Speaker 1 (00:16):
Day on the iHeartRadio app by searching FSR. I want
to welcome the greatest producer in all the land, Danny g.
He's on the phones eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox.
He has the nervous farts because his Raiders played tonight.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
The greatness of the Raiders.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
It's Pete Carroll's birthday. It's his seventy fourth birthday. I
think they're playing for Pete over birthday.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
Did you see that?

Speaker 1 (00:40):
Uh the story where Pete Carroll when he introduced himself
to the team, he came out like a WWE wrestler,
kicked over a dry erase board and he had he
had like a like almost like amacho mad old school speech.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
But I call this a due for Janny, due for
Janny Pete. They're doing it for pd because he's old.
How many more birthdays? This guy asked, So, I mean,
I hope a lot more too. But let's be realistic.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
Every one counts as my point, Yeah, I'm not wishing
anything ban on him. He's extremely healthy and he looks great,
but he's old. So they're playing hard for PD tonight
against the Chargers. And I also want to welcome the
guy who's smiling extra wide because well his Lions were
dominant this weekend.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
But maybe the Bears just state every time they touched
they score. What's both things can be true. The Bears
can stink in the and the Lions the Bears might
be ass I'm not sure.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Boy, you know prefet I think the Lions, because they
had a rough week one against the Packers. Everyone was
very quick to like sort of move him down the
power rankings in their mind. But yo, yesterday you're like, oh, yeah,
the Lions are pretty freaking there, They're pretty good.

Speaker 4 (01:49):
Yeah, I in flipping that on its head. There was
a lot of inks spill the last week or so.
It's like, oh, can Jared Goff be good without Ben Johnson?
Let me ask something, Can Ben Johnson be good without.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
Jared gold You flip the script, and you know Jared
Goff when it gets to things that made you go,
which is how we kick off every Monday, Cavino and Rich.
I'm going to r written down right here Jared Goff
defending the Ben Johnson chance. Is that why you're rocking
the Honolulu Blue today? You know I have your team golf.
Rich is rocking the Blue today. And by the way,

(02:20):
I want to welcome Dan Byer to the show. Gram
program also has a smile because that was the one
game I got wrong. I picked the Steelers. I apologize
your Seahawks.

Speaker 5 (02:29):
Yes, and then probably plan for a botched kickoff, but
that changed the the tone of the.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
Game everything, Yes, and it's all about setting the tone,
and that wasn't a good one. So congrats to Dan Seahawks.
Hope you had a Seahawks sort of weekend. And that
brings us to what Rich already said, something we do
every Monday called things that made you, Things that make
you go.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
Things that make you go.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
Now, before we dive into other baseball sense and everything
else that's going on in sports entertainment in twelve games
left in Major League Baseball, so we are going to
touch on a little baseball today.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
Don't you are?

Speaker 1 (03:07):
It is everything that you observed over the weekend in entertainment,
but football, mostly things that made you scratch your nogin,
things that made you go hmm, your observations. We get
you involved. We break it down every Monday here on
the show. So write this down and be part of it.
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox. That's our number.
Danny G's on standby waiting just to say hi, eight

(03:28):
seven seven ninety nine on Fox and everything at Covino
and Rich at Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
Your observations. Let's get into it. Can I start? Let's gone.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
I think that Giants, fans, giants' front office members, giants coaching,
everyone on, everyone should thank Russell Wilson because by performing
the way he did, even in a loss, they are
now in a position way they don't have to jump
the gun and ruin Jackson Dart the way they ruined

(04:00):
Daniel Jones, because if Russ had a stinker yesterday and
Russ wasn't bringing it, then there would have been more
and more like come.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
On, Jackson Dart, goccident Dart.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
And they would have rushed him. And you saw what
happened when they rushed Daniel Jones. You saw what happened
when the Jets rushed Zach Wilson. You see what happens
when these teams rush players. And I think the longer
Russ could show that yeah, I'm the.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
Guy for now.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
It gives Jackson Dart more time to sit, chill, learn,
and by having an almost five hundred yard day throwing
like he throwing dimes to molik neighbors and really just
having that winning old school Russ attitude like faucay youth,
credit to neighbors for just finding the ball. He has
a great ability to do that jump up and get it.
But Wilson forger fifty yards, undeniably great, three touchdowns and

(04:48):
the unfortunate pick at the end. But I don't think
anyone is talking smack about Russell Wilson and his performance
this past weekend. But I can tell you the they
had that game in the back, the under the underlying
message there was all right, they could stick with Russ's longer.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
No, absolutely, He's solid.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
And I think that gives you know, because our giant
fans now saying come on, put Dart in there, that
narrative gets paused a big time. That pick was unfortunate,
neighbors celebrating a little prematurely, also bad luck. But he
also had a great game. They got some great potential
with the Giants. They looked a lot better this week.
That's the positive there. So three touchdowns from Wilson one

(05:30):
hundred and sixty seven yards from Neighbors, two touchdowns for him,
but the Cowboys pulled it out at the end in
overtime forty thirty seven.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
So Rich's right.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
Biggest observation there is Russell Wilson looks good enough. He
looked great this weekend, but good enough to stick around.
Give some breathing rooms. So there's no there's no urgency,
there's no there's no like man, he's over the hill.
You gotta get Darter or someone in there. That narrative
could be shut down for weeks. I think still has
some game left. Neighbors is the guy, which exactly what
I had written.

Speaker 2 (05:59):
Do you know what it?

Speaker 3 (06:00):
This?

Speaker 2 (06:00):
Does? You know me?

Speaker 1 (06:02):
I'm always schedule watching. This lines up a really interesting
primetime game next week.

Speaker 2 (06:08):
You're always ass watching?

Speaker 3 (06:09):
Who you kidding?

Speaker 2 (06:09):
And you do?

Speaker 6 (06:10):
That is true?

Speaker 1 (06:10):
You're beauty kas I see Rich at the gym. He's
not watching the game. He's watching the cheeks on the treadmill.
How do you get inspired?

Speaker 7 (06:19):
No?

Speaker 1 (06:19):
But next week, if you want to look ahead to
Week three the NFL. This is a game that you know,
looking back, you'd be like, yeah, this is sort of
a throwaway game. Why are they making this primetime but
Sunday night football? Chiefs at Giants next week? Two oho
and two teams, the Giants expectedly oh and two, the
Chiefs on and two playing with desperation. But Russ coming

(06:42):
off of that big game. I think that's going to
be really interesting. I really do.

Speaker 3 (06:46):
Well.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
The Chiefs are kind of looking buns, as they say,
right now. And it's not just oh and two. I
think yeah, it's oh and three if you figure in
last season, and that's a first for Mahomes. So there
is some desperation or some urgency to way to turn
it around if you haven't seen it yet. But can
I tell you an observation, Yeah, it's not on my homes.

Speaker 8 (07:09):
Now.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
You know, he's still got that magic in him. He's
still making these cool Mahomes like plays. He hit Kelsey
right in the numbers. Kelsey's head didn't turn around fast
enough to make that play. If he did, it would
have been a different game. But it's not on my homes.
It's like little things that used to go their way
just aren't. And that's three in a row for them
when you factor in last year. So I think a

(07:31):
little urgency to beat the Giants next week if you
haven't seen it yet. If you have, you can still
play along. But points spread for next Sunday night. Where's
your instinct? Without looking? Who was favored him by?

Speaker 2 (07:41):
How much?

Speaker 1 (07:42):
Chiefs at Giants? Chiefs favored Chiefs at Giants? Right, Chiefs
favored going to met Life, I'd say just by a touchdown.

Speaker 2 (07:51):
You're close six and a half.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
Do you like the Chiefs putting a whooping on the
Giants or do you feel like the Chiefs woes continuing?

Speaker 2 (07:58):
It's a close game.

Speaker 1 (07:59):
Turn the cour I don't think they're done by any means.
Oh no, But I'm saying like they played, you know,
some tough games. This is like an urgent statement game.
Well they don't want to start owing three. No, But
I'm saying, dude, well they do they beat the Giants
or do they yeah, held the Giants?

Speaker 2 (08:12):
No, I think they beat them. Just buy like a
touchdown ten points? Okay, that's what I think. Thought it
was an interesting line coming out. I'm like, oh, I
wonder what it's going to be. I wasn't sure to
be honest like I but the Giants don't stink. I
think that's what we got out of this game, because
it was a really even Danny Gears like, yo, man,
you're watching this game. It was an exciting game. Giants Cowboys.

(08:33):
Giants always tough against the Cowboys. It was a good one.

Speaker 3 (08:36):
You don't forget to give Aubrey a lot of credit.
What first kicker to ever kick one to send the
game into overtime and then get the kick to win
the game.

