(01:27):
We share funny moments, memorable moments from the past few years,
and tons of giveaways Maniana on the show and later today,
like we always do on Thursdays, old school win fifty.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
Hits, We reminisce, we throw it back. We'll talk some
NFL stories where people were written off.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
Yeah, but guess what guys like Gino Smith didn't right back.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
Are you talking about Indiana Jones? Yes, yeah, so Daniel Jones.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
Other examples of that. We're gonna talk old school win
fifty hits. So in about forty seven minutes every Thursday,
we throw it back and we reminisce and we get
you involved at eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox,
and we're gonna talk about, well, it's kind of rare
to strike gold more than once. Some people have done
it three times, and we'll explain, like you hit it

(02:14):
big more than once. We'll talk about it here on
the show. But I think it's the debate that's sweeping
the nation right now, and I just don't get it.
Remember in the movie Big, I don't get it. I
don't get it. I just don't get it. What don't
you get I don't understand how people's hate of the
Yankees is really clouding their logic, their common sense.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
Judge is your MVP.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
I don't care how many home runs cal Raley hits.
He's having a magical season. I think cal Rale's great
for Seattle. Congrats on their victory yesterday. Congrats on his
two home runs. By the way, Judge also hit two
home runs yesterday. Are you guys failing to realize that
Judge leads the MLB in almost every other category? Gets

(02:57):
how many categories? Cal ralei leads the MELB in one
home runs? If that was the be all end all?
Why didn't Judge win the MVP in twenty seventeen when
he gave it to al Tuve that turn.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
You get a eddy You keep forgetting this a whole
other side of the game.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
Defense Catcher, where Judge is also pretty stellar incubus style.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
Hold on, I just saw he's stellar in the outfield.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
They're acting like this guy's some sort of slum He
made one error last year and everyone keeps bringing that up.
I got so many reasons as to why it's so
clearly Judge. I need to understand why you think it's
cal Rowley because he hit sixty home runs. You defending Judge,
I was like fighting with my wife about something where
I know I'm not gonna win.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
Get You're ridiculous.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
It's the it's the debate that's sort of dividing the
country right now. And you know what, it's better than
late night TV and politics or anything else, So we
might as.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
Well lean into the honest. This is way more fun
to argue about.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
Judge has played forty percent of his games this year
at the DH position, which means he has done nothing
because he was hurt and he's still dominated. He still
led the team and when he's in the field. Not
a Gold Glover and cal Raley not only a gold
Glover last year, he was a Platinum Glover, which.

Speaker 1 (04:06):
Means the best overall defender.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
So did you hear what I said before about Judge
leading the Major leagues in everything major leagues. Cal Rawley
leads the AL in RBI, not the major leagues. He
leads the major leagues in home runs and that's it.
And you know what, and people kissing his dumper, people
kissing his ass. That's a pretty sweet People hate the
Yankees so much, you know you're letting it get in
the way of the actual truth, which is Aaron Judge

(04:31):
is so exceptional and so great. You should be embracing
his greatness, not trying to tear him down, just to
lift up cal Raley. It's the conversation that just keeps
going on and on and on and again. People just
want to ignore the stats and hate on the Yankees.
That's really a and of course Judge fatigue, which we
pointed out throughout the week. Take take it, Take a
deep breath. We're gonna get to a bunch today. We

(04:52):
got a lot of NFL to talk about. Wild card
races are heating up.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
We got some food in the studio. Our buddy is
from Chile.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
John's my buddy Mike, the oldest restaurant in Burbank. They
got the tap room, Wings, Chili Dog. Why do you
think Iowa, Sam and Dandy Gee, are so quiet. They're
eating wings over there.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
That's true. Yeah, welcome super producer Danny g not.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
That any Actually, I saved my plate for after the show,
all right.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
Eight seven seven Yeah, he's taking some of the whole
family eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox, Iowa Samuel
on the Ones and twos, DJ Sammy sweetheart Sam?

Speaker 1 (05:24):
How good were those? Would you have Tendy's. I've had
a bite of the chili cheese dog excellent so far.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
Tenders are great and the wings are great.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
That means great, means really Hilly John's and Dan Yer
is here. You know what, Dan, You've been so kind
and polite with your take on cal Raley. We were
fighting about it the other day and I noticed you
sort of sat back and let us fight.

Speaker 3 (05:45):
Yes, what are your thoughts?

Speaker 1 (05:47):
Your thoughts? I do value your thoughts tremendous.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
It's not that deep.

Speaker 4 (05:51):
I and I'll just say this, I will tend to
go to the guy that I don't think will win
it again. So if it's I'm going with cal Raleigh,
I think Judges, Judges won it. He'll always be in
the conversation cal Rally may But we don't know. I
just I always side with that. Honestly, guys that do

(06:12):
it with the the NBA MVP, which I think that's
how they vote, and that may make people frustrated or mad.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
That's not a charity vote. I don't care.

