that MAYBE i would use on
buying tickets to A lakers game or A clippers. Game
so guess, what we don't go to it that. Stings that,
stinks but it comes from the same, purse the same
account that you would have stuff like you, know of expendable,
(30:41):
money or at least stuff that maybe Isn't i'm not
gonna get new screens every single, year like it's just
not gonna, happen and just we need them, NOW i
gotta do. It so there are things That i'm going
to have to adjust. To But i'd much rather be
looking online at a new hoodie that's coming out for you,
know in THE nfl or in college sports or in THE,
nba then having to pay some guy to put new
(31:02):
screens on my. Windows you don't like the news.
Speaker 3 (31:06):
SCREENS i would beg to differ that the myths is
love the new.
Speaker 1 (31:09):
Sport she will, yes, Yes and that's why it takes.
Priority that's why there will be one less cap there
in sweatshirt and ticket in our.
Speaker 7 (31:17):
Household Fox Sports radio has the best sports talk lineup
in the. Nation catch all of our shows At Foxsports
Radio dot com and within The iHeartRadio.
Speaker 1 (31:25):
App come you And rich here On Fox Sports. Radio we're.
Neither he's Carry roads And I'm Dan. Byer the guys
were in For Dan patrick earlier. Today they'll be back
in their normal spot tomorrow getting ready as. Well they'll
be In atlanta next week for The All Star. Game
they're actually going to be filling in for The Dan
Patrick show here On Fox Sports, radio so you'll want
to catch the guys when they do. That he is Carry,
(31:48):
rhodes The All Pro Safety, Findament carry twenty Five. Roads
you can find me At Dan byer On fox just
putting a bow on all this hearel and spending and.
Sports you would never guess who has three of the
six most popular items in The Indiana fever team shop On.
Fanatics take a, Guess i'll Say Tyres Ala Burton Indiana.
Speaker 3 (32:13):
Fever, well obviously you Think Caitlyn, clark or you would
think The Wanna bonner when he's signed, there But i'm
guessing that's not the opposite the answer to this, question.
Speaker 1 (32:25):
Then It's Sophie. Cunningham sophie the bodyguard To Caitlin clark
that we can now call three out of the six
most popular. Items Not Caitlin clark. Items There's Sophie cunningham. Items,
YES i want a jersey or. Something she was, tough,
yes and she stood up For Kaitlyn. Clark, yes that's
all you had to. Do this also like proves my
(32:47):
theory Of Caitlin clark's only been in the w n
B a for like fifteen, months, Right but Yet Indiana
fever fans and other fans are finding reasons to buy
other because everybody else probably Has Caitlyn clark. Stuff, yes
so they're gonna be Like i'm gonna be. Different i'm
going to buy A Sophie cunningham. Jersey and it's WHY
(33:09):
i never understood Why Tom brady's jersey was such a
big seller all the. Time like Any patriots game you
would go, to it's just All Tom brady. Jersey. Right
there Weren't, edelman there Weren't, rock there Weren't, bruski there
was none of. That it was all Just Brady, Brady Brady.
Brady AND i feel the same thing with The warriors
And Steph, Curry like if you have a Bottle Steph
curry jersey by, now like why would you buy? One
(33:33):
but Yet Steph curry always remains on top of. Apparel
but here in The fever team, shop you'd think that
it would be All Kitlyn, clark but it's. Not it's
the person who's supported and had her.
Speaker 3 (33:44):
Back and it's funny we had talked about that in
her rookie. Year who was going to be that person
that was gonna stand up and Defend Caitlyn clark and
be that support. It it takes year two for that to.
Happen Sophie cuneham did it and now sees right up
there as one of The.
Speaker 1 (34:00):
Jason stewart Any Sophie cunningham. STUFF i know that you're
a watcher of The Indiana. Fever you're surprised By Sophie cunningham's.
Speaker 5 (34:07):
POPULARITY i, am But i'm, not, Okay SO i think
that speaks to just how pervasive The Caitlin clark support
is in this. Country it also speaks to she's considered
one of the more attractive women in. Sports but watching
some of their, games AND i have watched their, games
(34:28):
she's kind of like a mid level, player if not
even like lower mid, right she was like seventh or
eighth off the. Bench so, yeah it's interesting.
