Speaker 1 (00:26):
Be careful everybody.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
I'm Covino, lactose intolerant Steve Covino, that is Rich Davis
ag is here. Unfortunately, we got sixty Ryan here. You're
not coming to the studio. We got Spotty here on
the YouTube channel Covino and Rich FSR. Also, Spotty's getting
ready for mid week major because it's already midweek, turning
your hump day into a hump night. And I saved

(00:49):
the best for last. Here's my guy, dan Byer. I'm
a dan Byer guy. Hey YOUFSR. Let's right out. Let's
go all right.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
We got lots of NFL to get to.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
Baseball stats are in and my goodness, I think I
saw a headline that more than half of Canada watched
the World Series, so man when we write with Baseball's Poppin' Huh.
It's back in a big way. But as I said,
I've quoted this years ago. Don't call it a comeback.
It's been here for years. But I cool Jay stole
that from me. We got to start the show with

(01:19):
just an announcement that it's not official. Official, it's not
official like Danielle Fishle my favorite, uh other than Kelly Kapowski,
my favorite girl from our childhood. Okay to Peka, it's
not official, but Nate Diaz is taken over for Tank
Davis to fight Jake Paul November fourteenth. We're gonna talk

(01:43):
about it eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox right now,
we're broadcasting live from the Fox Sports Radio studio. And
if you miss any of today's show, any of our
discussion about Jake Paul, Nate Diaz, and of course we
got to talk about.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
Haley Bailey and Matt Khalil. There's a story there. I go.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
You have lots to get you can miss anything. Can
I give you a hint about the Hally Belly story?

Speaker 3 (02:04):
Sure?

Speaker 1 (02:04):
And Mikhalail apparently two and a half coke cans? That's it?

Speaker 2 (02:11):
What so listen as wild stars are gonna get to
but this Nate Diaz, Jake Paul fight.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
Yes, Nate Diaz, Jake Paul, please tell me who cares?

Speaker 2 (02:21):
If you miss any of this again, catch it on
the podcast five Stars, search Es Cavino and Rich wherever
you get your podcast. Care.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
I care.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
I'll watch any fight. I watch animals fight on Animal Planet.
I watch bugs fight. I watch my dog fight a
praying mantis. That's a true story. My dog came into
the house with a praying mantis and I said, the
praying mantis doing drunken, drunken master Ninja moves they were fighting.
I enjoyed it. I love any fight now. I love
legitimate fights more like I want to see a real

(02:52):
fight like Virgil Ortiz's fighting this weekend. You're like, who,
I don't care, because you're the bozo that loves the
circus and loves the spectacle. Casual fans love it, and
if it brings casual fans to fighting and boxing, I'm
all for it. Nate Diaz forty years old, Jake Paul
twenty eight years old. Now the backstory exists. Jake Paul
is supposed to fight Gervonte Davis, like Rich said, Jervonte

(03:14):
Davis got in some trouble. He assaulted a stripper. That's
the other story. There's many stories surrounding this guy got
him in some trouble. Now he's off that fight. And
as you know, Jake Paul spoke publicly about his disdain
for this guy and how he promotes swimmen and he
supports women. He'd never want to give more money to
this guy. So that fights off. Who's going to replace him?

(03:37):
Francis and ghan who was a name, Ryan Garcia was
a name. Roaldie Romero through his gloves in the ring
edgar Berlango was saying he wanted that pay day. Well,
of course I wouldn't want to pay day, but of
all the people you just named, I would have been
probably pumped for any of those. Wow in Ghanu so big,
would a whoop Jake Paul's ass. And then he said, oh,

(03:57):
Ryan Garcia, that's a smaller guy, but that would have
been on Everything you mentioned is better than Nate Diaz,
who no one cares about.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
What do you mean anymore?

Speaker 2 (04:06):
You mean UFC legend Banass, younger brother of Nick Diaz
Legend Nick Daz Nate Diaz. It's a rematch. By the way, Hello,
did anyone not see the battle beat him? Can I
just say, I'm not here to say I'm so pumped
about this, but I'm saying it's better than nothing. Because
you and I were going away next week boys trip right,

(04:29):
We're going to Arizona. Watched the Cardinals play. We planned
on watching a fight. Give you another day, got Jacoby Brissett.
There's thousands of people who were excited to go to
see this fight. Maybe friends getting together. At least we're
gonna get something again. Allegedly supposedly, not officially, but likely
Nate Diaz, Jake Paul too. It's a rematch and a

(04:50):
worthy rematch. And here's why Nate Diaz really fought fought
hard in this fight. Dude, it was It was a
closer fight than anyone had expected. It was a bit
of a battle, and dude, is better than nothing.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
I'll take it. Can I tell you something?

Speaker 2 (05:06):
First of all, your memory must be trash because there
was nothing awesome about that fight.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
I remember Nate Diaz looked sluggish.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
And Nathdaz lacked power, but he kept fighting and it
made it exciting. Oh, they should use your tagline, because
that's how I feel about it. Nate Diaz versus Jake
Paul quote better than nothing. Wow, you're really selling it. Hey, guys,
you know Dann Bayer, you want to uh, you want
nothing for lunch or a sandwich for lunch? Sandwich better
than nothing?

Speaker 1 (05:34):
Right?

Speaker 4 (05:35):
Btn?

Speaker 1 (05:36):
Better than hey?