Speaker 2 (06:20):
You know what, I'll give it an Now, do you
know when you watch a fight UFC, your boxing, you
have to judge round by round and you can't go
back and change around because like it's like, oh, well,
you know that's a closer fight than I thought. Maybe
I'll go back and give Canelo a round two. That's
not how it works. You judge around and you move on.
Because I'll back Kiving up on one and only point
because I think it's cal Raley that should win. But

(06:41):
we can't not give it to Judge because we're tired
of him and like the joker in the NBA, he
can't be like, oh, he's already won a bunch. But
they arguably did that to Lamara Jackson last year when
they gave it to josh Allen. Not that Josh Allen
didn't deserve it, just like cal Raley doesn't deserve it,
but you could say that maybe Lamar Jackson won, so
we'll give it to him, Dude, Judge deserves this. I

(07:04):
think that is pretty clear when you see that he
leads in almost everything.

Speaker 4 (07:07):
But the previous years weren't a bar on what was
and what wasn't an MVP caliber season. And I say
that because Lamar's season last year passer wise, I believe
is fourth best in NFL history as a passer.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
That was last.

Speaker 4 (07:24):
Season, so that I believe there are only three other
seasons that were better, couple by Aaron Rodgers. So it's
tough to argue against that if you're for Lamar. But
the bar that Josh Allen say passed when Lamar won
it two years ago, that tells me that his campaign
was worthy enough at that point to be a Most

(07:44):
Valuable Player. And if you see where these teams are,
specifically with the Mariners now winning the division, I think
that also lends to Raleigh and what he's done.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
So that's where I go with it.

Speaker 4 (07:55):
I disagree with Rich, like Rich doesn't agree with my thinking,
but I do tend to all that way with this award.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
I can't say in that away from cal Rawley, but
you can't take that away from Judge either.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
The Yankees would be doodo PI without his leadership, without
him putting up the numbers when he was hurt, those
eight ten games whatever, they were terrible.

Speaker 1 (08:12):
So he is that difference maker for the Yankees as well.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
And what do they always say about Cakler Rawley for
a great ass, blah blah blah for a catcher, great
ass for a catcher, home runs for a catcher. Dude,
Since when please tell me baseball fans, do we vote
on some sort of curve or give bonus charity sympathy
votes because he's a catcher. Since when is that part
of the voting. I don't think it's sympathy. I think

(08:36):
what you're saying is Aaron Judge played half the season
on the on the you know, sit on the bench
playing DH and cal Raley is managing a pitching staff
cal rally has it was less than him defensive defensively
plays a part. And again, the Yankees are a playoff
favorite every year they make the postseason regardless.

Speaker 1 (08:56):
It seems right.

Speaker 2 (08:57):
Yeah, but that's why the Mariner against Judge. Judge is
a great guy for baseball. Not that cal Rawley's not
a great story. And it's great to see what he's doing.
And I love the fact that he's even making this
a debate, and I love to see what he did
last night. I thought it was amazing he hit his sixtieth.
I thought he'd sit on fifty nine. I really did,
because I know so much pressure involved with getting that one.
More so he continues to impress. I love what he's

(09:18):
done for Seattle. I love what he's done for baseball.
But to me, it's so clear that it's Judge.

Speaker 4 (09:23):
Isn't isn't this in we don't want to talk politics,
but isn't this should the rich pay more taxes sort
of argument? It really is like with like, there's just
more of a tax that Aaron Judge has to pay,
and he may have surpassed that. It may have paid
all of those taxes, but there are more benefits to
being a Yankee. The fact that cal Rally hit forty
eight home runs this year, he's not even coming close

(09:45):
to the to the conversation, which would have been a
magnificent season for him. But I think in a way,
like there's a Yankee tax. In a lot of ways
the being a Yankee is good. Here's one of the
ways where it's held against him.

Speaker 2 (09:57):
Now, no spot, you're an expert movie history correct, there
have been times and hot wings.

Speaker 1 (10:03):
I'll go with those wings. I mean Chili.

Speaker 4 (10:07):
I also took it by the way, I took a
tender and then I dipped it into the wings stuff
that was left.

Speaker 2 (10:13):
Yeah, yeah, champbyre props again to Chili John's thanks for
the anniversary food appreciated, Fellas. Now spot, I want you
to give a long answer, so I could eat while
you answer.

Speaker 3 (10:24):
But no.

Speaker 1 (10:26):
In movie history, there have.

Speaker 2 (10:27):
Been times where someone wins an Academy Award not for
their best movie, but it's almost like a h it's
a charity award. It's like the you know, not the charity, like, well,
you know you didn't win.

Speaker 1 (10:36):
For this show.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
He want for this rich as someone deservings expense, and
that would be Aaron Judge and he got robbed in
twenty seventeen. Like I said, I just don't understand cal Rowley.
You can't take away from being the home run leader,
magical season, MVP of the Mariners. Whatever award you want
to give him, Slugger Award, Hank, Aaron Award.

Speaker 1 (10:55):
I don't care.

Speaker 3 (10:55):
Whatever.

Speaker 2 (10:55):
Give him a high five, everybody, give him hug right.
I sent him an edible arrangement. I don't think he's
better than Aaron Judge this year or ever. Listen to
the call last night though, on cal Raley's sixtieth home run.
I want to hear the TV call because I feel
like the excitement was off the off the charts.

Speaker 1 (11:17):
Catch sixty home runs.

Speaker 5 (11:22):
You.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
Your MVP moment like that.

Speaker 2 (11:29):
They got to throw a catcher in there a catchery day.
Aaron Judge is Franken sin Ass is sitting on the
bench waiting for his next at bat. Well, cal Raley
is squatting down managing a pitcher on.

