Speaker 1 (00:19):
Happy Wednesday to you, getting set for Week two of
the NFL preseason. I don't know if Cowboy fans are
looking forward to the regular season. One super fan and
I don't know if he's a superfan, but he's sure
a celebrity fan doesn't have much faith in Jerry Jones
or what the Dallas Cowboys are doing. Hit carry up
at Carried twenty five Roads. You can find me at

(00:41):
dan Byer on Fox. Max tweets into the show and
the conversation we were just talking about with record breaking.
As a Tigers fan, I'd much rather see cal Raley,
the big Dumper, hold the Ale home run record than
any Yankee. So there it goes. There's a different way
of looking at it, not wanting a Yankee to hold
the honors. So anybody, buddy Yankee, whether it be cal Rale,

(01:03):
a Mariner, or anybody else to take away the Ale
home run record from Aaron Judge. Max is happy with that.
That's how you could reach us on X Again, at
Carrie twenty five Roads, at Dan Byer on Fox, Jason
Stewart's our executive producer Ryan Smith on The Ones and Twos,
and Chris purfett Is at the News desk. I mentioned
Denzel Washington. Did you know that Denzel Washington was a

(01:25):
huge Cowboys fan? No? I did not know that. I
didn't know. I didn't know that either. What I find
so interesting if there was one team you could pick
Denzel Washington to be a fan of in all sports,
who do you think it would have been?

Speaker 3 (01:40):
I thought it would have been one of the big cities,
that New York or an LA type of situation.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
I think the Lakers because I feel like we see
him a lot at Laker games. I get, you're an actor,
you live in southern California. The Lakers are the scene.
But if I had to pick, you know who it
was on what team was his absolute face? I thought
it would be the Lakers. Now, in the picture that
was used in the article that was sent over to

(02:06):
us by our executive producer, Jason Stewart. Denzel Washington is
wearing a Yankees cap, and now he's telling us that
he's been a Dallas Cowboys fan since the nineteen sixties. Like,
you could not pick three bigger brands that people despise
more than the Cowboys, Yankees, and Lakers. But Denzel is

(02:28):
the biggest star of the stars, and those are apparently
I'm just guessing. I don't know if the Yankees or not,
but he's wearing a Yankees cap. He actually came from
New York, so there could be some ties there with
the Yankees and would have a reason to be a
fan of them. But I think we all know someone
in our life who's a Cowboys, Yankees or a Laker fan.
And now we know that Denzel Washington is speaking with ESPN,

(02:50):
says he's been a Cowboys fan since the nineteen sixties
and that Jerry Jones is making it hard for him
as a fan not to be a fan because he
says he's always going to be a Cowboys fan. But quote,
I'm still going to have the star. Oh we actually
have the audio. Okay, all right, let's play from what
Denzel had to say on ESPN about the Cowboys and
Jerry Jones.

Speaker 4 (03:09):
I've been a Cowboy fan since the sixties. He's making
it hard for me, wow, not to be a fan
because I'm still a Cowboy fan. I'm still going to
have to start on the side of the hat. But
he ain't thinking about us. He's thinking about his pocket.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
Okay, I mean, Jerry Jones on the phone.

Speaker 4 (03:28):
Get him on the phone.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
What does he say? You tell me? What does he say?
He says that he's getting rip my Cowboys.

Speaker 5 (03:36):
We're the most successful brand in sports.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
You know. You mean in terms of what championship. No,
of course he can't say hip.

Speaker 5 (03:43):
I'm talking about recognition, notoriety, dollars and cents and sports that.
But in the end of the Yankee, you haven't been
in an NFC championship game or Super Bowl in thirty years.
Thirty years, okay, And for some reason he's just stubborn. Man,
he just and then you got his son sitting there
talk about pause is like, hey, he gotta want to
sign a contract.

Speaker 1 (04:03):
What makes no sense?

Speaker 4 (04:04):
Guys, But you know this, there's box office and it's Oscars.
Jerry been a while, he ain't been to the show.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
You wouldn't know, Geeze.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
Dan, this The most impressive thing about all of this
for me is we finally found out who Denzel roots for.
In twenty twenty five, he's living right as one of
the biggest stars in the world. The fact that we
didn't know that about him. He's living the way you
probably should live as a celebrity.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
We don't.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
That's the thing about Denzel that makes him still popular too.
We don't know anything about him. We don't know what
he does outside of acting, and I think that's impressive.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
I thought it was impressive. I thought he was reading
a script when he first started talking. Everything he said
right like, I thought that he was in care Like listen, listen,
just to the beginning of this. This sounds like, uh,
this sounds like I went up. Now you're the actor,
but I'll play the role.

