Speaker 1 (00:29):
You know what I call it? One Soto karma.

Speaker 3 (00:31):
So what I call it?

Speaker 1 (00:32):
Oh, one sodom soda karma, Sodo karma.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
Yeah, Bud, hope you had a Chargers sort of Monday night,
not an Eagles five turnovers sort of Monday five turnover
sounds delicious, not a gealing it hurts for the Monday
let's rock out. Let's have a kick ass Tuesday. We
got Iowa Sam on the ones in Tuess. Great to
see Iowa Sam. Sammy, what's up, buddy? We got Bo
Benson Bo And for Danny g Yo, I'm a little

(01:20):
under the weather. I'm not ceiling up to park Dan Byer,
who I thought. I got a little extra twinkle in
his voice when he said edwards to the Dodgers, I
feel like you are okay with this.

Speaker 4 (01:34):
No, I can't stand either team or to be honest
with you, but I actually like the I would say
I would like the Mets more because of what the
Dodgers did and destroying the Brewers in the NLCS.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
So yeah, so we're good. We're good.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
All right.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
Well, hey, we're gonna get to that. We're gonna give
away prizes, like you said, and we got to start
with uh man, old guys, huh Philip Rivers, Felipe Rios, Philip.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Rivers back in the NFL.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
You heard our guy Dan b first, we heard the
rumors yesterday that he'd have a try out today, And
you're like what At first? You know, the feedback I
was getting from other listeners and friends, like is.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
This real life is ai.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
Our super agent Sean Wyman hit us up immediately, he goes,
is this real? And so many friends of ours were like, yo, Cavinos,
this real? Like I don't know, and then sure enough, yeah,
he's back. Forty four years old. Young, forty four years young.
I want to say that, but forty four years old.
He's a young man in life style, even though he's
a grandpa and someone's around your age. You just got
on the field but hasn't took a snap professionally since

(02:39):
twenty twenty. You know what does that say about the league?
If this guy who hasn't played professionally and over five
years could just jump right back in there. I don't
know what it says. It does it say that there's
Joe one more qualified? The trade deadline passed, so the
idea of playing around with that and seeing you know
what backups and you know, yeah, but this is the NFL.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
And again, grant it.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
He's a guy that's done it all except for whin
a Super Bowl, but a high caliber quarterback but hasn't
played ring rust exists.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
You know what I do?

Speaker 1 (03:09):
Love game play is different than taking snaps in your
backyard with your grandkid.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
I love how a bunch of.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
The Philip Rivers clips have now re emerged on social
media because you remember what a trash talker he was
that ninety yard touchdown.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
Yo, you don't got to say that in my ear,
I do.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
I'm going to He's such a trash talking baby, but
I love him for it, and I love his competitive spirit,
and of course I'll be rooting for him. So I'm
not hating. I'm just stating. I'm not complaining. I'm just explaining.
I'm surprised that he's the go to just goes to
show you how desperate the team is. It's and really
it makes you wonder about the options and can he

(03:49):
really just step in there and play in the NFL.
Well that at this stage of his life, the football
IQ didn't go away. The guy still knows. He still
knows how to read secondaries and reads.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
It's just a matter of you know, maybe he's healed up,
if he's.

Speaker 1 (04:03):
Stayed in shape, like you know, sometimes a guy retires
from professionals or twitch muscles sometimes exercise in a long time.
I'm sure a guy Cavino will sometimes retire from sports,
and you've see him like two years later and he
looks like he aged a decade. And then some people
you're like, wow, when you're not playing every day and
you still going to the gym for all we know,
Philip Rivers looks fantastic.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
But I think it's a combination of a few things.
You asked.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
He's clearly a guy that's taking care of himself, or
else he wouldn't be there. But you asked the question,
how does this happen? And again with the trade deadline passing,
which means no other guy that's sitting on a practice squad,
no other guy that signed as a backup or on
any part of an organization that's off the table. So
when you are so deep into injury with Daniel Jones,

(04:44):
Anthony Richardson, and then beyond that your backup, backups and
practice squad guys are hurt, you really have to then
find someone.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
But aren't there some younger guys recently retired or.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
Maybe a guy that played in about some defunct like
XFUSFL League. No exactly, you would think it's a prime
opportunity for someone like that. No, you know why, though,
Dan Buyer, I think you would agree with the wisdom
is priority here. The wisdom Okay, like the Flocko sort
of thing, but Flocko never stopped playing. Dude.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
Five years is a.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
Lot at the time, but the wisdom that Philip Rivers
did have still trump's like some twenty three year old
kid that may have played in the XFL.

Speaker 4 (05:22):
Yes, I think the cults are just saying, come in
here and just don't mess it up. Man, you can
hand it off to Jonathan Taylor and that's how we're
going to try to win football games. But just come
in here, don't mess it up. And I think if
you were to take a flyer on someone else out there,
that would be more likely of the scenario.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
And please don't misunderstand my take on this. Totally rooting
for the guy. I think it's a really really cool story.
Like what a shock, what a surprise. So I'm just
giving you my thoughts, like, man, I'm surprised we didn't
hear someone else, like no one said Kaepernick for the
first time ever. Oh no, that one guy that calls
all the time will probably call up and say, you know,
that's officially over. I have heard one person say that

(06:01):
super Recede, forty four year old Philip Rivers is the guy,
and Honestly, even though I'm naysaying now, I couldn't be
rooting harder for him. I couldn't be more excited to
see what he still has and how it goes down.
But at forty four, you know, he has a million kids,
he has grandkids, He's a grandpa. How many grandpas do

(06:21):
you know? In the NFL, Hey, listen, Tom Brady competed
at an age older than Philip Rivers is now. And
in fact, if Philip Rivers does play, he stopped five years.
That's the difference. We just talked about the retirement of
Henry Sujudo, right, the term is ring rust or octagon rust.
In this case, he retired for a minute trying to

