Speaker 1 (00:02):

rich podcast.

Speaker 1 (00:07):
From five to seven pm the eastern two to four
pacifics on Fox Sports Radio. Find your local station for
Devino and rich at Fox Sports Radio dot com, or
stream us live every day on the iHeartRadio app by
searching FSR Covino and Richo Up. Danny G. Congrats on
your Dodgers, man, Thank you. You know what's gross about

(00:27):
the Dodgers just their ability to hit the ball and
step up in the moment. It's like they picked up
right where they left off, like their tailor made for October.
Guys like Keith Ahernandez step up like they're superstars. I
don't know what it is, man, It's like they turn
on they look great already, and hey, congrats to the
Reds on a decent run and for making it. But

(00:50):
the Dodgers just outclassed them. Just too big of a team,
and well, rats again to them. I will say this,
starting Saturday, you can't have those bullpen shenetigans against Philadelphia.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
It's not gonna work.

Speaker 3 (01:02):
No, But you saw that they found their closer in Rokie,
who was hurt all season and healthy just in time.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
Seems that way.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
It seems that way. But I'm just saying, like the Dodgers,
the setup guys. Yes, they are struggling. They could score
at will. It seems like that lineup is just insane
and memory with. However, games and the series have been tremendous.
The ratings prove it. Ratings are up. Everything about it
is exciting. You know, these games are nail biers. Can
I tell you something? Watching that game again as a

(01:30):
Yankees fan, yes, or a Yankees Red Sox. It was
a must win for the Yankees. Obviously they won the game,
and I found it like almost impossible to enjoy because
I'm pacing the house.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
I feel alive.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
It's like fun of being a say, you feel alive
in the moment, but are you really having fun.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
Where you're so nervous the whole time.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
It's the great demaate of sports like it. It's the
great debate do you rather your football team win rather
than win thirty one to three? It makes it a
great game, I think for the casual viewer and the
person who's not emotionally invested. But when you're as emotionally
invested as I am or as everybody is when they

(02:10):
really root for a team.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
It's hard to not it's hard to have fun if.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
It's not a blowout, Like I want the Yankees to
blow them out tonight so I can enjoy, relax and
have fun.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
That's no fun. I'll be moonwalking in my socks throughout
the living room. They score more than like four, can
they have a big inning and score like six seven runs?
You know, it's fun, that's fun.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
What's fun right now is Detroit Cleveland two to one,
sixth inning?

Speaker 2 (02:36):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (02:36):
But for you close exactly, when it's so close. Oh,
it's just gut wrenching. It's fun for everyone. And when
you look back, all the best games, all the best
sports memories you have are always a close game. No
one's like, you know what I love? No, I disagree.
I love one twelve two because it takes away stress.
It takes away the stress and it just enhances the joel.

(02:56):
I think after if you win and it was stressful,
you're like, oh, what a game. But if it's like
you lose, you're like, my soul more relief than elation. Yes,
as you see my old school forty nine ers sweatshirt
on tonight. I'm wearing it because they might I might
have to suit up tonight. They might need to have
me play with Pierce all out Rock party.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
It's a position, Rich, What would you play? What would
I play? Slot? Receive punt?

Speaker 4 (03:20):
They need someone to catch the ball punt their so
they're fine there, you need someone to catch the ball.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
When you take that back to my childhood, there's got
to be so many jokes there. I'm just so focused
on the Yankees, I couldn't think of it.

Speaker 4 (03:30):
What rich is a long snapper? With a long snapper question?
Rich is Bobby Bouchet?

Speaker 1 (03:37):
If you're a forty nine Ers fan, it's a great
example because they won back to back Super Bowls eighty nine,
ninety eighty eight, eighty nine, depending if you call out
the Super Bowl season or the season year. The first
time was the drive with Montana against the Bengals, John

(03:57):
Taylor back of the end zone. The Niners win on
that final drive. Remember, oh, there's John Candy in the stands.
The next year they beat the Broncos fifty five to ten. Yeah,
I think you're misunderstanding what I'm saying. I'm bading fun.
I'm not saying it's a better game, but it's more
enjoyable because there's less stress involved.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
I remember being I'm having fun when I'm pacing around
the living room, all the fun, and then the dog's
looking at you, like what's going on? He's taking me
off for a walk.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
I remember as a little boy, I'll admit this, I
was like almost crying in my room, thinking the Niners
are gonna love to the Bengals and then Montana doesn't drive.
I remember jumping around, like, go on my bed, like
I was in a hotel room, just jumping on the bed.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
Also on NFL Sundays, I know you're rich, you do
the same thing. Your places never look cleaning cleaner because
I stress clean during games. I'm like, oh that's dusty,
and I'm dusting and it's it's crazy.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
I alone in that My living room.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
And kitchen look immaculate. My the wood glimmer and shine
on my kitchen table from how many times I broke
out the pledge.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
Come on, rock Berdie.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
It's really a question are these nail biers actually entertaining
if you're emotionally invested, If you're just a casual fan, yeah,
they're great games, but so when you're on the losing end,
it ends up sucking. But I talked about it this
season with my met Fran friends. I was like, yeah, man, like,
what do you rather? You'd rather win the division by
fifteen games? When they're like, yes, yes, I agree. I

(05:22):
love the fighting nature of it, but if you come
out on the winning side of it, you know, I
don't know if that's fun when you're pacing around like
a lunatic. But hey, we'll keep you posted right now

to get to. I hope all your teams are winning.

(06:49):
I hope you're enjoying the postseason ghost season. And speaking
of baseball, Rich, I gotta just ask you one more
time about the close gamer blow. I'm not gonna agree
with you. You're different people. You're out, high energy, high
strung guy.