Speaker 1 (08:48):
And speaking of kickers, I think it's interesting to see
that the cults are too one oh here with Daniel
Jones before that when it came to rushing quarterbacks. It
seems like everything's working out for the guy right now.
And that's what a change of scenery could do.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
You know, was he always a decent player with great potential, Probably,
but he was doing out there with.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
A team that stinks. Now he's in a different scene,
a different setting. He's thriving, he's throwing dimes and he's
getting lucky breaks. And that's kind of what happened against
Denver this weekend. I know it's so early, but Dan
buyers your instinct that that Denver loss, which for twenty
seconds we thought was a win, could that play a
factor in the postseason. And we look back at the

(09:29):
like you are you remember like week two and that
Denver had the win, That penalty could be big.

Speaker 5 (09:35):
It could be because that's a game that if you're Denver,
you look on the schedule that you go and win.
I think it could be doubly big because of the
AFC South. Here, the Colts are sitting there at two
and zero. Granted they started with two home games, but
win against the Broncos wasn't maybe in their cards. Daniel
Jones has lived up to everything that he's hasn't been
in the past so far, and so now we don't

(09:57):
know how good the Texans are. We think are okay,
but maybe there's some flaws and Tennessee's got some growing pains.
So the Colts a right there, so rich it made
doubly to the point, not only with the Broncos, but
it could really helped the Colts, especially when it comes
to the AFC South.

Speaker 1 (10:12):
No doubt, and when you look at how Bronco fans
are probably thinking we could have been two games up
on the Chiefs. We could have been two and out.
They would have been owned too. We would have had
shame memo.

Speaker 3 (10:23):
Dude.

Speaker 1 (10:23):
They didn't score in the fourth quarter at all, so
you could say it all came down to that.

Speaker 3 (10:28):
Yeah, I missed forty two yard field goal off the upright.

Speaker 1 (10:30):
Yeah, But if you're not scoring, then that's on them
to be in that position in the first place. And
I'm so proud of you, he said, growing pains. And
you didn't make an Allen Thick reference. I'm shocked to
your room. Ben, I'm shocked, Maggie. No Mike Siever Boner reference.
So the Colts, I just think that Daniel Jones has
it different as the kiddo say Aura about him with

(10:52):
this new squad, and they're getting calls that they never
seen or he never seemed to get before.

Speaker 5 (10:57):
And like Ben Sever, he does his best work under
pure Daniel Jones. I've said that all is that project
being done. That's right, geezy.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
Receiver, Doctor Jason Sever will send you to you to
your room. So the Colts over the Broncos twenty nine
twenty eight definitely stood out because you're like, wow, that
was a weird ending.

Speaker 2 (11:17):
I was like, Daniel Jones, show me that smile again. Now.

Speaker 1 (11:21):
I had this written down, too, Rich, you got sort
of touched on it already when we talked about Profet's Lions.
If the Lions turned our perception around in one week,
is it safe to say that Bears might be asked,
like are they even ass category? Or or would you
still say that Dolphins are more of the ass team

(11:42):
in the league right now?

Speaker 2 (11:43):
I think there's a few teams that just they were
hoping for.

Speaker 1 (11:47):
Oh maybe, like I think the Bears and Dolphins are
in the same category of like there was maybe like
maybe maybe this is the year we turned things around,
or like I think the Bear so maybe they'd get
it going this year and own too is not a
great start, especially when you're in a where it's how
they've lost fifty two twenty one, right, I mean, might
be ass. I thought they'd put up a bigger fight there,
But maybe the Lions were playing extra hard to show

(12:11):
that they still are the team to be reckoned with.
I don't know, but I had that written down. Bears
might be ass. I think during the highlights, I heard like,
you know, Tom Brady and Burkhart joking like, hey, you
say you say you.

Speaker 2 (12:22):
Want to be a head coach. Huh.

Speaker 1 (12:23):
You know Ben Johnson sitting pretty running that offense in Detroit.
You know, you take on a head coaching job like man,
you could have all the schemes and all the all
the know how and all the plays that you want.
But if the personnel's not there and you're just playing
better teams at the National Football League level, it's not automatic.
It's not like you just go in and win. You've

(12:43):
seen great coaches go in and not win. So something
else I had here, And by the way, this is
where we open it up to you Fox Sports Radio Nation.
Things that made you go hmmm, your observations from this
weekend in the world of football or whatever it is
you were doing watching just anything.

Speaker 2 (12:59):
You observed things that made you go hmm.

Speaker 1 (13:02):
I thought it was kind of cool that the Ravens
looked dominant. Had an unproductive day from Henry and we're
still able to score forty one points.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
He had twenty three yards.

Speaker 1 (13:13):
I have another observation as far as Stars not being
that productive. Buffalo Bill's put a whooping on the Jets,
but not from an offensive putting up big numbers. Because
Cavino is about to be out of the Guillotine League here,
because yeah, I'm riding on Josh Allen Bill's heavy and
they had very Bill's heavy. They had a bad week,
but that's that's the point, Like, you could have a

(13:34):
bad week and still win. That says a lot about
your team. Dereck Henry had eleven carries for twenty three
yards and they still dominated the Browns. I mean, I
get it, it's the Browns, but your main dude could
be ye off and you still find ways to win
in dominant fashion. Got to give props to the Ravens.

(13:56):
And by the way, I heard a stat before the
show that Flocco had beaten every team in the league
except for somebody and the Ravens, so it could have
been one more notch closer to doing that. I think
that's a fun accomplishment to say you beat every team
and you hear when you hear like a home run
hitter's like he's hit a home run in every stadium

(14:17):
except and you're like, really that.

Speaker 2 (14:18):
Stadium And I knew, yeah it was.

Speaker 1 (14:19):
It was only two teams that he hadn't beaten, Ravens
one of them, and for obvious reasons, he played there
and didn't get them any chances. I knew there was
no chance. I was like, well, it's not happening, not happening,
so good luck, but Derrick Henry off but the team's
still on. I think that's a good look. I think tonight.
I know it's not a thing to maybe go hmmm,

(14:40):
because it didn't happen yet, but tonight should be interesting
because the Raiders and Chargers both sit at one and
zero and well conventional wisdom and most people will be like, yeah, yeah,
tonight it's you know, Chargers are going in there is
only three and a half point favorites, because I feel
there is a sense of like, well it is in Vegas,
and last week Pete Carroll had that team pretty fired up,

(15:01):
and they look better than some thought. But whoever wins
tonight is two games up on the Chief. I think
the Raiders, I really do. Geno Smith looks so good,
he's so talented. With Pete Carroll, maybe are maybe they're
just way better than we're realizing. And I'm excited to
see that. And I think you gotta remember Harbaugh and

(15:22):
Pete Carroll very reminiscent of Dan dan Byer are Seahawks
Niners days that two coaches are just now in the AFC.

Speaker 5 (15:28):
Yeah, asty, Carol, about you have any fond memories. It
was awkward, but there were some great memories.

Speaker 3 (15:36):
I mean there are.

Speaker 1 (15:37):
Some not not one kind thing to say about their rivalry.
It was just like, we've had some good games against
each other.

Speaker 5 (15:43):
I think he didn't want to be disrespectful and say
the NFC Championship game on the tipped Kaepernick pass, but
that would obviously be a highlight as well.

Speaker 1 (15:52):
Yeah, my favorite was when uh Crabtree was called out
by Richard Truman an embarrassing fashion.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
That's a great memories. An awkward moment for sure.

Speaker 1 (16:00):
No, that was that was you know, two coaches. You
know that that coaching rivalry continues tonight.

Speaker 5 (16:06):
Yeah, you know that was the uh that what's your deal?
That was also the USC Stanford days, going back to
that rivalry.

Speaker 2 (16:13):
Oh, speaking of the Raiders. I don't know if you
saw this. This is like a little side nugget, but
it made me say, hmm, sort of ties in. Tom
Brady said that he was going to make an announcement
today or tonight. Made me think of it because of
his Raiders deal.

Speaker 3 (16:29):
I said something he's been working on for a real
long time.

Speaker 1 (16:32):
Some sort of Tom Brady announcement? Is it in the
world of coaching, broadcasting, not coaching, We're opening a lot
of gyms like TV twelve gem I wonder what that is.

Speaker 3 (16:41):
We do have an answer, Oh you do, Yes.

Speaker 2 (16:43):
We have an update.

Speaker 3 (16:43):
It's a new TV twelve smoothie.

Speaker 2 (16:45):
No, it's we have to breaking news.

Speaker 3 (16:47):
No.

Speaker 1 (16:48):
No, I thought it was like like a later on
tonight sort of announcement.

Speaker 2 (16:53):
It was.

Speaker 5 (16:54):
It's this is what Adam Schefter tweeted seven minutes ago. Okay,
Tom Brady's coming out of retirement and sort of to
join a list of NFL stars and others for the
Fanatics Flag Football Classic, a competitive flag football tournament taking
place in Saudi Arabia on March twenty first of twenty
twenty six.