(06:43):
come back. He was a champion, two time champion, gold
medal winner, was never the same after taking that time off.
You know, your body gets into a different stake and
it's hard to come back to where you once were.
He got his ass kicked to the last few fights, honestly,
because he's you got to keep those reps going, you
gotta stay fresh. No one could ever take away what

(07:04):
he accomplished in the NFL. But when you stop like
that and then you pick it up at this age,
it's a different ballgame, pun intended. I'm wishing him the best.
I don't want to see an injury, and you know,
I hope he proves us wrong. I'm just saying it's
not easy. And this is the NFL. Dude. These are
young guys. I know, dude, but you know what, I
think Philip Rivers gives old guy hope, and hell yeah,

(07:27):
I'm all for that. Keep keep this in mind as well.
Keep this in mind. What you're saying makes sense. The
football iques there, And Dan Bayer pointed out if you're
handed the ball to Philip Rivers and you're a guy
that could grasp an offensive scheme, and hey, meet Michael
Piman Jr.

Speaker 2 (07:44):
You guys get a couple couple slant patterns.

Speaker 1 (07:46):
What was Daniel jumps Will be doing when he heard
his achilles when he tore his achilles, It wasn't really
doing anything much. You know, don't you worry a little bit?
Aren't you concerned about an older Philip Rivers. You know
that's hasn't played at game speed. There's such a difference there.
It's like when we're doing a mic test, you know, Yeah, Mike,

(08:07):
Mike check, Mike check. One two, Hey were good. Test one,
Mike check Mike two. Test one, Test two Mike did good.
Dick Buccus, Mike did good, Dick Buckkis. And then when
you get on there, you're like yess Coveno and Rich
and you're upver modulating like because it's different when when
the lights are on, when the game is real, it's
always different. It's not the same as taking snaps in

(08:28):
practice or like I said, in your backyard with your
twelve kids and grandkids. Philip Rivers, if he does take
a snap this Sunday, will be the second grandfather to
play in the NFL. Do you know the first? I
do because we talked about it earlier, dB, do you
know the first? He'd be the second? Peppy Papy can can?

Speaker 3 (08:49):
I work shop it a little with you guys? You okay?

Speaker 4 (08:51):
So, like you know, George blanda was a name that
was always very popular. I was also thinking maybe there
was a kicker because kickers were Yeah, good one.

Speaker 3 (09:00):
So that's kind of where my mind is going.

Speaker 1 (09:02):
George bland That just looked like a grandpa. Yeah, he
was older than my grandpa. You're it's a little more current,
believe it or not.

Speaker 3 (09:11):
Really, I'll give you that.

Speaker 2 (09:11):
Okay, I think Kicker is a good guest though, because Okay,
long time.

Speaker 3 (09:15):
I was gonna say John Carney.

Speaker 1 (09:17):
It was Brett Farth, Brett farv. Wow, he played for
the Vikings grandfather. Well, I did see, I wasn't guess. Yeah,
I totally forgot that rich. I looked up athletes that
played at forty four. Well, when you scheme people out
of money and send your penis picture of places, people
forget the other things about you. Yeah, exactly, Yeah, people

(09:37):
forget that fun fact.

Speaker 4 (09:38):
You've seen that Southern miss volleyball. It's amazing.

Speaker 1 (09:42):
Yes, Well you already said Tom Brady played late into
his forties, right.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
You mentioned George Bland the dB.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
He played until forty eight, active at forty four. Jerry
Rice was still playing at a high level at forty four.
Warren Moon played at a high level at forty four
in the NBA. He had cream Abdul Jabbar playing at
forty four. Jordan played at a high level in his forties.

(10:11):
How was he forty four years old? Jordan was in
his forties. Definitely wasn't forty four. Vince Carter played in
his forties. Calm Alone played in his forties. Ricky Henderson
played at forty four years old. But here's the thing.
The only thing that concerns me, and again I'm rooting
for the guy who wouldn't be rooting for a really

(10:31):
fun story like this. My only concern is the time off, Dude.
The time off, I think is the difference maker our
buddy Jeff. You could say it keeps him fresh. You
can make it argument that, hey man, it kept them
fresh last years. Some people have, like you know, sources
love a source our buddy Jeff.

Speaker 2 (10:48):
He said.

Speaker 1 (10:49):
The sports director at the news station I work at,
so this guy he's got some insight so that he
knows Philip Rivers personally, and said he's been keeping in
great shape. He throws consistently at the high school field
he coaches. He's convinced that the culture making like a
legit move here because it's not like Philip Rivers is
the guy that retired and he's like, I'm done. He

(11:10):
has stayed in shape, consistently worked out, Steve stuck with
essentially his regimen just hasn't got hit in five years.

Speaker 4 (11:17):
Yeah, but it's also playing d guys, because this is
a team that went with Daniel Jones Anthony Richardson we
talked about yesterday had the freak injury no orbital. Yeah,
so Riley Leonard who came in rookie, had a notre
dame who by all accounts played decent in relief of
Jones on Sunday against the Jaguars. No, he's got a

(11:39):
knee injury. Like very rarely do plan d's worked out.
I guess in a way, Shadoor Sanders was because of
the Browns, you know, quarterbacks that they had in training
camp ahead of him at that time.

Speaker 3 (11:49):
But yeah, this is just desperate times called for desperate measures.

Speaker 1 (11:52):
Do you remember of course everyone does, but I hated
it when Brock Purdy got hurt in the NFC Championship
game against the e and he was already the back
up that season. So then remember they went to the
backup and then was it was it Johns Johnson at
the time, Yes, yeah, he got hurt. And then at
one point they're like, yo, like McCaffrey, can you take snaps?

Speaker 2 (12:13):
Could do?