Speaker 2 (07:02):
I like to chill. I was born with chill, you
were born with none.

Speaker 1 (07:05):
I want to relax and watch my team blow him
out and beat him and not be stressed. I understand
it's a better game when it's close, but for me personally,
I like to know that we have it in the back. Yeah,
but that's like, that's stressful, man. That's I didn't yesterday
and I was stressed out the whole time. I didn't
have fun watching that. But you know, when you got

(07:25):
hair hair, I lost calories. I ripped a whole in
my sock from just walking around so much. Who's your reliever?
That looked like he was the most excited men in
the world. Who is that oose man cruise? When he
comes off the mouth and he's like, ah, like banging
his chest.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
How are you not fired up yourself with me? But
only out of relief, not out of not out of joy.

Speaker 1 (07:46):
So my point is, I like, you could say, like
it's torturous, but I like watching my team almost play
from behind the times and catch up.

Speaker 2 (07:57):
Or I like you probably like being tortured by women.
It's a weird preference.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
I like, like I like the game being you also
like being stomped on with women in high heels.

Speaker 2 (08:07):
My thing not into that at all, by the.

Speaker 1 (08:08):
Way, But if the game, if the game is two
to two, and you're like, all right, we got this
part of the lineup coming up to me. That's like
a good, fun, healthy stress. I hate games when your
team is winning. Let's say your team was winning twelve two.
There's times where you're almost rooting for your team to
get out so you can get the game moving along,

(08:29):
like all right, let's let's move this along, like all right,
sixth inning, come on you you're more worried about, like
all right, let's just get.

Speaker 3 (08:35):
There, unless you have a bad bullpen and then you're
like four more, four more runs.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
But like Danny, there was a point last night where
Dodgers fans had to be like, all right, let's let's
move this along, all right, pie Hayes or whoever's up
at the end of the line of just ground out
pie head.

Speaker 2 (08:51):
No it's Pothead, not pothead. All right, come on, let's go.
I hear what you're saying. Part of you just wants
to get it over, like you ever go.

Speaker 1 (08:58):
You ever go to a game and it's at and
even in your favor, and you're sort of like, all right,
line up, like come on, let's we don't need let's
gotta be traffic.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
Come on.

Speaker 1 (09:07):
I'm just saying I love a close game, and I
was locked in to that Red Sox Yankees game.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
You also love a parade.

Speaker 1 (09:15):
People are different, But you know what I didn't like,
did the Dodgers Reds game. Dodgers outmatch that bunk team.
So you know once when they got that two run
lead in the first inning off of the ti Oscar
a little mishandle on right field, I was happy about that, Danny,
because I'm like, all right, at least now, like there's
a little excitement because I knew the Dodgers would somehow
put up at least five to ten.

Speaker 2 (09:35):
I don't I don't know why you would want to
watch a blowout if it's.

Speaker 1 (09:37):
A Sunday football, I'll turn a game off if like,
all right, the second because there's less stress involved, different
strokes for different folks.

Speaker 2 (09:45):
I get it.

Speaker 1 (09:46):
Like I said, I understand we're not gonna agree, but
you're not gonna convince me otherwise. I feel alive in
those moments, but I'm stressed out. I'd like to sit back.
And you know what I felt like, remember that old
Adam Sandler bit on a throw back Thursday of the
nervous kid playing baseball.

Speaker 2 (09:59):
Like, oh no, please, don't hate it. To me, oh no,
oh no, are the excited Southerner every time? Every time
the Yankees were on defense, you know, when a new
pitcher took the mound, I'm dying inside.

Speaker 1 (10:13):
I'm like, oh no, oh no, oh no. In the
Red Sox aregon score, oh no. And then when they're
at bad I'm like, oh yes, please score, run, oh yes.
That's the only really fight out is when they're playing offense.
Everything you're saying otherwise, I'm dying outside the whole time.
Everything you're saying makes sense. You just want your team
to win, and I.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
Get it and convincingly and easily, easily, and my dumb
theory only makes sense if your team wins.

Speaker 1 (10:35):
I'm just saying, all your best memories in sports never
have to do it blowouts.

Speaker 2 (10:39):
I guarantee.

Speaker 1 (10:40):
Dan Buyer, who's a big Seahawks fan, one of his
favorite memories is definitely when Richard Sherman and Michael Crabtree
and you guys, you know the Niners are about to
go for the win, and you guys want That's a
game where you were probably pacing around your living room
or you might have even admitted that game like those
are the moments you live for as a sports fan.

Speaker 2 (10:58):
Though, yeah, absolutely.

Speaker 5 (10:59):
And then the next year when they were down by
the Packers and had that crazy comeback and then ended
up winning an overtime, that was another one. Compared to
when they blew out the Broncos in the Super Bowl
and it was over at halftime, there were absolutely different.

Speaker 1 (11:12):
Not to say you don't appreciate it, but when they
blew out the Broncos in the Super Bowl towards a
third quarter, weren't you sort of like, let's just move
the clock along and hoist the trophy.

Speaker 5 (11:21):
Soon as Percy Harvard around the kickback, You're like, all right,
this is.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
Okay, let's get this in retrospect, right, And again it
was your introspect if your team is not in it.
By the way, the Tigers does not apply to you.
Tiger's up six to one.

Speaker 2 (11:33):
You stealing my job, Rich, That's all right.

Speaker 1 (11:36):
Tiger's up six to one. And this got a little
out of hand quick. So Cleveland has nine outs left
at home to try to make this a game. But see,
if you're a Detroit fan, yeah, of course you want
to pile on. You're like, oh, come on, make an
eight one. That's not as exciting I'm not locked into
this game in my peripherals as much.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
Disagree.