Speaker 6 (04:57):
Do it?

Speaker 1 (04:57):
You got it. I'm gonna say, you know what, You're
no cowboys fan.

Speaker 4 (05:03):
I've been a cowboy fan since the sixties.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
Whoa see, like right there, Like that's that's in character.
You're no cowboy fan. It sounding good. You're no cowboy fan, Denzel.
You know cowboy fan. Play the butt again, and play
the butt again, and.

Speaker 4 (05:19):
Play cowboy fan since the sixties.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
So cool. Yes, yes, so cool. He's the best. So
when Denzel Washington is now a Cowboys fan because we
just kind of I feel like we found out about it,
I can't call him a super fan. And I also
don't think you can be a super fan of three teams.
I think you can only be a super fan of
one team because that's what takes you down that road.

(05:46):
And they're super fans, they're celebrity super fans. When you
when you think of the Lakers, who do you think
of as as their superfan Zach Nicholson, Yes, yeah, absolutely,
I think that they're second and third place. I actually
thought maybe dan Zelle could get a podium spot because
I feel like we see him a lot at Laker
games like Flee right Out, Chili Peppers. Diane Cannon, we

(06:07):
would always see her at Laker games. So those are celebrities.
But Jack Nicholson probably the biggest celebrity sports fan that
there is. I'll say this. Paul Rudd and Eric stone
Street Stone Street because a modern family and where he
was and plus during this decade of success, whether it
be the Royals in the Chiefs like, I feel like

(06:28):
those two guys because they're Kansas City fans have gotten
a lot of run as celebrity fans of their hometown
Kansas City team. So first it was the Royals, then
it's obviously the Chiefs over the past, you know, seven
or eight years since they've been winning Super Bowls and
going to Super Bowls. But I feel like we get
a lot of Paul Rudd and a lot of Eric

(06:51):
stone Street when it comes to a team like Kansas City.
Other celebrity super fans that you can think of, plus
we'll take your nominations at Carrie twenty five. You can
find me at Dan Byer on Fox phone number eight
seven seven nine nine six six three six nine. That's
eight seven seven nine nine on Fox. Who pops up
into your mind? That's quite a few.

Speaker 3 (07:09):
And the one that I mean, obviously this guy's not
a celebrity, and I'm a Jet guy. But I don't
know if you guys even know, but the Fireman Ed
as a as a Superjet fan, the guy that leads
the Jets cheer all.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
He would be super fan. Only do I know a
Fireman D When I went to a Jets game fourteen
years ago. I've got about eight videos of Fireman Ed
leading cheers. There you go. You weren't playing for them
at the time, but this is about twenty eleven. I
went to just a regular season game, and that's that's
really all it was. It was just I wanted to
see the stadium, wanted to see what the atmosphere was like,

(07:40):
and I wanted to see what Fireman ed did and
it was it was a deal. So I'm totally down
to the Fireman ad He's near the top of the
food chain when I think of like super fans, one
hundred percent.

Speaker 3 (07:53):
But I'll go, I guess celebrity the one that we've
seen the most and I think with a kind of
coincides with their success is Bradley Cooper with the Eagles.
He's always there pretty much, I mean for the big games,
even when they're not big and yeah, and he's in
the area, he's there, So I'll give him a little
credit for sticking sticking with his team, as.

Speaker 1 (08:11):
I had always thought that it was because he was
in that movie about the Eagles, like that's what. And
then I'm like, I didn't know what came first, chicken
or the egg, And then I found out he's from
the area, so I didn't realize but so when I'm like, oh,
that's that fits in just well, that that he played
the role in was Silver Linings Playbooks. Is that's the
name of the movie. Yeah, I think that he's absolutely

(08:34):
Jason Stewart's celebrity sports fans, So I have one.

Speaker 7 (08:38):
But I did think as you guys were talking there,
I thought of an interesting subcategory of the adult world
super fans on only fans. Interesting subcategory, right, I'm sure
that's been searched. Matthew McConaughey. I think is has reached

(08:59):
the point maybe of being obnoxious because everything Longhorn all
of a sudden becomes about McConaughey, and he really loves
the attention. But it's the first thing that comes to
my mind.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
I I remember being on the field for a game
that Texas won, like their Bowl game, and he's, you know,
amongst the amongst the crowd and then the mix and everything. Yeah,
tried to try to steal a picture, tried to not
with him, but just of him. I think it did
a pretty good job.

Speaker 2 (09:28):
Chris Prophet so on, I don't think she's on only fans,
But you guys, remember there was a no for Florida State.
There was like a porn star fan who was trying
to attract like players to Florida State for the seminals.

