could point out the self centered nature of every youngster now,
Kevin Garnett is the perfect person to point out emotions. Yes,

keep in mind back in the day when we were

of coaching stuff because I work some closely with the
kids that I coach. And what did what do people say?
When we were kids the car right home, dads were
yelling at their kids, like, you know, you struck out

home were unbearable. People would yell, parents yell at umpires.

Kids were told holding your emotions. Now you tell the

but are you hurt.

Or you are you feeling? Oh you have feelings?

sports baby or a different When it's like tears of
joy and like, you know, tears, it's not like he's
crying because he lost his crying because he made it

Because on our show in the past, we've even talked
about we want our athletes to care as much as
us as fans. So then when they get emotional like

reality TV or no younger men, Wemby's twenty two, right

Generations walk out of any sort of emotional kind conversation. Dude,
we could be having a conversation around the holidays and
if it gets any bit emotional. But Dad's like, oh,

you think is gonna win the game tonight? But let's
not do this. Who needs another drink? Let's not talk
about that. Who wants to do a shot? Do you

think World War two? The generation before that, our grandparents,
do you think the greatest generation cried? Well, that's that's
that's my point, though, Rich, You have to realize who
it's coming. Mike Schmidt opened the floodgates. Yeah, man, that
was that was a game changer. I'll never forget that.
You know, it's a really great point. We year was
that because we were little kids. When I saw Mike
Schmidt crying at his retirement speech, it didn't I didn't

I'd never seen my dad cry much like Rich and
here we are seeing our baseball heroes cry. I remember
asking my mom like, why is he crying? You know,

my mother telling me like, you know, my mother was
your father and have emotions. I remember my mother they're divorced,
but my mother, my mother would say, your father did
even cry at his own dad's funeral, Like.

That generation doesn't shed tears.

So when they were also taught that, you know, men
don't cry. Yeah, and now crying you gotta be strong. Well, no,
you know, I tell kids that cry. I tell kids
on the ball field.

Sorry, I talk so much about coaching, but it's like
my every day when I'm not here, I'm coach. Fox
Sports Radio is number one coach. I'm number one coach
when I'm on the field. I tell the other coaches
I allow the kids to get a little emotional until
they're a little older, because I said, once you're nine
or ten years old, then you get the reputation of
being like the little baby, cry baby, be little kid.
When a kid's six seven, to eight. Some of the

kids if they make an error or a picture gives
up a run. I've seen like the eight nine year
old kids you give up. Plus the Gary Vaynerchuk theory
and it's a great one. Yeah, Gary Vee, one of
our pals says, if you got a kid that cries,
not a teenager, you've got a little kid that cries.

If they're crying.

Because they care, that just means they're a leader, a winner,
and they can't control that emotion.

that championship heedigree in perspective. My thoughts here before we

go to your feedback and phones is simple, Rich. You
encourage your kids to cry, and you know crying is okay,
and we see what young people all the time. To me,
it matters why you're crying. If a kid got hit
by a pitch, yeah, rub it off.

If you lost the game sometimes or made an error,
I should say you made an error and I don't cry, man,

ask the kids, are you hurt? What I really want

you get maybe a play more contact sports.

there comes an age where you will get clowned on
if you're the crying kid. When you're younger, your buddies
don't care.

over celebrated. I think they deserved that celebration. But was
that you know, as a young team, was that Is