Speaker 2 (05:38):
Man, wasn't that our tagline Today's national donut Dad? I
think someone brought us donuts? Right, there was one, like,
you know, like plain donut left hey.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
Better than nothing?

Speaker 2 (05:47):
And you know what, you could say that sounds lame,
but it's also true and it's also correct, and then
use that to the little little piece of that donut
was Btn as Dan Bayer put it better than nothing? Well,
and he just take this because I Nate, nobody deserves
it more than a Nate Daz. The guy devoted his
life to fighting and mixed martial arts. He's a tough dude,

(06:07):
He's a badass. These other guys really just wanted to
pay day. Nate Diaz really just wants to get in
here and brawl. He wants to fight.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
Nate Diaz.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
To me, he's like the Kevin Feeder line of MMA,
Like someone from like that was like relevant at one
point ten twenty years ago, and no one really cares anymore.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
Nate Diz, Hey, where's my MMA? Fans at?

Speaker 2 (06:25):
Did you hear what this guy just said? The Kevin
Feeder line of mma of fighting, the Kevin Feeder line,
A guy who accomplished nothing, that's what he's saying about. Backup,
married he's the casper of you're talking about a mixed
martial art legend and fan favorite. Less he's a fan
favorite for sure, Nate Diaz. So you're really downplaying his

(06:48):
fighting significance. Is he a boxer? No, but neither is
Jake Paul Really?

Speaker 4 (06:54):
Well, he is now, but I'm now I'm interested in
the fight, just to see if Nate Diaz comes out
to popos Au at the fight. Kevin Federline's great hits.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
I know that's well he compared, you know what, to
say the same level of significance to me.

Speaker 5 (07:10):
No.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
When I saw a headline yesterday it said Cardly Ray
Jepson's pregnant and congratulations. But I'm like the call her
maybe girl? How is she still getting a headline? How
is Nate dan still getting a headline? Nate Diaz is
way more legendary than you're painting the picture out to
be right now, we're talking about a guy who devoted,

(07:30):
like I said, devoted and dedicated his life to UFC.
One of the UFC, I don't want to say faces
of the Mount Rushmore.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
But he's up there.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
Man lazily collected money from Jake Paul once before to
just stand there and have a half assed back if
you were dropped on your if that was way more
of a battle than anyone had expected, because Jake Paul
is a lot stronger and bigger and younger, better of him.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
All right, well.

Speaker 2 (07:54):
Again this is the update. Just as we got ready
for the show. It looks like he signed, he accepted.
That's that's what it was. The story right now as
we know it again it's a little after two pm
out here on the West Side, is that Nate Diaz
accepted the offer. I didn't know there was a legitimate
offer on the table because there were so many names
involved in trying to fill the replacement here now, but

(08:18):
you know what it is, you know, it's when I
have a hard time really buying in, when the person
just doesn't it lacks relevance, like when Nate Diaz was
in his prime that's a really interesting time to transition
to boxing and see if he's got it. But he's
a fighter, and you think that the casual fight fan
knew who Gervante Davis was casual fight fan, but he's

(08:40):
a legitimate Nathiaz is a is a more exciting draw
as far as name recognition.

Speaker 1 (08:46):
It was the two thousands and you were wearing an
Affliction T shirt.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
All right, well, hey you heard Rich by I want
I want to know that's Rich Davis talking smack.

Speaker 1 (08:54):
About Nate Diaz.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
Irrelevant could be I'm here saying that I thought he
battled stronger than I had expected the first time, and
I thought we got a pretty decent fight out of
it the first time. I'll take the rematch. Who would
I like to see the most Ryan Garcia? But Ryan
Garcia is a legitimate fighter, dude. That's like it's anyone
would take the payday, but it's beneath him at this point,

(09:15):
and it's beneath of Francis and Ghano, and in fact,
Francis and ghan who said I feel disrespected.

Speaker 1 (09:22):
Everybody you know wants the money. I get it. Let
me tell you how this is a perfect fight for
a Nate dim.

Speaker 2 (09:27):
Well, I'm gonna give an analogy that you might understand,
being that you're a Jersey guy. Sure, back in the
two thousands, when you and I first started working together,
late two thousands, I remember a big get on our show,
believe it or not, was the cast of the Jersey Shore.

Speaker 1 (09:44):
Well yeah, around that time, but they were like the Beatles.

Speaker 2 (09:47):
It was like when we had Snookie in the situation
and Pauli D and all those guys on our show.

Speaker 1 (09:51):
Hey, it's your boy, Baldi D And you're listening to
Cavino and Rich Oh yeah, Kams are here.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
But I remember it being a big deal, like, Wow, Snooky,
we got That's a good get.

Speaker 6 (10:03):
Now.

Speaker 2 (10:05):
I remember, like a decade later, like, yo, guys, we've
got some talent availabilities here.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
Do you guys want Jaywow? And I was like, no,
that's me.

Speaker 2 (10:17):
That's how I feel about Nate Diaz fighting Jake Paul
I think you're talking about it a well respected fan
favorite of the UFC. Honestly, I feel like you you
missed the boat on his popularity or something, or no
I did in ahead he's the Jad, He's the Kevin Federline.

Speaker 1 (10:36):
Give you keep naming. I think you're forgetting like the resume.