Speaker 1 (09:44):
Yeah, way to play stupid.

Speaker 6 (09:48):
Who is that?

Speaker 1 (09:52):
Hey, we've left like Ben Stiller, Tracy Morgan on the
board for the for the Knicks, right yeah, Mike Lee. Yeah,
that's a big the biggest, biggest one, probably of all
of them. I was, I was about to write that.
I wrote down Mary hart uh behind him played for
the Dodgers, right, I obvious see her and Larry King.

(10:13):
When Larry King used to be a Dodger fan, you
know r I p he did, No, no longer not
no longer a member of this category. But Chris go
to Chris, He goes right to the adult. But he
found the pathway by using fans. I get accused.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
I get accused all the time of making about Detroit,
I could have said, hell, hey, I got Tim Robinson,
Sam Richardsoner now like big Lions guys and everything, and
never heard of Chris.

Speaker 1 (10:38):
No, who is who's the game? Who's the video game?

Speaker 2 (10:42):
Oh ninja? Yes, yeah, everyone thinks fan. And also Bob
Seeger is a big Lions fan as well. Then he
could keep going back and back with the Lions.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
Sure, I'll tell you another like super fan. I think
Lil Wayne and the Packers. For what he is, he's
like it's so random, but he talks about when the
Packers made the Super Bowl, when Brett Favre and Reggie
White won it in Super Bowl thirty one, they were
in New Orleans, and he became like a die hard
Packers fan, right, Like, that's one that stands out to

(11:12):
me of like the newer generation of sports celebrity fans.
I got one more diehard that's kind of offbeat.

Speaker 3 (11:18):
But he's had all the games, all the big basketball games,
and I know he's a super fan of basketball. I
don't know if there's a specific team. But James Goldstein,
the guy that dresses weird at every big basketball game.

Speaker 1 (11:31):
Yes, I know exactly. You know he goes everywhere, exact
game that he can go to, gets front row seats everyone.

Speaker 3 (11:37):
What's the story? Is he like a real estate guy?
He's a fashion I know he's a big fashion guy.
I don't know what all he's done, yes knows, everybody
knows him. He has carte blanche. I've seen him. I've
seen him like I was fortunate enough to cover a
couple of NBA finals, and one of the NBA finals
that I covered was two thousand and seven with the

(11:58):
Spurs and Calves. So you have Lebron. You don't think
that the Spurs are a big deal, but you remember
back then Eva Longoria and Tony Parker were together. There's
also there's I'm totally blanking on the actor's name, but
I just remember and seeing how celebrities were treated around
the NBA finals. Some more got more respect than others.

(12:22):
Jimmy Goldstein got got that, like the Eva Longoria treatment,
Like wherever you wanted to go, whoever you wanted to
talk to, no security guard was stopping you. But again
to your point of who is the guy with the
funky clothes sitting courtside, there's the myth about him.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
You don't know him, but then he's he is the celebrity.
He is the celebrity for sure.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
Yes, speaking of funky, do you remember there was a
I remember seeing Jack Nicholson, you know the Lakers legend.
I'm pretty sure he was at courtside for a Clippers
playoff game about ten years ago really, and it was
like considered a great betrayal. Well, I remember that was
like Lob City. Also Jack Nicholson's there. Also does every
city have like a famous lawyer injury lawyer.

Speaker 1 (13:06):
Superman dude? Yes, yes, I feel like there's a lot.
I know I can't name every single one, but I
know La does, Detroit does for sure, I know Milwaukee
does as well. Yes, people know them and yeah you
can see them. They probably purchased minority shares into the organization. I'll, i'll,
I love the mix of celebrity and super fans. Right,

(13:28):
I'm going to give you who I think is the
biggest super fan and I don't think he's a fan
of the team anymore. Marlin's Man. Remember Marlin's guy, martlins Man.
Do you remember Jason Stewart? You know who I'm talking about.
Marlin's Man, Marlin's guy that.

Speaker 7 (13:45):
I was going to bring him up as like the
poor Man's what's his name, Weinstein Goldst you guys, oh man,
poor Man's goldst Like Marlin's Man wishes he got that love.
He pays to get into all the sporting events. But
I remember when my twenty twenty year old son at

(14:08):
the time so Marlin's Man at a daughter game. Ran
I've never seen my son get so excited to take
a selfieousybody. Marlin's Man resonates with gen Z a lot.