Speaker 1 (34:36):
If she would have Pushed Caitlin, clark WHICH i know
would have been weird being her teammate in. All but
these aren't being sold like if she Was Kitlin clark's,
Enemy they're not being. Sold, no and it's you're in
the music.
Speaker 6 (34:46):
Game.
Speaker 1 (34:46):
Yeah this is why older artists need to be embraced
or need to embrace younger artists when those artists want
to sample their, music because it will allow your music
to go to a whole. Audience so you, see Like
i'm gonna use dual liipa In Elton, John like there's
du a lip of fans who had never Heard Cold,
(35:08):
cole you, know like that. Song. Ye and now you
are open to all Of Elton john's, catalog And Elton
john is selling probably more merchandise or at least records
and songs and this and that because it's opening up
to a new. Generation that's kind of a parallel that
now Look Sophie. Cunningham Kitlin clark has opened up To Sophie.
(35:28):
Cunningham this is why you need to embrace the main
popular person instead of being, like don't sample my. Music
you KNOW i had the. Original, well then you're doing
yourself with the service one hundred percent agree with. You
that's a, perfect perfect example of. It he's carry. Roads
I'm Dan. Byer did you have something to, Add? Jason.
Speaker 5 (35:44):
NO i wanted to go on that BECAUSE i just
heard pressure the other day By. Queen, yeah and it
knows reminds me of that ridiculous story of How Vanilla
ice sampled it but he didn't and when they sued. Him,
yes there's like a ben thing that he. Did and
it's LIKE i always thought about. That it's, like why
(36:05):
would you sue the guy that was the most popular
song in the world at the, time, Right queen should
have done something to take advantage of, That AND i
think that they actually.
Speaker 1 (36:13):
Did, Actually, yeah WELL i was gonna, say, like it's
because he stole, it like like like like that's WHY
i do. That, Yeah like that's gonna be why they were.
Mad they probably would have embraced him if he would have, said,
hey can we use that and then it becomes the biggest?
Speaker 3 (36:26):
Hit, yeah but they would have known it was the biggest.
Hit they probably would have still said, No Dan, man
that's the. Flag Freddie mercury And David bowie weren't even getting.
Along they never performed that song. Together by the, way
it was never performed, Interesting, yeah that's.
Speaker 1 (36:37):
Crazy. Yeah for over forty, Years tyraq has been helping
customers find the right tires for, how what and where they,
drive ship fast and free back by free road as
a protection with convenient installation options like mobile tire, installation
tire ac dot com the way tire buying should. Be
If iowa sammed that, Fact i'm, sorry But i'm pretty
sure that's the case that they never performed it. Together
(36:57):
we leave today on the fifteenth anniverse of the decision
By Lebron. James it was fifteen years ago today that
he sat With Jim gray and announced that he was
taking his talents To South beach to play for The Miami.
Heat it's one of the MOST i think important pieces
(37:18):
in sports that we've, had and one THAT i think
should be replicated more and.
Speaker 3 (37:22):
More not just, play but when not, one not, two not,
three not, four you, KNOW i, mean it was it
was a big. Deal so the fact that it's fifteen years,
ago that just blows my mind that he's still we're
still talking about him right, Now.
Speaker 1 (37:35):
AND i just remember the nervousness and when he said
it and how his head was shaking like you would
knowing that you just rip the heart out of the
entire city Of. Cleveland, yeah and the, BACKLASH i know
all good, dramas you have, this and the heartbreak that
Was cleveland made it the. Drama it wasn't what he
was getting In miami in the. Celebration it was the
heartbreak Of, cleveland. Right BUT i wish we would have
(37:58):
more of. THIS i wish we would HAVE i know
people don't love the college recruiting. STUFF i still think
it's great fake, hats you, know deeks this and. THAT
i love. IT i think it's showmanship and it's fun
for what it. IS i wish it would be back
in THE. NBA i wish more free agents would do.
This it's your version Of The. BACHELOR i get. It
it is could have given Pat riley a. Rose he's carrying.
(38:21):
On So i'm Dan. Byer we're in For Doug gottlieb,
tomorrow And cavino And rich will be back here. Tomorrow
thanks so, much doctor. You next time it's, Fall i'm
gonna take my talents To South beach