Speaker 2 (10:39):
This guy was always a draw, a UFC draw, and
you know it's not his first time putting on boxing gloves.
So your thoughts. The only thing Nate Diaz lacks is power,
but he still has the fight. Don't underestimate his competitiveness.
And he's a little older now, he's forty, but he's

(10:59):
not done by any means. He's forty, you know, as
they say, shake Paul's twenty eight again. For the record,
this is the update. It looks like it's happening. He accepted,
and it's the one that makes the most sense because
it's worthy of a rematch. I think nath Diaz deserved
the rematch. You already talked a lot of smack. He
said something along the lines if it were to happen,
that he was going to dominate and destroy it.

Speaker 1 (11:19):
No, what is he supposed to say? But he's not
that kind of guy. He's kind of a laid back dude.

Speaker 2 (11:23):
I think he wants his revenge inist fight Dan Buyer,
As I said, before every big fight, you know the
slogan before every big fight, btn bro better nothing better
than nothing?

Speaker 1 (11:34):
All right?

Speaker 2 (11:34):
So and listen, I agree with the sentiment of better
than nothing, because coming out's right, we are we are
doing like a guy's weekend with some of our buds,
and Friday night we planned on getting a nice dinner
and watching the Jake Paul Tank Davis fight.

Speaker 1 (11:46):
That was part of the plan. So I guess this
is better than nothing. But that's like, yeah, and the
guys we were with, none of them know who Tank
Davis is.

Speaker 2 (11:55):
Now, I'm a boxing fan, so of course I know
who Tank Davis is, and I know there's a lot
of people that do right. But as far as like
the casual fan, much more people are gonna know Nate
Diaz from his UFC fame David there was at least
an angle with the Tank Tank Davis that was a
circus fight. He weighs one hundred and thirty five pounds.
Thank you for saying that, because that was the point.
The point of the Jake Paul Tank Davis fight. And

(12:17):
Danny G you'll back me up, is wow, could one
of the best pound for pound little guys compete with
Jake Paul, who's way bigger but not necessarily a boxing
petty career.

Speaker 3 (12:27):
When that was first announced, you guys argued about it
on the air for a copy.

Speaker 2 (12:31):
Made it interesting. It doesn't mean it's going to be
a better fight. For all we know, we're gonna get
a much better battle with Nate Diaz. The guy's tough.
Rich is the guy. I want everyone to know that
Rich is the guy downplaying night DZ right now. And
I want Nick his brother to come here and kick
your ass. So anyway, eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox.

Speaker 3 (12:49):
Yeah, in California, it's gonna come after you.

Speaker 2 (12:51):
Yeah, exactly. You're talking like a lot of smack about
the wrong guy. So A seven seven ninety nine on Fox.
Your thoughts on you?

Speaker 1 (12:59):
Said?

Speaker 2 (13:00):
Yes, I'm sorry, I think said Edwin Das who just
decided to backstand my Mets and uh opt for a
free agency.

Speaker 1 (13:05):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 2 (13:06):
Oh, I'm gonna have up a Dodger. So your thoughts
on this, because it is the late breaking story. As
we get into the studio here on this hump day,
Covino and rich Ny Diaz accepted the fight. Is it official?
We'll let you know when it is, but it seems
to be. But in the world of fighting, you never
know until you see it. All right, Well, hey CNR
on FSR Now one other note before we move on,

(13:29):
we're gonna get to some NFL. I know there's a
mad Dog Russo clip we got to make fun of
a little bit because get all mad about stuff. You
don't need to get mad at you. Do you feel
like your parents like, because he's rather with our parents' age.
Your parents get mad about it, just cranky about everything everything. Absolutely,
it's just this happens with time. Tell me that your dad,
if there's a ten minute wait at the barber, he's like, yeah,

(13:50):
I'm leaving. He doesn't wait ten minutes. He doesn't wait.
And they love to complain, but that's okay. I mean
you as a as their child, that's your job to listen.

Speaker 1 (14:00):
And you know, one day we'll be there.

Speaker 2 (14:01):
We'll be the old guy complaining so uh Med Doug
Grusso complaining about something to do with the Dodgers. We'll
get to that. We'll get to some NFL. But Danny
g real quick. You sent us the stats and they're remarkable.
Anyone that doubted baseball, I know we've been harping on
it for the last months, like Baseball's pop and it's back.

Speaker 1 (14:20):
It's great. And for the non baseball.

Speaker 3 (14:23):
Fans month do you guys started out in July.

Speaker 1 (14:25):
I mean, we've all but we're big baseball guys.

Speaker 2 (14:27):
So my instinct told me I was everyone's watching this
and Game seven of the twenty twenty five World Series,
get this, Get this average fifty one million viewers combined
across the US, Canada and Japan, making the thrilling, eleven
inning game the most watched baseball game in thirty four

(14:52):
years since Game seven of the nineteen ninety one World Series.
And they had to have enjoyed that show, man, like
you can't ask for a better game. Everybody tuned in
and they watched something great. And I'm so happy to
be the show that. Oh we're not the only show.
Got to give props to MLB bro Ron Parker, but

(15:14):
that always talks about baseball, and we're telling you what
a great game it is. And we tell our friends, man,
you're sleeping on baseball. And we saw the come up
and rise of these teams. So happy to be part
of it. I'm not surprised. I'm really not. It was
a great season and a perfect ending for a great season.
So props to baseball. Let's take two quick phote calls
on the me me me the resps. That's natean Diez

(15:37):
Jacoba for the record, though in the first fight they
both came in at one eighty five. It was about
two years ago one eighty five cruiserweight fight, and Paul
won by unanimous decision in ten rounds like ninety I
don't know. The scorecards were way different than what I saw.
It was like ninety eight, ninety one, ninety seven to
ninety two. Oh. I thought it was a closer fight

(15:59):
because toward the end, Diaz was really stepping up, showing
a lot of hard you don't remember that the whole fight,
and Adz had nothing, and then at the end he
started to get a little flashy and get a little wild,
and there were like maybe two glimpses of him like
trying things. It was the weakest ass fight, And I
don't know how anyone could be excited for this. It
would be like going to a restaurant that's stunk. You
got diarrhea, you hated it going down, you hated everything

(16:22):
about it, and then your friend's like, let's go back
to that restaurant.

