Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Bill Handle on demand from KFI AM
six forty, KFI AM six forty Live everywhere on the
iHeartRadio app. Good morning, Neil Sevadra and for Bill Handle
this week, happy to be with you. Back from vacation.
Bill is still on vacation because as he would say.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
What does he say?
Speaker 1 (00:22):
He always says it's a food chain issue. Yeah, you
know that sweet thing he does, like they, oh I
make more money than you, I'm more important than you.
That stuff, you know that, that kind of fun stuff. Actually,
that stuff's never bothered me. I find it humorous. Yeah, yeah, exactly,
(00:42):
we know it's true. It's like, oh yeah, they they
they would, they would, you know, trip over anything to
put a knife in my face for Bill Handle. That's fine,
that's fine. I got a lot of face. You can
take a trim. All right. Let's this we talked earlier
about I said we're going to talk more about it. Now.
(01:03):
Let's get into the misinformation, the lies, the concern over
RFK Junior. Let's bring on News Nation reporter Alena Shirazi. Elena,
Welcome to KFI.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
Good morning, good morning. How are you.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
I am? Well? This story is you know it is
part for the course right now, as we are seeing
the dismantling. I mean, nobody wants to walk in in
the middle of a you know, an operation. You kind
of want to see it after it's sewn up. So
you've got a new president coming in and turning everything
(01:43):
on its head. We don't know where it's going to go.
And the latest casualty is a top FDA vaccine official
resigning and basically pointing at Kennedy's misinformation and live.
Speaker 3 (01:58):
Yeah, I mean pretty much this is just kind of
the latest crinkle in the page here and turning very quickly.
And we're only a few months in, but I mean,
you know, we have seen the Health Secretary RFP Junior.
He has faced a lot of criticism over his thoughts, opinions,
things he has in the past over vaccines and his
skepticism over that. So we're seeing this play out, of course,
(02:23):
with this resignation or termination. I mean, that's kind of
the big question here, right So doctor Peter Marx, he
was the FDA's top vaccine scientist, and he put out
a two page resignation later, a letter that essentially says
I can read off a part of this for you
here he said it has become clear that truth and
(02:43):
transparency are not desired by the Secretary, but rather he
wishes subservience confirmation of his misinformation and lies. And then
he adds essentially undermining confidence and well established vaccines that
have been at place for decades. At the FDA's irresponse sable,
he calls the detriment to public health and so on
(03:04):
and so forth. But you know, just some context here,
if you will, on doctor Marx. You know, in the
past he had accused Kennedy of spreading vaccine as information
in some of his theories, like the vaccine autism link
as well, amongst other things. But during the pandemic he
led the approvals. But he also if he's a lot
(03:25):
of backlash for essentially being too lenient on some of them.
So there's both sides there, right of the story. So
we're trying to see what happens next, But we know
that House Democrats are very upset about this. They're investigating
his resignation, they're looking into our Page Junior's actions, and
(03:47):
Representative Gerald Connolly actually wrote a letter to OURFK Junior
asking him to dial back his vaccination suppression. And so
we're going to see how this plays out. You know,
what is our SK Junior going to do? Is he
going to respond to the pressure? Is he going to
us stick by his decisions? You know, this is just
something that changes ever every single day here in the
(04:09):
White House in Congress, and every day there's certainly something
new to be expected.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
Well, yeah, this is going to be a wild ride
and a lot of us won't know what's going on
for a while. Like I said, with the analogy of
an operation, there's a lot of blood and guts all
over the place right now, and nobody knows if it's
ever going to be sewn back up. But I'm all
for change. I'm all for if there's something that needs
to be changed, great, But I'm not this I likened
(04:37):
it earlier. This kind of activism stuff is more is
more like the defund the police, where it's just like
break everything that bothers me. And what concerns me about
RFK Junior is he's an activist. To me, not a scientist,
(04:57):
not a doctor. He's an activist. He's made his life
of a focus as an activist. And I'm not a
fan of activists. To make me nervous because I don't
like you know, I don't like anybody who has a
job that would go away if they did their job.
Speaker 3 (05:14):
Okay, I think that was Yeah, Well there's been a
lot of that lately, right. I think that was a
huge part of his confirmation hearing too, you know, a
lot of questions surrounding them, but ultimately he did get confirmed,
and now we're trying to see, you know, what his
plans are. And we had a pretty good idea, but
it looks like some of what we expected is happening.