Speaker 1 (14:19):
He absolutely does, because he's everywhere, and that's part of
the that's part of the deal. The other thing with
Marlin's Man is he and the organization had a split,
like when Derek Jeter came in. Huh, there was a
fracture in the relationship. And Marlin's Man still wears his
Marlin's gear for a uniform set that they no longer wear.

(14:40):
They have an entirely different logo. They don't wear that
blaze orange one. But I have seen within the calendar
year Marlin's Man at a sporting event. I have not
seen him as much lately, but I know that I've
seen him behind on plate for at least a game
this year. Kris, can we find Marlon Mann's real name? Yes?
Look at Lawrence. Yes, that's who he was. Kurt's and Erie, Pennsylvania. Kurt,

(15:05):
Welcome to Comuno and Rich here on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 8 (15:08):
Hey, what's going up, guys?

Speaker 1 (15:09):
What's happening? Doing Man doing all right?

Speaker 8 (15:12):
Did you guys mention Chiefs fan yet?

Speaker 4 (15:14):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (15:14):
The one that got arrested or the.

Speaker 6 (15:16):
Uh, the the one that was Robin Banks.

Speaker 1 (15:20):
Yeah, chief is it chiefs Aholic?

Speaker 3 (15:22):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (15:23):
Yeah, that guy was awesome.

Speaker 8 (15:26):
He's in jail right now.

Speaker 1 (15:27):
But yes, is it the Netflix documentary? Kurt? Is that
where it is?

Speaker 8 (15:32):
We're Oh no, I just knew about it from paying
attention to sports, didn't. I mean, I'm going to watch
the documentary if there is one.

Speaker 1 (15:39):
There is one, yeah on Netflix. Oh, these these super
fans are amazing, Kurt Good good nomination. I went to
the celebrity route and talking about the Kansas City Chiefs.
I saw Paul Run at Super Bowl fifty nine walking
on the field, uh with his son prior to the
Eagles and Chiefs game, and I just feel like like
throughout that week, whenever the Chiefs are there, you always

(16:00):
have either Eric stone Street or Paul Rudd as part
of the conversation. Wasn't Billy crystill a big met fan?
He was a big Clip Noise Yankees fan because he
loved Nanking manton Ok, but he loved the Clippers as well.
He and Penny Marshall were such Clipper fans. And on
the super fan tip of Clippers Clipper Darryl of course, yeah,

(16:21):
there would there would be one, Yeah, I'll tell you
one in the college ranks you mentioned earlier, Matthew McConaughey
and Texas. Ohio State has two super fans, one that
is liked and one that nobody billy likes. But you
will if you ever watch an Ohio State football game,
you will undoubtedly see Big Nut or Buckeye Guy. Big Nuts,

(16:47):
the guy that people like. Buckeye Guy showed up at
Earl Bruce's a memorial service in his full Ohio State gear,
like this is just one of the things. He's the
guy that's always on TV. He's dressed up, he's got
an Ohio State cape and a cowboy hat on. Big Nuts,
the one who paints his face. I think he's lost
a little weight. But every single Saturday that they play,

(17:10):
it's who the camera goes to, and they are always
on TV. But sometimes your super fan, your sports superfan,
is not liked by your regular fan base. And that
happened to be the case, uh with with one of
the Ohio State superfans.

Speaker 3 (17:26):
What was the guy, the OKC superfan, the one that
was really tan with the white teeth.

Speaker 1 (17:30):
I can't that's Portland, is that? Yeah? Ken? Yeah? Again? Yeah,
he was great. And Charles Barkley back and forth. Yes,
I remember that as well. Matt and Augusta, Georgia. We're
talking super fans and slub fans here on Cavino and
Rich here on Fox Sports Radio. Matt, what's going on.

Speaker 6 (17:48):
Hey, Georgia.

Speaker 8 (17:50):
But I real quick. There was a guy for fift
years at the University of Florida. They called himself mister Tubitch,
and he from one part of the stadium to the other.
He was a ticket buying person and leave the two
bitch year in the entire stadium, eighty ninety thousand people
would chime in, and he was like beloved. He went

(18:11):
spooler in the fifties and didn't stop and die because
I mean the twenty ten or something. He may have
to know the Florida Gators to know it, but he
was like super fan.

Speaker 1 (18:23):
Oh he was, He absolutely was. He didn't and and
to Matt's point, he was in Valdosta, not Augusta, as
he said. The he was known in the stadium. It's
not like CBS put him on TV right but before
every game, because I had covered a few Florida games
back in the day, and it was yeah, two bits,
four bits, six bits a dollar like that sort of chance.