Speaker 1 (11:54):
Yeah, because again, you're a casual fan. You're not a
fan of either one of those teams, so you want
to see you close game.

Speaker 2 (12:01):
If you root for that team, you want them to
win and not stress you.

Speaker 1 (12:05):
I could sum it up the difference between you and I,
you know, but the answers in the body language. If
you're pacing around like a maniac, your body language would
imply you're not really having fun. You're kind of stressed.
But it's good stress. It's fun stress. I get that.
Do you remember what it's It's not a joyous moment
until the game's over, and then I sit there and

(12:25):
I think, man, that was I don't know, man, because
if they would have lost last night, you feel like
quitting the sport, like.

Speaker 2 (12:32):
I'm not watching ever again.

Speaker 1 (12:33):
Do you remember that forty nine Ers game in the
playoffs where they were completely outplayed in the snow in
Green Bay, but they somehow blocked the punt in the
fourth quarter scored a touchdown on the Niners one. If
you remember, Danny, I jumped in my pool that that
was like they started the tradition. That was the most again, Kavino,
I get what he's saying, like unenjoyable. Yet at the
end you're like, oh my god, you don't want to

(12:54):
be stressed out the whole time. But the difference between
Covino and I, which is probably the difference between so
many listeners and people checking us out right now, you
love to be tortured. I love a little torture. Well,
that's weird. I met in that I don't need clamps
on my nippies. I'm not saying I gotta clamp the nips,
But what I'm saying is if the Mets or one
of my teams is winning eleven to two, I'm actually

(13:17):
sometimes not watching anymore. I'm like, all right, Austin, I
love that Cavino will.

Speaker 2 (13:22):
Pile it on.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
Cavino will be a dinner get this. This is my
This is the way the best sum it up. If
we're dinner, Danny g having some wings, guys night out.
You know, we always joke that Cavino has his phone
out for every Yankees game there is.

Speaker 2 (13:34):
Yeah, can't miss a minute. I respect that.

Speaker 1 (13:36):
But now, if to me, if the Yankees are winning
eight to one, I'm like, all right, they got this one.
I'm turning it off. Covina loves to watch the pylon
because they're.

Speaker 2 (13:44):
My only joy. That's my only joy.

Speaker 1 (13:47):
If the Mets are up, if the Mets are up big,
I turn it off. I'm like, hey, they got this one.
That's weak brow.

Speaker 2 (13:53):
You admit.

Speaker 3 (13:54):
Sports is kind of like our version of a soap opera.
We don't want to miss anything. Yeah, I want to
feel like you left out. Yeah, you don't want to
be left out of anything that happens with your.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
I want them to build their confidence. Yeah, keep building
that confidence. Everyone, get involved in the party. Yeah, keep
getting RBIs, keep getting hits. Pile it on and then
take away the stress. Enjoy the victory. I have the
flip question, and it'll move on. So again, this all
stems from some of these games. Most of these games
have been nail biers, except for your Dodgers, Danny G

(14:23):
Are you really enjoying them when your heart's on the
line the entire time? Well, they're tough to enjoy because
last night was very stressful. If they didn't win, that
was the last baseball game I watched for the season.
It's hard to relax in that moment. What's worse buddy.

Speaker 2 (14:41):
Yeah, and I'm up putting this out there in the universe,
but I sort of am.

Speaker 1 (14:46):
What would you be more upset by Red Sox win
nine to one tonight or they win to one in
the Knife?

Speaker 2 (14:57):
The blowout would probably upset me more because you know,
I would at least have the hope, the peace of mind,
and the solace of knowing that they were in the
game and they battled. Yeah, you want to scratch until
the very end. Yeah, Like I don't blowout like that's hey,
you go out.

Speaker 1 (15:12):
I mean that's weak, but that's that's But the close
one you leave yourself in more.

Speaker 2 (15:16):
What if stough?

Speaker 1 (15:18):
I don't know, man, me and you view these things differently,
I guess, And that's why it's a fun question for you.
Fox Sports Radio Nation eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox.
But the question only applies if your team's in it
and your heart's on the line, because again, if if
it's not, then all you want you want to see
a close game.

Speaker 2 (15:34):
I could.

Speaker 1 (15:34):
I understand that. It's like it's like every game in
the Super If your team's not in the Super Bowl,
you want to see a good competitive game.

Speaker 2 (15:41):
You don't want to see a blowout. So let me
ask you.

Speaker 1 (15:43):
This, with the four wild card games, all yours already
wrapped up, d NYG, Dodgers, Phillies, what matchup do you
like better for the DS? Do you want it to
be a divisional Cubbies Brewers or do you want to
see the Padres Brewers?

Speaker 2 (15:58):
What do you think is more fun? Oh you're asking
you can Dan anyone Padres Brewers or Cubby's Brewers.

Speaker 1 (16:05):
Oh that's a good one, because that that game just started,
that's in the first Sorry, Dan Bayer, just lett you.
I'd like to see Padres zero zero. I personally would
like to see them. There's a lot of star power
in San Diego. I want to see how these young
brewers size up and as much as uh in this moment,
as much as it might be fun to see you
uh cry about the Yankees, I think Yankees blue Jays

(16:28):
being that they did tie. Oh yeah, they both had
the same exact record. I think Yankees blue Jays would
be a great divisional matchup. What do you think about this?
It looks like it's Detroit Seattle and that's going to be.

Speaker 2 (16:39):
A battle too. I think this is We're we got
some great playoffs Man, I think what.