Speaker 1 (11:43):
Baseball or catch baseball fans.

Speaker 2 (11:45):
Yeah, but he's he's painting his picture as if like
Aaron Judge is just the DH. He got injured, he
hurt his arm. Therefore, that's why everyone's outfield impression of
Aaron Judges running against the wall or dropping a ball,
because he's just the Dhu's let's get that here so
so that we can move on to wildcard baseball and
other other thoughts.

Speaker 1 (12:04):
Oh, it's been great, though, Rich, it is. It's great, man.
I love arguing with you about baseball. It's fun for me.

Speaker 2 (12:10):
And I gotta say this again, I actually really like
cal RAI. I think he's a nice dude. I think
he's great for the team. He's fun to watch. He
was dominanting the derby. We were there. It was electric.
Not trying to take anything away from the guy. But
when you start trying to take something away from Judge
just because you like the story, that's gonna grind my goat. Yes,
I said grind my goat, combining two of your favorite phrases.

(12:34):
It gets my goat and grinds my gears. So, first
of all, we don't take for granted these cool moments.
We got to see Aaron Judge and cal Rowley both
take batting practice up close at the MLB All Star
Game this year, and both of those guys, when you're
on the field five feet from them, and Kevino looked

(12:58):
out Altuve next to him.

Speaker 1 (13:00):
You did next to them.

Speaker 2 (13:01):
Yeah, it's it's pretty remarkable that these guys are mammots, right.
My one last question before we get to some NFL
and some other baseball stuff. If cal Rowley hits sixty
two and that surpasses or ties Aeron Judge with sixty
two or god forbid Cavino, he goes out a tear
of the final four games. If he ties or beats

(13:24):
Aaron Judge's al home.

Speaker 1 (13:25):
Run record, that's tough. Does he not get the MVP
in four games?

Speaker 2 (13:32):
Man, I'd have to think about it a little harder.

Speaker 3 (13:36):
I wouldn't.

Speaker 1 (13:36):
That's pretty amazing.

Speaker 2 (13:37):
I think Aaron Judge should send you an edible arrange
because last year you were saying that if there were
one MVP, it would be Judge instead of Otani.

Speaker 1 (13:44):
Thank god there's.

Speaker 2 (13:45):
Two, and we argued fifty to fifty. Season you a kulkus,
like you just love Aaron Judge. You know what's funny
is I don't even love Aaron Judge way I love
like a Derek Jeeter or something. It's just he's so
undeniably good that you take it for granted.

Speaker 6 (13:59):
You know.

Speaker 2 (13:59):
It's like and we do that in life, and it's
a bad quality trade. Honestly, I feel like it's a
bad character trait. Someone's extra kind and you start just
taking that for granted and you don't realize it's like
your wife.

Speaker 1 (14:10):
Truly.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
I don't think rich how wonderful his wife is. My
wife is the easiest person to be her out and
I do best all the time, and I don't notice
it until I see someone else's, like a buddy's wife
bust their balls, and I'm like, oh, you have to
deal with that, right. So it's like you should get
less of a recognition because he consistently does it.

Speaker 1 (14:32):
You know, you guys are just bored by it. That's
on you. That's not fair.

Speaker 2 (14:36):
So your thoughts continue to bring him. But after last
night we had to talk about it again. It was
an incredible night here. I am so excited that Judge
hit two bombs only to see kel Rally hit his
own two and get to number sixty. It's a great time.
We're approaching postseason, ghost season. Embrace it, enjoy it, and
watch the greats to do their thing.

Speaker 1 (14:56):
So one more cal.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
Rally thought, did you see the dude that caught the
sixtieth home run ball handed it over to a kid?

Speaker 1 (15:04):
That is my one exception.

Speaker 2 (15:05):
We've had this conversation over the years, what do you
do if you catch a ball? I always say, if
it's a random foul ball or homework, give it to
a kid.

Speaker 1 (15:13):
But I don't know. You don't give away home run
number sixty to a kid, do you? No?

Speaker 2 (15:18):
Not a chance? That guy's a bigger man than me
for sure. And I don't mean height, I mean as
a person, No way, I'm keeping that ball all day.
Sixty home runs, I mean you give away espe cal
Rolly home run number sixty and that's Raley that's judged.
Two guys that are tearing it up. Did you see
what happened earlier today? I hated this because as a

(15:39):
Mets fan, I'm hoping the Reds lose because they're right
on the Mets tail. The Mets have a one game lead,
and as you know, the Reds have the tiebreaker bottom
of the knife. I'm sorry, top of the knife in Cincinnati.
Pittsburgh looks like they're about to tie it up with
a home run to right field, and Arte jumps over

(16:01):
the fence and catches it, and the game is over.

Speaker 7 (16:04):
Over the fence, he swings high fly right field, Marte
all the way back, leaps at the wall.

Speaker 3 (16:17):
Unreal field.

Speaker 2 (16:21):
But dude, that's why we come in here so passionate
about this because every little thing matters right now. And
that was so cool, man, such a big moment, such
a big play, And.