Speaker 1 (17:14):
And his involvement is more than just playing, I would
imagine based on what he said about he's been working
on it for a long time.

Speaker 5 (17:23):
Yes, and so Pete Carroll, Kyle Shanahan, and Sean Payton
will be coaching the three teams. Ceedee Lamb. Christian McCaffery
going to be a part of it as well.

Speaker 2 (17:32):
Oh that's crazy.

Speaker 1 (17:33):
I just got to ask, how much money do these
sheikhs have? How do you you announced the other day
WrestleMania going to Saudi Arabia. You saw over the weekend.
We haven't even got to Canelo and Crawford. Yeah, but
they put on that whole show in Vegas. Saw you
saw the sheikhs and right there with mister Beast ringside
like we are. You'll follow the money and the money

(17:54):
is all bringing these big sporting events and all these
spectacles Saudi Arabia.

Speaker 2 (17:58):
Yeah, it's really changing the game. By the way, that.

Speaker 1 (18:02):
Kind of what is the announcement of letdown or cool?
I'm trying to figure that out.

Speaker 5 (18:06):
I thought it was like we all thought like there
was actually something and that this is kind of like
a oh that's what it is, kind of like a
gimmick of marketing sort of.

Speaker 2 (18:14):
Yeah, we got Tom Brady coming out to play with.

Speaker 1 (18:17):
I mean, big games, don't flag damn byer like I'm
kind of a letdown.

Speaker 2 (18:21):
Yeah, I know, it sounded kind of cool. Actually, you
never know. Positivity you have it in today's world. Everybody
loves the goofy spectacle. This is the NFL saying yeah,
we could do other things outside of actual NFL sure
caused some excitement. Maybe I don't know. My forty nine ers.

Speaker 1 (18:40):
I feel like, uh, I can't lie and be like
this exciting lead story.

Speaker 2 (18:44):
But you know they stuck by the Saints.

Speaker 1 (18:46):
Switches what they needed to do without a healthy brock party,
and mac Jones proved.

Speaker 2 (18:52):
I think that he is.

Speaker 1 (18:53):
A suitable backup for sure.

Speaker 2 (18:56):
I would.

Speaker 1 (18:56):
I would argue that mac Jones is a top tier
backup in the National Football League. And Jwan Jennings, you know,
he's trying to show that he's worth the money. So
big game from him. McCaffrey. Not the biggest game running,
but the forty nine ers moved the ball enough to
beat the Saints, and I think a very interesting matchup
will be next week. Again, you don't only schedule watching
Niners home opener against the Cardinals, but you're looking at

(19:18):
another mac Jones game. And right now Vegas has it
at like Arizona by one, So I think that's an
interesting important game.

Speaker 2 (19:24):
Week three.

Speaker 3 (19:25):
Saturday night, when we were at Covinos for the Big Fight,
we were laughing because DraftKings put out a post stretch.
They got a p hyped for your Niners. They said
Mac Jones versus Spencer Rattler might be the worst football
game ever played.

Speaker 2 (19:39):
That's right. Yeah, I like.

Speaker 1 (19:40):
Both those guys build up that we signed up for.
But you'll be tuning in, so that's funny.

Speaker 2 (19:47):
Man.

Speaker 1 (19:47):
Now, speaking of Danny, we're gonna talk more about the
fight because there's some observations there. I have another observation,
if you don't mind, sure the team that me and
Dan Byer as Niners and Seahawks fans can't look past,
not the Cardinals.

Speaker 2 (20:01):
The Rams.

Speaker 1 (20:03):
Is it the rebirth of Devonte Adams because maybe we
all thought he didn't have this much guess left in
the tank.

Speaker 2 (20:09):
Maybe in this setup.

Speaker 1 (20:10):
With him and pookin the coupa, is that arguably one
of your better receiving cores in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (20:15):
I think by name it is.

Speaker 5 (20:17):
I just don't know, still not believing they got past
the Texans, and I don't know how much of a
fight Tennessee is going to They seem to hang with
them for about three quarters, but the Rams end up
pulling away. I think ultimately it will. But I think
what the the Seahawks and Niners did in Week one
and then the Seahawks winning in Pittsburgh and just the

(20:40):
Niners win in Seattle is proven more. Where the Cardinals,
you could have picked an easier start to their schedule,
Saints Panthers, and they almost let yesterday get away.

Speaker 2 (20:49):
I was trust me, I'm sure the same with you.
I was rooting. I was rooting. I was like, come on, Panthers.

Speaker 5 (20:54):
I had the Cardinals in a survivor league. So I
was actually rooting just for the Cardinals to end it,
and they couldn't. They couldn't do it for that re
and it was Yeah, it was crazy how Carolina got
into the game. So I still think that there's something
for the Rams to prove, and I still think that
there's something for the Cardinals to prove.

Speaker 2 (21:07):
In that division.

Speaker 1 (21:08):
Dan not to overreact, because again it's two weeks of
National Football League play, it's not I got to make
this point clear. It's not overreacting because I feel that
way too sometimes. Is it reacting to what we got? Yeah,
reacting with what we have. And I think next week
I already said there's a few telling games, because there
are times I feel other people are overreacting.

Speaker 2 (21:27):
I just want to make it clear that that's just
we're just reacting. Yeah, that's it.

Speaker 1 (21:31):
But a telling game Week three, if you want to
go by that, the Rams are playing the Eagles and
that I think that is an early.

Speaker 2 (21:40):
Test of well, where is this Rams team at right?

Speaker 1 (21:42):
I mean, if you play the Eagles, like if you
hang with the Eagles and it's like, oh, maybe they
are all right. But if the Eagles win, you know, well,
you know, thirty one thirteen, then all of a sudden,
it's like, all right, the Rams are not in that league.

Speaker 5 (21:55):
Yeah, yeah, I think that's I think that's a fair point.
And then if the Rams do can be or actually win,
and I think we're going to be having questions about
the Eagles because they We'll look at their three games
and be like, okay, two and one, but really, what
do we see here?

Speaker 1 (22:08):
Vegas has given the Rams a little credit if you
ask me. Eagles are at home, and I know there's
some already people saying, how is that not your late
afternoon primetime Fox game.

Speaker 2 (22:19):
It's an early game. It's an early game in.

Speaker 1 (22:20):
Philly, and the Eagles are favored by three and a half. Blindly,
I would have guessed six and a half maybe, but
three and a half Eagles.

Speaker 2 (22:29):
They're giving the Rams some credit there, huh.

Speaker 5 (22:30):
Yeah, and that two and a half to three and
a half is a big deal obviously, But yeah, I
thought it would maybe be Philadelphia by a little bit more,
maybe not as much as you, but not the three
and a half.

Speaker 2 (22:41):
So a few years.

Speaker 1 (22:41):
Ago, Rich, I remember talking to you, probably here on
Fox Sports Radio about high ankle sprains, like, hey, when
did this become such a thing. Yeah, and it seems
like this year is all about turf toe. Oh yeah,
it's the year of the turf toe. It is turf
toe with your boy Brock Party and now turf toe
with Joe Burrow. We tried to explain this when we

(23:03):
discussed rock Party, but I further investigated myself because I'm like, well,
how serious is this now that Joe Burrow is suffering
from it? You explained to pretty well early. Here's the
misconcepts he owned. The misconception is it's something that's highly
painful yet sounds playful, right like turf toe doesn't sound
like anything major. It sounds like rugburn or something like

(23:27):
the game of it doesn't match, doesn't match to severity. Yeah,
it sounds to you like he subs his toe on
the on the turf and now it's a little swollen.
But the way it was described is if you take
your thumb and bend it all the way back. If
you take your thumb and bend it all the way
back to the point where it snaps, that's what turf
toe is.

Speaker 2 (23:47):
Of the big toe.

Speaker 1 (23:47):
So it's their big toe extending so far back that
it snapped, and that severity of the snap could differ,
you know, with it could be a rock party a
couple of weeks or I heard the pain is so
stabbing and so severe that it's hard to walk on
and it's like it's like a knife digging into your toenails,
like underneath your toe and Cavino to back couple you said,

(24:07):
I feel like turf toe is one of those things
that NFL fans should say, yeah, yeah, yeah, turf toe,
I think without that explanation, because I don't know if
every even hardcore fans know that. Again, that's the best explanation.
It's like pulling your thumb back so far in that
direction is not supposed to go all the way back
until his snaps, and he's expected to miss what three
maybe three months months I'm hearing, and again, depending on

(24:29):
the severity depending on how much we snapped and snipped
in that area.

Speaker 2 (24:33):
It could be a.

Speaker 1 (24:34):
Brock Purty couple weeks, or it could be a Burrow
three months. Dan byers that sort of right, according to
what you've known.