Speaker 1 (16:43):
We'll agree on here, Rich in this weird debate we're having,
and it's like, you know, how do you enjoy the game?
How do you feel about these close matchups? Is you
do get that sense of feeling like alive, Like you're
so in the moment, you're so invested, you're so animated,
you're so into it, and that is the fun of sports.

Speaker 2 (17:04):
I get it.

Speaker 1 (17:06):
But man, it's it's uberly stressful. And I definitely lost
a lot of hair watching I could tell your hairlines.
So I got that on top man. Mike and Cincinnati
hit us up and he said, guys, there's a rub here.

Speaker 2 (17:17):
He goes, wait until your kids get a little older.

Speaker 1 (17:20):
Rich, when it comes to watching pros versus your kids,
when your kids are an important game.

Speaker 2 (17:24):
You want the blowout, you know, because he's like, you'll lose.

Speaker 1 (17:27):
You'll lose, as he said, years off your life watching
your kids in a really close.

Speaker 5 (17:31):
Compete in anything. Yeah, I agree. And then there's been
a lot of conversation. We were even talking yesterday about not
feeling fulfilled by a Red Sox Yankees three game series.
You know, like you just you want like a seven
sort of game series. However, in terms of like how
it like builds up and how it feeds out, I'm
not too mad at the three game series because there's

(17:54):
no guarantee we would get a seven game series or
even a five game series from them. But I'm just
curious from your guys perspectives, especially Cavino, like are you
are you mad that you had to face the Red
Sox or you just would you rather have faced them
in a seven game series? Since you like the blowout
not the close game, How do you feel about facing
your rival in a short sort of format as opposed

(18:16):
to a longer one.

Speaker 2 (18:17):
All right, look at it this way. It used to
be a one game playoff, so look at that. Looking
back at that, I get it. But looking back and
for years we had a one game two wildcard teams
played one.

Speaker 1 (18:29):
Wish it was a five game series, though I do.
I do wish it was a little longer, But I
know it's better than it used to be, so I
can't complain. The only reason it can't be a five
game is because then you have these teams with Bye,
they can't sit around for a week, and then you're
going to get to November.

Speaker 2 (18:42):
So yeah, it makes sense. I do like how they
took the travel out of it.

Speaker 5 (18:45):
Also, yeah, I think it's a significant advantage for the
home team to be able to get all three games
at I mean, the higher seeded team in those series.
But some fans were feeling not fulfilled because they only
get three games. Got too if your Yankees didn't win
last night that series.

Speaker 1 (19:03):
They panted a big picture last night about how you
know me. I'm not a Yankees fan at all. The
Bronx looked popping last night. That stadium looked like I
haven't seen that excitement a Yankee stadium in quite a while.

Speaker 2 (19:15):
It seemed like they were panting around the crowd. They
panted a.

Speaker 1 (19:17):
Little too much of this one dude in the mustache
like some random guy and kept pointing like.

Speaker 2 (19:22):
I didn't noticed because I was. I was walking around
like a maniac. But this says like, can you sit down?
I'm like, no, I can't.

Speaker 1 (19:29):
The same way, the Dodgers broadcast was obsessed with Jason Bateman.

Speaker 2 (19:33):
Oh that in the Service Dog?

Speaker 1 (19:35):
Like Queen enough of Bateman in the Service Dog. The
guy with the mustache was Austin Wells and he had
the game winning hit last Not that guy. Yeah, so well, listen,
enjoy your MLB playoffs. We'll talk, of course, a little
bit more about MLB throughout the day, but lots of NFL.

Speaker 2 (19:49):
We got Thursday Night football kicking off Week five.

Speaker 1 (19:51):
My Niners are depleted, but I have a thought about
the Niners rams time.

Speaker 2 (19:56):
We'll get to that. Plus we'll go old two and
fifty hits. A lot more are coming up.

Speaker 1 (20:03):
I just saw one of those baseball stats where you're like,
no way.

Speaker 2 (20:08):
Give it to me, Dwayne's stats.

Speaker 1 (20:11):
Because there's always a stat that amazes you. In the
career battle between the Detroit Tigers and the Cleveland Indian
Slash Guardians. Today is the rubber match because until today
those two franchises are one thousand, one hundred and sixty
seven and one thousand, one hundred and sixty seven against

(20:33):
each other.

Speaker 2 (20:35):
Insane.

Speaker 1 (20:36):
So today it looks like Detroit wins the rubber match
after you know, close to twenty five hundred games.

Speaker 2 (20:42):
So wild, that is wild.

Speaker 1 (20:44):
Cavino and Enrich live from the Fox Sports Radio studios.
Remember old school in fifty hits. In about twenty minutes,
we throw it back in reminisce. We're gonna talk old
school cartoons, we'll explain later on. Plus, our bonus podcast
debuts today episode one to eleven, and I'll tell you
more about it later on. So in the meantime, catch
us on our YouTube page, Covino and Rich FSR Iowa

(21:05):
Sam playing some sli in the family stone, that is
slying the family stone, right, Sam?

Speaker 2 (21:10):
Absolutely sorry?

Speaker 4 (21:11):
And by the way, remember, like a long time ago,
I was like, dude, Yankees fans ever say yank D's
and you're wearing the shirt yank ds?

Speaker 1 (21:19):
You know who made that shirt? Who store at Cavino
on Rich dot com.

Speaker 2 (21:23):
All right, we made it? Still see in our shirt?
It was great about Pat I thought that was from
Gronk's website. No, no, he would make a shirt like that. Yeah,
yanked Man. It's great because if you love the Yankees,
it works. And if you hate the Yankees, oh it's awesome.
So available at Cavino and Rich dot com. Yankees, let's go.