Speaker 1 (16:24):
What are you going to say?

Speaker 2 (16:25):
I feel that way about Pachiao Mainweather because there's talks
about them fighting again, It's like, does anyone want to
see this? But you're still going to tune in, so anyway,
there's pretty flights that you watch right and the and
you see our buddy Ariel Hawane or any give Aen Brock,
some Procke and Brock. I love those guys and Hall

(16:47):
of Famer worked with the DESPN.

Speaker 1 (16:54):
I know what are you talking about? Brian Custer? Uh soon,
but Bernie sooner? Bernie is of course I love Bernie.

Speaker 2 (17:01):
When when we see those guys doing a post fight
interview and the sentiment is like, Yo, we're gonna try
to you guys gonna try to run it back.

Speaker 1 (17:09):
There's plenty of times where you're like, yeah, that would
be great.

Speaker 2 (17:11):
I would love to see this fight again, said no
one after the Diaz Jake Paul, And that's why I
find it interesting. Well, Bernardo Asuno deserves a proper shout out.
He's one of the best. But what's your analysis when
it comes to this fight?

Speaker 1 (17:25):
Guys? We'll take your phone calls now and we'll move
on and talk some NFL. Pete in Vegas. What's up, Pete?

Speaker 5 (17:31):
Gentlemen? How all are you today?

Speaker 3 (17:33):
What's up?

Speaker 1 (17:33):
Buddy?

Speaker 2 (17:33):
Did you hear what Rich called Nate Diaz the Kevin
fetterline of MMA.

Speaker 5 (17:39):
First of all, I'm afraid to even answer the fact
that I know it wasn't even the person he said
of a damn Britney spears that he was married dude.
The fact that I know that scares me. But guys,
he must be crazy. All those nights, I was watching
the fight and I'm getting ready to go cashing a
giant ticket only to see IDAs with one eye, one arm,

(18:02):
and one foot get off the tarp and knock the
holy Bazooka out of the guy and win the fight.

Speaker 7 (18:08):
That's what he does.

Speaker 1 (18:09):
Yeah, he got Haru.

Speaker 5 (18:10):
He lets him kick their butt so he could come
back and knock him out.

Speaker 1 (18:14):
Listen, I hope we get something, but I feel like
we're gonna be severe.

Speaker 2 (18:18):
That last fight, by the way, was August fifth, twenty
twenty three, sold four hundred and fifty thousand dollars pay
per view BYES and it generated twenty seven million in revenue,
so at three point one from ticket sales. So of
course they're going to run it back if they have
the chance. And the story now is he has accepted.
So who else we got?

Speaker 1 (18:38):
Trip in Vegas. Hey, Trip, what's up?

Speaker 6 (18:41):
Hey guys, because Cavino, You're gonna love this. I'm sitting
here waiting to go to my barbershop. All hispanic except
for me the question I have And Danny G's laughing
because he let me through on this. As I told him.
When y'all go to San Francisco, are y'all going to
be in like a ham your cage or are you
going to get your own rooms? That goes way back

(19:04):
for many years on that conversation.

Speaker 2 (19:06):
We are going to Arizona, Yeah, to watch Phoenix, Yah
in Phoenix and you know Rich Knight true story. Probably
sharing a room. Well, no, it's an airbnb.

Speaker 1 (19:23):
Oh so we're not. It's an airbnb. But we've shared
rooms before, you know what. I'm very shared last year
in Miami.

Speaker 2 (19:30):
Yeah, I mean it's an airbnb with like you know,
we don't look at each other's junk.

Speaker 3 (19:36):
We found out on yesterday showed that your partners.

Speaker 1 (19:39):
Let's say hi to Justin in Fargo. What's up Justin?

Speaker 6 (19:42):
Hey, buddy, Hey, I just want to weigh on a
game set of the World series.

Speaker 8 (19:46):
I've listened to a lot of the networks in the
postgame coverage, and I haven't heard anyone say anything about
the Dodgers on defense. Didn't have not one clean inning
there is. Blue just had traffic on every inning of
the game, which makes the win are more impressive to me.
I just want to know what you guys thoughts on
that was.

Speaker 2 (20:04):
My thoughts are simple, man, I don't I'm not saying
that the Blue Jays were the better team. They lost,
but there was something about them that felt that way
to me. And when I got from the Dodgers is
regardless of the fight of the Blue Jays, they know
how to win and they were able to pull that off.
They just know how to win. And you just, yeah,

(20:26):
they got on and they fought, but the Blue Jays,
but the Dodgers knew how to get out of it.
I just think that the you have to give the
Blue Jays equal credit. Though as far as providing excitement,
excite fight. The ratings, the ratings weren't huge just because
it was the Dodgers. The ratings were huge because it
was the Dodgers versus a gritty, heart filled Blue Jays
team that took a Dodgers team that everyone expected to

(20:49):
really just win easily to the brink to extra innings
in Game seven.