Speaker 1 (16:30):
It's that time of year again.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
Last year was so fun with Dannyg's Dodgers, your Mets
are still in it, My Yankees, the Mariners. I mean,
this is great man, great for everybody, great for sports,
great for baseball, and that play was incredible. But for
the record, he didn't jump like over the fence and
catch it. He jumped and leaves. Yeah, now he jumped
over the fence, not over. But yeah, it was amazing.
It was amazing. Well, hey, any feedback baseball heating up

(16:54):
football heading into week four.

Speaker 1 (16:57):
Eight, seven, seven, nine, nine on Fox.

Speaker 4 (16:59):
Just one final thing with this guys, because I don't
care about the Mariners. I don't care about the Yankees,
but we don't want a co MVP, right, like we
don't want we don't want to tie.

Speaker 1 (17:09):
No, I don't.

Speaker 2 (17:10):
I'd rather Rolly win than than a co envy. Do
you know the co MVP like we want to even
we were a born hit. Do you remember I believe
it was Willy Stargell and Keith Hernandez were co MVPs
on one year and I remember thinking that's not a
week sauce. Can you double check um right? I think
it was when he when Keith was on the Cardinals.
I think it was Willie and Keith were co MVPs,

(17:31):
and I'm like, well that's sort of not awesome, Like
do you want to share an MVP? Or is that
you look back and say, well I won the MVP.
What do you always have to say?

Speaker 1 (17:41):
Share it?

Speaker 2 (17:41):
Yeah, No one wants to tie and boxing, sharing awards,
none of that stuff. We don't want straws. We don't
want ties. We don't want to share MVP awards.

Speaker 3 (17:49):
Seventy nine.

Speaker 2 (17:49):
Seventy nine, the year I was born, the Willie Stargell
and Keith best mustache in town.

Speaker 1 (17:56):
Hernandez tied it. That's wild. I think it's alone should
have put him over the top.

Speaker 2 (18:01):
Anyone here at the network get votes besides Rob Parker,
I know Rob Parker, a journalist.

Speaker 1 (18:05):
Anyone.

Speaker 2 (18:06):
Oh, by the way, so you can out Rob Parker,
who dedicates his life to the MLB, right, he's the
MLB bro says he completely agrees with me.

Speaker 1 (18:17):
One vote for Judge and by the way, no Judge,
it's not it's not mine.

Speaker 2 (18:24):
Someone jeffs there's a part of me that just wants
to prepare everybody. I think if they come with any
sensical judgment here and leave their hate to the Yankees aside,
I really think Judge is gonna win this, so I
want to like put the fire out before it even starts, like,
don't be all said when your boy rally doesn't win.

Speaker 1 (18:43):
That's really sort of my side here. I really think
Judge is gonna win.

Speaker 4 (18:47):
What I love about Covino's argument because it's true and
it's it's not fake, it's not manufactured. Is It's not
that you're denying cal Raley is having a bad season
or not a great season. It's just that everybody else
can can't see the greatness of Judge. And I think
that that is that is an interesting angle that we
aren't appreciating truly what Aaron Judge has done because we

(19:09):
all think that it's so close, But in Covino's eyes,
it's not even close at all.

Speaker 2 (19:14):
Dan Byron, he has sixty home runs cal Rawly and
Aaron Judge still beats him his slugging.

Speaker 1 (19:20):
Percentage, I know, and war yeah.

Speaker 2 (19:23):
And everything else and everything else. There's really not more
I can say about it. And it's not like he's
some guy you're root against. He's like such a likable
guy for baseball. Honestly, I think it's a little kind
of productive for baseball to not.

Speaker 1 (19:36):
Give him the award. He's the guy that I want.

Speaker 2 (19:39):
He's the dude that you want. It's like the Lakers
not making the playoffs, like you want that. You want
Aaron Judge to be that guy, he says you is
show hate, not the guy in the NL. Aaron Judge
is that guy for the al for the MLB. But
you know what, I do love the analogy that in
other areas of your life, it doesn't always need to
be a wife or a girlfriend. But you could have

(20:00):
a bus that's a pretty cool buss and you don't realize,
you know, he's an easy guy or easy woman to
work for, until you then work for a pain in
the ass and you're like, oh man, that person was
pretty awesome.

Speaker 1 (20:13):
And I know what you're saying.

Speaker 2 (20:14):
Aaron Judge is so automatic to hit three twenty three,
thirty fifty home runs and it's almost like yeah, yeah, yeah,
another fifty home run season or whatever, which, by the way,
it is his fourth and he's an elite company to
do that, to have four fifty plus home run seasons.
I think it was Barry Bonds, so Son maguire or
Babe Ruth right, those are the only people you know

(20:36):
what what I'm not mistaken. I want to let's take
these phone calls and during the break, I'm gonna post
a video on our Instagram at covine on Rich. There's
a video that I think Cavino, how do I say this?
On Fox Sports Radio he watches when he's alone. It's
a video when we're at the batting cage and Aaron
Judge stops his swing, looks back and waves a Cavino

(20:56):
because I told him. I told him like he's he's
opening up too far, and he's like, yeah, yeah, thanks
giving up. Yeah, so I gave him some advice. I'll
post that on our ig story at covid on Rich.
So let's go to Ryan and Seattle. Ryan, you're on
with cn R.