Speaker 5 (24:39):
I'll tell you what, let's quick do this because I
got some sound from Zach Taylor to kind of tell
you a little bit about what's going on. So, because
there's a bunch of quarterback injury news to get to.
So Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow out three months. We believe
Zach Taylor is saying they expect him that he will
likely need surgery. As for what's going to happen, the

(25:00):
message to the team at this point.

Speaker 9 (25:01):
Now we're two and oh and we've got a lot
of great energy right now. There's a lot of things
that we can clean up with our football team to
be better going forward. We have not put our best
foot forward yet, and so that's what's exciting is that
we found a way to be two and oh right
now and we still haven't even played our best best football.

Speaker 5 (25:17):
Collectively minimum of three months is what all the reports
have said.

Speaker 1 (25:22):
I'm seeing here on Yahoo Sports Dan that the injury
appears to be because, like we were saying, it's like
levels of severity and pain tolerance. I'm sure has something
to do with it too, But very very bad case
for Joe.

Speaker 5 (25:34):
Three was the initial report last night, and that's worse
than grades two in grade one. Yeah, that sucks. Not
the only quarterback injured. JJ McCarthy is a high ankle spring.
Kevin O'Connell says that he will likely miss their Week
three matchup with the Bengals. So you got Jake Browning
against Carson Wentz coming up this Sunday. Wow, Yes, McCarthy
suffering that injury last night against the Falcons. Two to

(25:55):
four weeks or what reports are saying that McCarthy could
end up missing as he commanders quarter like Jaden Daniels,
he's got a spray knee. Head coach Dan Quinn calling
him day to day.

Speaker 1 (26:05):
We've talked about the importance of backup quarterbacks, and I
think that might be in the category for me of
things that made me go hm, because we're in week
two and yo, it's like they said in a Christmas story,
Fred g La quarterbacks, you could argue the size and
strength and speed of defenders. Now it's a different game.
Everyone's a little mobile, more opportunities for little bang ups

(26:25):
and high ankle Spryan's turf toe shoulders. Like every every team,
you feel like at some point of the season someone
gets banged up. So the importance of that backup quarterback, Danny.
Even this weekend you saw Josh Allen got hurt with
his nose and they had to put him to sue.
He saw Trubisky get right in there, yep, and he
starts throwing dimes and start playing, starts playing big. These

(26:47):
dudes are way more important. Have to be ready at
all times. You're right, interestingly enough, Danny. For your Raiders tonight.
I know it's I'm not saying by no means it's
week two. I'm not saying must win. But if you
somehow at home sneak past the Chargers, you have a
Jaden Daniels lists Commanders next week, which which I mean
talk about like what could be an early gift for

(27:09):
the Raiders schedule.

Speaker 3 (27:10):
Yeah, I'm trying not to think, yeah, maybe, yeah, maybe
maybe because Rich I'm used to the season starting off
really really tough, and for them to slide into a
season three and oh that would be amazing. Well, Hey,
probably not going to happen.

Speaker 1 (27:26):
Though, your observations, your thoughts as we continue talking about
Week one of the NFL, we'll take your feedback.

Speaker 2 (27:32):
Next Hey, it's me Rob Parker.

Speaker 10 (27:36):

(27:59):
Parker on the iHeartRadio app or wherever you get your podcast.

Speaker 1 (28:07):
Steve Covino, Rich Davis, Danny g Spot on the videos.
Remember we're streaming our video now. It's like a TV show.
You get to see Dan Byer do his professional updates
in the flesh all at Covino and Rich FSR on YouTube.
Covino and Rich FSR to me, as a radio fan,

(28:29):
a kid that grew up listening to radio, loving radio,
the fact that we throw to a news guy, in
the fact you get to see that, I think it's
so cool because remember, growing up, we didn't see all
this interaction. You still have to use your imagination to
picture what that smooth buttery voice sounded like when Howard
started with Russ Buckingham.

Speaker 2 (28:48):
Yeah, I'd be who is that guy? And you could
just get on the internet and find them.

Speaker 1 (28:53):
You know, you can actually watch everything that goes on
at Covino and rich FSR on YouTube. And now now
it's time for the tire rack play of the day.
A lot of grumbling about the false starts that were
visible during the game winning push to tush push that
ishushy pushy.

Speaker 2 (29:11):
Three two one, it's over.

Speaker 3 (29:14):
The Philadelphia Eagles at two and zero has a defeat
the Kansas City Chiefs twenty to seventeen.

Speaker 2 (29:21):
The tush push was all the difference. Huh yeah, some people.
Now you know, I know it comes up every year,
but I don't know.

Speaker 1 (29:28):
There are times they use it where I am thinking
it's like, well, that's sort of like not cheap.

Speaker 2 (29:32):
Cheap's the wrong word. Well how would you describe it, Danny.

Speaker 3 (29:35):
People that don't like it say, it's not a football play. Yeah,
it's more like rugby. It's not NFL football.

Speaker 2 (29:43):
Remember the debate was the safety issues involved.

Speaker 1 (29:47):
Meanwhile, you got people running full speed during kickoffs, you know,
toward each other.

Speaker 3 (29:51):
It's football, do you I think what I think? What
they were trying to get at it the comments I
was reading last night, you could see both guards move early.
Every time they slow it down. You could see movement
on the line. But because some of the off sides
or the early jumping is going in unison between two
of the players on the line, it's not called by

(30:12):
the refs. So there's a lot of upset Kansas City
Chiefs fans today.

Speaker 1 (30:16):
So twenty to ten courtesy of the push push, that's
your tyract play of the day.

Speaker 2 (30:23):
So we're still going over week two observations. We haven't
even touched on the fight yet. I know what's up.

Speaker 5 (30:27):
I was just going to say, you know that it
could be a problem with officiating when people are saying
that the Chiefs aren't getting calls. So that's when you
know when hey, maybe there is something here. People are saying, Hey,
give Kansas City a break.

Speaker 2 (30:38):
You want to talk?

Speaker 5 (30:39):
Sorry, no, just because hey, because what's been the narrative
for the last five years?

Speaker 4 (30:44):
Absolutely well, not only that they've had their tackles constantly
lining up in the neutral zone for years. That has
been a constant problem with the Chiefs. But did you
guys see what Chris Jones said to Josh, I mean,
Jalen Hurts.

Speaker 2 (30:58):
That was the thing.

Speaker 4 (30:59):
They maybe go home. He talks of smack and there's like,
you don't even have one hundred yards in this game.
It's like we won the game. Shut you'll.

Speaker 2 (31:05):
Yeah, I thought that was great. I thought it was cool.

Speaker 1 (31:08):
I thought another great observation was in the Jags Bengals game.
Let's just say an adult toy was thrown on the
field and CBS thought.

Speaker 2 (31:17):
It was a flag.

Speaker 1 (31:18):
So the so the yellow flag came up, like, wait
a minute, that might be a flag on the plate. No,
it was just a yellow adult toy. Yellow adult toy.
What could it be? Oh, hungry, hunger, hippos. What did
they throw it? Oh yeah, glow worm. It was a
whiffle bat. I think, yeah, but yeah, they thought it
was a flag. That was kind of funny. I made
me say, hm.

Speaker 2 (31:37):
But the to push itself, you're right there, there's something
that I don't think we'll ever.

Speaker 1 (31:40):
All agree on it, because again, you're right, it's like
didn't figure out how to bocket then everyone would do it.
But Tom Brady said Uh, it's a silly observation. But
he goes, it's like the the Eagles have first and
nine every time because one yard they'll always be able
to get. So he goes, the Eagles start every possession
first and nine because if it's third and one or
fourth and one, there going to go for it and

(32:00):
get it. So, dude, is there's not a rule that
says only the Eagles could do it? I know, so,
I mean, but what you would think, like has anyone
else effectively tried to do it? It's not like they
have just ridiculously different personnel. That is actually we've seen
other teams do it, just not with the same success.
So that's on them and other observations. You know who
continues to make you scratch your head, make you say,

(32:22):
Mike McDaniel. We mentioned about the Dolphins being ass but
once again this guy hits the podium and he's almost
at a loss for words. Where it almost seems concerning.
It's it's uncomfortable to win games.

Speaker 7 (32:34):
You have to win the game, not lose the game, honestly,
and that that is how you lose the game. You're
moving the you're moving the ball down the field. You're
first and ten, and then you find yourself at second
and twenty.

Speaker 2 (32:49):
Wait a second, to win the game. Need to win
the game. I not lose the game. Again.

Speaker 1 (32:53):
It's his it's his dry sarcasm that in losing doesn't translate.
I promise you that's only second two. That woman on
that podcast that went viral that said love your job,
don't love.

Speaker 2 (33:06):
Don't love your job, job your love, and then the
other person goes, I love that, don't love.