(05:35):
But you know, this is also happening, you know, with
the backdrop of RFPA Junior's layoffs as well at HHS. Right,
this department had eighty two thousand full time employees. Now
he wants to cut it back to sixty two thousand
positions going forward. So that's you know, consolidating twenty eight
divisions into fifteen. So you know, it's not only the
(05:58):
vaccination controversial topic here, it's you know, cutting staff and
really just reshaping the health department as a whole. So
a lot of questions on how this is going to
shape up, and it.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
May need reshaping. I'm more of a I lean towards
a smaller government type guy. So I don't mind cuts
and all that stuff, as long as they're thoughtfully done.
But this part makes me nervous when you get activists
behind positions, I don't care what side of the aisle
they're on. If they're activists in any way, shape or form,
(06:32):
to me, then their agenda is more of a religion
than it is a reason. So I guess we have
to wait at this point and see how this plays out.
I think you said it perfectly. Is he going to
budge or waiver? Is this going to change anything? Or
is it going to be just the beginning of more
heads starting to roll. Because there was talk about the
(06:53):
possibility of him being pushed out. You know, some have said, well, no,
he was actually we pushed out and didn't even leave
on his own accord, even though it seems like doctor
Marx did. So we shall see. But I appreciate you
taking the time to come on, Lina Shirazzi, News Nation reporter.
I appreciate you.
Speaker 3 (07:15):
Thank you so much. Thanks thanks for having me until
next time?
Speaker 1 (07:18):
Yes, until next time is the as the stomach turns.
Next time? Oh God, But you guys doing great work
there at News Nation. Keep on doing it.
Speaker 3 (07:28):
Thank you so much. I appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (07:30):
Later, Bye bye, Neil Savadra in for Bill handle this morning.
Happy to be with you before Gary and Shannon come
aboard at nine. Also, have you had a chance to
listen to Gary and Shannon's new uh They've got a podcast,
their Weekend Fix. They were talking about AI like relationships.
So basically it's uh, basically you can hear potty mouth.
(07:55):
I know you can. They come close, but now you
can hear the full potty mouth and let it let
it go. So check that out kfi EM six forty
dot com. The podcasts there. They'll be coming up at nine,
so go knowwhere you know. One of the things I
love about the American way, the so called American way,
the American dream, is you come here and our belief
(08:20):
is in you supposed to be like you can do this,
you get do it like it, like you can come
here and this we got this great land and you
come and you can do it. And we're shifting to
this whole thing that no, you can't you probably can't
do it, so we need to change things for you.
(08:41):
And now we're seeing it with digital only coupons. So
you have San Diego City council member Sean Ilo Rivera
says there's a digital barrier for residents because they lack
internet or smartphone access. And he says, there's three groups.
(09:04):
I mean literally, San Diego is banning, banning digital coupons.
What I want from local politicians, and I guarantee it's
the same thing you want. Keep me as safe as possible,
(09:29):
keep my family as safe as possible, my friends, my
loved ones, my fellow humans. Fill the damn potholes, Make
the agencies that we need to use, like the DMV
and the touch points of the government, work as efficiently
as possible for the least amount of money possible, and
(09:52):
don't worry about things like digital coupons. But this San
Diego City Council member believes that there are three groups
that are hindered by digital coupons. The first comprises of
older adults sixty five years in older. Don't tell me
someone sixty five years does not know how to use
(10:17):
digital coupons.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
My mother does not.
Speaker 1 (10:20):
Well, the warden has issues. My mom's eighty seven. She
knows how to text me, she knows how to use
her phone. Now I'm not saying that I you know,
I don't get a little nervous when she's on a
trying to do something, but she uses emojis. She's eighty seven.
Speaker 2 (10:40):
My mom is not that evolved, you.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
Know why, because she doesn't feel the need to. And
that's the problem. Because this keeps growing. You have one
hundred and seventy eight million adults in the United States
that redeem digital coupons. These are downloadable coupons, mobile coupons,
all of these things, and ten million adults every year
(11:03):
from twenty fifteen to twenty twenty two. Those are the
latest numbers. It's grown every year by ten million people.
You know why, because that's what you need to do
to use those coupons. That's the American way. We push
people to be better, we push people to be stronger,
we push people to learn more. I had the opportunity
(11:27):
to talk to Bob Gerr. Bob Gerr is ninety three
years old. He is a famous imagineer from Disney and
he's built rides for Universal, all kinds of things. My
show this weekend is going to revolve around him. He's
coming on, there's new documentary about him. We're gonna have
(11:48):
some food from places he loves. We're going to talk
about food. We're going to talk about all kinds of things.
He told me once he was a horrible at math,
but he needed to know trigonometry to build I think
the Matta Horn, which was the only tube coaster of
its the kind at the time. He built the monorail.