Speaker 8 (21:10):
What's up in Hey, guys, how you doing? I just
wanted to bring up the historical reference for what cal
Rawley's doing versus Judge. I respect Judge, love the average,
the runs, home runs, everything like that, ops, but Raleigh
with the PASSI in Mickey Mantle for the switch hitter
and well over it also the catching record, Yeah, just

(21:34):
destroying that. So the historical reference for Raleigh is pretty amazing.
I love baseball. I am a Mariners fan. I respect
everything what Judge is doing, but I love the historical
significance of what Rawley's doing.

Speaker 2 (21:48):
Hey, great call, Ryan. I love the fact that we're
all this passionate about Adam. I was just gonna say,
I love the fact that we're while we do talk
mostly NFL because NFL is king. I'm such a big
baseball fan, and so I love when everyone's involved. Let's
go a trip in Vegas.

Speaker 9 (22:02):
Hey trip, Hey guys, thanks for taking my call. I'll
give you a few points real quick. You're gonna and
caveno Yeah, always my boy. So batting average, and then
they're pitching to Raley. He beats two forty eight, who
leads the entire not American League Baseball Judge. And here's

(22:23):
another thing that you're gonna laugh about. It's like Ray
Allen when you're in Seattle, you're liking witness protection. Nobody
knows they're even going to the playoffs. They didn't even
know he could play until he got.

Speaker 2 (22:34):
The Boston So you're saying, people have been pitching trying
to pitch around Judge for years now and they just can't.
That's a point, Darren, Judge stu in Vegas wrapped this
up for now, it's up to I.

Speaker 10 (22:45):
Agree that I think sometimes you ignore the person like
Lebron probably lost four MVPs. But I think in this
because of how much the wear and tear of playing
a catcher takes on you, I don't think you've ever
done it. I have, and it sucks. So maybe if
Aaron was hitting sixty and he had two two pound

(23:06):
weights on each lag, that would maybe be the overall
effect of out where boring down you get.

Speaker 1 (23:11):
Bro, I get tired, I get tired.

Speaker 2 (23:12):
Run, I warm up a kid in the Little League
when I'm coaching for five minutes on my knee, you know,
get a craft position. I'm like most of us who
played sports didn't play catcher because we didn't want to. Yeah,
that's that is true true, as you know, as coach Rich,
the number one coach in the valley. Yeah, to get
a kid to want to catch, at any young level,
you have to be like, come on, kids who wants

(23:33):
to catch. It's not easy. We're going to take the
rest of your phone calls. Everybody's talking, especially after that
magical night last night. They both hit two home runs.
They're trying to out to each other baseball's heating up.
We still got football to talk about. But I also
want to thank you for hanging out with us and
Chili John's for bringing food and celebrating our three year
anniversary with us, and we continue to celebrate that tomorrow

(23:54):
right here on Covino and Rich.

Speaker 1 (23:57):
We'll get to your phone calls next. Hey, Danny J.

Speaker 2 (24:05):
Just want to give you a bro hug and a
high five and say thank you Dodgers for whooping Arizona
seventh inning, eighth nothing.

Speaker 3 (24:13):
Yeah, and about to clinch the NL West, Dude?

Speaker 1 (24:17):
Is that about?

Speaker 2 (24:18):
And about to put my Mets up one and a
half on the Diamondbacks. Now, I just got gotta get
rid of the pesky Reds. These games have been so
exciting and what happened in Seattle last night was amazing.
Congrats to them. Congrats to Raleigh. Yankees clinched this week
and it's been a fun one. Thank you guys for
hanging out with us. Covino and Rich. I really do radio,

(24:39):
I really do hope that you know we love football
as much as everyone and we're going to get to
the NFL. But I just hope that people sharing our
baseball love and excitement, especially during this time of year,
because even if you're a casual baseball fan, when there's
four games left and like multiple divisions and wild cards
aren't set yet, it is so close. Feel it's it
feels like posts in baseball. I was watching on MLB

(25:03):
this morning. I'm watching the reds Pirates game in September.

Speaker 1 (25:07):
Like what am I doing?

Speaker 2 (25:08):
But you know, fans know that every at bat, every hit,
every pitch, every error, everything matters this time of year. Well,
it's not not even at the postseason. It's the closest
we've seen it in years. And I do want to
say this too because I'm the one campaigning for Judge
right now. Yeah, I think it's amazing the impact count
Rawley has had on baseball fans all over the world

(25:31):
in this year, and what he's done for baseball is incredible.
I think he's incredibly likable and how he's brought this
team there, Like, I can't say enough about the dude.
I just don't think he's the MVP. It's as simple
as that. But I think he's incredibly great and that
goes without saying. But you know, what he's done for
the sport, I could do nothing but tip my Aaron
Judge Yankee hat and say a great job. So it's

(25:53):
not from a hateful place. I think he's fantastic again
Coveno and Rich live from the Fox Sports Radio Studio.
Remember the lgx PU grab is the portable speaker that
powers your hustle from morning coffee runs to midnight rooftop hangs.
Enjoy vibrant sound with up to twenty hours of playback,
and I'll save twenty five percent at LG dot com.
LG lives cool, laughs, goodly good. Did you know what

(26:15):
that's wrong? By the way, anyone in the room, quick quiz.
When Cavino goes, that's good, that's good, really good. Come on,
everybody knows that's not Joe Libre. I thought he was
doing like a like an LG tagline. He goes, dude,
this is not Joe Libre.

Speaker 1 (26:28):
Lies good.