Speaker 1 (12:13):
Like they were trying to figure out who could Yeah,
they had to remember they throw just hand them off.
Desperate times and with no trade trades available, deadlines passed.
You really are in a situation where it's like, who
is out there that has no affiliation with a team
that's still ready to go in and possibly compete in
a playoff run. Well, that's the other thing I think
that goes understated. You have to factor in like what

(12:36):
a competitor. You know, he's sitting around chilling, being a dad,
being a grandpa, you know, lounging around in his ass state,
just chilling being Philip Rivers and he still has it
in him to get off the couch and want to
compete in the NFL.

Speaker 2 (12:51):
Like that takes a lot.

Speaker 1 (12:52):
Yeah, but I think you're discovering to boredom competitive edge,
like wanting to get out of the house.

Speaker 2 (12:58):
Like, what do you think is?

Speaker 1 (13:00):
I think all those things, But I also think you're
you're describing what all of us are doing retirement.

Speaker 2 (13:05):
He's younger than you, and but I mean he's got wearing.

Speaker 1 (13:09):
But what I'm saying wearing hair, he's he's I have
mental wear and tear from dealing with you every day.
He's a guy that if he stayed in shape, it
sort of makes sense to me. I will say this
though a lot of people in the studio right now
as I'm looking around, we're a bunch of guys in
our forties early mid forties. And guess what I believe
you told me off the air earlier today that you

(13:30):
think you pulled something in your shoulder trying to flot
to swine a fly in your kitchen.

Speaker 2 (13:35):
I'm trying to snag it. Yeah, and I pulled. I
popped this popped mind.

Speaker 1 (13:38):
I have like I have a heel, I have my
my ankle. My ankle hurts from playing Sunday Rex softball.
So listen as you get you hit forty little things
are ailments. Our video guys spot spot currently, didn't you
say your shoulder hurt?

Speaker 2 (13:53):
Your back like three things hurt?

Speaker 1 (13:54):
Yeah, you don't know if it's going to go away
or if it's the start of something for the rest
of your life. And he's hurt.

Speaker 2 (14:00):
Everything hurts.

Speaker 1 (14:01):
So the fact that Philip Rivers is conditioned enough to
give this a shot, I think part two the question
is yeah, but maybe his mind's telling him yes, but
his body, his body's telling him no. I think we'll
find out. I think the question is other than this
Sunday Dan Byer when he faces your Seahawks, is it
a story.

Speaker 2 (14:20):
We all root for it.

Speaker 1 (14:20):
Because ptend again. Then he plays my niner, So.

Speaker 2 (14:22):
We're not gonna be right.

Speaker 1 (14:23):
I think you're but I think we're sort of downplaying
the NFL. I worry for the guy a little bit.
It's one thing for an old Nolan Ryan to go
out there on the mound, or an old Necro to
start throwing knuckleballs, or Charlie Huff, you know, competing at
an old age.

Speaker 2 (14:38):
You're on the mound throwing junk ball pitches.

Speaker 1 (14:40):
This guy's getting hit by fierce, competitive, young, hungry, strongly
line you know what, you might as well make the analogy.
Then last year we were all optimistic. A year ago,
we were optimistic and were like, yeah, Mike Dythan, he's
gonna knock out Jake Paul And within the first round
you're like, oh my god, don't hurt Mike Tyson. At
the same time, as much as I'm rooting for Philip Rivers,

(15:01):
I really am. I swear to you, I think we're
downplaying father time and how young and strong and how
fast moving the NFL is, especially when you haven't been
in it in five years. I think that's a difference
maker here. Hey, it's not about being forty four, it's
about him not playing professionally for five years. Your thoughts
eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox. That's my side.

(15:22):
I couldn't wish him more luck, more luck in his
comeback here. I think it's an amazing story. I think
it's it's a tribute to his conditioning, like you said, Rich,
a testament to how he kept himself in shape. Your
thoughts on how you see this and how it pans
out eight seven to seven ninety nine on Fox, Well, minimum,

(15:43):
you know what you could say, it's a game that
none of us really cared about. In fact, dB, when
you look at this schedule, it's like, Oh, the Cults
without Daniel Jones in a little bit of a disarray.
They're double digit underdogs to your Seahawks.

Speaker 2 (15:57):
Who have been rolling. Now becomes a game.

Speaker 1 (16:00):
Do you think all of a sudden, Philip Rivers is
going to come in there and beat the Seahawks who
seem really good right now? But maybe he pulls at
George Norman. But what it does is it gives you, well,
that's something I want to check out.

Speaker 4 (16:10):
Yeah, I think a month ago it was a game
we wanted to check out, to be honest with you,
a month ago, the Colts were in Germany winning an
overtime against the Falcons. They had just acquired Sauce gardener
and things were looking great and then all of these
the Wales fell off. Yeah, everything just ends up happening,
and I think it will. And this is against the window.
You know, Rich Rich's big TV game is going to

(16:31):
have some competition because it's Broncos Packers and it's Lions
Rams in that late window. But story wise, I think
everybody will be on the side of Philip Rivers if
he's able to play in that contest.

Speaker 1 (16:41):
Those other two games you spoke of have major implications.
But then again, the Colts are still muddy, yes, or
I mean it's they just happen to have a rough month.
I genuinely think that anyone that's got Sunday ticket, I
bet your red zone gives a lot of attention.

Speaker 4 (16:58):
By the way, if they're five and eight, he's not
coming back and the cults are just probably looking elsewhere. Yeah,
if Shane Steichen's not the head coach and Philip Rivers
isn't familiar with the offense, he's probably it's probably not happening.
If Philip Rivers hadn't played in Indianapolis five years ago, it's
probably not happening. Like all of these things had to
line up for this to happen. You know, maybe you know,

(17:18):
maybe there's a situation with one other team or two
other teams in the NFL, But all of these things
had to happen, and most importantly, the colt still being
in the playoff picture. I mean they're tired with the
Texans with a game against Houston coming up later on
this season, like that's it's still there for them, even
though everything looks like it went out the window with
all these injuries.