Speaker 1 (21:43):
And if you just joined us, you know, Rich and
I approving without even trying how different we are. The
guy was born with no chill, so he loves a
nail biter. If your team's in a nail bier, it's
almost hard to say you enjoyed the game because the
Yankees won you yesterday. But afterward, I'm thinking to myself,
did I really enjoy that? I felt relief afterward, But

(22:07):
I'm like, I don't even know if that was fun.
That was so stressful. So that's basically what we're wrapping
up now. It's easy, you know what you're right, though,
we are cut from a different cloth because.

Speaker 2 (22:19):
He mind's leather, yours is like, I don't know what
yours is? Pur lap, Yeah, pur lap or something, some
sort of burlap sack.

Speaker 1 (22:25):
I don't care what money is, but yours is definitely leather,
because you think you're like the Mexican fonds.

Speaker 2 (22:31):
Where's leather chaps.

Speaker 1 (22:33):
It is interesting, though, because in all aspects of life,
I do like that thrill of panic, a panic and uncertainty.

Speaker 2 (22:43):
It's terrible.

Speaker 1 (22:44):
I feel like, for example, the Tigers are up six
to one, right, rich says, you see this game right here,
Tiger's Cleveland. I'm bored by it already because of six
to one. I'm like, I get it because you don't
care about either team. But Detroit Tigers fans feel great
about that. That's my point. You know, would give him
more a rush. They would have more of a rush
if it was two l not joy that's panic, And

(23:06):
I think you have like a misunderstanding of what joyous
feel feels like.

Speaker 2 (23:10):
I'm a rollercoaster guy. You're a teacup guy.

Speaker 1 (23:12):
I guess maybe, maybe, maybe maybe I'm a maybe I'm
a Peter Pans flight kind of guy.

Speaker 2 (23:19):
Have you ever you never went on Peter Pan's flight?
Have you ever had a how do I say this politely?
On Fox Sports? Have you ever made love in a
place where you could get caught? Or you're like, no
wady risk, adrenaline rush.

Speaker 1 (23:34):
I must love that, And you would think I'm a
skydiver or something.

Speaker 2 (23:38):
I'm not.

Speaker 1 (23:38):
I just feel like you you like very little risk
and you like very little excitement. Like you seem like
a sort of a dud of a guy to me, say,
he seems like a dut You.

Speaker 2 (23:47):
Like to be titillated, rich, that's what you like.

Speaker 1 (23:49):
Yeah, he likes a nail biters. He thinks that's fun.
You know, you realize that it's called a nail bier
because you're nervous and you're panicky the whole time. Biting
your nails doesn't equal fun. I think you were dropped
on your head or something, your misunderstanding. Put that helmet on,
that's Straus helmet, because that's not fun until it's over.

Speaker 2 (24:09):
And I won.

Speaker 4 (24:09):
I think you remember it fondly because of how stressful
it was. Like I think I think of certain football
wins for Iowa where they've escaped and you're like, that
was amazing, but only after the fact.

Speaker 1 (24:18):
Here's the deciding factor. What do you guys think? Hit
us up at Covino Enrich at Fox Sports Radio. We'll
wrap it up with one more phone call. All right,
I have James in Orlando.

Speaker 6 (24:32):
What's up? What's up? Gentlemen? Bet Show Radio right here?
Thank you man, you guys, Yeah, first time in Yeah.
I mean I'm with Cabino on this one. I'm a
Miami Hurricane and let me tell you something. I'm all week.

Speaker 7 (24:44):
I've been stressing about this game coming up on Saturday,
and I'm going to be wearing out.

Speaker 6 (24:49):
The carpet if it's a close game. No for I'm
going to be pacing.

Speaker 7 (24:53):
And I want to blow out. I don't blowout so
I can't watch them kick ass.

Speaker 1 (24:58):
Yes, James, you know what you said. You wore out
your carpet. I don't have carpets, but you know what
I have now. I started off the night with a
brand new pair of gold toe socks. They were mint.

Speaker 2 (25:09):
By the end of the night they were they were
screen door socks.

Speaker 1 (25:13):
On the bottom. You know what I mean by screen
door socks. They already wore through A pair just sucks
like the dirty screens in my cousin video that the
old lady couldn't see through. My girlfriend, you know, I
have a theory on this too, because girls don't burn
through socks the way guys do.

Speaker 2 (25:31):
They don't it's heavier.

Speaker 1 (25:33):
Look at your wife and girlfriend socks, both of them,
if you have both, look at both of their socks.

Speaker 2 (25:38):
They don't have this. Look at hers.

Speaker 1 (25:41):
They don't have the screen door troubles that we have.
And my theory is this, they don't panic about sports
the way we do, and they don't create as much
friction as we do as big fat slobs. They don't
have that weight friction pacing around watching a really tight
fight or a tight game.

Speaker 2 (25:57):
The way we do.

Speaker 1 (25:58):
Because my girlfriend hits me up, she'say, aren't you embarrassed
wearing those things? I'm like, these are game day socks.
Have you ever watched a fight with Cavino. He's shadow
boxing like she's Tank Davis or something.

Speaker 2 (26:08):
It's nerve.

Speaker 3 (26:11):
Nowadays, there are so many females who are huge sports
fans just like us. And I will say about my
better half, Baseball Dodgers is what stresses her out the most.

Speaker 2 (26:20):
But you're right, she stresses in a whole different way.

Speaker 3 (26:23):
I'm pacing and she rocks in her chair, like the
way you see Rich with his nervous energy. That's what
she'll do. When you know Vessia comes in, she's rocking
like this.

Speaker 1 (26:32):
Can I tell my pet peeve about my wife because
I have very few, because.

Speaker 2 (26:34):
She's a good woman.