(18:45):
He would do that before the game. So I know
exactly what Matt is talking about. There's but again like
he wouldn't he wouldn't have been on TV some of
these some of these guys Clipper, Darryl Get you know
shot from Prime Ticket or you know the logo TV. Yeah,
and we know Marlin's Man and others. Fireman ed, Fireman absolutely,
Fireman ad Is guests on shows right like we're talking

(19:09):
Jets today, Fireman D comes and you know, joins the program.

Speaker 3 (19:12):
And you know, like when does it become too much
as a superfan? Dan is there when you're going on
show exactly? That is the line, and that's it.

Speaker 1 (19:23):
James is in Virginia winging in on the celeb super
fan conversation. James, what's happening?

Speaker 6 (19:28):
Oh, thank you for taking my call. Gentlemen. Happy Wednesday Man,
Happy Wednesday big time all the time, every time, man.
And I'd be remiss if I didn't call in and
shout out my man, May he rest in peace, cheat
z Man for salute the commanders. Man. But back then
it was hell to the Redskins, and my Man always
came in with his big headdress, super fan all the way.

(19:50):
Line man, Hey, I appreciate you guys. Get me also quick,
y'all have a wonderful day. Man. Salute the commanders too.

Speaker 1 (19:56):
Brother. Yeah, I remember, I remember, and I remember videos
of him fighting with Cowboy fans physically fighting. And they
actually made NFL film's clips when they're talking about the
Cowboys Washington rivalry at the time, you would see him, Yes,
there were. No I'm not saying that he fought every game.
I'm just saying with the Cowboys rivalry that was always
a built up one oh man.

Speaker 7 (20:16):
Yeah, we just had a phone call by the way
that he didn't want to come on the air, but
he had a good one. Was there one person or
was it a collection of people that would show up
with the three sixteen sign? One guy, one guy with
the three sixteen sign. Austin, No, the John three sixteen
the first to start it. That's how Austin got it. Yeah,

(20:37):
but well I shouldn't say that's how awesome about it.
But the guy who was be behind the goalpost and
at the John three sixteen. I think there was a
documentary made about him as well, Like I relieve, Yes,
I don't know the exact details of it, but yes,
I think that was that was one guy that it
became popular and maybe was done by other people, but

(20:59):
I know solely at first it was done by by
one person.

Speaker 3 (21:02):
Dan, I'm questioning your fan with Seattle. Now, until I
see you painted up or wearing a sign or a
T shirt, you're not a super fan.

Speaker 1 (21:10):
That's well, you know, the Seahawks have had a couple
of like recent super fans where you know, it's guys,
guys from Seattle like Joel McHale, Chris Pratt one Wayne
Wilson was another. Mina Kimes is probably the biggest like
super fan, but I mean she's a member of the media.
I don't know you can put it that way. But
I'll tell you what, watching the Seahawks in the eighties

(21:31):
and nineties, there weren't a lot of celebrities that were
claiming the Seahawks at that time, right and nowadays different story.
But so more of the new school celebs that have
that have come around for the Seahawks, and maybe maybe
they'll be coming out for the Mariners as well, you know,
as they continue their push. Good conversation here, what's more
annoying to you celeb fans like as a player, well,

(21:52):
actually no, I know that answer. You would love to
mingle with the celebrities. It's the super fans where you're like, Okay,
you may want to chill on the face paint. Is
that right? Exactly?

Speaker 3 (22:00):
You're grown man. You got a nine to five that
you got to go to. Relax a little bit, just
a little bit. Yes, he's carry roads.

Speaker 1 (22:06):
I'm Dan Byer in for Coveno and Rich here on
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 9 (22:10):
Fox Sports Radio had the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (22:20):
Scavino and Rich here on Fox Sports Radio. He's carry Roads.
I'm Dan bayer in for the guys today who are
completing their Dan Patrick hat trick earlier this morning on
Fox Sports Radio. For over forty years, tirek has been
helping customers find the right tires for how, what and
where they drive, ship fast and free back by free
road as a protection with convenient installation options like mobile
tire installation, tyrec dot com the way tire buying should be.

(22:43):
There was a tweet that was put out that said
Odell Beckham Odell Beckham Junior was retiring, going to ride
off into the sunset. That was until OBJ saw the
fake report and quote tweeted, not done yet, thanks for
the concern and have a blessed day. Then OBJ, in

(23:04):
a separate tweet said, people stop texting me. I will
block you. I am not retiring. And then there was
a report today that says from the NFL Network that
some teams are interested in Odell Beckham Jr. This season?
Should they be interested in Odell Beckham Junior this season?
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (23:25):
No.