Speaker 1 (17:35):
See B I don't know if you have insight on this.
Did he reach out to them? Did they reach out
to him, Like did he express interests? Like, hey man
eight and four, Like you said, he wouldn't be coming
back if you weren't competing. Is this something that he
threw out there? And you have to imagine that familiarity
had something to do with it too, right, like they're
bringing back their guy, like there's some familiarity there.

Speaker 5 (17:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (17:55):
I don't know offhand on who it would be who
did what. I don't know if bo or I'm just
hear he's got an idea. But it says that that
Steichen and Rivers remained in contact. This according to the
ESPN story, Uh, they've just remained in contact.

Speaker 3 (18:12):
With each other.

Speaker 1 (18:13):
I mean, I know, I know it's a fictional example,
but remember in Rocky Balboa Rocky six, you know, like
the broadcasters out of teas, they're like, oh, Rocky bo,
He's gonna fight Mason Line Dixon and they made like
old jokes, and you know, Rocky went the distance.

Speaker 2 (18:28):
That was so the storyline planted the seed. Yeah, when
when Philip.

Speaker 1 (18:31):
Rivers, when this was being talked about, I thought it
was a little disrespectful that and I know it was
on fun so not disrespectful, but they were like, hey,
Troy ig when you want to suit up, and it's
like you Traigman's old and been out of the game.
Philip Rivers, I don't know, I just feel like he
got some juice old. It's just again he hasn't played,
and again to give it inspiration, to give it hope.

(18:52):
George Foreman Man, he lived like two different lives professionally.
He came back at forty five. I couldn't believe it
was the same guy at fort Muhammad Ali. You know,
like ten fifteen years earlier, he came back a forty
five won the heavyweight championship by knocking out Michael Moore
in ninety four. So look, I'm not saying he's he's

(19:13):
done by any means. I'm saying I'm a little concerned
and excited all at the same time.

Speaker 4 (19:17):
The good thing is is he will be able to
board early on their flight because of his age, and
the postgame meal will actually be delivered at the fourth
quarter because it's about four o'clock. Get the early birth session.
I'm going I'll just bring it out. And that's just
some of the arrangements that may have to make.

Speaker 1 (19:32):
You know, I saw I'm looking at our feedback on
the YouTube chat, Salvador says, I just don't understand how
an NFL team doesn't have a backup plan at QB.
And like we described, Daniel Jones was the backup plan
originally to Anthony Richardson, and then it was like, well,
Daniel Jones got the juice, Richardson had a freak injury.
Daniel Jones is out their backup practice squad. Guys, these

(19:54):
they're all injured. This is this is what you This
is a movie script. This is like last Resort. This
is Papa Roach style. This is something that you would
see in a movie played by Dennis Quaid. This is
like a movie script. And can't wait to see how
it pans out. Well, we shall see with the feedback

(20:15):
on the YouTube page. By the way, we are streaming
live broadcasting live on the YouTube channel. Covino and Rich FSR.
Covino and Rich FSR. I just read it. I just
read what Seal said. The everyone everyone sort of saying,
like the culture to hit up Matt Ryan. There's there's
other people. But that's what I'm saying, isn't there other people?

Speaker 3 (20:32):
They've got Brett Rippin on their practice squad.

Speaker 4 (20:34):
He started NFL games before, so like like that could
be an option if Riley Leonard doesn't go. But these
are games you want to win. Like you can find
a guy, you can find anybody, but you need to win.
And so they feel that Philip Rivers is their best
option to win. It's not just playing quarterback. You can
find anybody in the league. You can sign someone off

(20:54):
of someone else's practice squad if you want me.

Speaker 2 (20:56):
And you think the thought of winning a ring haunts him.

Speaker 1 (21:00):
He's like he's like goll him out there thinking about
his precious this could be his last shot.

Speaker 4 (21:05):
I would think that's probably gone. But I think it
would have to be fulfilling to be like, it's nice
to be wanted, honestly, right, Yeah that's true.

Speaker 1 (21:13):
Yeah yeah, And to know that you're still desired, You're
still more desirable option than some young unknown. Like we said,
there's a million, there's a million kids that never got
drafted and played in college and are like, I could
do it.

Speaker 3 (21:23):
Think about it?

Speaker 4 (21:23):
Yea, wouldn't you guys like to go back five years
for just like five weeks just to see what it's
And that's kind of I think what it is for
Philip Rivers.

Speaker 1 (21:30):
We'll see what happened on a really high professional level
with millions of people watching. And I hate to be
the naysayer because I'm really not. I'm just posing these questions.

the back of this jersey to be awesome.

Speaker 2 (24:21):
Dad, you're talking all right?

Speaker 5 (24:22):
All right?

Speaker 1 (24:22):
So speaking of number one grandpas, this is my number
one grandma. True story, and we be rocking out of
your shirt. I like that my shirt. You could see it,
Covino and Rich FSR because Iowa. Sam was like, is
that really your grandma? I'm like, yeah, she played basketball
in Mexico, while that's where I got my moves. Bro.
So we're gonna play a game this hour. My kids
are in the studio. They're hanging out in the kitchen

(24:43):
having tacos with Micah runs his place. Nice are you
paying Mike working double time?

Speaker 2 (24:49):
Hey? Yeah, I got this place and the nursery, so I.

Speaker 1 (24:53):
Uh, my wife's out of town, so I'm on I'm
on daddy duty, you know, double dad duty duty.

Speaker 2 (24:59):
So I said, hey, kids.

Speaker 1 (25:00):
We're gonna play a game. Depending on how well you do.
Maybe we'll get some baseball cards on the way home
or something. Oh, bribing kids or listeners. Here's what we're
gonna do. We're gonna play a game in a little while.
We're gonna do my kids over under. We'll pick a
category in the world of sports or entertainment. Cavino sets
the line. If I were to say I don't know,

(25:21):
I'll give you. I'll give you a little heads up,
because say it's how many baseball players could they name
in thirty seconds? All right?