Speaker 3 (20:53):
So I think I don't even think Dodger fans, though
rich thought that was going to be an easy World Series,
not with the.

Speaker 1 (20:58):
Bullpens start every were cold even against the Brewers.

Speaker 3 (21:02):
The Dodgers back tue but very true.

Speaker 2 (21:04):
Yeah, but according to Las Vegas they were two to one.
They were it was like minus two thirty to one.

Speaker 3 (21:08):
One hundreds Vegas. Though the Blue Jays were the number
one seed, the Dodgers were not, you know, one hundred
percent as far as their bats and definitely not what
they're pitching. So uh, I was nervous going into that
World Series. I wasn't puffing out my chest like, oh,
we're gonna sweep this Blue Jays team.

Speaker 1 (21:24):
I think there's an intangible there though.

Speaker 2 (21:26):
That was so evident with the Dodgers, And I think
anyone that knows sports or even plays for fun knows
what I'm talking about. You might not be the most aggressive,
might not be the most flashy, Like you just know.

Speaker 1 (21:36):
How to win.

Speaker 2 (21:37):
And the Dodgers have that on top of being flashy
and everything else. They just know how to win. And
we're able to do that, and that's what we witnessed
and it was awesome. Yeah, justin in Fargo. Thank you,
thank you for the call. We're going to get to
the rest of your phone calls. Nate Diaz, Jake Paul
looks like a rematch is happening November fourteenth, because Tank

(21:59):
Davis is in ahole, that's why. And we got more
Cavino and Rich midwek Major Mike's Wednesday Words of Wisdom
prizes to give away. We'll do it all next right
here on Fox Sports Radio. Nate dis the k fed
of MMA. No one cares. We're all gonna be wasting

(22:23):
our time now in two weeks watching Jake Paul whooping
old ass. Nate Diaz, Welcome back to Cavino and Rich
as negative Norberto Rich Davis. Dude, you have Gervonte Davis
who has this assault charge on him from a stripper,
plus all these other charges that have come up with
this guy. The fight's canceled. Jake Paul scrambling to put

(22:48):
something together. I'm not a Jake Paul guy or fan
or super fan or anything like that. For the record,
just making it clear he's able to pull something together
last minute for everyone's entertainment. It's UFC legend Nate he
as for a legitimate rematch, and you're complaining about it.

Speaker 1 (23:04):
I'll watch it pumped.

Speaker 2 (23:06):
Well, but my point is you have a dilemma. You
try to make some dilemonade out of it. He's doing
his best, he's doing this, but what is he supposed
to do? So instead of applauding the guy for hey man,
you know, thanks for still making the fight happen and
giving you know, the fans some entertainment. Like my dad
went to go into New York City to see a

(23:26):
Broadway shell once with his wife, with Hugh Jackman. Oh,
Hugh Jackman, the greatest showman. Come to find out it's
the understudy. My Dad's like, I, oh my money back?

Speaker 1 (23:38):
You went home. No one wants to see this junk.

Speaker 2 (23:43):
Speaking of junk, there's a junk story we're gonna get
to in a minute that's way more interesting. Well your thoughts, Yeah,
there's a few phone calls left on this interesting and
the numbers eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox Everything
at Covino and Rich at Fox Sports Radio. We still
got Mike's Wednesday words of Wi them giving away prizes
Midweek Major and more. I have a question, if you

(24:04):
could pick someone at Fox Sports Radio that you think
could do the worm as good as Freddy Freeman, who
do you think it is? That's a good question because
who would have thought Freddy Freeman could do the worm
the way he did the worm? I mean, Doug's a
pretty athletic guy. He's still coaching college hoops and he's
a you know, in shape?

Speaker 1 (24:22):
Is Doug? The answer is it you?

Speaker 8 (24:24):
No?

Speaker 2 (24:25):
Because I think Casey Rob Parker, because the worm doesn't
mean that you could dance necessarily, it's just that you
could do the worm. Might be someone like Jay Stu,
like someone unexpect.

Speaker 1 (24:35):
You think Jay Stue could do the worm? That's right,
I got In fact, I've perfected it for minute years.
I thought the the worm in high school, junior high,
throughout my.

Speaker 2 (24:44):
Whole career, Big sexy Ryan the worm, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (24:48):
I don't think it's Big Mike can though. Do you
think big Mike dan By? What make uh? Maybe thirty
five years ago? It's so funny though.

Speaker 2 (24:58):
Because if you don't know what Rich is talking talking about.
Freddie Freeman just did the most perfect worm. It's like
it was really good. Would have never expected that he
was able to pull that on. That doesn't mean the
guy's like a great dancer, doesn't mean he's gonna be
uh an electric boogoloo.

Speaker 4 (25:15):
Three.

Speaker 2 (25:15):
Now you got to ask yourself though, if put to
the test because you had to, you think you could. No,
it's a skill, it's something. Yeah, it's something you've practiced it,
but you don't think your body can move that way.
Your agile guy, Yeah, I.

Speaker 1 (25:30):
Can't do it. You're not some ten and three fourth stanks,
But yeah, no, I can't do it. I'll try to
be generous. I just know I can't. I think you're
five to eight. No, nope, Kyler Murray, can you do it?