Speaker 3 (26:29):
I thought you were doing. Ernest goes to camp.

Speaker 1 (26:31):
Really good, real good.

Speaker 2 (26:32):
Fall twenty five's the code bring the boom x boom
lives good, LG dot com and uh. As we wrap
up the baseball talk, I am guilty of something.

Speaker 1 (26:41):
I make fun of Cavino for us.

Speaker 2 (26:42):
I'll raise my hand and say We went out for
a nice dinner with a friend that was in town
last night, and I have the Dodgers Diamondbacks game on
my phone and I felt bad hav him and got on.

Speaker 1 (26:52):
But again, like you said, it's the excitement this three
four left.

Speaker 2 (26:54):
I'm like, man, yeah, this is great. It's great stuff,
and that's why we love sports. Takes your mind off
the nonsense. Is it much more fun to debate rally
and judged and some of the other things you're hearing
in the news.

Speaker 1 (27:05):
Yeah, that's true. It's way fun and that's why we
love it. And thank you guys.

Speaker 2 (27:08):
Now, in about fifteen minutes, we do old school and
fifty hits. We throw it back, and we're going to
talk about people striking gold. I don't mean no baby gold,
I don't mean Rich's forty nine ers. I'm talking about
you found success more than once in your industry, in
multiple industries.

Speaker 1 (27:24):
We'll explain. Yeah, let's say hi to David and Kentucky.
What's up, David, what's up?

Speaker 2 (27:30):
Guys?

Speaker 11 (27:31):
Hey buddy, Hey, I have a It's not really about
the MVP debate, but I do want to mention this
and twenty two when Judge was chasing Maris to break
his record after sixty one years. It was the most
talked about thing, you know where we're going crazy about it.
They're stopping games showing this. This guy in Seattle is

(27:52):
generating to beat his record, you know, in the non
steroid era. And you know, I hear comments, man, he's
just hit sixty home runs? What I mean by Ruth
has only hit sixty homeless credit.

Speaker 2 (28:04):
You gonna be thinking about it that, babe, Ruth. And
you know what Aaron Judges record is? What sixty two?

Speaker 1 (28:08):
Sixty two?

Speaker 2 (28:08):
Yeah, this guy's two away from tying Judge four games.
He listen, baseball has been around since I think life
was in black.

Speaker 1 (28:15):
And white, right, since life is in black and white.

Speaker 2 (28:18):
And you know the home run record in the American
League sixty two done by your dude, Aaron Judge, and
it was the biggest deal in the world. Cal Rawley
hits three over the next four games.

Speaker 3 (28:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (28:29):
I don't want to root against the guy, but I
don't want to see him Judge. I get it. Thank you, David.
Let's go to Nate in New York State. What's up,
Nate the Great?

Speaker 11 (28:37):
What's up?

Speaker 3 (28:38):
Buddy?

Speaker 1 (28:38):
Hey man?

Speaker 2 (28:38):
No?

Speaker 8 (28:39):
Two quick things.

Speaker 12 (28:40):
So Judge has been walked intentionally walked about thirty three
thirty four times this year.

Speaker 1 (28:45):
And that's why he's on base percentage he's higher than well.

Speaker 12 (28:48):
That's also why you got to figure he's getting walked
in high leverage situations where this guy's on base, that's
gonna level up the RBI's right there, Homers, you never
know what that. But also, if the Yankees won the A,
does that not put him at the top.

Speaker 2 (29:03):
That's a great question, right if the Dodger of Dodgers,
If the Blue Jays hang on and the Yankees are
a wild card, I think that's a little strike again somehow.
If the Yankees battle back since Judgement healthy again and
make you the Yankees.

Speaker 1 (29:16):
That's a great that's a great thought there.

Speaker 2 (29:19):
If the Yankees, who are tied right now, they're tied
down with the Blue Jays, Let's say they win the
Al East. That's bragging rights for Judge. Let's say they
win and Rally doesn't get sixty three. If Robby gets
sixty three and the Yankees don't, like, how do you
bounce that? I made the boxing analogy before. Yeah, dare
I say this weekend series coming up the final three games.

(29:39):
Would you compare it to the championship rounds of boxing,
where if the Yankees fail and are the wild card,
or if Judge hits like three bombs and the Yankees
end up in first place, or what if the Mariners
you know, you know, stumble to the playoffs and rally
has a bad weekend? Does it matter you looking at
it like the championship rounds? Well, remember postseason shouldn't count.
It doesn't, so I won't count that. But what happens

(30:02):
from in the next four games might play a big factor.

Speaker 1 (30:05):
And that's how close everything those those.

Speaker 2 (30:08):
Videos are rallying Judge, I will post it a couple
of minutes after DB's update. I forgot too because I
was eating wings. I'm just being honest. Hey, we're celebrating
three years and remember the party continues tomorrow, so join us.
Let's take one more right now. Talk to a Reds
fan Vegas, Pete. What's up, man?

Speaker 5 (30:25):
My guys?

Speaker 1 (30:27):
What's up?

Speaker 3 (30:27):
Buddy?

Speaker 10 (30:27):
Yo?

Speaker 2 (30:28):
You and I are enemies for the next couple of days,
but you're Red save that game today?

Speaker 1 (30:31):
Hum? Marte?