Speaker 1 (33:12):
Guys, guys, I don't know if you've ever heard this before,
but if you're having a tough Monday, I gotta tell
you something.

Speaker 2 (33:19):
A friend once told me. Don't love your job, job
your love.

Speaker 4 (33:23):
I have to file a W two every time I
go on a date.

Speaker 2 (33:26):
Job your love, your love. That's what he's saying. Here,
he's saying, gibberish. Play that one more time so you
could listen to this pile of nonsense.

Speaker 7 (33:34):
To win games, you have to win the game, not
lose the game. Thanks John Nasty and that bo That
is how you lose the game. You're moving the you're
moving the ball down the field. You're first and ten,
and then you find yourself at second and twenty.

Speaker 4 (33:49):
To win the game, you have to score more points
than the other team win the game.

Speaker 2 (33:55):
You have to win the game.

Speaker 1 (33:56):
It's not lose the game, honestly, it's it is sarcastic noverree.

Speaker 2 (34:02):
That doesn't translate when you're losing.

Speaker 8 (34:04):
That.

Speaker 2 (34:04):
There's too much of that lately.

Speaker 1 (34:05):
I don't know if it's, like you said, a misinterpretation
because they're losing, yes, or is he just full of
nothing right now?

Speaker 3 (34:11):
Yes, sarcasm would be if he's trying to be funny.
I don't think it's funny. We've seen that in the
past with him, where he's kind of funny, but lately
he's just rambling.

Speaker 2 (34:20):
Yeah. Is this him being dry like which says or
is this him like in a concerning to win the game?
You gotta win the game.

Speaker 1 (34:28):
You can't be first intent and then second and twenty
He's sarcastically saying, like, how are we gonna win the
game if you know we start the ball first and
ten and then second and twenty third and twenty five.

Speaker 3 (34:37):
That's how I took it.

Speaker 2 (34:38):
I took it.

Speaker 1 (34:38):
It's like again, I said it last week, and I
stick by what I said last week. Mike McDaniel's a
really interesting, funny sarcastic guy when you're winning, that shtick
is funny. When the reporter trust to talk to him
and he jogs ahead of them jokingly going to the
tunnel when they're losing, that does not translate its way.

Speaker 3 (34:56):
I feel bad for Dolphins fans. Did you see ah
Chan his foot touch the out of bounds line. Had
that not happened, the Dolphins would have wound up winning that.

Speaker 1 (35:05):
Game, And and and Danny, you know what it's like.
I'll give you the analogy for McDaniel. I think I
can make it clear. You know, you're when you're in
a disagreement or spat with your your wife or girlfriend.
You're like when it's not the time to be funny.
And some guys don't know how to not do that.
Like I've always accused of going for the cheap joke
or punch on even in the middle of a serious moments,

(35:26):
And I think Mike McDaniel just doesn't know how to
turn that part off where it's like, dude, you're about
to lose your job and your team's going too, and
he's still like, well, you're the game, what's going on?
I give you a high five for pointing it out.
To make it clear, because that's not my interpretation of it,
but it makes sense. So just gives me a different
perspective when it's like your wife being like be serious

(35:46):
and you and you crack a joke. Yeah, how's not
the time. I think it's still coming across weird Yeah, no,
I agreed, agreed. So hey, we'll wrap up all your observations.
We will talk a little baseball. We got twelve games
to go, Pennant races, wild cards, and of course maybe
one of the biggest fights of the last twenty five
years went down this weekend. Are observations from Fight Night
at Covinos Fox Sports Radio Show Live twenty four to

(36:10):
seven on the new and improved iHeartRadio app. Just make
us number one on your presets. Set it, don't forget
it because this isn't Ronco. It's Cavino and Rich Shakira whenever, wherever,
best Lyric, that's all, you know what it is, Just
because my lucky, lucky, lucky that my breast are small
and humble. There you go, so that you don't confuse

(36:31):
them with mountains. Lucky them, so you don't confuse them
with mountains.

Speaker 2 (36:38):
Weirdest Lyric in.

Speaker 1 (36:39):
Creepy history, second only to a Nickelback in Rock Star
when they say out of nowhere, I'll have a case
of do you uh huh. It's one of the best
lines ever. All Right, So it's the Show with a D. D.
Cadino and Rich with Danny g and wrapping up observations
from week two of the NFL.

Speaker 2 (36:59):
They're not all football related.

Speaker 1 (37:01):
I have other thoughts I wanted to say for last Rich,
and we got to get into Crawford Canello over the weekend.
Our buddy Rob who listens every day down in San Antonio,
My buddy Rob Baker said, you know, I think Kelsey's
bobbled catch at the goal line that led to an
end zone interception returned was the biggest play and you know,
really a big game changer. And the fact that Taylor

(37:24):
Swift was snuck in behind bulletproof glass and you know,
we're living in a weird time, but that was that
was interesting. Yesterday Holmes hit him right in the numbers.
That's one of those bang bang plays obviously right where
Mahomes knows where Kelsey's going to be. Hit him right there,
and Kelsey never got his head around to see the
ball right there in his hand.

Speaker 2 (37:43):
It happens to the best.

Speaker 1 (37:44):
Last week we were talking about Ceedee Lamb missing two
balls in the fourth quarter. The best still have oopsie days. Well,
props to Mahomes were putting it right where it needed
to be and Kelsey was right where he needed to be.
His reaction wasn't quick enough to make that play and
it went, I mean completely against them, and that's when
they wanted. You know, that's definitely a game they wanted.

(38:05):
But it makes you say hmmm, because you can see
that magic's there with Mahomes, but some of the timing's off,
and will they be able to turn it around?

Speaker 2 (38:12):
Because Rich's hot take.

Speaker 1 (38:14):
Remember his out on a limb before the season started
was that the Chiefs wouldn't even make the playoffs. So
that's always in the back of my mind, Like, is
that a possibility? Smarty fantas.

Speaker 3 (38:23):
I usually take sports media five six weeks to say
the Chiefs aren't even gonna make the playoffs? Right, and
then what happens the second half of the season.

Speaker 2 (38:31):
I know, I know it's inevitable, Danny.

Speaker 1 (38:33):
Okay, Now, before we get into like other observations, this
one's football related. One of the bigger headlines over the
weekend was Usher was asked who's gonna play halftime? Hey, Erscher,
who do you think should play halftime? And he threw
Metallica out there. I thought that was kind of who
agrees with us? Yeah, I mean, look, is it gonna happen?
Probably not. It's probably gonna be Taylor Swift. And I

(38:55):
heard you mentioned Miley Cyrus rich on Pop two K
or whatever. But it was cool to see an R
and B guy throw out one of the greatest rock
bands of all time, just to put it out there
into the universe and say, hey, man, I mean Metallica
would be a cool choice. But I think we'll probably
get an announcement in the next week or two. I

(39:16):
think my guests an announcement this week. And I say
that because last year we found out.

Speaker 3 (39:22):
You said on the thirteenth.

Speaker 1 (39:23):
Last year, it was the eighth last year, the thirteenth
year before we had already.

Speaker 2 (39:28):
Had known the last couple of years.

Speaker 1 (39:29):
I have a feeling that because last week was a
heavy week nine to eleven, the Charlie Kirk assassination, just
a lot of serious stuff, I think it would have
been in poor taste to be like in your Super
Bowl halftime show. I think they were ready to drop it,
and now, out of respect for a lot going on
in the world, I think they waited. That's my guest.
I want that on fuel that fire, that which you desired.

(39:51):
But think about it. If it's Metallica or Tailor, it's
going to be tailed.

Speaker 2 (39:55):
What was it was last week the right time with everything?

Speaker 1 (39:58):
No, no, no, So I think I'm my guess you
may have missed that that Metallica reference from Usher and ay,
maybe Usher knows a thing or two. Hey, my guess
was this week Wednesday? All of a sudden, Dan Buyer's
to be like guys or got something breaking news and
we're gonna find this out My guess Wednesday.

Speaker 3 (40:15):
I actually disagree with rich and the reasoning.

Speaker 5 (40:17):
I thought that last year's announcement of Kendrick Lamar was
completely overshadowed because you mentioned the date, but that was
week one, so it was completely It was the Sunday
of Week one, and it was completely overshadowed by all
the games. And if we know anything about the NFL,
they love the spotlight. So I think that your midweek
claim is spot on because that would be then maybe

(40:40):
an advance of a of an upcoming game or or whatever.
I mean, the Chiefs play the Giants on Sunday night
in New York. You guys talked about it earlier. What
better week to promote Taylor Swift? And you know it
seems more of like they're they're fitting to do that
on like a Tuesday or Wednesday.

Speaker 1 (40:56):
Yeah, one of the days the NFL doesn't already owe
erect they will own within.

Speaker 2 (40:59):
An hour like that.