Speaker 1 (26:36):
My wife has this stupid approach to a po boy.
Somebody sends her this SoundBite. My wife has the stupidest.
My kids think stupid's a curse word. It's so funny, dude,
that's a stupid She doesn't she doesn't want to watch
big plays when her team is playing like she like
covers her and.

Speaker 2 (26:55):
Dips in the kitchen like looking in the fridge.

Speaker 7 (26:58):
Wife.

Speaker 1 (26:59):
My wife's a Packers. When they were playing Sunday Night
against the Cowboys during a big play, I'm like, babe,
it's third and one and she's in the kitchen and
she's like.

Speaker 2 (27:07):
I can't watch. You can't watch. It's nervous.

Speaker 1 (27:10):
Oh, you're gonna dip away for all the big plays
when you a psycha and you know what, we're gonna
move on slightly. But I had that same exact thought
yesterday because I couldn't watch. And I'm like, that's why
they're in the big leagues though, because they're able to
slow it down and compose themselves and they're more in control.
When you're a fan, you're not in control. If you've
played sports, you know you're in it. You're not nervous.
But I was watching Anthony Volpi in a pressure moment yesterday.

(27:31):
I'm thinking, my goodness, he's there in front of fifty
five thousand screaming fans, a bunch of New York batcha
GA loops, millions watching all over the place, and he's
you know, he's in the moment. Meanwhile I can't even watch.
So nerves are high, and that's what makes it exciting.
But I'm not sure if I had fun watching last night.

(27:52):
And that's the question. Well, so we have to talk
some NFL. No, that's so much going on it's even
a fight rumor today. So what I'm gonna save that
fight rumor for over primeed so fights, football, baseball stress.
Right now, we're lying from the Fox Sports Radio studio

(28:14):
and it's time for our tire rack play of the day,
speaking of the Yankees, the Shaky's last night, The Yankees
stayed Alive, Staying.

Speaker 2 (28:24):
Alive, three two pitch Jazz runs, pitch swing on light drive.
Right there stare ball pick up chests coming, rap thirst go.
Hat's waiting to the jess coming down the line. Here's
the throne of the plate. The slides he is, he's there,
he he's in there. The Yankees hot the lad that's
Part three New York and it's in there like swimwear.

(28:44):
I don't even know what that means, Oh jazz, Why
did they say in there like swimwear. It doesn't even run.
I don't even know why.

Speaker 1 (28:50):
But man, what a slide, What a moment. Jazz Chisholm superstar.
I love that dude, and Wells came through big. That's
courtesy of Yankees Radio Network. That was our tire rack
player of the day. And as we're talking about baseball
and all the stress of the postseason man and I
was gonna say Manny Ramirez, not Manny Ramirez gets thrown
out at second after a two RBI double. So it's six'

(29:14):
three going to the ninth And cleveland's got three more
outs to try to stay alive in the twenty twenty five.
Seasons so we shall see it got a little, closer
got a little. Closer SO nfl, tonight before we get
into win fifty, hits when your team is decimated with

(29:35):
injuries like my forty nine ers, are And i'm not
bitching and, Complaining i'm just being real because you, know
look at any injury. Report, kittle you, know out for
a little. While still we don't know When ayuk's coming,
Back bosa for the. Year it's bitchin And moan And,
Purdy Jwan, Jennings ricky pearsall the list goes on and.
On when your team is down and out like, that

(29:58):
what type of mentality do you go into the game?
With Meaning like it was Rams by like a field
goal because they were. Home then it went to Rams by, five, six,
Seven now.

Speaker 2 (30:07):
It's eight and a. Half vegas is Saying rams minus
eight and a.

Speaker 1 (30:10):
Half do you go in ever to root on your, team, like, well,
well they'll probably lose, Tonight. DANNY i hate to be a,
jerk but you're A raiders. Fan do you go into
a lot of weeks, thinking, well we're probably gonna, lose
but come, on, genty show me something like me or
SHOULD i hold?

Speaker 7 (30:25):
Out?

Speaker 2 (30:26):
Hope it's a divisional? Battle you have to.

Speaker 3 (30:28):
You, oh you go into the, Week, yeah you're nervous about,
it but you think about all the bright spots on your,
team even if there are positions where you're.

Speaker 2 (30:35):
Struggling, Historically danny historically Watched rich to watch the, unthinkable the,
unspeakable the. Unbelievable, yeah that's, why because it could.

Speaker 3 (30:44):
Happen, yeah and Sometimes, rich the games you're supposed to,
win you, lose and vice.

Speaker 2 (30:47):
Versa.

Speaker 1 (30:48):
True SO i, mean, LIKE i look at it this,
Way like a week, ago up until the fourth, quarter
The saints played The bills.

Speaker 2 (30:54):
TOUGH i get, it anyone could play with.

Speaker 1 (30:56):
Anyone but, historically other than you, know, unfortunately maybe one
or two postseason games that, Mattered Kyle shanahan's schemes have
sort of Owned sean. McVay The niners have played historically
well Under Kyle, shanahan against The.

Speaker 2 (31:10):
Rams so there is a part of me that's, like you,
know with Mac jones, THOUGH i mean Mac jones is
did you see the outfit he rolled up with? TODAY
i thought he was the king of. Hearts you, suit
half red, suit hyo.

Speaker 1 (31:23):
Style when you roll up with that sort of, swag
you're trying to create some magic. Tonight and that's what
EVERY i, think that's the. Mindset it's, like, yeah you're
you're hurt and your whole team's not. There you're hoping
to see some. Magic Mac jones has played admirably this.
Year in, fact he's The niners quarterback that's undefeated so,
far right when you think about, it and he works

(31:44):
well With kyle and you know you're gonna get a
hell of a lot Of christian McCaffrey. Tonight, Right so
we shall see forty Nine ers. Defense you, Know Robert sallas,
said you, know anyone that messes with, him he'll, Ruin
he'll end their.