Speaker 2 (25:27):
Well, you might say.

Speaker 1 (25:28):
You're their dad. You watch a lot of baseball, and
Rich is sort of like a he's sort of militant
with making sure his kids know all this stuff.

Speaker 2 (25:35):
So don't give you a number now.

Speaker 1 (25:36):
But Coavino will pick a number you as the listener,
calling you guess over under. If you get it right,
you want a prize. It'll be a lot of fun.
We'll do that this hour. But I have a couple
of final thoughts. If it's cool with you on Edwin DS,
please start thinking about it. But first, every Olympic dream
starts with a first line. Who learn to Skate USA Kids,

(25:57):

Speaker 2 (26:10):
Sam is here.

Speaker 1 (26:10):
Bo's in for Danny g Spotty Dan Byron. Thank you
guys for playing along. What are your final thoughts? You
know how I know Dan Byer is a good dad.
He's a great dad. I know he's a great guy.
First of all, he's a great guy. But he put
Bluie on the TV for my kids out there. That's
a dad move, Dad, No, a dad knows another dad move.
So thank you, You're welcome.

Speaker 4 (26:27):
They knew they wanted Disney and I knew all right
eighty nine Here you go.

Speaker 2 (26:32):
So my final thoughts on DZ.

Speaker 1 (26:34):
I'm a big Mets fan, Sam, one last time before
the music discussed me. Because still it still doesn't bother me.
It will bother me starting tomorrow coming into Dodger Stadium. Bo,
You're gonna love it. You're a Dodgers train. You're gonna
love the Timmy trumpet. You're gonna love ds. He is
an electric guy. You know what, it shows you, rich though,

(26:58):
if you build it, they will come. We learned that
and feel the dreams. But I hate to quote the
great Rich Davis, but you did say. It might have
been on our Patreon earlier, but you did say. It
just proves you put a good product out there. People
want to be a part of it. People want to come.
It goes back to just like the art of charm
and the art of dating. If you're having a good time,

(27:20):
people want to be a part of it. That's the
only like dating advice. I thought it was applicable of
those like you know, all those like you know. I
guess you would say, well, Neil Strauss, the dating experts,
if you're at a bar and you're just having a
fun time, people want to Women won't gravitate. Told you
they want to go to your funck. People want to
know what the fund's about. That's true. And you know what,
I've done this as an experiment just to joke around.

(27:43):
Like Spot and I were drunk and buzzing one day
we just started laughing, like playing it up to see
if people would catch on. And sure enough, girls like,
what's so funny, what's going on?

Speaker 2 (27:53):
What happened.

Speaker 1 (27:54):
If you're having fun and the Dodgers are having fun,
they're winning, the fans are having fun. You know, superstars
are there. You want to be a superstar. You want
to be a.

Speaker 2 (28:03):
Part of it.

Speaker 1 (28:04):
You put out a good product, people want to be
a part of it. And that's what's going on here.

Speaker 5 (28:08):
Man.

Speaker 1 (28:08):
You got great weather, you got a great team that competes.
They have a greater chance of winning because Edwin Diaz
is there. So on two in a row, Key K's hilarious,
ta Oscar seems like a good dude, Freddy and Mooki
and all the second base hip flexers and show, Hey,
why would you not want to be part of that.

Speaker 6 (28:23):
It's also just more proof too that it's not all
about money, because Steve Cohen is just as wealthy as
the Dodgers. But you saw plenty of you know, Edwin
Diaz's brother played for the Dodgers last year and he
told him how much funny at here and how good
the development was, and Diaz was pissed at the Mets
fired the pitching coach out there. So it's it's it's
never always about money and and and you.

Speaker 1 (28:43):
Know it's not. This was not about money, no doubt,
it's about lifestyle. And you see what's going on out here,
and then you see like, oh yo, Sodo Lindor aren't
getting along so great, and the Mets seem like they're
desperately trying to make moves, and Diaz probably was like,
you know what, I'm just gonna go live in the
sunshine and and have a way easier life while testament
to the team they've built, too, because not only are
they winning, they're winning with dudes that are not hateable guys.

(29:06):
They're really likable guys. And that's coming from a Yankees fan.
The Dodgers team is likable. These are fun characters who
wouldn't want to hang with them.

Speaker 2 (29:14):
But my assessment has been made.

Speaker 1 (29:16):
Remember you asked me last week what do you think
of Devin Williams rich on the Mets, And I said, wow, amazing.
If he's the setup guy to Edwin Diaz. If you're
replacing Edwin Diaz with Devin Williams, I think it's a
bunk ass move. And in fact, when you think of
when you think of the money, six year signing, six
million signing bonus, well, by the way, Edwin Diaz for
the record thirty one years old and what three years

(29:40):
sixty nine million? So he'll be thirty four. So the
Mets offered him sixty six million. But keep them mind,
I think the difference of talent. You might say no,
Devin Williams, he just had an off year. But if
if you're going to offer a DS three years sixty six, no,
you gave Devin Williams three years forty five and six
mil signing bonus, So essentially fifty one, what's a better deal?

(30:04):
Three years fifty one for Williams or three years sixty
nine sixty nine for diz Man. Williams stinks. So I
don't like his his confidence stink. I say that respectfully.
I just don't buy him. In New York, you burst big, Michael,
the Dodgers fans, I promise you you're gonna love Edwin
Diaz on nights where you're just watching a game and
you're winning and you hear Timmy trumpets.

Speaker 2 (30:26):
It really is.

Speaker 1 (30:28):
It's a vibe.

Speaker 2 (30:28):
It's a vibe. It's fun.

Speaker 1 (30:30):
Electric man, It's gross and gross how likable and great
the Dodgers are. But they built something and you know
you could hate on it or you could just respect
it it's an awful day.