Speaker 8 (25:41):
Or no?

Speaker 4 (25:42):
I think Freddy Freeman's height, So I think we got
to look at someone who's who's tall, maybe slender. So
I don't mind the Rob Parker, I got it. I yeah, Isaac,
I think would be good. I think, yeah, there you go.

Speaker 1 (25:59):
If Steve Desager just bust at the worm, I just
may walk out and they were coming back. It's not
tall enough though. It's less of a dance move, more
of like a party trick.

Speaker 2 (26:07):
But I do wonder like and toraight we want to
harp on the worm, but I guarantee we've all been
to a wedding, an event, to party where the unassuming
person does the worm's I don't know who could be.

Speaker 1 (26:19):
He did a great job. It was pretty wild. I
couldn't believe it. I was like, is this real? I
think it was Ai? Is this Ai? Let's going on? Man,
Freddie Freeman, get a move. You think LeVar could do
the worm play? He's an elite athlete. I don't know.
I don't know. You know what we'll think about it.

Speaker 2 (26:34):
We got a lot of phone calls coming in at
eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox, some about Nate
Diaz and some about the NFL, some about the MLB.

Speaker 1 (26:43):
But uh, let's go to Dan Byer. Speaking of Dan Byer,
let's say hello for an update.

Speaker 4 (26:47):
Hey guys, I got a bunch of NFL news, but
literally just coming in seconds ago. Jimmy Butler's out tonight
for the Warriors against Sacramento and other NBA news. No,
Austin Reeves tonight for the Lakers is they take on
the Spurs and Jess and are Walker Kestler is going
to miss the rest of the year because of a
left shoulder injury. I know maybe some people playing daily
fantasy you want to get their lineups in. That's what

(27:07):
we've got tonight. Looking ahead to Week ten in the NFL, guys,
there will be no CJ. Stroud for the Houston Texans,
ruled out because of a concussion suffered in Week nine,
So Davis Mills starts for the Texans in their matchup
against the Jaguars.

Speaker 1 (27:20):
The Cardinals are placing quarterback Kyler Murray on injured reserve
with his foot injury. Right now, what he's going to
concentrate on is getting healthy.

Speaker 5 (27:28):
He's not healthy enough to play and needs to get
healthy so he can get back to playing football.

Speaker 4 (27:34):
That said coach Jonathan Gannon. So Jacoby Brissett, who's going
to start against the Seahawks in Week ten, would be
in line to start the three other games following that,
as Murray will miss an additional four games because of
the IR placement. Forty nine Ers quarterback Brock Purty limited
in practice. I feel like a broken record, but that's
what he was today. No practice for Ricky Pearsall Niners
have that huge showdown with the Rams coming up in.

Speaker 1 (27:55):
The Bay Area.

Speaker 4 (27:56):
Pukainakua expected to play despite suffering a real issue against
the Saints this past weekend, but Sean McVay expects to
have his star wide receiver available for that divisional game.
A couple of other notes, guys commanders said. Coach Dan
Quinn told reporters they're still evaluating how to proceed with
the elbow injury suffered by quarterback Jaden Daniels last Sunday night.

(28:17):
Of course, Marcus Mariota is going to start against the Lions.
No practice today for Bill's running back James Cook, Panther's
running back ric O'Donnell or Patriots running back Romandre Stevenson.
And Bill Belichick, one of nine former NFL head coaches
who Advanceton's the into the semi finals in balloting for
the Hall of Fame.

Speaker 1 (28:32):
Back to you, guys, Thank you, Dan, Bill Belichick. He
could do the worm. He could do the worm. Imagine
onto the onto the worm.

Speaker 2 (28:41):
This whole Brissette story, the Kyler Murray story, reeks of me.
It reeks to me like it's a cover up of sorts,
and that's sort of speculation. Yeah, that's all over social
media today. That's the big stories like is he really
that hurt? Or is Brissett just better, and he started
better now and starting for the team, Like there's the
truth and the spin, Like it feels to me rich,

(29:03):
Like when when I was getting a divorce, I didn't
want to tell my daughter I was moving out, so.

Speaker 1 (29:08):
I told her, Oh, I just had a that has
to be closer to work for a while.

Speaker 2 (29:13):
And I feel like they don't want to tell us
that Kyler Murray's not starting it's his foot injury. Like
I feel like they're not getting the full truth out
of that story yet, or maybe his foot really is
that bad, But that's the vibe I'm getting, like we're
not getting the true real story yet.

Speaker 1 (29:28):
Well, I'll tell you what you are getting the true
story though.

Speaker 2 (29:30):
In San Francisco, Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch have made
it very clear that it's brock Perty's team and when
he is ready to go, well, mac Jones even said that, yeah,
he's ready to go. This is not a well let's
take our time with Purdy because mac Jones has been
a quality backup. They're saying, if party could go in
any capacity, he will play. There's no like, well, let's

(29:50):
stick with mac Jones while Purdy's nursing his injury if
brock Party has a chance to play, he'll play.

Speaker 1 (29:56):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (29:56):
So there's a lot of phone calls about a lot
of different things. Eight ninety nine on Fox. Let's go
through it, uh Swifty and Vermont. What's up, buddy?

Speaker 7 (30:07):
Hey, guys, how's it going?

Speaker 1 (30:08):
What's up?

Speaker 7 (30:08):
Man?