Speaker 2 (31:58):
World, yeah he, said all after your world, Up so we'll.
SEE i think it's gonna be a Fun thursday night.

Speaker 1 (32:03):

on this, day and they call you on this, day
boy as a as a pop radio, host he loves

Brown poor guy got the football pulled away every. Time
and by the, Way sam dances like one of The peanuts,
crew like, naturally those are his natural dance.

Speaker 2 (37:20):
Moves his legs move that. Way, yeah look at him
if you're watching on the YouTube feed there he. Is all.

God so Then Blake Snell danny g will be lined.
Up you guys don't play game two Until. Monday It's,
saturday Then, monday this is Not saturday And. Sunday So
Blake snell is gonna have like five six days, rest
which is Great.

Speaker 2 (37:54):
Yankees Blake snell looks like he never has any rest.
Though that's. Ironic don't you think.

Speaker 1 (38:00):
Fired as hell all the? Time, like, Yo, blake take
him that, bro unpack the. Luggage, man you got lots of.

Three if you move.

Speaker 1 (38:52):
ON i Think Louis, heel The king of The, heel
is your reigning rookie of The year last, year so
he's no. Scrub, okay OKAY. Tlc, yeah so you'll probably
get that then freed. THEN i just love How danny
the pitching matchups when you get to the next, series
they're always a little lopsided because of the previous. Series
it's not like every series lines up, like all, right

(39:13):
let's bring the aces out. Again sometimes you're ace bye
pitch game, three and then it's just a it's wonky
in a really fun.

Speaker 2 (39:19):
Way all.

Speaker 1 (39:19):
Right back to the anniversary Of, Peanuts Charlie. Brown you know,
what poor guy never got to kick the. Football As
Kevin hart, SAYS i never got a snoopy snow cone.
Machine you're gonna learn something. Today AND i know it's
not a crazy baseball stat but it is kind of
cool when you think About peanuts debuted on this day

(39:40):

Speaker 2 (39:41):
Fifty that was before our parents were. Born my dad
was born the following.

Speaker 1 (39:45):

Speaker 4 (40:52):
CHILDHOOD i used to watch it till in my teenage. Years. Vibe,
yeah there's something so.

Speaker 1 (40:56):
Special he sleeps in the pumpkin, patch and he wakes
up and he's like The Great.

Speaker 2 (41:02):
Pumpkin there's it's the.

Speaker 4 (41:04):
Worst what about the scene where they're walking across that
field at? Night that makes you feel so lonely but
in a good. Way that's What Charles schultz was all.
About it wasn't about all positive. Feelings he was about
a mix of life's. Feelings is life at?

Speaker 1 (41:17):
Night or maybe it shows you not with your, Kids,
rich the world today where you need over, stimulation peaceful.

Speaker 4 (41:24):
And the soundtrack to it was like it was sort
of like made you feel alone and sad and you're,
like where is the?

Speaker 2 (41:28):
Greed that's WHAT i want to? Feel but it Was
that's What Charles schultz's magic. Was let me tell you.
Something it's. Trash don't watch it with your. Kids this
stuff that other people taste trash THAT i think is.
Better you know it's. Better she would Be, halloween you
know it's. Better oh, no what is? That rich is

coal in my sack and for you, know a trigger.

Speaker 1 (41:47):

surprise that you can't sit and enjoy. This, no it's
it was really it's. Unenjoyable i'm not even joking at this.

that you and THEN i would. Try THEN i would
try to find women tied to railroad. Tracks never found, One, hey,
Chum but the old School popeyes are still.

Speaker 4 (48:47):

physical sets and then do the animation on top of,
it and it had this very much like appealing visual.

Speaker 1 (48:55):
Aesthetic Watch simbad The, Sailor Watch Abu, Hassen Ali baba

always like Watching, Bugs bunny And. Roadrunner but then a
show THAT i loved with The Laugh. Olympics AND i
may not stand a test of, time but The Laugh
olympics was always good On saturday.

Speaker 1 (50:40):
Mornings you, know Just saturday morning cartoons alone is something
that kids today will never truly get to enjoy the
way we. Did we would fly down the, Steps we'd
have the smell Of mom's pancakes in the, air have
a bowl of Apple jacks or, whatever and Watch Looney
tunes And Muppet babies and And American. Gladiators i've question
and part of my purvy thought AS i get older looking,

(51:05):
back Was smurf fat like getting with?

Speaker 2 (51:08):
Everyone? No or was she your? Fat? Was if you
really look up the, character she was like a.

Speaker 1 (51:14):
Decoy she was trying To she works For Garga mele
sent there or something like that to lure The that
wasn't like the storyline of the cartoon, Though but that
was the.

Speaker 2 (51:22):
Original, YEAH i think that was the original. Thought she
was there to like tempt other.

Speaker 1 (51:29):
SMURFS i always thought, that, uh the only person that
looked at themselves in the mirror more Than Steve cavino
Was Vanity.

Speaker 2 (51:34):
Smurf is that? TRUE i think?

Speaker 7 (51:36):
So.

wife was pregnant and had a guy at work do
a plywood cutout of my favorite, Character.

Speaker 2 (51:53):
Foghorn, Leghorn, WELL i, said it said us.

Speaker 7 (51:58):
Instead of a, Story, well you put that out, there
and then the speech BUBBLE i put say a, say,
boy there's a little chick about.