Speaker 5 (30:33):
Oh you know what, man, It's the strangest thing with
those guys. They will beat the good teams, only to
get smacked around by like Pittsburgh and the A's a
couple of weeks ago.

Speaker 1 (30:42):
I mean, dare I say, Pete.

Speaker 2 (30:44):
I was talking to some of my Met fan buddies,
and I'm like, Reds, Diamondbacks, Mets. We can't expect any
of these teams. They're all on pace for like eighty three,
eighty four wins. So like when my buddy's like, oh,
the Reds are gonna sweep whoever, I'm like, the Reds
ain't sweeping anyone. The Mets aren't sweeping anyone. These teams
are average. We're just hoping to make, you know, magic
in the playoffs, like the teams that are fighting for
these final wild cards. You can't say you're great if

(31:06):
you're an eighty four win team, right, what's.

Speaker 1 (31:09):
Up, Pete?

Speaker 5 (31:10):
Real quick? On the MVP, guys, everybody's saying, oh, it's
a regular season blah blah blah blah blah blah.

Speaker 6 (31:16):
We get it.

Speaker 5 (31:17):
Can you name one person right now that should be
considered an MVP that's not in the playoff contention? I mean,
come on, guys, I mean think about it. Of course
you're gonna give the MVP to the best player for
the team, right, yep, Well that makes a lot of
sense because the guys that are front runners have put
their teams in a position to be in the playoffs

(31:40):
ie World Series, I E. MVP. I mean, god, guys,
it's not Rocket signed.

Speaker 2 (31:45):
They got it helps Yeah, I mean, Deans is gonna
probably be your SIJA. That is a week ass team.
He has the EURA is under two to finish the season.
Let's go to dB for an update. Damn Bayer, what's
up man.

Speaker 4 (31:57):
ADB Guys, the Dodger with the win today can clinch
the NL West and they're on their way up eight
nothing on the Diamondbacks show. Hey Otani home run number
fifty four for Rich's sake. Arizona started the day, came
back of the Mets for the final wildcard in the NL,
and right now on the track to fall a game
and a half back. Entering tonight, the Reds are a
half came back, as you mentioned, surviving that game against

(32:19):
the Pirates.

Speaker 1 (32:19):
Today Cincinnati gets.

Speaker 3 (32:21):
The win two to one.

Speaker 4 (32:22):
Is Nuelvie Marte rob Bryan Reynolds of a game timeing
home run with one out in the top of the
ninth inning. The Astros right now are a game back
of the Tigers for the final wildcard.

Speaker 3 (32:30):
In the AL.

Speaker 4 (32:31):
Right now, the Astros are on top of the Eights
nine to one in the bottom of the sixth inning
in Sacramento. Ryder Cup gets underway tomorrow morning. The Forsom's
pairings have been announced. At seven ten Eastern, Bryson de
Shambo and Justin Thomas team up for the USA against
John Rahm and Terrell Hatton on Team Europe. Another match
to watch in the morning, Rory McElroy and Tommy Fleetwood

(32:52):
will pair up for Team Europe against Colin Morikawa and
Harris English. In the NFL, Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin
is and straight practice today, as did Commanders running back
to Corey Krosskey Merrit Jaden Daniels was limited for the
Commanders as the quarterback tries to return from his knee injury,
jet said coach Aaron Gleunn said that quarterback Justin Fields
would start Monday against the Dolphins if he clears concussion protocol.

(33:15):
Fields practice today, but as yet to clear protocol. Panthers
wide receiver Ted McMillan returned to practice after sitting out
yesterday with a calf injury. Seahawks and Cardinals tonight eight
fifteen Eastern Time. Seahawks running back Zach Sharbonning expected to
play despite being questionable with a foot injury and some
Niners news. Head coach Kyle Shanahan said on cambi Our
earlier today that brock Party looked really good in practice

(33:38):
yesterday was limited, but he had some bad news for
those looking for a return from Brandon Nyuk says the
knee injury that he suffered last year was more than
just a torn acl So Ayuk isn't close to returning
anytime soon, as he's going to need more time to
rehab from this serious injury that he suffered a year ago.

Speaker 1 (33:56):
The anytime soon is so vague.

Speaker 2 (33:58):
I'm like anytime soon where there're people hoping for a
couple of weeks, we look at it like week eight
or ten or further.

Speaker 3 (34:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (34:04):
I thought we thought after week six. I thought like
after they're there by that maybe that that was a possibility.

Speaker 1 (34:08):
Maybe more like eight to ten.

Speaker 3 (34:10):
It did not sound like that. I don't want to
guess so, but that's what he said.

Speaker 2 (34:16):
All right, Thank you, Dan Byer. You know we talked
about all this MVP stuff and some wildcard baseball. Let's
take one quick phone call from Dan and Michigan to
wrap this. What's up, Dan, You're on C and R.

Speaker 6 (34:27):
Hey, guys, just turning in on that catch earlier.

Speaker 11 (34:30):
NOELB.

Speaker 6 (34:30):
Marte is a career infielder and he's had a couple
of rough moments in the outfield this year. So I
don't know if it makes it that much more impressive.
I know these guys are pros, and when people split positions,
we think, oh, they're pros making the handle it. But
pretty remarkable. Would you consider he's sitting most of the
time at like third base.