(12:10):
He built all these things, design them. He taught himself
trigonometry in fifteen minutes. And I said, what you weren't
good at mouth? He goes, I'm not an engineer, And
I said, how did you do it? He said, because
I had to. He had a need for it. He said.
We teach a lot of math and stuff that we
(12:31):
don't have need for in the moment, so you don't
learn it. We don't learn what we don't have to.
We would never do that to a child. Just get
it for him. No, we say, no, he's never going
to learn. Old people aren't stupid, and we have to
stop treating them like stupid. Now. The other group is
people living on a fixed income. I'm telling you people
(12:53):
have smartphones and they have computers. And then the other one,
which I'm going to say is probably it the bigger
one in most people's eyes when it comes to politics,
is English language learners are weary of sharing their information
because you usually have to sign up. You have to
stop bending over this way. People are not designed. I
(13:20):
don't care if it's your second language. My dad's second
language was English. He learned it because he had to.
And we they're this kind of like minorities need all
this help. They're not. They're human beings. They want to grow,
they want to be smart. They don't want to just
(13:40):
I know it's Caesar Javes Day. They don't want to
just be out there picking plants. They're human beings. People
want to grow. We're intelligent, we want to learn. Stop
taking that away from people. Stop dumbing things down because
it does make us better as a people, and it
(14:02):
doesn't make them better. You're doing them a disservice. I
got to kill this last segment. I'll tell you why.
I'm Mary because Shannon and Bilbo Baggins are coming on
to do the show Old Harry Toes. They call him.
That's rough man. Never do a team show again.
Speaker 2 (14:21):
Uh? Is that in some sort of promo?
Speaker 1 (14:24):
How do you? Yes? Oh?
Speaker 2 (14:25):
I was gonna say, how do you know about that?
Speaker 1 (14:26):
You just in Italy because someone who apparently doesn't love.
Gary said, hey, let's cut this and put it into
a promo about his hairy toes. I haven't heard the
ends with you cackling, going once again, I have caused
curse upon you and your family. Gary. He can't grow
a beard, but apparently his feet can. Gary Hoffman, is
he here today?
Speaker 2 (14:47):
He is?
Speaker 1 (14:48):
He didn't come in it Handles now here.
Speaker 2 (14:50):
I went in and told him that you are being
insufferable this morning.
Speaker 1 (14:54):
Yeah, that's different. You have to let him know that.
Did you tell him that the air is outside too?
Speaker 2 (14:59):
Times you sit in for handle you develop a greater
sense of a holiery.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
Really.
Speaker 2 (15:06):
Yeah, it's something about the chair. It just seeps in.
It's like an infection.
Speaker 1 (15:12):
Why what did I do?
Speaker 2 (15:13):
It's like a fungus.
Speaker 1 (15:14):
I mean, Cono. I'm going to pick on Cono. That's
what I do. He's Cono.
Speaker 2 (15:18):
I was totally just kidding. I have no idea.
Speaker 1 (15:21):
I normally I'll be honest. I normally like kind of
glaze over when you talk, so like that. Yeah, okay,
but I don't I think you're smart.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
I do is anything work on the center looking at
a woman and being like, I think you're smart and
and funny you're funny.
Speaker 1 (15:40):
You know what. You're so articulate.
Speaker 2 (15:45):
Said that? Who said that? It was not Barack Obama,
was it.
Speaker 1 (15:47):
It's like it's one of those things, and it's like,
that's not I thought you were going to talk like
a monkey, and here you are using words so impressed
by that. You're not as dumb as you look. Tonight,
the Dodgers take on the Braves. It's Evan Hey, sports talk.
I think the Dodgers about the fungus. The Dodgers are
gonna give it one hundred and ten percent, they're gonna
(16:08):
take it to the paint and they're gonna make it happen.
Speaker 2 (16:10):
The first thing you did was a boob joke then,
but now sports talk, and I don't look at you
or listen to you when you talk. This is all
the handle fungus and it's only Monday Friday.
Speaker 1 (16:27):
Maybe it does happen. You're right, yeah, Okay, Dodgers take
on the Braves. They're gonna get the w man. They
don't want that l I'll tell you that. Listen to
the action on AM five seventy LA Sports Live from
the Gallpin Motor Broadcast Booth, and stream the game in
HD on the iHeartRadio app, Keyword, AM five seventy LA Sports.
(16:47):
What are you guys talking about? That's you? You're back.
Speaker 2 (16:52):
Oh I'm allowed to speak now. Thanks?
Speaker 1 (16:54):
Does the man give you permission? Oh?