Speaker 2 (30:41):
It's an awful day if you're.

Speaker 1 (30:41):
A Mets fan, and it's an awful day for Steve Cohen,
David Stearns, who gets a reputation of being trying to
get the most out of the dollar. If it really
was and they didn't take account offer from the Mets
bot the way the Mets put an offer, Dodgers put
an offer.

Speaker 2 (30:54):
He made a decision.

Speaker 1 (30:56):
If you had more money to spend, because the Mets said,
we would have we would have came back higher.

Speaker 2 (31:00):
We should have came back higher to begin with.

Speaker 1 (31:02):
You lose your closer to the one team if there's
a team that the Mets outplay now if they ever
want to get there, because it wasn't again, like Bo said,
it wasn't about the money.

Speaker 2 (31:11):
If you lost Edwin Diz, It's about the.

Speaker 1 (31:13):
Culture, the winning and you know, hey, LA's the weather's great, guys,
it really is.

Speaker 2 (31:19):
I wouldn't want to be back in New York.

Speaker 1 (31:21):
The only reason I'd want to be back on the
East Coast is because my family's there. If you told
me the Mets lost Edwin Diz to the Baltimore Orioles
because they gave him five or six years. I'd say
I get it. He went after the money. A good
move for him, right, but it was a lateral money move,
which means he wasn't really that set on staying with
the New York Mets. Nope, congrats to the Dodgers. It's

(31:41):
a terrible day for the Mets, especially, like I said,
and there's a few teams that you would need to
leap frog to ever get there. And now you lost
the best guy on your pitching staff to a team
that just went back to back World Series. And remember
your fear. Your fear was, Yeah, it's great that we
got dam Williams. If he's the setup guy, if he's
the closer, we're in trouble. Well guess what, he's now
your closer.

Speaker 2 (32:01):
You're in trust. One last baseball question.

Speaker 1 (32:03):
I know it's football season, but the hot stove is here,
and if you're a baseball fan, you love it the
way we do. Kyle Schwarber five years, one to fifty.

Speaker 2 (32:11):
Dude hits bomps. He's good there, It's a good fit.

Speaker 1 (32:14):
Take the temperature bo Iowa, Sam, what are your thoughts
on Pete Alonzo? Is that is Pete wanting more or
is that seem to be. Is Pete Alonzo and Kyle
Schwarber in the same ballpark punt and ten? Do you
think because Pete's currently that he's on the two year,
fifty something mill, So that's Pete's making less currently? What
is Pee going to go after now? I think he's

(32:36):
gonna get like three to one hundred from the Red
Sox if I had to guess today, that's what I
would put it down as.

Speaker 2 (32:41):
It's worth it.

Speaker 1 (32:42):
Dude, who's said more home runs than him since he's
been in the league. He's first baseman, power hitter, He's
proven to be clutch. He was not appreciated by the
Mets fans or the Mets organization. You think he still
holds it against the Mets in the back of his mind?
I man, he doesn't. You know who does Scott Morris? Yeah?
So I think he's in the right to take whatever
he can get. So if it's with the Red Sox,

(33:02):
I wouldn't be a fan of that as a Yankees fan,
but I would understand. But if Schwarbar's getting five years,
I think Alonzo's getting he should get that or more.
Schwarbar's at the tail end. Would you have a question
to wrap it up, Alonzo still got some juice. You could,
you know, make fun of me as a Mets fan,
because today's the day you should make fun of Mets fans.

Speaker 2 (33:18):
They blew it.

Speaker 1 (33:20):
That sucks, man, The Mets suck.

Speaker 2 (33:24):
Mets suck. I gave you a chance and you bloway.

Speaker 1 (33:28):
That's that's sad. I like my Sandler. If the Mets
lose Edwin Diaz and Pete Alonzo, is that one of
the worst off seasons you could remember in recent history?
If they lose Peter Alonzo and Diaz, I think as
a fan, yeah, like Williams, those guys are like the

(33:50):
heartbeat of the current Mets.

Speaker 5 (33:52):
Right.

Speaker 6 (33:53):
They went from David Wright, you have Pete Alonzo, you
have Edwin Diaz. To lose both of them in the
same offseason, you lose.

Speaker 1 (33:58):
That's what irked me from the out side looking in, right,
because I'm not a Mets fan, but I'm like, Alonto
is your guy. That is your guide and it's not
just a face, Like he is a New York Met
and he plays big and he does it in New
York Like that's your dude.

Speaker 2 (34:13):
I embrace that guy.

Speaker 1 (34:15):
Part of what it'll get is that David Stearns and
Steve Cohen, the owner and the front office of the
New York Mets, are Mets fans. That's the funny part.
They both are like childhood lifelong Met fans. We're talking
about the GM. I mean they guy that runs a
team of baseball operations. President of Baseball Operations and the
owner are both lifer Mets fans, and they're letting this happen.

(34:35):
They if they don't have something ridiculous up their sleeve.
You let Jose Glacias go last year, and I get it,
he was a utility infielder, but.

Speaker 2 (34:44):
The oh my god, and you could have signed him
for like a million dollar like minor league major league
joint like split contract. They let him go. JD.

Speaker 1 (34:54):
Martinez was a veteran that probably would have hung around
for a minimal deal. He was the heart and soul
apparently in the locker room. And now you're letting Timmy
Trumpets and Daz and the LFMG. You know, LFG, what's
e f and go Mets? Pete a lonzo? If that
goes away, what do you got?

Speaker 2 (35:11):
Soto?

Speaker 1 (35:12):
You and you go off to Bellinger and I don't know,
just maybe you look at it and say, well, I'll
tell you what. Not only not only do you lose
Edwin Diaz, I think you lose Bellinger because he knows
that things are looking bad with the Mets.

Speaker 2 (35:27):
They just lost their closer.