Speaker 2 (34:50):
Yeah, you go to right field and you make the
game saving catch. Props to Marte. Hell yeah, and Danny,
as long as Otani is pitching and hitting, could he
catch very at one point? Because this would be number
four this year, Bonds has seven.

Speaker 3 (35:04):
Long way to go, long way to go.

Speaker 2 (35:05):
But I mean, if I feel like, unless someone has
a remarkable Aaron Judge cal Rawley type of effort, I
feel like, oh, Tani is like your every year MVP,
barring injury.

Speaker 1 (35:15):
No seems like it.

Speaker 2 (35:17):
All right, we got more covin on Rich, We'll go
old school in fifty hits, and we turned the page
to NFL next hour right here on Kevin on Rich.

Speaker 1 (35:31):
Hey play along at home and hit us up.

Speaker 2 (35:34):
On Instagram at kovin on Rich, I tagged Fox Sports Radio,
who is your MVP? I posted videos of us watching
the big Dumper and Aaron Judge taking BP at the
All Star Game this year. Pretty cool moment at Covino
and Rich. Yeah at kovid on Rich right now. And
can I just say one last thing. When I'm saying
Aaron Judge is leading, I don't mean leading and beating

(35:56):
Cal Raleigh in all these categories, in ops, slugging, on
base percentage.

Speaker 10 (36:02):
War.

Speaker 1 (36:05):
Hits, he leads all of baseball base ball.

Speaker 2 (36:10):
Thank you be Know and Rich live from the Fox
Sports Radio studio, and it's time for our tire IRAQ
play of the day, speaking of the guy, your MVP.
All rise for homer fifty swing on hit the center field,
hitting well, it's slicinging, it's carrying, get me up bed
going into a.

Speaker 1 (36:28):
Bull bet three run homer. Aaron Judge number fifty.

Speaker 4 (36:34):
And that's the fourth time he's hit fifty more more
home runs in a season.

Speaker 8 (36:40):
All d.

Speaker 2 (36:42):
You know, and people feel that way about Otani fifty
four props to him.

Speaker 1 (36:47):
Mind me, how many cowrably got last night? Sixty oh,
just checking.

Speaker 2 (36:50):
That's courtesy of Yankees Radio Network and that was our

Speaker 1 (37:05):
TIRA tirack dot com.

Speaker 2 (37:07):
We tire buying should be and would you look at
the time, let's go if.

Speaker 1 (37:12):
There's a certain yea, what we gonna do is go
back back into town.

Speaker 13 (37:20):
Throwing it back for a Thursday. Old School went fifty
hits at fifty after CNR give you the time capsule
topic and we reminisce together.

Speaker 2 (37:30):
Yeah, okay, here's the situation. My parents went away on
the week's face station. In No, here's the situation, guys.
Old School went fifty hits is our way of throwing
it back and reminiscing on a Thursday.

Speaker 1 (37:44):
But getting you involved like we always do.

Speaker 2 (37:47):
The most ecclusive show on radio on National Daughters Day,
by the way, as Girl dads.

Speaker 1 (37:52):
We say shout out to all the dads out there
and all the daughters.

Speaker 2 (37:55):
Corbino and Rich eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox.
I'm quoting Will Smith when I say, Okay, here's the situation.
It's Will Smith's birthday shot. Nah, I don't like the guy,
to be honest, and I'll explain, but he's fifty seven today,
and regardless of how I feel about him and the

(38:17):
slap heerd around the world and Chris Rock and all that.

Speaker 1 (38:20):
He's done something pretty.

Speaker 2 (38:21):
Remarkable that not a lot of people can claim they've done.
I'm singing parents, just and understand. That was my first
introduction to Will Smith. I thought you were gonna say
in West Philadelphia, I'm born and raised because even before
the show, he was making rap songs and winning Grammy
Awards for rap.

Speaker 3 (38:37):
He's the DJ, I'm the rapper.

Speaker 1 (38:38):
Yeah, he was making music. So he made it music.

Speaker 2 (38:42):
He made it on TV and guess what he made
it in the movies. That's a triple threat. He struck
gold three times. He's an elite category, an elite category
of three times. Props to Will Smith, regardless of my
personal feelings. Now, when you think about it, Will Smith,
you knock a dodger, you think of you think of

(39:04):
guys like Jamie Fox that could sing and dance and
act and you know, sing and rap and everything. There's
people that have had success in multiple arenas. So here's
where we go with this on Old School and fifty hits.
Who are those triple threats? Who are those people that,
as we're calling it, struck gold more than two times?

(39:27):
That it's a tough category because there's so many people
that you can be like, oh, they did this, and
that one comes to mind right away, and that's your
absolutely stallone, absolutely.

Speaker 1 (39:41):
Because think about it.

Speaker 2 (39:43):
He has three franchises, more than three franchises, Rocky Movies,
The Expendables, Rams, you know what I mean. Like, that's
incredible in itself. Sylvester Sloan's in that category. So you
found success more than more than once, more than twice.
Who come to mind? It's a great question in sports.
You know, he went from player to broadcaster to blank entrepreneur.

(40:06):
But whatever comes to mind, you got to hit us
up now at eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox,
Let's skip some props and wish Will Smith a happy birthday.

Speaker 1 (40:12):
Here you go, I got lots of answers. Let's hear
yours next.