Speaker 1 (30:08):
We're good.

Speaker 7 (30:10):
So I'm calling about Game six, the controversy that was
never called and an inapperence call that was never called
on Mookie Bets's shot that scored to sho heeo. Tani
comes in first and as the Toronto pitcher is backing
up the catcher, he's boxing him out like a basketball player.

Speaker 1 (30:30):
Yeah, that was wild, never called. Yeah, that was a
good one.

Speaker 3 (30:34):
That was it.

Speaker 1 (30:34):
Did you see that play?

Speaker 3 (30:35):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (30:35):
Of all the plays Tani boxed them, that was I mean,
I think because it could be left for interpretation of
like was he really trying to box him out or
was he just there and he just collided?

Speaker 1 (30:47):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (30:47):
That was interesting. It showed a little bit of a
It showed me a different side of show. Hey, like
he's doing he's willing to do anything knowing here. All right,
let's say hi to Mike, who wants to talk a
little Nate Diaz and Fresno.

Speaker 1 (30:59):
What's up?

Speaker 7 (31:01):
What's up?

Speaker 6 (31:01):
Fellas? Always enjoy the show and enjoy listening.

Speaker 5 (31:04):
Thanks first off, Nate, you know, it's not like he's
mega rich, so you know it is a payday for him.

Speaker 1 (31:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (31:11):
And the thing about Nat is he's always entertaining and
he's always going to bring it and I love his swag.

Speaker 6 (31:16):
Man, talk to you guys.

Speaker 2 (31:17):
Later, you know.

Speaker 1 (31:18):
All right.

Speaker 2 (31:18):
So not that I'm scared that Nathane is gonna come
get me, but I do find him entertaining.

Speaker 1 (31:23):
I just think anyone that, yeah it is then you
call him the fetter line of the UFC.

Speaker 2 (31:30):
I mean Federlands are talented, No, but no, no, I'm
just saying Nathan is entertaining as hell. I just think
that anyone that is gonna watch a Jake Paul fight
is looking for like a oh, what's the hook? We
already saw this and it didn't end up great. It
wasn't like this epic fight that you needed to run back,
you know, like if you told me Ryan Garcia, the young,

(31:52):
handsome Ryan Garcia, who Yeah, but Ryan Garcia is of
a different pedigree of fighter, you know, like maybe he
doesn't want to be part of that circus act. Well,
you know what all I'm saying is that Jake Paul
is going to beat Nate Diez and it'll go the distance.
There'll be a moment where Nate Diez is tough and
take some punches and the crowds like.

Speaker 1 (32:12):
Yeah, you're the man Nats.

Speaker 2 (32:14):
Remember before Gervante accepted this fighting, he was already talking
about retirement. You know, it takes away a little bit
of your legitimacy when you're fighting. Jake Paul, by the way,
what a magnificent call. Comes in, gives your props, gives
his take, says I'm gone see you guys, appreciate it.
More of that like bang up job Fresno.

Speaker 1 (32:32):
If only everyone.

Speaker 4 (32:34):
And I'm not, Yeah, it's not everybody else, but like god,
boom boom boom, gone see.

Speaker 1 (32:39):
It boom formatics.

Speaker 2 (32:41):
Yes, he'd be a great call. And we're going to
get to the rest of your phone calls. Hank Tight, Liam,
Mitch Frank, Rob, Hank Tight. We got more Covino and
Rich on Fox Sports Radio next. Oh man, it's Covino

(33:01):
and Rich. I just saw the most annoying thing you're
looking in the mirror. If you follow college hoops specifically
and be a two. I'm sure, but every time a
team gets to sixty seven points and Angel gets his wings,
the crowd just erupts it and like I just saw
like three clips in a row where the minute the

(33:23):
minute sixty seven has hit.

Speaker 1 (33:25):
So you'll be sure to look forth to that all
basketball season.

Speaker 2 (33:29):
Covino and Rich live from the Fox Sports Radio studio
and it's time for our tire rack play of the day.
The Chicago Bulls are off to their best start since
the Jordan era.

Speaker 1 (33:39):
What the hell? Ten seconds remating of the game. Giddy
drives left, hangs in the air, gives left corner boots
for three dight Bulls.

Speaker 8 (33:47):
Ey Bulls take the lead repoint two seconds remaining fourth quarter.

Speaker 1 (33:53):
Hand of Bulls have their first lead of a night.

Speaker 2 (33:56):
That was courtesy of Bulls Radio Network, our tire rack
play the Day, and for over forty years, Tyrak has
been helping customers find the right tires for how, what

(34:17):
hanging out with us. You could watch the show Covino
and Rich FSR on YouTube stream Live.

Speaker 1 (34:22):
Chat Live, pull up the chat man, I'll do it
right now. Let's chat it up.

Speaker 2 (34:26):
You're the chattiest guy going, Rich Davis Covino and Rich
FSR on YouTube. And speaking of Rich Blabermouth Davis, he's
so full of hot air and so full of himself
that when the Mets were doing well last year, he
changed our MLB season bet. I want to take you

(34:48):
back before we get too far past baseball, even though
there's still excitement in the air. Rich and I had
a bet who would have the better season this year?
The Mets are the Yankees. It was a thousand dollars bet.
He shook on it here in the stadio December. We
made the bet in December before the season was popping.
Who was going to have the better season? The Mets

(35:09):
are the Yankees. And it was back and forth all
year until the very end when the Mets just continued
to collapse. If you remember, at one point I was
I got all cocky because the Mets maybe had like
a four game lead. And around that time, as part
of the story, when the Mets were doing well. Rich
said he wanted to change the bet, and I said.