Speaker 1 (35:29):
Like if you were Bellinger, right, and you're being offered
the same deal, stay in New York and it's either
the Yankees or the Mets. With this news the Mets
got today, would you want to play for them? Hell
to the nah. I'm sticking with the Yankees. I know
what I get there. They're still contenders. There a great organization,
they're still trying to make moves. They have a decent bullpen.
The Mets.

Speaker 2 (35:47):
No way.

Speaker 1 (35:48):
If I was Bellinger, I'd say you lost Bellinger by this,
by this trade, by by losing DS. What's what's next?
Missus Met's gonna.

Speaker 2 (35:56):
Leave mister Mett, hey man, anything's possible this offseason. She's
banging Bernie the Brewer.

Speaker 1 (36:02):
Oh man, No, she's she's banging that Red's mascot.

Speaker 3 (36:07):
What's his name?

Speaker 1 (36:07):
He's It's like it's like mister Mets, creepy uncle with
a mustache. He's got a mister redstock Man, call him
johny redstock.

Speaker 2 (36:15):
You lost it in Johnny redstock Man.

Speaker 1 (36:18):
Oh boy, so yeah, I think not only did you
lose the as you lost the chance of Dollinger because
who wants to play with mon Soto. That guy's not
a vibe. You need a fun clubhouse, you need a
fun atmosphere. And like Rich said, I hear nothing but
turmoil between Lindor and Sodo. All right, so that's the
update there. Congrats to Schwarberg. Congrats the d s too, man,

(36:39):
and I am sorry for your METS because I don't
know that's a big loss.

Speaker 2 (36:43):
Yeah, you're you're compassionate guy. I appreciate that.

Speaker 1 (36:45):
No problem, man, I'm not I'm not gonna be uh
rabbing it in.

Speaker 2 (36:49):
But hey, congrats to Schwarberg. I mean we all were
in awe.

Speaker 1 (36:52):
Remember that the home run nothing it sounds it felt
like a home run derby. But remember the All Star
Game went to like extra innings and the home run off. Yeah,
it was insane. I Shwarber is a stud, but that
do remember I was in Atlanta.

Speaker 2 (37:03):
What you watched, We.

Speaker 1 (37:04):
Were watching at the bar, having some having some cocktails. Incredible.
That was amazing. Dude. That guy hits bombs, so props
to him. Not all the Schwarmer by the way, though,
I feel like he's been around for us for a minute.
Well he was at the Cubby's very young, was it,
Yeah it was. I mean I just associate him with
like Rizzo and those other dudes. Long he's only thirty two, geez.
So a five year deal gets him to thirty seven,

(37:26):
which feels about right. Yeah it does. And you know,
if he produces the next couple years, you're gonna look
at thirty million years. Not a bargain, but a pretty
good deal for Schwarps. So all right, there you goo
some baseball news. Back to football, and again we're gonna
give away some prizes. In a few minutes. We're gonna
play richest kids over under. It's gonna be a fun one.
I think we're gonna have fun with that. But I

(37:47):
wanted to point out one particular game this NFL Sunday
and get your vibe on it because we're talking. Hey,
we wrapped up Week fourteen yesterday, let's get into fifteen.
Can you believe this Week fifteen, we're gonna be in
Santa Clara represent before you know.

Speaker 2 (38:00):
It, she can't wait. We'll be out there.

Speaker 1 (38:02):
It's a super bowl, chilling, bringing all the fun to you,
like we always do cool interviews. But honestly, I don't
know what it is. This feels like the fastest season
of my lifetime. I'm not even kidding you, it really does.
Week fifteen. Let's go what game interests you? Man? Let's
stand in that post COVID. It really is, dude, is
perception of time moving?

Speaker 2 (38:23):
I know Jay Stu hates when people say time flying?

Speaker 1 (38:26):
Am I right?

Speaker 2 (38:27):
Week fifteen? What the hell?

Speaker 1 (38:30):
How's that even possible? What's standing out? Isn't there's some
like psychological reason behind it, like as the older you
get is, you know, it's a lower percentage of your life,
like your time moves faster as you get older when
you when you were a kid. I think about it
because my kids who felt school days felt like they
took forever. When you meet my kids in a few
minutes when we play this game, my kids are five
and eight, they put a summer vacation or like, as

(38:52):
it's a longer percentage of their life, so it feels longer.
I mean, I understand the absolutely logic behind that, but
it's just bonkers to real that we're at week fifteen
already like I feel like, and we were just talking
about the World Series.

Speaker 2 (39:05):
We're already talking about super Bowl coming up.

Speaker 1 (39:08):
Yeah, there's a there's a couple of games that I
find to be ridiculously intriguing. Lions at Rams. We thought
that the Lions were sort of dead, right, and then
all of a sudden, they beat the Cowboys on Thursday night.
They're coming off of a little extra rest. They come
out here to La so they got to travel, but
they got extra rest. That's a big one. We'll talk
about that later in the week. Broncos Packers another big one.

(39:30):
But man, those are some good ones.

Speaker 2 (39:31):
AFC East.

Speaker 1 (39:32):
Okay, I think you keep saying not only I do
you think everyone's downplaying the eleven and two Patriots. There's
a few teams that just aren't sexy or hasn't haven't
convinced us enough yet. Oh you're not a Drake Bay
guy that we continue to leave out. Dan Seahawks is
one of them. You leave them out all the time.
West and Vegas knows it too. He called you out
on it because we're just not convinced for whatever reason,

(39:55):
you could throw the Broncos and the Texans in that mix.
Texans are approven that their defense is elite and absolutely
the Patriots, bro, what more do they need to do
to prove to you, to anyone at their legit this year. Now,
when you look at their two losses, they came within
the first couple weeks of the season. dB will tell
you that in the beginning of the year Week one,

(40:17):
Remember Danny g came in here like my Raiders want
to know, the Raiders beat the Pats Week one. Yeah,
that was weird. I don't know. And to think that
even existed, that makes you realize how like the NFL
season is long. Looking back, that makes no sense.