Speaker 2 (52:05):
Him that Is that's.

Speaker 1 (52:07):
GREAT i mean that was just so much a part
of our childhood because they would have the little, shorts
because they were all shorts that sort of were part
of the same, episodes right like Fog Horn leghorns a
couple of, minutes who is.

Speaker 2 (52:18):
The little like little was? It Chicken? Hawk what was?

Speaker 7 (52:21):
It?

Speaker 4 (52:21):
Yeah with the glasses and he was like all brave and,
Stuff tom And jerry Fan, YEAH i Watched tom And
jerry was le remember when we were.

Speaker 2 (52:30):
Shit that was legendary.

Speaker 3 (52:32):
Too when we were little, kids they had a lot
of those cartoons on before the, movie, remember Like Woody
woodpecker And droopy.

Speaker 2 (52:38):
Cartoons CAN i.

Speaker 1 (52:38):
CAN i hat you up with something that's a little, Later,
Danny this is more, like, uh you And comino might
be a little too old for. This sam is younger than,
me so after SCHOOL i would watch my, siblings who
are a couple of years younger than. Me that whole
world Of, Tailspin Dark Wing. Duck those shows were, Great
Chippendale Rescue. Rangers that WAS i was a little old

(52:59):
BECAUSE i remember being maybe like hand eleven, twelve tell
me those are, great but you just passed Over Woody,
Woodpecker tom And jerry And Droopy. Dog, yeah and you
can Throw Chili willy. In, yeah but you're gonna see
like you're from another. Planet so you Think ductails is
not better Than Droopy Dog ducktails has a great theme.
Song you don't Think ductails is, better but you totally,

(53:21):
Dismissed danny G he's like those are.

Speaker 2 (53:23):
Legendary then you're you think you Think woody Wood pecker
is more.

Speaker 1 (53:26):
Entertaining, legendary but you think he's more entertaining if you
would have sit down right now as a grown man
at forty something years, old AND i, said objectively Watch
woody Wood pecker and then objectively Watched. Ductails here's the.
Difference one's a. Classic one is nottails is classic to?

Speaker 7 (53:40):
You no to?

Speaker 2 (53:41):
Everyone, Okay droopy holds? Up remember the famous EPISODE i
don't think anything groupie. BOOBS i don't want, TO i
don't want.

Speaker 3 (53:50):
ME i don't like he's like the sheriff And BUTCH
i think is the name of that nemesis and he
keeps like smashing his finger and he has to run
outside to. Scream there are some legendary cartoons from. That
i'm not a fan Of, droop but, hey good, One
daddy good. One rich is just he's just hard to.
Know BUT i think you, guys are you know what?

(54:10):
IS i think you, Guys And i'm surprised Because danny's
got a little.

Speaker 1 (54:13):
One he's got CO i think when you go back
and watch a lot of these as an, Adult LIKE i,
said sitcoms is one, category but even, cartoons you're a
lot of times sadly, disappointed, like oh this doesn't hold,
up and the ones that do are, fascinating like slow old.

Speaker 3 (54:28):
MOVIES i get your, Point but for cartoons back in the,
day they were more. Violent there was more physical comedy.
Involved things they can't but they think they can't get
away with.

Speaker 1 (54:37):
Nowadays my kids think Bugs bunny is, hilarious but something
THAT i did find. Funny my kids Love The wizard Of,
oz but they were, like why is there a song
with a million names for five minutes before the movie?

Speaker 2 (54:48):
Starts things are. Slower they don't want credits, right it's.
Over what are we? Doing i'm telling you right, Now,
well why are we talking about?

Speaker 1 (54:59):
This Because Charlie brown could have been in THE nfl
as a placekicker if Stupid lucy would have just gave
him a shot one. Time it debuted on this day
in nineteen. Fifty SO i got us thinking of old
school cartoons and which ones are.

Speaker 2 (55:12):
Still special to.

Speaker 1 (55:13):
Us If rich took a, again he took a steamer
on all of our favorites That Todd missouri might agree with.

Speaker 2 (55:20):
Me, todd go, ahead you're on the, Show.

Speaker 6 (55:23):
Tom And jerry was. Mine BUT i ACTUALLY i did
want to agree with you that pinut is.

Speaker 2 (55:27):
Trash thank you you, guys have you know what the? Two,
okay then why do people still rock Like Joe Cool
SNOOPY t? Shirt?

Speaker 1 (55:35):
Who what do you?

Speaker 2 (55:36):

peanut stuff doesn't sell? Nowadays it. Does that's What i'm.

Speaker 1 (56:00):

of thing, internationally not just here In. America snoopy's, iconic
can you? Guys Snoopy lake on the top of the.

Speaker 4 (56:12):

but watching it, now.

Speaker 1 (57:34):

you you're also discrediting like the legacy Of. Peanuts it
had a long run and it still lives, today and
the movie that came out in the like around twenty

Speaker 1 (01:03:03):
Guys i'm sitting there and there's a lot of buzz
on social media About judge's legacy and how it all
depends on whether or not he wins The Big, game
he wins The World, series he wins it, all AND i,
mean it's the one thing that held Back Don. Mattingly
but when they're saying like, now it's like he's still got,
YEARS i. Know that's What i'm saying is when you
think of all The yankee, greats from The babe To Yogi,

(01:03:26):
berra To Mickey, mantle To Reggie jackson to Modern Derek
jeter To Mariano, rivera what do they all have in?
Common they're winners and. Champions the one, bummer the one
bummer for number twenty, three the great Mustachio Don mattinglee
was that he never he never got one and his
back injury took him out. EARLY i just think that

(01:03:48):
a guy Like Aaron judge needs A World series to

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