Speaker 1 (41:00):
So oh and by the way, where wash something to
back up your thought before about the importance of backup
quarterbacks this year, even for the Jets, we left out
fields getting a concussion or whatever. So he's out, and
what Taylor's in. I forget who's in for the Jets,
but importance of a backup quarter a backup is showing
real significant and no Torot tales, Oh, is really showing

(41:25):
the importance this season. So already your other observations of
Week two NFL. Otherwise, there's a few baseball things that
stood out to me, and of course the fight that
we all got together for. We were to spend most
of this hour probably talking about Canelo Crawford amongst some
other NFL stuff. But baseball, how about that it's heating up.

(41:47):
And two random things that stood out, Two random things
that took up most of our strolling time over the weekend.
One of them had to do with Ken Rosenthal. And
by the way, can I give the NFL props one
last time and then we'll move to baseball and box?
How many props can we give it? I care top
I met him earlier, so I have a whole box
of props I give. I give the NFL props all

(42:08):
the time. I never liked and I guaranteed Dan Bayern,
Danny and Prevet everyone's with me. I never liked the
overlapping Monday games. They have a four o'clock start and
a seven o'clock start. I think it's perfect when you
remember in the past years they've done that weird ass
overlap like oh an hour later the second game starts.
You got two full games today, So if you're a

(42:28):
big NFL fan, double doozy three hours apart. Now, I
will say it's a little bit easier for us to
digest being on Pacific time zone versus when I lived
back in Ohio. You know, and that game, that second
game is coming on like ten thirty at night and
Chris Berman's covering like Vikings Raiders. It's a little tougher
to stay up for all of that, But no, I

(42:49):
hate flipping back and forth for ABC and ESPN.

Speaker 2 (42:52):
A great point, and that was something that the East
Coast had a major problem with this weekend. In the
world of park it seems like when it comes to
certain things, the East Coast really gets screwed out on
being able to enjoy it the way we do here
in California. Now, I don't know if you realized, Rich,

(43:14):
we watched a fight over the weekend. It didn't start
till like ten o'clock.

Speaker 3 (43:19):
It was late. They were a good hour behind their
own schedule.

Speaker 4 (43:22):
People on the East commo. Yeah, people in these see
that's coming for boxing. It always happens like at midnight
or late.

Speaker 2 (43:28):
But imagine you.

Speaker 1 (43:29):
Call your buddies over for the nine o'clock card time,
right like nine pm. Most people probably came earlier, and
then they're staying till past one am just to see
this fight. Now, I could see your wife getting aggravated.
Idiots leaving.

Speaker 3 (43:43):
You're right, I got home from your place at midnight.

Speaker 1 (43:46):
And that's on the West Coast, So imagine what was
going on in the East Coast. So it's really crazy
to see that disregard because growing up on the East Coast,
you do think that everything revolves around you. But it
seems very odd to see how they're getting sort of
host when it comes to stuff like this.

Speaker 4 (44:02):
I have some friends where Michigan State fans, and they
got really upset this week because it was announced Michigan
State's going to be playing USC. It is an eight
pm Pacific kickoff time, eleven pm in where they live.
You started eleven pm for a college footbad.

Speaker 1 (44:20):
It's counterproductive for everybody. Here's why. If it started earlier
on the West Coast, we're fine with that. We're there,
we're gonna watch it. You're now like forgetting about fifty
percent of the population by putting this fight at the
game later, and I'd reach for anyone on the East.
I get that most sports fans, when they break down
the calendar, the calendar, when they break down the map,

(44:41):
most big sports cities are East Coast. East Coast is
your dominant time zone, right, I understand that, and we
accommodate the East Coast for everything. So for these occasions
on the rare occurrence. I say to that, wow, because
of how many times is there a six am NFL
game or we have ten am football, nine am college
football sometimes, So I mean, come on, I think the

(45:04):
occasional midnight fight deal with it.

Speaker 2 (45:07):
You know that works. Though you've grown to love waking
up in football. This just wasn't any fight, Rich, This
was the biggest fight of the year. Yeah. Yeah, people
starting at one am. Dannie almost made a shop at
Covinos like five hours early.

Speaker 3 (45:18):
By the way, well, when I first googled the start time,
it said that the early matches were going to start
at six pm local here. Yeah, and then that didn't
really happen, so I just showing up like five pm.

Speaker 1 (45:30):
Then the main event doesn't start until ten or whatever,
well one am on the East Coast.

Speaker 3 (45:36):
Because Rich, I was thinking that they were thinking about
the East Coast and they were going to try to
start the main bout around nine pm.

Speaker 1 (45:43):
Because it's Netflix. You thought maybe it was different than
a pay per view. Yeah, so you know, back to
what I was saying about Ken Rosenthal, this was a
story that was sort of everywhere over the weekend. Ken Rosenthal,
sideline reporter MLB wears the bow ties for a good cause.
You know who he is. He's always there. He's a
fixture at all these games, and you know, you think

(46:05):
he's a good dude because he wears those both tyes
for charity. He seems like a likable dude. But then
cameras pick him up getting ready to do an interview
at the end of the game, and he backs into
a photographer and the photographer falls on his ass, and
instead of going to help up the photographer, he sort

(46:26):
of just mean mugs him in discuss or even a
gesture of.

Speaker 2 (46:30):
Like, hey, I'm so sorry.

Speaker 1 (46:31):
He doesn't make any gesture of I'm sorry or let
me help you up. Maybe he couldn't help him up
because he's about to do live television. I get all that,
but the body language and the reaction caused such a
stir that everyone online was like, man, this Rosenthal guy
seems like an ass hat, and he got so much
backlash day he had to actually address it, and he

(46:52):
addressed it, I believe.

Speaker 6 (46:53):
Today, I want to talk about what happens Saturday night
when I accidentally bowled over Scott Paulas, the Brewers team
photographer while I was getting out of the way of
the Brewers dumping water on Andrew Monasteriu. Now the ever
observant AJ Prazinski joked afterward that I looked like Muhammad
Ali standing over Sonny listen.

Speaker 8 (47:12):
And when I looked at the video, when I saw this,
I was surprised at how upset I appeared. I was
more confused than anything. Now I had to continue the interview.
We were live folks on national television. Couldn't stop that said,
I felt awful about what happened, And afterward I went
up to Scott, who I've worked with in Pitts before
over the years, and I apologized, and I apologized profusely, because,

(47:35):
let's face it, I don't think that you ever expect
knocking someone down is going to happen in any particular situation.

Speaker 1 (47:42):
All right, now, that was a great apology, it really
was and understandable. But is that just damage control because
your I see otherwise, dude, I'm sorry. Was he just
caught out there in a moment. We've worked at different
networks at this point, and I have heard that he's
not the warmest fella.

Speaker 2 (48:02):
I've heard that.

Speaker 1 (48:03):
He's not necessarily you know the type of guy that
goes out of his way to you.

Speaker 2 (48:08):
Know, be super friendly. I haven't dealt with him.

Speaker 1 (48:10):
So then when you see something like this and he's
assuming cameras are not, you know, picking this up, it's
almost like it's a when cameras are when when people
catch moments when cameras are off, it's like that's the
indication of who you really are.

Speaker 3 (48:21):
That's yeah, that's the point.

Speaker 5 (48:23):
So that the Kevino saying that he's assuming he's not
on camera, that's the point.

Speaker 2 (48:28):
Yeah, now that he knows that it was picked up,
what's he gonna say. You're right, guys, I'm a big
a hole. He's doing what he has to do in
this situation now. But if you watch the clip, his
reaction is really odd because I think a normal reaction
would have been like, oh, I'm sorry about like just
any sort of body language gesture of sorry about that.

(48:49):
He didn't even like extend the hand. He didn't. He
did nothing but mean like this dude, that wasn't even
like my bad. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (48:55):
Nothing in the apology, which Cavino loved a lot more
than I.

Speaker 3 (48:59):
Did, it was lame.

Speaker 2 (49:00):
I thought.

Speaker 1 (49:00):
I thought it was like a weird backgund like, oh,
you guys called me being an a hale and uh.

Speaker 5 (49:04):
You guys didn't understand like that? Like, no, I think
we understand fully of what happened. I think that we
are misleading. We were on live TV, you simpletons. And
I'm not saying that I'm Ken Rosenthal level. But we've
done live TV, We've done live radio. It doesn't like
you could still be.

Speaker 1 (49:24):
Kind to someone and be like yh yeah, my bad
or like the one second like yo, like.

Speaker 5 (49:29):
If he lent a hand, you know what the titles
would be like Fox Sports reporter helps up photographer during
live interview after being knocked down. That's what we do, right,
lends a hand on live TV to help someone out
in a positive way. Instead, it's stares down innocent bystander

(49:50):
who gets toppled over.