Speaker 1 (23:26):
I don't know, no, Carrie. I don't know a lot
of languages. I took German and college and I did alright,
I've lost a lot of it, but I do speak
carry and that is translated to no.

Speaker 3 (23:37):
Yeah. I mean, what has he done the last what
have you done for me? Late?

Speaker 1 (23:42):
Late? Nine targets and excuse me, nine catches on eighteen
targets last year with the Dolphins fifty five yards on
nine catches dan zero touchdowns.

Speaker 3 (23:52):
He's done and it sucks because obviously it's it's partly
due to injury for him. I mean, he's had some
setbacks the last couple of years and hasn't really been
healthy these last three years either, So to think that
he can come back and be a guy that you
can trust in a in a passing game, it's just
it's probably out outdone.

Speaker 10 (24:09):
It's done. I'm not gonna I'm this is not meant
to nitpick. Yeah, why does it suck that Obi j
may not be with a team in twenty twenty.

Speaker 3 (24:19):
Five because he obviously wants people to think that he
can still do it and he still wants to play.
So when you have that drive and that, you know,
that energy towards still being out there being able to produce,
and you can't do it at the same.

Speaker 1 (24:32):
Level, it's just it's sad because we've seen him at
his best.

Speaker 3 (24:35):
At his best, he was exciting in one of the
you know, one of the top guys for a couple
of years, and then to see where he is now
and just not that long a time.

Speaker 1 (24:43):
It's it's it's kind of it's sad. I think it's
too bad that the injuries did what they did for him.
But every every player's career comes to an end at
some point, yep. I mean, his high point is going
to be his magnificent catches yep. And the Sunday Night catch.
The one hand, there is going to be in them all.
I've always said when and Eli Manning did not get

(25:05):
into the Hall of Fame as the first ballot, I
think he'll get at some point. I don't think it'll
be next year with Breeze and Rivers on the ballot,
but I do think at some point Eli Manning gets in.
And when he gets in, he's gonna have Odell Beckham
Junior to thank because Odell Beckham Junior was a magnificent
target for a while for the Giants, and it's those
sort of catches. It's not a bad legacy to have.

(25:25):
I know, it could have been longer and could have been,
you know, a really really special career, and a couple
of knee injuries robbed him of that. But yeah, he
was a superstar in the NFL where you had very
very few superstars outside of the wide receiver, outside of
the quarterback position. And it's crazy about it.

Speaker 3 (25:40):
His window of being a quote unquote superstar was very small.
I mean, he's pretty much just a good receiver in
the league when you think about the totality of his career,
But those two years in New York where it was
off the charts and the catches and all that stuff.

Speaker 1 (25:53):
It's pretty amazing. I feel like it went downhill on
the boat trip to Miami, you know, at the end
of the regular season and they lost in the playoffs.
But then it took the uptick with the Super Bowl,
with this role with the Rams. Then he unfortunately got
injured there and there was yeah, there wasn't much to
write about after that. But you know, the Stinton Cleveland
wasn't great. It's bad, but yeah, yeah, it was tough times.

(26:15):
But I'd be surprised if Odell Beckham Junior is on
a team week one. I just don't see necessarily the
value there. I don't see the value at all. Brewers today,
twelfth straight win, the now of an eight game cushion
in the NL Central and quite a cushion to that
number one seed in the National League as well. Do
you go to any of the Brewers games at all?
I haven't been to a Brewers game in a while.

(26:36):
Even when they've come out here, I haven't necessarily gone.
I hate to be the spoiled sports fan. Sometimes traffic
and just some Jason Stewart knows he didn't take me
to a Rockies Dodgers game earlier this year on Jackie
Robinson Day. But I haven't seen the Brewers in a
few years. A couple of years ago, my cousin came
out and he wanted to splurge, so he went and

(26:57):
sat not where Mary Hart and Larry King sat, but
sat in some nice seats behind on plate. And I
bring that up not to brag or make a humble brag,
but a rabbit porcupine just sent a picture of Ben
Maller and Marlin's Man from a game earlier this year
where they were sitting in those seats, so that dives
into our Marlin's Man conversation. A friend of Ben Maller,

(27:17):
Aaron Rodgers, is making friends in Pittsburgh. Jalen Ramsey, one
of the newest Steelers who was acquired in that trade
from the Miami Dolphins, says that Aaron Rodgers still has
it and speaking with the Pivot podcast, saying nobody wants
to let Rogers down, and he says the best teams
that I've been on, that's hot. Ben, how the whole

(27:38):
team is just that clip from Jalen Ramsey, What is
Does that change anything on how you veel of you
the Steelers season coming up here in Pittsburgh. If Aaron
Rodgers is beloved by his teammates already.