Speaker 2 (40:31):
Like the Raiders really in New England.

Speaker 4 (40:34):
And considering just I mean, the Patriots look, I don't
want to say that they're unstoppable, but they look really,
really good and the playoffs may have to go through
New England. And that was the first half that was
even I remember, and then like the Raiders turned it
on in the second half, and I'm like, see, Pete Carroll,
Patriots have a long way to go.

Speaker 3 (40:51):
That was bad analysis considering where we are now.

Speaker 1 (40:55):
The Raiders also beat the Ravens two years ago in
the beginning of the season. You're like, what and then
in week three when we were like, man, Aaron, Rodgers
got it going on, and you know, it looks like
they have something cooking right now, but yes, something week
three they won twenty one fourteen. They win when they
have to. They show that they still got a little
something left. I don't know if that's a Tomlin thing,
but Rodgers look decent all right now. I hate when

(41:18):
people say, well, look who they beat, because you only
play who's on your schedule. dB will tell you that
the NFC West has been accused of that for years
because if they lie like the Niners of the Seahawks
will have a big year and it's like, well they
played no one, you can only play who's on your schedule.
I hate that sentiment of like their schedules week but
other than their win over the Bills, right they win

(41:38):
division games. They beat the Saints, Titans, Browns, Falcons, Jets,
Bengals who were in disarray, and they just beat the Giants,
like it really is a bottom feet or schedule. I
just named a bunch of really bad teams. I just
may have named the worst teams in the NFL. So
when you see the Bills and then again they play

(42:01):
that division and the divisions at a meager because they
play after the Bills. They play the Jets again and
the Dolphins who are fighting. Dolphins are hanging in there
on a thread. They've won four street and they play.

Speaker 2 (42:10):
The Ravens who are fighting for something.

Speaker 1 (42:12):
But they could very well be fourteen and three and
maybe a soft fourteen three.

Speaker 2 (42:18):
But then again, maybe not.

Speaker 3 (42:19):
I don't think so.

Speaker 4 (42:20):
I think when you watch them play effective yes, discipline too, yes, correct, Like,
you're like, okay, that's a good football team, no matter
who's on the other side. And you see what Drake
may has done in just his second year. They're using
all of their weapons, whether it be Stefan Diggs or
Keishawn Boody or Hunter Henry or who like everybody's being used.

(42:41):
They've got a great running game now with Stevenson. Hell yeah,
they're just they look like a really good football team.

Speaker 2 (42:47):
It's still the NFL and they've won ten in a row. Dude,
that's that's quite impressive.

Speaker 4 (42:51):
The point differential, there's only three teams right now with
a plus one hundred point differential, and the Patriots are
one of the three.

Speaker 1 (42:57):
So damn, you know, shame on me for playing but
I think of all the games we talked about this week,
all eyes from me, Buffalo going to New England because
Josh Allen and that team that's you know, been there,
done that, Like you know, they've been to the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (43:11):
It seems like every year they're.

Speaker 1 (43:12):
Going against a team that has won ten in a row,
I mean, including one of those wins. Is that I
can simplify it. Some teams are just so good that
maybe it's a little boring sometimes, Like there's something about
the Patriots that aren't exciting. Drake May is exciting, but
don't you feel like they're a little boring, Like like
Oklahoma City Thunder, Like they're great, and we know they're great,

(43:33):
and they have great chemistry, and there's a lot of
young players that are really great. Kind of boring, you
know what I mean, Like there's something about them that
doesn't excite you unless you're a fan of that team.
It's not just sports, I know what you're saying. Like
sometimes I'll give you the lamest analogy you ever watch,
Like a competition show, remember like back in the day,
like American Idol, Like, Wow, what an amazing singer, But
they do nothing for me. Boll bam. Honestly, yeah, exactly.

(43:54):
She've got a beautiful voice. That's how I feel about
no feelings, and that's that's why it's hard to convince.
I think rich and a lot of people that they're
really legit.

Speaker 6 (44:03):
Can I give you guys my theory, absolutely please do.
I think it's denial. It's been twenty years with the
Patriots dynasty. Then Brady left and they sucked, and we're like,
oh great, the Patriots are gonna suck for twenty thirty.

Speaker 2 (44:16):
They didn't suck long enough for five years.

Speaker 6 (44:20):
Like, can you imagine being a Bills fan right now?
You had your window and you don't even make it
to a Super Bowl, and you are the Patriots. Patriots
win on Sunday, they win the AFC East, so you.

Speaker 2 (44:28):
Were supposed to suck long.

Speaker 1 (44:30):
It's it is surprising.

Speaker 2 (44:32):
I think it's denial, man. I think that's definitely part
of it. Bo I think you're onto something.

Speaker 1 (44:36):
And then the Jets and the Dolphins just stand by
and it's like that team was a dynasty, sucked and
then they're good again and we're just still floating by.
But guess what we'll find out this week? So that's
exciting well, hey, we got a game that you guys
are gonna want to play, so we're gonna give away
Cavino and Rich Fox Sports Radio, NERF Turbo Footballs eight

let's go to Travis. What's up, buddy?

Speaker 3 (47:59):
Hey?

Speaker 1 (48:00):
Al right, So here's the thing. I'm going to ask
my kids a question you don't answer right away. Covino's
gonna set the odds thirty seconds and you just got
to pick over under question one Coveno Okay, in thirty seconds,
thirty seconds between the two of them, right, yeah, they're
working together as a little team. All right, they're a tandem.
All right, here we go. First question, how many NFL

just name all the football teams you can think of. Ready,
you ready, ben, okay, ready, here we go.

Speaker 2 (48:56):

kids can name in thirty seconds?

Speaker 2 (50:22):