Speaker 1 (49:51):
It's a weird clip. It does appear like I'm better
than you and you're in my way out like that.
And can I tell you that I look at Ken
Ken Rosenthal now and know what I see when I
look at him.

Speaker 2 (50:03):
Ernesto de la Cruz, Ernesto de la Cruz, gues who
Ernesto de la Cruzz. Then you got kids, damn by
you have kids. If you've seen the movie Coco remember me.
Although I have to say goodbye, remember me, I'm a
big fan of Poco Loco.

Speaker 3 (50:22):
Bro. He said, Dude, you did not want to sit
down and have a drink.

Speaker 1 (50:24):
With Ernesto de la Cruz is the guy, the villain
where the world loves De la Cruz. He's a musician
that everyone loves. And then when he didn't realize all
the fans were watching him, when the cameras were, and
the cat when he didn't realize the cameras were a
rolling yeah, wearing on him, the true de la Cruz

(50:45):
came out and uh again, I don't know Ken Rosenthal,
but it felt like that's how it felt like Smiley
bow Tie Ken Rosenthal, who's like, ah shucks, nerdy bow Tie,
Like when cameras are when he doesn't know you're watching,
he might just be a jerk. What I did appreciate
in the apology, though, was the fact that he did
acknowledge that, yeah, even from my perspective looking back, I

(51:09):
do look back an ass. I'll give him the benefit
of the doug because I don't know him, but I've heard before.

Speaker 3 (51:13):
This sounded to me like you want a tower bell
to fall on top of him, right.

Speaker 1 (51:17):
Yeah, I think we could all agree it wasn't a
good look for the guy.

Speaker 2 (51:21):
Yeah. And then the other very viral baseball moment was
Anthony Rizzo.

Speaker 1 (51:29):
One last thing about him is, yeah, we've seen this
with reporters, women and men on camera in a studio.
You ever see there was a clip where some woman like
like like aggressively pushes away like a makeup woman because
like she was trying to do a last minute touch
up as the camera was rolling. It's it would only
be charming and endearing if you embrace that moment instead

(51:50):
of looking like a jerk. And we've seen this one
too many times. Working in the world we work in
that you hear stories like, man, can you believe that
guy or girl was so rude to the people they
work with, And you're.

Speaker 2 (52:01):
Like, how do they how do they get away with it?
It's like the person who mistreats the the the wait staff.
You know, it's like it's a sign of character. Yeah,
it really is.

Speaker 1 (52:11):
And it seems like we caught him in an awkward
Oh man, maybe he's the greatest guy, but that you know,
to me, that's a oh that's who you really are?
Huh Okay? At least it felt that way.

Speaker 5 (52:21):
I thought his apology sounded like one of his reports
from the dugout. To be honest with you, like how
he delivers it because it is a unique style. It
didn't seem like slow and drawn out, and it felt
like that explanation and that apology wasn't it felt like
it was the same thing.

Speaker 1 (52:38):
By the way, another side note, you see the Bananas
selling out Yankee Stadium like they're just sweeping the nation.
Huh yeah, the Savannah Bananas. Honestly, I mean we meet
this point a million times, but they're really like they're moving.
I heard it's amazing what they're doing. And everyone wants
to come out for an our pal Nicole who I

(52:58):
do that my parenting podcast, So that's incredible.

Speaker 2 (53:01):
Have kids?

Speaker 1 (53:01):
They said, Yeah, Nicole was invited there and she said
that she Eli Manning was next to her with his
kids and Swish Alsh boy was like a guest umpire, right, Yeah,
so like Joe Torri was a guest manager. Every city
they go to, it seems like whether it's for their
kids or not, everyone wants to be involved.

Speaker 2 (53:19):
You know why. I was amazed by this. I mean
am a Yankees fan.

Speaker 1 (53:22):
B it's a massive colisseum of a stadium, and I
know they're selling out everywhere they go. I get all that,
but there's a part of me that feels that New
Yorkers are maybe a little too cool for something like that,
not at all, Like the hype wouldn't be the same
as it would be in Middle America. It was even
take yeah, because New York is just oversaturated with things.
It seemed like everybody loved the bananas, and they really

(53:43):
if you could win over New Yorkers that way, you're
onto something. You know what he's saying, because when the
Super Bowl was in New York, New York had this
attitude of like, yeah, super Bowl, big deal with New York,
and it didn't care. They embraced the bananas, and I
have it's amazing. I have an update on a hypothetical
I gave you okay, and now the hypothetical. I'm curious
way you land on this. Maybe six months ago, beginning

(54:05):
of the baseball season, I said, Cavino, would you rather.

Speaker 2 (54:12):
Throw out a first pitch up as an emergency alert?
Highway patrol? Is there a high speed chase? Uh oh,
police chase? Somebody?

Speaker 1 (54:23):
Let TMZ know. I heard they're huge on please chase. Yes,
by the way, you got to turn it off. It
doesn't stop there, you go. I gave you the hypothetical
a while back. I said, Cavino, would you want to
throw out the first pitch at a pack Savannah Bananas
game sixty thousand people or a Colorado Rockies game with
like five thousand people there? And you said, Bro, without

(54:46):
a doubt, the Rockies. It's major League Baseball, bananas are
the Rockies. You were adamant that your answer was the Rockies.
I'm adamant. Like adamant, I'm still to who's on my choice?
And I'm still what stick in and stand in my ground?
What if it were Covino throughout the first pitch at
a Rockies game or the Savannah Bananas at Yankee Stadium?

(55:09):
Oh well, that's a good one because, like I said,
it was cool to see and that what stood out
to me is you know, that's Yankee Stadium, so it
means a little more to me. So when I see
the love that the bananas are getting there, it is
crazy to see. That changes things. But I'd still take
the big league game. I think, I really, I really would,
because he's because I'm a fan of the MLB.

Speaker 2 (55:30):
I thought I had you there.

Speaker 1 (55:32):
This seems like I'm not saying it's a fad, but
it's still more of a fad right now. You know,
years from now, I'd love to say, yeah, I threw
out a first pitch out a big league game, not
like a Globetrotters of Baseball spectacular. But that's not the
downplay the greatness that they've been able to achieve.

Speaker 2 (55:49):
Props to them. Something else you noticed over the weekend, I.

Speaker 1 (55:55):
Mean about the fight about the whole card, about Netflix presentation,
anything pop out at you or besides the fact that
Canelo was the favorite but seemed to have no answers
for for Crawford.

Speaker 2 (56:05):
That was That was besides Mario Lopez.

Speaker 3 (56:08):
Start with how long the walk up the walkouts were, dude,
Well it was like ani concert.

Speaker 2 (56:13):
You know, order pizza and it had to be delivered.

Speaker 3 (56:15):
By the time the walkout, they were already running behind.

Speaker 1 (56:18):
There was a lot of chatter and we just wanted
to fight to start concerts. We were trying to figure
out what the hell's going on dueling concerts no, because
we're like, does Crawford have.

Speaker 2 (56:28):
Mariacci's going on? Like, why does Crawford have Mariacci's going
on guitar?

Speaker 1 (56:33):
And he did the whole Antonio banderis Desperado thing, He
did the once upon a Time in Mexico sort of thing,
and I thought that once I saw the guitar, but
that was his whole sort of homage to his Mexican fans,
which you could also take as a dig to Canelo's fans,
but he gets a lot of Mexican support is Mexican
Independence Weekend.

Speaker 3 (56:53):
And then everyone at a Legiance got to see tool.

Speaker 1 (56:56):
Yeah, which was also so like a weird sort of thing,
but you're right. I think the overall observation here was
how massive this event was at Allegiance Stadium. I'm like,
look at all the people here, but how long the
entrance was as a result, and yeah, that threw me off,
But Crawford did have Mariachi's there as well.

Speaker 2 (57:16):
A lot of stars came out. I thought that was
an observation.

Speaker 1 (57:18):
You saw a lot of people ringside, including the whole
time right there next to the shekh And was that
Jyson Steifem You say, you know what the observation was,
which I went viral Turkey Ala Chic and Dana White,
who you know, put this event together. They're there front
and center, front row, and they're looking at the monitors
the whole time. That's kind of interesting in itself. It's like,

(57:42):
you're right there.

Speaker 2 (57:43):
I get it. If you're you know, a few rows back,
you're right there ringside watch.

Speaker 1 (57:49):
I mean, we've been at plenty of fights where you
find yourself watching the monitor, and that's the truth. It happens.
But I saw people observing that. And yes, right next
to Turkey Ala Chic, who's the guy responsible for putting
all these ridiculous fights together because he has the money
to do that was Jason Staveham. At least they lookalikes
ste and mister Beast and a bunch of other celebrities

(58:09):
that you saw. Mike Tyson on hand, Mike Tithan was
there and Michael Fox.

Speaker 3 (58:13):
Was Tyson a punch to the midsection.