Speaker 3 (27:53):
No, I think he's beloved by a lot of teammates.
We just don't hear about it a lot, right So,
Jalen Ramsey coming out and speaking about it, you do
kind of feel that way when you know somebody's on
their possible last leg and that's been a legend in
the league and done really great things. I mean, I
can go back to two thousand and eight when Brett
Favre left the Packers came to play with us in

(28:15):
New York, and you kind of got that feeling of, Okay,
he's not going to play many more years, and so
let's go out here. You know, not win one for
the Gippers, so to speak, but let's do all we can.
They help Brett Farv go out on a really high note.
And obviously that wasn't ended up not being his last stop.
He played in Minnesota for a year or two. But
you do have that feeling. The fact that he said

(28:35):
it out loud. It helped Aaron Rodgers. Right now.

Speaker 1 (28:38):
I will say this that Rogers, we saw in Hard
Knocks how he tried to bring his Jets teammates together
in the season. They did a couple of years ago.
Jalen Ramsey and those Steelers players really liking Rogers. I
think Rogers had great friendships when he was a member
of the Packers. Some of those I don't know if
they've continued outside of football, but there is this weird dynamic,

(29:01):
especially if you've done any reading or in my case,
listening to Aaron Rodgers. And I know Jason Stewart read
the same book from Ian O'Connor that he wrote last
year about Rogers, just detailing the fractures that can occur
in a friendship with Aaron Rodgers. Now, I know that
you know Rogers more on a personal level than most do,

(29:24):
but it's interesting to me that you have fractures with
the family and maybe fractures with other close friends, but
with teammates it seems like everybody's got his back.

Speaker 3 (29:34):
And that's the crazy part about it. But again, those
are two different things. Relationships in the locker room obviously,
that needs to be cultivated, needs to be neurist, and
I think you go in knowing that that's the real thing.
Right outside of that, I mean, we've had talks about,
you know, friendships and stuff like that of air, like
it's just different, and so when things fall apart that way,

(29:56):
sometimes that happens naturally. Sometimes it's forced by one part.
But again that's all perspective. But when you're on a
team and you're all going towards one common goal, to
have those relationships with florists means a whole lot more.

Speaker 1 (30:09):
What do you think about his helmet that he absolutely
despises the I get it.

Speaker 3 (30:14):
When we had the right ll and we switched the air,
I hated it. And then you get used to it
and you kind of like make it custom to what
you like, and you kind of fiddle with it for
a couple of years. I know he probably only has
one or two years left, so he doesn't have a
lot of time to get accustomed to it, but you'll
get accustomed.

Speaker 1 (30:29):
He's always even in the helmet that they don't allow
him to wear, it seemed like it was a bigger helmet.
It did. Maybe I'm misremembering stuff from earlier in the days,
but at least to the most recent years, from whatever
he wore, and this includes in Green Bay, I thought
there was the shell was a little bit bigger than others.
But now with the new design, it's just plainly obvious

(30:50):
on how ridiculous it looks. Yeah, they do look ridiculous.
Hate as someone who loves helmets and not at the
risk of the health of players. I like the skull caps,
you know, the concussion caps that they have on the
guardian caps that aren't called like to even have those
with the logos on it look weird. Yeah, that's bad. Yeah,

(31:11):
I know. I remember back in the day when Mark
Kelso because of concussions with the Bills, he had to
wear that that shell and a couple of other players did,
but you always knew them on the field. They it
looked funny, it did, but you didn't need to do
it for safety. That's what Aaron Rodgers should be focused with.

Speaker 3 (31:27):
Yeah, no, he'll he'll be fine. Yeah, that thing is
annoying at first though, so he'll get used to it.

Speaker 1 (31:32):

(32:53):
Falcons and Titans doing a joint practice and what do
you know, second year quarterback Michael Penni's junior of the
Atlanta Falcons ends up getting in the uh racus if
you will. Here was Panix meeting with the media explaining
what went down today with the type football.

Speaker 11 (33:10):
Is a competitive sport, so like I like to compete
at a high level, and when I compete, I don't
really do too much talking until somebody says something to me,
and then maybe I want to. Okay, I threw a touchdown,
Now what y'all talking about?

Speaker 10 (33:20):
Like?