Speaker 4 (35:27):
Well, what is it.

Speaker 2 (35:28):
He goes, no, we changed a bet when they were dead.
Even for every game over, it's another one hundred dollars,
and we shook on that. The Yankees end up beating
the Mets as far as record, and they had eleven
more wins. That means I won a thousand dollars from
the original bet and eleven hundred dollars from the additional

(35:49):
bet that this guy brought upon himself. I didn't want
to do it. I said, sure, whatever, dude, because Rich
is a gambling fool. So that means Rich Davis here
owes me twenty one hundred dollars and we've never resolved
this in the form of ninety four and sixty eight
for the Yankees and the Mets were eighty three and
seveny So I want my big giant check now. I

(36:11):
want to like an Ed McMahon sort of giant check
presented to me.

Speaker 1 (36:15):
That's what I want.

Speaker 2 (36:16):
I want my thousand dollars. But because I'm a nice guy,
I don't want the full twenty one hundred. I'm willing
to make a deal, like deal or no deal, like
call the guy upstairs like Henker. Yeah, I'm gonna call
the banker and make a deal with you. And I
already threw it out there, but Rich short of ignored it.
And if you missed it, my deal was this, and
this was before the World Series. I said, Rich, you

(36:39):
just got your patio done. Life out here in La
is expensive. I'm not gonna make my good buddy, my
co host, give me twenty one hundred dollars because he
was a big mouth who decided to raise the stakes.
It's being too nice. Just give me twe thousand dollars.
That was the original betk and throw in that show
hao tany rookie card you got although the special and
Danny got me like when we first met. I said

(37:00):
that before the World Series. I said that before any MVP,
even though we knew he probably had it again this year,
and I got no response. I got crickets. So are
we going to resolve this?

Speaker 1 (37:11):
What do you think?

Speaker 2 (37:12):
Fox Sports Radio Nation, you think that's a fair sort
of deal. That's very very kind. I want to forget
even called the banker. Hold on, I'm gonna call the
banker and say, you know why, because when Danny G.
I gotta meet Danny G. Understand what I'm getting that.
Danny G was kind enough to buy Rich Davis this
rookie card for what for Christmas?

Speaker 1 (37:32):
One year?

Speaker 3 (37:32):
Danny it was his birthday.

Speaker 1 (37:34):
It was Rich's birthday early on in our show.

Speaker 2 (37:37):
And Danny G's like, hey man, that's a gesture of
kindness and friendship and our journey together as a show.
I present you this birthday gift. And Rich opened it
up and it was an Otani rookie. When you gave
that rookie graded created o' tonny with the jersey in
it and everything. When you gave that card, the Rich

(37:59):
heart sank because I was like, that should be for me.
So I've had my eyes on my car.

Speaker 1 (38:06):
Now.

Speaker 2 (38:06):
The only caveat was I'd be regifting essentially something Danny
gave me.

Speaker 1 (38:11):
Bro I'm giving you. This is either give me that
little piece of cardboard or eleven hundred dollars. This is
the baker. Yeah, this is stump up and actually work.

Speaker 2 (38:20):
Could I press do you want to get feedback from
the Fox Sports Radio Nation first?

Speaker 1 (38:24):
Or should I say you know what? You You've waited
too much. I want to take twenty one. I'm taking
the deal. This is not like the deal. This is
not like shark take. You know when someone will will
ask for mister Wonderful's all right, you waited. I'm done.
Deals off the table. I want to know. You gotta
shake on it. Is it a deal or no deal?
I mean, you're very generous. I'm taking the deal. I'm

(38:45):
taking your son's future old Tani rookie card. Are you
sure about that? Go we documented on.

Speaker 2 (38:53):
Come one thousand dollars plus the card. I'll give you
cash tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (39:01):
Until next season.

Speaker 3 (39:02):
They shook.

Speaker 1 (39:05):
Until next season.

Speaker 2 (39:06):
Bro one hundred and forty two days away. One hundred
and forty one days away. Generous dude, al right, generousy.
I appreciate you heard it here. First, I could have
took twenty one hundred from this fool. That's kindness. I'm
willing to take that rookie and Danny g that's not
considered regifting.

Speaker 3 (39:21):
It's cool.

Speaker 1 (39:21):
It's part of the deal.

Speaker 5 (39:22):
Man.

Speaker 1 (39:23):
It's kicking myself because I could have sold that card
for eleven hundred dollars. Hey, you know, just look it up.
That card's actually wear sixty thousand dollars. He shook on
it too bad. So all right, No, Tandy's yours. I perfect.

Speaker 2 (39:36):
Listen, my goodness, when we made that bet the whole season,
that was anxiety ridden for me. Well, i'll tell you
real quick, and it will be your chance to win
it back. Next base Let me tell you it's uh.
There was a point where they were dead even most
of the year. When your team is on a losing
streak and you're betting on them every day, essentially, it
was miserable. But hey, what a great baseball season we

(39:57):
got out of everything and we could officially close the book.
All right, and your thoughts on that, Plus we gotta
talk Haley Bailey and Matt Khalil and football and more.

Speaker 1 (40:06):
Two coke cans. Well, i'll explain what that means next.