Speaker 1 (58:16):
Yes, you know. They they love to do. They playing
to the crowd. They showed the most likable people, Michael J.
Fox and Mike Tyson, and then they showed Logan Paul
and everyone just booed and he tipped down his sunglasses.
So listen, big stars are out. I don't think the
fight was bad. I just think that we were all
waiting for Canelo to really unload it to see if
Crawford could take it.

Speaker 2 (58:37):
But he was how he was out boxed.

Speaker 1 (58:39):
Right absolutely, So I can't debate that Crawford brought his best.
As everyone said, it's the sweet science that they talk about.
He gave a masterclass in boxing. Hit and not get hit,
and that's exactly what Crawford did, and he beat Canelo
to every punch. He had an answer to every Canelo flurry.
Right he Canelo looked flustered towards the later rounds. There

(59:00):
was a couple times where visibly he like just looks aggravated,
like I can't do what I'm trying to do, and
that was noticeable the first time I saw visible frustrated
body language from Canelo Alvarez because he was getting tagged.
Nobody hurt anybody, I don't think in that fight. But
everything that Crawford did worked on Canelo. He fought an

(59:22):
amazing fight. And to be the man, you gotta beat
the man. So there's no debate. But here's the question.
Crawford won fair and square. There's two questions. Was he
always the best and just got his chance? Was he
always the goat and guys like Canelo always got the glory?
The reality is if he's undefeated and then went up

(59:44):
in weight class to fight Canelo and one, no, no, no,
that skipped the weight class. Yeah, yeah, I went up
two weight classes. So it's like, have we been under
understating and underplaying Terrence Bud Crawford this whole time?

Speaker 2 (59:54):
He's always been one of the best, But was he
the best this whole time? Exactly? Something we'll never know.
But if you go by he beat the goat, then
he's the undisputed dude.

Speaker 3 (01:00:04):
How gracious was he after the fight in the ring
and then the video afterwards where he returns the belts
to Canelo and Soolo's family.

Speaker 2 (01:00:12):
Yeah, I don't think anyone win. That's what's cool about it.
The only criticism is that he's not a flashy guy, right,
but he brings it in the ring. He brought the fight.

Speaker 1 (01:00:22):
And the other question is when you've seen the top
of the mountain and you beat the goat and you
put this exclamation point on your career and you got
the undisputed one sixty eight all four belts, you're not
going up and wait again, I don't think.

Speaker 2 (01:00:41):
So what's left?

Speaker 1 (01:00:42):
You already beat the guy, but if they're still a
desire tired or he cash in there, because if they're
still a desired danny I was telling Kamino earlier, if
he could fight maybe two more times for the record.

Speaker 2 (01:00:50):
He got like ten million, and Canelo got one hundred million.

Speaker 1 (01:00:53):
So if you're Bud Crawford and you could maybe fight
one or two more fights that you know you could win,
don't you deserve it at this point to just had
your wallet a little bit.

Speaker 3 (01:01:01):
About if Crawford goes down to one fifty one and
fights Mayweather, just well that.

Speaker 2 (01:01:06):
Becomes a debate too.

Speaker 1 (01:01:07):
Yeah, and that's one of the first things he's asked
and Canelo's asked. Canelo said that Crawford is way better
than Mayweather. And then Crawford again took the high road.
How could you not like the guy? Again, he's saying, look,
Mayweather was the best in his era, I'm the best
in mine.

Speaker 2 (01:01:22):
And he proved that last night.

Speaker 1 (01:01:24):
He's the best at one forty seven fifty four, one
sixty eight and it's just amazing to see. And Canelo,
even in defeat, was was a champion but when you
make a hundred million bucks, you must feel pretty good regardless.
But your observations from the fight eight seven, seven ninety
nine on Fox, we'll talk Anthony Rizzo, more boxing, more football.

(01:01:46):
In a minute, I'm gonna kick it to Dan Bayer
in the feel of Max Kellerman.

Speaker 2 (01:01:51):
Okay, here we got ready. So Dan, what.

Speaker 1 (01:01:58):
Is going through your line when it comes to the
NFL Week two?

Speaker 5 (01:02:04):
I'm thinking a lot of quarterbacks. Max, I truly am
injured quarterback.

Speaker 2 (01:02:09):
But his h he was a little too like thought
out in those questions.

Speaker 1 (01:02:13):
I don't know if he saw or he was figuring
it out as I got a lot of criticisms.

Speaker 2 (01:02:16):
I missed it.

Speaker 5 (01:02:17):
You know, didn't invite me Saturday, so I did not
get a chance to see it.

Speaker 2 (01:02:21):
I did invite anybody, No, you didn't.

Speaker 5 (01:02:23):
Everybody else was here, Like Danny said it like nine
times during the show when I was at your place,
Cavino the other night.

Speaker 2 (01:02:30):
Forget you hit me up. No, No, I didn't invite anybody.

Speaker 3 (01:02:33):
I was invited to Riches every holiday. That's true.

Speaker 2 (01:02:37):
It wasn't that kind. Maybe he come over rich.

Speaker 3 (01:02:41):
David lives on the border of San Diego County. He
would not have made it dry, nor Danny not.

Speaker 1 (01:02:47):
So Anthony Rizzo was all over your social media feed.
Got to give him props just for being one of
the most likable guys and normal guys around. Gotta because
the moment he gets the chance, he's in the bleachers
with the Cubs fans, and the fans were so pumped
about it. He was having a great time. He always

(01:03:09):
wanted to sit out there and enjoy a game with
the Cubs fans.

Speaker 2 (01:03:12):
He got a chance to do that.

Speaker 3 (01:03:13):
Wearing that special jersey with all the autographs from cancer patients.

Speaker 2 (01:03:17):
Oh so cool.

Speaker 1 (01:03:19):
Yeah, all autographed and you know, just all smiles, all
high fives. And then there's a dude on the Cubs
how do you say his last name? Danny g Moysis
Ballesteros Bilastetos.

Speaker 2 (01:03:33):
Gets his first big league home run and who does
he hit it to?

Speaker 1 (01:03:37):
But the odds of this, do you understand the layers
of odds that it's like nuts.

Speaker 3 (01:03:42):
This is why it was all over our social media.

Speaker 1 (01:03:44):
I mean because when you look at the layers of all, Right,
Rizzo had to go to the game, you gotta sit
in the bleachers, which, by the way, I believe he
sat with Eddie Vedder.

Speaker 2 (01:03:52):
Yeah, Eddie Vedder was crashed there and Cindy Crawford, Sidey Crawford.
He got to do the cup snake right the no.

Speaker 1 (01:03:58):
But even Eddie Vedder was like, I have agree, I'm here,
one of my favorite players, and yeah, so he was there,
Rizzo's there, but you're right, he'd have to be sitting
there for this dude's first home run opportunity. And then
the ball has to go in his direction. You mean,
one of the most shorthanded guys ever. So Bellosteros hits

(01:04:20):
a home run right to Rizzo and Rizzo drops it, Yeah,
bounces off his hands, some other Gibbroni grabs it.

Speaker 2 (01:04:31):
That guy's pumped. But what a cool moment.

Speaker 1 (01:04:33):
And then to cap it off, Ian happ then throws
the ball right to Rizzo and he actually caught it. Yeah,
and snags the ball and it had one hundred dollars
bill on it, and it had a note that says,
here's to never having to buy a beer in Chicago,
which is cool because again he was just sitting out
there like a normal person having fun, and it just

(01:04:56):
reminds you, like, some of these guys are really cool
and I always felt that way about Rizzo, and I
think that's why people love him.

Speaker 2 (01:05:02):
He's that guy, and I think that I'm surprised you
don't see more of that.

Speaker 1 (01:05:07):
You know, MLB players, I didn't know this that they
all get like a gold card. Is this like a
common fact that they all could go to any game
whenever they want for free? They just go to the
box office and they get best available. That every Major
League Baseball player that ever played gets a gold I've
heard that before. Yeah, so I don't think it's common out.
I'm surprised more players don't undercover do this because it
sounds pretty cool. It's like you at Wendy's when I
go back in the day, do you know me? Richards

(01:05:30):
v iv all right, so tonight, I think tonight's say
a simple one. I don't love to wager on these
Monday night games early on because she still don't know.
But my instinct is it's Bucks of Texans and Texans
are favored by two and a half. I would do
an old school Dicky do Teaser Cavino Teasers. They call
him Dicky Douse Teer does Teaser Town. I like the

(01:05:54):
Bucks plus eight and a half and the Raiders plus
nine and a half, just get you know, two underdogs
getting over a touchdown. I anticipate close games, no blowouts.
You know you had one bunk game last night for
Sunday Night Football. But I feel like two games that
are single digit victory, So take the points in both.
We'll see you guys tomorrow. Until then, see you in

(01:06:17):