Speaker 11 (33:21):
And then I guess some not everybody take that that
the right way, and I think that's all it was.
They probably looked at me as just a quarterback. I't
I won't that type of person. But I'm from Tampa.
I'm from I'm from Day City, I'm from Tampa. We
just it's just it's a respect part about it. Like

(33:42):
we all playing, we all competing at a high level.
But when disrespect come in, it's like, all right, this
ain't football no more. That's what that's when it turns
into what it is. I don't remember what it was.
I don't know how it turned. But just it's just
a respect level. We can talk trash. We can talk
all you want. I never call you. I don't want
you call me out my name, and if it do,

(34:03):
we should respond the right way and not whatever that
was out there. But things happen. It's football. This is
what we all love. We competing at a our love
when things just happen.

Speaker 1 (34:14):
All right, you're laughing to the whole deal. It's ridiculous.

Speaker 3 (34:17):
It sounds like it was a yo mama joking there
or something that uh that teed off panis. But again,
I don't want my franchise quarterback to be in any
any phrase really.

Speaker 1 (34:29):
No.

Speaker 3 (34:29):
Now, as far as barking and having that conversation, you know,
like standing up for his teammates or whatever the case is, yes,
but if he's actually getting into fights and joint practices,
that's not safe.

Speaker 1 (34:40):
We need him safe. You don't need to be throwing
punches to hurt his hand.

Speaker 7 (34:43):
Like.

Speaker 3 (34:43):
There's a way to stand up and be part of
the team and show that you're the leader, but not fighting.

Speaker 10 (34:48):
But Carrie, he's from Dede City. I don't care you
heard his voice. He sounded very excuse. But you know
where I come from, you know where I'm from. My
favorite tiktoks is actually this girl who does a bit
on it. I will show you during a break, But
it is it's hilarious because I do think it's a joke.
But I will say one player was quoted after practice

(35:11):
saying panics is different, and this could be. And I
think the Falcons are going to have a good year.
If you have a quarterback that goes in there and
gets his nose into this stuff, I don't know how
that could be bad for the Falcons if he's not injured.

Speaker 3 (35:24):
Damn, I'm telling you, it's fine. It's fine. The bark
it's time. It's it's fine to stand up and stand
in front of your team and say I'm here and
I'm from wherever he's from, Tampa and let let them know,
but do not get into fights.

Speaker 10 (35:37):
We need our quarterback healthy. And so it just doesn't
make sense. Well, we'll see. I don't want to say
that we're going to agree to disagree, but I like
it at least making his presence known and shows he
probably also did it in that setting knowing that it
wouldn't go any far.

Speaker 1 (35:56):
Of course, you know, go any further. So there's just
some jawing back and forth. But does he get a
free pass if the team is barking at him? Like
it's not like Panics went into him into the DX
chop in their face and like he started it. He
said that they were the ones who were mouthing off
and he decided to.

Speaker 3 (36:15):
I mean, I love the fire. Like I said, I
love the fire. I love that he's going to stand
up for his teammates. He's going to be excited. He's
going to throw a touchdown and be excitable about that
as well, because he hasn't thrown a lot of them
in the NFL yet, so there is an energy about that.
But I just don't want him getting into quote unquote fights.

Speaker 1 (36:33):
What do you feel about the Falcons this year?

Speaker 3 (36:35):
I think they can surprise. I think they can win
that division, I do. I think I think Tampa is
still the favorite, but I think they could win it.

Speaker 1 (36:43):
Tampa has got everything on paper that you would like
in coming off of the season. In the last couple
of seasons they've they've been great the Falcons. I feel
that people don't expect a lot of things from Michael
Penix Junior. But I do they do like to run
the ball a lot, and he's got bees On Robinson
and Tyler Lgeer there. Yep. However, with the weapons that

(37:04):
you have with Drake London, I know Darnell Mooney's dinged up,
but you know Kyle Pitts saga is always there. That
the play that that got people riled was to Ray
Ray McLeod, who was another big player for them. They
have plenty of weapons for Penis if he's gonna throw.
I actually think he's a fantasy sleeper for maybe a
top twelve finish this year for the Falcons. But I
am I am high on the Falcons like you are.

Speaker 3 (37:25):
I agree, and I think the one one name, the
one name you just named, Kyle Pitts, I need him
to really step up and be that guy he needs
to be. He has all the ability, he has all
the functionality to be a really a star tight End.

Speaker 10 (37:38):
I want that to come to Fruition. And he's been
the pits. Really been bad. Yeah, he's really been bad. Yeah, absolutely.

Speaker 1 (37:46):
You know what It's fitting because we started the show
with the tight End and then we got to end
the show with the with the with the tight end.
Carrie doesn't believe with Travis Kelsey had to say he
thinks that his better days are in the rear view mirror. Yes,
what about Kyle Pitts better days ahead? Or is this
who Kyle Pitts is? Time will tell. From the man