Speaker 2 (16:57):
Really? You want to know what we're talking about? Okay, Well, well,
this is a huge week for the economy. What will
Liberation Day mean? It's fascinating that Trump is taking, you know,
his America First agenda and he wants to start it
right now. And it's something that can't happen right now
because when you think about moving manufacturing companies to the US,
having American made cars. Love the idea, but that's something
(17:19):
that's gonna If you want to put that ball in
motion now, fine, you're gonna get screwed for it. It's
screwed for it for the rest of your term. Probably says, well,
the higher care more about Maybe he does exactly.
Speaker 1 (17:31):
Talking to two people that drive GMC, right, we don't.
We're not worried about this.
Speaker 2 (17:36):
We well, we have parts. There's parts in my truck
that were not made in America.
Speaker 1 (17:40):
They will be now you know what they're going to do.
Speaker 2 (17:43):
My first GM truck was made in Mexico nineteen eighty
five s sixteen.
Speaker 1 (17:49):
Mexico assembles BMW's and stuff now.
Speaker 2 (17:52):
Too, and BMW has places here in Alabama anyway. It's
all very commingled at this point, so it's going to
be tough to hang unt hangled if you just look
at the auto industry. But we'll see what goes on already.
Global markets are responding to this, so we'll stay on
top of that and talk to very smart people who
know how this soul affect us. Greenland the PM is
(18:12):
back saying, hey, no one owns us. What's that sixty
song from Dirty Dancing? You don't own me? You don't
know that's Greenland's life.
Speaker 1 (18:21):
I loved his response though, he was kind of like,
are you being so mean? We can be friends? Yeah,
Like like why you be? I don't like your tone?
What do you got to come in here?
Speaker 2 (18:31):
We're friends, we have a fire to keep our eyes on.
Another conjugal visit murder.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
I mean, that's a bad idea.
Speaker 2 (18:40):
Do you only have access to so much ass if
you're getting conjugal visits? Why would you want to ruin that?
I should be clear, I should be clearer. I will
tell you this is your show, so I can do
this Yeah, I was good. This isn't my suspension, probably
my suspension.
Speaker 1 (18:58):
But two, you have.
Speaker 2 (19:00):
Access, but not access to what you want. Yeah, and
in that vein huge, huge news to tell you about
the wildlife bridge today.
Speaker 1 (19:09):
Oh that's the Seguae whiplash. Because I was going that.
I didn't think about that. Why would you want to
kill the only right?
Speaker 2 (19:20):
What are you doing?
Speaker 1 (19:22):
I would assume that is an interesting take because I
would assume, Yeah, when you smart and articulate.
Speaker 2 (19:26):
Well, when you want a conjugal visit, you have to
be right. And I think that a lot goes into
that in terms of you can't just have anybody over
for your conjugal visit. There's paperwork that needs to be filed,
there's familiar relations that need to be established, all of that.
Speaker 1 (19:40):
Yeah, if you're eating the loaf, you ever seen that?
That loaf that they serve in prison, like pametto No no, no,
no no no, they call they actually call it the loaf.
It's horrible. AnyWho. If they're feeding you that every day
and someone brings you a nice spaghetti, uh, carbonara, you
don't murdered. You don't murder the carbonara.
Speaker 2 (20:01):
I'm not saying that it's spaghetti carbonara that's showing up
for the conjugal visit. But it's better than the.
Speaker 1 (20:07):
Loaf compared to the loaf, which we can all agree,
the bar is not high high am here from my
conjugal visit? Baby, he looks so great? Is that a
new eyebrow?
Speaker 2 (20:20):
Alrighty?
Speaker 1 (20:21):
Well?
Speaker 3 (20:21):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (20:22):
Gary and Shannon are up next. Don't forget they also
have their new fifth day with their weekend Fix podcasting day.
That's a sixth day.
Speaker 2 (20:35):
Handle. It's the fungus. They don't know, they don't it's you.
Speaker 1 (20:39):
Don't have five days in Italy, boom, just take one
day off.
Speaker 2 (20:42):
Anti women walked in like getting things wrong.
Speaker 1 (20:45):
Lenny and Squiggy during a.
Speaker 2 (20:47):
Topic about Lenny and Swiggy means, what is that?
Speaker 1 (20:51):
You ever watched Lavernie Shirley?
Speaker 2 (20:52):
Oh? I do know that?
Speaker 1 (20:53):
How they always walked in with those stew in bacoles
and they're like hello in Laban, Hello, Cheryl.
Speaker 2 (20:58):
No, I have seen it in years. I love those ladies.
Speaker 1 (21:04):
All right, I'm done, Snap time, all right, stick around,
stick around, they're coming up. Jiggles and furry toes go nowhere.
Oh bosh, so articulate. Didn't expect that you'll Bill Handle
all week. You're welcome. This is KFI and KSTHG two,
